Honest thoughts and theories of Deltarune characters so far.

I won't make any fancy intros, I'll get right to it:

Roaring Knight -

I think Roaring Knight is pretty much in a way confirmed to be Dess Holiday, Knight is left handed, Dess is left handed, those are fairly specific odds especially since Dess is not yet present in the game, Carol gets very angry when someone aside Kris touches Dess's stuff.

If Knight is Dess then: may be a mutated, corrupted dark form that can be powerful enough to kidnap Undyne and then speak on the phone about a sacrifice. Of course, being fully conscious and aware of the actions they do.

Kris -

I think Kris is not only in on it, but somehow, being a puppet of The Roaring Knight. Why do I think that? Well, Kris and the soul are very much the same person no matter what we do, Kris seem to not mind unless it's the secret of the shelter. Kris actually formed a bond with Susie, Ralsei, Noelle willingly, we as a player didn't forced them into it, proof is, if you wait in the wardrobe with Susie and Noelle talking, yellow text does trigger Kris's reaction and not usually in a bad way, occasionally blushing to some reactions, not immediately out of embarrassment, but maybe out of flattery as when you speak of Kris being good at flirting, which undoubtedly is our, the Player's cause, Kris seem to not be angry of it, but talking about their skills also triggers the same reaction AND if we wait long enough, Kris enters a state I would describe as trying to catch a breath as without the soul they are very much dying. In the library we find out that the Soul and Human are connected, but Kris and the Soul had to somehow disconnect from one another forming us, the Soul and separate cold and distanced Kris. (A darker theory is that Kris died and we are the soul of someone else giving Kris life for the price of taking control of their body occasionally, but that I find to not make much sense.) However Kris does act on their own, seeing in Chapter 4 where they simply took a breath, without the need of pulling out the Soul they played the piano the way they can do as, let's be real, next to Kris we suck at piano, but both are actually completing one another in things, we socialize Kris more and give them friends and they well...do anything Kris can do best, be spooky, distanced and play very well on Piano (Okay I know Kris is good at a lot of things, I just thought it'd be funny if I said this XD)

Ralsei -

Ralsei is definitely hiding something, theory has it that Ralsei is the horned headband we still probably carry around or is an embodiment of memory on Asriel who will arrive at the city fairly soon, maybe sooner than we thought!

Prophecy seems to indicate someone's sacrifice, what I think this implies is however that all Dark Worlds need to be sealed and only then the Light World is completely safe from The Roaring.

Noelle/Susie -

Somewhere was apparently an indication of the second protagonist next to Kris to be Noelle, however the evidence is fairly weak, but I shall include it here nonetheless, in a year we will return to this and laugh maybe!

Asgore -

I know Asgore seems fairly innocent, but as I replayed Deltarune I kept noticing that- there's something off about Asgore. Why would Toriel leave him over a FLOWER business?! That makes little to no sense. So I think and most likely some of you too that Asgore has a deeper secret and because he couldn't share it with Toriel, Toriel felt betrayed, like he didn't trust his own wife enough, however I think he again, does bad, but means no harm, has actually pure intentions and is just misunderstood. Poor Asgore in this case is getting again cucked by a funny skeleton. (XD)

Gaster -

Although not appearing as of yet, let's go over the evidence. Dark Darker Yet Darker used to play around The Shelter, "Garbage noise" is the Entry Number 17 and nowadays people point out that a little alignment here and there and The Titan looks eerily like Gaster's face.

My theory of Gaster however: Gaster might be but a Darkner in one of the Chapters, maybe a secret boss with a lot of questions of his own, who knows? People anticipate Gaster so much, I think the game would probably get scorched by the toxic side of the community that wants to see the funny goofy man who speaks in hands.

Importance of previous main bosses of Undertale -

There might be little to no importance of characters like Sans, Papyrus, etc. as the story doesn't include them aside puns and Toby giving in on the Toriel x Sans shtick, however again, I believe this will not become a thing as Toby has a history of this type of humor and it is funny so far, ngl. Again we need to realize that Sans, Papyrus, Alphys, Undyne...their story is already written elsewhere, their personalities, etc. and it makes you feel more for the characters, despite them being less than a background noise which I find genius from Toby's side, however there's still 3 more chapters so...the reality can still be completely flipped, expect the unexpected in this case.

Importance of secret bosses of Deltarune -

Well we seem to have an interaction between Tenna and Spamton, seems that their importance is only going to increase as talks about them...aside probably the Knight as he is not really a secret, but one of if not the MAIN antagonist of the game.

Jevil - Mentioned by Spade King, Seam and many more in the respective chapter Jevil's included and it's getting more frequent as time goes by.

Spamton - Honestly? He was already a big talking point in the Cyber World, he was like Gaster, but debunked, only others didn't saw him often if at all, aside us and then Susie and Ralsei.

Gerson Boom - Thanks to this boss fight we also learned something, plus it gave us a clue. Dark World can, even if temporarily, resurrect the dead. Gerson is but dust in Alvin's office and yet because it's in the church we are able to communicate with him and he seems to be...himself. Which may be a very own plot device for the antagonists to work with, we'll have to find out.

The ritual -

Something is off about this one. Kris studying occultism, Knight spoke of sacrifice and ritual, Undyne kidnapped for it, Asgore's 7 magical looking flowers, Kris's divided soul between now us and Kris themselves instead of JUST Kris. I think they want something else than to bring The Roaring. Why would Carol, Asgore, Undyne, Dess and Kris want to destroy the world? Even if we divide them character by character, Carol has Noelle, Rudy and maybe still Dess somewhere she most likely cares about. Asgore? WELL LOOK AT THE GUY! He's a lovable dude who would probably put his life at risk for his family. Undyne? Why would Undyne want to destroy the world? She's a natural born hero! Dess and Kris? Even in a gothic phase you would chicken out of something like destroying the world over something stupid. Plus they're not little anymore to not have rational thoughts...unless we take in consideration Kris is broken and Dess probably corrupted, but HEY! You don't have that from me!

Are we the villain all along ?

Honestly, possible, I given it a thought, no matter what side we're on, what route we take, we're still most likely controlling someone against their will on many occasions. Weird route? Yeah that one- is weird, but all the more strange to think that the reason Kris was spooking Noelle in the past might be because of the Soul? Hmmm, maybe, maybe not.

What I think with Kris is that there's like- 75% chance Kris is a good person, has noble intentions as even if Noelle's and Kris's friendship was forced, Kris seems to always care about 2 people in his life so far, at least most discussed. Asriel and Dess. The world and Deltarune practically revolves around them and we're like that nervous cousin, getting ready to meet and greet them.

It's possible what's going on is still way too large for us to assume and we'll have to really wait until 2026 for the next Chapter 5 to give us answers so we would get to the bottom of this in Chapter 6 and 7. I don't want Chapter 5 to be some kind of filler, ending on a cliff-hanger, just because it's only a year away, I really hope Chapter 5 will explain a lot if not the most so we could focus on HOW to get a desirable ending than "What comes next after a year or two?" At least some answers would fit as Chapter 3 and 4 explained little and opened MANY more questions than it answered.

What we know so far (?) -

Dark Fountains can be opened if you have a strong will to do so, not anyone can do it, you really need to try is the way Chapter 4 interpreted it.

Spamton's secrets of Mike are more or less fully explained and serve little to no importance. HOWEVER. It brought a theory (not Mike, but Spamton and Tenna). Spamton is unrecognizable to Tenna, it's not just Tenna ignoring him as he wished to see Spamton, but when Spamton shown, he got "frozen" by Tenna who didn't knew him. The phone call that changed Spamton's life for worse is still on the table as it was not with Tenna, Mike or anyone we yet know. Maybe Gaster? Maybe Kris without Soul? Maybe Roaring Knight? Maybe secret boss of one of the upcoming chapters? Time will have to tell.

Seam for a reason he doesn't wish to share betrayed Jevil and sealed him over The Roaring Knight dispute as Seam seems to be a magician, said by the Spade King. Will Seam betray us? Or is he just going to make us that strong weapon?

Shadow Crystals are a part of The Roaring Knight maybe as yes, we got the shard from the chipped sword, however, we also got a shadow crystal. WHAT does it imply? Maybe I'm overthinking this one though.

Dark Fountains are able to bring back memories of OR the dead themselves back to life. I am not implying Ralsei is dead Asriel, but might be a said memory of Asriel the way Kris remembers. Until Asriel comes back from College we know barely anything of that being true or false.

Kris and The Roaring Knight know each other, they secretly communicate, upon no-hit running The Roaring Knight, Kris gestures that they should speed the fight up, seems like in that sense Kris is showing awareness that the Knight is taking it lightly on us as he recognizes Kris. Either a co-operation or something more. Maybe who knows? Grand twist of the said knight being Asriel or Asgore. Reality can be anywhere again as Toby has the cards and we're just waiting for his play here XD

Gaster is not yet HERE FFS, we're in the middle of Deltarune and we still don't have the funni goop man nor Papyrus, but we have one more Dog sequence where we own him at climbing and he fucking dies XDDD

Omori spoilers warning! I've been thinking a lot lately about the similarities between Deltarune and Omori: Thinking about how the games involve a (most likely) depressed teenager Thinking of how they are the only one (well, I guess Basil too), who know what happened to someone dear to them, and everyone else seems to think another truth happened: I don't think Carol knows, since, if we go on your hypothesis that Kris lacked Courage back then, I don't think they would've told her that they couldn't save Dess (self-guilt), nor have they told her in the present day. So the whole scheeming between the two is done out of self-guilt out of Kris' part, rather than sheer manipulation (and Carol just think they are doing this out of kindness). So if I'm right, Kris would be working with Carol and the knight, but Carol and the Knight (if that's Dess) are not working together. Thinking of how they repress this traumatic event: -Sunny by simply pretenting it never happened, or eliminating from his view stuff that reminded him of Mari (like the door leading to the closet with the violon, or the piano in the piano room) -Kris, seemingly hiding something with a tree, a simple, still tree Thinking of how the "trauma itself" is represented by something small, but with something scary on it (as in to not forget). Something is a black, childish looking ghost thing but with an eye near the top, and FRIEND (if that's what it supposed to be) is a black cat-thing, but with a yellow eye and a pink one, and a terrifying smile (and laugh). Also, I'll conclude with something I wanted to share, I think the red "you" when Carol says to Kris that they are always welcome (and the red in general) is destined to Kris, not the player, because: -If the entire point of Carol preventing them access to her room, and not wanting Dess' guitar is against the plan why wanting them in her house? -The only other instance where red was used (unless I forgor) is in Chapter 2, where Toriel called Undyne to tell her that her van's tires where "slashed" (the slashed is in red). In this case, the player wasn't even there and didn't do anything, it was Kris.

I'm sure that there's folks thinking of the parallels between DR and Omori, yeah, since that's been discussed for awhile! The biggest parallel does seem to be that some great tragedy broke up a tightknit friend/family group, that the main character may be involved in that (directly or indirectly), and that a lot of the people involved in it still are trying to deal with the fallout. (I think there may be another parallel to Omori's ending, buuut...that's much more speculative)

However, I am glad that Deltarune seems to be going in a vastly different direction from Omori's take on escapism. In Omori dreams/escapism were a means of trying to cover up the trauma of what happened, but ultimately that escapism was doomed to fail and Sunny had to let it go in order to properly move on. I don't think that's what Deltarune is doing with its take on escapism, and I much prefer that it not go with the "escapism is maladaptive and you have to let go of that in order to grow up and heal" take that Omori has.

