A week with the avengers and you’re already bored. They haven’t let you go on missions or leave the building yet, so you’ve been relying on your friends’ class notes. All you’ve been doing is training, studying, playing video games, and attempting to prank Wanda. She was always one step ahead of you. Scaring you before you could jump out the corner to scare her, using her powers to flip the bucket of ice water and making you spill it all over yourself, and worst of all, predicting the punchline of your jokes before you could get to them.
You learned of her mind reading capabilities when you called her stupid in your head and she rid you of your blanket privileges. She was super sensitive to lame insults, you noticed. It was either that or shoving you against walls was just enjoyable to her.
The one time she was tolerable was during your occasional drinking nights with Peter, and sometimes Pietro. She was touchy, but not mean. Kind of. Last night was one of those nights, and Wanda had gotten the most wasted out of all of you, leading you to call it a night a little earlier.
You wake up to a gentle nudging on your cheek. Peaking an eye open, you break into a smile at the sight of your cat. “Hey, little buddy” You whisper to him, adjusting your position on the floor. He meows back, continuing to paw at you. Pain pierces through your head when you push yourself off the floor. You probably shouldn’t have drunk half your weight in vodka.
A groan comes from the bed in the corner of the room when the chair you were using to hold yourself up creaks loudly. Your eyes widen when you see Wanda gagging with her upper half leaning off the bed. Rushing to get the bin, you bolt towards her, placing the trash can under her before she could puke all over her floor. Wanda clutches the bin while you hold her hair back.
“Let it all out.” You attempt to comfort her while your own head’s spinning. She groans after emptying the contents of her stomach, rolling onto her back.
“I’m never drinking again.” Wanda groans while you laugh, taking the bin to the bathroom and dumping its contents into the toilet.
“Do we have training today?” You peek your head out of the bathroom while washing your hands.
“No practice on Saturdays.” She finally gets up, walking towards you.
You’re brushing your teeth as she looks in the mirror, fixing her hair. Spitting the toothpaste out, you ask, “Can I leave the building yet?”
She shrugs, making eye contact with you through the mirror, “You’re gonna have to ask Steve or Tony.”
You groan. Kate has been on your ass about your whereabouts the past 7 days, and you’re running out of excuses. Also, you missed her. The team is great, but you’ve only known them for a week. Plus, you’d rather not cross paths with Steve again. He’s lectured you more times than you could count.
Finishing up, you wash your face and leave Wanda to do her business. You bend down to take out a random black camisole and sweatpants out of your bag and place them on the desk, your back cracking as you straightened back up. Wanda refused to let you keep your clothes in her closet, so you had to make do until you got your own room.
You don’t really know where you stand with her, you haven't fully warmed up to each other yet. She still hasn’t let you sleep on the couch. Even drunk, she pushed you to the floor when she caught you falling asleep on her sacred sofa. You couldn’t be assed to argue at the time, but as you're twisting and turning your torso, attempting to rid the pain in your back, you wish you did.
Walking to the nightstand, you check the time on Wanda’s phone. She confiscated yours as a ‘security protocol’, but you think she just wanted to fuck with you. Ignoring the feeling of eyes on you, you sigh and lift your shirt over your head, groaning when you realize you left your clothes on the desk. When you turn, you find Wanda standing outside the bathroom. She looks you up and down, smirking at your blush as you walk to get your clothes.
“Uh, can you turn around?” You curl into yourself, attempting to cover up your body.
The brunette rolls her eyes, “This is my room, you can’t tell me what to do.”
Your blush deepens, “You can’t be serious.”
Wanda doesn’t move from her spot, shrugging. You groan and leave the room, closing the door behind you and taking off your pants. You’re mumbling curses under your breath when a gasp catches your attention. Peter and Natasha are standing at the end of the hallway. The former with his hand over his eyes, a deep blush covering his face. Natasha smirks as she drags Peter by his arm, walking past you and turning a corner. Sighing, you lean against the door, pulling up your pants when suddenly you’re falling forward.
Wanda looks down at you, flat on your face with your pants halfway up. “Fucking bit-”
You don’t even get to finish before you’re being lifted and pushed into a wall. “I dare you to finish that sentence.”
“Why are you always abusing me?” You pout, attempting to turn around and look at her when she pushes your face further into the wall.
“Apologize.” She grits out.
You’re about to retort when you remember you have to talk to Tony. Reluctantly, you mumble out an apology and Wanda turns you around to face her, smirking, “Good girl.”
She pulls your pants up, tapping your reddened cheek and walking back into her room.
What the fuck.
❅❅❅
“Come in!” You push past the door of Tony’s lab, taking in all the machines and holograms around the room. You hadn’t actually gotten a chance to get a good look at everything during your failed heist. “What’s up?” Tony turns to you, blowtorch in hand. Eyes widening, you slowly back up, “Uh, I just wanted to ask if I could leave the building-”
“Nope.”
“What! Why?”
“You’re not exactly the most trustworthy person.”
“Untrue! I saw Peter pick his nose once and I haven’t told anyone!”
“You literally just told me.”
“Please!”
You grab Tony’s shoulders, moving him back and forth and pleading, voice raising in pitch.
He groans, grabbing both your wrists, “Jesus, Fine!”
“Yes!”
“But you have to bring Wanda with you.”
Your face drops, “Peter can come with me.”
Tony shakes his head, “He wouldn’t be able to catch you if you ran, plus you’re all buddy-buddy with him.”
“Okay, fine, but on one condition,”
He raises an eyebrow.
“Can you get me an automatic cat food dispenser, or install one, or hire someone to feed my cat.”
He laughs, “Don’t let Steve find your cat, and sure.”
You internally celebrate, rushing out and back towards Wanda’s room. “Hey, Wanda-” Pushing open the door, you catch the witch sitting on the couch with you laptop on her lap. You grab your laptop and place it in your backpack before she could blink.
