Oh my brother, my brother, my brother
Who have you become in the wake of all that's happened here?
On Cerise and Ramona and being destined to kill your sibling.

I was thinking about Maul and got hit by the thought of imagine if he'd gotten captured back in Phantom Menace and Padmé had gotten to meet him.
Imagine if she'd seen him and realized somehow that he was only an apprentice, slave to his master, and pleaded the republic to keep him alive because she can't help but want to save everyone. And he knows who she is, he knows Palpatine is secretly manipulating her entire world and political career, and he can somewhat sympathize (though in his own twisted way that still believes this is for a greater purpose they should look forward to), so he lets her get closer, just to see what she does next. She would treat him less like a person and more like a feral animal she is trying to domesticate, but the positive reinforcement and patience would still be more kindness than he's received his entire life. So he kind of allows himself to be "tamed" by her. And that only makes her more motivated, she feels like she's succeeding in bringing this sith to the light side. And the longer he stays with her the more he distances himself from his sith upbringing and realizes how fucked up his life has been so far, so he starts to "return the favor" by kind of. steering her out of Palpatine's grasp. So he gradually gets "promoted" from pet sith to accidental older brother.
And of course Palpatine would want to kill Maul to prevent him from revealing his identity, so he can still get bisected and nearly die 🙃
For extra flavor, I think Padmé would kinda remind him of Kilindi, but like. because of their differences, rather than their similarities. Kilindi was a slave who killed for her freedom, Padmé sold her freedom and doesn't even realize it. Padmé is about the same age Kilindi was, and she is strangely nice to Maul just like Kilindi was, so he would probably be comparing them in his head all the time, judging Padmé for being so helpless and weak and nothing like Kilindi.
And yet, he killed Kilindi so easily, but can't kill this one.

is anyone else at least a little bit bothered by the timeline constructed by two very minor canon details that result in lily's letter to sirius about her and james hiding taking place, per date of marlene mckinnon's death, maybe two weeks after the whole order was together in one place, even the potters the longbottoms, who should be in hiding with their babies, harry and neville nowhere in sight??

tfw when you send your nemesis a hand-made 'get well' card after literally breaking his back (and not in the fun way).

You see the thing at the heart of Russian Roulette that makes it so clearly queer (even though that was probably Not the intention) is that they're giving up So Much for each other.
Like Yassen's perspective is well-documented and well-analyzed; Hunter pushes him, trying to find a breaking point, and he just gives. Gives his memories (the watch) and gives his humanity (everything), just continuously gives way until there's barely any of him left, because he wants to please Hunter.
But it's the same on John's side. We don't have his perspective so it's much harder to see his inner conflict but it is certainly there. For the mission of course he had to kill people, but he wasn't supposed to get attached. He wasn't supposed to try change anything within Scorpia, only collect intel. He clearly had moral qualms against teaching Yassen. And then he went and got attached, tried to get a trainee out, and did *gestures vaguely at Vosque* all that. Like yeah, it worked (short term) but it was still a gamble. He kept going past his own boundaries to pressure Yassen out of Scorpia and that's really not much different from Yassen's bottomless willing to bend to Hunter's demands.
That's the core of the story and the core of their relationship; John chipped off parts of himself for Yassen's sake too. It's reciprocal, the way they sacrifice their selves for each other. And that's love.

Do you ever think about how Arya being left-handed most likely had an impact on her needlework and other tasks? And how she needed special attention not only because she wasn't as naturally gifted as her sister but because the way she was being taught fundamentally didn't work for her? And how instead of being given the attention she needed she was instead held to an unfair standard by her teacher and used as a measure for bad behavior? And how this all impacted her self-esteem and her views on being a Lady?