Although I do disagree on some things. I get the feeling that Carol does know much more about what happened than she lets on, or otherwise she wouldn't keep Kris tight in on this conspiracy loop she's got going on. And I do think that Carol was talking to the player, not Kris, in that last line. She's got a Thing going on with red heart-shaped objects...they're outside her room and there's a giant pile of them in Dess's closet; she's definitely aware of some things regarding the soul. She stepped in regarding Susie getting the code in the guitar, not Kris. I think as far as she's aware, as long as we're tied to Kris specifically, she's got the player (unintentionally) roped into what she wants to do as well.

Let me give something to ponder...

SPoilers for Deltarune below.

First off... That's not Kris' soul.

The game's intro tells us outright-- That soul is Us, or our avatar. Hell, it acts like the soul from UT--it'll change color depending on the circumstance, its free going. The only thing that's missing is the capacity to Run.

And as we control the soul, we control Kris (erm, for the Most Part). But our Soul can be Removed by Kris.

Kris is not the Soul. They have reactions that aren't our decisions. (I personally theorize that Kris provides us options to choose, both consciously and unconsciously, when we make decisions... Until we do something Fucked Up, then we're on our own).

In which case... Kris should have a soul, presumably a Red Soul (Because if Chara from UT is any indication, those of a certain soul color will be attracted to and attach to, souls of that color).

... Where is it.

And secondly.

How did Kris get their soul replaced by Ours?

Second off.

We made a Vessel. That vessel was "Discarded", but I'd say, that Vessel was discarded as OUR vessel. Meaning it could be still be used. Since its a vessel for a Red Soul...

Whatever or whoever, replaced Kris' Soul with us, had to put that soul somewhere where...

A) it wouldn't Kill Kris in the process B) It wouldn't wander off like ours does

Why not place it in the Discard Vessel?

Third.

We can say that Kris opened two Dark Fountains. One, we know, in our home. The first? In the Computer Lab, the night before.

And yet, it was the Knight, who turned the Queen and Tenna. For the Queen, anyone could've entered that Computer Lab before Berdly and Noelle.

But the third Dark World? It would require the Knight to have already been present in that world, likely in the same way Ralsei is.

That suggests Darkener.

And yet, the Knight can run out of the Dark World, and is strong enough to outdo Undyne herself.

That suggests Lightener.

Suggestion.

What if the Knight, is our Vessel but with Kris' original soul? The Vessel is meant to be our container, after all, for interacting with the world, and we're a very Powerful Soul. That means a very powerful body. That also means, given our nature, being able to transcend light and dark.

Now give it a child's soul that Isn't Us.

Suddenly, we've have a strange knight figure that seems to follow our actions--or rather, follow Kris' actions.

They'd be our literal reflection. The Shadow. The True Self. What we, or rather, who Kris truly is, in the Dark.

Being directed by an outside Force.

Four.

Carol Holiday knows Our Nature. She's likely the mysterious voice on the phone call, directing Kris' actions and is who the Soulless Kris reports to in the Light World...

( After all, why would she come home early? )

... Whilst the Knight would report to her from the Dark. The Knight uses her sword, or something akin to it, found in her bedroom. Made with the same black shard. the Knight's horns resemble hers.

And she is obsessed with collecting heart-shaped objects.

What if...

She discarded our vessel, to make it a vessel for Kris' soul, and replaced Kris' with us? Or at least, maybe helped Kris do it, if Kris had a choice (which implications say, they didn't. Kris' discomfort with Jevil and Spamton and Tenna's Real Game, suggest that Kris knows the story all too well--they wanted freedom, they're being directed by an outside force (from a phone), and in the end, they will be discarded like a vessel.

Five.

Why would she do this?

Initially? Maybe to find Dess.

Maybe to Save Rudy, after all, Gerson shows that one can be resurrected in Darkness after they die.

... But it didn't continue that way. There's another game going on here. Why attack the child of your husband's best friend, and switch out the souls? Did Kris agree, and thus, as the Knight through a different body, is serving faithfully?

( This I doubt. Kris' nature is tricky, but they aren't cruel. Performing cruel and terrible acts greatly disturbs Kris. And a lot of what Soulless Kris does? Is very disturbing. Destroying her mother's car tires? Attempting to destroy Dess' things, an old friend who disappeared, so that we don't catch a peak of a code? the fact that they consume Chocolate and not Kris' favorite food, Pie? )

Or was it a trick? As the only human in town, Kris' human soul is very useful. And as the best childhood friend of Noelle, they're easily accessible.

All it would take is a phone call.

Some Deltarune Theories I Thought Of

These are just some theories I've had. Some of them I believe more than others, but all of them I believed would at least be interesting to bring up. More under the cut!

THE KNIGHT IS KRIS'S KNIFE: Something that came to my mind. I don't think this is actually the case at all, but Kris's Knife has only previously been used for chaos and trouble (stealing the pie Toriel and Susie baked, slashing Toriel's tires, and creating TWO Dark Fountains.) Just an interesting parallel that could be rationalized.

CAROL IS NOT EVIL: Carol is, at the very least, assisting the Knight, and Kris is assisting her in doing so. But now that we know Lightners too know about the Legend (especially the Holidays and Dreemurrs, as they are confirmed to be religious), Carol could be trying to bring the Roaring quicker to ensure the Knight is defeated quicker. Yes this is working off the "The Knight is Dess" theory, possibly with Carol and Kris trying to save her by defeating her as soon as possible. This one I feel is pretty likely.

THE KNIGHT IS A PERFECT FUSION OF LIGHTNER AND DARKNER: We have seen that Darkners can be spawned from dust-covered items and they can resemble dead Lightners. Perhaps, going into this with the idea that Dess is the Knight, she was already fallen down when she entered the Darkness, half-turned to dust, clinging to her bat, and the fusion of her Lightner self and the dead dust coating her bat is what allows the Knight to maintain its form and power. Susie saw the Knight in the Light World, and if she saw them as a Lightner at all, she would have mentioned such and described it like she did with the code in the guitar. Even if it was someone she didn't recognize, she'd be eager to find out who it was and stop them after they took Undyne and tried to take Toriel. Especially if it was Carol, Susie is headstrong enough to at least want to call her out or bring it up to Kris after meeting her in the Holiday house. Also the Titan's face shield looks like the light of a SAVE point and idk I just think that's interesting.

THE LAST PROPHECY IS THE WEIRD ROUTE/SNOWGRAVE: This is by far the one I believe the most. Shayy, in their Weird Route reaction video, brought up an idea that the Weird Route might result in a Chapter 5 Bad Ending, and we all know that the Roaring is near. Hell, we fought a Titan already; it's reasonable to assume it could happen as soon as Chapter 5 if the Knight deems us enough of a threat. The most interesting part of this, though, was the prophecy mentioning the "last girl." It's pretty clear that "the second hero, the girl with hope crossed on her heart" is NOT the girl referred to in the segments "and last was the girl/at last was the girl," and "love finds its way to the girl." Another interesting and important fact is that the prophecies are all in capital letters. This could mean "love" as in a relationship (i.e. Suselle) or "LOVE." "Level Of ViolencE" makes its return. Interestingly enough, in the code, the LV displayed in-game that increases every chapter is called "False LV" with a hidden stat labeled "Level" that appears currently unused. My theory here is that the "last girl" is in fact Noelle, the unwanted bad ending is the girl killing others to become stronger (hence Ralsei "especially not letting it happen" given he already admonished Susie's violence in Ch1) and that is the only way to save the world in the Prophecy. This could also result in the girl's death; we saw that Snowgrave (the spell) already took a lot out of Noelle when it was used the first time. If she were to get even stronger, what could a stronger version of that look like? Something powerful enough to easily kill a Titan, to defeat the Knight?

Might add onto this with later ideas I have, we'll see.

CARING:

stuff from the caring animation short that i noticed.

(So I was rewatching Othertale: Before the Hack (part 1) a few days ago and posting about it, which you can find here, and I was making & taking notes on Othertale Undyne.

I’ll make a post about that soon when I get around to rewatching the Experiment short, so notes from that short and BtH (pt.1) will be in one post.

I may also make separate posts for Othertale Papyrus & Alphys if I can find the motivation. But for now, here’s the notes on the Caring animation short for anyone who is interested.)

1. First off, Core’s piece of advice for Color stood out to me.

“Some care but they lose it by time, and others care but it’ll be dangerous over time. Are you either of them?”

What is that supposed to mean kiddo.

2. Just how long were they standing there before Color noticed? They had to call out bro by name just to snap him out of his dissociative state.

Is that just what he did when Gaster wasn’t around? Just sit there and stare at nothing and escape into his mind.

3. He says while pointing the rainbow beam at them. (Im assuming this is because Core still looks like a Frisk.)

(I also noticed that this is something Color and Ivory have in common. When Ivory was confronted by Gaster after being led into the Void, she summons her weapon and states her intentions clearly—something like “if you come near me/take another step, I will hurt you”—and kept her eye and weapon on her perceived enemy.

Color seems to be doing the same. Before this scene Core tells Color to please but the rainbow beam away because “you will hurt yourself,” to which Color responds that he won’t hurt them.

Seems possibly taken a few ways. One being that Color seems to have developed a very concerning lack of concern for himself while in the Void—not only was it implied that he almost killed himself and shattered trying to escape before (and only survived because of Gaster), but it seems that he’s willing to use one of his most powerful weapons to protect Gaster even if it harms himself, with his fragile body.

The other could be that Gaster kinda made it a habit to point out how fragile Color’s body is, in comparison to his power, and now Color instinctively feels the need to assert that it doesn’t make him helpless or incapable. Or in the case of a possible enemy, any less of a threat—someone to be taken seriously.

Another could just be that he is stating his intentions—that he won’t and doesn’t want to hurt Core—while still being wary.

And of course, it could be a mixture of all three or something else entirely. Keeping in mind his possible state of mind during this encounter, first interaction he’s had outside of Gaster in years and he was just dissociating heavily a moment before.)

4. His angry/wary expression is very pretty.

His face is very cute but sad in the bottom one.

5. Frisk why are you gaslighting this man 🗣️ 🗣️. You are gonna make him think he’s hallucinating bro!!

Something which bothers me a lot in Undertale is the lack of atonement and acountability all characters ecxept for Asgore lacks. What do you mean Toriel gets scot free from abandoning her kingdom in a time of need? What about Papyrus? Where are his calling outs for his constantly self boasting, pride and stupidity into always thinking of himself as great when he is lesser than his peers, does not realize we are insulting him when we choose to? Also where is the call out for Undyne to trying to kill us, same with Metatton. Sans must be the worse. His innaction and constantly machine gunning of unfunny jokes makes him more annoying than endearing. Where are the call outs for his utter lack of innaction, the calling out for his failed attempts of humour, the pranks he plays on us? If anything, a no mercy neutral is the only route where Sans gets some form of commeupance as he is now condemned to live in an underground devoid of friends and family due to his innaction. Just because he becomes the final boss in geno that doesn't make him a good judge, its just proves how pathetic he is. It proves that his laziness and innaction to do the bare minimum makes him better off dead. I mean, holy shit how retarded the early fandom was to see him as a badass rather than a pathetic excuse of a man. No wonder there were cases of grooming one after another at the time. A lot of times its hard not to see Undertale as something quite pretentious when looked deeper upon. Because what do you mean you should forgive and embrace people who abused you, harmed you, activelly atempted murder against you? What the fuck kind of retarded mentality is that? You're just opening yourself for further abuse. And I fear the same will happen in Deltarune. Susie better be called out for her past actions because the scars in your skin aren't justification to scar others. Noelle needs a wakeup call 'cause her danger seeking nature is not doing her good. And Kris needs to be called out on mistreating us the player because its not my fault I am stuck inside some boyfailure's colon who turns people into fascists who forces everybody to call him a they them when we wanna call him a he him.