One hand on your hip, you stare at her, waiting for an explanation. After a beat of silence, you finally ask, “What were you doing on my laptop?”
Wanda’s eyes dart around the room, looking everywhere but you, mumbling something under her breath.
“What?”
“I wanted to play the game I saw you playing earlier.”
You tilt your head, eyebrows furrowing in confusion before she groans, “The one where you fight zombies and stuff.”
“Resident evil?”
“Not that one.”
“Call of duty?”
“No!”
“Left for dead?”
“No it was like, ugh I don’t know! Like, it had skeletons and I saw a pig.”
Your eyes light up in realization, “Minecraft?”
Wanda slaps her hands together, “That’s the one!”
You laugh, shaking your head and moving towards your bag to take out cat food. “I’ll let you play, if you come out with me tonight.”
Your cat approaches you when he hears the bag rustle, and you exit the room for a second to pour the food in his bowl. Wanda refused to let you keep the litter box and food bowl in her room, which was fair.
You walk back in, finding Wanda wide-eyed on the couch, “Like, on a date?”
Your eyebrows shoot up, “What? No! Tony said I could go out if you came as a babysitter.”
Wanda deflates, “Oh, sure yeah.”
You take your laptop out again, moving to take a seat next to Wanda. You’re explaining how the game works when you get an email from your roommate and best friend, Kate, jokingly asking if you’re gonna bail on the hangout. You quickly type out a reply, ‘im coming. bringing a friend,’ You pause for a moment before continuing, ‘best regards.’
Wanda’s lips tilt upwards at you considering her a friend despite her behavior towards you. “Why is she emailing you?” You raise an eyebrow, “You took my phone. Remember?” Her mouth forms an ‘O’ shape before reaching her hand behind the couch cushions, bringing your phone up and handing you it. You snatch your phone from her hand, rolling your eyes. “Asshole,” You stiffen, only relaxing when you realize Wanda hadn’t heard, “Uhm, okay, so you make these tools…”
Wanda was horrible. It took her an hour and a half to finally get used to the walking controls and crafting, kind of. “This is a stupid game.” She pouts as the respawn screen pops up for the millionth time. Glancing at the corner of the screen, you curse as you jump up. “We need to get ready. Can you call Peter and ask him if he’s busy?”
You change your clothes, not caring about Wanda seeing you. She had already seen you in your underwear so there was no point.
Wanda hums, makes no move to pick up her phone.
You roll your eyes when you catch her staring, “Can you stop being a creep and call Peter. Invite Pietro if you want.”
“Fine.”
❅❅❅
The silhouettes of your friends become clearer as you approach the location on your phone. Wanda’s bows furrow when she sees that it's an abandoned construction site, awkwardly parking the car. You and Peter rush out of the car, excitedly hugging your friends. Peter had invited Ned and MJ, while you had Kate Bishop. The twins weren’t as popular as the rest of the avengers, so you didn’t worry about your friends recognizing them. Wanda and Pietro stepped out of the vehicle and approached your group.
“Guys! This is Wanda, and this is her brother, Pietro.”
Exchanging pleasantries, you all start walking towards the building. Wanda turns towards you, “Why are we here? Is this just your normal hangout spot-” Her eyes widen when you shush her, placing a finger on her lips, “All will be revealed, little witch.”
You were all sitting in a circle inside the abandoned building, the flashlights of your phones illuminating the room. Ned and Kate sat on either side of you, with the twins, Peter and MJ sat across. “Silence!” You clap your hands together, continuing when everybody turns their attention towards you, “Rumor has it, this building was the site of satanic…occult? Cult? Whatever, you get me. Ritual!”
Wanda smiles in amusement, winking when you make eye contact.
Kate tilts her head at your blush, “Anyways! We will be contacting the spirits present here.”
Kate chimes in, lifting a bottle of water, “I brought holy water with me!”
You and her planned this thing together, and holy water was never mentioned. Taking the bottle from her, you pop open the cap and take a sip. Bishop laughs when you attempt to stop yourself from making a face, “Wow, okay. Glad you brought vodka to a fucking demon ritual.”
Ignoring you, Kate takes out a ouija board from her bag and places it in the middle of the circle. Wanda’s eyes light up as she turns towards her brother.
“Alright, everybody put your hands on the pointer thing.” You say while placing your hands first, everybody following after you. “Spirits, ghosts, beings, entities, and everything else, if you are here, move the…puck thing.” Kate is about to laugh when suddenly the pointer moves towards ‘yes’. Peter looks around, wide eyed, while Wanda and Pietro are oddly calm. “Uhm, okay uh. Jesus.” You wipe the sweat off your forehead, “Are you evil?” Everybody gasps as it circles around ‘yes’. Kate pushes on your shoulder, “Can we stop?” You roll your eyes, “No. Alright, what’s my name?” You all look in confusion when it moves to the wrong letters. You read them out,
“H-E-I-S-E-N-B-E-R-G? Heisenberg.”
Wanda, Pietro, and Kate all break out into laughter, removing their hands from the board while you and the rest look at each other in confusion until Kate explains the reference.
Kate gasps, “Weren’t we supposed to say goodbye before we took our hands off-” The phone lights flicker, and a banging sounds behind you. You screech, jumping into Kate’s arms, “What the fuck!” You tuck your head into her neck when the lights flicker again. Your friend wraps her arms around you in an iron grip, just as scared as you. You don’t catch the red mist dissipating off the board.
The banging stops, and the lights don’t flicker. You detach yourself from your friend, standing up. MJ slaps her hands on her thighs before getting up, “Let’s get the fuck out of here.” You all agree, turning to rush out of the building.
