the wip doodle and lineart. in my mind they're waiting to get picked up by the future foundation at a safe location (the airport) and trying to get some rest before then - out of the three of them, byakuya is faring the best (kyoko hasn't been sleeping well since even before the last two trials, makoto fell down a trash chute) and so volunteered for the night

look. a subgenre going in a direction you don't like for a while doesn't make it "dead". reboots, sequels, prequels, and stuff like that are the trend in all sorts of media, not just magical girl anime.

also, there are all sorts of cool magical girl works that aren't anime, and i don't just mean manga and light novels. there's live-action stuff, VNs, webcomics, written works, cartoons from countries other than japan...

and guess what? i'm not against dark magical girl stuff by any means. madoka magica was what got me into magical girl stuff in the first place! i love all sorts of magical girl media, both light and dark, though i don't claim to be an expert by any means. there's still so much stuff i haven't watched/read/played...

(THIS ANSWER CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DANGANRONPA 1, BUT NO SPOILERS FOR THE HUNDRED LINE BEYOND THE DEMO)

Makoto Naegi — He wants to believe that he's been recruited for something important, but everything about this is too weird and too fishy. But then he takes basically the same route to get there as Takumi does; when Sirei says that the invaders will go through this school and then destroy their homes, killing all of humanity in the process? That's when he feels like he can't afford to sit back. Because if there's even a chance his family is in danger, he has to fight for them.

Aoi Asahina — Jumps in with both feet on fighting the invaders. She's always been trusting and figures that even if the "last defense for humanity" thing doesn't pan out, then at least she's fighting to protect the rest of her classmates if nothing else.

Sakura Ogami — Has more doubts than Hina but ultimately would rather back Hina up and try to keep her safe, so she buys in and fights for that reason. Still... she's often asking Sirei tough questions and prodding at the edges of the academy, trying to understand what's going on.

Leon Kuwata — Retains healthy skepticism about this whole thing. Extremely hesitant to lay down his life for a cause he doesn't fully understand. Stories like Ultra Despair Hagakure and Danganronpa S have taught us that Leon really tries to approach things rationally. I think that desire for rationality and his overwhelming drive for self-preservation are going to keep him off the battlefield. And unfortunately, he's not going to be doing much good on the inside either. He doesn't have a clue how to investigate the place or have many talents that can serve the team; he's just kind of hanging out.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru — It never takes much to get him to listen to any supposed authority figure. Remember the way he caved in to Monokuma's morning exercises and even started calling him "headmaster"? If someone tells Taka that he has a responsibility to fight and possibly die to protect this place, he's going to do it; "responsibility" is his middle name.

Sayaka Maizono — After an initial freakout where she refuses to fight and just wants to get the hell out, eventually comes to the conclusion that she's probably done harder shit to gain/retain her fame than this, so she caves and fights. After all, if anyone's watching, she's going to need to step up in order to retain her positive standing among the public.

Byakuya Togami — Togami finds it extremely logical that he would be among those asked to be the "last defense for humanity" given his elite status, but he's still HIGHLY doubtful of the whole endeavor. He's not doing it. He will instead be researching the school and trying to figure out what's really going on here.

Kyoko Kirigiri — And speaking of researching the school... Kyoko disappears for extended periods of time while she goes off to investigate the truth behind the entire scenario. How did they actually get transported here, what the hell is Sirei, who are the "higher-ups" giving him orders, what is the true nature of these invaders and the bizarre "hemoanima" powers, etc? It'll be a while before she'll even consider joining any combat; she's VERY busy.

Mondo Owada — Mondo is quick to anger and violence, plus he feels a lot of responsbility to not only the Crazy Diamonds but ALL bikers across Japan. Sure, he's going to start out with threatening Sirei, but won't take much to make him pissed enough at the invaders to finally activate his hemoanima and get out there in the name of defending his homies. And besides, if his "bro" is doing it... he'd better be out there for Taka, too.

Chihiro Fujisaki — Like Hiruko Shizuhara, quickly dives into the computers and records found within the academy. As such, winds up playing a behind-the-scenes support role in the combat rather than actually going out and using a hemoanima. Sees themselves as too "weak" to contribute much in front-line combat anyway.

Hifumi Yamada — As much as he loves the shōnen protagonist vibes of becoming a super-powered anti-alien warrior, Hifumi's not really the kind of person to put himself in that sort of danger. .... At least not until they all learn about the fact that they can be resurrected by the academy's technology if anything happens. And at that point he's like "Well is it really any worse or harder than me staying awake for five days and nights in a row to finish one of my doujhinshis?" So he gives it a shot, hoping this is his chance to be a shōnen hero! Unfortunately, he will soon learn YES, it IS much worse/harder to physically fucking die than he expects. After one experience with that, it's going to be hard to get him back out there again....

Yasuhiro Hagakure — Of course he's not doing this. Come on. He's going to be busy freaking out for a good while, too.

