#I just love how scared Scrooge is that episode and how Webby is holding his hand so he doesn't get scared

Ducktales Treasure of the Golden Sun: Three Ducks of the Condor or Now with More Racism!
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy people! And welcome back to my look at Ducktales: Treasure of the Golden Suns!, the pilot episodes that started it all. This look was one of my patreon stretch goals. To explain them in case some of you aren’t familiar with patreon it’s essentially like a kickstarter stretch goal: every milestone I reach in my monthly earnings means a crop of reviews for you guys, with this being 10 and my review of the movie, and the goofy movies in two weeks and September respectively, being the 15 dollar one. So if you want reviews of the OTHER Ducktales mini series Time Is Money and Super DuckTales, then hop on aboard and help me reach my 20 dollar goal so I can keep making these reviews for a living and give you all more. Said goal also includes a Darkwing Duck review eveyr month AND a review of teh Danny Phantom special The ULtimate Enemy so hop on board HERE AT MY PATREON.  Patrons also get exclusive reviews, access to my discord server (Though if anyone would be more intrersted in me making that public let me know), and to pick a short each time I do a birthday special for a character from Looney Tunes, Disney and Beyond. And next month is my boy Donald’s so since you all already sat out goofy NOW is the time.
So now my very necessary plug is out of the way, i’m very poor, we can get to the review proper:
When last we left off Scrooge and the Boys went on their first proper adventure together, heading to Central America to follow the map from the first episode and running into Dr.Claw  El Capitan and his new best buddy Glomgold. Mild racisim, moonsoons and much better pacing ensued.
So join me under the cut as my boy Donald returns, some iconic characters are introduced in Webby, Launchpad and Beakly, though this series only made one of them iconic to be fair, and we get some more mild racisim because fuck my life. Onward to the cut!
Tumblr media
So yeah as I’ve mentioned a few times now this episode had a content warning.. which was fair as there is some pretty cringy stuff in here but it had the side effect of me holding my breath until the racisim came up and whapped me in the face. So i’m keeping that tension up for you guys so I don’t have to suffer alone.
We open at the Mansion. Scrooge is trying to find a governess for the boys, but they keep scaring off all the clients because they don’t like the idea. And for once.. i’m on Scrooge’s side here. Yes I know there’s a sterotype of rich people hiring a nanny to not have to parent. and it’s sadly often true and it’d SEEM like Scrooge is doing that.. but really he just wants the boys to be safe. He’s fully grown to care for them and just wants someone cheap and responsible to look after them while he’s busy and clearly still makes time for them. As someone who is a former nanny, albeit for someone working class, I get that as much as you WANT to spend every moment with your kid you often can’t. I say all this because SO MANY kids movies and shows villianize parents for not spending time with their kid when their clearly just working to support them. There are nuanced exceptions to this and refreshingly Craig of the Creek has outright avoided this: JP’s mom is gone almost all the time due to working as an airline pilot, but while he clearly misses her he never resents her or guilts her over it, he understands sh’es supporting him and goes out of his way to make sure his friends can meet her. It’s really swee.t And while again I get it, this guys a billionare, most examples aren’t, Scrooge still really CAN’T stop working: He has more money than god and like most bilionares REALLY should give most of it to charity or to help with programs instead of hoarding it in a massive bin.. but he’s also got tons of companies, factories, investments... people COUNTING on him to make sure these are working correctly and keep their jobs. So yeah i’ts nice that the show isn’t demonizing scrooge for this or dosen’t even consider it: he’s getting help beacuse he needs it, that’s what’s important.
So while the boys widdle down the nannies, Scrooge talks to a renowned coin collector. He does show off his collection to the guy, but his main goal is naturally to show him the coin from last time. Turns out that naturally for a five part episode the treasure they lost last time was just a fraction of the real thing and the real titular treasure is a mythical horde even Scrooge, who normally has proved something out of myth is very real 5 times before breakfast, didn’t think existed.
Something I do love about this five parter is how every treasure hunt has ended up being important each piece of the puzzle leading to the next like any good treasure hunt. As for where this one leads the collector HAS heard of only one other coin like it, up in the Andes Mountains in a mysterious fortress whose mountain habitat and being a fortress makes it hard to get to and the owner is apparently a real piece of work.. but Scrooge isn’t afraid of a little hard work and is ready to go after it.. he just has to find a Nanny first.
And he does as there’s only one left: Mrs. Beakley, who we FINALLY meet after two episodes. Yeah for some weird reasont his episode choose to cram the rest of the major main and supporting cast into one episode.. it still works, they all still get great introductions it’s just weird to me when you have five episodes to not say introduce Launchpad last time.
But regardless as I said it’s a good intro.. despite the boys wilding a lasso and a snake.
Tumblr media
Beakly is unphased and even dosen’t remotely fall for them trying to say she got the wrong name. And while Scrooge is a little impressed, he’s even more when she states she’ll work for free... with one condition: Free room and board for her and her grandaughter, Webby, who has been there the whole time and looking cute as a button. Scrooge is unsure but one minute of Webby being adorable later and he’s agreed. She can’t eat much right? He also hopes she’ll help the boys not be douchebags, unaware that their inherent poorly written sexisim means that was never going to work. And why yes I will call it out eveyr time it happens because it happens every time they have an episode together and only gets worse.
He goes to Gyro for help and Classic Gyro.. is utterly delightful. While I clearly have issues with Classic Scrooge, whose a greedy poorly aged asshat and the boys, who are sterotypes of male children, Gyro? He’s nice, friendlya nd eccentric, using a delightfully wakcky pogo hat thing to think and takes only a mintue to figure out how to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem and only needs a few hours to build his cool looking bird ship, using bird legs to offset the hard to sort out landing conditions. But since it’s a fancy bitch, it needs a pilot and i’m sure we all know where this is going...but since Carol Danver sis busy he has to go with Launchpad.
Launchpad’s intro is great, cheerful as he does a job testing a plane and naturally crashes it, and when thought dead walks out seconds later unharmed and jolly as ever. Scrooge is naturally terrified of the prospect of flying with him but dosen’t really have another choice “I hope my insurance is paid up.” Scrooge it’s you.. of course it isn't.
So with that our hero bids a farewell to the boys and ends up unteitonally coming off MASSIVELY unlikeable. No really he leaves them behind for their saftey despite needing help... and then upon finding out Donald is going to be on leave soon in the andes, and just assumes that YOU KNOW, he’d LIKE to go on a dangerous exausting adventure instead of actually get some rest after working in the goddamn navy and STILL dosen’t take the kids along despite having a very tearjerking farewell IN FRONT OF HIM that happened at most a month ago. Granted i’m suprised Donald is getting leave this soon.. but since I genuinely like to look into this sort of thing and the last time I didn’t I was correctly reminded Gulliver’s Travels was a satire.. and found out someone HAD actually watched the Jack Black movie. I only vaugely remember a trailer.. I thinkn it was a trailer? Maybe it was the middle part of a juinor novelzation where htey have all the photos? I really don’t know. I know almost every pokemon on sight but not where I saw pictures of a forgetable jack black movie, what a shock.
So long story short I DID google it. Here’s what I got
Tumblr media
So given clealry more time has passed than we’ve seen on screen, enough time COULD have passed for Donald’s three day pass to kick in. So credit to the crew for actually thinking that out. They still get all the blame though for not only not seeing how bad not taking the kids to see the uncle whose like a father to them a month after he left when he CLEARLY can is bad, but how worse it is that the first break donald gets ina  month.. is spent helping scrooge against his will on a life or death treasure hunt.
And I get WHY they wanted to try out having Donald on an adventure: he was in most of the carl barks material.... but I also dont’ get it as Launchpad was deisgned entirely to fill in for Donald when needed, we’re only three episodes into the series and this gives the wrong impression Donald will guest star a lot more. In practice while he still did get a meaty 8 episodes on the show including this one, 2 of which were cameos and the pilot only dosne’t count because of the exnteded slapstick sequence, and dosen’t appear at all after season 1, likely because Fenton’s introduction made him reduntant as he was an even more blatant Donald stand-in. It just feels weird to shove him into the pilot movie when we should be focusing on our main cast, epsecially with so many getting intorduced this episode. It woudl’ve made more sense for Gyro to be the third man instead and it woud’ve elmaited Scrooge’s uttelry horrible actions here of depriving his nephews of their surrogate father.
Tumblr media
So Uncle Dickstick leaves with Launchpad to go abduct donald.... and tha’ts not me being funny, that’s what actually happens. Donald is singing out on leave.. with his superior... weirdly doing paper work outside on the flight deck.
Tumblr media
And is angry at Donald because of him taking pictures and stuff and threatens him if he’s not back exactly in time... because look he’s on a boat with a bunch of sweaty men but as the most superior officer he can’t enjoy that so he has to get off SOMEHOW and ruining donald’s life just happens ot be a thing for him.
So yeah Scrooge straight up naps Donald via claw and Donald is angry, wondering, as you’d expect “What’s the big idea”.. and once Scrooge clairfies he did it.. still asks that because what the fuck. And the episode treats this as comical, as it does Launchpad not understanding Donald.. and don’t get me wrong you CAN make a good “I can’t understand Donald Duck” joke, the 2017 series made PLENTY. But said series also spoiled me as they did it with far more effort, while also still showing just how much it would suck to have everyone around you struggle to hear what you say and never listen to you. They actually cared abotu Donald’s well being where as this one thinks “Gee you knwo what would go great iwth a hard month’s naval work? MORE WORK HELPING YOUR UNCLE GET RICHER FOR NO PERSONAL BENIFIT AFTER HE KIDNAPS YOU”.