Every little sound was making you jump as you exited. Wanda sneaks up behind you,
“Boo-”
A blood curdling scream comes out of you as you turn, your hand clutching at your heart. Your glare does nothing to the witch. Wanda fakes a look of pity as she pulls you into a hug, “Aw, are you scared? I’ll protect you, baby.”
“You literally are the reason I’m scared!” You whine, lightly shoving her off of you. For the rest of the night, you were attached to at least one person from the group. Wanda was growing irritated watching you hang on to everyone's arm except hers, and everybody could tell. Kate was holding onto your hand when she caught a glimpse of Wanda, jealousy radiating off of her.
She gave her a knowing look, “My hands are getting sweaty, hold someone else’s hand.” She shakes you off of her, ignoring your whine and pushing you towards Wanda. You didn’t want to hold onto her since all she did until now was torment you, but everybody else already got a turn.
Wanda beams when you hold onto her arm, smiling when Kate shoots her a wink. She blushes when she feels you squeezing her bicep.
After getting burgers and circling the area for a while, you land back at Wanda’s car. MJ and Peter continue the path alone as Ned bids everyone a goodbye.
“Hey!” Kate approaches you, “You coming back? I know you have that thing with your grandma but I miss your company.”
Deflating a little, you shake your head, “Not for a while, I’m sorry.” She was your best friend, your laptop wallpaper was a picture of her, “I’ll tell you if I do, though.” You add.
She leans in to kiss your cheek, “Alright. Stop ignoring my texts, at least.”
Your eyes stay on her as she walks away, slightly frowning. Wanda wraps her arm around your shoulder, ushering you to the back seat. “I miss my life.” You sigh, leaning against the window as Pietro and Wanda enter the car. She looks at you from the rearview window, “You’ll get used to it.”
Pietro twists his body to turn towards you, “Who knows, maybe you’ll get to go back to your dorm in like a couple months.”
“Maybe.” You pick at your cuticles. A couple months. Here. You could do that.
Just a couple of months.

Hey, congrats on your diagnosis!
I have narcolepsy. Most useful tip I can give: Naps. Schedule your naps, or they will schedule themselves. I don't know if you've already been doing this, but it was THE life-changer for me back then just after I did my sleep study. It turned out that if I lay down for a half an hour or so, 1) I WILL fall asleep, and 2) I will actually be awake after that for a few hours. Nap before you leave the house, nap in your lunchtime, nap when you get back home, and you will be actually awake for the evening.
I don't take medicine, either, but I self-medicate with coffee on demand. Doesn't always work, and is still technically a stimulant, so...
Talking about lunch breaks: Try to do your very best to figure out what your rights are as a disabled person, because NOBODY is going to tell you. Like, apparently, I'd have the right for longer and more frequent breaks?? Well that would have been useful to know at some points in my past...! Also how grateful we were back when my school let me bring a camping bed and sleep in an empty room during lunchtime, and then it turned out that it was my legal right all along? Or when... You get the point.
Disclosing your disability is always such a personal decision. I personally have always had very good results with being as open about it as possible. Keep it simple, and give solutions. "I have a sleep disorder called narcolepsy, which may cause me to fall asleep during class. I need to take naps during lunchbreak, and will sometimes not be able to finish my homework." Or whatever your job equivalent of this is. I do understand how, depending on where you live, this might not be an option for you.
Don't stress about not being able to sleep through the night. It's normal. There is actually a very special kind of beauty about this time, you can just lie in bed and relax, or go online and do something for an hour or two. I usually switch periodically between these two. At the moment, my go-to is a game on my phone.
Try to have a schedule and stick to it as much as possible. Get up at roughly the same time, go to bed at roughly the same time, and have your lunch and afternoon naps at roughly the same time, too. You can always add more naps as needed.
People keep saying how good regular physical exercise is. I still struggle with this myself, so, no opinion.
The alarm clock on your phone is your best friend now. It's so nice, because smartphones have the option to add a whole list of times without deleting the previous ones.
I always find it helpful to be active in some way when I'm listening to something, like actively participating in class or doing embroidery while watching long YouTube videos. Keeps me awake and alert.
My cataplexy is less severe / barely present if I am well-rested. Must probably be the same for those who fall asleep while standing, walking or talking.
Depends on your life, but if possible: Don't stress when you fall asleep during an activity. You will continue it when you wake up. I know that you might be missing parts of a discussion or lecture, but if your entire energy is spent fighting sleep and brainfog, you will miss it anyway.
Self-harm won't keep you awake. Don't even THINK of trying it. It won't work, and is not an easy habit to break.
Figure out where and how you can sleep when in public. My latest trick is headphones + head slightly back in a park, or phone on the table + lean your head on your hands like you're looking at it when in a fast-food restaurant. Public transportation is also a pretty safe place when needed. If you are with a friend, they can just watch over you, that is easy.
You WILL fall asleep on public transportation. I somehow always wake up just before my stop, or at least almost. Do set an alarm when it is an important stop you need to get. And sit next to the window, when possible.
If you struggle with staying awake while reading a book on paper, try electronic. You don't need an e-reader for that, just read on your laptop or phone instead.
I don't know how useful this was, it did turn out to be a long and rambly dump of stuff I could randomly think about. Hope at least some of it is useful to you, but don't forget that, in the end, everyone will have their own list. You will figure out yours, too.
If you have any concrete questions, feel free to ask me! I don't promise that I will be able to help you, but I'll do my best.
Howdy, I was recently diagnosed (literally two days ago) with Idiopathic Hypersomnia that they're keeping a close eye on to see if it becomes narcolepsy.
I just wanted to reach out and ask for tips and tricks from people that have been diagnosed longer with either. No matter how small the tip is I really would appreciate it!
