finished rooney’s intermezzo this morning. WOW. i adore the way she wrote it (i said what i said) idc if it’s controversial. the experimental prose, short sentence, lack of punctuation marks appeals to the brainrot part of my brain that reads and consumes in this hungry, relentless way. i have always been a rather insatiable, quick reader but i devoured this novel like i had been starving before. pages consumed with bad table manners— chewing with my mouth open, licking my fingers afterwards.

and oh my god the people in this piece. as the certified little sister (acknowledge your privilege, little girl!) i felt so much reading this. the strange disappointment that goes unsaid. the strange love that goes unsaid. knowing your siblings did the best they could when ur parents inevitably grow tired of being a parent and perhaps marriage breaks down or someone simply checks out (parenting is hard) so your siblings (who probably resent you a bit in theory for being little) in all their three/ten/thirteen (true story) years more on this earth take to protecting you. that felt rather self-insert oops. knowing said effort and love and care does not mean they are unflawed (yes, i’m talking about peter telling ivan he had the pup sorted when he did not in fact have the pup sorted and so it fell into ivan’s lap thank god and he handled it out without any acknowledgment or thanks because peter was ‘handling’ it and so he did (it was SO much more than a dog)). i’m also talking about the weird entitlement they feel over you. your achievements are indirectly theirs, too, because without them you would have never picked up chess or gotten good at something. and the strange guilt they feel for abandoning their little sibling in the house they have a new reprieve from. and i pity those who don’t get to experience the sibling dynamic; those who don’t know what it’s like. there’s so much there.

also can we talk about the women in this book? i love margaret and i love annie and i love sylvia and i love naomi and i adore them all together though i will admit that there were times i grew incredibly frustrated to the point my cheeks got hot because they really need to simply stand up sometimes. like STAND UP! but that’s to be expected. also it did take me a while to get used to them being perceived by men; their limits assumed, their softness assumed, their vulnerability assumed (which is flawlessly executed by sally, oh my goodness). i love the unconventionality imposed by naomi and sylvia loving one man. i love how much peter loves women. everytime i felt emotionally about an event in the book (i had to walk away when peter hadn’t exactly told his girlfriends what was going on and he was cheating on them (call a shovel a shovel) until it was like overtly acknowledged and established by them all that it was a poly situation happening but this also rubbed me the wrong way a bit because why does peter need to have his sexual desires met (i’m talking about being bossy with naomi and sweet with sylvia) and his emotional or domestic desires met simultaneously like this man really got the best of both worlds and this made me upset cause he’s literally a man but i think this is my own issues. to circle back to my point— i would have these big feelings about what should be happening and then something would occur and i would see more of what was really going on and it suddenly mattered less that peter was getting the best of both worlds because sylvia and naomi understood perfectly well what was going on. idk i guess what i mean is i felt this initial impulse to feel a certain way which was soon corrected by me experiencing the narrative, peeling back that layer and that’s a lot like life i guess. that is what sally is so good at doing. writing something that is so much like life.

and the way sally structurally screams ‘art is just a pastiche of everything an artist loves’ or whatever they say (let’s sort it out on the remix) by putting the direct excerpts she stole (endearingly) at the end— bits and pieces even the smartest kid couldn’t pick apart with absolute certainty without some sort of external help. the fact these external pieces blend so seamlessly just proves her point. and i want to mention the length. the stream of consciousness. the hypocrisy. emphasis on catholic guilt. there is so much packed into this little novel. it is so much more than a silly little read though even if that is the idea you walk away with then you’re also so right?

anyways these are my initial silly thoughts, there are lots more but this is a long ass post. pls talk to me about it. i can’t wait to check the tag without fearing i am spoiling anything 🍽️

I know you dont talk much about ships or romantic relationships, but about utmv is there a ships or ships that you like? If yes, which ones?

I’ve recently found myself in a period where I don’t care much for romance (or at least, i don’t like when romance or sex is prioritized), but there are a few ships i enjoy or im chill with even if i myself don’t ship them or seek them out.

The most obvious one is Colorkiller, of course. I do love to explore every interpretation and dynamic with them, but I love when they aren’t like, “friends to lovers” but instead friends and lovers.

And I do believe these two could potentially be portrayed as just about anything, and they’re definitely a little fruity even if it’s genuinely platonic—given how it’s kinda implied that killer likes to tease and flirt with color, and other things that color wants to be done only in certain environments and places. (The “omg not here” drawing.)

There’s not much other ship content with Color, but I feel id enjoy exploring or seeing it just about any kind. Such as with Delta, in a poly relationship with Delta and Killer, in a poly with the MTT, etc. maybe I’d even be interested in seeing some type of depiction of colormare or even a poly between color, killer, and nightmare if it’s interesting and compelling.

I’m neutral or apathetic on most other Killer ships, except for a few interpretations of ships that can get annoying. I don’t really ship Killer with most characters, but I can try to get behind a certain interpretation. I’d like to see more HorrorKiller content, if only because there’s so little of it.

The only one’s im ever iffy with shipping him with the apple twins, and sorta with swap—swap because killer has hurt him pretty bad in his own dubiously canon, and I feel that the trauma Killer caused both Swap and Dream should be meaningfully addressed before a relationship even begins.

Swap and Dream don’t deserve to live in fear that their partner would hurt them again. (Or if you’re intending to go with a toxic or abusive dynamic, then to depict it with care.)

I’ve heard of the idea of i think Insomnia? Error x Ink x Dream? Where, for Ink, it’s a QPR—he does not have romantic feelings for either Dream or Error, even if they do have them for him and eachother, and everyone knows and is aware of this and it’s chill. I’m not hugely invested in it, but the idea seemed interesting.

I find Drink, Dreamberry, Stars poly, and Cream a little cute on the surface; but i haven’t really seen much content with these ships or how they’re commonly portrayed to have big feelings or opinions about them.

I think Crepic is cute, and that one ship between them and Killer (especially if colors there too), cute. I’m not a big fan of romantic kross, certainly prefer signanothername’s interpretation of them, but it’s chill.

