It's so fucking funny to me how often I see someone hate a fictional character so much, they imagine an alternative version of whatever media they're consuming that involves said character, and convince themselves that it is canon.

Usually this is either because:

we're talking about a video game with multiple endings or paths and they insist on ignoring the fact they can go thru the game without actually engaging with the part they hate so much

we're talking about a linear game or a show/book where there aren't choices, but the actual interactions with the character they hate is entirely up to interpretation, meaning they absolutely can interpret it the way they claim would be better, but then they couldn't be mad at the source material

Making up a guy to get mad at is eternal.

#two examples from media I love are:#zenos ffxiv #“I just wish we they gave us an option to disagree with him!”#you mean two out of three? the two out of three dialogue options where you basically tell him to go fuck himself #but because neither of them is literally “go fuck yourself” you insist they're just the same as the last option #IDW1 Megatron #“oh they just redeemed him!”#except the part where he's not redeemed #he couldn't open the matrix everyone lied because they cared about him but he himself admits he cannot be redeemed #he literally is sentenced to either death or literal hell neither of which looks like escaping justice to me but go off i guess #actually i have another example lmfao god this pisses me off so much #apex legends fandom insisting either fusehound is bad because it makes houd a cute uwu girl somehow yes that's literally a take someone had #or that there's more canonical basis for ships that have like three voice lines in game simply cus their VAs joked about it one time #I get hating actual canon cus goddamn I sure do sometimes #but like make sure it's the actual canon and not a bad fanfic you made up in your head
