Okay another thought! While working on the Trial 2 MVs, you think the prisoners get to watch everyone's first MVs? Like, maybe praise how each video looks ("Oh my gosh, Amane you look amazing!"), making comments with Jackalope's artistic choices (Shidou's flower mummy) and how stiff some of the prisoners look ("Fuuta you're walking like a tinman." "Shut up!"), some singing along to songs they've overheard earlier (Kotoko singing Weakness), and...er...shirtless Mikoto ("Amane don't look!"). Idk, this makes their filming for the next MVs sound more fun as they hang out.

Okay so my original idea was that those first videos were actually watched on the down-low. There were a few days of nothing going on while the prisoners debriefed, made plans, and communicated their song ideas to the writers to start working with. (Minor detail but I think they’re cut off from the world still, no internet access though they can exchange a few messages/visits with family). They do, however, get access to the others’ T1 videos on their phones/ facility computers. Everyone gave permission to watch them, but there’s a bit of hesitancy. They haven’t started filming their new videos yet, so no one has gotten a look that deep into anyone else’s hearts. Just because they’re closer in this au doesn’t make them better communicators -- there’s still a lot that’s been left unsaid regarding near-murders and their true selves. So they only watch them in secret out of respect.

Haruka hides under the covers to watch After Pain on loop late into the night (going “she’s just like me fr”). Fuuta doesn’t care much for the others’ songs but tries to decipher the crimes as best as he can. He probably gets one stuck in his head the next few days that he finds really embarrassing. Mahiru gets very emotional over the other lovers, doing a poor job of hiding her sympathy toward Yuno, Shidou, and Kazui in the following days. Kazui is embarrassed to watch Throw Down so often, but Shidou is such a subtle man and it’s nice to see a more open side to him (who admits to lying as well). Amane takes a while to watch them -- they’re videos supporting murder and sin, after all -- but once she convinces herself it’s to help the experiment, she allows herself to enjoy  them. Kotoko does the same as Fuuta but jumps straight into Fandom Mode and starts taking notes and analyzing the others’ videos. She keeps a secret folder on her phone of theories and symbolism and screenshots for reference. 

HOWEVER

You have opened my eyes to Milgram Movie Night 👁️👁️

Everyone realizes they’re going to need to get comfortable with a lot of personal info really quickly, since T2 filming starts in a few days. Rather than Jackalope’s suggestion of undergoing a painful group circle talk, they go with Mikoto’s idea to all sit down to watch the videos together. This keeps the atmosphere up while they watch, allowing for many compliments and encouragement. It also lets the singer defend things in their video if they see fit, though most let it speak for itself. (Fuuta: “ah, back when I was a menace online.” “You’re still like that Fuuta.” “I’m a changed man!” “You got one guilty verdict and nothing’s even happened yet.”)

I love all of those reactions so much ahhhh! Amane getting showered in compliments like she deserves. Honestly, all of them getting showered in complements because it's what they deserve ;-; Playful teasing getting thrown around for everyone. Not even Jackalope is safe from their heckling (see: Throw Down flower person), and he's not even there to defend himself. There’s lots of blushing and eye covering during MeMe. And a singalong aspect!! I don’t know I didn’t think to incorporate that into the fic so far -- there’s nothing quite like heckling your friend onstage by echoing their lines really loud from the wings asdfsdfsd. Mikoto recognizes the video game from Fuuta’s and makes his whole day. Mahiru and Shidou realize they have both flowers and food in common, and get to talking. All at once, everything clicks into place for why Amane hated Shidou him so much.

I'm also realizing Kazui would have a Moment TM while seeing all the prisoners talking so comfortably about their deepest selves and struggles. I don't think he'd break down and open up just yet, but I bet it's be a pretty big change of heart for him to see such honesty/vulnerability...

Plus, most of my original ideas can still stand after the fact! There's no shame in seeing too much personal info about another prisoner, the only shame comes from just how many time the video was looped in private lmao

Not really a question but they're a very few writers that write fanfiction that have really affected me. Not just their work but the way their work and posts reflect them and I can count on one hand how many there are and you're one of them. Your work is just so captivating, I've literally laughed out loud so many times and it is a source of comfort as right now I'm probably going through the hardest period of my life and have to start therapy even though I'm on the younger spectrum of things. I don't mean to dump here, just wanted to let you know that your work really does mean the world, it really really does.

And i love how your choice of obsession is the lovely Jensen Ackles.

So yesterday I saw a fanart about detective conan

I hadn't thought about detective conan for YEARS

But it was my first fandom ever, the first time I really get obsessed with a fantasy world and its awesome characters. The first time I discover what a fandom is and what fanfics are and how I love reading them

So it will always be special for me.

