I've read somewhere that one of the easiest and most effective ways to learn new language vocabulary is put labels on objects around you. My thoughts: cool, let's try it! What could possibly go wrong?

I started up with the computer:

ლეპტოპი - phh, obvious

მონიტორი - even more obvious

კლავიატურა - no way, that's just like in Polish!

Encouraged by this I turned to the lamp and the mug:

ნათურა - kind of funny thus easy to remember

ჭიქა - not so obvious anymore but still managable

So far so good, I say looking around me, what's next? A box of tissues maybe?

Now that's something that I can't read out loud for dear life😑

#defeated by the box of tissues geez...#I won't pose as a polyglot ever again. nope. definitely not #and I'm not even sure if the translationand spelling is right it's not the point #the next time I'd feel an urge to learn new language - the sign language would actually be much more use to me #linguistics #also I think I'm mostly fascinated by learning new writing systems #the ability to read Кириллица or მხედრულ�� is just cool on its own like a superpower of knowing a secret code nobody else recognises #almost like Zia reading quipu in Mysterious Cities of Gold