I find that one potential post talking about killer with fell also very interesting.

And i guess that’s maybe it? I don’t really ship too much. I much prefer either found family, genuine rivals or enemies (no to lovers), platonic friendships and qprs, or even fwbs is interesting, or other things of those nature.

Oh! Also, I feel like Killer’s crush on Toriel as Sans has potential. Even if it was only a crush and they weren’t ever officially together, when and how and why did sans grow a crush on her, and how did it feel when not even her or his own brother could keep sans hoping that things would change or that they could be saved. Did Toriel offer some sort of comfort or solace when he was losing his mind? What was it like to kill her for the first time? Was that the first time he ever actually saw her face, no door between them?

I’m impressed. You even asked about my two novels I’m working on. I’ll do it in order of your list.

An Angel’s Unexpected Companion.

This ideas was inspired by a few different fics. I know one was Hunters Throne by LadyKnightSkye. I love their work! Anyway, it’s about a woman who is a Nephilim (or was it an Elioud?) and prophesied to ending the war between Heaven, Purgstory, and Hell. The way this happens is she becomes an “Angel’s Companion” which is a human that is bonded to an angel (voluntarily) to increase their power and abilities. In this case, they are a second companion to an angel which is so rare. It’s a Cas/Dean with Dean as the first human companion. The woman actually being a Nephilim means they provide more power and a stronger bond. The whole thing is slowly brought to the attention of the archangels and Chuck himself (good dad) that eventually he does recognize her and knows that this is his grandchild. He already knew for he is God.

That’s as far as I got with the story. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it. It’s a lot of background to keep up with.

Sam Wesson x Gabriel

This is a request for me to retell 4x17 It’s a Terrible Life from Sam Wesson’s perspective with an interfering Gabriel. This does eventually lead to Sabriel.

Falling in love with Angel

This is an urban fantasy romance novel I am working on where a devout psychic woman runs into a fallen angel who has lost faith in God and his mission. Through her he learns that there are many paths to God and they fall in love in the process. It wasn’t supposed to be a religious story but it sort of became that way with my thinking.

I want to get this one published.

Tell Me No Lies

It’s an AU-Canon Divergence fic where the OFC, Ember, is hit with a spell that prevents her from telling a lie. She’s a hunter who reveals she a witch and eventually leads to complications of the heart. This story leads to a triad relationship.

The reason there are two versions is because I tried a different way. The Nightingale Witch version is she’s a special witch where she sings her magic through song—any song because singing evokes and enhances magic from her soul. She’s still get hits with the truth telling spell but the story goes different when it comes to complications of the heart. This story is more of a polycule relationship.

I still haven’t decided which way I wanna go.

Two Men and a Virgin

This a Destiel x Virgin!F!Reader fic. The Reader is a hopeless romantic and wants to save herself for love. She’s just never fallen in love; however, she has moved in next to Cas and Dean, married husband that have become best friends. She, of course, has fallen in love with them and has tried to get over it without success. The Reader has made assumptions that they’re a gay married couple when in fact they’re a pansexual couple and find this out (after five years of knowing them) one drunken night where they all kind of end up making out that leads to sex. It’s indulgent.

There are few real poly fics in the Supernatural fandom and I love Destiel, so yeah.

The Virus

This is an urban fantasy/scifi novel I am trying to write. It’s the omegaverse or a/b/o trope from the very beginning in how it came to be and follows it through humanity witnessing changes into packs and relationship dynamics and the change of laws.

Now, in terms of dynamic? They know each other, they've interacted a bunch and are friendly with each other, but I don't believe they're ... Close per say.

Don't get me wrong, I believe they'd be considered acquaintances, 'friends' at best. But they also don't interact with each other enough to be considered genuine friends. Mainly because Dawn avoids the med bay and any medical professionals or places, not because he has a problem with the people, but because he hasn't had positive experiences with medical settings in the past. And since he completely avoids the med bay and claims he's fine even when he is very obviously seriously injured, he is one of Jack's most difficult patients.

How they would interact? Mhhh, I think they'd get along outside of anything medical related. They're both laid back generally and "quiet" I guess, though Dawn is much more quiet. Jack talks a bunch when he gets comfortable or when someone gets him going, quiet any other time. The two have SOME things in common, enough to find common ground for conversation. They both get annoyed with people easily, both can cook, both hate florescent lights (for very different reasons), etc etc.

So it's more of a "You're a pain in my ass, but I deal with you" dynamic, they've had their intimate moments cause poly shadow company is very real in my mind, but nothing romantic (Jack is aro, doesn't really feel romantic attraction to anyone but enjoys the attention). They're generally peaceful with each other, enjoying the silence and calm presence of one another when they're left alone, sometimes starting up conversation about whatever they can think of.

Jack pokes and prods at Dawn when the moment calls for it, like if he's blatantly avoiding him because his check-up's soon or if he did something stupid earlier that day. Jack cares deeply for all of the shadows and their safety, and he doesn't exclude Dawn. Checks up on everyone and him after every mission, and Dawn does the same but in more subtle ways. Doing physical acts of helping other people silently to check up on them or just sneaking a few glances at Jack after a long mission just to see if he's alright.

And I mean, Dawn could possibly have a thing for him in the future (?) unrequited love or something like that. But it also takes Dawn a long while to get to know people and develop any sort of feelings for them because of the walls he puts up, and they haven't really known each other for very long since technically Jack just recently joined SC. So I'll just put a big fat MAYBE on that for now HSGHF, but I will give you that they HAVE been intimate before, just not really romantically as I said before jshdh

Jack also appreciates Dawn because he never touches the lights in his office or messes with his stuff

- To simplify it, they're friendly with each other when they need to be. Not out-right friends, but close acquaintances. They have brief but nice interactions when they do interact.

Also, feel free to have them interact however you feel they should. I haven't spent too much time dwelling on how exactly their dynamic and relationship works, so this is subject to change. I also like seeing other people's takes on them !!

I tend to make my characters boring with their interactions, especially Dawn. I promise I don't mean to, his boringness is a trauma response 😭

I’m not going to lie, I don’t think about Poe very much, (Constantly thinking about Ranpo though), but I do think their dynamic is really fun.

