Jobs, Washing, and the Weight of Time
We were talking over tea—my wife and I—about work, fairness, and how the world keeps asking more from us.
There was a time when Monday meant laundry day. You'd gather with others, scrubbing, wringing, hanging, drying. It wasn’t just about clothes—it was a rhythm. Hard work, yes, but shared. Structured. Human.
Now? A button press. A spin. A beep. And suddenly, you're free... to do more.
More work. More hustle. More expectations. More distractions.
Equality was supposed to level the playing field—but instead, it feels like women are just asked to do everything. Build careers, carry pregnancies, lift the heaviest loads—mentally and physically. And when the burden becomes too much, society looks the other way.
We've created a world where everyone is constantly doing something, but no one has time for each other.
Time, we said, is the most precious currency. Not pounds. Not dollars. Time to sit. Time to breathe. Time to love.
Maybe it's not about the washing. Maybe it’s about remembering why we washed together in the first place.