Anyway seeing that fanart really made me felt the need to see things about them and immediately I felt like being twelve again

I looked about Heiji because he was (and still is) my favourite character and I went into posts and omg... I cried a little bit

Seeing how in details you wrote about Heiji and his friendship with Shinichi which has always been my favourite thing was very emotional.

I remembered most of the episodes and most of the quotes.. Whitout really realising, it they are still in my mind after years.

It was really a powerful and strange sensation

It was really beautiful and I totally want to start seeing what the Canon and the fandom are doing un these days

The English-speaking Detective Conan fandom is maybe a bit small, but I can assure you that it is so incredibly kind. I am constantly blown away by how supportive and encouraging the folks here are.

If you're on Discord, I'd really recommend joining the DCMK Fanfic Server! It's such a fun, lively community filled with insightful conversations, beautiful art and fic, and so many great people. I don't think I would have written probably my favorite DetCo post, the one about how Conan hates that he can't be Shinichi in Heiji's company, if I hadn't been sharing ideas in that server.

I know it's been said, but it's clear that we need to be reminded of this: if you don't like someone, don't follow them. Don't interact or engage with them. Just use your blog to talk about what you like, and carry on. There is quite literally no point in being rude to people here. There is no point in sending disgusting, hateful messages to someone. People don't hear you when you're an asshole, even if you're making a good point. All you do is make a fool of yourself and hurt others unnecessarily.

If you don't like me, don't follow me. Consider this permission, if something has been holding you back. If I've posted a gif, a fic, an opinion you don't like, and it bothers you, unfollow me. Don't think you're doing me a favor if you don't. If you aren't prepared to have a conversation about something that upsets you, if you aren't prepared to get the full picture before you react, then this blog probably isn't the place for you. No hard feelings. If you do want to handle things that way, my ask box is always open, my DMs are always open. If you think there's a conversation to be had, let's have it. Vague call-out posts are not the way, we've learned that. People feel ashamed, or they double down on problematic takes defensively, and we don't grow. We as a fandom should grow, evolve, and become a better, safer, more enjoyable place to be.

I want to enjoy my time here. I come to escape the trials of daily life, and I want the same for you. If following me doesn't bring anything positive to your life, it's okay to admit that and move on.

If you think we've gotten off on the wrong foot, or I've upset you in some way, I'm genuinely sorry. I, in no way, want to alienate or hurt anyone, or portray myself as anything but the down-to-earth, kind of busy, slightly crazy, more-than-slightly CM obsessed woman that I am. I'm not better than anyone else, but I do try to do the right thing, and I do have my own opinions. If we don't jive, that's okay. We don't have to. Don't force it. You aren't going to like everyone, and everyone isn't going to like you. If you've tried reaching out to me and I dropped the ball, reach out again. If you want to go, I encourage you to go.

I'm not here for cliques, bandwagons, or fandom wars. I'm not here for blacklisting someone because they said something you don't like, because their opinions come from a different level of experience or knowledge than your own. I'm not here for pretending to be someone's friend and then completely ignoring their existence and making them feel outcast, or for ignoring their content while also claiming to be someone who wants all creators to be treated equally. I'm here to have fun. I'm here to talk about a show, and characters, that I love, with all kinds of people. When we talk about life, love, friendship, family, etc, it should add to our experience, not take away from it. It should not make us kind of hate opening this app every day.

If you aren't having fun, I hope you read this, rethink, and reconnect with all the things you enjoy about Tumblr/CM, and leave everyone else alone. It's the right thing to do for everyone involved.

I'm going to join in here with some praise, because I have to even if I'm late to the NYE party! I already said this to you in our DMs, but coming across your Heidegger by total chance as I did has been nothing short of a delight, Han. I will never not praise people who have passion, who go the extra mile, for their characters— and I think it's especially beautiful to see that happen in a fandom like FFVII which I think deserves way more attention than it gets. The headspaces of antagonists and villains are so interesting to delve into; to find out how they got to where they are, and what makes them tick. You know, how they're able to disassociate from their actions or sometimes, commit to these decisions that they don't disassociate from at all. I think that's an incredibly interesting psyche to analyze, and having read your backstory, and more actively reading your threads and ask responses from Heid, have me thrilled to the core. I'm so happy to see that you've not just picked him up ages ago, but have an investment in him that I think many could learn from. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks it's admirable. All in all, I wanted to add to what I said over in that way too tiny DM box over there— because you deserve quite the praise. but, thank you so much for this, friend - you've been so kind to me ! & i am overwhelmed by the support of your words. like, i get so weird about my portrayal ( sometimes, i know i can hyperfocus on things & i know that heid is like...NOT the character anybody obsesses over. i mean where's his fanclub in cc? lmao ) so, at times - i feel a little embarrassed by all the writing i do surrounding him. like, it's weird because he's so disliked but then, i've always been drawn to the villainous characters. as you say, there's a headspace there that is so alien - it's interesting to pry inside?