This is just a sloppy vent post about asgore

I'm really hoping Asgore gets to be cool and fun in chapter 5 instead of a cringey depressing joke, gotta be honest tho my hopes feel somewhat diminished. Seeing everyone else's theories for chapter 5 really makes it feel like chapter 5 is gonna be one big "this is why you suck" speech for Asgore. Gonna be how he's such a delusional problem and an uncomfortable burden to those he loves. Like God it really seems like toby made crazy ex asgore video cannon. It just makes me sad.

I really hope that's not the case but so far it feels like deltarune has just had a vested interest of having us Asgore fans be forced to accept that Asgore is just a character who sucks.

He's not fun or funny, he's the punchline, he's rarely cool, and when he is there's tons of baggage. Everything about him that's interesting lives in subtext and from another characters mouth, it's like he's just not really worth you're time.

And I know that's not true but I mean look at the fandom, any thing funny involving Asgore is with him as the butt of the joke he never gets to be part of the fun like Toriel, Sans, Undyne, Papyrus, or Alphys, he's always the thing to point and laugh at.

Im just frustrated that the worst of what the fandom thought Undertale Asgore was is what Deltarune Asgore is setting up to be.

Sans knew it was too good to be true. Flowey has been too quiet lately, Sans almost would’ve forgotten about him were it not for the fact that the weed is just a constant in the back of his mind.

He thinks the flower is watching you just to see what will happen with you, but Alphys swears this has only been a recent thing. If that’s the case, Flowey is probably getting bored by now. Maybe Flowey is starting to realize that you intend to stay here to live out your life.

In any case, if Flowey remembers their previous interactions at all, then he’ll be smart to not interfere. Sans can and will kill Flowey without hesitation.

God, that just reminds him of Frisk. He hopes (which is crazy for him to genuinely hope for anything at all) Frisk never shows up here ever again. Because honestly, Sans might just kill Flowey anyway, and he doesn’t want the damn kid to Reset that.

Unless… It’s been so long, can Flowey Reset now? Or is that power still with Frisk? He would imagine that if Flowey can Reset, then he would’ve done so already months ago. Flowey gets bored so easily, he would’ve done something about it by now.

Man. Where the fuck is Frisk, anyway?

Sans pockets the vitamin bottles Alphys handed to him, putting them away in his little aether for safe keeping.

“thanks for telling me all this, alphys,” Sans smiles calmly as he walks with her, “i uh, i appreciate it.”

Alphys nods as she hurries a few steps ahead to reach the panel to open the doors, “O-Of course, S-Sans. That fl-flower… you know it c-can o-only mean trouble…”

“speaking of, where did you last see the damn thing?”

“It was a f-few days ago wh-when you, [Y/n], and Papyrus w-went to Waterfalls and cau–and caught a few cats.” She informs him, “[Y-Y/n] went off to a path I couldn’t follow, but I-I think the fl-flower lost her, too.”

Shit. Maybe those stupid cameras aren’t so bad after all.

“you have my number still, yeah? keep me updated about the flower?”

“Yeah, o-of course!”

“cool. i’mma go look around for it, but chances are i won’t actually find anything.”

“Oh, b-before you go!”

Alphys runs back to her chaotic desk next to the large monitor screen. She searches for something under the desk for a moment, having to push aside a few things to grab at it. She really needs to clean up her work space soon…

Alphys grabs a purple wrapped box from under the desk, the box being rather large in size. Watching off to the side since she can’t see over the box, Alphys hurries back to Sans and presents the box to him.

He takes it from her hesitantly; it’s not very heavy, Sans could comfortably toss it without having to risk hurting himself.

“This is f-for her. I um… Pl-Please don’t open it. I-It ha–It has s-some uh… l-lady products… I-I ha-had to do a lot of… a lot of research, so…”

Immediately, Sans gets war flashbacks to your period and menstrual cycle talk. There’s a cyan glow around the box, then it disappears into the aether.

“got it. for [y/n]’s eyes only,” He almost winces but holds his expression together, “when [y/n] gets back next week… maybe you two can meet? i bet she’d like to have another pal who’s on her side.”

Alphys perks up with an eager smile, but it deflates as soon as it arrives. Her shoulders sulk and she fiddles with her hands.

“Oh, th-that’d be n-nice, but if I-I go to Snowdin suddenly, U-Undyne will know an-and ask me about it.” She sighs defeatedly, “An-And s–And sometimes Undyne comes by wi–comes by without calling first. S-So, it’s best not to r-risk it…”

Yeah, that’s… probably the best move for now. It’s nice of Alphys to take that into consideration, and to put you first over her desire to meet you. Still, it’s moments like these that remind Sans just how annoying Undyne’s prejudice against humans can be.

He laughs awkwardly, “well, eventually, i guess. we’ll figure something out.”

“Y-Yeah, for sure!” She pipes up, “Uh, may-maybe just tell her I-I said hello, a-and that I think sh-she’s neat!”

“i will, alph.” Sans puts one hand in his pocket, and the other up to his head for a lazy salute, “see ya.”

Sans was going to walk back to Snowdin, but he realized that he can’t afford to waste a lot of time. He told Papyrus he’d be back soon, so he should keep his word. And since Alphys knows this little trick, Sans has no issue just shortcutting out of there and straight into his home. More specifically, his shared room with you.

He still very much wants to look around for a wild Flowey sighting, but he should focus on his other tasks first.

Sans pulls your vitamins and special gift out of the void, leaving them on the dresser. Stretching his arms above his head, he leaves the room with a sudden laziness. Something about being home brings out that side of him; Sans can’t allow himself to get side tracked, though.

Ah, he can already hear your pretty little voice in his numb-skull: “Sans, do something.”

And all he can do is just nod like a soggy cat while saying “yes, dear.”

Such is life, he supposes.

“papyrus…!” Sans calls out, “you still here?”

Childe meows loudly from downstairs. Good to know the cat is chillin’.

“YES, SANS.” Papyrus responds from the living room, “WELCOME BACK. HOW DID THINGS GO?”

“miss her already, bro.” Sans says light heartedly, “nah, but in all seriousness, it was good. i met the monster lady who was taking care of [y/n] before she moved in with us: toriel. she seems nice, and she definitely sees herself as [y/n]’s mom.”

“TORIEL? THAT NAME SOUNDS FAMILIAR… I THINK I’VE READ THAT NAME BEFORE.”

Sans stops at the bottom of the stairs, letting the kitty, Morax, rub against his legs, “wait, what? read it where?”

“IN A HISTORY BOOK. IT WAS AN OLD ONE, BUT IT WAS ABOUT THE KING AND QUEEN. AS A FUTURE MEMBER OF THE ROYAL GUARD, OF COURSE I HAD TO TAKE IT UPON MYSELF TO LEARN A THING OR TWO,” Papyrus is sitting on the couch, holding Childe up in the air and Childe is just limply letting it happen. “IF TORIEL IS THE QUEEN, AND SHE VIEWS HERSELF AS [Y/N]’S MOTHER, DOES THAT MAKE [Y/N] A PRINCESS?”

“uhh…”

“YOU WOULD BE A GOOD PRINCE, BROTHER! I CAN’T NAME THE REASONS WHY, BUT AS YOUR LOVING SIBLING, I AUTOMATICALLY THINK YOU WOULD BE A GOOD RULER ANYWAY.”

“…gee, thanks. happy to know compliments come easy to you.”

“ALWAYS A PLEASURE, SANS.”

Sigh.

Sans carefully walks around Morax, moving to the couch as well. He sits next to his brother, and finds delight in the way Morax immediately jumps on his lap. Huh, maybe you were right. Maybe the cats like them, after all.

“I TOOK THE CATS OUT ALREADY, BY THE WAY. CATS ARE RATHER PRIVATE, MORE SO THAN DOGS, YOU KNOW?”

“really? [y/n] said they’re a lot more independent than dogs, too, but haven’t they been pretty clingy?”

“I DID THINK SO AS WELL, BUT THEY’RE SO CUTE, SO IT’S OKAY!” Papyrus raises Childe higher, “DON’T YOU AGREE, CHILDE?”

“wahh.”

“ANYWAY, SANS. I WAS THINKING WE SHOULD GO GROCERY SHOPPING. MIGHT AS WELL DO IT NOW RATHER THAN LATER. HOW ABOUT IT?”

“sure, i’m game.”

If only to use this as an excuse to get out of the house. It’ll be good to see if Flowey would be anywhere, too. If Sans can’t even catch a glimpse of the damn weed, then he might be back in the Ruins to stalk you.

Isn’t he being too clingy? He needs to chill out and trust that you can take care of yourself. You can take care of yourself, and Toriel is with you, too.

Thinking of you…

“actually, papyrus,” Sans rubs the side of his face, “there’s something i gotta tell you. it’s related to the dj machine [y/n] and i’ve been using.”

Papyrus raises a bone brow, staying seated by his relative, “OKAY…? WHAT IS IT?”

“i told you how we’re going to these alternate universes and timelines using the machine…”

“YES, A NORMAL WEEKDAY ACTIVITY FOR YOU.”

“right, right. but… i never told you why we’re doing it.”

“Y-YES, WELL. I FIGURED THAT YOU WOULD TELL ME EVENTUALLY. WHEN YOU DEEMED IT TO BE IMPORTANT FOR ME TO KNOW.”

Sans nods, “yeah, that’s–i mean, that was the plan. at first. but… i decided that i need to tell you now since it won’t be fair if you’re the last one to know.”

Papyrus clears his throat, “YOU MAKE IT SOUND SO SERIOUS, BROTHER. BUT IT’S ONLY ME, YOU CAN TELL ME WHATEVER IT IS YOU NEED TO TELL ME.”

“i know, paps.” It’s Sans’ turn to clear his throat, “so… [y/n] and i have been working on bringing back… our dad. gaster.”

“…OH.”

“yeah… he’s–scattered across space and time, so we’re going around to collect his pieces and possibly put him back in one piece?” Sans’ grin becomes nervous, “uhm… so… yeah.”

“WOW, UH…” Papyrus looks away with a grimace. “THAT’S… QUITE THE PASSION PROJECT YOU TWO HAVE GOING ON. NYEH-HEH…”

Papyrus has to wonder now, if all those weeks ago, when you asked him about other skeleton monsters, was it because it was related to Gaster? Was this something you had known about for this long? Instead of directly asking him, you had to find a way to ask Sans instead.

“how–how do you feel?” Sans asks.

“I’M NOT–SURE… I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE MORE EXCITED OR HAPPY ABOUT THIS. AND I SUPPOSE I AM, TRULY! WHO DOESN’T WANT TO BE REUNITED WITH THEIR FATHER WHO GOT SCATTERED ACROSS SPACE AND TIME?” Papyrus scrunches his face, “BUT… IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE OVER THE MOON ABOUT IT. THE MEMORIES I HAVE OF HIM ARE VAGUE AT BEST, AND IT’S NOT AS IF I’M EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED, EITHER.”

Sans nods understandingly, listening quietly to his precious brother pouring his heart out.

“I’M SURE MAYBE I WILL FEEL DIFFERENT ONCE HE’S ACTUALLY HERE IN THE FLESH. IN THE BONEY-FLESH. BUT…” Papyrus makes a vague motion with his hand. He can’t put his thoughts and feelings into words, and it frustrates him to no end, “IS THIS WHOLE JOURNEY DANGEROUS TO YOU AND [Y/N]?”

