last night my friends and i were joking about what to double feature homotopia with and i suggested lou sullivan’s favorite 70s gay porno, but even though i knew it was archived online i hadn't watched it before. i pulled it up on my phone and it turns out raw country is TWO HOURS LONG so we decided not to watch it and the whole rest of the conversation i was doing the subway surfers split screen thing with my friends conversation and a forest glade of young men fucking and sucking raw

Converse's 10th Annual Pride Campaign Honors the Trailblazing Spirit of the LGBTQIA+ Community

After a decade of celebrating the trailblazing spirit of the LGBTQIA+ community, Converse continues to invest in organizations that create spaces and opportunities for LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive youth to learn, develop, and thrive. Since launching its first Pride campaign and collection in 2015, Converse has pledged and donated nearly $3 million to organizations serving the LGBTQIA+ community.

Converse’s 2024 Proud to Be collection introduces the Run Star Utility Sandal CX alongside restyled footwear classics and accompanying apparel. In its 10th annual Pride campaign, Converse reaffirms its commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community through social and community-impact partnerships and its annual Proud to Be collection.

Since 2015, Converse has supported LGBTQIA+ organizations like the It Gets Better Project, a global partner that uses the internet to create community and show youth that things do get better.

This year, Converse is also partnering with organizations worldwide, including:

The Ali Forney Center in New York City, protecting and empowering homeless LGBTQIA+ youth

The Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth (BAGLY), advocating for LGBTQIA+ youth programs

The Theater Offensive in Boston, producing art by and about queer and transgender people of color

COC Netherlands, educating and empowering LGBTQIA+ communities globally

Homotopia in Liverpool, England, and IGLYO in Belgium, amplifying LGBTQIA+ youth voices through creativity and storytelling

Minus18, Australia’s largest youth-driven nonprofit supporting LGBTQIA+ young people and promoting allyship

This year’s Proud to Be collection, designed by Converse LGBTQIA+ employees and allies, features a Western-inspired aesthetic with vibrant colors that empower individuals to live unapologetically.

Converse enlisted photographer Cully Wright to capture the essence of its 2024 campaign. Wright's work represents various queer experiences, focusing on the tenderness and peace of authentic love, showing the power of standing in one’s truth. “When we create a safe space to fully express who we are, we allow others to do the same,” says Wright. “The more diversity showcased in art, entertainment, and media, the more opportunities for acceptance.”

Wright’s role highlights Converse’s commitment to celebrating the community by showcasing creators who push boundaries and build a future where everyone can be their full selves. Past campaigns featured creative voices like Big Freedia, Richie Shazam, Alexis Sablone, and Munachi Osegbu.

The 2024 collection includes unique design details such as a Run Star Utility Sandal CX colorway featuring the transgender flag and a Chuck 70 with a platinum upper and harness-inspired embellishment. Western embroidery, prismatic Chuck patches and license plates, and neon-rainbow outsoles are featured throughout the collection.

The Chuck Taylor All Star high, low, and platform styles are customizable through the Converse By You experience, offering personalized laces, flags, stars, hearts, flames, trim, and tongue patches.

Converse x Liverpool FC Limited-Edition Collection

Converse and Liverpool FC continue their partnership with a second limited-edition capsule collection. Expanding the game for a new generation, the lifestyle capsule celebrates the creativity and diversity of the club’s supporters.

The collaboration releases with pieces featuring the Converse and LFC logos. Two standouts: Converse x LFC Chuck 70 high-top sneakers inspired by LFC’s iconic away colors, and a Converse x LFC premium unisex puffer jacket. The collection also includes Converse x LFC Star Player 76 sneakers and a Converse x LFC long-sleeve rugby top, T-shirt and tracksuit.

“Building on the success of the Converse x Liverpool FC partnership, we couldn’t be prouder to launch the Fall/Holiday ’23 collection and campaign, which celebrates the rich history of Liverpool FC whilst bringing to the forefront the creativity of LFC fandom,” says Steven Bramble, VP/GM for Converse Western Europe. “To feature LFC fans’ creative work in the campaign is the natural evolution of 'Creating From the Ground Up' and really does enable, celebrate and support creativity in all its forms.”

The Converse x Liverpool FC campaign, “Creating From the Ground Up,” shines a light on the club’s next generation of fans, who are championing its future, reflecting the city’s buzzing creative spirit and harnessing its devotion to football. The campaign features some of the players and fans who helped created it alongside Converse social and community impact partner Homotopia, a Liverpool-based organization serving LGBTQIA+ socially engaged artists and creatives.

Multidisciplinary creative Dredz, singer-songwriter Pixey and artist Sterling Rose Kelly appear in the campaign alongside FC players Darwin Núñez, Missy Bo Kearns and Taylor Hinds. Homotopia artists and Liverpool FC fans who worked on the creative of this campaign include Olivia Graham, Margie Houlston, Jess Scott, Sian Bennett, Kolade and DJ Lauren Lo Sung.

The creative process is emblematic of the Converse and Liverpool FC partnership, which celebrates creativity and diversity in the game and connects supporters who want to build a more inclusive, creative and diverse football community.
