The Dinner Scene (Incredibles au)
This is so long, but I have had so much fun with it. A lot of this is just pure chaos lol.
ao3 link
————————————————————
“Mom, Four’s making weird faces at me.”
Malon looked up from where she was putting food on her plate, and saw Wind staring across the table with a foul look. Four crossed his arms at Wind’s complaint and shook his head. “Am not, these peas just taste funny.”
“Ooh, are those the ones that were on the top shelf?” Wild said as he leaned over, long hair almost falling in his food, “those are from last February.”
Four turned a little green. “...That would explain it.”
Wild leaned forward to grab one, but Malon smoothly grabbed the plate out from under his hands, and made the executive decision to promptly dump the questionable peas into the trash.
The perils of leftover night.
“What would you like instead honey?” Malon asked as she dusted her hands off, “carrots? Green beans?”
“Maybe an antacid?” Legend suggested with a smirk, but Four only shrugged and grabbed some broccoli off of Time’s plate. He’d barely eaten anything, instead reading the newspaper for what seemed like word for word.
Malon looked over at him, letting out a small sigh. “Honey, do you have to read that right now?”
Time’s attention was solely on the newspaper in front of him, scanning the headlines. “Uh-huh... yeah...”
Malon rolled her eyes in mostly-fond exasperation, and sat back down, wiping some pea juice on a napkin. She looked around the table, and raised an eyebrow at Hyrule, who was attempting to shove an entire steak into his mouth.
“Whoa hun, yikes, smaller bites. If you need help cutting it just ask someone, remember?” Hyrule looked at her sheepishly, and Malon tapped her husband on the arm. “Time, would you help the carnivore with his meat?”
Time nodded and wordlessly reached over to help Hyrule cut through the tough steak, eyes never leaving the paper. Malon then cleared her throat and turned to Wind, giving him a pointed look as he shrank in his seat.
“So Wind, do you have something you wanna tell your father about school?” she asked mildly. His brothers all turned to look at him in interest, and Wind sunk even further.
“Well we uh, dissected a frog.”
Wind let out a nervous laugh as Wild perked up, and Malon sighed.
“Honey, Wind got sent to the office again,” she said as Wild began grilling Wind for frog details, and Time hummed distractedly, still reading the newspaper.
Malon’s eyebrows lowered, and she tugged the newspaper down from where it was blocking her husband’s face, finally making him look up.
“What?” he asked, paying attention now.
Malon looked him in the eye. Gracious was he distracted tonight. “Wind got sent to the office again.”
Time frowned, and looked over at Wind, who was looking rather small. “What? What for?”
“Nothing!” he said quickly, and Malon crossed her arms.
“He put a tack on the teacher’s chair. During class,” she said with a frown, and Hyrule and Wild both looked over at him with impressed expressions.
“Wait, really?” Hyrule said, sounding awed.
Wild grinned. “You did it during class? That’s so—!”
Malon raised an eyebrow at him and he coughed and looked away.
“—bad. Really bad. You should know better, Wind. For shame.”
Malon gave Wind a pointed look, and he sat up, looking defensive.
“Why does it matter? Nobody saw what I did! You could barely even see it on the tape!” he defended, crossing his own arms. “And I didn’t even actually get in trouble, Mr. Cole just went on one of his dumb rants again.”
Time blinked and faced his son, unable to help an impressed smile from forming on his face. “You got caught on tape and still got away with it? Wind, you must have used hurricane force winds just to move it fast enough, that’s amazing,” he said, and Wind perked up, obviously eager to explain. “How did you manage—?”
“Time,” Malon interrupted with a firm look. “We’re not encouraging this behavior.”
“Um, Dad..?” Hyrule spoke up, but nobody heard him.
Time’s eyebrows lowered. “I’m not encouraging it, I’m just asking how fast he managed to—”
“Dad—”
“Honey, we can’t let him use his powers in class! How is that—”
“Dad!”
Time suddenly cut straight through the dinner plate and the table, sending an entire corner of the wood to the floor along with half the plate.
Hyrule mumbled an “I tried to tell you,” and Time dropped the utensils and put a hand to his forehead, letting out a tight sigh.
“Wonderful. First the car, and now we‘ll have to fix the table...”
“The car? What happened to the car?” Malon asked worriedly. Her husband hadn’t said anything about that since they’d been home.
Time didn’t reply, standing from the table with a heavy sigh.
“I’ll go get a new plate,” he muttered, then left the room.
Malon sighed as well, and the rest of the family resumed eating, albeit much quieter than before. It appeared her husband had had a rather unpleasant day. Looked like she’d have to corner him later and figure out what was bothering him.
More and more of his days seemed to be unpleasant lately.
“Twilight honey? How about you, did anything interesting happen at school?” she asked in an effort to break the somewhat awkward silence. Her oldest son had been rather quiet so far.
“Not really,” he said quietly, rubbing his temple.
Malon watched him for a minute, something in his voice setting off her mom instincts. “Is everything okay?” she asked gently, “You’ve hardly touched your food.”
“Just a headache,” he murmured. “I’m okay. And anyway, Legend’s barely touched his food too.”
Malon looked over at her other son, and Legend wrinkled his nose a bit. “I’m not really hungry for meatloaf,” he grumbled, pushing his food around on his plate.
Wild grinned from across the table and leaned in. “Well, it’s leftover night! We have steak, pasta, monster soup, some old seafood fry and that weird greenish-purple stuff in the way back. What are you hungry for?”
Wind coughed. “Marin Koholi~” he singsonged, and Four giggled when Legend snapped his head towards him.
“Wind be quiet—”
“Well you are!” Wild piped up, blinking innocently as Wind grinned at him. “She doesn’t even know you exist, yet you still drool after her every single day—”
Legend growled and banged a hand on the table. “Shut up Wild or I’ll—“
“That’s enough you three, do not shout at the table,” Malon said as she leaned forward, spreading her hands between the boys. “Honey!”