Uhhhh-

“w-well… there were… you know, moments…” Sans shakes his head, “nothing we couldn’t handle, all part of the adventure.”

“SURE, SURE.”

Sans didn’t think this would be as awkward as it is. He expected his brother to be more hyped and ecstatic, but he clearly got it all wrong.

“TO BE HONEST, I’M NOT–IT’S NOT AS IF THE IDEA OF OUR FATHER RETURNING TO US IS UNPLEASANT, IT’S JUST… I DON’T KNOW, SANS,” Papyrus groans at his own ineptness, “I ALREADY HAVE YOU AND [Y/N], AND NOW CHILDE AND MORAX. I SUPPOSE WHEN I HAVE ALL I COULD NEED NOW, IT’S HARD TO IMAGINE WANTING MORE.”

…Oof. That hit really hard in a way Sans wasn’t expecting.

It’s clear that between them two, Sans is the one with more solid memories regarding Gaster. Papyrus’s memories are more foggy, and his emotions attached to said emotions must not be as strong, either.

Sans is essentially trying to get Papyrus excited about a stranger.

Papyrus might’ve been excited too, but that would be before meeting you. You have such a strong presence in Papyrus’ life, that you might’ve literally filled that void in him. He doesn’t need anyone else in his little family, he has it all now.

Honestly, Sans could learn a thing or two from his brother. They’re already in this situation, so Sans isn’t going to stop now. But if he were in Papyrus’ shoes, he wouldn’t feel the need to add anyone else too.

You, Sans, Papyrus–and the cats, as well now–the family is as complete as it could possibly get.

“i hear you, paps, i do,” Sans pats his brother on the back, “don’t think that you gotta feel a certain way just because of this. i told you since, well, he’s our dad, but don’t force yourself to be more happy or excited than you are. the day that comes that he’ll be here in person, i want you to be prepared for it.”

His shoulders relax some, “I APPRECIATE THE HEADS UP, BROTHER. HOW DID YOU AND [Y/N] GET INVOLVED IN SUCH A THING?”

“uhh… it came to her in a dream.”

“NYEH… WELL, ALRIGHT.”

So simple!!

“SO, I SUPPOSE YOU WILL NO LONGER RECEIVE ANY HAPPY FATHER DAY GIFTS,” Papyrus concludes with a nod, “AT LEAST YOU WILL STILL HAVE MOTHER’S DAY, SANS.”

Awe, that’s a shame. Sans actually likes getting gifts for Father’s day and Mother’s day. That’s the price he must pay to revive his dad from the Shadow Realm.

“there’s also one other thing,” Sans might as well bring it up now, “it’s about [y/n].”

“DON’T YOU DARE BREAK UP WITH HER, SANS. I WILL MAKE SURE YOU REPENT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LONG, LONG LIFE IF YOU DO!!”

“jesus, no! i’m not ending things with her! why–where did that even come from??” Sans puts his hand on his chest like he’s clutching his pearls, “papyrus, this is about her safety.”

“OH, I SEE.” He beams as if he didn’t just threaten his only family, “SO, WHAT IS THE MATTER? IT’S NOT UNDYNE, IS IT? SHE HAS AGREED TO LET ME GUARD SNOWDIN FOR A WHILE NOW, SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR HER TO HAVE HEARD OF [Y/N].”

Huh, so what Alphys said was true. Sans already knew that, but having confirmation is another thing.

“you remember how a long time ago, you told me about this flower that was telling you all sorts of thing? flattery, advice, predictions?” Papyrus nods, letting Sans continue, “call me crazy, but i think that flower… i don’t think it’s a normal flower. i don’t think it’s safe.”

Papyrus furrows his bone-brows, looking to the side, “IS THAT SO…? YOU KNOW, IT HAS BEEN A LONG WHILE SINCE I’VE SEEN THAT FLOWER. BUT ARE YOU SURE IT’S RELATED?”

“yeah, no doubt. the reason why [y/n] moved in with us in the first place was because of a flower that tried killing her.”

“AH, REALLY? I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A MEAN MONSTER, BUT YOU MEAN TO SAY THEY’RE ONE IN THE SAME?”

“i think so. that’s kinda why i don’t like letting her wander off by herself. i’m just worried, you know? and knowing how undyne is… she’s our great pal, but if [y/n] tried defending herself against a monster, it’s [y/n] who will be punished instead.”

“I DON’T WANT TO ADMIT IT, BUT YOU ARE RIGHT. UNDYNE’S OPINIONS ON HUMANS IS VERY… MURDERY.”

“exactly. for her sake, we gotta keep a sharper eye out.” Sans chuckles, “i know she’ll get annoyed with me for coddling or protecting her too much, but you understand my feelings, right papyrus?”

“OF COURSE, I DO. SHE IS IMPORTANT TO US BOTH. HUMANS CAN BE SO SQUISHY AND FRAGILE, WE MUST DO WHAT WE CAN!”

“yeah, exactly!”

“HOWEVER, THERE IS LITTLE WE CAN DO WHILE SITTING ON OUR BUTTS!” Papyrus jumps up to his feet, his cape billowing in the non-existent wind. “LET US DO OUR SHOPPING, AND AFTERWARD, PERHAPS WE CAN COME UP WITH A SORT OF SCHEDULE TO BEGIN SCOUTING FOR THAT EVIL FLOWER.”

“pfft, sounds good,” Sans’ eyes soften around the corners, “man, you really are the coolest there is.”

“NYEH-HEH HEH! AS IF I DON’T ALREADY KNOW. COME NOW, BEFORE YOU GET ANY LAZIER.”

“low blow, man. low blow.”

“SANS, YOU’RE LITERALLY SINKING INTO THE COUCH CUSHIONS AS WE SPEAK.”

“it’s a nice couch.”

Hey there! I wondered if I could ask - what is it about Kralsei that appeals to you so much? For me, it's partially how rich the pairing is in symbolism and meaning, and how much it could potentially represent with regards to Deltarune's themes... and it's partly because I love the boy with every shred of my soul and I want him to be happy :')

I believe our reasons for liking Kralsei are just VERY similar, symbolism, meaning and Ralsei as well!! And that's why I always identified so much with your analysis about them! You basically write everything I would like to say of them in your texts, haha!!

Kralsei, to me, it's about how the narrative is trying to tell implicitly that Kris and Ralsei's relationship will be about a journey of understanding your identity, understanding yourself, belonging...

Kris and Ralsei have very similar problems at the moment: lack of identity. You see that everything Kris and Ralsei do will always be on Asriel's shadow. Everything Kris had before he left was always because of Asriel and how he was a kind of guide for them. Ralsei clearly has references to Asriel, (and Flowey) the kindness, prince thing and etc. But YET, he still doesn't know what it's like to be Ralsei: he doesn't know what it's to be HIM. And honestly, from there you start to think that there is something much deeper to Ralsei than just being an Asriel from a different universe.

This video talked about a little theory: how Ralsei is there to make Kris find their own identity, I highly recommend watching it! And that's where I wanted to start my point about: Ralsei is here to help Kris, to serve his lightner. But on the other hand, Ralsei also needs to be rescued, he also NEEDS his identify, without living in someone else's shadow, if he will help Kris to be themself, will Kris be grateful enough to do the same for the Darkner who helped them?...

I honestly got to think that maybe this is one of the connections of their names? The Undertale Frisk/Kris Ralsei/Asriel connection?? Where Frisk had to save one last person and it was Asriel????/Hj

This idea of Ralsei and Kris being an allusion to "find yourself" or even "self-love"... It's beautiful to me. Not wanting to go into too much detail, but since 2023, I feel like I've been having symptoms similar to identity crises, very focused on who I am, what I should be and how I should act with everything in general, learning that this is an aspect of Ralsei made me find comfort in him, and Kris as well. The supposed meaning of their relationship comforts me and makes me want to see lots of arts, fics, anything good related to them. I hope one day they develop and we have lovely scenes of them doing arts and crafts, hanging out in Hometown and having fun at school!!!!

I can't forget to mention that the thing about light and dark symbolism!! Both need each other.

If we have the few implications of love between the two in the game, I hope Toby will lead this nicely, in a good developed way. In case of becoming an endgame, could be a good one for the end of Deltarune! And then we will have another important canon couple like Undyne and Alphys and the royal guards muahahaha

so indie cross has been on my mind lately

i was gonna make a youtube video but i don't have quality equipment or quality screen recorder so I'm settling for the hellsite instead

so I wanted to analyze the Nightmare Modes of the characters, and that ended up with me creating this stupid script (that i slightly altered):

Now, hold on. Reverse Nightmare Energy? What's that? I've watched both episodes of Indie Cross and played the original FNF mod and I've never seen that!

Well, Reverse Nightmare Energy (which I will shorten to RNME) only gets mentioned once, in Sans vs Bendy Part Three. When the little robot… thing… sees Sans and analyzes him, it says “REVERSE NIGHTMARE ENERGY”. That's it, that's the only time we see that phrase.

So, let's start from here.

I came up with my ideas a while ago, so anything from Indie Cross ep 2 I did not have. Working with what I got, I concluded that the weird red-black lightning thing is RNME. It has weird SPACE-TIME breaking powers, evidenced by the portals and in the Human vs NMM Sans fight, where damage done to the corridor persists through loads and where Sans is able to enter the human’s Save Screen and break the Save Star. This ability to break SpaceTime also means it can be used to make portals. It can be weaponized, since that robot tries to attack Sans with it. It gives major boosts to stats and gives the user various powers related to their world they wouldn't be able to do otherwise (sans using Undyne’s spears or Asriel’s stars being examples). Using too much or Having too much RNME causes the user to ‘overheat’, shattering the RNME form and sending them back to their world, as evidenced by Bendy’s form cracking and him being sent back to his world. It seems that when too much RNME is used, the color reverts back to the red its in in it's natural state instead of whatever color the user has (magenta for cup, cyan for sans, yellow for Bendy), also evidenced by that Bendy scene, which seems to indicate whenever there's too much RNME at play. 

Whoo. That's a lot.

There's another thing I listed, but I think that can be ignored. Based on the NMM Cuphead vs Devil fight it seemed like RNME might have some sort of connection to the FNF Corruption mod, but it seems that isn't the case, especially since Indie Cross is no longer related to FNF.

Based on this, I theorized that there's some sort of other dimension full of RNME. Whenever someone is infused with RNME, they are able to draw power from that other dimension, with the RNME infused in them being a sort of conduit. However, drawing too much RNME will overwhelm the conduit, causing it to shatter and send the user back home.

Alright. What else do we have?

When Episode 2 released, I went back and watched some other videos, specifically regarding Cuphead. Here's what's new.

Cuphead loses the RNME after a weak encounter with Tricky. This seems to me that it can just wear out over time. After that, Cuphead seems to be unaware as to where he is, meaning it's possible he lost his memories of his NMM form, which would explain why he doesn't say anything in episode two when Charlotte says it's the only one that can freely use RNME. Another interesting thing I noticed: Cuphead in both episodes speaks of Mugman as if he’s alive, but it seems like this Cuphead is the same one from Cuphead v Choo Choo Charles, which implies he’s the same one from Cuphead v Tricky and NMM!Cuphead v Devil, in which Mugman dies. So, there’s something to take note of.

SPEAKING OF EPISODE 2, Charlotte infodumps a lot about RNME. Here's everything. 