Their one sided rivalry is so funny because Ranpo is the only character in the entire series who is willing to admit someone is his friend without any tragedy pushing him into it, but Poe makes up for it by being comedically in denial about how much he likes Ranpo. And there’s not even any actual malice between them (except for like ten minutes where Poe trapped Ranpo in that murder mystery but they got over that really quickly), they just enjoy eachother’s company.

I also love that Ranpo’s go-to strategy is to just use Poe’s ability. If it works it works I guess.

I’ve heard people talk about how awkward the aftermath of Poe getting Yosano killed in the book must have been. And like yeah. I what his relationship with Yosano is like now. I kind of feel like she wouldn’t hold a grudge given the context though. (Also I’m pretty sure she might be Ranpo’s best friend. So I wonder if Ranpo was pissed at all or if he just let it slide due to the fact she didn’t actually die. Because neither him nor Yosano seem upset by it. I mean I’m sure it was a very upsetting situation but I feel Ike neither of them are the type of people who would allow that sort of thing to noticeably upset them in the long run. (Might have even been cathartic??) plenty of opportunity for very awkward conversations there though.)

As a ship? Funnily enough I do ship it. (Honestly it’s hard to see Poe’s feeling for Ranpo as anything but a crush) But like in a “oh there’s Ranpo’s supportive rich boyfriend. Good for them.” sort of way. They are like a parody of an enemies/rivals to lovers ship, and I adore that, but I don’t think about the ship all that often. (I also really enjoy throwing Mushitaro into their dynamic. It’s a good poly ship or third wheel situation or normal trio. Also just a really fun dynamic. Like, Ranpo and Mushitaro quickly became begrudging friends (on Mushitaro’s part. Willing friends on Ranpo’s part.) and then he was entrusted with Poe, and there’s that chapter where Poe tries to help him through his grief with writing and think that was a very sweet scene.)

(Ranpoe reminds me of Atsulucy a bit actually. Person who “hated” them from the guild who is now their number one fan and a very important ally who’s dimension-creating power is currently a great asset to the ADA. My main ships for the characters involved, but I never talk about them. Used for comedic relief. Though Atsulucy feels much more emotionally complex in the narrative of the manga than RanPoe is.)

Part 1

HARRY POTTER MASTERLIST

Sometimes, y/n damned the day she said yes to those boys. Granted, it didn't happen often and it coincided unsurprisingly with every fight she had with them. Mostly Sirius to be fair. Remus hated arguing just as much as she did, only he did a better job in dealing with conflict. 

If y/n had to be honest, it was hard for her and Sirius not to clash. No matter how much she loved the boy, more often than not they'd argue. Usually, it started like harmless banter, Sirius loved to get a rise out of her since Remus was always so collected, and y/n couldn't hold her tongue if her life depended on it. Hence, their dynamic.

Those kinds of interactions though were never taken seriously by either of them. Not that they would admit it out loud, but they enjoyed them.

However, despite how Remus always tried to mediate between them on serious matters, sometimes it wasn't enough and they would apply that same dynamic to fights stem from more serious motives. Like it happened yesterday.

Laying in her bed, with the deafening silence of her dorm as a soundtrack, y/n could admit that she took Sirius bait. She was aware of her boyfriend's past and how difficult it was for him to express his feelings. Hell, her past wasn't as traumatic and she had a hard time doing that too. 

"Stupid," groaning at herself, she rolled around, unable to keep still for long. 

Truth is, she gave in to that part of herself that was always second-guessing everything good in her life and let her speak. Yes, after months of dating she still couldn't believe that two of the most amazing human beings on this planet chose her and loved her, but she wasn't so insecure about their relationship and their commitment to her. 

It was true that Sirius had a way of going about things that made him seem like a huge flirt but she knew in her heart that it was harmless. She could see it in his eyes every time he'd look at her or Remus. Least of all that Valerie. 

She overreacted.

"Fuck me," huffing in annoyance she couldn't believe that Sirius had been right all along, she had been a massive brat. 

"I think you're in the wrong place for that," Marlene's voice cut through the room startling her.

"Sorry Marls," she grimaced knowing that it was her shuffling and restlessness that woke her friend.

"I'm sure your loverboy would be more than happy to solve your problem. Just go to him." And giving y/n her back, she went back to sleep.  Y/n had confided in her friend, she usually liked to keep her relationship's problems between her and her boyfriends but Marlene had seen right through her. 

She let out a sigh, looking at the ceiling, she knew that she couldn't go on like this much longer. She never could sleep when she had a serious fight with her boyfriends. Trying to be as silent as possible and climbed the stairs to the common room. 

Trying to figure out the best way to approach Sirius after the fight, the best words to use, she almost missed the silhouette of a boy sitting in front of a fire. As soon as she had spotted it though, y/n knew immediately who it was.

Sirius always had trouble sleeping.

"Hey," not wanting to scare him, she quietly spoke to announce her presence before making her way to him.

"Hi," good thing she had spoken, 'cause Sirius appeared to be deep in thoughts and hadn't heard her coming down. "What are you doing here?" 

"Couldn't sleep. You?"

"Same."

Both of them were aware of the reason why both of them were too restless to sleep but it felt like the words needed to be said. Even if to just ease them into the conversation they knew they needed to have.

"Look-"

"Listen-"

Speaking at the same time like they were in some sort of romcom felt comical but also very in intune with them. Always clashing. 

Smiling softly at each other, they waited for the other to speak. Almost as if they had made a silent agreement, again, they spoke at the same time.

"I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry for?" Sirius added confused. She did nothing wrong as far as he's concerned.

"I overreacted, I was a bitch," she started listing with the help of her fingers, "I threw a fit, do I need to add more?"

"Oh baby," shaking his head he took her hands in his before continuing, "can't blame you for that when I would have reacted the same way, can I?"

"It seemed like I don't trust you though," now it was her turn to shake her head and give his hands a squeeze, "which is absolutely not true. I know you're loyal."