(also should mention I won't be on stimulants because my body can't handle them, previously tried for ADHD)

The wind was strong that morning. Only sound breaking the silence on this, unusually, still street, was the angirly roaring wind. They said that the big storm is coming tonight and mother nature is preparing us for that.
For Iris, London was always such a depressing city, she for sure didn't like it here, never knowing why. So many unhappy people, lost souls that are just trying to go back to the right path, afraid of a little bit of risking. She wanted an adventure. She wanted to travel the world. But she knew well-enough that that's not going to happen any time soon, so she had to deal with that, that's what her mother used to tell her.
But on this particular day, it was even sadder. Everything seemed to be in black and white, like other colors didn't exist. The sky was so gray and misty, it almost looked like it was about to cry, his tears representing drops of rain. She never liked rainy days, or even worse, storms. It always reminded her of her lonliness and how she didn't have anybody by her side. Her family was far away, all of her friends and people from hometown had probably already forgotten her, and she was nostalgic. She missed her home, the happiest and safest place on this planet.
She tried to light her cigarette, but the damn wind wouldn't let her do it, so she put her hand up to protect a little flame that was coming out of her lighter. After few more attempts, getting even more annoyed, maybe by the fact that she was already so late to her first lecture, or maybe by the fact that it was so cold outside and she had to walk to university, she finally succeeded and shoved her lighter back in the bag. She took a long drag before continuing her 20 minutes walk to university, cursing the fact that she still doesn't have a car or someone to drive her there.
After few minutes of walking the rain started. Great, that's exactly what she needed at that moment. She instantly hurried up and threw her jeans jacket on her head, to protect herself from wetting her hair.
When she arrived at the university, after what seemed like forever, she started fast walking towards her classroom. She could only imagine how she looked like, and in every way was negative. Her hair was probably a mess, so she quickly combed it with her hands, trying to make it seem less bad, and then wiping her a little bit smudged mascara, as she mentally prepared for judgemental looks when she walks in almost more than half an hour late.
She entered the lecture, murmirng a little 'sorry I'm late' under her breath, and quickly taking her seat in the first free chair that she saw. Some students whispered something looking at her, probably gossiping, and the teacher just sighed and continued talking.
After some time of trying to focus on the actual words that the proffesor was talking about, but failing miserably, and then giving up, the class has finally finished. She packed her things and quickly exited the classroom, rushing into the hall of uni.
The hall was crowded with students, some with their friends, talking, laughing, and some alone just walking or sitting and reading their books.
She stopped walking when she saw a big poster on noticeboard that had big "Queen" written on it. It said that they are perfoming at the local pub on Saturday night.
"You coming?", someone said behind her back, snapping her from her thoughts and scaring her. She turned around and saw a young man with big, curly, hair and beautiful smile looking at her, then at the poster. "Oh sorry, didn't mean to scare you", he said nervously, noticing her scared expression on face.
"Oh no, I just wasn't expecting anybody that's all", she smiled truthfully and he nodded. "And, uhm, I don't think I'll come. Don't wanna go alone.", she shrugged her shoulders.
"I think you should come, they are pretty good, you'll have fun", very familiar curly boy, that she thinks she shares a class with, told her smirking.
"I suppose that you've seen them play, when you say that like it is a fact?", she laughed.
"Well tehnically, yes", he nodded smiling, "I am in the band, a guitarisst", he said proudly and she raised her brow. "Oh yes, and I'm Brian by the way", he hold his hand to shake and she took it, still smiling.
"I am Iris, nice to meet you guitarisst", she smirked sarcastically.
"So you coming or not? I would love to see you there", she put her index finger on her chin, pretending like she's thinking about it and he laughed, "Oh come on, why not? You won't be alone, I'll be there"
"Well I don't know you, for all I know you could kill me there", she joked and he scoffed at that, "I'll see, but probably won't come"
"Okay, but have this incase you've changed your mind", he gave her a piece of paper, that probably had the address of the pub or his phone number, "Goodbye Iris", and then he left.
She stood there looking at him leaving, thinking about the offer he gave her.
It was the Saturday afternoon, she was cleaning her apartment from the mess she made over the week, when she accidentally found that piece of paper that that Brian guy gave her the other day. She had totally forgotten about it. It was this Saturday. She looked over her clock and it was 7:17pm, she had an hour to get ready. She bit her lower lip, thinking about it.
Was it good idea going there alone? But if she didn't go, she would probably regret that, always thinking about what-if.
Fuck it, she thought to herself, throwing her cleaning gloves, making her way to the bathroom.
She wanted an adventure, this is the closest thing to the adventure that she can get.
After 20 minutes of showering, she did her makeup and styled her hair the way she wanted it to be. The cab arrived and she started her way to the pub, feeling anxious.
She never liked going anywhere alone, even though she lived alone. The irony of that. She always wanted company in anything she was doing, even if it was just going to the market or just walking around town, and this lonliness was killing her. Not that she wanted to admit that, but deep down she knew that.
Her thoughts were interrupted when cab stopped, giving her money to the awfully quiet driver, and then turning towards the pub. Outside of the pub was suprisingly crowded, so she could just imagine what was inside. Surprised that this band was so popular, she entered the pub, scent of smoke and alcohol hitting her right in the face.
There were a lot of people, and she immediately regreted coming here alone, but she for sure didn't have intention on going back home. She sighed, making her way to the front place so she could have a better look at the band. She thought about Brian, if he would be happy that she came, but then quickly realised that he had probably forgot about her and that it was just a stupid thought.
Some people were talking, some people were already drunk, some people were making out, and some people were alone there, just like her. She felt a relief that she wasn't the only one, miserable. Lights went off and the crowd started yelling. First row were just girls, clothed in small pieces, big enough to cover the most vulgar parts of their bodies, and Iris rolled her eyes at them. They were groupies. There's nothing wrong with being a groupie, she just couldn't stand them. She looked at what she decided to wear and her body, feeling a little anxious. All of these girls were so much prettier then her. She was an average looking girl, with average body. And they were all like models, beautiful and smoking hot.
