this is like. one of my biggest issues. im not like a shipper, never rlly have been until yj but i dont like engage in discourse bc thats stupid.

But basically? Fanon lottienat just kinda strips anything thats interesting about the ship away. and makes it like. punk x preppy. loser x popular. ive even heard black cat and golden retriever which makes me want to rip my eyes out.

And its not even accurate to their characterization? at all? like youre flanderizing them but like..... not even their main traits. like ive seen people say "precrash lottie would be like charlotte from status update (curse that movie btw. the things i do for u courtney eaton) which is just. like not at all.

first off lottie is not popular. yeah, shes rich, but shes clearly somewhat of a loner (WHICH PARALLELS NAT?? WHICH MAKES IT MORE INTERESTING???) even courtney has said this in interviews. she feels ostracized, and a lot of it can be traced back to the flashback scenes we see, esp those about her relationship w her parents and her supposed mental illness. the 90s, especially the 90s in a high pressure rich family, was NOT a good place to have schizophrenia (and yeah theres the "she wasnt actually mentally ill" argument but that changes nothing because atp in the story her whole family and probably herself believed she was.

Then we have the nat characterization. The fanon "grumpy" to fanon lotties "sunshine". guys canonically nat smiles more than lottie. girlie was always grinning while lottie was experiencing the horrors all of s1. ofc they both went THROUGH it but that specific stereotype pissed me off sm i had to address it.

also, nat gets shown a lot as masc?? which is a fine headcanon but like for her style like the whole punk thing? she acc dresses relatively femininely.those are little irks abt nat but they bother me idc. too tired to write more on this rn but feel free to ask!

so basically taking this stuff into account - fanon lottienat uses a gross mischaracterization of both characters, especially lottie (also that suspiciously align w stereotypes HMMMMM) to literally make the ship more boring. You are making it a stupid and lame trope. You literally have these two insanely complex characters who mirror each other. Theyre not opposites attract, they are the same character in different skins. They're both loners, one because of her punk/rebel nature and nasty rumors, the other because of her mental illness and lack of closeness to people. Theyre both loners because of their social status and their fucked up home life. Theyre both providers - nat the hunter, bringer of physical and real food like the deer. Lottie the prophet, bringer of hope and, through the teams eyes, the birds, the bear, etc. Lottie who begs to be a martyr but is denied nat who runs from it but shoulders it anyways. They're both bleeding hearts they both give soul to the team and are some of the most genuine characters but they present it so differently.

The fact that the majority of content grossly mischaracterizes them and is the widely accepted fanon just.. sucks tbh. and the fact that people get so up in arms about them, and literally attack fans of other characters (lottielee fans... travis fans....) for no reason?? all these other characters do is contribute to what makes lottienat such a compelling and fucked up and interesting ship. i love them so much but lwk most of yall are insane and dont even appreciate them for what they really are.

My fiance and i just finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 all the way through. It was his first ever watch and it had been YEARS since i last sat down to watch it. Rly glad i own it on dvd. like ok i stand by being annoyed of and suspicious at people uncritically treating ochette as a child bc of the aggressive and obviously racist infantilization of the beastlings and also the beastlings as a concept. outside of some ppl commenting on a really old game announcement like "what do you mean the pasifika coded main character is an animal girl who is obsessed with food . why would you do this" the only actual ot2 fan ive seen criticizing the ochette racism is someone acting like temenos' chapter 5 came from temenos the character being racist

temenos isnt real, he is a fake guy. he is racist(im never letting go of the 'human language' banter. i will be mad about that until i die), and so is his story(kaldena...), and the beastlings' 'history' definitely makes things substantially Worse but im shaking you like a soda can please tell me you understand that ochette's story is Already Racist. it is already racist to infantilize them and make them the only characters who speak in a repetitive simplistic dialect and make the only speakers of the beastling language incomprehensible(dont even worry abt why none of the others speak beastling thats, uh, fine probably) and have Beastling Village Apartheid wherein the explicitly colonizer characters have like cute little sidequests and a redemption arc where they kinda chill out and are satisfied with Only half the village they colonized. it is already racist to make them Noble Savages who are so in touch with Nature that they're kemonomimi and they talk to their animal companions and they're obsessed with food, specifically meat. it's already racist to have them be Called beastlings and have the nameless village and beastling village be nameless when everyone else gets a real demonym! in fact despite me continuing to believe that the beastlings were reverse engineered from the concept of the hunter subjob making you a catgirl the writers wrote themselves into a situation where the hunter subjob is brownface!

so it's like. really bad that despite ochette being 20 she is characterized like a toddler. temenos is definitely the worst to her and is the source of the most open racism but despite me liking her castti is also super racist to ochette, she's just not as much of a dick about it. i kind of want to be generous to people who thought ochette was supposed to be a kid because that is how she's written but like... no, man, i don't think so. i dont think that joke about ochette being a child soldier is all that funny and i think you maybe should have thought for like two more seconds about why that would still be bad and ultimately an excuse to have the protagonist be infantilized. ochette should both be an adult and be treated like an adult and in larger terms the beastlings as a concept should've either been scrapped, massively reworked, or at the very least treated like actual people. i don't even want ot2 to have acknowledged the depth and prevalence of racism because ot2 is just not a game that's equipped to deal with the kind of systemic oppression it introduced with the beastlings, which i know because they fucked up so badly that they ended up just accepting the premise of racism and simply arguing that you shouldn't be so mean to biologically inferior races. this isn't something they should have put in the game if they weren't prepared to reckon with it.