The portals are a result of a colossal multiversal calamity. They're a power source, but also a tool if used correctly. If a portal fails to form near an anomaly, it could cause their abilities to realize any doable feat from their respective realm. The occurrence and destinations of a portal is always random. The only way to be certain of your destination is to directly consume its power, which is usually impossible for one to control. One must meet certain requirements to freely use it. 

Now, here's a reminder that Charlotte intends to deceive the protagonists into their own deaths, so take all this with a grain of salt. It may be possible that Charlotte is lying or doesn't know the whole truth.

So where does this leave us?

Here's what I think.

This multiversal calamity spewed out RNME throughout, well, the multiverse. When a strong amount of RNME coalesces near an anomaly, it forms a portal for the anomaly to go through. If it fails to properly form, we get the NMM forms. 

It's possible that going back to normal means u lose your memories of your NMM forms, though this might not be the case. We don't get enough dialogue out of Afton after he loses his RNME and ANY dialogue from Bendy, and we don't see sans revert back to normal either. 

It's possible that if an anomaly is in severe emotional distress (Cuphead losing Mugman in NMM Cuphead v Devil), it causes some sort of alternate personality to take over. This could explain why Cuphead acts so differently in NMM form and loses his memories afterwards, yet Sans and Afton act the same (not sever emotional distress)

When Sans and Cuphead gained their NMM forms, it happened in some sort of magic circle, with five “bolts” of RNME surrounding them. This doesn't seem to be necessary, as neither Afton nor Bendy had that. This may mean some outside force (the one Sans talks to) is able to control RNME to some extent, and intentionally infused Cuphead and Sans with the RNME, without and with their consent respectively. In Episode 2, Game Master is restored in a similar fashion with five bolts of RNME surrounding it, creating a circle, which has some implications. Are the rogues the ones that infused Sans and Cuphead with the RNME? I don’t think so. Maybe the five-bolt-magic-circle thing is the easiest or most effective way to do it? Is the one that helped Sans also the one that affected Cuphead? It’s hard to know for now.

We also get a confirmation on how it allows the user to use any ability from their world. (although I must also add it allows the user to shoot LASER BEAMS FROM THEIR EYES, evidenced by Sans, Bendy, and Afton)

We get a DEconfirmation on it returning u to ur original world upon the loss of your NMM form, since Cuphead didn't return to his in Cuphead vs Tricky. This could mean we see Bendy in some random universe in the future, tho I wouldn't bet on it.

In the Afton fight, I believe the RNME does go from purple to a fuscia, though that may be a trick of the light. Since Cuphead and Afton both have colors close to red, using them to prove or disprove RNME reverting to red after overuse is kinda… meh.

I'm not sure where RNME comes from. It probably isn't another dimension, considering we get that line about multiversal calamity, but what does that entail? What kind of calamity creates RNME, or does it even CREATE it, or does it just unleash it into the multiverse from some other source (like another dimension or some other alternative)?

Blue:

when you go missing he's the first to notice. Both of you text pretty frequently when your not around each other (which is pretty rare in of itself). He visits your home, then your job, then any other areas your known to frequently vist. Getting more and more worried as you remain missing for longer and don't respond to his calls.

He calls Stretch out to help with looking for you, his brother knows a lot of people so they'd both find out pretty soon that you were last seen visiting Undyne.

Blue decides to sneak into Undyne's lab. Though he does think the best, "probably just some medical check up you forgot to tell him about. Nothing big!"

Immediately goes to comforting you when he does find you.

Keeps hugging you even when you try and push him away, apologising for melting over him.

He confronts Undyne he confesses to hiding both yourself and the rest of the amalgamites away.

Blue calls in Alphys to help deal with the situation and re-unite everyone. Then he and Stretch take you back home. He promises to help you in any way.

He tries to do what you want, if you want to find a cure, then he's recruiting Stretch, even a regretful Undyne to the cause. You just want to learn to live again? Yep and he's by your side every step of the way

Stretch:

Immediately suspicious when you just disappear. That's unusual for you. He asks around and finds that a few of his bar friends saw you and Undyne together. Weird, especially cause you don't really know her.

He shoots a text to Undyne asking her where you are. When she starts acting weird, changing subject, ignoring phone calls, asking dumb questions, he gets really suspicious

He goes down into the old lab his father used to work in. Guessing that Undyne still uses it.

Imagine his surprise (and horror) when he finds you, malformed, melting and in constant pain.

He carries you up and confronts Undyne. It's not a confrontation that goes well...

Of course Undyne is heartbroken and riddled with guilt. She had never thought that determination could do something like that.

Stretch keeps you in the lab. Hoping that with him and Undyne's intelligence, a cure could be found quickly.

He grabs things from your home that he knows would comfort you. Blankets, clothes, books, anything that keeps you stable and happy.

Somehow still manages to make time for cuddles.

Black (SF Sans)

boy if you even think you're leaving his eyesight!!!

seriously tho, I can only imagine Black would ever let someone like, euugh, Undyne, if you were in serious trouble.

Likely you had some serious health issues, or maybe you even fell down.

Whatever the case, he was desperate to help you and Undyne's kind of the only qualified doctor they have left. So off you go...

yeah, it doesn't go well. Black genuinely tries to murder Undyne. He takes this not only as a slight against you, but as action against him.

You're under HIS protection, meaning when someone fucks with you, they fuck with him.

Mutt steps in and manages to calm his brother down, pointing out that Undyne may actually be one of the only people to be able to help you.

Black keeps a VERY close eye on you. If you haven't already moved in with him, you are now!

Tasks his brother with keeping you safe when he has to leave.

Mutt (SF Papyrus):

probably the one to fuck up this time, ngl.

He was actually apart of the royal scientists before he left it. Like Black, he wouldn't want any science experiment stuff going on and he tries to keep you seperate from it.

We don't always get what we want though, from one reason to another, bad timing, thoughtless decisions, etc. You ended up overdosing from two much determination.

the guilt almost cracks his soul in two. He can't look you in the eye after what happened.

Keeps you hidden away in the true lab, occasionally popping in when he's either really drunk, high, or holding some new serum that's supposed to cure you.

Poor boy already struggled with substance abuse, this just makes it worse.

When he shortcuts in drunk; he just cries, holding your malformed body and crying apologies and begging for forgiveness.

Then he disappears in the morning when he wakes up hungover as hell and realises what he'd done.

Revised Merging Timelines Chapter Twenty Five

After a minute or so of walking, Killer heard Toriel saying, "Child? Killer told me to ask you about Chara? How do you know them?"

"You know Chara, Frisk?" Asgore questioned in surprise and confusion.

"Wait, who?" Raphael asked.

"Chara, a human child me and Tori had adopted... they died due to eating a poisonous flower... It was a tragedy, and not a day goes by that I don't miss them..." Asgore replied somberly.

"Oh... I'm sorry for your loss." Raphael apologized.

"It's alright... Frisk, how do you know them?... Why are you glaring at Killer like that?" Toriel questioned.

Killer glanced over his shoulder at Chara, seeing them glaring daggers at him, and he smirked at them. He still didn't completely trust them, but he'd still enjoy their suffering and see how much it took in case they snapped. He still didn't like how brainwashed Sans was; how protective and how willing he was to listen to them... . . . If they did make it to the Surface peacefully, Sans was going to need a lot of therapy, even if they had to drag him there for it. 

"It's... complicated..." Chara sighed, and Killer turned his skull ahead again, watching for traps and enemies.

"Complicated how?" Asgore asked. 

"I don't want to talk about it..." Chara muttered.

"Please, Frisk..." Toriel pleaded.

"I..." Chara started, before trailing off.

Killer groaned, the knife in his hand stilling that he didn't realize he was spinning as he said, "oh for the love of-! that's not frisk right now. chara is possessing them because during the reset fiasco that still might not be over, frisk gave their soul to chara because they screwed up and wanted to undo it but didn't have the power to without chara's help, and now chara can possess their body whenever they want to."

"WHAT?!" Toriel and Asgore exclaimed in shock, and everyone stopped walking.

"Damnit, Killer!" Chara snapped. 

"Child, is this true?" Toriel asked.

"I- . . . Yes..." Chara admitted.

Killer heard movement behind him, and glanced behind himself again to see Chara being tightly hugged by Asgore and Toriel. He'd roll his eyelights if he had them or if Mono was awake, but instead he just settled on leaning against one of the walls, looking back at them as Chara hugged the goat monsters back. He'd seen them mercilessly and gleefully kill them both, and here they were, hugging the two them. 

"Child, why...? Why didn't you tell us?" Asgore mumbled.

"I didn't know how to... Besides, after a while I thought it'd be best you didn't know..." Chara answered.

"Chara, of course we would want to know! We missed you so dearly! The knowledge of you being back..." Toriel trailed off, tears in her eyes.

"I know... I'm sorry." Chara apologized.

"It's alright, at least now we know..." Toriel said, hugging them tighter.

"Killer, how did you know?..." Asgore asked, and Killer looked up at him.

"they were in my timeline. we... knew each other." Killer replied vaguely. 

"How?" Asgore questioned, and Killer's grip on his knife tightened.

"i don't wanna talk about it." Killer told him.

Asgore looked at Chara in confusion, and they said solemnly, "It wasn't good... The Chara in Killer's timeline hurt him, bad... He's kinda pissed about it."

"'kinda'?" Killer narrowed his eye sockets.

". . . Ok, he's really pissed because of it, and before you say anything, it's completely deserved." Chara said.

"But you're not that version of you." Toriel said.

"doesn't matter." Killer told her, "and i still gotta deal with sans... ugh..."

Killer tilted his skull back with a groan, and Toriel looked at him in confusion, asking, "Doesn't it matter? Also, what did you mean about Sans?"

"No, Tori, it doesn't. I can tell he clearly suffered from them, and if I had suffered and seen another version of them... I wouldn't handle it well either." Asgore said, and Toriel frowned, "As for Sans... Is he ok?"

". . ." Killer was silent for a moment before he sighed, "not really."

"That's a given." Undyne sighed, "All he mentioned was the dissociating, but there seemed to be much more going on..."

"KILLER EXPLAINED SOME THINGS TO ME, AND... I'M WORRIED ABOUT HIM..." Papyrus trailed off, frowning.

"When did you guys talk?" Alphys asked.

"uhhhh...." Killer trailed off, trying to think of a lie.

"Wait.... It was last night, wasn't it?" Undyne realized, "That's how Papyrus knew about the Royal Guard thing... you told him..."

"he needed to learn sooner or later." Killer sighed, "not teaching him crap will just get him killed in an actual fight, and i know you guys have fought before, but he holds back too much. besides, we didn't just talk. i taught him how to do something."

". . . You taught him how to dodge." Undyne said after a moment of thinking, not really a guess.

"yup." Killer confirmed.

"WHICH WAS VERY HELPFUL, BROTHER! DODGING IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE!" Papyrus smiled.

". . . Killer? B-Be honest... how bad is Sans's con-condition?" Alphys asked, and Killer went still for a moment.

". . . before i got here, lucks got a massive amount of memories from my timeline. about... over two decades in one night. he saw endless genocides, every single damn time, with nothing changing. he saw... more than he ever should've, and uh... it messes with him. not like it did me, i'm another issue entirely, my soul was altered from it. lucky though... . . ." Killer went silent for a moment before he continued, "the chara in my timeline brainwashed me, and that transferred over into lucky. he hears and sees them as hallucinations, and when he dissociates... it's bad..."

"Oh my god..." Toriel gasped, hands over her mouth.

"H-Has it gotten worse?..." Alphys questioned, looking extremely concerned.