“Listen to your mother!” Time shouted from the kitchen, which immediately shut the three of them up.
Dinner resumed for the third time that evening, the seven occupants of the table quietly eating the food on their plates.
“...Bet he’d be hungry if we were having Marin loaf—”
“That’s IT!”
Legend dove for Wind, who shrieked and ducked out of the way, nearly crashing into Four who was just trying to eat his dinner in peace. The kid ducked, and Wind somehow ended up smushing what was left of Hyrule’s dinner.
“Hey! Your elbow got in my potatoes!”
“Sorry ‘Rule— ah!”
Legend made a grab for Wind, but he used his winds to leap out of the way, then promptly bolted out of the room.
“Boys!”
Legend ignored Malon, narrowing his eyes and turning on Wild instead, who saluted before bolting impossibly fast out of the room after Wind.
“Get back here!” Legend shouted at the two, and Twilight watched with an exasperated look as his brother turned invisible except for his clothes, sprinting after them into the living room.
“That’s enough you three, stop running in the house,” Malon warned as they chased each other, “Sit down and finish your dinner!”
Wind charged back into the room with Legend on his heels, then suddenly crashed into a bright red shield, grabbing his nose as he let out a cry of pain.
“Ow! Hey, no shields!” he cried, and Hyrule crossed his arms.
“You wrecked my potatoes!”
“Well Wild started it!”
“I did not!”
And that started an all-out brawl at the table, Wild jumping at Legend as he attempted to stay invisible and make himself less of a target while Wind frantically avoided them both. Twilight had turned into a wolf and was snapping at all of them, and Hyrule was throwing shields in at random moments, all while Four continued to quietly eat his broccoli.
“Boys sit down! You’re going to hurt someone!“ Malon shouted over the ruckus, but nobody except Four even heard her. “Time!”
In the kitchen Time had just grabbed a non-broken plate, and upon hearing the commotion coming from the dining room, quickly set down his newspaper and prepared to head back in. But a headline from his discarded paper suddenly jumped out at him, and he froze, setting down the plate and picking the news back up.
“‘Darmani Gorro, longtime advocate of superhero rights, is missing’?” he muttered in shock, quickly scanning the article.
Darmani... Blazing Fist...
“Missing... just like Sky?” he whispered, then heard a shriek from the dining room. He set down the paper for the moment and rushed back through the doorway, blinking in surprise at the war zone he’d suddenly found himself in.
“Link! Don’t just stand there!” Malon shouted over the ruckus. She had an arm on Wind and another clutching her son that was currently a wolf, but seemed to be making little difference in anything going on. “I need you to intervene!”
Time floundered a moment, unsure of where to start, before striding forward to where he could reach everyone. Then he grabbed the table and lifted it up, several of his children hanging off the sides and still yelling at each other.
“I’m intervening! Now what?!”
Malon didn’t hear him. “Wind, let go of your brother! Twilight do not lick Legend’s ear— for goodness sakes, stop it!”
Then the clear chime of the doorbell rang through the house.
All eight of them swung their heads at the door and froze, eyes wide.
Then Time set down the table and everyone immediately took their seats like they’d never been fighting at all. “I’ll get it,” Wind said quietly, and got up off his chair while the rest of them tried to fix the table into a more normal-looking mess. They watched in silence as Wind walked over to the front door, and Malon gave Time an uneasy glance.
Had one of the neighbors heard something?
Or worse, seen something?
Wind cautiously pulled the door open and blinked up at the blond-haired man standing on their front porch. A blue scarf was draped around his shoulders, and the moment Wind saw it he launched himself at the man with a cheer.
“Uncle Warriors!” he yelled, and a sigh of relief went up from the table behind him.
“Hey kiddo,” Warriors grinned, catching him and ruffling his hair. “It’s been a bit, huh? Sorry about that, things have been busy. How’re your powers these days?”
“Strong as a hurricane!” Wind declared proudly, then flicked a gust at Warriors’ scarf so it flared out behind him.
“Nice!” he said in an impressed voice, admiring Wind’s work, “I should get you to follow me around all the time and make me look cool.”
Wind beamed, and Warriors turned to the rest of the family, giving them a smile. “Hi Malon. And Twi. And Ledge and Wild and ‘Rule, and Four.” He hesitated for a second. “I forget anyone?”
“Just me,” Time said with a relieved smile, and stood to give Warriors a clap on the shoulder. “Ice of you to drop by.”
Warriors gave him a rather flat look. “Old man, that wasn’t funny the first ninety-nine times you said it, and isn’t funny the hundredth.”
Time smirked. “I’ll hold out hope for a hundred and one.”
“Hey Warriors!” Wild called from the table, then drank and spat an entire mouthful of water at him from across the room before Malon could tell him not to.
Warriors lunged forward and shot some ice from his hands, instantly freezing the water and catching it before it could hit the ground. He held the frozen water out to Wild with a grin, and his nephew took it with a slightly disappointed expression.
“Aw... I like when it shatters.”
Time grabbed his coat from the closet as Warriors made the rounds and asked how everyone was doing, before ruffling Legend’s hair and making him squawk.
“How you doing Ledge? See your carrot obsession hasn’t faded,” he teased with a look at his plate.
“And I see you’re still insufferable as ever, uncle freezer burn,” Legend huffed back, whacking his hand off his head.
“Aw, I love you too.”
Time walked over and gave Malon a quick kiss before he tugged his coat on the rest of the way. “I’ll be back later.”
“Where are you two going?” Malon asked as Warriors pulled Time impatiently to the door.
“It’s Wednesday, remember?”