As someone who watched last night’s episode, you had the right idea to stop.
Why’s it so bad
Because Tim Minear is a power-drunk hack.
#lincoln answers things#I was deeply concerned and upset at the end of season seven but wow the bar was on the floor and he still dug under it#back in earlier seasons he had good writers who could limit or make something good out of his crazier ideas#but it's clear that two things have gone to his head: 1. how popular the show is#2. FOX not allowing Buddie canon and probably also not letting him do other things he wanted (the network REALLY jerked them around)#2.5. going to LS and doing whatever the hell he wanted there and instead of learning from the bad response and shit ratings#letting the absolute power get to him and make the resentment towards FOX re: OG even worse#so when he hopped over to ABC he stopped listening to anyone and just went power-mad and abandoned any restraint he previously exhibited#and his talent and skill are actually not good enough to keep up with his ego (frankly nobody's is enough)#(but some people are skilled and talented enough that it can cover for quite a long time or cover most of it and Tim is not one of them)#every writer/artist/creator needs someone to tell them 'no' sometimes#everyone needs parameters and to be checked#you will sometimes have bad ideas or bad impulses that's just being human#and the moment you stop listening to people (like firing your editors *cough* Anne Rice *cough*) you're fucking doomed#some people are just doomed faster and harder than others and Tim was doomed immediately because again:#his skill and talent are not nearly enough to cover even a little bit he is a mediocre white man who fell upwards like so many of them#and now that he's let the power get to him we are all - and more importantly in my mind his EMPLOYEES are all -#suffering the consequences of that#hey Tim remember how you said repeatedly that you regretted killing off Shannon so soon and she wasn't even a main?#you think you would've recalled that before making the stupidest possible writing decision#it's been a while since I've seen someone kill their show in one (1) choice#congrats you stand among giants like Game of Thrones and HIMYM#anyway as silly as this might be I am honestly in very deep pain over this#I wasn't in a great place to start because of other shit going on but. yeah.#so I'm trying not to talk about it much which means if I ignore any tags asks comments etc that's why#but sometimes the rage takes over and I can't help myself so!

"Is this what you want to be?! A destructive toy to be used by others…—?"
(A semi-sequel to This Post in a sense I guess; @lieutenant-fred sorry more of your fella wasn't drawn I was strugglin to find much recent stuff to work off of so I hope this is alright </3)
[Writing below the cut]
“Why are you doing this? I haven’t even done anything to you—” Seedenal’s voice was almost pleading, yet had a sternness about it as xe gazed down at xir attacker.
“I have.. Orders..” the carrot hissed, bracing themself against the rock somewhat with a glare towards the pomegranate.
If they could even…call what was in front of it a pomegranate anymore. Seedenal had been a strange one to the augmented vegetable upon first glance: very tall, odd wing appendages, strange limbs, far more eyes than any normal fruit had on other limbs, among many other things—but now xe was even more of an anomaly.
In addition to the large pair of proper flight-worthy wings the angel dressed in green had unfurled, several more black, spindly arms had joined the original two, and their body now sported runes the carrot angel knew were not there previously.
On top of that, when Karl had attacked, several more eyes had opened upon the wings, and many of Seedenal’s scleras had turned black with glowing white pupils. One of the more frightening details was the luminous arm that formed, along with the sword seemingly held by it, from the place where the pomegranate’s previously missing arm had been. It was so bright it was hard to look at, and the energy it emitted was almost unbearable to be close to.
Several of the pomegranate angel’s eyes were dripping a black, ichor-like substance, but it didn’t appear to be from crying—rather, it dripped like sap. In fact, it seemed whatever holy power they wielded was barely being contained in the fruit’s body. Neither angel paid it too much mind in the moment, however.
“You aren’t even a lemon either, and yet you’re trying to murder me!” Seedenal knew very few details of the war that was going on in truth, but the carrot had mentioned lemons previously before they’d gotten into this tussle, so xe ran with it.
The carrot glared as it tried to pull together some sort of retaliation, attempting to stand with metallic clanks and whirrs while the other babbled.
“Is this what you want to be?!” the pomegranate’s voice lowered slightly after its initial shout, “A destructive toy to be used by others…—?”
Karl paused its attempt to rise from the ground, staring at Seedenal. The fruit couldn’t tell entirely if the vegetable was offended by their statement or simply caught off guard, but upon hearing no comment, xe continued.
“I.. I don’t know what I am, nor.. Where I came from or what is wrong with me, but I…know I was designed to be a weapon of sorts,” the angel fidgeted with some of xir hands. “I was designed for war—to hurt and kill and all that visceral junk, but…I don’t want to be that. I w-want to see the stars and play in snow and catch butterflies and pick flowers—! I want to think and do for myself..”
Seedenal didn’t like the thought of war. It was like a petty squabble, but more violent and deadly. Leaders throwing lives at each other just to see who was better, or who got what. So many of those lives didn’t deserve such fates—xe was sure of it, just from the small few they’d met or helped in passing. They almost wanted to end the war themself, but shoved the concept away—their mind is wandering again. Shaking their head and remaining thoughts away, the pomegranate looks back to the mechanized angel, lowering xir weapon.
“Wouldn’t you…also prefer to make your own choices and live a little, too..?”
"...."
A gentle breeze blows past the two brightly colored angels in the glistening snow. One must wonder if the mechanical superweapon dreams of chasing snowflakes instead, too.