"sometimes.... the last time it happened when he was in control was... it was two timelines ago i think? wasn't it, with skyler?" Killer asked Chara for verification, and they nodded.

"Yeah, then Iggy came next." Chara answered.

"thought so. anyways, uh.. it happened then, and... that was probably the most severe it's gotten." Killer sighed.

"What happened?" Undyne questioned, "And be honest. We need to know how to help him."

". . . he's gonna kill me for this.. if only i cared..." Killer sighed, looking down at the floor for a moment before answering, "he wound up attacking the kid."

"HE WHAT?!" Everyone but Raphael exclaimed.

"yeah... me, dust, and horror snapped him out of it, but they got hurt a bit. dust patched them up while i calmed sans down... it always happens when he's stressed out or everything's quiet. so, we make some noise, keep him distracted, block them out, all that."

"I didn't know it was that bad..." Chara murmured.

"yeah... that and his stupid coccyx trusting you too much." Killer sighed.

"Is that why he im-immediately went to protect them?" Alphys questioned.

"yeah. i mean they're less frequent, but he had another episode earlier after he found out about papyrus..." Killer replied, and Papyrus looked down guiltily, "and no, don't blame yourself for that. me and dust handled it while you guys dealt with horror, and he's fine. just knocked out from the damn soul tranq..."

"I STILL FEEL WE SHOULD ADDRESS HIS MENTAL STATE..." Papyrus said.

"i'm not saying we shouldn't. all i'm saying is don't blame yourself." Killer told him.

"It's still concerning how much he's suffering because of this..." Asgore frowned.

"it's gotten better. me and dust aren't at each other's throats, horror doesn't hate us anymore, and we're working together more now. so things have improved." Killer informed, "the nightmares still mess with him though."

"Which is why I'm concerned..." Asgore sighed. 

"PERHAPS THERE'S THINGS WE CAN DO TO HELP HIM? LIKE KEEP FIDGET TOYS WITH US, OR ENGAGE IN CONVERSATION WITH HIM OFTEN? AND MONO-"

"don't." Killer cut him off, not wanting the others to know about that.

"Mono?" Alphys asked in confusion.

"nothing." Killer sighed, "you guys ready to keep going or what?"

Everyone exchanged glances before they nodded, and Killer started walking again, the others following behind him. As they walked, Killer could see deactivated robots on the floors, seemingly turned off, and Killer knew it was probably that EMP gun Raphael had. Then there was some with trident stabs in them, along with some scorch marks, and Killer could tell Asgore had helped fight.

"you guys had fun, huh?" Killer smirked.

"There was quite a few robots, yes." Asgore replied. 

"where's this armory at, anyways?" Killer asked.

"Why? Don't you already have a knife?" Chara questioned.

"i wanna pick up a weapon for horror as a souvenir." Killer replied.

Chara sighed, "Of course you do... He can summon one, you know. We've both seen it."

"i know, but still, souvenir." Killer insisted. 

"Will you just admit that you want to go to your version of a toy store?" Chara asked.

"no." Killer smirked, and Chara sighed.

"If you wanna swing by, we can. I'll state on the record we grabbed another EMP gun there, and anything else missing was probably grabbed or knocked down when everyone was evacuated and wanted extra protection." Raphael told him, and Killer went still.

". . . nobody's here but us?" Killer asked for verification.

"Yup. Everyone else left. I told them we'd have this handled." Raphael answered, and an idea came to Killer's mind.

"hmm.... . . . can i grab a backup knife?" Killer requested.

"Sure, but be quick." Raphael nodded.

". . . You know, you humans might not be so bad after all." Killer admitted after a minute.

"Thanks?" Raphael responded, seeming uncertain of how to reply to that.

They got to the armory in another minute or so, and Killer bolted inside, looking at all the weapons, almost in awe at the large selection, a large grin on his face.

"this is heaven... i don't know how i got in, but it's heaven..." Killer whispered to himself, looking over all the blades and guns on the walls and tables with glee.

". . . I've never seen you this excited before." Chara muttered, and Killer grinned, looking around some more.

"it's an entire room of weapons!" Killer grinned, grabbing a serrated knife off of a hanger, testing it's weight before putting it back. 

Killer heard everyone else talking, and he kept looking around, finding a bag filled with small explosives with a detonator next to the bag, and he got an idea. He glanced around, making sure no one was looking, and he grabbed the bag, emptying it into one of his coat's inside pockets, the detonator in the other one as he teleported out of the room. Killer teleported back to the waiting room, hiding explosives around it before racing out at full speed, hiding the explosives under robots and other areas, spreading them out rapidly, especially on pipelines with plenty to spare. He teleported back to the armory within thirty seconds or less, popping up from behind a display case and looking around again, hiding the smirk threatening to spread across his face.

Killer looked over at the knives again, testing the feel of each in his hand. He couldn't find one like his, but that was before he found a better one in a box inside of a cabinet. It had an actually better weight to it than the ones Chara had given him, and it was razor sharp. It was a beautiful Raindrop Damascus, and the blade's handle was a comfortable black and red micarta. He'd found his new favorite. He spun it in his hand a few times, grinning widely at the balance it had, and he promptly put the one Chara had given him on a shelf. 

"DID YOU FIND SOMETHING?" Papyrus asked him, and Killer smirked at him before looking back at the knife.

"Yup, he did..." Chara sighed. 

"i can't wait to test this thing out!" Killer grinned in excitement.

"Well, at least he isn't upset anymore..." Flowey muttered, and Killer ignored him. 

Killer looked over at the axes, reaching to grab one for Horror when he heard faint mechanical footsteps approaching, and his skull whipped towards the door, grabbing a cleaver and putting it in an inside pocket instead. The blade of his knife turned glowing red, the Damascus patterns a darker red, and he could practically stare at it for hours, but he'd do that later. In the mean time, it was time for him to have some fun. Killer teleported out of the armory and into the hallway, ignoring everyone else talking as he saw the robots rounding the corner and racing towards him, lasers charging and firing. Killer leapt over the blasts gracefully, slashing his knife at the robots, slashing them across their chests before they exploded into shrapnel.

Killer smirked at the effect of his newest toy, and he jumped over more lasers, landing on a robot's shoulders and plunging the knife straight into the robot's head with little effort, flipping off of it and tearing the knife out of it, leaving a clean cut down the back of it's head. The robot crumpled as he landed on the ground in a crouch, jumping to the side to dodge more lasers, bouncing off of the wall, twirling a few times midair as he flew towards the robots, his knife creating a circular slash that tore through the robots, leaving them in splinters. Killer flipped around in the air, feet planting on the wall and jumping off of it as more lasers were blasted at him. He did a flip midair, landing on the ground on his feet, before slashing his new knife in front of himself multiple times, the slashes that appeared in front of him flying forwards and obliterating the robots.

As he fought and maneuvered in the air, he was secretly slipping the tiny explosives into air vents and onto gas lines, keeping them out of sight and out of mind until it was time for the fireworks he had planned once they were out of here. Killer heard a laser fly past his skull, and he turned around to see robots rounding the other corner. He sent waves of sharp bones in both directions, careful not to use his Gaster Blaster in case it set off the explosives, and he slashed his knife to destroy any robots his bones left behind. He continued fighting and having fun for a few more minutes, before the dams dried up of robots for the moment, and he ran out of targets. He was almost disappointed, and even searched around for any stragglers, opening doors in the hallway trying to find more robots, but found none. He sighed in now definite disappointment, and headed back to the armory, seeing everyone peeking out of the door in shock and awe.

"what?" Killer asked as he heard a robot, or at least, the remained of it, fall off of the ceiling behind him.

"How the hell...?... Ok, now I see why Frisk- err, Chara, wanted to get you a knife, hot damn..." Raphael muttered, stunned.

". . . That knife... your magic in it destroyed those things in a single hit with no effort..." Flowey said, "I know you fought me, but you never managed to land one of those slashes. You could've killed me..."

"yep. hey raphael, can i keep this?" Killer asked, looking down at the blade.

". . . It's shorter than the legal requirement to own a permit for it, and I mean, if it's in self defense... In this particular situation I guess you could. Just don't kill anyone with it. Robots only, otherwise you'll be arrested for murder. Ok?" Raphael responded.

". . . i'm really liking your loopholes." Killer smirked, and he headed down the hallway again, hearing everyone else follow him, likely looking around at the damage.

". . . I'm going out on a limb and saying Dust came up with plans for if things went south?" Chara asked after a moment.

"That's what he told us." Undyne replied. 

"And he probably also told you to protect everyone else, right Killer?" Chara questioned.

"i mean it's kinda a requirement, otherwise you'd reset." Killer shrugged.

"That wasn't my question." Chara said, and he glared at them.

"Wait, why wouldn't he? Aren't you guys friends?" Raphael asked.

"that's stretching it." Killer said.

"It's... touch and go." Chara sighed, "But did he?"

". . . fine, yes, he did. what about it?" Killer questioned.

"He also told you not to kill me back at the lab when I took over Frisk's body, and you listened to him." Chara mentioned, and Killer caught on to where this conversation was going.

"oh no no no no no, no. we are not having this conversation right now." Killer glared at them.

"What conversation?" Toriel asked.

"Why Killer does everything Dust tells him." Chara replied.

"HE SAID IT WAS BECAUSE DUST WAS THE LEADER OF THEIR TEAM." Papyrus spoke up.

"That's not it. It might be an excuse, but it's not the true reason. I can tell." Chara sighed. 

"and i can tell you to mind your damn business. you're wrong, anyways. it is because he's leader." Killer hissed.

"No, it's because you view him as your best friend, and that stupid other version of you made you want to do whatever your 'best friend'' tells you." Chara glared at him, and he glared right back at them.

Killer could see and hear everyone looking between each other with mixed expressions, mainly concern and sympathy, and Killer ignored them. He didn't want their damn pity.

"and i say that's a load of horse crap." Killer glared.

"And yet I'm not wrong." Chara sighed, "Does Dust at least know? You have to have told him! Right?"

Killer glared off to the side, before muttering, "he knows, and he's pissed about it."

"As he should be! Look, I don't know how long it'll take to undo what they did to you, but-" Chara started, but Killer cut them off as he burst out laughing, nearly doubling over.

They really thought they could fix him? That they could undo what had been engrained into him?? Wasn't that just damn pathetic?

"sorry, sorry, you- you think you can fix me? come on, we both know you're not that damn stupid! i can't be fixed. my determination is broken, my soul is irreversibly screwed up, and oh yeah, i don't even want to think about what my emotions would be like if by some miracle my soul got 'fixed'." Killer glared, "you can try undoing it with sans, which honestly won't work, but do not try that with me."

'what's going on?' Mono asked, and Killer's jaw clenched.

'great freaking timing as usual, mono.' Killer sighed, 'chara thinks they can fix what happened.'

'wait, really? that's kinda stupid...' Mono mumbled.

'looks like we can actually agree on something.' Killer muttered mentally.

"That's not what I meant... I'm talking about what they did to your way of thinking... I don't even want to say what they did, how, and why, but we both know what I'm talking about." Chara said.

With Mono awake, Killer was able to feel his emotions, and they were... overwhelming, to say the least. The anger, the pain.... It felt like he was drowning in it.

"as if i'd trust you enough to start poking around with that!" Killer hissed.

"Why would I do anything to hurt you when only reason I kept Resetting in the Underground is because I wanted to keep everyone safe?!" Chara snapped, and Mono's emotions surged.

