guys... i have some good news

so i'm working with my local branch of the uk's Palestine solidarity campaign, and at the moment, our current goal is to get enough signatures to get the opportunity for someone to speak in a local council meeting to encourage my area to divest funding from companies complicit in the Palestinian genocide. the petition needs 1000 signatures, which felt like so much at first.

but i was given signature sheets to fill out, and guess what...

i got 30 signatures. THIRTY!! i spoke to 29 people (one of the signatures was me) to ask them to sign something to do a little thing to help end genocide, and twenty nine people DID do that!! people are good and kind and a lot of people are willing to help a good cause!

and they're not even willing, they're kind and enthusiastic too! when i was in my town asking for signatures, i met the loveliest people!! including:

a mother encouraged her young son to sign, and it was clear she'd taken the time to educate him on what was happening in Palestine (albeit in quite a simplified manner, he was a kid after all)

a Lebanese healthcare worker who told me i was brave for what i was doing and how heartbroken she is by what was happening - the NHS was so vocal in its support for Ukraine, but now with Palestine, the NHS are staying silent

plus many more i can't remember right now. but for every person who smiled and politely refused, there was another willing to sign.

and i got the petition 1/33 of the way there. that doesn't seem like much, but there's other people alongside me putting in the help and effort. none of us are alone in our fight to make the world a better place. we can all make a difference. if a Disabled minor who is pretty limited in terms of travelling like myself can do this, you can do something too. even if it's something as small as reblogging a gofundme for a Palestinian family, or helping a neighbour with a manual labour job to build community and help each other, you can do it.

and i believe in you <3 i'm rooting for you

EDIT: i don't know what to say... i'm floored by all the reblogs, this is by far my biggest post and i'm glad it is. please guys, don't stop taking decisive and practical steps to fighting facism and advocating for freedom of Indigenous people, not just Palestinians but all Indigenous people.

i can't claim to be an expert in advocacy - i'm very new to it! but you honestly don't have to be! going to a Palestine march in support, simply because Palestinian kids are getting bombed and that is wrong, is reason enough!!! please, if you are safely able, get out there and start protesting! and if you aren't, there is still so much you can do. so do what you can <3

Remember that hope itself is radical. Believing that one day the specific injustices we face will be nothing more than historical events. Just like how we live in a world without the divine right of kings we will one day live in a world without capitalism, just understanding that is itself a radical action. If spreading despair is praxis of the ruling class, spreading hope is praxis against the ruling class.

I feel like Hope is secretly worrying for Fade, on top of all things, since, despite everything, he's just a kid (and she did save him before). I think, if they looked back and he wasn't there, they'd turn back to see what happened.

Thank you for not going the route of making every character but Hope total jerks. I always hated trope.

If people can only make a character likeable just by making them a perpetual victim or by making everyone around them worse by comparison, then they're not very good at writing characters. I did worry she was going to be boring to people tho. - Cat