“Oh, bowling night,” Malon said with a sigh. “I’d forgotten what day it was. Have fun you two, and say hi to Arty for me, will you hon? I want you two to come over for dinner sometime soon.”
Warriors nodded with a smile. “Sure thing Malon. Good night everyone.”
“Bye Wars,” they all chorused back, and Warriors pushed Time the rest of the way out of the house. Malon then turned back towards Wind, who had been quietly trying to slip off his chair in the bustle of the two leaving.
“Don’t think you’ve avoided talking about your trip to the principal’s office, young man,” she said sternly, and Wind froze. “Your father and I are still gonna discuss it.”
Wind crossed his arms and kicked at the floor. “I’m not the only kid who’s been sent to the office you know,” he mumbled, and Malon sighed. What are we going to do with him?
“Other kids don’t have superpowers hon. Now, it’s perfectly normal...”
“Normal?” Legend suddenly cut in, his face still foul from the earlier argument and exchange with his uncle. “What do you know about normal? What does anyone in this insane family know about normal?” he snapped, and Malon frowned.
“Now wait a minute Legend—”
“We just act normal! I wanna be normal!” he said, standing up and dropping his fork with a clang. “I’m sick of being weird! The only normal one out of all of us is Four, and he’s only three feet tall!”
Four shrugged and continued to eat his broccoli.
“Lucky,” Wind grumbled. “about being normal, I mean.”
Malon sighed and rubbed her forehead as Legend slammed his plate down and stomped out of the room, the rest of her sons exchanging looks.
“...Can I be excused?” Twilight asked quietly, and Malon nodded as he slipped away as well.
The perils of leftover night.

Names
(Incredibles au)
————————————————————
The name Link was a funny thing in Time’s life.
He himself had been born with it— or at least he assumed that was how he got it. Never gave it too much thought, but he liked it well enough. Less so when Mido called him “Stink” instead, but Mido was always looking for ways to get a rise out of him when they were kids.
Time had been told several times by the Deku, the old man who ran the home he’d ended up in, that Link was a good name, a courageous name. One with a lot of meaning behind it, but Time never really knew what he meant by that. And when the other kids he lived with noticed his uncanny ability to tell the time, he took on the nickname it came with willingly enough. Mido did start calling him ‘Slime’ then, but it was better than Stink.
Then the Deku died, and thoughts of names slipped Time’s mind. He grew up too fast, becoming a superhero in his own right, and it wasn’t until he was a teenager that names came back into focus.
When his younger brother showed up.
...
Warriors was the first Link to be dropped into Time’s life, though it was no fault of his own.
Time’s first meeting with him had been bloody and traumatizing, and even as an adult, Warriors didn’t talk about that day. Time had found him and his mother— their mother it turned out— being attacked in an alley, and even after he’d removed the threat, she’d been too far gone to save. Their mother hadn’t said much, but she’d recognized Time somehow, and part of her dying words had been to tell Time that she’d named her youngest son Link simply in hopes that it would be enough for Warriors to find Time one day.
Time had spent many a night pondering whether that had been all there was to it. Was it a family name? Had their unknown father been named Link? Had his mother simply regretted giving Time up all of those years ago so intensely that she’d given her other son his name?
Time didn’t know. Warriors didn’t either. Neither of them had many memories of their mother, and barely any things from her.
But with another Link came the need for another nickname, and with a random observation Time barely even thought twice about, the younger Link became Warriors, a bright smile on his small face as he declared the fact to Time.
And while Time likely wouldn’t have chosen to end up with a kid to watch over in his teenage years, Warriors somehow snagged his heart anyway.
And one Link became two.
...
The next Link in Time’s life came with his own nickname.
Sky was small, smaller than Warriors even, but cheerful and sweet for a kid of his age. He became friends with Warriors almost the moment they met, and the two of them thought it was hysterical that they shared a name, especially since neither of them went by it.
Only Sky’s parents actually called him Link, and Time didn’t really know why. He rarely saw them— nobody did too much, Sky included— but he suspected it had to do with the somewhat formal impression they gave off. He was likely wrong though, since whenever they’d return from a trip, Sky would see them coming and bolt, an eager grin on his face as his mother laughed and swung him around, his father kissing his head.
They loved Sky more than anything, and for some reason unknown to anyone else, that included not calling him by a nickname. At least, not in public.
And when Time learned of Sky’s powers, red wings he could use to glide effortlessly through the air, the strangeness surrounding his nickname made a little more sense at least.
Sky’s nickname was more set in stone than some of the other Links Time would later know, though. Sky’s parents died on national television before Sky was even ten, and Time finally realized their frequent absences were simply covering their superhero identities they’d been hiding all this time.
Sky moved in with Time and Warriors, and from then on flat-out refused to be called Link by anyone except his other friend Sun.
It took several years for that policy to relax, even slightly.
But that didn’t matter to Time or Warriors. They both pulled Sky into their odd little family as much as he would let them, and Sky reciprocated, two Links becoming three.
...
The next Link took longer to come, not until after Time truly grew up and got married. But when he did, it was by design, though Time had argued up and down with Malon about it.
He wanted to give their newborn son his own name, not one he would share with both his father and two uncles. Malon wanted to give him a family name, especially since she was so fond of the name Link.
Warriors said they should have named him Fuzzy on account of the full head of hair he was born with, but they both shot that down.
Malon did have her way in the end, though they compromised, with Time picking his middle one. Link Twilight Forester was added to the collection of Links, his middle name given for the time of day he was born in, and Time personally thought his tiny son was the best out of all of them.
He assumed then, that Twilight would be the last Link in their family.
And he had no idea how wrong he was.
...
The next Link was an accident.