So our heroes.. and scrooge, head to Andes and find the temple and it’s here “Sigh” we met our antagonist. A Conquestador Douche who DOES have a name and it is on the wiki.. but is so generic and unlikeble I’m just going to keep calling him conquestador douche, whose introduced waving his sun coin around while the natives all bow to him because of the coin.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the racisim! Admitely it’s not as bad as Treasure of the Lost Lamp, that’s a high bar to clear, but ti’s still not great to have the racist cliche of “character conquers a civilization because of they belivie he’s a messenger for their “silly” god”. And the saddest part is not that I didn’t notice this trope and how bad it was as a kid watching shows like this... but that as an ADULT about 4 years ago when I watched this episode how racist it and this trope in general was didn’t register to me at all. That.. really bothers me that it took me this long to pick up on things like this and i’m sorry for it.
That’s honestly WHY we need these warnings and WHY i’m so hard on this racisim: it wasn’t necessary, it could’ve been removed and you clearly just didn’t care or didn’t realize it was racist. And even acceptable for the time dosen’t work for anymore: I learned recently that the creators of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, both white, hired black writers..and actually LISTENED, looking to them for personal stories and to check them if one of the white staff wrote something that wasn’t true to the black experience. I know that sounds like the bare minimum but this was the early 90′s, that kind of thinking wasn’t hte norm like it is in most writer’s rooms now.. and sadly not ALL writer’s rooms. Not only that but just today I ran into a MST3K skit that lampooned this kind of bullshit from not long after this episode. People clearly knew better, the writers of this episode just didn’t’t care
So yeah, I get this was a kids show in the 80′s, I get the writing staff being almost all white.. but they still coudl’ve avoided cliche sterotypes and done something diffrent. It was was still wiithin white people like myselves power to actually think about something other htan themselves and we did not. So i’m never going to stop holding my own people accountable for just how BADLY we’ve fucked up in ways great and small because it still hasn’t stopped , likely never will so I won’t.
But yeah.... the tribe here are portrayed as ignorant, mindless dumbasses who blindly follow tradition and a clearly corrupt leader. It’s patronizingly stupid to assume just because a belief system is diffrent than yours a person will belieive anything. Religion CAN make people act stupid, the fact many people are homophobic simply because the bible, a centuries old document written and distrbuted by humans that could of been altered by people with a clear homophobic agenda, says they should be. But there’s the very clear very gross implication here that any god but the christian god is invalid and simplifies wonderful and well thought out myths and beliviefs from various cultures into “well they belivie in da sun god because of the shiny coin”. It’s gross, i’m glad it’s stopped and it’s VERY telling that the closest Ducktales 2017 came to this was the most dangerous game night which while a tad cringe inducing at least showed the tribe it used was clever, disposed the person they mistook for a god after it was clear he wasn’t one , and were wholly sympathetic.
Naturally Conquistadouche orders the tribe to attack Scrooge and it works briefly , though Scrogoe prepares to take on the ENTIRE villiage.. and given this is Scrooge and on this blog we’ve seen him take on an entire town before, and that was a more inexpericed less bastardly scrooge yeah their fucked, and only escape death because the coin falls out of scrooge’s coat when he tries to help donald who naturally injures himself trying to help.
And since as per white dumbass racist logic, the villiagers thought Conquistadipshit was a messenger of the gods because of his coin, they think the same of Scrooge, this causes them to stop and bow instead and protect scrooge when Conquistadumbass tries to attack our heroes. Their given a room for the night naturally.
Conquistadick demands they give him the coin and leave, but Scrooge has none of that: he has no reason to leave and has all the leverage so he instead demands to know wha’ts going on.
Turns out Conquisineart is the decdendant of one of the crew from the ship Scrooge found: their captain rain off with it, leaving two of his men behind, though both had the map to the rest of the treasure and split it: one left for the Arctic, the other stayed and did the whole racist god bit. And somehow despite all the time passing Conquistadoodoohead still has his half and Scrooge aranges a trade for the coin. And why yes their is the obvious problem of “what if Conquistascoobydoo say tells them he’s the true god and attacks scrooge like he ends up doing in the climax”. And Scrooge’s plan.. is to have the plane ready and to run to it, despite Launchpad not being a mechanic and saying as much. Instead of you know... stealing the guy’s coin while he’s asleep or something or just having launchpad, whose bigger and stronger and donald whose not bigger but is also stronger hold the guy while Scrooge steals his sun coin, then simply walks to the plane with the map, the coins and all the leverage. at worst the guy tries to do the same scheme without any coins and as the end of the episode shows, that wouldn’t have worked. He was stupid. Oh and the cherry on  top of this shit sundae is scrooge objects to the guys tyranical rule.. but is okay with letting it keep going if he gets his coin and DOnlad, whose there for the deal, never call shim on it.
We then get a bit of Launchpad being forced off a cliff to ride a giant Condor...
Tumblr media
Look this episode is filled with racisit sterotypes, a generic villian and Scrogoe being awful. I’ll take a fun sequence of Launchpad riding a condor, with Donald providing an assit with his camera  by blinding the beast so Launchpad can ride him properly giving them more leverage now Launchpad is popular. And a deadline to fix things by tommorow.
The next day Launchapd and Donald have defied logic and their own tendency to screw up and fixed the bird, while Scrooge makes the deal.. and naturally it goes EXACTLY how you’d expect and Scrooge runs, though our real heroes get thigns running.
That’s when the people arrive on condors to persue, a fight insues yoru standard hero stuff.. not bad but given the racist context I can’t really enjoy it like Launchpad flying a condor.. which had some mild racisim in them making him do that as a ritual clearly deisgned to kill him but i’llt ake mild over pretty damn obvious. Eventually douchebag looses his coins, his ctizens abndon him. Happy end.
So with the map Scrooge decides to do the logical thing.... have launchpad drop him in the middle of the ocean in a raft and steer there
Tumblr media
Launchpad takes Donald home in time and his superior is mad he dosen’t give him a proper salute.. even though he CLEARLY just got home and is diisorented from a crash. Launchpad makes a quip and this episode mercifully ends.
Final Thoughts:
This episode starts out okay.. but quickly goes downhill fast and steep. There are massive bits of racisim, massive leaps in logic, and massive amoutns of scrooge being a dick.. not his WORST in this series but it’s still bad. It’s just not very good. It’s the second worst episode of Ducktales i’ve seen, only held up by my boys Donald and Launchpad. This was miserable.
Next Time on Treasure of the Golden Suns: Our heroes head to the arctic for another offensive episode to rescue scrooge from his own stupidity.  Next Time on this Blog: We return to Green Eggs and Ham and hop on a train as our raging bitchcanoe mother and daughter duo meat our ambigiouslyg ay duo at last.
See you at the next rainbow.

Escape From The Impossibin!: An Exercise Of Trust & Hope.
Tumblr media
So, I was predicting for this episode to have Della & Louie bonding time together, which there were cool moments with them to be sure. However, what I really liked about today’s story was how it focused on the aftermath of FOWL’s reveal to still be very much alive to Scrooge’s horror and Beakly’s greatly underlying concern. A couple of days ago before Impossibin premiered today, I chatted with some others on Discord about what this episode’s story would explore for its overall message, which the more I thought about, the more I leaned on the idea it would be centered around the notion of trust. Let’s Get Dangerous had a consistent theme of deceitful liars being revealed who weren’t whom they appeared to be, as seen with Taurus Bulba vs Drake Mallard & Bradford’s true nature being known to Scrooge at that hour special’s ending.
Escape From The Impossibin is all about confronting the growing tension that’s become a threat to a content family lineage of adventurers, who now have to defend everything they stand for in their legacy, once again. That’s something I’ve always appreciated about DuckTales is even when it doesn’t entirely match my predictions, it finds other new ways to surprise me for what it can do. Della & Louie didn’t necessarily get the bonding time I had hoped for, which did admittedly disappoint me, but they did a serve a purpose in their own right that I’ll get to later. Anyways, the spotlight is on the older mentor figures, Scrooge McDuck and Bentina Beakly, who are all too familiar in dealing with FOWL’s antagonism before in Season 1′s episode, The Confidential Case Files Of Agent 22, that especially applies to Beakly’s past in fighting them as an agent of SHUSH for very much longer compared to Scrooge. With how much is at stake you’d very much expect there to be old feelings being drudged up, regarding Scrooge’s trust and respect for Bradford, as well as Beakly’s strict over protective nature with Webby to keep her safe from losing that optimism that makes her stand out as a beacon of hope to inspire others, which they do. FOWL isn’t like Magica or Lunaris who want to make themselves known flat out to the world with their egos. They’re very cunning and cold blooded with going about executing their plans for control of the Earth. Particularly, Bradford is the serious threat most of all because he’s the brains of this outfit giving precision in each order to those under his command. Combine Bradford’s knowledge with the muscle of Steelbeak, Rockerduck’s underhanded scheming, Gandra Dee’s scientific intellect, Black Heron’s lust for more power, and Phantom Blot’s ability to absorb all kinds of magic that gives the McDucks’ a severe scenario they’ve never faced. FOWL is the right combination to put an end to Scrooge’s adventuring because Bradford has kept a close eye on him for so many years. Bradford has seen plenty of Scrooge at his total best and worst most of all. He’s studied upon every detail of Scrooge’s life, for who knows how many years, and is finally putting all of it to use against him, where we get to see the extent of just how well Bradford can read every one of his moves. Lunaris’ intellect was simply a figurative puddle compared to what Bradford managed to accomplish with his high IQ.
The scary thing is Scrooge knows this reality himself, too.