"Surely, you must know how deeply I care for you."

"I do, I do," she insisted when she saw doubt still clouding his eyes, "sometimes I let my insecurities get the best of me. I'm sorry if I hurt you though, it isn't an excuse."

"We all got insecurities, bunny. And I'm the one who's sorry, I shouldn't have messed with you that much. I was being an arsehole and I ruined your surprise." He reassured her before his head hung low in shame. There's the thing about Sirius: he could be very forgiving when it came to his loved ones but never when it came to himself. 

"You were a bit of a moron, but it's okay. I didn't want to come off as needy, you weren't that  late anyway." Taking his chin between her fingers, she tilted his head up so that she could look into his eyes. There was nothing y/n hated more than Sirius being so intransigent with himself when he deserved nothing but love and happiness. Good thing that he had two doting and loving partners then, right? 

"Bunny," tightening his hold on the hand he was still holding, his eyes glowed in the firelight, turning solemn as the words he was about to share, " you're the most important person in my life along with the marauders. If you want my attention, you got it. Hell, you already have all my attention. You're always on my mind, and certainly in my heart. I love you, there's no one but you and Remus. I promise." 

Letting his forehead touching hers gently, he gave her a soft Eskimo kiss. This soft intimacy always melted his heart. Sure, steamy makeup sex was always a wonderful post-fight but this- this was way better. Sirius had had plenty of sex with other people, it wasn't a secret, but he had never had this kind of quiet, almost domestic affection. And it was what he craved more than anything. It was one of those things that you can't live without once you had it. 

"I love you too, Sirius. You and Remus are it for me." She promised while her fingers gently caressed his jaw. They settled in comfortable silence, enjoying each other presence, basking in the promise that this would be forever. 

"Did you and Remus open it?" Leaning back so that she could see him better, she asked after a while.

"Nope wanted to make things right with you first."

"Then it's not ruined. Just postponed." As if the last couple of hours didn't happen, y/n felt the excitement come back to her. However, the clock neared midnight and having things finally been set straight between them, the strain of the day was slowly dawning on them. And as a matter of fact, Sirius yawned in the cutest way. Nose scrunched, eyes watering, he looked so much like a puppy, one wouldn't believe it.

"C'mon love, let's go to bed, alright?" Leaving a kiss to his lips, she quietly coaxed him up from the sofa. 

"Can't we stay here and cuddle a bit more?" Groaning, he complained settling his head in the crook of her neck, refusing to let her go.

"Who said we had to part? I'm not letting you go tonight, but I'm sure Moony is feeling lonely up there." She said quickly pecking his temple, the closest part of his face she could reach and walked towards their dorm with him attached to her like a koala. 

"Mh yes, let's go then. Moony gives the best cuddles."

"That he does my love." She agreed giggling. Remus was the best at quite a few things but maybe they could explore them in the morning.

May 2021 Wk 3

It’s a cray cray Friday when Vietnam gets its eng subs up before GMMTV Thailand. What alter-reality are we in? Well, the Vietnamese offerings are better right now anyway. (Oooo, feel that burn.) 

Ongoing Series - Thai

Top Secret Together Ep 2 - pulping it up in the best possible way. Sure sound and production values are pants, and in classic Thai fashion the editing in post is exacerbating (rather than fixing) pacing issues, but it’s still CUTE AF. I don’t even mind the added university storyline, because they’ve got good chemistry (and a confident gay fresher after a panicked gay hazer is an old favorite... what can I say, SOTUS was my first love). We aren’t spending too much time with any one couple, so it’s weighted a lot better than Brothers was, but also character development is slow. 

Siew Sum Noi Ep 2 - Unfortunately, it’s just too hard to find, plus no subs. I’m dropping it in the hopes it comes back on my radar some day. 

Y-Destiny Ep 8 - (Thurs) It’s rough having a ghost boyfriend, half your friends are scared, the other half think you’re crazy, and kissing shortens your lifespan. This was a cute couple even if I wasn’t wild about the surrounding story. 

Close Friend Ep 5: (Dear My Star/JimmyTommy) - about high school penpals. It had to rely entirely on voice over work as the actors only meet face to face at the end. It’s a good thing they are appealing screen presences on their own, with good vocal control. It’s hard to imagine any other BL pair carrying this kinda plot. It’s by far my favorite of the series so far, and I’m not even a big JimmyTommy fan. 

Fish Upon The Sky Ep 7 - no subs. Do we care? Not really. Because we have... 

Nitiman Ep 3 - currently my favorite out of Thailand. It’s the university Thai BL i’ve been waiting for since... when was the last good one? My Engineer? Yowza. Anyway we got: head on my shoulder, baby is a floppy drunk (but still wants to be in control), proximity alert, boyfriend’s closet, seme gets seriously jelly, and a cute twist on feeding him. There’s something fun and complex about Jin’s character. He’s not a panicked bi. He knows exactly what’s going on, he just hasn’t decided if he wants Bb or not. He clearly enjoys being looked after, the compliments, and the attention, but he’s not sure if he’s going to like what happens if he gives in. I like that twist on the usual tsundere uke archetype a lot, cautious rather than willfully obtuse or freaked out. Ongoing Series - Not Thai

HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 10 fin - the most ridiculous show using BLs worst tropes in a sort of weird smoothie of bitter greens and too ripe banana. The ending was the sappiest cheesiest thing ever, like cheese syrup tapped from the cheese tree. So of course I loved it, but I’m pretty sure I giggled through all the bits meant to be profound. Because, in the end, to tolerate this show at all, you just can’t take ANY of it seriously. RECOMMENDED (with some SERIOUS reservations and trigger warnings.) Full review here. 

Be Loved in House: I Do (Taiwan) Ep 1-2 - I don’t mind a damaged seme character but this one is a bit weird for me. Like creepy Cheese in the Trap level weird. On the bright side, the story has given our tsundere uke good motivation for his angst and great existing friendships, loyalty, and likability. Plus I’m invested in the cafe owner/innocent puppy side dishes. So if it’s only the seme character I’m not jiving with, and he’s the most established actor, it should all turn out fine. I believe in you, Taiwanese BL. 