Her thoughts were interrupted by four young men filling in the stage. They had huge, wide, smiles on their faces as they were looking at the crowd infront of them. The crowd wasn't huge, but for a small band full of young students, it was more than enough. The lead singer, who she learned was named Freddie, had black fluffy hair, then there was Brian with his guitar, and two unknown guys. One with fluffy brown hair with his guitar, or bass, she couldn't tell, and then the blonde behind his drums. The blonde looked chaotic, he had angry look on his face, only one not smiling at the crowd. He just took his drumsticks in his hands, swirling them anxiously, waiting for Freddie to stop talking so they could start playing.
She knew that she was staring at him, but she just couldn't keep her eyes off of him. It's like he felt her deep gaze at him and he looked her right in the eyes, unfazed by it. She didn't know what had gotten into her, but she was confident enough that she didn't look away, and got even more confident when she noticed that he didn't look away either, sending him a flirty and playful wink. In response he just licked his lips, before the first song began and he focused on playing his drums.
The way he looked when he was playing his drums, with that chaotic blonde hair falling everywhere, with his button up shirt that was unbuttoned showing off his bare sweaty chest, turned her on. She bit her lip at the thought of him. Now and then, he would look for her in the crowd, and when his eyes finally found hers, he would send her a seductive smirk.
After several songs, the band, had finished their gig for tonight. Freddie thanked the small audience as they all clapped their hands, because truth to be told- they were wonderful. Probably the best show she had ever attended, they had the most breath taking energy. Everybody did their parts perfectly. Freddie's voice stood out the most, this band is going places.
She decided to sit down at the bar, who could know that dancing, singing and having this much fun could be so exhausting? She thought to herself. Or maybe she just got so used to boring life of just studying and doing nothing over the days that she forgot how it felt to loosen up sometimes.
It took her some time to try and avoid, now very drunk people, praying to get home safely, when she finally saw the bar. She looked over and saw a free chair. She sat at the high chair by the bar, looking through her purse for the pack of cigarettes, and when she finally found them she realized that she had forgotten her lighter. She sighed, with cigarette between her plump red lips as she continued trying to find a lighter, even though she knew that it wasn't there. She cursed under her breath.
"Here ya go", she heard a soft male voice next to her speak, making her jump from her seat a little bit. _Can people stop scaring her like that?_She thought to herself. She looked up and there he was, the drummer from the band, standing infront of her, grinning and before she had any chance to reply to him he had lit her cigarette, that was still between her lips, his big ocean blue eyes never living her deep green eyes. She just sat there, feeling her cheeks turning red, she blushed and that rarely ever happened, and seeing that made him smirk.
"Thank you", she said, shyly, trying to cover up the fact that she had just blushed at him, puffing the smoke from her cigar.
"No problem, love.", he said still smirking at her. It made her feel tingly, and she didn't like that feeling at all. The way he looked at her, practically undressing her with his eyes, picturing things he could do to her. The way his eyes focused on hers, then, as she puffed smoke, he would focus on her lips, but then, again, on her eyes. He still looked sweaty from his gig, hair sticking on his neck and forehead. That made him look even hotter, If that's possible.
Stop being so fucking horny and stop imaging things Iris.
"You don't look like a type of girl to be here, or to smoke too. ", firstly he pointed at the place they were in and then at cigarette in her hand, lighting his that was between his lips. She was taken aback by his statment, making a weird face in confusion.
She raised her eyebrow at him. "What's that suppoused to mean asshole?", she said with bitterness behind her words, not caring if the nickname she gave him would offend him in any way. And it didn't.
He chuckled. "Easy there, love. I was just saying. You're new here, I've never seen you before.", he said as he raised his hand so bartender could notice him. "Want something? It's on me", he winked and she rolled her eyes at him, shaking her head no in response, as he murmured 'why not'.
"I don't drink", she said taking his lighter of the table, without asking for it, and lighting a new one.
"See? Told ya you don't look like a type of girl to be here. You just proved me right. ", he smirked and she rolled her eyes, again. "But, I must say, you're a one hell of a smoker"
The more he talks, the more she regrets thinking about him in the way she was while he was performing. She found him really annoying and wanted him to leave.
"What can I say? We all have our addictions", she raised her eyebrows dramaticly and he laughed at this shaking his head and murming little 'I guess you're right', before she spoke again. "And by the way, what if I'm not new here and you just haven't noticed me before? I mean, you have a lot of fans here. Especially girls, I mean you couldn't possibbly notice every girl that enters this place, now could you?", she stated matter-of-factly, pointing at all the girls that were now looking at them, making angry faces at her for taking their 'man', and a little bit of sarcasm behind her words, but not too much.
"Oh, trust me, I would notice. ", the bantender interrupted his words as he gave him what he had ordered, this misterious drummer drinking whatever liqour in one shot, and then continuing, "Ugh, rough. ", he laughed, "Where was I, oh yes. Trust me I would notice a smoking hot girl like you anywhere. I have seen the way you looked at me while I was playing, and I would lie if I told you that that didn't turn me on just a little bit", his voice turned into whisper as he was now close to her ear, sending shivers down her spine. But of course, she wouldn't admit that and feed his, already, big ego.
She snorted at his cockiness, rolling her eyes, for the, probably, hundreth time tonight. "Don't even bother drummer boy, I know what you're doing. I know the guys like you, I have dated them. That's what devils look and sound like", he laughed at this biting his lower lip. That turned her on even more_._
"Oh really? So what am I doing, misterious girl? Hm? Tell me", he is still whispering, and that amused her a little too much. She didn't know where was her confidence coming from, but she liked this version of her, not afraid of saying wrong thing, being relaxed. Maybe it's the fact that this night, she felt so good after such a long time that she just didn't care. It was an adventure.