Their next son was never supposed to be given the name Link— Malon had a whole list of names ready and waiting, but their lives had taken a turn in the past few years. People were angry and hurting, swept up in a sea of hatred towards supers. Time had been dragged into the middle of it, and when their son was born the very day the law banning them from using their powers to help people was enacted...
Time had been distracted. Malon had been distracted.
And so when the nurse asked them for a name, Time absently told her his own, not realizing she’d meant their son.
“Link? Like the legend?” she’d questioned, and Time had nodded without a second thought.
The mistake wasn’t caught until it was too late to fix, and to Time’s further bewilderment, the papers had their son’s full name as “Link Legend Forester”. Going through the process of changing things would have been more time-consuming and complicated than either he or Malon had the energy for, and they’d wearily admitted defeat.
Legend wasn’t a bad name at least, and Malon softly admitted to him on one of those first days that she actually rather liked it.
Time was inclined to agree, and as he watched their world get flipped into something new, he had a feeling some legends would be needed.
...
Next up was Wind, though the reason for his being named Link was honestly just embarrassing.
After the mistake with Legend, Time and Malon had decided to be extra vigilant in not making any mistakes in regards to names. They had several picked out in case of boy or girl, and Time was determined to get things right this time.
Only... that didn’t happen.
They’d moved since Legend had been born, and had a different doctor than the last time. All of the slight changes that that brought with it were just enough of a distraction that something got misheard, or something got written down wrong, or somebody just hated them— Time actually didn’t know precisely what it was that had happened, in the end.
But when they were handed their baby and congratulated on their son, Link, Time almost banged his head against the wall. Malon broke into laughter, and they admitted defeat again, giving in to having their third son be named the same as his brothers.
Link Windsor Forester was the sixth Link in Time’s life, and Wind’s laughter matched Warriors and Sky’s when they heard about his real name.
...
Wild came next, a Link by surprise.
Time had gotten an unexpected call from Impa one afternoon, and instead of being met with news that his family needed to move again, she asked a favor.
A boy had been found, a super, injured beyond belief. He needed a temporary home, and though Time and Malon were low on both space and energy, they had immediately agreed. Impa had called them because they were the only real option, and they both knew they couldn’t say no.
Impa hadn’t been able to pry a name out of the boy, and for ease’s sake (or perhaps Impa’s odd sense of humor), he’d been given the temporary moniker of Link. Malon laughed when Time told her, but he didn’t think it was so funny.
Or maybe it was, and he was just distracted by the seriousness of the situation.
Nothing much was amusing about poor Link’s situation. Injured and traumatized for merely being born with powers like the rest of them, his quietness took time to fade. But fade it did, and despite his nightmares, he blossomed into a silly, hyper kid, eager to help and enamored with them all.
Impa eventually found out his real name was indeed Link (which Time just... decided not to think about too hard), but Wild was what he went by now, the seventh Link bursting with enthusiasm and energy as Time and Malon added him into their family.
...
The eighth Link was on purpose.
Malon had gone into labor early, too early, enough to make the doctors nervous. They’d swept her off almost the moment they arrived at the hospital, and Time was left to sit, and wait, and pray to anyone who was listening to get his wife and child through this safely.
Those were some of the longest hours of his life, but finally their tiny son came out, red and oddly quiet, but alive. He was whisked off to be cared for, and Time and Malon were left alone to worry, and fret, and... discuss names.
Time suggested Link.
“Really?” Malon had asked in surprise, and he’d nodded, sighing.
“All of his brothers have the name. It would be strange not to give him it.”
Assuming he makes it.
Time had quickly silenced that thought while Malon considered, and finally she agreed, the shadows under her eyes looking a little lighter as she smiled at him.
“He would feel a little left out, wouldn’t he?” she said softly, leaning against Time’s arm. “I suppose he can go by his middle name then, and his first can be Link.”
“Just like the rest of us,” Time murmured, and pulled her close while they waited.
Little Link did make it, to everyone’s relief and joy. And so their family’s eighth Link joined the family: Link Smith Forester, smallest out of all his brothers.
Interestingly enough, he gained another nickname as he grew older— Four, so named for his odd obsession with the number when he was little. Sometimes his brothers got away with calling him Pipsqueak too, but Time generally discouraged that.
Three names was already more than enough.
...
Hyrule was the ninth Link, skittish and scared.
Time’s meeting with him was one of the most dramatic of any of the other Links— a burning building, a terrified super, borderline hypothermia, and a deep distrust and fear that Time could sense the moment he met him.
What he also saw was a little boy who was in desperate need of love and care though, and so he brought him home, and let Malon work her magic. His sons helped with that as well, and they easily pulled him into their chaos, opening him up and finding the person past all the walls. It surprised nobody to learn that his name was Link, and it didn’t take long for him to be given a nickname as well— Hyrule, named for the title of his favorite book of stories.
The title seemed even more fitting when the near-mythical power at Link’s fingertips was revealed, healing a broken wrist without barely a thought.
Afterwards Hyrule tried to flee, terrified that with his powers revealed his autonomy would be taken from him yet again. But Time and Malon coaxed him back, and assured him they didn’t care about any of that. They would love him anyway, no matter what powers came with him.
Hyrule had broken down in grateful and overwhelmed tears, and that was how the ninth Link came into their family; Link Hyrule Forester, finally home.
...
Time would look back on all of those different meetings sometimes, thinking about how different they all were, and yet... similar.
Himself, Warriors, Sky, Twilight, Legend, Wind, Wild, Four, and Hyrule, all of them unique people. More than half of them his children, and all related to him in one way or another. Yet they all boasted the name Link, and most of them were by complete coincidence or accident.
Some people laughed when they heard about the names, and others merely gave strange looks. It was an odd tale for sure, yet despite all the jokes and teasing everyone got for having the same name, Time knew that, like himself, they all loved their shared name. As well as the people who shared it with them.