Tumblr media
That’s one of my favorite elements of Impossibin’s purpose. We get to see Scrooge seriously doubt his abilities. In episodes, like The Most Dangerous Game Night and The 87 Cents Solution, Scrooge has always prided himself in being a very sharp individual who could see every angle and any detail that others couldn’t. Bradford, on the other hand, rivals Scrooge’s thinking that puts an eerie perspective on things for the old man. Scrooge always thought to be one step ahead of the game, but then realizes that someone who’s been by his side for so very long played him like a fiddle all those years. Who’s to say Scrooge isn’t probably thinking back on stuff such as Bradford shutting down his rescue operation for Della, controlling his money usage, letting Louie hang around Bradford in The Richest Duck In The World, finalizing Gyro’s inventions, etc? Scrooge realizes he’s had a dangerous character around the family manor all those years, which makes him doubt his ability to trust himself in protecting everything that he holds importantly in life. Scrooge isn’t just thinking he’s been fooled, he’s doubting every aspect of what made him competent to begin with. Doesn’t help among this moment of self reflection Bradford is there to further rub in that harsh reality of how much he knows about Scrooge.
Tumblr media
This moment gave me chills because it completely put a spin upon the story’s concept. I figured that FOWL would hack Scrooge’s security system, with help from Gandra Dee’s abilities, and I’m glad it went this route, since it shows how dangerous things are this time. They’re not even safe within the confines of their own manor anymore, considering Bradford knows every nook and cranny of it. Scrooge thought only he knew the security system’s password, given its based on the amount of all money in his money bin, but Bradford covered that crucial detail, too. Bradford isn’t leaving any loose ends toward Scrooge in how he’ll go about using any little thing against him for future reference. That’s what makes the stakes higher here than compared to Lunaris’ invasion. This is a much more personal story between a clash of ideals with Adventuring vs Control. Lunaris lacked that emotional connection here Bradford is making Scrooge have to face that adds another layer of tension to this situation. Bradford wants Scrooge to know, “I have control over you. There is nothing you know that I’ve already figured out about yourself.”, and going about hacking the robotic version of himself is the best way to send home that message to him. It can also be interpreted as symbolism for Scrooge fighting his own insecurities when Bradford takes control of the robot to start attacking.
Tumblr media
I need you, the two most cunning individuals I know, to spot any weaknesses.
Now, Della & Louie did serve a big purpose, despite the Plot A point focusing greatly on Scrooge’s existential dilemma, for they were there to remind Scrooge of just how much of an impact his life style has had on them. Della & Louie’s teamwork together throughout the episode is a perfect way to give Scrooge a reality check reminder for how skilled they are as adventurous fighters against unknown dangers. After all, Scrooge passed on his skills to Della, who’d later pass down her intellectual skills to him, too. Again, tying into the whole theme of legacy and what not about how much family can bring out the best in each other. If it wasn’t for what Scrooge had taught them, then he wouldn’t have been saved by Louie’s defining act of being a badass, by willingly diving into the pile of money, which got hit by a gravity changing rosa rune from the robot and ended up crushing it. I wanted to see more mature Louie, so him lifting Scrooge up about how much pride he has in the family lineage was a great nod to it. That in turn, allowed Scrooge to remember why he and their family are strong together. You know, after recent events that have happened in my life, seeing legacy be explored in DuckTales Season 3 means a lot to me now more than ever.
Tumblr media
As for Beakly’s B Plot, in terms of how it ties into a neat bow with Scrooge’s story, shows how intense she’s getting at the notion of eventually facing FOWL again. Honestly, I’m not surprised if she’s getting flashbacks of whatever painful or traumatic events happened to her in those Agent 22 days. I mean, for God’s sake, she tells Webby to straight up incapacitate Huey, who was already so scared. Something Webby refuses to agree with as the best course of training methods to better prepare against the greater threat. Beakly’s characterization has always fascinated me with how well she guards her vulnerability, kind of like Goldie in a way, but the difference here is outta great concern for others rather than herself. My mind can’t stop thinking about this scene, as there could most likely be underlying context for why Beakly is getting so worked up over this training. It seems Beakly is carrying a tremendous weight on her shoulders, probably some heavy angst, that it looks like she wants to say, but can’t because of bigger story reasons we’ll find out later in Season 3′s final batch of episodes. Special mention to Donald Duck putting his foot down on Beakly’s very intense training session. Donald knows the trials and errors of what it means to be a parent. He was once very overly protective of Huey, Dewey, and Louie, but learned to let them experience the world for what it is and not hold them back, so I liked how it ties into Beakly’s dilemma of trying to protect Webby from FOWL’s heartless nature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beakly’s plot may have not gotten much focus, but it did a very good job setting up more angst to come between her and Webby’s relationship. Things are gonna get very complicated between them when more things come to light. I’m keeping an eye on Huey’s line specifically. When he said, “The one thing we know for sure is that we trust each other, right?”, Beakly did want to bring herself to apologize of course, but I also think she was close to wanting to confess something else to Webby, too. I’m expecting this moment to be called back to when stuff hits the fan with Beakly’s past and whatever Webby’s origins are.
Tumblr media
Escape From the Impossibin may have unsettling stuff lurking around the corner with how FOWL managed to distract them with the security system, so they could steal away every missing mystery the family has found so far, but there’s a glimmer of light in all of that darkness. A light that is a reminder of what makes the McDuck family an unstoppable force of trust, hope, and most importantly love. Frank said that things were gonna start going into overdrive with FOWL’s battle against McDuck and he wasn’t kidding around. I’m so overjoyed were getting more episodes in November after this episode finished because that would’ve been a painful wait. Season 3 is gonna start giving things it built up a big pay off and I’m totally here for that!

This may be a day late, but I had to do homework so I'm doing it now
DuckTales s3e10
HALLOWEEN! FUCK YEAH!
'not grim tramatizing times' y'know, he's got a point
Mm. I do not like puppets.
Oh no. Now what's up with LP
*GASP* CHILD LAUNCHPAD! CHILD LAUNCHPAD! CHILD LAUNCHPAD!!! I LOVE HIM!!
Hold up. Launchpad takes ballet classes!
Also. The reason Launchpad has such a skewed image of this holiday is because of exactly one tramatizing event that he understood wrong when he was a child... understandable and also big oof
...😑how many houses has Scrooge broken into because they didn't do trick or treating?
Also, Launchpad be careful! He's Old! His bones are brittle!
'half-baked scheme'... should I be paying as much attention to that as I am??
Oh. Usually when this happens the characters are all like ' we don't know what side that is' but they lived on a boat most of their lives and Webby knows everything so they're going to know what side Dewey's talking about. And Dewey was panicking so he said the wrong side-and I'm explaining this too much. Good joke is great because of long reasons. CONTINUE!
...what.
Funny thing. The first time I watched this I didn't notice they were actual monsters and just thought they were actors 'till Webby said something. It just goes to show that I am dumb as hell and it's a good thing that this show uses show and tell sometimes because if not me and some kids out there would probably be really out of the loop for a lot longer than we already were...
... Launchpad just knocked out Scrooge hulk style. Ouch
Donald's too good for this world
...
So is Scrooge just going to be knocked out in the bag for the rest of the episode or-oh ok then.
It's the movies. We're scared of those things because Hollywood made them more scarry
Oh. Oh that entire scene was precious
'usually they fed on children! oh..' OOF
Oh my fucking god, Launchpad...I love him a lot, but sometimes he's tiering.
Wow. What a buncha wimps. (I'd probably run too)
' AH Creepy Twins!' 🤣🤣🤣 THIS IS THE BEST WAY THIS TROPE HAS BEEN USED EVER!! I LOVE IT!🤣
HEY! Rude!!!
'Oh, hey Launchpad😀' the last thing you hear before you die
Oh no, he thinks Dewey's dead again
*sigh* jesus christ Scrooge...😑
(man I'm tired.)
Wow. That was one flimsy candy wrapper.
*sigh* Launchpad. No.
Why do I feel braindead? I feel like I'm out of the loop again.
WEBBY SAID UNCLE SCROOGE! That always makes me happy to hear
I am very surprised by Scrooge, full free bars-oh he's charging. That explains why he's letting this happen.
YES! We got another one on our side, boys! Everyone loves Halloween or else!
I was going to write how that ending pan and fade made me feel extremely uneasy and very worried for Huey, but then I found out it's apparently a ref to The Shinning...that honestly does not help with my extreme worries for the future of the boi
All I have to say is, I'm just getting more and more worried for Huey and literally everyone this season. We know what's lurking, but the family hasn't caught a hint yet and with every episode it just gets more and more foreboding to me. This season might get to me. I am not ready for what F.O.W.L and the crew might have in mind.
...but I am excited to finally see a Gosalyn one of these episodes.

The Lunar Battle
Okay! I’m skipping the other episode to go straight into what I thought about Moonvasion. Oh my gosh....there is SO MUCH to talk about! First of all, am I the only one who thought that the part with the newscaster was pretty funny? Poor Carl was right! LOL Also.. Scottish Music!
Also Webby: NERP! pfffttttt.
I love Scrooge’s speech to the help they gathered. I love that they gathered everyone good from the past episodes to become the army of sorts! So many characters! But it felt like they all got equal screen time especially during the fight scene! Seeing Lena fight was so awesome too! I loved seeing her magic and it was so cool to see her and Violet fighting for them! XD Also with Gizmoduck and the pies and harpies..classic! I enjoyed it and the animation was so fluid and smooth. Quackfasters attack was by far the most amusing and the animation on it was just awesome! They also showed blood when Beakley got hurt! Not a lot of animated kids shows really do that. I legit went “BEAKLEY!” when it happened and was like OMG no let them be okay! Dewey Ex machina!!! XD and yes Dewey Webby will be there to save you, always LOL I love that Dewey believes he can save the world. I knew Dewey would want to become one! “Who am I?”
“Darkwing Duck!”
“Alright!”