"You, mister drummer, are trying to get me to bed", she leaned in closer, tempting him as she knew exactly what was she doing to him. He just kept looking at her lips, not caring about her noticing that, as she bit her lower lip, in intention of seducing him even more. She succeeded in that as he quitely groaned at that act of hers. "And you were right. I'm not the type of girl who comes to places like this, as I'm not a type of girl who's just gonna be one of your groupies, so I advise you to just forget about it blondie and maybe find other girl to hit on and bore", she leaned back where she was before and he just snorted, now looking infront of him into unknown space.
"Tease. I like that", he admitted truthfully and she proudly smirked at herself for how amazing she was. Who would know that she had it in her? She was always an uptight person. "And could I get your name, love?"
"Does it matter? It's not like we're gonna meet again", she teased and that being said made him roll his eyes, playfully.
"Oh, darling, I think we will", he teased back and she giggled.
"And why's that?"
"Because", he leaned in, putting his hand on her thigh, making her have goosebumps all over her body, "I'm not that easy to get rid of. You're gonna see more of me, darling", he winked at her and just as she was about to come with the comeback, the yelling was heard and the drummer quickly moved his hand away from her tigh, that was travelling higher and higher, to her inner tighs, making her even more desperate. She silently groaned at the loss of touch.
"Oh here you are, you idiot! Roger, I've been looking for you for the past half an hour, you said you were just going to the bar quickly! Freddie is on the parking lot being hysterical as he always is and needs your help with the van and the instruments. You need to hurry up and leave that groupie alone. ", the curly, furious looking guy, that invited her here, named Brian spat at the blonde boy. His words hurted her a little, but she ignored his comment about her being a groupie as she annoyingly looked at him. Brian, realising who she was, looked guilty about his choice of words. "Oh hi there Iris, I didn't see that it was you. Uhm sorry for that nickname, I didn't mean it. I see the two of you have met already", Brian spoke just too quickly and she laughed at him, as he continued rambling, "I'm glad you made it here-"
"Oh so Iris?", Roger interrupted, earning a glare from Brian, but complety ignoring that, smirking as he had just found out her name, teasingly looking at her, already, annoyed facial expression, as he continued. "Nice name, very meaningful. Do you know that, that in Greek mythology, Iris was the goddes of rainbow, a messenger for Zeus and Hera, who rode the rainbow as a bridge from heaven to earth? Iris is actually considered a symbol of power and majesty, representing faith, wisdom and valor. Are you called after a goddess? ", he said, putting his index finger on his chin, pretending to be thinking about it, as he continued his philosophy, while she stood there, vividly, shocked and without any words, and that's a rare thing. This man is well educated, or just too good with his words, or maybe just lucky. "Or are you named after the flower? You know, they come in a lot of colours, and you remind me of some purple or blue just like your deep eyes that seem to hold in just too much sadness in them. Even though, in most of the cultures Iris means happiness and summer. "
Her eyes never left his as he had just put her in some sort of trance. She blushed at his words, and cursed at herself for letting herself blush just too easily, quickly trying to cover her cheeks, but failing. He already saw what he did to her and smirked, proudly, knowing he had won this conversation.
"What's wrong, love? Did I say something wrong?", he grinned at her, taking a drag of his cigarette and leaning back against his chair.
Brian just stood there, confused to what was happening, carefully watching Roger talking. He seemed to be, just as she was, in some kind of trance.
"You're full of shit, drummer boy", she laughed at this whole situation, as she tried to pretend that this actually haven't affected her, and he joined in her laughter. Brian still stood there confused and bored, as he didn't find this funny at all. He looked annoyed, but they didn't seem to care at all. "Do you say this to all the girls you pick up at one of your gigs, or should I feel special?", she raised her eyebrow, waiting, patiently, for his answer.
"Don't flatter yourself, love. I'm just good with my words. I've made your heart melt, didn't I?", he asked, but it wasn't a question, because he already knew the answer and he knew that she would never give it to him.
"If that would help you sleep at night then okay, blondie", she winked.
"You can call me Roger you know, not those ridiciolus nicknames you have." , he said and she nodded. He stood up starting to walk past het but for the second he stopped. "And I'm gonna call you Petal, that sounds cute. Right Petal?", he smirked at creative nickname he gave her.
"Why Petal? Most people call me by my name, or my usual nickname, Izzy", she said facing him with confused look on her face.
"Well that's a bit boring, don't you think? Mine is much more creative", he put his hand on his hip, letting her know how proud he is for making that up and she laughed.
"Yeah, okay. Whatever, blondie. ", she shrugged and he laughed.
"See you soon Petal", he just left and she watched him go until he disappeared behind the door that led to a parking lot, Brian disappearing with him as well.

Anything You Sing
A/N: Ok, so this was originally an ask from @shamelessbookaddict so credit goes to her. The ask: Bicth just imagining singing good ol bollywood songs to peter; him not understanding a word but loving it anyway; bruce just smirking at you when you sing something romantic
So I decided to shift the fic here instead of directly answering the ask. So if at all I make a master list, this would be helpful :D also, here is the audio of the song I used, if you want to sing along! The singer is male and I haven't changed the few lines in the song indicating the gender of the singer in the fic. I wanted to stay as true to the song as possible!
Pairing: Peter Parker x Indian!reader
Summary: You confess your love by singing a song
Warnings: the word 'fuck' twice? // Words: idk man, I didn't count
••••
Peter was having a bad day. A very, very bad day. School was hectic. He had lots of homework pending due to night patrol (totally his fault, actually. And he knew it. So he couldn't blame anyone else). His sleep schedule was an absolute mess because he would stay up when ever he got the chance to finish off his projects and models. His attention span in classes was now that of a fucking squirrel on crack and he had gone to the principal's office twice already.
