my mom (set designer) just got a call from a guy being like 'I'm working on an opera for the Municipal Theatre (huge theatre) and we want to do a big showstopping set for it, have you seen Les Miserables?'

#it was funny #she got out of the call and was like ok so explain it to me.#I explained the principle of the revolve and the smoke lights and shadows to her and she was like #DO YOU KNOW HOW EXPENSIVE IT WOULD BE TO MAKE A TURNTABLE IN THERE. WITH PEOPLE ON TOP.#'calm down mom I am getting to the workable parts. I'm just excited to explain the cooler part of the set'#'he said something about 'a barricade'?' 'yeah yeah so it's the city of Paris first and then it move like this [gestures with my hands]#it's made of pieces of wood and it's climbable you know and then it goes on the revolve and it spins around for certain scenes'#I showed her video of it #and she was like. but this is still way too expensive 🥺#I was still MOM I'M GETTING TO IT.#anyway I told her how the new version works and that this is probably within budget. But I wanted to explain the cooler version first. mom.