broke: the Twilight vampires are way too overpowered
woke: the Twilight vampires are the way they are because if they had the ability to actually destroy themselves, there would've been no story at all. cause you know, there's like two characters who would've done that a long time ago

Hmm... WAIT, RED-
You're able to talk to some of the others on this device, yes? Like Green and Blue? What if you texted them and asked one to go through the portal and find the coordinates of said portal?? Then you could use a compass to find your way back!
(ooc: I'm sure they're VERY available rn-)
hmm well.... that's an...idea...
however, knowing my friends...
if i were to text green right now he'll probably would just say "well MAYBE you should have listened to me !!" or something like that
...which, okay !! fair enough !! but i dont wanna hear that right now !! ugh....
and blue ?? they just got back from minecraft, i highly doubt they'd go back for a rescue mission for me right now, besides....last i heard before they left they had a headache, so the trip probably took too much of a toll on them to come help me anyways...
besides, even if they could....i dont wanna leave without ruben...
we've been through too much, he's always been there and helped save me, so now i have to help save him

Im rusty on my dsmp, but my hot take is that of all the lore that never came to fruition, by far the worst thing we missed out on was that one stream where c!dream tries to get revenge on c!q only to fall into a trap, get captured, bargain his way out against c!sam, and end up with c!wilbur in that cave. Everything about it was IMMACULATE and I mourn our loss to this day.
strongly agree / agree / ambivalent / disagree / strongly disagree / don’t care whatsoever
SCRAPPED LORE I MOURN YOU EVERY DAY

just read action comics #1077 and while it wasn't actually as bad as the previous issues—i think what little we got of the world destroyer's backstory was interesting?—it's just so funny to me to call back to woman of tomorrow in these panels because tamaki's kara couldn't do half the shit that king's kara did in sg:wot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
action comics #1077
like not only is tamaki's kara ridiculously weak (remember when she was apparently almost killed by having a slab of concrete fall on her in the supergirl special? i do!), but being reminded of sg:wot in this issue just make me think about how totally incompetent tamaki's kara really is in comparison. especially in this story. she quite literally has not done a single thing successfully or completely on her own throughout this entire arc:
first of all, she's only even on this mission because clark told her to go. not because she decided to go herself, but because clark ordered her to. and she just. does. without pressing for more information.
then she goes to retrieve the prisoner for transport -> the prisoner isn't there
she has to get the prisoner's coordinates from the judge and take them with her to the prisoner's location -> the judge is kidnapped right in front of her along with the coordinates
she finds where the judge has been taken (only because the judge's robot assistant told her where she could find them) -> she gets the coordinates but the judge is killed in the process
she goes to where the prisoner is being held to retrieve them -> dozens of enemies arrive and immediately subdue and capture both her and the prisoner
she tries to use her powers to free herself from her restraints -> her heat vision doesn't work and her freeze breath completely freezes her in place, causing her to have to be saved by the robot assistant
she tries to find where the prisoner is located on the enemy ship -> the robot assistant has to lead her to the prisoner's location
she tries to find a way out while being pursued by all the enemies -> the robot assistant has to give her the idea to steal a ship while the prisoner subdues all the enemies attacking them (not kara ! because why would she be the one to do that !)
and even when she finally gets the prisoner onto the ship and into her care (something she's been trying to do for six issues) she can't even fully control or restrain her.
she literally can't do shit. and you're going to purposely compare your shitty take on kara to the kara that appears in woman of tomorrow ??? bold choice i guess.
