I've been having thoughts about Erik and Istvan, very specifically in regards to the duel between Erik and Henry that I've not seen anyone really talking about yet and after talking with @zythepsary about it last night I decided to throw said thoughts out there.

Istvan has a very distinct way of talking - there's a sort of musical affectation to his cadence and there's something to his voice that I can only describe as a little growl, almost a vocal fry (it makes it really obvious just how many minor characters and NPCs Logan Hillier voices lmao) and when Henry and Erik face each other down, I think Erik is channelling pure Istvan.

You can especially hear this in the word "comrade" - the whole opening line is in my opinion SO in Istvan's rhythm of speaking, but "comrade" has that particular growl that makes it so distinct.

As the conversation progresses and Erik becomes more and more wound up, he reverts back to Erik's voice - he becomes more brusque, more rough. He's shouting, he's hoarse, but he's lost that Istvan cadence - like Istvan is a persona that he's pulled on like a piece of armour for protection, for vengeance, but he can't hold it.

However you read their relationship, Istvan was significantly involved in moulding Erik into who he is, and now Erik is left spinning alone in the wind - he's lost his composure, just like he's lost Istvan, and no amount of mirroring him will bring that back.

Been thinking a lot about things I wish had happened in Season 2 today and I'm still kinda shocked we never got to see Syril meet and work with Cassian while he was still a double agent on Ghorman??

I'd been convinced this was gonna happen since the Celebration teaser. In my head, Cassian was gonna turn up to help the Ghorman Front and they would be like "hey you should really meet our man on the inside!"

And then Syril would walk in and have to pretend he's not been obsessed with Cassian all this time. Try to earn his trust, maybe even develop a friendship with him (which might've become genuine, causing Syril to start questioning everything that's been driving him these past few years.)

idk how this would've worked alongside the whole Ghorman false flag operation. But it would've given a whole new meaning to the"who are you?" moment.

Actually Obsessed with how Yumeko's way of poisoning Kira was to forcefully grab and agressively kiss her!!! Even more obsessed with how when she stopped and leaned back again she had half of Kira's lipstick on her mouth and On Her Teeth. I love these sapphic women and I need them to mess up each other's lipstick over and over again!!!!!

You know it's bad when you enter in a new fandom because you thought one of the characters in an animatic was Nico di Angelo,but in reality it was someone else that was just physically similar to him.

I'm starting to think I have a problem-

Obsessed with it being Skulduggery and Tanith who end up pulling Valkyrie through her drug addiction.

They're the people who raised her, at least the most during her teenage years. She was just twelve years old, half-dead from Serpine but wanting so badly to become a sorcerer, and Skulduggery and Tanith both took one look at the other, whom they had known for a mere few hours, and decided to spend the next several years co-raising this kid. They passed her back and forth, coordinated on who would teach her what, and were there for her on a level that nobody else was.

And they lost Tanith when Valkyrie was a mere sixteen years old, and then Skulduggery had to work to avoid Tanith ever getting to talk to Valkyrie. And then Valkyrie left, and Tanith went to go become a rebel, and Skulduggery stayed to help China build up her dictatorship. Even when Tanith came back when Val was eighteen, there was so much going on that none of them really got to talk, or catch up, or anything. The last time that they were all truly together was when Valkyrie was sixteen, when Tanith and Skulduggery were trying to protect her from the Remnants.

Until Seasons of War. Ten years later. After Valkyrie had developed a drug addiction because of the mental issues she got as a teenager. Neither Skulduggery nor Tanith know what's actually wrong, but they can tell something is wrong.

And so they start bringing her out. They both immediately fall back into that rhythm of working together to help her, to raise her, to make her better. The three of them leaving camp to help Valkyrie experiment with her newfound power, and that distraction, that new thing to focus on and get better at, gives Valkyrie what she needs to stop thinking about the drugs, eventually stopping the withdrawal symptoms. Skulduggery and Tanith defaulting back to working together to help Valkyrie is what saved her, what sealed up that part of her that was so damaged inside. Until she's eventually all better from the problem that they didn't even realize she had.

Just...the three of them.