Celestia Ludenberg — And speaking of characters who are absolutely, positively NOT going to be fighting... she might prove useful a few times by providing deceptive strategies to employ against the invaders, but she's not going to be doing anything out there herself.

Toko Fukawa and/or Genocide(r) Syo/Jack — Toko certainly isn't going to want to get out there and is going to be pretty shaken/angered by their forced recruitment, but I think she's eventually going to be overruled by her other half's bloodlust.

Mukuro Ikusaba — Lives for this shit, ofc. First in line to stab herself with a blade to unlock her hemoanima and go to town on invaders.

Junko Enoshima — This one is COMPLICATED. On the one hand, she was probably in the midst of planning her OWN death-dealing despair scenario ala DR1 or UTDP, so now she's of irritated that she got interrupted by someone else's weirdly similar scenario. On the OTHER hand, isn't it delightfully despair-inducing to have her own plans interrupted and pre-emptively ruined like this?? But then, what does she do within the scenario itself? It's certainly not in her nature to go out on the battlefield and fight. But it would probably be incredibly despairful to have to experience a violent death REPEATEDLY at the hands of bizarre, gigantic monsters. But also, wouldn't it be amazing to see the entire world destroyed and see everyone's despair as all their loved ones are slaughtered??? So maybe she shouldn't fight at all and try to ensure the others also fail. But wait; wouldn't it be more satisfying a form of despair if she DID fight the invaders with all she had and ultimately still failed to prevent it when they prove they are stronger than she is??? Then she could not only watch the despair of her classmates, but also experience the despair of her own failure! In the end I think she's going to play both sides a bit by totally supporting Mukuro and telling her to give her all against the invaders, but then she simultaneously will play the role of the fashionista who doesn't want to fight, keeping her own analytical skills out of the equation while she watches the slaughter from inside the academy. And her Ultimate Analyst skills are going to help her to ascertain the whole truth behind what's going on well before anyone else can. Knowing those dark truths first and then not telling anyone, not even her own sister, about what's actually behind all this... having to carry that knowledge alone... how despairful. And how delightful it will be when the rest of her classmates must face the despair-inducing truth...

Dandadan Episode 7 Review - A Mother's Love

If Episode 4 hasn’t put Science Saru on the map for high quality animation, then this episode surely did. I haven’t read the source material, but even as an anime-only watcher, I can definitely see the love and passion the studio puts into this. It’s crazy how a Japanese anime studio owned by a Korean person can make such invigorating quality.

The rest of the fight with Acrobatic Silky was animated well. I love how the kids outwitted her by running away just so her hair gets caught in the nook and cranny of the warehouse. Okarun manages to defeat her by going full throttle. However, their victory isn’t a happy one as devouring Aira caused her to die. Turbo Granny explained that since she’s an ordinary person, being devoured by a spirit would easily kill someone. I sort of like that detail, honestly. There’s no anime logic about how she could survive this. She’s dead and that is what the rest of the episode is about. 

What I also like is that seeing her dead easily causes Momo and Okarun to start doing what they can like telling Turbo Granny to call the ambulance and for Momo to resuscitate her using her psychic hands. Though, it does feel odd that a group of teenagers know how to resuscitate someone so skillfully, even if it’s an attempt. They’re both not doctors and are on the opposite spectrum of them. The only way she can be saved is having Acrobatic Silky connect her aura to Aira’s like connecting two cords together.

That’s where the highlight of the episode comes in the form of Silky’s tragic backstory. Man, it broke my heart seeing Silky’s life before her unfortunate end. She was a single mother working as a prostitute alongside several jobs in order to provide for her and her beloved daughter who was her entire world and her purpose for living. Her daughter was sweet in that she was essentially her light in her life. She worked hard in order to buy the red dress that eventually becomes what she wears as a ghost and she was also teaching her daughter ballet. The tragedy comes from debt collectors or mobsters coming in to assault her and then they later took her daughter away, which is severely tragic because the sequences of her life before the tragedy shows that her daughter just celebrated her fifth birthday. If the mobsters are related to trafficking, this means that her daughter’s fate became that of a trafficked child and that’s horrendous in itself. Also, props to Hina Kino for voicing the daughter. She's excellent at creating a child-like voice, especially with how she wailed.

Silky’s dance sequence before meeting her end was seriously beautiful, yet so tragic. The scenery with the starry night was gorgeous but Silky starts dancing. Ballet is an elegant, graceful and poised style of dancing and that’s how she decided to meet her end. The way it was animated was so gorgeous. Also, if you noticed, Silky’s dancing was used in the full music video of Dandadan’s opening song.

There are some people out there wondering if Silky’s daughter is Aira. She’s not. When Silky became a ghost, she could only stand listlessly until little Aira came and mistook her for her recently deceased mother. Realizing that she had a daughter, Silky latched onto Aira and decided to protect her until it became obsessive and psychotic. 