Just when he had thought that things couldn't get worse, he had dozed off in yet another Biology lecture. Usually, the teacher would let him off the hook because he was a bright student and could easily catch up. So Peter tended to doze off for a few minutes trying to complete eight hours of sleep in five minutes. But today, it was a very important lecture going on and the Ms. Mason had strictly informed the class that everybody had to be attentive. Of course, Peter had to doze off. Unfortunately, he had been caught. Ms. Mason's disapproving glare was enough for him to believe that he had committed the ultimate betrayal. He was now very close to the Avengers' Tower, and he had already mentally hit himself a hundred times.
Peter just hoped that for the love of God and everything Holy, you was there. You were the only other Avenger who was his age. Of course, there was also Shuri, his homegirl, but currently, she was miles away in Wakanda. The three of you always shared a close bond and he could only hope that his bond with you would be much closer. He was a blushing mess when it came to you.
He entered the Tower heading directly for the elevator when he heard your voice.
"Pete! Hey, Spidey! Wait up!"
He turned around to see you bounding towards him. You threw your arms around him bringing him into a tight hug. You had missed him. He could understand that by the way you stood so close to him, able to listen to his heart beat rise. He hugged you back with the same enthusiasm as yours. Unable to hold back a sigh, he snuggled his face deeper into your neck.
You stepped back- not leaving his arms, he noticed, blushing wildly- and asked him with furrowed brows, "What happened, Pete?"
He smiled at you, grateful that he had someone like you who could understand him so easily. God, sometimes he just wanted to take you in his arms and cuddle forever.
"Nothing. It's just that school is turning quite hectic now-a-days."
You studied him for a moment, eyes taking in the dark circles under his eyes and the weary, tired smile he gave you. His brown eyes, usually sparkling with delight and excitement, now held exhaustion.
"Okay, that's it. You and I are going upstairs to the common room and you are going to sleep on the couch. I know you won't sleep in your room. You'll probably start doing your homework. And no arguments!" You shut him down before he could protest. Dragging him into the elevator you asked FRIDAY to take you to the common room.
"(Y/N)."
"Hmm?"
"(Y/N)!!!!!"
"What Peter?" You snapped at him. It had been half an hour since you had forcefully made him go to sleep on the couch and fifteen minutes since he had started whining about how he was not feeling sleepy.
He was sprawled on the big, grey couch, and in the short span of thirty minutes had somehow managed get tangled in the pillows and cushions placed. His head was dangling from the corner of the couch as lay on his stomach, left hand on the ground supporting his body. His right hand was somewhere in between a pillow and his head and one leg was on the couch's headrest. It was certainly a view for you. You sat at the opposite end of the couch, the book you had brought with you long forgotten.
"You know I can't sleep anywhere other than my bed unless there is music."
He didn't know how he got the confidence. He had been contemplating about asking you to sing to him while he sleeps but was too scared to see how you would react. Perhaps it was his sleepiness which made him bolder, the lack of sleep affecting his control over his speech. But it had not completely taken over him. He tried to fight the urge to just spew out his feelings for you.
"Music? What kind of music do you want to hear?"
"Anything you sing."
Now he really wanted to slap himself. He had really gone and done that. This was worse than spewing out his feelings for you. Now he was never going to get to cuddle you because he was too sleep deprived to think before he said anything and you were gonna slap him across the face and walk away-
"Peter stop panicking. Peter! Are you okay?"
You were stunned when he had asked you to sing. You weren't expecting him to be this forward. You had your suspicions on whether or not he liked you but you never acted upon your feelings and the innate desire to just ask him out in the fear of being rejected. There had been instances when you thought that maybe he reciprocated your feelings but then he would say something and you would immediately start questioning yourself. So you stood in the sidelines, trying to get closer to him so that you can understand him, only to fall more for him. Now, here he was, panicking and shaking, about to fall from that goddamn couch, pillows and all, and you didn't know whether he was just sleepy or actually liked you. So much for understanding him.
"Look, I- I, (Y/N)-"
"If you want me to sing, I can." You smiled through your stupidity and tried to stop from strangling yourself with a rope.
His eyes lit up as he groggily pushed himself up from the other end of the couch and slid towards you.
"Thanks, (Y/N). You are the best." He replied, placing his head on your lap. Consequences be damned, he was already getting detention tomorrow. Might as well do this.
You stilled, trying to form coherent thoughts. Stumbling through your words, you finally relaxed and placed your hand on his head.
Running your fingers through his hair, you decided on the first song that came to your mind.
"FRIDAY?"
"Yes, Ms. (L/N)?"
"If anyone passes by and asks you to translate the song I'm about to sing, don't do it, please."
"Of course, ma'am."
"Also, can you play the instrumental for the song when I start singing? Keep the volume at minimum."
"Okay, Ms. (L/N)."
Peter snuggled into your lap as you cleared your throat.
"Chookar mere mann ko, kiya tumne kya ishara"
"Is that Hindi? What does it mean?" Peter asked sleepily.
You smiled at him. "Sleep, Petey."
FRIDAY started playing the instrumental.
"Chookar mere mann ko, kiya tumne kya ishara"
What did you mean to do, when you touched my heart so?
"Badala ye mausam, lage pyara jag saara"
The seasons changed, and the world seems beautiful!
"Chookar, mere mann ko, kiya tumne kya ishara. Badala ye mausam, lage pyaara jag saara."
"Tu jo kahe jeevan bhar, tere liye mai gaaun"
If you say so, I'll sing for you for a lifetime.
"Tere liye mai gaaun"
I'll sing for you.
"Geet tere bolon pe, likhta chala jaaun"
I can keep on writing music from what you speak
"Likhta chala jaaun"
I can keep on writing...
