WRENCH || WICKED AU DESIGN

I’ll post more about it later, but here’s my design for Wrench in my Wicked AU!!! I’ll give a littleeeeee backstory and this’ll probably get redone, but it’s the basics and that’s what we need for now!!! This Wrench is different from my usual Wrench but similar, they are two different entities just following my design headcannons if that makes sense

NOW I would like to preface that this AU follows the GENERAL plot of Wicked but many things are changed to better fit STEX characters and the world of STEX. I’ll explain more later, but we’re gonna start with a bit on Wrench!

Wrench was built a caboose, but after an accident that left him totaled he had to be converted to an electric train, and specifically a medcar. But, during the conversation, his body somehow began to reject it, and odd things occurred. He mutated, sparked with violent red electricity, and seemed to burn and singe. This gave him pointed ears that he can move around, black eyes, clawed hands, and a number of scars across his body. Rejected by most, he still studied hard snd became a very talented and very skilled medcar, but the hospital he took a job at hired him more out of pity. They shoved him in a backward, where he only ever worked on surgeries where he would never be seen by a patient, or given the job of taking care of long terms. Though many patients reported… odd things. Floating objects, flickering lights, and other strange happenings whenever the medcar was around. Wonder what that could be…

so this is part of that au idea i was talking about yesterday. It was like them being stuck in a kids show but they become sentient? I dunno i kinda lost interest in the plot but i loved doing these little overly cartoony drawing. Very inspired by camp camp’s style

um. i had the craziest night of my life last night. i got center barricade for the strokes and they were amazing and played some deep cuts (selfless! drag queen! call it fate call it karma! you talk way too much! the way it is!) plus all the usual bangers and then some people i met SNUCK ME INTO THE VIP AFTER PARTY AND I MET FAB 😳😳😳 AND ALMOST MET JULIAN 😭

Recently I’ve been going back through BSD to do some analysis and I was thinking about Atsushi as the tiger, and what the tiger symbolizes.

I think the tiger is a good allegory for Atsushi’s views on himself as a person. And hear me out:

At the start of the story, Atsushi fears the tiger, but he also seems to hold some spite towards it due to it being the cause of him getting kicked out of the orphanage.

But then we learn that Atsushi is the tiger, and Atsushi himself feels terrible about it. There is suddenly no separation between himself and the tiger in his mind. They are one and the same, and he is just as responsible for everything as the tiger is. He hates the tiger, he doesn’t trust it, and he doesn’t understand it.

And he is the tiger.

It’s kinda common knowledge that Atsushi hates himself, nor does he trust himself, and that is reflected in the fact that the tiger is shown to be an uncontrollable, bloodthirsty creature. It does nothing good for anyone; just as Atsushi thinks he himself does nothing good or useful for anyone.

I’d also like to mention the fact that during chapter/episode one (1), when Atsushi is revealed as the tiger, Dazai is the one to stop it with his ability, and I think that’s an excellent little nod to how it is through Dazai (and by extension the rest of the ADA) that Atsushi is able to begin to trust himself more, and have more value in himself as a person.

Of course later on, Atsushi does make peace with the tiger, and it’s such a powerful moment because it’s not just Atsushi reconciling with the tiger, it’s Atsushi reconciling with himself as well. And I think it shows his growth as a character just fantastically.

I’m open to hearing the thoughts of others as well of course :]

I have spent the past week:

Learning about a Nutcracker movie I’ve never heard of

Watching the movie despite feeling it wouldn’t be good

Finishing the movie and having a bunch of ideas swirling in my head because I am enthralled by this thing

It’s called “The Nutcracker and the Magic Flute”. If you see the cover of the movie…whatever assumptions you make are probably correct. My brain responded by making art. There’s a bunch of small moments and concepts I liked, just not how they were put together.

Redesigned some of the characters to varying degrees.

I think they should do more clever stuff with the “race is passed down by the mother” thing. Imagine in one of the games you keep meeting people in different towns of completely different races who all have the same deadbeat dad or something.

also i’m sort of wondering about kit’s “parents”. are they always puppeted by cheng or are they their own entities that just get “taken over” every once in a while? bc i can’t stop thinking about how fucked up it would be if that was part of the deal like. “i’ll pretend to be your mom and dad while you complete this mission so you can get a taste of what normal life is like”