This sequence also showcases why Aira behaved the way she did earlier. She’s a narcissist primarily because of what her father had said about her needing to become stronger in order to let her mother be proud of her once she sees her again. That was why she developed a high self-confidence in order to one day show her late mother. She may have been insufferable before but the memories have completely humbled her. The way she hugged Silky just so she could have solace and not be forgotten in death was such a powerful scene. This shows that underneath her pompous attitude, Aira had a kind heart. My opinion of her instantly changed after this. Wow. I legit shed some tears.

I wonder if Dandadan’s story is just encountering a ghost or an alien and learning of their stories or what not. There doesn’t seem to be an overall grand scheme of things. I like that honestly. It’s just a story about kids encountering the supernatural and learning a lot of life lessons amidst the craziness. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Anyways, what are your thoughts about this episode?

Or maybe we go with yae to mess with gorou, and in the process meet kokomi? Ooh or we go with her to a meeting and meet the kamisato siblings! Or perhaps kujou Sara went with Raiden? Today there was supposed to be another ‘execution’. (Vision taking)

Instead, there was a small fox sleeping on the Raiden Shogun’s platform, blocking her path.

That fox, was you.

Honestly? People thought she’d kick poor you, but instead she gently pushed you with her foot. (‘Still technically a kick.’ Some people in the crowd thought)

But the small fox with a strikingly large tail didn’t budge. In fact, you swatted at her shoe, turning over and… lying. On her shoe.

She glanced at her guards - who shrugged- before nudging you again. This time, however, you made a noise of disagreement, and swatted at her leg.

With your claws.

Effectively ripping the fabric.

…Uh oh.

Her eyes narrowed, and forced you off with a little more force, forcing you to awake. Naturally, you were just a little pissy that you nap was rudely interrupted by some prissy bitch with ass shorts, so you did the only logical thing a god in fox form would do.

Summon ancient yōkai, no duh.

Large oni with red and blue skin emerged from the bushes, their bodies imbedded with the power of geo, causing rampant chaos. Kitsune appeared from the shadows, luring men and women alike away for… let’s just say mischief. Kappa stole children away into the water, forcing them to swim home, laughing at their misery.

What? You didn’t actually want to kill people! Killing causes death, man! That shit kills you!

Glancing back up at the Shogun, you shook your body and licked at your fur, looking for someone.

“HEY!!! LITTLE FOX!!! OVER HERE!!!!” There he was.

Sticking your tail up at the Shogun, you jumped off the platform, and moved onto the Main Street, weaving through the crowd running from oni, and finally making it to your friend.

Arataki Itto. Your numero uno.

Holding a palm out, you quickly scale his body, laying down around his shoulders, resting your head on his. Felling your tail getting scratched, you noted that Shinobu was also here. Neat.

“YEAH!! TAKE THAT RAIDEN SHOGUN!! YOU GOT TAKEN OUT BY A FOX HAHAHAHA!!!!”

Normally you would’ve taken offense… if you weren’t already asleep again.

And with that, the Itto gang ran off, leaving a now extremely pissed off Shogun. Though a chuckle sounded behind her.

“Well then, a new fox.~ Whatever shall we do?~”

“Not now, Yae.”

All that matters to you was that your little group was safe, and that you could sleep in peace.

So recently I made a post about why I think Chihiro makes the most sense within the context of her own story as a transfem. It was a post made right after an all nighter, so I'm honestly surprised how coherent I was able to make it lol, but anyways, I wanted to keep talking about it. I think I covered pretty well about why Chihiro being trans is more impactful for her, but not so much why transfem specifically, and not transmasc. Basically, the goal of this post is to explain why I think a lot of people are weirded out by the transmasc headcanon in a way that hopefully doesn't feel like an attack

I'm well aware that a lot of people that enjoy transmasc Chihiro are transmasc themselves, and see themselves in said interpretation. This is generally true of a lot of trans interpretations of characters, but especially here, as the canon explanation of Chihiro's character is "he feels immensely uncomfortable pretending to be a girl so people won't make fun of him." I myself used to adore the transmasc headcanon. I hc'd Chihiro as wearing a packer, that Kyoko could tell it was an artificial dick, and everything that followed was the class being Super Cool about trans people because it just seemed like the easiest out for all the transphobia within her story. Besides, I quite liked Chihiro, and 'boy who feels like he must dress like a girl for people to assume his identity' was something I related to a lot.

The thing is, the more I looked into that interpretation, the less sense it starts to make. Again, as a GNC trans man, I like to wear skirts and things like that. Clothes don't have gender, after all, and they can be way more comfortable than pants, especially when you don't shave. But Chihiro isn't GNC. Her story as it's meant to be interpreted expressly says feminine clothing makes her feel lesser than. She's described (by Monokuma ofc) as hating said femininity. It makes her feel weaker, like those skirts and female identity is an inherent weakness. And that's what I think the main problem is; even when under the guide of being a trans man, Chihiro's story still falls as one rooted in misogyny as most logically presented.