Papa & Daddy (Taiwan) Ep 6 fin - speaking of belief. This such a good show but they gave us a cliffhanger ending. Now we must hope against hope for season two. That’s never guaranteed with Taiwan tho. So, I’m docking a few points and saying, RECOMMENDED so long as you realize it’s a cliffhanger. 

Love is Science? (Taiwan) Ep 1-9 (BL subplot) - this is a good het romance, but the fact that the BL subplot is a beautifully acted disaster bi + confident gay means you’re hearing about it whether you want to or not. Plus they just added in some GL! Come on! I gotta support Taiwan normalizing queer to this extent. They are fighting the good fight and if I also have to watch a career lady and her much younger softest straight boi get it on, too? Twist my arm with that service sub subtext. Go on Taiwan, TWIST IT. It’s on Viki. Best of all, the series is still airing, which makes it longer than any other Vietnamese BL I’ve seen (aside from Tein Bromance - which is just too weird to count).

No one is entirely sure what Studio Wabi Sabi’s Seven Project/7Project will entail.

They’re giving the couple’s arcs separate titles. So each one would be what? Seven Project: Once Upon a Time or the like? We’re in Taiwanese title territory people and NO ONE WANTS TO GO THERE. Anygay... 

Once Upon a Time is the BounPrem (og UWMA) anchor story, and seems to be the most dramatic and likely saddest. These two can handle most of what’s thrown at them at this juncture, so it should be good. 

Vs Love is a BoomPeak (og Make it Right) university vehicle. Since I thought Boom was done with our nonsense, I couldn’t be more thrilled and surprised this pair is doing another show together. I don’t think either of them are the greatest actors but I find Peak very endearing and Boom charismatic on screen, so I’ll watch. 

Would You be My Love is the hotly anticipated SantaEarth launch. They’re a (cultivated) IRL ship and Earth is an established BL actor. They have great chemistry and high energy so this could be lots of fun. 

We are also getting a GL from this series from established BL actresses Samantha and Pineare. Nothing teased yet on that, but I’m looking forward to this installment the most. Also curious to see how the ladies handle the branding and promo side, not to mention the culture. (Thailand variety shows gonna force *girls* to play the Pepero game?) 

Secret Crush on You upcoming Thai BL with no release date, co-produced by and featuring (but NOT staring) Saint and directed by Cheewin (sigh) with all fresh faces. (Previously known as Stalker the series.) It looks like pure pulp and I’m not wild about the plot but could be better than expected as it’s adapted from a novel. Cheewin is an okay director when he has an actual story to follow. 

Don’t Say No the series. Coming from the producers of TharnType this is the JaFirst vehicle many have been waiting for. Friends to lovers + a good boy/bad boy pairing on a sports romance foundation. It’s basketball so they tapped Meen as well (he’s semi-pro). The bad news? You get one guess as to who is writing the darn thing? Yep it’s MAME. So, ya know, expect some slam dunk kidnapping, a light dribbling of rape, and me turning into a basketcase. AKA... 

Will I have to live blog this series in order to survive it? That seems to be the only way I can. So probably. Which means the bad sports puns will continue. Look, if I’m suffering, SO ARE YOU! 

Rumors of a new YinWar vehicle The Best Story (mini series) coming in July. Also rumors that their previously announced Love Mechanics (full length series) has either been delayed, is facing money issues, or is moving studios, or all three.

Love Area’s release was pushed out but it got a trailer. 

Golden Blood was supposed to drop Weds but comments in MDL report that it is delayed due to C19.  

Love’s Outlet (Taiwan) is supposed to have started a 50 episode run (only 3-5 min each, what utter nonsense). Sadly, this delay is due to a surge in cases in Taiwan which was doing so well, but also doesn’t have many inoculations.

Why Do I Like AppleDash So Much?

Literally nobody has ever asked me this but I'm going to answer this question anyway.

Intro: How I Got Into My Little Pony

Imma be real. The reason I started watching the show is because some of my old Twitter mutuals were interacting with posts about the Friendship Is Magic 10th anniversary. Some of them were talking about Rarijack and how it was a good ship, and others were discussing the implied canonicity of Appledash.

I had, at the time, just finished catching up on The Owl House that had recently been in the process of finishing up season one or had just gone into hiatus (can't remember which) and I was losing interest in my old hyperfixations fast.

See, I do this thing where I get really REALLY invested in a show and then as soon as it ends or as soon as I absorb every bit of media in it, I lose some of the interest or it fades. I don't usually lose full interest. For example, I still love She-Ra (my last big fandom) and I'm obviously still invested in The Owl House, but ever since both of those shows ended/stalled, I was desperately needing something to distract me from the trials and tribulations of my will to live that my daily life often forced upon me.

As you can guess, ponies was my solution.

I went into the show with a Rarijack mindset, but knowing that Appledash existed. I guess my mutuals just really liked Rarijack. I decided to give season one a chance. Actually, I felt quite silly for even deciding to watch the show. You see, back in 2018, I was still quite... trivial about watching anything that was seen as "girly". I didn't really have any problems with watching cartoons (ie. V*ltron, Steven Universe, Avatar, Pokemon etc.) but it was the fact that a show was "girly" that made me iffy. I had a very fragile masculinity, okay?

Anyway, so I actually was really afraid to watch She-Ra, even though the teaser images and trailer looked good. But I did and I decided that even "girly" shows could be good and that I was silly.

But, oh boy, cringe culture really messed with me. In mid/late 2020, I was ashamed to watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I said I'd watch one season just so I could laugh at it. I wanted to watch it as a joke, and who knows, maybe I found a guilty pleasure to watch while I waited for The Owl House to come back?

I loaded up Netflix and I hit play. Instantly, I was cringing at myself. Can you blame me? Early season MLP was obviously meant for kids. Not that it was immature or bad, but it was definitely a kid's show, especially considering the iconic storybook opening of episode one.