I was kind of let down by Lunaris plan. It seems so.....80s XD Have the earth revolve around the moon? Pfffttt. Serious yet not. Lunaris to me at that point seemed a bit of a two bit villain. Granted, he had done really well until that point and yes I shouldn’t have expected something more logical. It does make sense to his character. He hates the earth and probably has some kind of complex to where he hates that the moon revolves around the earth. So it is a logical scheme. But in the previous episodes he had focused more on Scrooge McDuck and his family. Then the moonlanders gave up on searching for them when Della and the kids landed on the island. Its like, Oh okay this was not what I was expecting. I mean it wasn’t horrible.
Honestly I loved the scene with Donald and Della meeting on the island with the watermelon mickey head XDDDD That was my moms favorite part! “Has the melon been a thing the time I’ve been gone or....”
“No that’s new.” Della and Donald meeting for the first time was almost everything I thought it would be. Personally I thought they would meet in a rather dangerous situation. Possibly with a swirling portal behind them? (too much Gravity Falls there! XDD) Then tearfully hug each other before yelling at each other with the “Where have you been?!” This was way more amusing though with the mickey head. I hope they sell those plushies now.. Watermelon mickey heads.. I’d buy one! Also watching Scrooge fail to come up with a plan was pretty sad to see. Beakley’s line was hilarious.
“Not reassuring he went down instead of up.” Probably my favorite line of the episode. Seeing Glomgold become a good guy trying to help them is weird and yet very amusing. The fact that Scrooge goes with it shows how desperate he is. Oh man, I mean the logic is there.. Lunaris won’t be expecting a really dumb scheme and somehow they are hoping it works. Although Scrooge doesn’t hold out much hope.
“I’m gonna miss being a planet.”
With Della also realizing that this was the moon all over again, the next scene is Louie and Della, trying to reconnect again. It’s really interesting to see Louie trying to comfort Della. Despite how scared Louie is, he reminds her that bad things happen and you can’t always plan for it. And I really connected to both of them in that aspect. It’s a important lesson to note. One I didn’t learn until much later in life. Things don’t always go as planned. Your world falls apart...Sometimes you just have to roll with it and even though there are bad things that happen.. good surprises, good things happen to. Learning that Donald sang the Moon theme to the kids every night was so amazing! I had hoped that was canon! It was! Although...Donald singing it.. it kind of makes me cringe to imagine it. Still awesome though! XDD That part alone was what made this part of the story okay with me. They needed that moment. This arc was about Louie and this gave closure to the Della and Louie part for me. Yes, they didn’t go into more detail and it felt like the entire problems these two had with each other seemed rushed. But, this was the ending of that.....that I expected. This is how I wanted that arc to end in a sense. So I was okay with it. Louie will still scheme and Della won’t always be okay with it. But now that she knows this is who Louie is, she can try to steer him in the right path away from hopefully the real danger. “Oh man am I the Uncle Donald?” Dewey sad to say... yes...yes you are in that pose configuration XD Thanks Frank for that nod to the fans! The animation in the scene where Scrooge has to be forced to wear the santa costume was so cool. As Scrooge angrily grabbed the costume. I loved it! “None of this makes any sense!” I’m with ya there Lunaris...lol Watching the ship be destroyed by all this randomness was amusing.
I think the space battle was so cool and loved the animation and Penny coming in at the last minute to save everyone really made me jump a bit in joy. I was so worried that she died in that moment. But to see her slam into the ship I was like YES SHE’S OKAY. Also Karma...Lunaris you jerk your a moon, deal with it XD Okay, now onto what I REALLY wanna talk about. Holy F.O.W.L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG! I was not expecting that. I should have.. but wtf?! Seeing all these returning and new villains made my mouth drop open and go. Season 3...what will you do to me? Now.. logic dictates that Season 3 is Huey’s season. But to me.. Fowl seems more like Webby’s enemy more than Huey’s. We still know little to nothing about Webby’s past and no one has hinted about it much. But Webby confronted Black Heron and Scrooge is close to the Vulture brothers. Oddly enough too.. on that picture something really bothers me. Webby is hugging Scrooge and the boys and Della and Donald and a few others are looking down at Scrooge and Webby. Now Darkwing isnt, and a few others aren’t as well. Maybe I’m looking too much into the picture but that’s just odd that it seems more focused on those two vs Huey if it is Huey’s season. I know for sure Heron would want her revenge on Webby. But I can’t help but feel Fowl is more closely tied to Webby and Beakley than any of the others. Huey could definitely unravel the mystery of FOWL no questions on that. It could become something he obsesses over a bit. But I think Webby would team up with him and be the fists if needed to fight the baddies. Who knows, maybe we will learn more about Webby’s past. They sadly haven’t revealed a season 4 announcement which does worry me that we won’t get a “Webby Season” in a sense and that they may try to cram it in at the end of season three? I’m not sure and it does worry me. I’d like these questions answered before the series is cancelled for good :( I HAVE HOPE THOUGH! HOPE will keep it alive! I also have like 3 new fanfic ideas in my head that won’t go away.
BUT AHHHHH!! That last scene made me shake my computer and go “THAT’S IT?!” I sort am dreading and excited for season 3!!! Now we have enemies in FOWL and I can see this being a very challenging season for our favorite Duck family!!

What’s So Great About Dewey?
A Dewey Duck Character Analysis and Appreciation Post
Part 2 (there’s so much to say about this duck) - Dewey and Louie.
(Part 1 here)
In the last post we looked a little at Dewey’s perceptions of Huey and their relationship with particular reference to Dewey’s A+ talkshow in Day of the Only Child. Now let’s have a little look at how he plays Louie.
Tumblr media
When Dewey introduced Robot “Huey” it was as his “former bro” but he has “Louie” introduce himself. This is probably pretty accurate to how Louie would act: it's difficult to imagine the quick talker of the group not introducing himself. In fact the whole thing is fairly accurate, and while Robot “Huey” is mocking, Dewey's treatment of Louie is far less mean.
After introducing "Louie", Dewey quickly has Robot “Huey" threatening “Louie”. Dewey stops the robot prompting this:
Dewey as Louie: "Thanks Dewey, you're my hero."
Dewey as himself: “Stop!”
Dewey as Louie: “You’re no anonymous middle child, you’re the unique glue that holds us brothers together.”
Tumblr media
“Comedy, action and heart. Who wouldn’t want to watch this show?” Well said Dewey.
Dewey is adventurous, we see that from him getting mad at Scrooge for putting him in the backseat right through to him becoming the Pirate Captain. But as well as a general love for adventure and the spotlight, Dewey also really wants Louie to look up to him.  He wants to be Louie’s hero.
A lot of younger siblings look up to and idolise their older siblings but while Louie clearly loves his family he is often not especially forthcoming in showing this. Dewey might be insecure about what Louie thinks of him, especially in comparison to Huey. It was Huey who hugged a scared Louie, Huey who a scared Louie hid behind. Huey, Dewey might therefore extrapolate, who is currently Louie’s hero.
Here is one of Dewey's plans which involved bashing the door handle with a bag of marbles to get out of the room they've been locked in. Compare and contrast the first image where Dewey announces he knows "just how to do it" in response to Louie asking if they'll be ditching the room, and second image where it worked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the first image both Huey and Louie look pleased/excited at Dewey taking the lead and getting them out, which is Dewey's ideal for how he wants them to see him. In the second, they both look bored, unimpressed even, though Dewey has just gotten them out. Louie says (dryly):
"Can't believe that was your best plan."
To be fair to the two of them, they'd probably been sitting there watching Dewey whack the door handle for a fair while, and they cheer up pretty quickly at the prospect of "touch[ing] some expensive stuff". But incidents like this may further push Dewey's desire to be the hero, be the one with the plan, to show Huey he is self-reliant and give Louie someone to look up to.
Not only that but, in comparison to Dewey and Louie, Huey and Louie, spend a fair amount of time together on screen and off. This is particularly noticeable in the first episode. They are introduced together:
Tumblr media
Fight Glomgold's employees/assassins together:
Tumblr media
Are seen playing with Scrooge and Webby at the end of the first episode together, while Dewey watches on:
Tumblr media
This trend continues into later episodes. The Spear of Selene! is an obvious one that might spring to mind but they also get time together in other episodes, for instant chatting on the plane and in the town in The Impossible Summit of Mount Neverrest!.
Compare this to the time Dewey spends with his brothers, particularly on screen moments. He has many moments with Huey, but it is far rarer that Dewey and Louie interact without the eldest triplet.
One notable moment they do spend together is when Louie is conning Dewey into doing laundry at the beginning of The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck!. Look at Dewey's face when Louie says "Winning the world record in literally anything is your dream, and I will always be there to support that dream with piles of dirty clothes."
Tumblr media
Now if Dewey had stopped to think for even a fraction of second he would have figured out what Louie is up because, well, Louie. But Louie has tapped into to Dewey's desire for fame, glory and recognition (probably knowing our little con artist with full awareness of what he was doing).
But what Louie is also tapping into is Dewey's desire to have Louie's attention. That face isn't a face of someone contemplating piles of dirty clothing, but the face of someone reacting to their usually cool and slightly aloof younger sibling offering unending support.
Dewey probably doesn't think he has Huey's support: Dewey's the "the crazy, irresponsible, fun guy" in Huey's eyes. No wonder having the kid brother he wants to look up to him offer to help out with Dewey's crazy scheme to get a world record switches off Dewey’s common sense.
And no wonder Dewey is so cold towards Louie after he realises what Louie did. Yeah he's probably also mad about the fact he had to do a ton of washing for no real reason, but the more hurtful thing is that he then realises Louie's offer of support wasn't particularly genuine.
The image below is just after Dewey tells Louie he knows about the laundry. His posture and expression show anger but it's also reminiscent of someone is upset as well as angry, and trying to hide it.