The story presented in chapter 2 is inherently male-centric, to the point where its title is "Boys' Life of Despair". It's a story about men, questioning the identity of men, and focused wholly on men. The one (canonically) fem character that's important to the chapter's plot is Toko, and only to perpetuate an ableist trope as a red herring. Even then, when Syo reveals herself, all her dialogue is explaining why men are so important to her. I don't think having a subplot that focuses on male characters or the concept of masculinity is a bad idea on paper, especially not when within the confines of an overarching plot that very much does utilize women as leading characters, but in practice, the plotline about toxic masculinity is used *at the expense of* women, rather than existing in tandem with them.

Throughout the entire chapter, it's established that women are weaker via Chihiro. When Mondo says that women are naturally weaker, Chihiro starts crying, and Mondo is made to apologize. HOWEVER, the reason he apologizes is not because of the blatant misogyny of the statement, but rather, because he yelled too loud. Even when Hina and Sakura are involved in the conversation, neither of them seem to care about the sexism. Even in the stage play, when Sakura DOES take offense to it, it's shrugged off as a gag, with Mondo saying she's 'special.' Sakura is held as an exception to the rule. AT NO POINT IN THIS CHAPTER IS THE ASSERTION THAT WOMEN ARE INHERENTLY WEAKER THAN MEN EVER CONTESTED. Later in the same chapter, Makoto (the player character whom we're supposed to be projecting onto) says that Mondo was right, and that girls aren't strong.

Chihiro's backstory and the way she views herself *as presented by others* only reinforces this idea. The parallels between Chihiro and Mondo are a story about strength and weakness. Chihiro is physically weak but mentally strong, and Mondo is physically strong but mentally weak. This is the point of them being paired together, and the foundation upon which everything else found in the chapter is built on. So when you have Chihiro, a canonical man who wears skirts, and give her an inferiority complex about her weakness that's inherently tied to how similar she is to women, you end up with an inherently misogynistic narrative. According to Danganronpa, Chihiro is weak BECAUSE of her similarities to women, as is enforced by the language used and the presentation of Chihiro's identity. Similarly, the assertion that Chihiro makes to Mondo defining her 'mental strength' is the assertion to no longer be fem-presenting, to destroy everything feminine about her and to become a 'real man' like how she perceives Mondo. This part by itself could be interpreted as transmasc, but when paired with the rest of the chapter's insistence of the weakness of women? It's not transphobic anymore, sure, but it still has that inherent core of misogyny, without any real acknowledgement or deconstruction of it in the way that the transfem headcanon does.

Ultimately, fiction is meant to be interpreted by those who consume it, and you can fanonize as much as you want. Just don't be too surprised when women, especially trans women, don't like the way you're interpreting it. It is always worth deconstructing your own biases and the way you consume media

Yuu x Kengan Ashura

Yuu is a boy who, at first glance, seemed skinny, short (150 cm), and with large glasses that made him look like a nerd. A human from another world, who was accepted into a magic school without possessing any of it. His attitude also didn't help much since he didn't like to draw attention to himself, avoided fights, and always looked for a quiet place to read a book. Even in Ace and Deuce's fights, he tried to be the voice of reason to prevent them from continuing to insult each other. A kind person willing to help without asking for anything in return. That's how all the kids at Night Raven College saw Yuu… They never imagined that the magicless human they saw paying close attention in class and always trying to get the best average… was a former professional wrestler, who was sponsored by a large company to fight in the Kengan tournament, placing as one of the three finalists.

They just didn't see the worked body of a former wrestler.

The walk along the main path was like any other. Ace and Deuce kept complaining about the endless monotony of Trey's class, while Grim, as always, complained about being hungry, and Yuu, as usual, listened silently, without intervening too much, lost in his own thoughts as the sun bathed the path in a warm light.

A few feet away from them, on the training ground, Lilia and Leona were engaged in a fierce soccer dispute. It was clear their competition had escalated to a level beyond friendly, and Trey and Cater watched from a distance with worried expressions.

"If that ball goes flying towards someone…" Trey muttered, adjusting his glasses.

"They're going straight to the hospital" Cater added worriedly.

The worst-case scenario materialized in an instant.

Lilia, taking things to the extreme , kicked with such force that the ball shot out like a cannonball. At that moment, everything seemed to stop. The ball's trajectory was clear: it was heading straight for Ace, who barely had time to react.

Lilia tried to intervene, but even her supernatural speed wasn't enough to reach it in time. Ace closed his eyes in resignation, waiting for the impact and the inevitable pain.

But then, the unthinkable happened.

In a move that defied all logic, Yuu stepped forward. With superhuman reflexes, he stood in front of Ace and, with impeccable precision, lifted his leg. The force of the kick that returned the ball resounded like thunder, and the ball crossed the field in a flash, scoring directly in Lilia's goal.

For a moment, the world fell silent.