there's no like conclusion here. i still like ochette(the version of her i made up in my brain thats essentially a completely different character, anyway) and idk what the most ethical thing to do in this situation would be. probably not making jokes about how baby and stupid she is, though.

they even attacked me for expressing my own opinion abt their idol ( i didnt even know that was their idol in the 1st place . )

i even made an apology post for B and K , apologizing for harassing them and i also forgive all the things they have done to me . and tell them to leave me alone .

but they didnt listen and they would say that i have to do a face and voice reveal in order to be forgiven ... i'll never do that .

bcuz of it , i abandoned my 2nd channel and changed my username completely .

im now on my 3rd channel ... they havent found me yet but i hope they wont be able to find it .

first of all all instances we have of zan interacting w ppl consist of her insulting them (i think her form of insulting is so funny btw.she fully acknowledges others skills but seems all competitive abt it at the end n most of her nicknames arent even related to her competitive sore loser-ness.she just hates ppl anyways.why is she like this.) so im p sure she has the social skills of moldy cardboard

susie:i think zan would find her.the most tolerable? i mostly picture the mages interacting w wave 3, n she finds taranza (keeps trying to relate to her n his overly open emotional bonding is making her uncomfortable) n magolor (have had beef since childhood w each other)(more on that up ahead!) to be extremely obnoxious while susie doesnt comment on anything regarding her or tries being annoying on purpose, but ultimately zan sees susie as just "okay" bc she much prefers talking to her sisters, susie on the other hand has some.kinda lesbian fueled fascination? w her? she thinks she seems cool but pitiful but mean but naive but insane, faraway observation kinda crush, most of her attempts to make any moves completely fail bc zan doesnt understand anything shes trying to get at, i imagine the longer this goes on the worse susie is doing, ironically the more desperate she gets to get zan to get a hint the more calm zan gets around her bc as far as shes seeing things susie likes talking to her lol

tl dr susie rly wants this to be some epic yuri, zan thinks theyre acquaintances n that susie just has a tendency to say weird things like shes expecting a reply sometimes.if this yuri was successful theyd be that one image like "hi me n my girlfriend saw you from the other side of the club! n we like fucking HATE your vibe."

magolor:theres this one nifty theory magolor spent some amount of time at the jamba cult in the past, its a theory i borrow from my bestie n its been a while since shes explained it fresh to me, so if anyones interested i can always waterboard it until she explains it to me again so i can share it lol.anyways maggie spent some time as some kinda fourth sibling to the mages, i think zan liked him back then, shes a natural at being an older sister figure n she cherishes hyness n her sisters a lot in canon (only ppl shes affectionate towards n shes v expressive abt it), so she treated magolor similarly, till he either escaped or got the boot from hyness (i personally picture he was just obnoxiously curious? over questioning is a big deal in religion.so rly either realized this was a cult or hyness got tired of him), whereas shed just.grow to absolutely despise him bc thats betrayal of faith n betrayal of them to her, hyness wouldnt be happy w magolor specially n zan would see his word as the holy law, magolor seems to dislike the mages as well in a couple tweets, so i feel he also grew to dislike them, so they just.hate each other now they met again lol.magolor thinks pissing her off on purpose is hilarious n zan rly rly RLY wants to maim him.but kirby said they need to be friends so wtv.

tl dr zan thinks hes a heretic false believer guilty of blasphemy n apostasy, magolor thinks shes an annoying blind suck up to a stupid cult religion

I adore some friends I've made in this fandom, but some of them are so deeply drunk on the Jizzy I can not *stand* talking about the show with them or Izzy anymore. It's either "Izzy is just a little guy he can't hurt anyone!" or "Izzy is gay he can't be femmephobic!" I'm so tired! He's the antagonist how is that controversial!? They see themselves as such victims too, the pointing of Izzy flaws is seen as an attack. Sigh.

i really dont get it. i've been in fandoms where the fanon content all comes from a deep misunderstanding of what the original text is supposed to be. but like, it was marvel. or voltron. or that transphobic wizard school series. something where fans were actually coming up with a better version of the source material

i came into this fandom not because i wanted content that fixed what i disliked abt the source material, but because i wanted more of the source material, and there was only so many times i could rewatch the ten episodes that we have. this show is fucking phenomenal and has brought me so much joy, and talking abt this show and chewing on good analyses of the show has been so much fucking fun.

it's just disheartening, i guess, that so many people fell down this gradual pipeline of liking the weird little gremlin antagonist to having their entire fandom experience revolve around a version of izzy that reflects fanon more than canon. it makes me fucking sad that there are people who genuinely believe he's the show's secret protagonist and that season one is full of undeniable references to his inevitable redemption arc but also he doesn't need to change anything to be redeemed because he's the skyler white of ofmd (???) and he's a victim of an abusive relationship but also he doesn't know he's in love with his captain who is so mean and unfair to him and doesn't even notice how izzy dedicates his whole life to him and–

like. these people don't even like the show anymore. they just like izzy. rather, they like the version of him they've made up in their heads. it makes me so fucking sad, bro.

we got a gay romcom, y'all. we got a show that revolves entirely around the romantic relationship between two middle-aged men. we got a diverse cast. we got polyamory. we got nonbinary rep. we got fat characters whose fatness was never made into a joke. we got a character with a lisp whose lisp was never commented on. we got so fucking much from this show.