Tumblr media
On a meta level the differences between the amount of interaction between Huey and Dewey, and Huey and Louie vs Dewey and Louie may just be a result of having to balance Dewey being the audience POV for the mystery of the disappearance of Della, with having the triplets interact with each other and the other members of the family.
On a non-meta level, a lot of the time Huey and Louie spend together, on-screen or off, is often a result of Dewey taking himself away from them either through impulsiveness or spotlight stealing (running ahead in Woo-oo!/being the one to dive into the money bin in Jaw$! Etc.) or because he is trying to look into the disappearance of his mom. In other words the times Dewey is trying to stand out, be heroic or feel special.
Dewey is conflicted: he wants to prove himself to his brothers and to do that he tries to stand out and do daring things. But in doing that he is pulling away from them: sometimes only in a minor way such as running off ahead, and sometimes in a major way where the consequences can be more damaging.
And we're back at the scene from Castle McDuck when Huey and Louie finally find out the truth.
We’ll cover that in part three as well as (depending on how long that post takes) some of the best things about Dewey.
Part 3 here

toddy, what do you think of donald and scrooge relationship in this episode???
oh anon, you just asked THAT question to my overanalyzing ass lmao thank u so much, i will indulge in this without restrictions ggg
little summary of donald and scrooge’s relationship in the episode: #TeamUncleForTheWin2k18 in a—more literal sense than expected. this gonna  be a looooooooooooooooooooong post anon, so hold yourself. and take into account that this is my opinion and my interpretation so i could be right or wrong, we just dont know, so that :D
all those scrooge and donald’s bonding moments were wholesome and funny (i loved them with all my freaking heart is2g they having a better relationship is my fuel to keep living lmao) but there is still some things that are hanging on even after scrooge definition of family that is obviously about them so lets start
1. scrooge choosing donald immediately and ‘i was in the will?’ moment
Tumblr media
after going awwww when scrooge excitedly goes around screaming game night and he immediately chooses donald and laughing my ass off because donald’s ‘i was in the will?’ line, all that got me thinking because i cant stop my overanalyzing ass lmao. why did scrooge choose donald and why was donald surprised to be in the will? the overcompetitive nature of scrooge answered the first one really fast, scrooge chose him, as always, because it benefits him for reasons, reinforced by the threat of them losing and removing him of the will, more than because he wanted them to bond over board games. this is actually not that weird for scrooge, he usually does this a lot, especially to donald. i actually have problems with this more because of the actual status of their relationship more than because scrooge did this, this will be explained with the next point so i will go with my second question.
why was donald surprised? there are two possible answers for this: 1. donald didnt ever really thought about the will matter, the theme is new to him so hes surprised 2. donald didn’t think scrooge cared enough for him to be in the will so hes surprised when he actually is. i will be expanding in the second one because donald could have thought various things from this:
1. he could have thought that because of scrooge’s greedy nature, the possibility of him having a will was nonexisting, he wouldn’t want his fortune to be someone else’s even after death, even when real scrooge would consider that a waste, the possibility of anyone being in scrooge’s will is a big ‘wait what’ to him 2. his board is the one getting everything lmao theyre the ones handling all those business stuff and that whats matter to scrooge, so why would anyone else be in the will? 3. if someone from the family was meant to be scrooge’s heir, it wouldnt be him, it would be only della, the twin that scrooge favored the most. definitely not him, the twin that scrooge reprimanded and dismissed the most. him? in the will? wtf? scrooge couldn’t care enough about him to put him in the will. but he does and whoa, wait what i am???? donald didn’t think scrooge would care, and that makes sense, this scrooge is terrible at really showing donald he cares about him outside from fighting and using him as bait. so, donald is surprised.
the good thing is, i actually see this version of scrooge having everyone in his will: the twins, the triplets (especially louie, hes probably his principal heir at this point lmao), webby, mrs beakley, launchpad, matilda (if shes alive), his parents (who are kind of immortal now?) even gladstone, fethry or grandma duck (if shes alive). leaving them all a special thing that would help them in some way, something with meaning for every person. especially to the twins, who are like his children. another good thing, scrooge is starting to show donald that he cares, enough to put him in the will and i hope this progress in scrooge showing him that he cares about him more than he actually shows him.
bonus: scrooge running stairs down with donald was precious and funny. 10/10. not bad, scrooge was just so excited. so cute.
2. ‘that’s why he chose him’, charades and non-verbal communication, understanding donald, and acting nonsensical moment.
Tumblr media
‘ooooh, thats why he picked donald’, dewey just confirmed my suspicions about scrooge’s motivation for choosing donald, it saddens me but i expected it. again, not because scrooge did this because of his competitive strike but because he hasnt show donald that he would choose him even if he couldnt get something out of it. i want more scrooge respecting donald for who he is more than for what he can get out of him. i need scrooge choosing donald because he is family too cuz almost all the time he only chooses him for benefits. like overall, scrooge probably plays favoritism with the twins over anyone else in the family, but with the twins themselves? he favors della over donald, in an over ridiculous open way, he is really not trying to hide it. like, he recriminates donald for not being like della in the ‘17 comics? how fucked up is that? i try not to use the comics’ standpoint of their relationship because it upsets me honestly, they glorified della too much and abused donald too much. maybe because theyre from scrooge’s view of point? hes always going around talking about how great della was but donald? the series at least says that donald is actually freaking good, strong, smart and sharp and deserves the fandom getting over the top for him. the comics well….u know. but the thing is, the comics actually explain why donald is so surprised every time scrooge shows him affection or why donald looks not surprised when scrooge just uses him as a decoy, like bruh :/
‘you spent thirty years guessing what donald was saying, you must get good enough at non-verbal communication’ donald and scrooge are, not-so-surprisingly, good at charades (della must be too, now that i think about it, if scrooge and donald are almost unstoppable then the twins are really hardcore about it), this comes from donald having a speech impediment, something that probably led him to use a lot of non-verbal communication in the past. kids with especially difficult speech impediments to deal with rely heavily on non-verbal communication, usually because they develop social anxiety, insecurities and are overall scared of not being understood and being punished for it, especially outside of their safe circle (bullying, indifference, little to none social circle). baby donald probably suffered from this (who am i kidding, he definitely suffered from it, hell, donald is the most suffering classical disney character honestly the old comics are not even subtle about him being mentally ill and disabled), these kids can even stop altogether talking even to the ppl they know can understand them. all this comes into play if we assume that scrooge hanged with the twins since they were kids. hortense or not, grandma duck or not, scrooge spent time with the twins like he spends it now with the triplets. donald is not the most confident person, since he was a kid, for a good reason, he probably didn’t talk a lot as a kid with ppl outside his safe circle, scrooge comes to play later into his life so hes probably an outsider at the start of their relationship. but adventure needs communication for teamwork and to keep kids safe out there you need to be able to understand them and they need to understand you. this left scrooge with only an option: learn to understand donald, no matter what method he uses. charades? scrooge understands. ASL? scrooge understands. unintelligible gibberish? SCROOGE UNDERSTANDS! wow, hello, lost confidence.
that probably boosted donald’s confidence quite greatly. an outsider, uncle scrooge that is grumpy and kind of asocial, gave the effort to understand little scared and unintelligible donald that probably only his twin and parents until now could understand perfectly. if that didnt bust his confidence idk what could. points for scrooge for being a great uncle!
for all this, he hasn’t told donald he doesn’t understand him because he does understand him, almost perfectly (like the triplets should do, just saying), he isnt going to have an ‘i dont understad you’ moment…..yet i expect it doesn’t happen or else, im gonna cry, first the triplets who had lived with him all their life? and now scrooge who webby said has spent at least thirty years with him? fucking come on. if della comes back and she doesn’t understand his twin brother perfectly im gonna cry, fucking honestly. donald needs to confidently talk with his speech impediment, excitedly, happy, almost unintelligible but with the confidence that there are ppl out there that do understand him and love him. i expect scrooge and della to be those ppl (not counting the caballeros, uno, storkules, and other family members, who can maybe understand him but arent with him constantly to remind him to not let down his confidence in that matter).
also they fighting nonsensically is the best thing, because they do that a lot, they fight over the most ridiculous things and they act like that sometimes, just pure idiocy over the most unimportant matters is like their default mode is the best. they’re can be so ridiculously petty, i love them.
3. ‘team uncle for the win!’, hug and retreat and lets just shook hands moment
Tumblr media
THEY HUGGED!!!!SO!!!GOOD!!!!! wait no keep hugging what are you doing? show each other how much you care, you need it, you dummies, goddamit and now you’re shaking hands ok why not fucking god
well besides that, ‘team uncle for the win!’ was a beautiful, spontaneous and wholesome moment that i shouldnt overanalyze but i will anyways lmao i have the opinion that scrooge said that spontaneously but can be interpreted in a more literal sense to understand scrooge and donald’s actual status of their relationship. team uncle is literally for the win, it wouldnt exist if it didn’t fulfill that specific function, donald probably knows this team up is more a way for them to win, for scrooge to win. but when against all odds they are successful in jenga (lol) this triggers something in scrooge that genuinely burst him into an affection spring and makes him shout that, it was just a piece, they both know it but its almost the first time they have bonded in years and donald, who is particularly sensitive and reacts a lot to emotions, reacts as well with affection and excitement, and what happens when ppl sync up their emotions spontaneously like that? they are overflowed with it, they need to act on it, emotions are almost impossible to control, they’re unpredictable, quick and extremely powerful driving forces so what obviously happens? THEY HUG!!!! emotions made these two idiots hug, they havent hug in years!!! YEARS!!! and they hug again in years because they were overflowed with genuine affection!!! but like i say, emotions are quick and when they end, its like a slap of realization in the face, they go ‘omg i did that!’ and separate immediately, just to go and cordially shake hands? when emotions are involved, context usually flies out the window, they probably forgot ten years of separation in that instant, but when it ended all those years came back and made it kind of uncomfortable. so their ‘we’re doing this just to win’ attitude comes back.
but it was good! its a good start! i dont know if they showed each other this kind of spontaneous affection but without embarrassment, pre-della disappearing but it. is. GOOD. these two need as much fluff as the triplets and webby get. uncle-nephew/niece relationship is a big thing in the DuckTales universe, and for scrooge and donald to not have as much as the triplets get kills me inside. they need this the most, so i hope this season provides because it started well in that matter, i hope it progresses into unapologetic and genuine affection without embarrassing departings and weird shake hands.
