setting up a discord server sounds like a really bad idea but I would love to have a community and a place to promote and discuss other cool content creators...hhhh

if i think really really really hard rayman 1 is probably my #1 game of all time and zoo tycoon 2 has to be my #2 favourite game of all time it's gotta be.
animal crossing should be in my favs somewhere but new horizons kind of spoiled it for me so hmmmmmmm.
my fav games of all time are mostly nostalgia picks but they're so special to me bc they usually make up some part of my core identity. like i LOVE yoshi's island and it's objectively one of the best games ever made probably but despite being a huge yoshi nerd as a kid, it's ultimately left little impact on me. i spent a lot of time on webkinz but it's not "part of me". idk
rayman. unchangeable. introduced me to gaming and became my favourite game franchise. influenced my artwork and my aesthetic preferences, my music tastes. if i was a game, it would be rayman 1
zoo tycoon 2. probably unchangeable. the first video game i played for hours at a time, i loved animals as a kid and it opened the world to the concept of sim/tycoon/sandbox games. spent 2018-2020 playing that shit non-fucking stop 8 hours every single fucking day. i played it a lot in 2016 too i think and of course a lot during my childhood starting in 2006. tried getting into planet zoo but cannot shake zt2
beyond good & evil: contestable. very important to me, i met my friends through it and shit. it really really sucked me in and i still love the characters and hillys and whatever. obviously . i have the thyrus url. i think what ultimately got me into it was the lack of documentation and that just really scratches my brain good. i've written soooooo much shit and researched the game top to bottom billions of times i was sooooooo fucking into typing about it NOT PLACED, JUST THROWING THEM OUT THERE:
club penguin. not sure if this counts as a "real game". exploration in gender expression and shit, taught me how to type, introduced me to the internet properly. from there, i went onto neopets, webkinz, i got my own email account, photobucket, youtube, the rest is history. i like the game a lot too. pre-disney. early disney is not that bad. i don't like how flashy the 2013 (?) redesign is and it's hard to play private servers that do disney!penguin. i don't like the overly-round style. why do those birds have fucking teeth. why are they so skinny
animal crossing: holds a lot of nostalgic value playing it over the summer. a lot of big changes were happening the summer i really got into wild world, so i associate early summer mornings with opening my ds to play, and summer evenings with going to see kk slider, etc. i had mixed feelings on new leaf at the time bc it seemed "softer" and abandoned the appeal wild world had, but definitely had a pretty good time with it. i liked happy home designer. was very excited for new horizons but of course we know how shit that game would end up being. NH ended up being "just okay"/"bare minimum" after the big update NEARLY TWO YEARS AFTER RELEASE. the absolute dogshit quality of life that game has pisses me off and there are a lot of frustrating design choices that just absolutely baffle me (kk slider permanently fixed directly in front of the town hall door for 24 fucking hours straight in the fucking wind sleet and hail). the happy home designer DLC for NH wasn't that cool either, probably because it just wasn't a fresh idea anymore? like i've played this already. and a lot of the themes were the same thing over and over (cafes). i really hope the next game is better but i'm really cynical about the state of nintendo right now
splatoon: no specific entry bc its the same thing every time but i guess if i had to do one the first one hits the most. along with bge this is the only non-nostalgic game on the list. i really really love splatoon and the setting, when the game is fun, it's fun. splatoon 3 was not fun. the update cycle made the game uninteresting, the maps were bad. deep cut were annoyingly dry. i do not feel anything for any of these characters. NSS and OTH overstayed their welcome. side order was... fine? the gameplay is fun but it is NOT as replayable as nintendo insists it is and the story was awful. "it's a roguelike or whatever the fuck how do you have a story in that ๐Ÿคช" the way they have it set up there could've been SOMETHING but there ISN'T it's just a bunch of stupid ass filler text that doesn't contribute to the characters or anything. it's the same shit over and over. splat3 just lacks any personality compared to 2 and especially 1. i could write a post about how i feel about the tone shift if i haven't already. at this point is more about the idea and less about the actual games. turf war is fun in moderation but hm. idk
roller coaster tycoon 3: not sure why i'm so attached to this one considering i ultimately preferred zoo tycoon more. i think its the OST and the art style. i mean, art style definitely, the peeps' designs are a major influence on my style if i'm being honest. the gameplay is fine. i rank this one lower bc while i'm attached to it i can't give you a reason other than some surface level stuff. i do think it's better to play vanilla over zt2 which is actually quite ugly. i think rct3 has nice graphics. i probably don't feel as strong about rct3 BECAUSE i just preferred animals over amusement parks. i did like amusement parks though? as most kids do i'm sure. maybe if i got into modding like i did with zt2 i'd be more yaaayyy time to play rct3 but as it stands its something i open every once and a while and build a simple park in sandbox, save, and don't touch again for a long while.