"well you've lied before! 'it's only one time and then i'll stop', 'it'll be fun!', 'you can trust me!', 'just one more time, just to make sure you really get the full experience! this time will be even better!'!" Killer shot right back, Broken Determination coming from his eye sockets in thick globs, splattering on the floor as his soul spasmed, "it was hundreds upon hundreds of times! when my damn lv would go up you'd take advantage of it and give me little comforting words that were just another damn way for you to turn me into this! you were right though, i did stop caring! if i showed signs of caring, you'd just reload over and over, making me kill that particular monster over and over and over again, even telling him that i'd done it before! don't even think about trying to 'undo what they did' because you already did enough!"

Killer teleported away after that, the emotions from Mono too much to handle, and he ignored everyone's reactions to his words. He didn't even notice he'd teleported himself back to the armory until he felt one of the cabinets pressing against his spine. Killer curled in on himself a bit as another sharp pain hit his soul, Mono trying to take control because apparently Killer wasn't freaking out enough for the both of them. His soul spasmed again, a choked gasp leaving Killer as he could feel Mono taking control, but Killer wouldn't let him out, this was supposed to be a damn escape mission. 

Try as he might, Killer couldn't hang on, and Mono took control, soul painfully turning into an upside-down red and white heart, Killer forced to spectate Mono having a damn mental breakdown. Mono had moved Killer's hands to tightly grip his arms, tremors wracking the body's bones, and every time Killer tried taking control back, Mono's emotions were like a wall he couldn't get past. Mono was hyperventilating, tears mixing with Broken Determination and streaming down his cheekbones, and the grip on his arms would be painfully tight if he could feel pain. 

"BROTHER?" Killer's vision shifted to look up at the doorway, seeing Papyrus standing there, more tremors wracking Killer's body as Mono shook. 

Mono hallucinated Papyrus's skull getting sliced off from behind, it falling to the floor before his body turned to dust. Mono curled Killer's body on himself tighter, arms hugging his knees, apologies pouring out that Mono probably wasn't even aware of, and Killer mentally sighed. Mono flinched as Papyrus's hand was gently placed on his right shoulder, Killer's vision suddenly snapping up again to look at Papyrus, who was kneeling down in front of him, looking concerned.

"KILLER, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" Papyrus asked softly, and then he seemed to see the definitely present eyelight in his left eye socket, "MONO?"

Mono nodded Killer's skull a bit, looking down as his bones rattled and trembled, replying quietly, "y-yeah..... it's me..... h-how'd you k-know?..."

"KILLER TOLD ME ABOUT YOU..." Papyrus answered, and Killer's vision snapped up to Papyrus's face again, Mono surprised and shocked.

"r-really?" Mono asked.

'you did? really?'

'yeah yeah, don't make a big deal about it...' Killer grumbled.

"thanks, killer..." Mono mumbled.

'whatever. can i have control back? we still need to get out of here.' Killer requested.

'out of where?' Mono questioned.

'. . . look back in the memories.' Killer sighed.

Mono did so, Killer seeing the memories flash through Mono's thoughts, and he felt his eye sockets widening a bit, '. . . oh... at least we made it out, right?'

'not yet we didn't.' Killer muttered, 'i was working on it though...'

"MONO? ARE YOU OK?" Papyrus asked, and Mono nodded a little again.

"y-yeah, sorry.... talking with killer... umm... is everything ok with the others?..." Mono questioned.

"YES, MOSTLY. THEY'RE WORRIED, THOUGH... I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAME TO FIND YOU, I TOLD THE OTHERS TO STAY BACK. I FIGURED KILLER WOULD COME HERE; HE SEEMED TO LIKE IT HERE AND I ASSUMED HE WOULD FIND IT A SAFE SPACE." Papyrus responded.

"yeah... killer loves w-weapons for some reason..." Mono mumbled, "he's the main one that knows how to use them..."

"YOU AREN'T AWARE?" Papyrus asked, and Mono shook Killer's skull no.

"no... the... the last thing i really remember clearly is... i wanna say my.. was it my twelfth birthday?.... after that i know stuff happened but i don't remember it myself..." Mono answered, "i know killer does because he looked through everything, but i never did, i slept through it..."

"OH..." Papyrus mumbled, moving to sit next to him, Mono quickly moving Killer's body to curl up next to him, "YOU REPRESSED A LOT OF UNPLEASANT MEMORIES I SEE?"

"yeah... i don't... i don't like remembering... i get bursts of memories all at once that freak me out, but then they go away again... something always brings them back and they get shoved down again..." Mono explained.

"HMM... MAYBE YOU'RE AGE REGRESSING?" Papyrus muttered, and Mono tilted Killer's skull a bit.

"age regressing?" Mono questioned.

"YES. LIKE, YOUR MENTAL AGE REGRESSED TO A HAPPIER, LESS STRESSFUL POINT IN YOUR LIFE, IN THIS CASE, ONE OF YOUR RECENT MOST HAPPY MOMENTS. I WONDER WHY IT WAS THEN THOUGH..." Papyrus explained, his tone turning thoughtful at the end.

'probably because that was around when flowey was messing with everyone. pretty sure he did it before that too, but still.' Killer sighed, but Mono wasn't listening.

"i don't know either... at least it hurts less..." Mono mumbled.

"THAT DOES SOUND LIKE A GOOD THING..." Papyrus nodded. 

"but then i should hurt..." Mono said quietly, guilt and shame forming rapidly.

'damnit, here we go again...' Killer groaned.

"NO, YOU SHOULDN'T, BROTHER." Papyrus reassured.

"but i should! i- i hurt you, i know i hurt you! that- no, no, i should have to remember!" Mono responded, a bit angry, and then the anger vanished, replaced by sadness and guilt, "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to-"

"BROTHER." Papyrus moved to crouch in front of him again, hands on his shoulder, "IT'S OK. PLEASE, DON'T BLAME YOURSELF FOR WHAT HAPPENED IN YOUR TIMELINE. IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT."

"but-!" Mono started to protest.

"SHHHHH..." Papyrus shushed gently, "IT'S OK, BROTHER. IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT."

Mono saw another slash appear across Papyrus's neck, and Killer's bones rattled, Mono shakily extending a hand to touch his vertebrae, making sure it wasn't real. It was Mono's attempt to ground himself and stay calm, but all it did was break him down, tears flooding out of Killer's eye sockets. Mono buried Killer's face in Papyrus's armor, Killer internally cringing in mild disgust and exasperation as Mono sobbed into Papyrus's shoulder. Killer felt Papyrus hugging Mono, which only made the skeleton break down further, crying even more and clinging to him tighter.

Killer blocked it out, waiting for Mono to wear himself out, and sure enough, after a few minutes of his meltdown he wore himself out, Killer taking control back as Mono passed out. Killer winced as his soul returned to Stage Two, spasming and swirling in the process, his grip momentarily squeezing Papyrus before it loosened, and Killer sighed, letting go of Papyrus's neck. Papyrus was still hugging him though, but he seemed to be able to tell Mono wasn't in control anymore.

"hey, you uh... you can let go now." Killer told him.

"I CAN, BUT I WANT TO REASSURE MONO A BIT MORE." Papyrus responded.

"he passed out." Killer informed.

"I WANT TO REASSURE YOU MORE." Papyrus amended.

"i don't need-" Killer started to protest again, but Papyrus cut him off.

"LET ME HUG YOU, DAMNIT."

Killer snorted, laughing a bit, Broken Determination coming out of his eye sockets, "alright, alright, fine..."

They stayed like that for a few minutes before Papyrus let him go, Killer moving to sit against the weapon's cabinet again, and Papyrus sat next to him, asking, "WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT ANYTHING?..." and  Killer shook his skull no. "ALRIGHT. THE OFFER IS THERE WHENEVER YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT,  JUST KNOW THAT, OK?"

"alright, thanks..." Killer thanked him, wiping any remnants of the tears Mono had shed in his breakdown before asking "where's the others?"

"THEY ARE UP AHEAD IF YOU WOULD WISH TO REGROUP WITH THEM. THEY ARE ALL VERY WORRIED ABOUT YOU, AND CHARA FEELS VERY GUILTY ABOUT... UMM..." Papyrus trailed off as he stood up, unsure of what to call his breakdown while being polite and gentle about it.

Killer sighed a bit, pushing himself up to stand, questioning, "you wanna head back to them? get outta this dump?"

"IT'S PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA...." Papyrus answered, standing up.

Killer nodded, before asking, "hey, uh... can you not tell everyone about what just happened?"

"OF COURSE, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL KEEP HIS GREAT JAW SHUT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED! . . . WAS CHARA RIGHT ABOUT YOU AND DUST BEING BEST FRIENDS?..."

Killer was quiet for a minute, before sighing as he admitted, "i consider him my best friend. not sure what he thinks about me."

"WELL, I BELIEVE IT GOES YOUR WAY TOO. DUST SEEMS TO BE FOND OF YOU AND CARES ABOUT YOUR WELLBEING, AND HORROR AND SANS, WHILE NOT HUGE FANS OF YOU, SEEM TO CARE ABOUT YOU TOO. ALL IN ALL, I BELIEVE YOU HAVE GENUINE FRIENDS, BROTHER. FRIENDS THAT DON'T WISH TO USE YOU OR HURT YOU OR MAKE YOU HARM OTHERS, AND I CANNOT POSSIBLY FATHOM HOW YOU'RE STILL GOING AFTER ALL THAT YOU AND MONO ENDURED. YOU BOTH ARE VERY STRONG, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH IT MEANS, BUT... I'M PROUD OF YOU." Papyrus said, sincere.

Killer stared at him for a moment, before looking off to the side, unsure of what to say for a while before settling on, "i uh.... thanks..."

"YOU'RE WELCOME, KILLER. ARE YOU READY TO RETURN TO THE OTHERS?" Papyrus asked.

"yeah, let's go." Killer nodded, and they both started walking.

It was a mostly silent walk, Killer not saying much and Papyrus not seeming to know how to fill the silence. The only thing making any noise was their footsteps and the crunching of robots under their feet, and finally, they regrouped with the others, Killer immediately being onslaughted with questions.

"Dear, are you ok?"

"Are you alright?"

"You ok?"

"K-Killer, how are you d-doing?"

"Hey punk, you alright?"

"i'm fine." Killer sighed, answering all of their questions at once, and he asked, "you guys ready to get the hell out of here?"

He received nods after a few moments, and saw Chara off to the side, an extremely guilty look on their face. Flowey was looking between them, looking like he'd rather be anywhere but there, and Killer sighed again, approaching them.

"hey brat." Killer spoke up, and they looked at him, "don't sweat over it too much. just don't do that crap again or i'll ask horror to do to you what he did to iggy, capiche?" 

Chara shuddered a bit, nodding, "Ok. I'm sorry. I should've known not to talk about-"

"hey, we all make stupid decisions. yours was just idiotic. besides, you know what that other version of you did. you barely did anything but bring memories back." Killer told them.

"... If you're sure... Killer?" Chara asked.

"yeah?" Killer responded.

"I... I still want to make it up to you somehow. I know it wasn't me, but it was still a version of me, so... anything you want me to do, and I'll do it. Any revenge you want that doesn't involve killing or torture, mainly because Frisk would experience it too, you can do, ok?" Chara told him.

Killer thought for a moment, before saying, "i'll give you a raincheck on that."

"Alright..." Chara nodded, and Killer kept walking.

Killer heard the others following behind him, everything tense, and he was on high alert for more robots, since they were in the home stretch if he was remembering the way out of the base correctly. The silence was heavy, no one saying anything, not even Flowey, who would normally want to fill the silence with the sound of his annoying voice. Killer was still subtly placing bombs around, hiding them expertly so no one would see them, and it was sure to go boom now. As Killer rounded a corner, he glanced at them from the corner of his eye sockets, seeing that even Papyrus was tense, and everyone looked uncomfortable. Killer couldn't think of a good way to ease the tension so the silence wasn't suffocating, and took to twirling his knife in his hand as he walked, humming his battle theme under his breath.