4. helping him get up moment
Tumblr media
completely underrated and wholesome moment, like there are no downs at this moment, its too good, they helping him up? nice. scrooge looking at them mad while protectively holding onto his boy who i remind you is in the will and for consideration, he’s one of his heirs (the other one being definitely della and very probably the triplets)? so nice. beautiful, i love it. mindless fluff this was. 10/10.
5. using donald as a weapon and scrooge’s definition of family.
Tumblr media
like theres a difference between fighting alongside scrooge and being used to fight by scrooge. and here we see it, that even when scrooge is technically using donald, they are actually fighting together, its different from when scrooge just forces donald to danger and fights and you know why? because donald is doing it willingly. he is enjoying himself fighting, donald has shown from time to time that he likes to fight. so when he fights willingly and scrooge joins him, he enjoys himself, he is happy. like, look at his face, donald is into it, this is a duck that likes adventure and fighting, this is different from the gladstone’s episode and the ‘17 comics, where scrooge just pushes donald into things without his consent or knowledge because what? he thinks donald wouldnt understand? that donald is going to say no to protect his family if necessary? goddamit scrooge, if you took the time to let donald trust you and explain things to him, he would do the things you ask him, he is smart and u know it. this is one of the things where i hc the twins to differ, adult della followed scrooge almost blindly into danger, pushed by her own ambition and thirst for adventure, while adult donald, careful donald who was probably in the navy and has seen things and adventure spirit has matured, did not. i dont think scrooge took that as good as he should. scrooge favored della for throwing herself at danger just like that, confidently and recklessly, but would frown at donald, who turned around and asked why, who said no, who said but, who said this doesnt worth losing ourselves, who was again, too careful. so, scrooge decides to push him around, to see if this could trigger something, instead of talking him into it, and we know how hard it can be for scrooge to talk things trough. i dont think scrooge had any malicious intent but he didnt choose the best way into that and well, when you force someone into something they dont want, it doesnt end well. scrooge needs to learn to talk things through. also, scrooge needs to apologize, donald already forgave him but just that its not going to fix ten years of separation and past issues. scrooge needs to put his weight into this relationship too. and this probably starts with scrooge’s definition of family:
“You drive each other crazier than anyone could and still care about each other more than anyone!”
we have seen this particular definition of their relationship play into the old comics a lot, and in some low level in the series. but the thing is and i have pointed it out several times for the whole post, scrooge is not exactly good at showing donald how much he cares about him in the series to the point that it surprises donald when scrooge does show that he cares about him, and it makes sense that donald is surprised by it, scrooge had openly displayed favoritism for della saying how incredible she was but for donald the only thing he has really openly displayed is dismissal, comparisons to his sister and that scrooge usually just uses him to his beneficial. scrooge needs to learn how to show his affection to the twin he has left effectively, we know he cares, but donald doesn’t and for good reason! scrooge, show him your love for real!
in conclusion, their relationship is improving! it still needs time and adjustment and for scrooge to meet donald halfway into the whole forgiving the past stuff. however, they love each other despite everything and i think thats what matters the most :D they can do it! these ducks dont back down! AND…

I’m still not okay
But I can focus a little more on the latest Ducktales 2017 episode. You know the one.
The Sun-Crasher’s precarious state throughout the episode is clearly a metaphor for the emotional state of the seven inside and it’s crash at the end after the triplets blame Scrooge and Scrooge alienates Webby and Beakley is pretty self-explanatory.
Della and Dewey parallels are strong in this episode: they both love adventure but their leeroy-jenkins/ gung-ho attitude for thrills and lack of foresight put their families through pain and worry. Not only that, but it might double as foreshadowing that Dewey would choose adventuring over his family (as seen when they’re begging for him not to risk his life for the mystery only for him to angrily toss away the walkie-takie) and possibly form a rift between them.
I’m worried for Dewey. I am really, really worried for him.
Both parties- Scrooge and Della- are at fault.
Scrooge built the rocket and didn’t bother to tell Donald, the one in the trio who could have reined in either of them. Della chose to steal it for a test drive when it was made clear it wasn’t for the kind of flying she was used to and that it wasn’t even ready yet.
Donald Duck is the only voice of reason between the two and the one the straightest priorities after Della laid the triplets. He must have been deeply frustrated with both of them for their disregard: Scrooge for not telling him about the Spear of Selene, and Della for taking it when she had children she needed to look after. He is also the best parent in the whole damn show- contesting with Beakly- and he deserves so much more than he’s been given.
Now I’m waiting for answers as to why she took it: we’ve already seen both Della and Scrooge thirst for adventure, disregarding their own safety. Was Della doing it for kicks? Did she want one last hurrah before settling down to be a mother? Was she trying to prove to the others- and herself- that she could still adventure even with children? Or did she want to give Huey, Dewey and Louie the stars, like she said?
Either way, I can understand why the triplets turned on Scrooge so fast: he was the closest target for their anger and none of them even thought of speaking badly of their mother- which I can understand. Scrooge didn’t help his case, his anger and pride alienating even Webby (How mother-fucking dare you, DcDuck) and even Duckworth is leaving. Is Launchpad still there or not? It’s not very clear.
But, do you know what my heart didn’t need?
Seeing Scrooge’s efforts to find Della fail as those he sends up astronauts after Della never returning, trying to contact Della while Donald takes the triplets’ eggs away, emptying his money bin and fortune to the point where he was in danger of bankruptcy.
And do you know what my heart also didn’t need?
Seeing Scrooge having to be physically pulled away from the endeavor by his asshole vulture business partners, him ripping apart the photograph in a tearful rage but still keeping the pieces to present day because he probably couldn’t bear to part with one of the only reminders of Della, which also served as a reminder of him building the Spear of Selene in the first place.
And do you know what my heart REALLY DIDN’T NEED?!
Hearing Beakley’s “I hope you’re happy” in Scrooge’s mind and all he can do is  try to hold back his tears, muttering, “I am...”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 18th seems so far away now, with this episode’s emotional fallout. What scares me is that Scrooge is well and truly alone. And Magica is not going to waste this opportunity to strike when her enemy is at his lowest/ weakest point. I’m just glad that they’re not splitting up the two-parter finale ^^;
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go curl up in my sock drawer and sleep for days :’(

Let’s Get Dangerous!: Character Growth Tie In 101.
Tumblr media
I know what it’s like to search for someone that’s missing and I know what it means to have someone believe you.
This was a moment between Dewey & Gosalyn I loved because it shows far this adventurous little guy has progressed in his development. He feels for Gosalyn’s struggle to be listened to and her desperate search for answers of what became of her grandfather. Dewey knows all too well how painful that can be after his search alone for Della alongside Webby. He was so scared of the implications that she did something terrible with potentially betraying her family when stealing the Spear Of Selene, much like how Taurus Bulba tried to make it appear that her gandfather had made a serious oversight with the Ramrod he was covering up with good intent, but was obviously full of crap. Dewey understands better than anyone the solitude of trying to only rely on yourself, instead of looking to others for answers, as seen with how he attempted to hide it from his bros, until Secrets Of Castle McDuck happened. He’s trying to prevent Gosalyn from repeating the same mistakes he did, by trying to carry it all upon her own shoulders when she’s still a kid way in over her head about the massive hurdle it is on her own without any outside help. Gosalyn does finally realize by the end when she starts to panic about taking on Bulba and his gang of classic Darkwing villains. This isn’t another adventurous daydream to live out, akin to how Dewey viewed discovering the secrets about Della Duck’s origins of whatever became of her at first. There are serious stakes and people could get hurt or worse.
*cough The Last Crash Of The Sunchaser cough*
Tumblr media
Gosalyn clicked the pieces together in her mind about how dangerous it was to still search for her grandfather, since the Ramrod’s portal had become far too unstable, by the episode’s hour long conclusion. Hell, another comparison to draw from it is like how Louie had to fix his awful scheme in Timephoon, too. Only difference is Gosalyn didn’t obviously cause this whole dangerous dimensional portal mess, but still. The stakes are still very much there, like how Timephoon did it. If Gosalyn didn’t put aside her own motives, then all of reality in their world would crumble instantly. There’s a lot of great parallels between Gosalyn & Dewey’s arcs having to sacrifice her chance at finding her grandfather for the sake of saving many others lives and those who are now close to her, aka Darkwing & Launchpad.  Dewey had to do the same, in a sense, when he was ready to forgive their decade’s past pain and the grudge he was holding over Scrooge in anger at building the Spear for Della. Gosalyn & Dewey made an emotional sacrifice for the greater good. Gosalyn destroyed the Ramrod to save her new family and all of reality itself, while Dewey had to better cope with the bitterness of McDuck family’s tragic past for them to come together again to be reborn in a symbolic way through a newfound stronger love.