"Mere geeton mei, tujhe dhoondhe jag saara"
In my songs, the world will search for you.
"Chookar mere mann ko, kiya tumne kya ishara. Badala ye mausam, lage pyaara jag saara."
You rocked him as you sang, his soft, content snores filling you with satisfaction. A smile made it's way on your face without you even realising it.
"Aaja tere aanchal ye, pyaar se mai bhar du"
Come, I'll fill your arms with love.
"Pyaar se mai bhar du"
I'll fill it with love.
"Khushiyan jahabhar ki, tujhko nazar kar du"
I'll gift you all the happiness in the world
"Tujhko nazar kar du"
I will gift you..
"Tu hi mera jeevan, tu hi jeene ka sahaara"
You are my life, you are my reason to live.
"Chookar mere mann ko kiya tumne kya ishara. Badala ye mausam, lage pyaara jag saara."
"Chookar mere mann ko kiya tumne kya ishara."
Closing your eyes, you smiled. Oh the things you would do to stop time at this very moment. You wanted to live in this moment forever.
"That was amazing."
You shrieked, not expecting anyone to be around. You turned, trying to see how many people heard you, groaning when you see almost all the Avengers.
"Why didn't you guys say anything?!" You whisper, trying not to disturb Peter who was sound asleep on your lap.
"Well, you were amazing. And we wouldn't want to awake Pete, now would we?" Tony answered.
"Okay, fair enough."
"What does that mean?"
You blanched. You had hoped this won't come up. You looked at Steve who had asked the question, face filled with confusion just like the rest of them. Of course, they were asking about the song's meaning. Something you'd rather eat shit than having to tell them.
"Nothing. It meant nothing. It's just a song I like." You lied, your tone firm with finality.
"Okay, if you won't answer, I'll ask FRIDAY. Hey, FRIDAY, what did the song that (Y/N) sang mean?"
You swore to God you had never felt so proud of yourself in that moment.
"Sorry, boss. But Ms. (L/N) has asked me to not translate it to anyone."
"What?! I'm the boss here, FRIDAY. Come on. You can't say no to me."
"Sorry, boss. Ms. (L/N) requested to not translate it to anyone. And you fall under that category."
Bucky snorted at Tony's appalled gasp. Nat was trying so hard not to laugh. Sam did not even bother to hide his laughter. Your smile widened, before it dropped. Bruce. Bruce was smiling directly at you. Fuck. He knew. Obviously, he knew. You begged for mercy, mouthing how grateful you will be if he could just shut his mouth and not tell anyone. He snorted before obliging. But you could see his gears turn. And you thought Bruce was the person who did not meddle in people's matters at all. You shook your head. You could talk to him later.
"Hey, doesn't Bruce know Hindi?"
"No!"

Distractions
Exhausted, she wakes up. She stayed up late at night. Not studying, not cleaning her room, just on her phone. But she tried. She thought she would study all night, clean up her room, make a schedule, but everything seemed exhausting and boring. She's going to be late for the class, so she doesn't think that today is just like every other day. She would think that she needs a change in life when she's not getting late for an 8 am.
When she's back after the lecture, she needs a break. Now it's time to decide how she'll spend the day. Finish laundry while tidying the room, make food, make a study schedule.
Enough, she says, time for a change. But first, she needs to get distracted by her phone. Just like we all do, nothing and everything. Time flies and she almost falls asleep. It's afternoon, half the day is over. Before she starts telling herself how lazy she is, it's time to get up and do something. The room is tidied soon. Books and laptop is well placed on the table, ready to be studied. But as she sits down, she gets distracted by all the stress she has right now.
First, it's the studies. How much she is lagging behind with an enormous backlog, She can make a schedule for the 6th time this month and in theory, finish it all up in a week. But that's not how that works, a theoretical schedule never works. It's demotivating, and she doesn't want to start making a new one. The mind shifts to how exhausted she is. All she does is study, and yet the work piles up. How is everyone surviving this? Am I the only stupid one?
Keeping up with all that, then there are the wonders of being an adult. Shopping, cleaning, cooking. Looking for a better job that actually pays a livable wage. Then there are problems with the family. She hasn't talked to them in a while, and the more time passes the more they complain when she finally calls. She should call them now, mom must be free now. But that would take 30 minutes away, or more. Maybe tomorrow.
How are days passing by and she is not doing anything, and yet she has time for nothing? She looks at the laptop and opens up the document that she should have memorized by now. I can't study like this, probably should cook something first, she thinks.
It's already 6. Soon it would be 7, then 8. And then 10. She wanted to sleep early so she can finally wake up timely and study more efficiently. There won't be any time left for studying if she cooks now, but she has to. Let's get that over with first.
As she cuts the vegetables, she's thinking of all the other stuff she had forgotten to think about before. How she hasn't talked to her friends in a while. How she misses going out, meeting family, laughing with her sister. How she still needs to talk to the bank about her lost card. How she hasn't replied to emails from last week.
All she needs is a break, she tells herself. Just a small break to catch up on everything. Or maybe magically fix her sleep. Something, anything. Today won't be another day of crying, she sniffs to stop herself. Maybe music can help. Something quick as she cuts the vegetables. She opens the app, and clicks on her liked songs. Nothing new, she wants to listen to something she knows and likes. She found it - her song. The song.
As the song plays, the upbeat and melodies seem to fog away her distractions. Distractions from stress, at least. As lyrics come by, she starts to hum, first in her mind, then on her lips.
This is a good song. She loves it, she has listened to it many times. For now, this is all on her mind. Nothing else matters, not the pending schedules, not the waiting messages, or adult responsibilities. This is her, being with herself, chopping down the veggies as she hums her song.
This is her moment, and everything else can wait.