Each of them had a different relationship with the name, but it was theirs. And maybe it did have a courageous meaning like the old Deku always said. Maybe it didn’t. Maybe it was just a popular name, and a strange fluke that Time had eight people in his life with the same name as himself.
But regardless of any of that, of how they’d come together, how they’d been given the name, whether they were blood related or not... Time was grateful beyond belief that he knew and loved each and every one of them.
Link.

Incredibles AU power swap fic is on ao3 now :]
Summary:
It was supposed to be a fairly simple mission: track down the scientist who’s been doing illegal experiments, break into his lab, and shut his operation down. Easy. Except he’s... a bit more prepared than they expect. And they're exactly the test subjects he’s looking for. ~~~ What started as a small Incredibles AU power swap fic, which somehow gained quite a bit of plot and got rather long.

At time or writing its my birthday so, yay! Prompt: Time and his family blending in during a community event
So I saw “community event” and kind of immediately thought “county fair” for some reason and kinda focused on that, and it’s blending in but it’s not like totally the focus and... well... it’s not exactly what you asked for..? But I hope you enjoy it anyways at least. And happy late birthday :)
(Requests are closed! I’m just finishing up the ones I have)
————————————————————
Twilight couldn’t help being stressed whenever his family all went someplace in public.
It was probably stupid— check that, he knew it was stupid to worry so much, especially when they were here to have fun. And he liked the Ordon county fair, it was one of his favorite things to do in the summer, he just... he worried.
He worried about Wind being so flippant about using his powers in public, since they were so hard to notice. He worried about Four, that he’d get lost or separated from them. He worried that Hyrule would get overwhelmed, he worried that Wild would use his powers without thinking, he worried he worried he worried.
And most of all, he worried they’d be exposed and have to move.
Again.
The last time was still stark in Twilight’s memory, the stress, the worry... the fear. The looks his parents would give each other, and the conversations they’d had that they’d thought were out of Twilight’s earshot (they weren’t).
So yeah. Despite loving the fair, and eating junky food and getting to pet all kinds of animals and see what his grandpa was showing this year... the moment they got there, Twilight was on edge.
Wild made to run off the second they all walked through the gates, but their father snagged his shirt, clearing his throat.
“Ground rules,” he reminded with a raised eyebrow, and Wild and his siblings sighed as they moved to a spot where they wouldn’t be overheard by anybody. “You remember them?”
“Don’t go off alone, if you see anything suspicious come find you or Mom, meet back at lunchtime at the barn where Grandpa is,” they all rattled off, and Time nodded approvingly.
“And absolutely no powers,” Malon added with a pointed look at Wind.
Wind grumbled and kicked at the dirt, but nodded, and Twilight felt a little bit of his anxiety ease.
“All right. Go have fun,” Time said with a faint smile, and they all split and ran, Wild grinning as he dragged Hyrule off to who-knows-where.
Wind ran after them, and Twilight hesitated, unsure whether to tag along or stay with his parents. Wild could get into all sorts of trouble, though Hyrule wasn’t likely to go along with anything too insane. But with Wind as another influence...
“You want to see if Grandpa is here yet?” Legend asked him with a poke, and Twilight swallowed back his worry. He was here to have fun. He needed to stop worrying about what his siblings were doing, and relax.
He breathed out and nodded at the question, and Twilight and Legend went off towards the livestock, glancing back just long enough to see Time put Four up on his shoulders so he could see over the swarms of people.
At least he probably didn’t need to worry about that group.
Legend and Twilight wandered through the fairgrounds, steadily making their way towards the big barns where all the livestock were kept. There weren’t really any games or food in this area, but it wasn’t boring by any means; lots of companies had stalls along this path, all eager to advertise, and Twilight got three free pens and a cup with the Malo Mart logo printed all over it. Legend ended up with some pens as well, along with a paper fan, a stress ball, a pair of sunglasses that looked like they would fall apart if anyone looked at them wrong, and a balloon, somehow.
He tied it happily on his wrist as they finally reached the barns, and Twilight looked around, the familiar sounds of mooing cows and smell of hay easing the anxiety still twisting his stomach.
“Heya Twi!” a cheerful voice called over the noise of the barn, and Twilight turned towards it, perking up at the sight of the blonde girl waving at him.
He and Legend worked their way through the stalls and people, and Twilight grinned as the girl ran up and squeezed them both, her face excited.
“Hey Ilia,” Twilight said, and she pulled back, still grinning.
Ilia lived in Ordon proper, rather than the outskirts where his grandpa’s ranch was, but he and his brothers often ran around with her whenever they visited. She was a good friend, even if she could be a bit intense sometimes.
“Howdy boys. You here to see the animals this year? Ordon ranch has some blue ribbons in the making, I know it!” Ilia said excitedly, and the goat behind her let out a bleat. She turned around and petted it, and Twilight did the same, the goat happily rubbing against his hand. “The goats miss having you around, Twilight. You need to visit again!”
“It hasn’t been that long. And grandpa really doesn’t have room for all of us,” Twilight pointed out, and she shrugged, giving the goat’s nose a pat.
“Well it feels like it’s been ages since you last came to Ordon. And what’s so bad about being a little cramped for a bit?”
“You’ve never had to share a bed with Wild,” Legend snorted, balloon waving as he crossed his arms. “He couldn’t keep still if his life depended on it. Plus he always hogs the blankets.”
“He’s not that bad,” Twilight interjected as Ilia laughed, and Legend rolled his eyes.
“That’s just because you can get him to stay still with your—”
He cut off rather suddenly, and Twilight froze, well aware Legend had been about to talk about his wolf form. The anxiety roared back as Ilia looked between them, and he felt his heart start to pound.