Yuu's leg was still smoking from the friction of the impact, while his teammates and the players on the field watched, paralyzed with amazement. Grim dropped his half-eaten tuna; Ace and Deuce could barely process what they had just witnessed.

Yuu simply adjusted his glasses, as if nothing had happened, while everyone remained motionless, completely stunned.

I've had this as a draft. Honestly, the idea isn't as long as I'd like it to be, but it's what came out.

I'm a manga fan. I like to see twists and turns (even if they involve absurd situations), but a story doesn't always have to follow the laws of physics. I remember it was recommended to me on TikTok, so I started it. Then the author released one that I MEGA LOVE called "Star Strike It Rich."

Anyway, I wasn't planning on doing a Twisted Wonderland crossover, but I found a fanfic on Wattpad about the boys' reaction to a Yuu from the world of Kengan Ashura. Type: Character X reaction.

I wanted to do something similar, although instead of reactions, it's a scene.

Theory: The Original Owner of Makoto Naegi’s Dorm Room Was Junko Enoshima

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the dorm layout in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc...

There’s a mystery that’s always stuck with me:

Why are there only 15 dorm rooms when there were originally 16 students? There had to have been a 16th dorm at some point. So what happened to it and who occupied it? It must have been Mukuro right?

Then there's this oddly specific detail: Makoto Naegi’s bathroom door doesn’t fit the frame properly. Monokuma even comments on it, he tells Makoto he has to lift the door to get it open. It’s the only dorm with this problem.

The game brushes it off as Makoto’s “bad luck,” but come on, would Hope’s Peak really leave a dorm defect like that unfixed for three years?

It doesn’t add up.

And that’s where my theory begins.

What if Makoto’s current dorm room… used to belong to none other than herself Junko Enoshima?

And what if Makoto’s actual original room was the missing 16th dorm. The one next to the trash room and Hifumi?

We know Junko (and Mukuro) had full control of the school layout during the memory-wiping and setup phase. They had the time, authority, and motivation to swap rooms or erase evidence of a dorm entirely.

If a dorm had to be erased, Makoto makes the most sense as the one to lose his.

That hallway where Hifumi, Hiro, and Leon are located, is all boys. Placing Makoto there would maintain the gender logic used in the rest of the dorm assignments. It wouldn't make sense if that was Junko or Mukuro's room. And narratively? Of course the Ultimate Lucky Student would get the worst room: isolated, far from others, and right next to the garbage incinerator.

Why was Makoto's room originally Junko’s Room?

The order of the dorms never really seemed to have a consistent pattern. It is kinda weird that Makoto and Chihiro are the only people there are seated between those of the opposite gender. Then consider that Chihiro was largely assumed to be a girl and Makoto his placement stands out even more.

Now look at the bottom-left dorm row:

Kyoko, ???, Sayaka, Toko, Chihiro, Hina

Let’s assume that ??? is Junko.

Once you remove Makoto from that row and slot Junko in, a pattern emerges: Every person in that row is a celebrity, public figure, or otherwise strategically important—and many are perceived as more "frail" or in need of protection. With the most important ones being the closest to the stairs to the 2nd floor which leads to the faculty:

Kyoko – Headmaster’s daughter

Junko – Supermodel and media icon

Sayaka – National pop idol

Toko – Prodigy author

Chihiro – Famed programmer

Hina – Olympic-tier athlete

This starts to look deliberately organized: a row for Hope’s Peak’s most "valuable" and visible female students.

Makoto, a random lottery pick, doesn’t belong in that row.

Unless... it wasn’t his room to begin with.

The Bathroom Door Mystery

Makoto’s room has a bathroom door that doesn’t fit.

Lets break it down:

Female dorms have bathroom locks

Male dorms do not

Makoto’s door doesn’t lock, but also doesn’t fit the frame

What if Junko (and Mukuro) swapped out the bathroom door to make Junko’s room look like a boy’s room before the killing game began?

They would’ve had to replace the door entirely and installing Makoto's original door from his old room. But since the boys’ bathroom doors were slightly different in size… it didn’t fit quite right. They forced it in anyway, creating the janky, misaligned door we see in-game.

And that explains why Monokuma knows about the issue: Junko caused it herself.

It would also explain why she was able to enter his room in chapter 5 despite Kyoko having the master key.

TL;DR – Was Makoto living in Junko’s room?

There are only 15 dorm rooms shown, but 16 students—one room is missing.

The space next to the trash room fits a hidden 16th dorm perfectly. That was likely Makoto’s original room.

Junko’s original room was likely the one Makoto wakes up in—it’s in a row full of high-profile, “celebrity” girls.

Junko and Mukuro had full access during the memory wipe. They could swap rooms, nameplates, and UI freely.

The reason Makoto’s bathroom door doesn’t fit? It was originally a girl’s room. Junko/Mukuro likely swapped in a boy’s bathroom door, but the size difference made it misaligned.

Monokuma knowing about the door supports this theory—Junko made the swap herself.