Tumblr media
Their interaction in the pic at top above my post may have been a small moment between them, but I could feel Dewey’s words echoing near the conclusion when Gosalyn swallowed her emotions reluctantly to save everyone else in the process. What really helped sell that dramatic moment was the beautifully dramatic animation, which sent home that punchline of, “ Yeah, she’s about to do something that’s gonna break her heart, but she’ll pull through it, much like how Darkwing Duck always does in his own life struggles.”. I’m getting choked up just taking a better look at the girl’s heartbroken expression of giving up that chance to save her grandfather. It’s giving me flashbacks to when Dewey risked his life to find out that truth about the Spear Of Selene and Della’s morality, since they’re both very dramatic scenes that involve each kid making a pivotal choice. Let’s Get Dangerous reinforces the power of DuckTales character growth and how that can lead into other moments powerful writing to build off it.

Toons for Our Times: Ducktales: They Put a Moonlander on the Earth!
Tumblr media
At Glomglast, Glomgold Glomturns! Flintheart Hero of Earth Glomgold continues riding his wave of good PR from helping save the earth in the manner you’d expect: With  a dangerous attention seeking pr stunt/ferris wheel/half-ased plan to murder scrooge. Naturally Dewey is first in line for it. Meanwhile Webby tries to convince a wound up Penumbra to stay and enjoy earth so she can get a new alien friend who she relates to and her brothers can get a new step mom, while Launchpad is awkward because his coffee with Pennumbra went worse than the one he had with the gas cloud. The Glom Knight Glomturns under the cut.
This one is late for both good reason, I didn’t want to hog the wifi while my nieces were trying to remote school, and not so good I.e.... I entirely forgot an episode was today because I’m not used to the new schedule, as in the past the show’s either aired on saturday like usual for a disney show, or as a cluster of episodes throughout one week, so even if it wasn’t something I was used to, I was tuned to stay in. The new schedule is weird  and my brain is stupid is what i’m saying. Now i’ve covered my butt on with the review! This week focuses on Penumbra, and explains exactly what happened to the Moonlanders after Moonvasion. For Penny at least she’s apparently been living in the McDuck hangar, or somewhere near it, and working on rebuilding one of the bigger ships to get her people home. Della, while not missing the opprotunity to point out now Penny’s the one living in HER garage buliding a rocket home, pitches in and we see things have clearly changed. At least with Della, Penny’s let down her guard and now openly considers her her best friend.. and perhaps more because the romantic tension is so thick here you could cut it with a sword. Granted I may have swords on the brain because of this.
Tumblr media
Which if your not up to date on your x-men comics, is an event where our Uncanny X-Men, now having their own nation of krakoa where all mutants are welcome, which includes apocalypse so he’s on THEIR SIDE in that shot, must fight ten other mutants in a ritual sword duel with some of the strongest swords in the mighty marvel canon, and loosing means the other mutants, many of whom are the CHILDREN of apocalyspe from centuries ago he thought lost, get to invade earth with a demonic horde. And if NONE of that made you curious, let alone want to read that, I just.. don’t get you.
Back to the gays, yeah the ten sword thick sexual tension is broken by the fact that Penumbra reveals she tried SOME earth culture and did get that coffee with Launchpad, with Della baffled.. I mean look at those abs. Though it’s probably less “Launchpad really?” and more “Why not me first? Is he sexier? Dammit he is. “ It went about as well as you’d expect.. with Penny storming out suddenly saying this is terrible and running off. Eh not the worst first date i’ve seen in animation this year. I’ve seen a woman go on a date with a man conjoined to his ex.. and not like their siblings it’s a medical procedure. Because close enough is pretty fucking insane and let’s keep it that way.
But yeah so Penumbra’s not sold on earth and Della’s attempts to get her to go with the kids, get to that in a minute, fall on deaf ears. But the thing is. her people are. When meeting with gibious and zenith, if you don’t remember the married moon couple we saw back in “The Golden Spear”, Penumbra finds out she’s the only one who wants to go home. Her people like it here...the happy couple even got adorable new outfits, a job with Glomgold in Gibbious’ case, and an adorable new dog named good boy. Look at them.
Tumblr media
I would die for either of them. I hope we see Good Boy again. And that the show introduces Bolivar, donald’s dog at some point. Or even his ostrich hortense. I just want the duck to have a pet dammit.
Point is their happy here and while Penny wants to go back to the old routine of them all on the moon and her saving them.. their fine if she wants to go home but.. their staying here. And it’s easy to see WHY they want to: The moon was harsh, filled with monsters and much like us humans right now with earth, they only stayed in their clusterfuck of a home world because they had no way out. It’s probably why Lunaris sold hte invasion so easily: With his pitch they were just taking a nicer world from a bunch of mean asssholes who refused to share it and whose sole representative had seemingly betrayed them. Without any reason to hate the earthlings and, outside of once incident later in the episode, the earthlings accepting them with open arms and forgiveness, why wouldn’t they stay on a nice, sunny world, in a large city willing to house them and give them jobs, with delicious foods and all sorts of fun shit to distract you from the bad parts of living here that the moon lacked.
Penny’s issue is while THEIR lives were miserable.. her’s wasn’t. She was a hero, a super hero really.. I mean she’s dressed like a kree sentry, she protects the helpless and she’s a fearless warrior whose now a fish out of water on a world she never could’ve expected but grows to love. Martian Manhunter, Captain Marvel, the Mar Vell one, Warlock, Adam Warlock and yes their separate characters, Supergirl, not superman because while he is an alien he grew up here.. all aliens who immigrated here and grew to love and protect it and see it as their home. Penny just hasn’t got to the “love and protect it” part yet and while the rest of her people have new purpose, new homes and new lives and still meet once a week to party she finds herself, theri greatest champion an outsider, desperately wanting her old life back but not accepting it’s gone. She can go home but she’d be the one person on a desolate moon clinging to the past.  Penny here honestly reminds me of jasper in steven unvierse future: Both are old soldiers who find their empire gone, their entire way of life uprooted and have no way to cope and desperately hoping things will collapse back to THEIR normal, not realizing the new one isn’t going anywhere and is better for their people. They need to move on but their too proud and too scared to try.
However Penny refuses to admit defeat to her people and that she can’t have “earth fun”, and left with no other choices, decides to take the kids up on their offer after all. To explain that we quickly wrap to the top of the episode, where Webby, bored and having trouble finding anyone, finds Penny and after Penny dosen’t want to hang out finds Dewey and Louie. I assume since their absent this episode, Huey is introducing Violet to Gyro, Fenton and Boyd, Beakly is buying groceries, Donald is courting Daisy and Scrooge.. is trying to get fethry’s hands, feet and head out of pickle jars because he thought they’d preserve him and Donald is busy for once so he’s the only one left to do it.  Louie and Dewey plan on just laying around and biinging old ottoman empires, I can relate, but the news gives them a better option. A GLOMGOLD OPTION. Oh me mow how i’ve missed this big beautiful man. Seriously Glomgold is easily one of the best parts of the reboot and Keith Fergeuson brings an utterly delightful manic glee to the guy any time he shows up to eat the scenery whole. While I get holding back on him since he had an arc last season, it’s still nice to have him back in all his hammy glory.  And naturally being glomgold he has a scheme going: After gifting a rolelrcoaster previously, over water and with sharks because his brand’s nothing if not consistent, he’s now offering the flintferris glomwheel, which is shoddy, dangerous, secretly a plot to kill scrooge, and is very likely to kill a child.. so in other words it’s Glomgold himself roleld into a ferris wheel. Dewey is psyched to go because he let another kid go first for Glomgold’s last PR Stunt/Nightmare and that kid got all the glory and as such is now Dewey’s new nemisis. So after asking his mom “If we can go ride a death wheel so I can get famous’, which of course Della says yes to, our heroes end up taking Penny along.  Launchpad drives and gets his subplot for the episode, being awkard around Penny because the date went bad and not sure if this makes then enimies and avoiding her. He tries going to dewey for help, and while Dewey is out of his element, he does actually give good advice to just talk to her.. Launchpad just takes it while he’s driving because it’s launchpad. Thankfully webby can drive. He spends the rest of hte episode getting into shenanigans before, after helping her with the climax, phrasing, being honest and apologizing. And i’m also covering the plot to get her answer out of the way now: Penny admits he’s fine, thery can be fight buds, he’s a good warrior sh’es just “Not interested in an earth..male” her exact words.
Tumblr media
I mean.. there’s no real subtly here. Even if she’s not into Della, which all evidence suggests is the case, Penumbra is CLEARLY into women. I mean Frank is basically saying as loudly as his mousey overlords will allow “SHE’S GAY FOR DELLA”. Wether this goes anywhere, I dunno. While Lumity started ramping up this year, that property’s not based on Disney’s classic canon and STILL had to fight tooth and claw to make Luz bisexual and her love intrested a girl. Disney won’t even let this show use Mickey and almost didn’t let them use the rescue rangers, the odds are against them.. but I also never thoguht we’d see violet’s gay dads on screen, or so many previously  comics only characters, so frank’s said screw the impossible before. Now probably is no different.
Back to the main plot, and to the return of Glomgold whose great as ever. Glomgold made the moonlanders and some of duckberg think he was soley responsible for saving the world.. how many people besides the non-penny moonlanders think he actually did it is up for debate but he DID genuinely help save the world. Also his scheme to get his company back somehow WORKED despite not being legally binding, as he’s now back in his tower, back to scheming and has an actual assitant instead of a professional career woman he treats like one in a bit that didn’t age all that well even a year later.  Gibious is now Glomgold’s sidekick and in a nice contrast to Owlson instead of being fed up with his crap Gibious, buying into Glomgold’s own ego, lavishes praise on his new boss, treats him like the god he thinks he is, and is genuinely sweet and helpful. It’s a nice dynamic giving Glomgold someone who ACTUALLY and genuinely likes him as a person and wants him to suceed and trusts in his insane schemes and leads to some great bits like Gib genuinely calling the safety inspector when Glomgold makes an airquotes remark about it and at the end Glomgold admitting “I can’t stay mad at you” to his new lackey/Best friend. Frankly Glomgold needed a 21 to his Monarch, and i’ts a delight to see it and Paulson and Ferguson have real chemistry.  Meanwhile in the A-Plot, Webby tries to get Penny to enjoy earth, first with a street performer she tosses in the water ,as you should, then with a shooting range which ends with her massacering a clownhead to the children minus webby’s horror and tears. We were one more frame away from this really.