Killer may not care about them, but what he did care about was not being bored out of his mind by everyone being on edge. They got to another door, Killer opening it with a lack of caution he'd find himself regretting in a millisecond. Killer saw a laser blast going for Papyrus, who'd moved to stand behind him, and Killer didn't hesitate. Killer jumped in front of him lightning fast, the blast hitting him, and he glared daggers at the assailant, seeing Captain Aldergrave at the end, holding the gun with her uninjured hand.

"Marigold Aldergrave!" Raphael yelled, "Stop this, now! You have been dishonorably discharged, and are under arrest for misuse of power, attempted murder, civilian endangerment, assault with deadly weapons, aggravated assault, and for harming citizens under the protection of the Treaty of Ebott. You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can be used against you in the court of law."

"They signed the damn treaty?!" Former Captain Aldergrave snapped in anger.

"Your actions were a surprising motivator for it's approval." Raphael replied, and she scowled before looking at Killer.

"You! Why the hell don't these work on you?!" She questioned.

"i'm just that good." Killer smirked.

"HUMAN! PLEASE, BEFORE THIS CONTINUES, PLEASE TELL US WHY YOU ARE DOING ALL OF THIS!" Papyrus pleaded.

"You want to know why?! Monsters killed my sibling!" Marigold snapped.

Chara gasped quietly, Killer looking back at them as they shared a thought. There was no frickin' way...

"Our parents hurt us every day! Told us how bad monsters were and thought of us as them, told us we were little monsters and beat us! I was seven when they went to go find help, since our father was the sheriff, so we couldn't reach out to authorities... They didn't return for a long while, and I thought they'd been caught! Turns out they had been! A monster carried their corpse to our village as a taunt, and was heading for me next, before it was fatally wounded and left to die of it's wounds! You monsters killed Chara, and now I'm returning the favor!" Marigold exclaimed.

". . ." Killer burst out laughing, both shocked, surprised, and realizing exactly why she was so familiar.

"What's so funny, monster?!" Marigold asked in anger.

"holy crap... ok, this... oh man, i knew you were familiar! chara wasn't killed by the monsters! they were adopted by them! they sacrificed their soul to let their adopted brother get through the barrier and get your dumb human butt to save you, but he was killed before he got the chance to!" Killer explained, doubling over as he laughed.

"W-What?!... No! You're lying!" Marigold snapped.

Killer glanced over at Chara between snickers, who was looking up at her sadly, and Chara stepped forwards, tears in their eyes.

"Mari... It's me. To prove it to you, I got you a wooden toy horse for your sixth birthday, and you loved it. Your favorite color was blue when I last saw you, because you thought it looked like that lake by our village we would camp at when we got the chance. Your favorite animal was the hawk, and you always loved the rain. You always used to calls me 'Chars', and when I left to find help, I told you to wait for me, and that the code to open the door to my room was two knocks, silence, and then three knocks."

The gun dropped from Marigold's hand, tears in her eyes as she fell to her knees. Chara slowly walked over to her, Flowey wrapping around Killer's arm and attaching to him.

Chara reached her, looking solemn as they said, "It's me, little sister. I'm so sorry I couldn't save you..."

Marigold looked at them before hugging them, crying, and Chara hugged them back.

Everyone was in silence for a while, before Flowey muttered, "They said they wanted to see the golden flowers of their village... I didn't know they meant her..."

"they meant both. they wanted to save her and free the monsters. they just didn't tell you the whole thing." Killer whispered so no one but the weed could hear.

"I wish I'd known..." Flowey mumbled, before asking, "How'd you know?"

"how do you think? they told me." Killer answered, and Flowey nodded a bit.

After a bit more mushy crap Killer didn't pay attention to, they all exited the base, Marigold shutting down the protocol and surrendering to arrest. Everyone else had all agreed not to press charges, saying it was a misunderstanding and that they forgave her, and hoped she could just be dishonorably discharged and not placed into jail or prison for her actions. After all of that, that must have taken hours to give eye witness accounts of what happened, they were on a hill overlooking the abandoned base when Killer remembered the most important part. He teleported back inside, grabbing the detonator from his pocket and pressing the button, dropping it as he teleported back to the others, the base engulfed in an inferno of flames. Killer smirked as he watched his long awaited arson, satisfied with the destruction.

"KILLER!!!!" Everyone exclaimed at once after several moments of shock, and Killer snickered.

"the army probably self destructed it to eliminate evidence or something~" Killer lied.

"OH MY GOD, BROTHER! I CANNOT WITH YOU!" Papyrus groaned, and Killer chuckled.

"I'm telling Dust!" Flowey cackled.

"go ahead~" Killer smirked. He couldn't wait until he was awake again... Killer glanced over at Chara, who still looked upset, and he asked, "what's eating you?"

"I just... I wish things could have been done differently... If I had told her, none of this would have happened... I..." Chara trailed off.

"hey, you did the best you could. that's the thing about new things, you don't know what to do." Killer said as he turned his skull back around to watch the flames. 

He'd thought that was the end of it, but then he heard the familiar sound of a particular button being summoned, and his skull whipped back around to face them.

"One more time... One chance to do everything right..." Chara muttered, looking down at the Reset button hovering in front of them.

"NO!!!!" Killer yelled as they went to press it, grabbing his knife, the blade turning glowing red as it flew into the button, shattering it as everything went black...

So, as of a few days ago my wife and I are through the main route of the new deltarune chapters.

Everything that follows is spoilers, only warning.

We haven’t done everything, notably weird route, and we haven’t managed to beat the knight (although Sharky did look up what happens). And main reactions:

- holy fuck

- tenna is peak and we’ve been doing the dances randomly for days. I miss him

- gerson is the coolest motherfucker and I love his whole thing

- sharky and I have just been saying “your taking too long IS TAKING TOO LONG” constantly. That fight was genuinely the most entrertaining five minutes I’ve ever spent playing a video game. 10 out of fucking 10

Anyway I wanted to dump some thoughts of mine. This is going to be my main theories after a couple of days of thinking on it, as I’m going to stop blocking out the internet tomorrow. I’ll follow uo with other little tidbits, and keep using this to dump thoughts as I go fucking insane over the next few weeks/months.

Main theory stuff

So, the knight. Those are 100% fucking antlers huh?

Sharky and I went back and forth on whether it’s carol or dess, but after thinking on it I feel pretty strongly it’s Dess. The dark world in the shelter gives a neat explanation of what happened to her, and considering cyber world was made in broad daylight, it seems unlikely the mayor wandered into the library without anyone taking notice. But the bigger thing imo is Kris.

Stepping back a bit, regardless of identity, the knight is clearly in league with kris. When at the end of ch 4, they won’t let you open the closet that the knight would have to be in. And fighting the knight in ch 3, as long as they aren’t the last standing, kris does half the damage of the others. And following undertale’s logic, that suggests the knight is someone they care for, so dess herself rather than her mother.

Now granted, it seems that kris’s phone calls are to carol, but to me that just suggests they’re all working together. My guess then is that whatever kris has promised, entails helping dess somehow.

I’ve also been thinking about what the end of the prophecy is. I dont think it is that they destroy castle town or something like that, bc it ends by saying this is how the worlds are saved, which makes it sound like the dark world will still be around. And its not any of the party dying bc susie says each of us “wouldnt let it happen”and itd be weird to phrase it like that if that was the case. Whatever it is, however, got to her so bad that she skipped right past anger to utter disbelief, which means ot has to be really bad. So as much as I hope it doesnt turn out this way, I think the prophecy is that noelle has to die.

Aside from the fact that the holidays are very clearly wrapped up in this either way, theres a couple of things that sort’ve align with this in my head. Firstly, in ralsei’s version of the prophecy, the three heros have to "banish the angel’s heaven" which seemed like a weird phrase this entire time, but I think given the developments here that regardless of route, noelle is a central piece of the coming cataclysm, and so the only way to stop it may be to stop her in some sense. But the other thing that compells me more is thinking about the knight’s motivations

Thats the other thing my mind’s been caught on. We dont have a great grasp of its goals right now, but we've seen a bit now to make some guesses with. Firstly, clearly it needs something with toriel, and seemingly undyne as well. From that phone call kris had, undyne’s going to be sacrificed at some point, so I think a reasonable guess is that the knight needs certain people for some purpose. Chapter 4 was specifically to get toriel, and given kris is in line with the knight, chapter 3 was as well, and thats why kris left the door open. But this has called into question wtf the knight was doing in the first two chapters. I need to review king’s dialogue, but I can kind of hand wave ch 1 as another attempt to get toriel that didnt pan out. But chapter 2 is really interesting, bc theres no chance that was for toriel or undyne, so there has to have been another motivation. Queen’s goal of expanding the world would’ve brought on the roaring, sure, but I think if it was that easy the knight would run around making fountains and be done with it. So theres more to it than that, and I dont think queens half baked plan was the point. Rather, regardless of route, queen wants to get noelle so she can care for her and use her as a weapon.

And I think *THAT* is why chapter 2 went like it did. The only other lightners to get caught in fountains were ones the knight needs something from, and I think what it needed from noelle was for her to have the experience of ch 2, rather than to grab her like the others.

And berdly was there too :)

But seriously, I think that whatever grand thing the knight and co are up to, noelle is an unknowing and key participant in it, and in the end the only way to stop them per the prophecy is to take her out of the equation. Now that said I dont think that will actually happen, but that might just be cope lol

Since we know that Othertale!Undyne and Othertale!Papyrus are in the Omega Timeline in Underverse, and I HC that Color shared an apartment with Delta and Beta in the Omega Timeline thanks to Core Frisk, I like to think that Othertale!Papyrus helps keep up Beta’s education, becomes their tutor.

(To make this easier to read, I’m going to give Othertale Papyrus and Undyne their own nicknames like I did for Ultratale’s Bravery Soul, who I nicknamed Beta.

In this case, Othertale!Undyne will be referred to as Ivory. It’s a color name, because Othertale’s Sans is called Color, but also ivory is material historically used to create piano keys. Othertale Undyne is canonically a pianist.

For Othertale!Papyrus, I will call him Sage. Sage is a color name as well, but it also means “wise/wisdom.” I remember reading that Othertale! Papyrus has more an interest in teaching.)

Because in Othertale, it’s said that Papyrus doesn’t have any motivations to join the Royal Guard or anything. Instead I remember hearing that he takes more of an interest in being a teacher, something about Math.

So while in the Omega Timeline, I like to think that Ivory/Undyne keeps up her piano playing concerts and Papyrus/Sage becomes a math teacher.

And whenever possible Sage stops by Color and Delta’s apartment to tutor Beta because the kid’s situation of sharing a body with an adult likely means Delta doesn’t have time to let the kid sit in a classroom for hours a day when he has to make money.

Maybe Ivory teaches Beta how to play piano too, and Sage and Ivory invite Color, Beta, and Delta to attend Ivory’s piano recitals.

This could also be another reason Color has such a hard time staying in the Omega Timeline; Sage and Ivory were probably told how the script of their AU originally was, and now with the lost of their AU, they try to cling to Color even though they don’t actually remember him as Sans or remember a Sans.

Papyrus/Sage doesn’t remember having a brother but logically knows he was supposed to, while Color knows he had a brother but this one he’s looking at isn’t actually his brother.
