ohhhhh man like for a while ive been on board w the idea that kinger if he was a bug that hed be a moth and i mostly like it bc it creates a good contrast between him and queenie, plus moths being associated w phototaxis, and how often kinger gets shown w butterflies being kinda evocative of him n queenie. but i was watching a panel and sean mentions the idea of kinger being a rhinoceros beetle. which is ALSO cute. but the idea of the horn being the cross made me have the epiphany that kinger should be!!! a treehopper!!!!!!

i mean for one they have a similar funny horn situation that can easily be designed to look like the cross. but more IMPORTANTLY!!! is that some treehoppers exhibit mutualism with ants (!!!) BUT!!! also some treehoppers are presocial, aka they will live communally and take care of young and its SO SO fitting w his outlook that a bug that hed be a bug that takes care of each other....

I think that the 2010's media landscape of Buzzfeed articles about plotholes in disney movies, Cinemasins critiques, and Watchmojo Top Ten scenes in movies that make no sense has truely ruined a lot of media. People are afraid that their work will be torn down if they dare leave a single thing up in the air, if they dare ask their audience to suspend their disbelief.

All too often nowadays I see stories (especially fantasy), take the time to explain how every small aspect of the world works and how it all logically makes sense. The constant time stopped to explain why an event happened, how this object works, or why this is important to the characters. It's just really not needed and it honestly makes a lot of stories worse.

I am of the opinion that the best stories truly just drop you into their world and explain nothing. They just take you through the story of this world and you just have to accept it and continue on. "When he became king, the land became barren." I don't want the story to stop and explain why this is, or how it happened, I want us to move on so we can just assume that the king has such rancid vibes that everything died.

I did in fact write them down

N a shepherd is basically a farmer lol i just wanted to give them a cool sounding name

I have yet to decide on what crops they'd grow there but so far i decide on 2 animals living there who shepherds will probably be handling

Feel free to make up a meaning for the other halos or maybe even a whole new design

In fact make whatever lore u want about the cloud kingdom i welcome it

btw similar to the whole "if you try adderall at a party and it calms you down, get an adhd test" thing, if at some point in your life you try microdosing shrooms with a friend and end up feeling like a functional person for the first time in your life, get tested for depression. like yeah hallucinogens come with elation so youre probably gonna have some "this is the best ive ever felt in my life" vibes regardless, but like. if that in and of itself feels like finally breathing in for the first time in years, thats for sure a sign that something is up with your ability to process serotonin most of the time. feeling better than ever before should be a nice bonus, not a crushing weight off your chest

and omg I love drawing pegasi especially. I have an entire Pinterest board just dedicated to wing & bird references. And trying to combine bird patterns onto each pegasi while also trying to keep the color true to the character AND irl horse genetics is so <33333 I could rant on & on about some of my pegasus designs and the hcs I have for the bird horses

finally got some gardening done after being away for basically like 4 weeks of combined fieldwork + staying with family while recovering from mono. I was sooo scared i had lost all of this years raspberry crop because it looked super bad initially but now that it's had a few good waterings and i cleaned up the dead foliage + snipped off two of the new canes where the meristems had died. it looks like damage was actually not too bad overall, and i may yet get some berries off it it this year yayyyy yippee