Meanwhile, Mukuro’s room never changed, it was always hers. Only her name was replaced with Junko’s in the UI and nameplate to sell the disguise.

Marriage of convenience Sasuke & Hinata would be worth it on Hijinks alone. every conversation with Sasuke takes 10 months off of Hiashi's life, which is what hina is REALLY looking for in a life partner (Naruto would have also fulfilled this requirement, of course). Kiba and Shino give him shovel talks and he's like 'we aren't even actually together?' and they're like 'yeah, duh, and? that's not the point the point is that if she's ever sad we will kill you'. They don't even pretend to know anything about each other. They are both trying to date Naruto and/or Sakura but Naruto doesn't understand clan politics and would NEVER betray either of his friends by being the other man in a relationship!! and Sakura would totally be down except her and Naruto accidentally started dating last month and it's actually going (not so) surprisingly well. Hinata marries out of the clan ostensibly to 'help Sasuke rebuild his clan', even though really he's just gonna cash in some favors with Orochimaru and get a bunch of close babies out of the eyes Danzo oh-so-helpfully preserved for years (though this is a point of moral contention- is this desecrating the corpses of his families, or continuing their legacy that would otherwise die with him?) Sasuke and Hinata raising baby-Obito-clone would be like crack cocaine for the soul. Sasuke blows off revolutionary steam by abolishing slavery and probably killing Hiashi eventually. The logical endpoint after many hijinx is Naru/sasu/saku/hina poly relationship except HInata and Sasuke STILL aren't remotely interested in each other. Despite being the only ones married. People get increasingly confused and concerned about the Byakugan not showing up in any of these kids, or honestly any of Hinata's traits, and the fact that Hinata is never pregnant. Hanabi reprimands them for being transphobic and then goes over to have tea with her sister and gets accused of hate crimes for poisoning Sasuke's tea. Can't blame a girl for trying.

Hey jojo. i watched the anime not that long ago and there was a line with mikey’s first interaction with hina that made me think a bit. “it’s rare to find someone like her so make sure you take good care of her.” and it made me think that mikey might’ve had a couple girlfriends that broke his heart in the past, would you say that’s what he meant with that or did he mean that in general?

Well we never see any hints of Mikey having past love interests or even being interested in that sort of thing. I'd say he said it more in general, but if he was thinking of anyone then I think it would actually be Shinichiro here. Since he knows Shinichiro tried to get a girlfriend many times but could never get one. Plus he says Takemichi reminds him of Shinichiro later on that day, so I think Shinichiro would be the more logical answer here but who really knows.

I have high hopes for this manga, and want to paint a picture of what to expect for those who also want to get into it♡

Story Direction and Expectations

I trust Wakui. The way he explores his stories is through character bonds and personal ideals.

This is one of the reasons why I grew so fond of Tokyo Revengers.

Plus… it’s Found-Family Gang activity. It’s my soft spot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I would say Yakuza but I want to be respectful in how I throw that word around, so I’ll avoid it for now if I can.

The supernatural powers that get involved will surely lead to a type of succession war between the siblings.

“What it means to be strong” will probably be the fundamental lesson of the story.

I am so excited to see how Negai no Astro will progress!

Her brother is an idiot.

She knows her brother is an idiot. It doesn’t matter what version of him he is. She stares at him for a long minute, unimpressed. He wilts under her gaze as Hinata giggles at the two of them. Chifuyu is watching like it’s one of his shows.

“You forgot White day, didn’t you?”

“What? No!” He exclaims but the way he shifts and nervously looks at Hinata gives him away. He switches tactics to change the focus. “Like you can talk! You never got a white day gift!”

“Yeah, because I never gave chocolates,” she says smugly.

“You never gave chocolates?” Chifuyu asks, looking at her in surprise.

“No, why would I?”

“Not…not even to Mikey?”

“Why would I?” she repeats before remembering she’s supposed to be nicer than that. “Besides, if I gave it to one person, I’d have to give them to others and there’s no way I’m making chocolates. I don’t bake.” person

“But-”

“I’m going back,” Takemichi cuts off whatever Chifuyu was going to say. “Now.”

“Oh.” Takara looks at him. Logically she knows her brother isn’t really going anywhere, but he is. The one left in his place, the one that actually belongs, doesn’t feel the same. They don’t have that same connection. Maybe because this Takemichi is as out of place as she is. When he leaves, she’s going to be alone.

No, she reminds herself. She’ll have Mikey. The two of them will protect everyone.

Takara smiles softly at Takemichi and nods. “Okay. Then I guess I’ll see you in twelve years.”

“Yeah…” Takemichi pulls her in for a hug. She tightens her own grip around him, trying to remember this moment. “Thank you,” he says. “Thank you for everything. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you, Taka.”

“Yes, you would,” she says back quietly. “You might not have a brain in that empty head of yours, but you’re determined. Don’t worry, okay? I’ll look after Hinata and you and everyone.”

He gives a small laugh. “That’s what Mikey said.”