I watched the episodes, but they mostly were just background noise as I did other things. I remember watching them, but I was indifferent, although frustrated that I found myself chuckling at a few of the jokes and quips. I wasn't that invested, though. I thought Twilight was boring, Rarity obnoxious, Pinkie annoying, Fluttershy frustrating, and Rainbow Dash infuriating. I didn't really mind Applejack, I mostly kinda just thought she was the best one. (Nothing's changed, eh?)

And then....

Fall Weather Friends

Season One Episode Thirteen rolled around.

It starts (as y'all know) with Rainbow Dash and Applejack throwing horseshoes.

I don't know why, but this caught my attention. Of course, being only a few episodes after Look Before You Sleep, I had Rarijack on the mind. But I did think that Applejack and Rainbow Dash were probably good friends and would make for an interesting pairing, and a more interesting episode given their similarities, but also their differences.

I found myself fully watching this episode, and I dare say, it's the episode that dragged me fully into the show.

Maybe it's because I see myself in both of them in a way. Maybe that's why I connect so much with the pair, but them having an episode together? That was really good for me. I wasn't in the best state of mind, and something about seeing two characters that were in some ways reminiscent of myself interact and argue and have an endearing episode together made me smile.

It was then that I discovered the simple amazingness of AppleDash.

I mean, who doesn't love obnoxious, competitive girlfriends that are both prideful and headstrong?

I know I love it.

Anyway, so at that point, my mind kinda just clicked and I decided that my OTP was AppleDash. However, poly rights and Applejack has two front hooves *cough* Rarijackdash *cough*

But yeah so that's how I got into AppleDash. Fall Weather Friends, which was kinda the episode that made me love MLP.

How That Progressed

Well, obviously, I still love that ship I mean I live for it. If I could have any one single ship it'd be them. It just kept getting better and better as the show progressed, I mean their dynamic is great whether you want to see it platonically or romantically. They have a lot in common right off the bat (example, they are both incredibly stubborn, though AJ would take the cake for that) and seem to be close (I mean right from episode one they appear to already have a pre-established friendship), but they're also different. Applejack is a hard worker all of the time with anything she does, while Dash tends to be lazy but can be extremely driven when she is motivated (for example, when she wants to achieve her Wonderbolts dream). Applejack is immensely caring and family-oriented and does things for the good of everypony, while Rainbow Dash can be kind of a jerk and not mindful of her actions when she's wrapped up in the stuff she's doing for herself (not to say she isn't caring, but she tends to be kind of an ass, even to Fluttershy sometimes).

Their growth was immensely fun to watch and as time went on, they shared more and more screentime together. Even if it's not an episode that revolves around them, whenever one of them is in frame, most of the time the other is close by, and they often stand next to each other.

Now, in terms of why they work in the show's canon (in my opinion, either romantically or platonically, they do make a great pairing):

They are both competitive and enjoy competing with each other, though they know (especially after FWF when they've taken it too far)

They watch out for each other (AJ often holds Rainbow Dash back when she's about to rush into danger, especially in early seasons, and Dash always lifts AJ out of danger first [the two examples I can think of off the top of my head are in Best Gift Ever and My Little Pony: The Movie])

Their personalities even each other out. (AJ is a lot more calm than RD, and while they can both get worked up, Applejack is usually the calm one)

Their colour schemes are literally complementary. (AJ's coat is orange while Rainbow's is blue. AJ's eyes are green while RD's are pink/red).

They share a lot of cute moments. (You can just look these up)

THEY'RE HECCING CUTE.

AND FINALLY

I mean fuck, the finale. They're literally canon, you cannot tell me otherwise. It was absolutely intended and you cannot prove otherwise. (read the script notes l o l "we actually could do sort of a subtle wink to the idea that they are now a couple???" < RE Appledash). They live together, they have domestic arguments about chores, they are always giving each other fond looks throughout the episode, always standing next to or near each other, and well we all know Rainbow's iconic hoof on AJ's head in the last shot of the show.

Ashleigh Ball really was the OG shipper and fuck it, she was right. We all know they are in love, she knows they are in love. The only reason they couldn't explicitly state it in the show is probably bc Hasbro would have been against that at the time (I mean, Lyrabon had to be very subtle but hey we gottem).

Oh and, I know this isn't exactly canon canon, but it is an official game: The My Little Pony Magic Princess app. Future AJ and RD's descriptions allude to them being together.

You could negate this and say that this is just them being friends but I mean... come on. Come on. Sweet Apple Acres is Apple family land, and the only people who live there as of The Last Problem are Apples. (AJ, Sugar Belle and Big Mac and their foal, and you guessed it... Rainbow Dash).

You cannot tell me that they aren't canon. You'd really have to be grasping at straws because all the signs are there. They had build up, development, and it just makes sense.

If you don't think it makes sense... did we watch the same show??? It absolutely makes sense.

honestly i just really love creating deep n lasting dynamics whether it’s romantic, platonic, enemies, etc. it’s a big part of roleplay for me tbh n it drives me to keep writing n gives me inspiration when i have some kind of dynamic to build toward n kno where something may be heading !! even with pre established things its rly fun just building after that n i loooove exploring different types of relationships, how my muse responds to them or grows in them or in some cases gets worse lmao but it’s just a huge fun part for me to explore dynamics. as for romance specific, i just really do love to explore romantic types of dynamics it’s just interesting for me. the build up, the earning of trust, how they respond to each other, how it starts, how it might end or flourish !! i love every bit of it, really n i love thinking about just every detail of those dynamics n then writing different parts of it n building it up n i just love getting to talk to my writing partners about these things !! 