She’s going to find out she’s going to get her mind wiped we’re going to have to move again we need to leave or she’s—
“With his what? Ilia asked, and Legend cleared his throat.
“Oh you know, he has his ways. Most of them involve sitting on Wild,” he shrugged, and Ilia laughed again, quickly moving on from the hiccup. Twilight swallowed, trying to calm his racing heart, and based on the look Legend gave him, he could probably hear it thudding.
What was wrong with him? Usually he could handle little mistakes like that with ease, and he’d just frozen up?
Twilight swallowed again, stomach still twisting itself into knots. Why was he so nervous?
“Hey boys!”
“Grandpa!” Legend grinned in return, and Twilight calmed down somewhat as their grandpa came up and engulfed both of them in a hug.
“Ah it’s been too long since I’ve seen you kids. You’re shooting up like weeds!” Talon chuckled, patting them both on the back. “You’ve come to see our prize-winning horses I assume?”
“And cows, and goats, and donkeys, chickens, ducks, ponies... basically anything you got,” Legend said, nudging Twilight with a smirk.
Twilight mustered up a smile. “Yeah. Epona’s foals still your stars?”
“As always. One’s already won a ribbon. This way,” Talon said as his mustache upturned in a smile, and the two boys followed, Ilia joining them.
Twilight calmed down again as they walked around the barn with their grandpa and Ilia, petting animals and saying hello to other farmers. Ilia got called away before they reached Lon Lon’s stalls, but she promised she’d come talk to them again later.
Epona’s foals were still sweet and feisty as ever. She’d had one more recently, and the little thing seemed to especially love Twilight, bumping her head against his chest. Twilight smiled and patted her, and she let out a shrill little whinny, prancing as much as she could in her stall.
“Just like her mother, that one,” Talon chuckled. “She’s just here to get used to the crowds this year, but we’ll have her winning ribbons soon enough. We’ve been calling her Little Epona. With Malon’s approval, of course.”
“Well she’s definitely like Epona,” Twilight said, and hummed something under his breath, the little filly going still at the notes. Her ears flicked, and when Twilight finished, she whinnied excitedly, nuzzling at his hair.
He laughed, and Legend snorted, giving the horse a few gentle pets before pulling back. “I’m going to go see if that one guy has the baby bunnies again this year, I’ll be right over there,” he pointed, and Twilight nodded. As long as he could see Legend, he didn’t mind them separating a little.
Legend strolled away, balloon bobbing behind him, and Talon turned to look at Twilight, a thoughtful expression on his face.
“You doing all right Twilight?” he asked. Twilight shrugged, looking back at Little Epona. He didn’t really want to talk about it.
“Okay, I guess,” he said, ignoring the lump still in his stomach and the anxiety keeping him on edge.
“You sure, son? You keep lookin’ around like someone’s fixin’ to take a bite out of you.”
“No, I’m great,” Twilight tried to say in a more upbeat voice, but even he could tell it fell flat.
Talon raised an eyebrow.
“Now that’s a deflection if I ever heard one. What’s eatin’ you, son?” he asked, and Twilight leaned back against the stall, still petting Little Epona. The petting motion helped soothe him a little, and he took a minute to respond.
“I’m just... I guess I’m nervous,” he admitted in a mumble, his stomach giving itself a twist. “We haven’t all been anywhere this crowded since the last time we had to move, and I’m...”
Twilight trailed off, and Little Epona nuzzled at his arm.
“You’re worried it’s gonna happen again,” Talon guessed, and Twilight nodded. “Ah, kiddo. You gotta understand, all of that isn’t something you can control.”
“Exactly, that’s the problem,” Twilight said, and felt his chest squeezing tighter. “I can’t control it. Something might happen any moment where one of us will have to use our powers, and then everyone will see and they’ll get their memories wiped and we’ll have to move again and—”
“Whoa whoa, hold your horses Twi,” his grandpa said, putting his hands on his shoulders. “Calm down.”
“But—”
“Breathe,” Talon said firmly, and Twilight breathed in, then slowly let it out. “Thank you. Panicking never did anyone a lick of good.”
Twilight looked down at his shoes, and his grandpa was quiet for a few moments, his hands still on Twilight’s shoulders.
Little Epona nickered softly, and Twilight leaned back, going back to petting her neck.
“I used to worry about your mother’s powers being discovered,” his grandpa said finally, and Twilight snuck a look at him. Talon was watching him with a look both fond and wistful on his face, and glanced over at Little Epona. “She’d go off to school, and I’d worry she’d accidentally use her horse-soothing voice without thinking, try and talk to some deer that’d run by, do things people aren’t s’pposed to be able to do... any number of things.”
“How did you stop?” Twilight asked softly.
Talon hummed. “I don’t know that I ever fully did. Malon was a bit of a wild thing when she was young... if she’d wanted to use her powers in front of people, I doubt I could’ve stopped her.”
His eyes went distant for a moment, then he sighed, and turned and put a hand on Twilight’s shoulder again.
“But I trusted her to listen to me anyway. I took her by her word, and she took me at mine. That was all we could do.
“I guess what I’m tryin’a say is... you can’t control your circumstances, kiddo,” Talon said gently. “You just have to accept whatever life throws at you, and go from there. It’s not under your control if something happens where one of your family members’ll need to use their powers, or even if they do by accident. The only thing you can control is how you react and respond.”
His face softened, and he squeezed Twilight’s shoulder.
“Have you talked to your folks about any of this?”
Twilight shuffled his feet. “...Not really.” He didn’t want to add something else to their numerous worries. Especially something as dumb as being a little anxious.
“Well I would bet it would help,” Talon said with a smile. “I’m willing to be a listenin’ ear, but your folks will probably have a better solution than I would. And I know it’s hard, but you’re too young to be worryin’ your head off the way you are. Try and take it easy, son. You’re here to have fun, after all. Try and take a break from your worries.”