Tumblr media
Also we get the ducks feeding.. ducks, a gag Frank’s apparently wanted to do for three seasons now, and with Penny being as confused as the audeince. but non of this, including roller skates really works.  So while Dewey goes off to get in line to one up his rival, Webby gets honest with Penny about why she’s so invested and this episode goes from good.. to truly fantastic. While webby fangirling over a mighty and gay space warrior makes sense, there’s a personal reason she wants to help here that really tugs at the heart strings: Webby was like her once. Like Penny she spent her whole life honing herself into a weapon, sealed in her own tiny world, For Penny it was her moon village for Webby it was the mansion. And being thrust out into it was .. frightening. We saw webby struggle to adjust in “Daytrip of Doom!” and part of her wanted to plunge back into the mansion and her saftey net at times. But she didn’t.. with the help of her family, and her friends, she found out just how wonderful the world is and how as scary as the world is.. it opened up new parts of her. Duckberg webby was just as great as mansion webby if not better. So Webby wants to do the same for penny and what really clinches the scene is how she does it: a Hamburger, the symbol from the pilot of what webby was deprived of all her life, given to a new friend as a symbol of what the world offers. And it works at first, even without cheese. But then Penny gets a brain freeze, and Glomgold, needing a distraction from the saftey inspector rames her as going beserk because he’s an asshat in every other way let’s add racisim to it.
A chase insues, Penny’s determined to flee.. but she gets a second wind when Dewey, who rushed in to get the first ride and webby get trapped. Sadly dewey’s new enemy gets all the attention, and as we find out is aware he one upped Dewey and brags over it, but Penny has now gone from fish out of water to shark on the hunt, and with Launchpad’s help to get past Glom and Gib, and the roller skates from earlier finally has some earth fun by skating into the air, climbing the Ferris wheel and saving the kids. Penny FINALLY found something she likes about earth; That she can Still protect people, including her people and do what she loved there and the danger here is WAY more intresting.. I mean on hte moon itw as just the usual monsters she was used to. Here she had to rocket into the air, and climb an megalomainics cannon armed ferris wheel to save two adorable children. In short she’s become a super hero and like those I mentioned, has grown to care about earth. So basically this is like captain marvel was an episode of Steven Universe. I likes it. But it’s a nice character arc, as Penny realizes the outside world, and her new friends/future stepchildren, have b eauty and worth. And she will protect their kind, she will protect them. I mean duckberg already has about 4 other superheroes if you count lena, which with that outfit last time I dooo, but frankly with how much disaster it faces on a daily basis, and how much Fenton needed a goddamn break, and with Darkwing leaving for st canard soon, they could probably use her.
So the day is saved, Glomgold is buired in fines but has a new minon, Dewey is dewfeated and Penny is happy again. We end on Penny recounting everything to Gibious and wife, and Good Boy obviously, along with Della who casually admits she really shoduln’t of let her child go but sooths him anyway over his loss. Penny is happy and deciding to stay, and her and her new best buddy laucnhpad are going to go tear the ship apart with her carrying della along. I swear when they finally do do it she’s just going to.. carry a willing della to her bedroom and throw her down on that thing.. everything after is up to you Id ont’ write porn here. Nothing wrong with it just not my bidness. So with a hopeful new future and a neat t-shirt, Penny finally finds her place in the world.
Final Thoughts: A very good, very gay episode that’s just as good as last weeks and gives penumbra a hell of a character arc, while also being an utterly hilaroius episode, from penumbra’s destruction, to glomgold’s hilarious as always antics to dewey’s attention whoring reaching self endagering heights of stupidity and ego, this was a great one and keeps up Season 3′s quality streak. While the plot progression may be slow for now, everything else is at an alltime goddamn high.
Next week, it’s the HALLOWEEN EPISODE BITCHES. Nuff Said. Until then you can check my blog for more reviews, as we have some halloween stuff coming up. Sadly with Loud House going silent, it seems this is our only weekly coverage but expect more reviews of various shows, and some very spooky ooky ones coming very soon including some brucie bonus episodes and until we meet again, go team venture! Play us out glomgold....

I really like your character analysis of Dewey! Specially the Dewey and Louie relationship, you know even if my favorite BrOTP is Huey-Louie I'd like Louie and Dewey to have an episode focusing on them, how do you think a Dewey-Louie episode will go? I don't know but it's kind of hard to imagine an episode of them playing each other without Huey and/or Webby's presence
Hi! Thanks so much for your message and I’m glad you like the Dewey analysis. I totally agree with you about a Dewey-Louie episode. What I’d really like is a lightepisode that would start off playing out like the start of The Other Bin ofScrooge McDuck!, where Louie is conning Dewey into doing some task for him. Asthe episode plays out it becomes apparent that Dewey is fully away Louie istrying to con him, but is playing Louie for revenge. However Dewey gets toocaught up in his plot, possibly because Louie starts to get scared and Deweythen gets to act as a hero. Then the danger, which up until now has been fakedby Dewey, becomes real probably as a result of Dewey going too far, and theepisode ends with them both having to come together to use their combinedtalents to get out of the situation.
For example we could have theepisode opening with Dewey apparently in the midst of an apparently daringadventure, but then the camera view changes and we see that he’s actuallyjust cleaning up a store room in the mansion. The camera shifts again andwe see Louie leaning casually against a wall, sipping PEP watching Dewey.
Louie makes a comment about how hewishes he could help because Scrooge is going to be so pleased when he sees howtidy the room is, but he’s hurt his wing, or some other very flimsy excuse thatthe audience sees through in a moment.
Dewey has been making notes of what he’s done and he commentsthat Beakley will pay well for the everything that he’s cleaned. Louie, forgetting this is his own con, is blinded by his greed and freaks out at theidea that Dewey might be making more money and the boys engage in somecompetitive cleaning.
Louie knocks over a vase or something else breakable and Dewey, caught up in revenge, tells Louie a story about how the vase is cursed. It’sclear it’s made up, and that Dewey is making up the symptoms along with badthings that start to happen because Louie freaks out.
Louie, normally more savvy, is terrified by the idea of a curseand Dewey is really hamming it up with lots of your luck will be worse thanUncle Donald’s etc. Of course Louie loves Uncle Donald, but he doesn’t want tohave to work hard in life and overcoming back luck is a lot like hard work.
Dewey pretends to have a cure for the curse which has Louiedoing a load of stupid things. One of the things is for Louie to “reverse break a mirror” - read cleaning it.Except this mirror has a bad tempered genie trapped inside it and rubbing itclean releases him. The genie chases the boys around the manor. Both tryseparately to subdue it but their efforts cancel each other out.
Eventually thetwo of them get trapped in a cupboard with the angry genie outside.  Dewey holds the door shut and tries to get Louie to concentrateon finding a way out. But Louie has finally twigged that Dewey has pulled aLouie and was conning him and is distracted.
Louie is annoyed but alsoimpressed and admits he shouldn’t have tried to get Dewey to clean up for him.Dewey admits he probably went too far with the revenge. Louie: You Think!?
The heartfelt moment, already slightly ruined by Louie’s sarcasmis interrupted when the genie manages to break the door down. Dewey finds anold lamp on a shelf and gestures to Louie who starts with the patter about howhe bets the genie can’t fit inside. Dewey plays off Louie with lots of the lastgenie we met could fit in there etc.
The genie gets mad at the two doubting his power and when Louietalks him inside, Dewey slams the lid shut. They write a post it along thelines of do not clean, pop it on the lamp and chuck it back on the shelf.
Asthe episode closes Louie suggests to Dewey that there’s a world record in dustingor something similar that Dewey hasn’t attempted. Dewey looks thrilled, thenrealises. Louie apologies and says its force of habit. He then suggests agenuine world record the two could try and break, probably something stupid andimprobably dangerous.
(The B plot of this episode is another one of Huey’s JuniorWoodchuck Guidebook vs Webby’s imagination debates, this time focusing ongenies. The argument gets quite heated and Webby keeps seeing the genie aroundthe manor (always noticing a second or two too late to see who he’s chasing)but the genie is always gone by the time Huey looks. At the end of the episode,Huey comes across the lamp and thinks Webby has put it there to prove geniesare real. He says something like nothing will happen if I rub this lamp!and proceeds to start cleaning it. The genie emerges and distantly you hear abig NO from Dewey and Louie.)
I mean I’m no Ducktales writer: they could do it much better. But something along these lines. I really liked the compare and contrast scenesof the Infernal Internship of Mark Beaks where Huey and Dewey are doing all thetasks Beaks has set them. This could work for both the competitive cleaning andthe genie chase in this example and show off Dewey and Louie’s differingapproaches to hard work and also to danger. Dewey tries to trap the geniephysically but is , Louie tries to trap it verbally but gets scared once herealises he can’t. Louie needs Dewey to help him physically trap the genie,Dewey needs Louie to do the talking.
And though Dewey doesn’t get to play thesole hero and impress Louie that way, he does get a moment of working withLouie, and he gets Louie’s respect for the reverse con he managed to pull.Louie begins to see that being conned is now always fun. He sort of gets that lessonin The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck!, however ultimately he won against Big Footso that still needs a bit of work.
Anyway this turned out super long, sorry! Thanks so much for the ask and I hope you have a really good day!