2. what’s the worst thing about shipping for you?

tbh starting out maybe; like the being too shy to ask step n i get afraid to ask if people might want to ship so i just...don’t in most cases;; n probably just in the cases people may drop our ship out of nowhere or not be as excited as i am i guess ?? i get very invested in dynamics since it’s just easier n more fun for me to write that way n i just put a special place in my heart n mind for every ship i have on my muses tbh !! so if people do wanna drop our ship or what we’re building i’d rather just be told n then move on since i kno things don’t work out sometimes n that’s absolutely fine but being left in limbo doesn’t feel the greatest;;

10. what do you think about poly ships? would you play any?

oh i LOVE poly ships i won’t lie. on this blog i am VERY weak for hyth/azem/hades n wol with hyth n hades as well. but ive had a lot of fun in the past doing poly ships with myself n  two others n developing that way was just !! so much fun honestly ?? it’s i think one of the best sorts of experiences n i love just getting to develop dynamics between three people like that. though i’ve also had poly ships between two people with the third being assumed as an npc as well. i just really do love poly ships !!

21. what’s something that immediately turns you off from shipping with someone?

hmmm i guess when people just collect u ?? it feels hollow n i’m not too big a fan of it tho i mostly just have trouble with that on my canon muses but i still don’t like it much;; i’ put a lot of thought into ships n try to always make it a different experience for each ship i have even if it’s duplicates but i don’t usually have a lot of duplicates i ship with at once since i like putting more energy into what i have rather than collecting because it just feels bad n i kno how it feels tbh n i just have no inclination to do that or want to be part of a collection where i drown into the background. also just people who ghost me a lot or don’t seem interested at all kind of turns me off a ship pretty fast ngl. i’m patient n i’ll always be here for u to come chat to me about ships but if its radio silence for a very long time n no interactions are being put forth or even just inbox stuff sent every once a while at least i just idk lose energy for it sometimes. real life comes first tho n i never mind that at all i’d rather people take care of themselves !! i personally have adhd n just forget messages a lot or answer them in my head n think i did...so i get it but honestly if we’re plotting or talking about a dynamic never be afraid to shout to me about it always i get SO excited !!

Heck yee, I love poly ships >w< Tbh, the way I see it, even as a harem, there are some pretty distinct smaller groupings. A bunch of em…. Hmmm… I’ll make a list with my thoughts on each. Just plz keep in mind, for the MC ships, I’ll explain more the relationship between the named characters than with them because… MCS are just so varied, I cant account for everyone and how they’d be. And if I do bring em up, it’s based on what I like in my MCs lol <w< Or what I think would mesh the best.

-        Diavolo/Lucifer/Barbaratos: Yee I ship these council goons. Their friendship is so cute, especially how both Lucifer and Barbaratos have a soft spot and give in to Diavolo’s antics uwu Like, I swear, anytime one of them tells Diavolo no to something, the other will help enable him anyways. I’m a sucker for ‘touch starved/needy Diavolo’ too, so I like to imagine the three’s relationship starting as professional with the occasional moments of showing they care, but once they get closer and Diavolo confesses (particularly to Lucifer) about his insecurity in feeling alone, their level of touchy-feely-ness will gradually increase… behind closed doors that is. Barbaratos has no shame in his affections being public, he likes making Diavolo happy, but Lucifer is hesitant to make their relationship known. He’d rather keep up appearances, and Diavolo doesn’t want to ask too much of him, so this is their compromise.

-        Asmodeus/Solomon/MC: Ahahaha look v-v I am not much of an Asmo fan. But I can see his appeal, and I do like the Solomon/Asmodeus ship. That said, how their poly ship can work depends entirely on the MC (tho that’s a given with how different MCs can be lol). Asmodeus is sure to love having two powerful humans be in control of him, even flaunting it as a sort of status symbol. And he’d most definitely act like a brat. I don’t see Solomon as being one to give into Asmo as much as he’d want someone to, so I can imagine this scenario being common, lol:

Asmo going to Solomon for whatever reason. Solomon is busy/distracted and keeps brushing off Asmo’s attempts to get his attention. Asmo gets HUFFY and storms to MC to demand attention from them instead.

Basically, MC would have to bear the brunt of Asmo’s needs lol. Solomon won’t always be so obtuse, but he’s just not as inclined to emotional stuff.

-        Solomon/Simeon/Luke: Love their dynamic. Just friends looking out for each other <3 I can especially imagine them in domestic situations. Their dissing Solomon’s cooking? Solomon’s and Simeon’s shared custody of keeping Luke from trouble? <3 <3 <3 Bonus, heres a scenario I like:

Luke being a ‘helicopter parent’ to Solomon’s annoyance when he gets super into a project. Bringing him snacks, tidying up his workspace, sending him texts to remind him of stuff he needs to do. All the while scolding him for not taking better care of himself, but secretly feeling happy that he is needed. Simeon helps take care of Solomon too, but not to the extent that Luke does. He’s better at watching from the sidelines, amused at Luke hauling a semi-conscious Solomon from bed to get a proper breakfast.

-        Belphegor/Beelzebub/MC: >-> Here’s a bit of a rant. It’s no secret I hate Belphie. No hate to Belphie lovers, y’all are great and free to love who you love, my gripe is just with how little the story did to redeem him to us. Anyways, my hate for him extended so much that it affected my love for Beel too ;o; See, before his return, I LOVED Beel. He was cutting it close with Mammon in being my favorite. He’s such a wholesome boi full of love for his family <3 But with Belphie’s return… loving Beel and hating Belph is just not good for him.It’d never work. They are a package deal. The closest of the brothers. Of course all your time with Beel or Belph would be spent with the other as well. Even Belph tells you that in his dream scenario, he’d run away with you and Beel and live happily together. They are already set on loving one person together, that’s just how it is -w-“

-        Lucifer/Mammon/MC: Mammon is Lucifer’s favorite brother. In particular, people note that he finds Mammon to be cute. Weeeeeellllllllllll, here’s a bit of tmi for my take on my MC, the reason they dislike Lucifer is because his personality is a bit like theirs too, with some key differences. And of course, that being the case…. Mammon is their favorite too. So, the way I see this is, both Lucifer and MC sharing Mammon. Lucifer scolds him, MC comforts and enables him, Lucifer tries but can’t stop MC, and the song and dance continues. <3

-        Leviathan/MC/Mammon: Listen, the beef these two had is the first thing you’re thrown into and I find it hilarious in retrospect. Levi does not like you, and only approaches you to use you to get back at Mammon. This makes Mammon the first to form a contract with you, and later, become your first genuine friend out of the brothers. The first to care uwu Then, WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE and Levi has grown to like you, his dialogue about you preferring Mammon? “Is it because he was your first?” Motherfucker, you could’ve been the first if you weren’t so up your ass in calling me ‘Normie Trash’ X,D Jealous shit. But it’s cute in a way. His rivalry with Mammon, their bickering. Both vying for MC’s attention, calling out each other’s bs, later having moments of defending the other when shit gets too far or others attack em, it’s entertaining to me.