“Yeah? Well, then you know the future is safe. Be happy, Take.”

“You too.”

“Don’t worry,” Takara smiles. “I will be.” It might be a lie but that’s fine. He doesn’t need to know that.

Naoto shows up and has the same slight panic about the proposal that she did. She listens as Takemichi tells him it’s the same location they first shook hands at. Her throat tightens as she watches them clasp hands. Takemichi looks at them and smiles.

“Chifuyu. Hina. Takara. Let’s meet again in the future.”

There’s a second and she sees the switch. The way that confidence shifts and Takemichi looks around, confused. “What…are you all doing here?” He asks. She always wondered how much he remembered when he came back…or when he left himself.

She can’t resist the opportunity though and she winks at Hinata before she leans forward and grins at her younger brother. “We’re watching you propose to Hina.”

“What?” Takemichi looks at Hinata in alarm, and Takara grins when she sees Hinata lift up her hand with the ring he gave her.

“I said yes!” Hinata smiles. “I can’t wait to tell my parents!”

“What?!” Takemichi yells at her in alarm. “I didn’t–they’ll kill me!”

“Probably,” Takara nods. “I’ll be sure to tell our parents you tried to give them grandchildren at such an early age. Maybe then I’ll be their favourite.”

“Takara!” He whines. “You can’t!”

“I can,” she grins. “Unless you wanna beg?”

“Takara, don’t torture my husband like that.”

“Husband?!” Takemichi nearly falls in shock and Takara can’t keep the charade up. She cracks up laughing. Hinata giggles, watching her boyfriend stumble and Chifuyu laughs with them. Naoto looks at them like they’re insane.

“That’s what you get when you forget white day.”

Takara waves them off as Takemichi begs Hinata for forgiveness. Chifuyu follows her as they leave Hinata to deal with him.

“What are you gonna do now?” Chifuyu asks, shoving his hands in his pockets as they walk.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, Takemichi’s your brother, right? You still going to hang with us?”

“Because it’s every older sister’s wish to hang out with her little brother and his friends,” she says dryly.

“You know what I mean. Toman’s made up of your friends too. It’s not like we’re all disappearing just cause this is over. I know a bunch of us are going to finish school but I don’t know who will go to high school. Maybe Mitsuya.”

“Yeah, he seems the type.”

“So what about you?”

“I’m gonna finish school too,” she says. “After that, who knows.” She knows what she’s going to do, what she’s already started to do, but none of it involves the people around her now. “Maybe now I can actually make friends with people my own age,” she jokes.

“Some of the guys are your age! Draken and Mikey and Mitsuya…” he starts listing people and she rolls her eyes.

“Yeah, but I meant friends who are just my friends. That I don’t know because my idiot brother got involved with a gang. We can all just lead a normal life now,” she says. It tastes like ash in her mouth but she ignores it.

“What about you and Mikey?”

“What about me and Mikey?” She looks at him out of the corner of her eye.

“Well, aren’t you two…?” he trails off. “I mean, we all saw you at the rink. I’ve never seen him like that.”

“What? Having fun?”

Chifuyu shrugs. “He only really acts like that when he’s fighting.”

“You sure about that?” she asks, knowing it only drives his theory in deeper. “What are you gonna do? Now that Toman’s over.”

“I don’t know,” he puts his hands on the back of his head and looks up to the sky. “I think something with animals. I like them. Baji always wanted to be a vet but maybe I can open a store or something.”

“Like a pet store?”

“Takara.”

It’s been days since Takemichi left and Takara is on her way to meet Mikey so they can go over the first steps. She has ideas but it’ll be his choice on what they follow. He knows more than her, she can admit that.

“Takara.”

She turns, realizing that someone’s calling her name. She slows in her skating before stopping. It takes a second before she realizes who it is.

“Kakucho.” She moves forward, looking over him quickly. “You’re out already?” He’s dressed in casual clothes but there’s no mistaking him. The scar across his face, the way he’s moving slowly like he’s still injured, or at least still healing.

“They released me a couple days ago. I’ve been trying to find you.”

“Me?” she looks up at him in surprise before she shifts back, getting ready to run for it if she needs to. It’s strange having to crane her neck to see him when she used to look down at him before. When he was little…and…Takara shakes her head, trying to ignore how easily a memory she’s never actually lived comes to her. “Why?”

“To thank you.” He doesn’t hold up his hands but he also doesn’t shove them in his pockets as if he’s going to grab something. Kakucho just watches her as he talks. “You tried to save Izana.”

“I did,” she nods. Kakucho bows and Takara stares in shock at the ninety-degree angle he reaches. She moves forward instantly, trying to get him to stand. “Stop that!”

“Thank you, Takara, for trying to save him. He was my king, my friend…my brother…”

“Get up!” she snaps. “Or I’m not accepting!”

That makes him straighten. “But-”

“No buts. You don’t need to bow to me, Kakucho. I’ve known you since you were a kid. You don’t have to thank me for trying not to let someone die.”