Twilight gave him a nod in response, not completely convinced, but... feeling a little better all the same. Grandpa always had a way of doing that.
Talon gave him a quick hug, and Twilight squeezed him in return as Legend wandered back their direction.
“All the guy had was turtles, can you believe it? No rabbits, just turtles. Who brings turtles to a fair?” Legend griped, then looked at Twilight and his grandpa as they pulled back. “...Everything okay?”
“Yeah,” Twilight replied, and Talon patted his shoulder. “Do you want to go see if Wild won anything at those games he always tries before we have to eat lunch?”
Legend grinned. “Boy do I. How long before he loses his patience and gets Wind to help him cheat, do you think?”
Twilight sighed. “He probably already has.”
Somehow though, the thought didn’t bring with it nearly as much anxiety as it would have earlier.
“See you boys later,” Talon waved, and Legend and Twilight waved goodbye as they left the barn, but not before giving Little Epona some goodbye pats. The filly whinnied happily as Twilight said goodbye, and he smiled as he and Legend went to go find Wild.
His stomach still felt tight as they walked out of the barn, but Twilight put it firmly from his mind, deciding he wasn’t going to let his anxiety ruin his day.
Sure he was still nervous. And worried about his family, and what the day might bring and what the future would hold. But he was going to enjoy himself regardless.
A faint strain of accordion music drifted through the air, mixing with laughter from somewhere nearby, and Twilight smiled as Legend excitedly nudged his shoulder.
He wouldn’t let worry over the unknown ruin the day for him.

IAU gang if you could have chosen your power at birth what would it be? Or would you stick with the one you’ve got?
Time: I don't know what I would choose. And besides, I don't think letting people decide would be wise.
Warriors: well I'm fond of ice of course, but how about invincibility? I think it'd be nice to be bullet-proof.
Sky: *wince* yeahhh that would be handy. I mean I think I would still choose exactly what I've got, but I can think of a lot of powers that would be useful to have.
Twilight: well I'm fine with mine, I don't think I would ever switch.
Legend: *snort* of course you'd say that. I'm keeping the invisibility but ditching the rabbit. I'd maybe pick flying as another power, that seems like it'd be useful. Or maybe shields like 'Rulie.
Wild: I can't imagine not having my speed, but also... laser eyes.
Wind: oh wow I was gonna say I'm fine with mine but I also want laser eyes now. Ooh, wait actually the ability to breathe underwater would be sick >:D
Hyrule: I'd keep mine, I can't imagine not being able to heal... though some other ones would maybe be cool to try. Like maybe wings like Sky? Just not permanently.
Four: I don't know what I'd pick but I think I'd choose something a little less... crazy. Maybe something sort of like Dad's, or maybe teleportation. Or maybe shrinking, that would be neat.
Malon: I could never have something else, what would Epona do if she couldn't talk to me? Goodness she'd be cranky.
Malon: that being said, extreme flexibility always seemed like it would be useful.

What would the IAU boys do if there was a burglar inside their house?
Minorly freak out (or majorly, or not freak out at all depending on who it is), then either get their parents or decide it’s not that big a deal and go after the poor guy themselves. It depends who finds the robber...
Twilight would just pretend he’s like a guard dog and just scare him off— and if that doesn’t work, he probably resorts to crazy barking (he’d only bite if his siblings were in trouble).
Legend would turn invisible and sneak up on the guy and pretend to be a ghost, trip him, make creepy things happen etcetera until the guy freaks out and leaves. Makes things “float around” and does creepy noises all while his brothers are trying not to crack up in the background.
Wild just runs in and smacks the robber and then runs away again so fast he doesn’t know what happened, and keeps it up, also steals his weapon if he’s got one, and trips him and is just generally really annoying to deal with.
Hyrule wouldn’t even hesitate, he’d put a shield up and go after the robber no matter what he threw at him. Or he’d put the robber in a shield and roll him out the door and be like “goodbye so long never come here again!”
Wind does similar stuff as Legend and Wild, he’s just a nuisance with his wind, blowing the guy’s pants down and making him drop things. Probably does something stupid and runs right up to him, and Twilight has to haul him back and be like “HE HAS A GUN WIND CAN WE BE AT LEAST A LITTLE CAUTIOUS”
Four, before his powers show themselves, concocts some sort of clever plan that uses his sibling’s powers to chase the guy off or keep him trapped until they can call the police; after he has his powers, it’s mostly the same, but he also takes into account his own powers, and probably uses the four of himself to overwhelm the robber.
As for Time and Malon?
Malon grabs a frying pan and knocks the robber over the head, and Time just uses his powers enough to make his eyes glow in the dark and scares the crap out of the guy

I wanted to ask what the Zeldas powers are in IAU? Maybe there's a list I missed, but because they don't tend to feature as heavily as the boys, I haven't been able to keep them straight in my head lol
I think I made a list a while ago but I have nooooo clue where it went XD And I don’t blame you lol, I seriously need to write more with them. I have a bunch of ideas that feature Zeldas, I just keep getting ones with the boys too and those tend to be what I end up working on 😔 But anyway, messy list!
Sun (Sky’s Zelda): her powers are a little weird, but basically she can use music (via either instrument or her voice) and cause different effects/attacks. sort of like Sheik’s attacks in hw.
Artemis (Warriors’s Zelda): intangibility, the power to go through any solid object and make herself completely untouchable. She can also make other things intangible, but it takes as much energy as it would to pick up that item (so a purse or something? Easy. A person? Harder, but still doable. A building? ...nope.)
Lullaby (Time’s Zelda): she’s powerless, but don’t underestimate her, you’ll regret it.