-        Asmodeus/MC/Beelzebub: I’ll keep this one short. I can see this solely because Asmo has, on multiple occasions, spoken of his interest in Beel. To be FAIR, Asmo would form a polyship with ANY of his brothers, lol, just typing this one in particular for that reason.

-        Beelzebub/MC/Luke: Absolutely wholesome. Adorable. I feel that out of all the brothers, Luke has the best relationship with Beel. I’d love to see them interact more -w- (I am on Lesson 29). As it stands, I’m jumping into headcannon territory straight up lol:

MC and Luke get close first. Luke is the first person to have reached out to MC with good intentions (which compared to the brother’s hostile initial meetings, is a HUGE relief), and since MC respects and does not tease Luke, he attaches to them like a puppy. Beel and them grow close too with the reveal of the family history, and Beel generally feeling at ease with both people. Can you picture Beel feeling drowsy, draped over Luke as he studies and finding the scent of baked goods and vanilla coming from him comforting? Cuz I can -/w/- Hella cute. Luke IS pushy, and Beel finds it annoying at times. They’d have arguments, and initially, Beel would subconsciously make Luke feel threatened with his size and temper, but with the help of MC interfering, he’d be more mindful of it in the future. With the curbing of Beel’s temper, Luke would also learn to feel more comfortable around him, and ALSO with MC’s interference, he’d be more mindful of his nagging nature. All in all, their arguments would lead to them feeling huffy the next day and giving the other the silent treatment… but then after a while, Luke would bake too much of something and aaah, he GUESSES Beel could have some since it just so happens to be his FAVORITE… and they’d be back to snuggling. Bleeh.

Why yes hello anon, I have thoughts! Many thoughts! None of which are coherent but for you I shall try!

So first of all, yeah, we've gotten some great ot3 moments so far! Those moments have been talked to death so I won't speak too much on it. But they're clearly in each other's pockets and spend most of every waking (and prrrrobably sleeping tbh) moment together. For me, personally, it's not all that ambiguous, mostly because I choose to believe they're all together until I'm proven otherwise. I see the shrimp colors, anon. Do you see them? Look closer anon, see the shrimp colors with me, they're so beautiful--

As for Eliot's dynamic with Maria Shipp...I'm not all that worried by that actually! I can't find the post where I talked about it a few months ago, but my thought process back then was that while it was clear that the marshal is interested in Eliot, he seems awkward and weird about it. Like she flirts with him and he kind of responds, but not to the extent that Eliot in OG leverage would have. When he is actively flirting, he's working an angle, and when he's not working an angle, he's just sort of letting it happen. Like the whole thing with her texting him? Odd, sure, and maybe Eliot's a little interested (because, let's be real, Eliot likes a woman who can kick his ass, and the first thing she does when they meet is hold her own in a fight against him) but I don't think he's interested you know what I mean? And that whole episode ended with the conversation between him and Sophie where he specifically said "It's not like that". What it is like is a mystery, but I take it to mean that Eliot has what he wants in Hardison and Parker, and isn't looking for more than that.

Now I guess you could also take that to mean that what he meant was it isn't like the big romantic thing Sophie was making it out to be and that it's only a flirtation or a fling or a side thing (which is FINE I GUESS! Poly relationships can be between more than the people you started out with, I'm assuming, idk, I'm not in one lol), but again, I'm seeing shrimp colors here, anon, and I like to think it's the former option!

Maria Shipp is supposed to come back, so there's a chance for more flirtatious moments between her and Eliot. In fact I'm pretty sure she comes back in episode 13 but I'm excited about that! Like I said in the linked post, what it sounds like to me is that it isn't Maria that Eliot's meant to come out of that episode closer with. We'll see, we'll see!

Mostly, anon, what this boils down to is I believe in ot3 supremacy above all else and am possibly too blinded by the ot3 shrimp colors to see reason. But I'm cool with it!

Pre-season 3 they’re cute, but then this ship offers so much potential for angst and heartbreak, it’s fantastic. All that pain of betrayal and being torn between love and convictions/loyalty, and how you can mourn someone who’s still alive but... doesn’t exist anymore in the way you loved them.

what makes me happy about them:

On the first glance, they look like they both got their shit together, but actually they’re a chaotic duo that you really shouldn’t mess with.

what makes me sad about them:

How they ended; from a certain point onward, it’s nearly impossible to give them a happy ending. While I love that about the ship, they do both deserve to be happy so... yeah.

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

When Gwen’s made out as a pushover who yields too easily to Morgana, or when Morgana’s actions are glossed over or excused too easily.

things I look for in fanfic:

All the conflict, all the angst. Either forgiveness that’s worked for, or none at all. To me, this is a lovers-to-enemies ship, and I want the whole mess that involves.

I love them as a friendship, and I also think there were some unrequited feelings from Gwaine’s side, which is fun to explore.

They’re such a chaotic duo, and I love them getting up to all sorts of mischief.

I personally don’t think they would be happy with each other long-term, and if I stay with my own headcanons, it’s definitely sad that Gwaine was left pining after Merlin while Merlin probably remained oblivious to it. Of course, losing Gwaine still would’ve hit Merlin hard which is also just sad.

They all deserve good things, and I think they’d make each other incredibly happy.

The whole tragedy of how they ended; the idea of a poly-relationship where at least one part eventually dies is just... oof.

If the relationship between the three isn’t balanced, or if it’s made out to be super-easy once they agreed to it. Relationships generally take work, and a poly-relationships specifically requires a lot of open, honest conversations and reflecting on yourself. I want to see the struggle with that.
