Addressing Islamophobia & Hindutva in the UK | Rajiv Sinha on BBC Islamophobia is a growing crisis in the UK, accounting for nearly half of all religious hate crimes. But how should we tackle it? In this BBC discussion, Rajiv Sinha, Director of Hindus for Human Rights UK, argues that while addressing Islamophobia is essential, relying solely on new definitions and legislation may not be the answer. Instead, he highlights the need to apply existing laws equally to all communities to avoid creating a hierarchy of religious protections. Sinha also warns against bad-faith actors—pointing to the rise of Hindutva (Hindu nationalism), which has radicalized parts of the Hindu community and threatens both social harmony and the fight against religious hate.