i am so thankful for the remake for giving me this look at a character that i'd not bothered with before - BUT, i am MORE THANKFUL for people like yourself. who encourage me, who read the dumb little headcanons i put out and the silly stories i plug. i really appreciate it so much, the big messages like this & the little shreds of support in notes and stuff like that. it really makes me love writing heid even more, because without people to write him with - what then? fanfic is lonely & writing with peeps is so much more fun!

i really can't wait to explore some plots with you, whether they be silly little snippets of crack or full blown long-winded, tifa & heid fighting or joining up or meeting after meteor-fall and all the ANGST that could come with that. OR even your yuna, because lord knows i got big googly eyes over there, too !

i'm absolutely loving reading your thoughts on your muses & even just seeing you analysing scenes & body language / speech is just - urgh - i love it. i love the passion, i love the insight and i am /SO EXCITED/ to see more. as well as that, i love the memes & the jokes - i will send you SO MANY dancing pugs

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like RTTE. The art style just throws me off, especially with Toothless, and the seasons seem really rushed to me. As if they're trying to fill in the five year gap in between the movies super quickly

There are many people who don’t like the show and speak candidly about their emotions about it on tumblr. I see critical or negative commentary on RTTE a lot on tumblr. You are definitely not alone and I hope you can find groups of individuals with whom you can share your emotions and experiences so that you don’t feel alone anymore! There is nothing wrong with liking or disliking a show - that’s okay - and I want to encourage you with the fact you’re not alone in your opinion.

I have seen in the fandom a split of about equal numbers between people who dislike the show greatly, people who don’t have much respect for the show but still watch and find some amusement, and people who find great joy in it. I am in the last camp. I have talked to friends from all these perspectives and I have discovered the following phenomenon: people who love the show feel like they are in the minority and are trying to find positivity amongst negativity; people who dislike the show feel like they are the minority and are trying to find like-minded people who don’t obsess over RTTE. It appears that there is actually no “minority opinion,” but it’s just that the fandom has many different perspectives, and that, depending upon the groups you interact with the most, you may find one opinion dominating over the other in that limited circle.

I do not want to imply that the fandom is “broken” because people have different perspectives. That is not the case! We do not have to have “factions” simply because we have different ideas! We are still a community who has things we love in common. In truth, the fact that people have different minds over different things is what makes fandom a good thing! Groupthink doesn’t allow for fascinating and nuanced discussion, and by talking to others of different perspectives, we can have some really fun dialogue. I would be so bored in this fandom if I didn’t see other people with different perspectives than my own. There’s also something huge to be said that it’s important for us to be able to interact with opinions that are different than ours without letting it get to us - if we just clustered ourselves in a small room with people who only thought like us, we would be very stinted in our growth as mature human beings.

However, I do all ask individuals in the fandom to do our best to respect everyone’s opinions in the community. We should all be able to be kind to one another and respect one another’s emotions while at the same time acknowledging that people may have different perspectives. My personal request is that people consider speaking in a constructively critical tone rather than what may be perceived as negative whining; the latter does impact the community negatively and will sap out the enjoyment of others. Of course ranting and raving can be a way to release your own emotions and find positivity with like-minded people (I do it, too, in PMs with friends!), but I do ask people to consider where the best location for those sorts of rants may be. It is ultimately your choice how you engage in your personal discussions with RTTE; just bear in mind that whatever you do, it reaches out beyond more than you! <3

All in all, let’s just continue being the awesome dragon nerds we are, having fun and enjoying the things we do love, and connecting in the areas of commonality and creativity we have. The fandom is all good for its variety of perspectives, peoples, and opinions! 

So you’re not alone, friend, and you’re fine believing as you do. <3 I hold no ill will at all for your opinion, don’t think it’s odd, and don’t think you’re necessarily wrong.

However, I do please ask that you don’t send negativity to me. With all kindness, this was not at all the message I wished to receive in my own personal inbox. I don’t want to make you feel bad, but I do hope you understand I don’t want any anti-RTTE sentiment here on my personal blog. As you may be well aware given my posts over the last week, months, and years, I am very much an astute lover of RTTE. Just as you might not want to receive hoards of messages in your inbox that are pro-RTTE because it bothers you, so I also don’t want to receive hoards of messages where people speak poorly of something I want to enjoy because that would bother me. Since this is my blog I use for my own personal recreation, I want to use my blog to speak cheerily about what I love about RTTE. I want to build a positive community around my blog that talks happily about RTTE and all materials in the HTTYD canon. This is a pro-RTTE blog, so I am not going to negatively discuss the show with you. Sorry that I am not the best person to talk to you about your qualms!
