Aquila (left) and Nikola (right) are yuemen (pronounced “you-men”), which is a butterfly-like species that hails from the moon Yue (infuriatingly pronounced “you.”), that orbits the planet Blue. Most of the time they look a lot like humans. [ZINNIA BURGUNDY: A common misconception. In fact, yuemen are genetically closer to trolls than humans.] Some standout differences are their antennae, colorful dots on their faces, and little wings on the top of their head. They also gain a secondary form in adolescence known as the “critter form.” [ZINNIA BURGUNDY: We will discuss the semi-feral bug transformation at a later date. Ideally, when we have more pictures.] For now, enjoy.

Note1: I love using common words as names, but there will be other options as well :)

Note2: I find translations and meanings on google; of course I don't know all the languages of the world. So if I fuck-up some names, pardon :( (I can't fuck-up italian names cuz I'm italian tho lolz).

Note3: I will add names to sprites that already had one or more in the other post.

Note4: Many characters miss, and I WANT to make a THIRD part!!! So don't worry too much about it (but you can totally contribute if you want :) ).

Note5: No ship tagged cuz it's not a ship list lolz, but you can consider it like that if you want :3

CANON SPRITES:

Tavrisprite = Ferox

>❣ Ferox: In Latin it can mean both wild (like the wild animals Tavros likes so much) but also fierce and spirited (like Vriska).

NON-CANON, RANDOM ORDER:

Betakidsprite (John, Jade, Rose, Dave) = Eather

>Eather: One of the classical elements that compose reality, along with Earth (Jade, her passion for gardening), Air (John, his Aspect), Fire (Dave, his land) and Water (Rose, her land).

Davejadesprite = Eonee, Relat, Besselle, Altair

>❣ Eonee: Eon, an undescribable amount of time. With an ee sound at the end, to make it sound like Uni, for universe. >❣ Relat: Short for relativity, as in the theory of relativity, which details the differences between how the speed at which objects move through space affects the way they experience time. >❣ Besselle: From Bessel, the scientist who came up with the term light-year. >Altair: From Greek, it can be translated as the flying one or bird, but it's also the name of the Aquila constellation [perfect name for Davejadesprite^2].

^I already made one name for them in the other post (Saros), but I wasn't satisfied and didn't know what else search/put. So SPECIAL-SPECIAL thanks for this one!

*little note I told her too: "Topi" in italian means "Rats" :3 IDK, just to say, it's cute.

>Cielo: It's an italian word (rarely a masculine name), that literally means "Sky" — reason: Sky=John, The clouds or stars (that are in the sky!)=Jade.

Janejohnsprite = Azzurro/a, Brio

>Azzurro/a: Azzurro in Italian literally means Light Blue, it can be used as a name. Azzurro=masculine, Azzurra=femminine.

>Brio: Liveliness or vigour; spirit. [At least in italian:] Brio is something that tingles you, like a breeze up your back.

RIDDLE ME THE 48 TROLL SIGNS

Remember in Homestuck, there are 48 important troll signs.

Consider.

If there are 48 Signs, or rather, 48 Troll Signs.

When it comes to the astrological and astronomical associations of the 12 Troll Signs we know, that means that those 12 are apart of the 48. Which means that 36 are unseen.

And what does that mean?

Well, in Astronomy, there were once 48 constellations (Today, we have 88, but we’re not getting into those), 12 of course are our astrology signs.

“But Abrasive Homestuck Theorist, what about the signs in our Troll Sign quiz?”

Easy, my imaginary question asker.

It means that the Quiz we received is Incomplete, Lore-Wise. Complete for our purposes of Astrology and for the Purposes of Hiveswap, but not the complete picture of troll society.

Just a Quarter chunk of it (And it is a Biiiiig Chunk).

Our typical 12 blood types, each with 24 unique signs under each, leading to 288 total signs (With possibly a untold number of trolls that may share signs / ancestors).

What the other 36 mean, is that now, not only are there actually 48 unique signs... But that there are actually 1152 Signs in total. And yes, that counts Ophiuchus as one of them.

i dont have much on aquila, but she was the first character i designed. her design gradually changed the more i drew her over the course of the year, but the basics were pretty much already there

then, throughout the year i was trying to find a way to combine the homestuck style with my own, which pretty much guided the finalization of her design

first we’ve got whatever this is from 2016:

i cant get over the drawing honestly, that is such a vacant expression

eventually i gave her those double cockatiel crests and made her look a lot more like an eagle, lmao

there we go! she eventually became more rounded and simplified as i drew her over and over

i came across this drawing of them both which i think is still a favorite! looks like theyre both in a sort of midpoint between their first and final designs