“We were fighting against you. He ordered Emma’s death.”

“I know,” she says, swallowing tightly at the reminder of her friend. “But I didn’t want to watch anyone else die. Not when I could do something about it. Not because of one stupid fucking choice a kid made in his obsession.”

“I didn’t know about the gun.”

“Yeah, I got that from your expression when he pulled it out. I don’t think anyone did. Except maybe that asshole Hanma.”

Kakucho’s expression darkens at the mention of him. “I warned Izana about them. About Kisaki.”

“Yeah, well, sometimes that doesn’t work.”

“I heard Toman’s disbanded.”

“Yeah,” Takara nods. She skates a little back and forth to keep herself in place. “My brother said they wanted to end on a high note.”

Kakucho smiles slightly. “He came to see me. Told me about Kisaki’s death…is he doing okay?”

“As well as he can be. You could go visit him.”

“No,” Kakucho shakes his head. “We’re…we’re in two different worlds. Takemichi doesn’t need me.” He takes a deep breath. “Izana told me you threatened him when he met you.”

“He was being a creep,” she says. “Didn’t even introduce himself, just sat down and started talking about how he heard about me.”

“Yeah, he said…he could see why so many men liked you.”

Takara scowls. “That doesn’t sound like a compliment.”

It makes him laugh. “He wanted to make you his queen. For a guy who only saw others as servants, that’s the highest compliment he could give.”

“What are you going to do now?” she asks, ignoring the remark.

“I don’t know,” he admits. “I’m not…I had expected Tenjiku to be absorbed by Toman but since it doesn’t exist anymore…”

“You don’t want to finish school? Find a normal job?”

He shakes his head. “I don’t think I’d ever fit there. Besides, no one’s going to hire a delinquent like me.”

“Huh.” Takara eyes him carefully. She could use him, could use that kind of loyalty. “Well, if I hear anything, I’ll let you know. You got a cell?”

“Yeah.”

She makes him exchange numbers with her before she parts ways. She’s late to meet Mikey but with this, she thinks he’ll forgive her. They can use this.

Banana Rambles: Tokyo Revengers Edition -- Part 3

I applaud Wakui for writing an array of complex characters, like Mikey, whose dark impulses originated out of Shinichiro's love for him, and Kisaki, who used his obsession towards Hina to get into the top simply because he secretly admired Takemichi. But he created a lot of characters to the point that he failed utilizing each of them that should help the readers and viewers to connect with them somehow.

He also wrote misunderstood but actually beautifully-written characters, like Takemichi. Let's all admit, nearly half of the fandom hated him for being a crybaby (and hell some pretending to be fans totally hate crybaby characters) and a sissy, but I believe he's the realest and the most relatable at some points. And duh -- Hina wouldn't even bother falling in love with him at first sight if he didn't do that stupid heroic act which made her believe that he's the bravest person she met in her life.

Have you seen that part of the spinoff where Baji, with a fractured left arm, MANAGED TO LIFT A HEAVY SHELF WITH JUST ONE FUCKING FUNCTIONING ARM!?

Some chapters in the spinoff were cute, slice-of-life school scenes -- until those heavy drama going to the 'present' a week after Baji's death.

It took me months before realizing that Emma was never present in the current timeline -- because she died in the past. That triggered Mikey's hidden dark urges to go uncontrollable that he had to disband Toman to save their futures.

I was even hoping that, in the good timeline, Koko would end up with Akane -- but nooo, he outgrew his feelings towards her as he grew up.

I wonder if Akane was, actually, one of those twenty girls who dumped Shinichiro.

Fairy Tale Revengers was the cutest thing they have developed since sliced bread. But JUSTICE FOR KOKO AND INUPI FOR BEING MISTREATED IN EVERY STORY.

Please don't show me Mikey in his vegetative state, I'll definitely cry.

Have you ever wondered who that mysterious old time leaper was before he was killed by Shinichiro to get his power?

Above all, how the fuck time leapers began to exist in that manga!?

If I were Takemichi, I would be baffled as well at how jacked Draken was at only fifteen (until, duh, anime and manga logic, like if you're a Jojo fan, you'll understand). Emma is, indeed, the luckiest girl alive.

Did Pah-chin financed their uniforms when Mitsuya made them?

We never heard about Kazutora's shit of a father after he was taken to juvie. He's actually to blame for his son's mental issues.

Baji might have only served a light sentence 'as an accomplice for Shinichiro's death', which was why he managed to remain in Toman until he learned of Kazutora's early release.

I nominate TsudaKen to be Takeomi Akashi's seiyuu.

If anyone would voice South, my prediction would be either Kiiyan (GRANRODEO frontman) or Makoto Furukawa. Watch their live performances and you'll understand why. Because, well, if South was ranked the best singer canonically, they should pick someone with powerful vocals too.

Expect me NOT TO SHUT UP once Season 4 trailer has been released. The biggest question now is when.
