Find your wings au (or fyw au)- human au in which the rise boys are separated at birth, but find eachother through struggle and heartbreak. Now they’ll stick together. Always.

RAPH’S BACKSTORY

Raegan (Raph’s deadname) lore under the cut-

(lots of trigger warnings, but mostly for non-joking transphobia, abusive parents, bullying, physical abuse, parents beating child up, friendship betrayals. hope that’s everything. Please tell me if there’s anything else I need to put a trigger warning on, thank you :))

When Raegan was a kid, he always knew something was different. It wasn’t exactly an “I’m a boy, not a girl, and I know it” sort of thing, but he did know something. He always felt a presence of another identity in the back of his mind, but never really thought about it, or wanted to, for that matter. Whenever he tried to talk about this to his parents, though, they ended up hitting him. Raegan was physically abused by his parents even when he wasn’t talking about the fact that being a girl felt off. He grew up hating himself because of that difference and because he was “obviously bad enough of a kid to where his parents hit him to shut him up”. He never had a stable, good friendship, because while he had a lot of people he was friendly with at school, no one was close with him to the point he felt like sharing something so personal, especially since he’d been shut out in the past. Eventually, when he folded and told his pretty much only close enough “friend” that he felt different from a girl, and maybe he might be a guy? he’s never really thought about it before.. that friend told everyone she knew and bullied him. It came to a point where he didn’t feel safe at school or home and dreaded every waking second of being alive. Eventually word about him not feeling like a girl made its way to Raegan’s parents, and while the physical abuse before was few and far between and never hurt him enough to where he needed hospital care or anything like that, they were absolutely LIVID when they found out. They hit him and abused him until he had a concussion, deep bruises, and a bleeding nose, and locked him in his room until he pleaded with them to let him out. However, they refused to do that until he “admitted” he was confused about being a guy. From that day on, he had to tell them he was their daughter every night if he didn’t want to get beaten like that again. He resented them and grew tired and angry and felt caged. One day, after he told them he was their daughter, he just broke. It was nothing in particular that was different, but he was so tired and angry and had to let it out somehow, so he trashed his room and made a plan to run away. The next night, he stole all the food he could, grabbed as much cash as he could find, stole their keys, and left in the dead of night. He landed on the ground and stole their car and drove out of state to NYC. He arrived in the morning and wondered what the fuck he was doing for a few moments before thinking about the life he left behind and hoped that this might be better. After all, it’s a fresh start, right? He changed his name from Raegan to Raph and cut his hair himself. Even though it looked pretty shitty, he preferred anything over the hair he had before. After a few months of being homeless and unable to rent a flat or apartment out due to landing the shittiest job on earth (cashier) and the job not paying enough (relatable), he meets Leo as a customer in the store. The second they meet eyes something just clicks between them, like they know they were supposed to be in this timeline, in this exact spot and time, and the world lined up to show them that this was supposed to happen. It was a little awkward for a second before Leo puts all his groceries on the counter for Raph to ring up and he does, kind of dazed/awkwardly. After that, when Leo is just about to leave, he pauses and turns around and writes down his phone number on a slip of paper as fast as he can and throws it to Raph. Raph catches it and slips it in his pocket. After work, since it was 2002, payphones were still around back then, and Raph called him on a payphone. Conversation is a little awkward, but soon they slip into a rhythm. Eventually it gets late and Raph has to get back home, so they agree to meet up at a park and talk. They make plans like that several times a week for a couple months afterwards, and grow a strong bond.

Raegan is 6’1.

Raegan is 17 years old.

Raegan lives in Vermont.

This is set in 2002.

Raegan does not have any immediate family outside of his parents.

Raegan is transmasc (obviously. if you haven’t picked up on that I’m a little scared for you) and aroace! This differs from my usual headcanon of straight raph (PUT AWAY THE GODDAMN PITCHFORKS.) but idk. In this au, he’s just.. different. I dunno. That means no shipping him with anyone in this, sorry man. I was playing around with bisexual fyw raph? But decided I don’t like that. So he’s gonna be like me fr.

Raegan has BPD and PTSD.

extra Raegan without his clothes (don’t make this weird guys.) bc I don’t give a fuck, I spent WAY too long on his body only to realize that logically he’d be wearing baggy clothes because of body dysphoria and then him looking less buff/chubby than intended.