Dot (Four’s Zelda): she can shrink all tiny, down to the size of a mouse :)
Dawn & Aurora (Hyrule’s Zeldas): they both give off the vibe of being powerless to me, Dawn especially, but I wouldn’t be adverse to maybe giving one of them something. Probably Aurora between the two.
Dusk (Twilight’s Zelda): I’m thinking she’s powerless— that or she has a fairly understated power. Especially since in canon while she’s willing to fight, her whole thing was sort of the fact that she chose not to in order to save her people. Idk.
Fable (Legend’s Zelda): ...I’m admittedly unsure of. I was thinking of having her be like that Voyd girl in the second movie, but I don’t know if it makes sense for her to have a portal-y power or not. Would something more like Zelda’s smash bros attacks be better? Light powers? Something entirely different?? I dunno. She still needs work.
Tetra (Wind’s Zelda): I’m thinking she’s powerless, but her fighting skills are on point. And later she gets a gun.
Flora (Wild’s Zelda): I’m sliiiightly holding off on, but I kind of have two options for her? The first is making her powerless, but be fascinated by powers, and geek out over supers and get all knowledgeable about their powers. The other option is maybe powers sorta like the rewind function in totk, since she seems to have some kind of connection there. But again, idk...

Random question for no reason at all—do you have a list anywhere of your IAU characters' super names? I saw recently that Legend was called Infrared (which is a BANGER superhero name) and I feel like I've forgotten which others you've mentioned!
I looked around, but I don’t think I’ve actually ever posted a list?? Huh, surprising.
That’s probably because I have several that I’m either still deciding or have multiple options I’m trying to weed through still, but regardless, here’s an admittedly incomplete list of who’s names I’ve mentioned before :)
Time: Fierce Deity
Malon: Malanya
Warriors: Cryonis
Sky: Crimson Loftwing
Twilight: nothing yet
Legend: Infrared
Wild: Champion*
Hyrule: nothing yet
Wind: Hurricane*
Four: Prism*
Sun (Sky’s Zelda): Songbird*
Artemis (Warriors’s Zelda): Ethereal
...
*these are ones I’m using somewhat tentatively. I might change them or edit them a little at some point, but they’re good placeholders for now. Other characters have superhero names too, but they’re either minor ones or I haven’t decided them yet either XD

Aaaaaaa I saw you wanted us to send you asks sooo I have a question >:)
How would Time and Malon from the IAU survive a whole day at the beach with all the boys?
Or a whole day in the snow? :o
I want your version of the mandatory beach/snow episode in your AU muhehe 😎✨
(Answer this if you want to!!! Have a nice night/day!! <3 )
I actually have some vague ideas for a future IAU beach fic, but I’m saving it for when I’ve pared down the wips I’ve got XD but I will gladly explain the ideas I’ve got!
I figure the family doesn’t go on vacations much, not big ones anyway, since the money is just too much for them. But either Time and Malon finally save something up, or they win a contest, or something like that happens where they finally get a chance to bring everyone to the beach.
The car trip is fun of course. Basically the one Roadtrip fic I wrote, but even longer XD I figure Warriors and Sky come along too, so there’s even more chaos going on.
Hyrule’s never seen the ocean before and is amazed, as is Four (and Aryll, if she’s there. She also amasses an army of seagulls). There’s lots of just random moments I have in mind lol— sand castle contest, water shenanigans, it turns out Wind has a shellfish allergy, somebody gets homesick... volleyball showdown with Time Wars and Sky on one team, and Malon Artemis and Sun on the other. Guess who wins hehe. And of course there have to be some slightly more serious moments, and maybe somebody needs to be saved or something, I don’t know.
But I have a lot of ideas >:)

Are important NPCs from every Zelda game jut citizens of IAU? If so it'd be fun to see Kafei and Anju actually getting a happy ending both as adults in a universe. Also most people consider Kafei to be Link's counterpart in Termina, at least partly because he's the first non-Link character you ever play as in an LoZ game, but if you went with that thought and your trend of Links being supers, you could make Kafei a super married to someone normal. Now I'm gonna go dark because these two aren't allowed to be happy in any universe, what if Kafei was one of the first supers that Dark used to test his creations. I know you don't normally do stories focused around anyone outside the Chain, but if you ever did just write ensemble pieces worldbuilding IAU this would be a neat idea to explore.
Also I know in the movie the Incredibles takes place in an AU approximately in the equivalent of the 1950's-60's, is that when it takes place in your IAU? Also if so how long had supers been a staple of society before being made illegal. Like had Hylians lived alongside active supers for 100 years, 200? 1000? Or had it only been a few decades before they decided they were too scared to let supers operate.
Sorry it's the middle of the night and my brain is whirring at 100mph and I just gotta get these thoughts out so my mind can shut up
Yeah I have a lot of npcs just stuck in random places in this au: most of them are regular citizens and things, but a few are supers (like Mikau for example). I actually haven’t gotten to the Kafei part in MM yet, and aside from the manga (which is dubiously canon you know) I don’t know much of what happens at that part, so I’m going to put discussion of him and Anju on hold for now. Those do sound like neat ideas though 👀
Yeah, this au takes place vaguely in the 1950’s-60’s, but since it’s also loz, I’m playing a little loose with specifics and things. It’s mostly just where they are technology-wise— like they don’t have cellphones, or home computers or anything (but they do have tv, wow!) The movies show some higher technology, but most of that is owned by supers or the insanely rich, so obviously not everyone has access to such technology.
I’ll admit I haven’t thought about it! I honestly don’t know how long supers have been around in society. If I had to guess I’d have to say it’s definitely been more than a few decades, probably closer to 100-200 years, maybe longer. It’s one of those things the movie doesn’t go into at all, so I have to sort of guess XD

All right, who’s ready for some Incredibles au Wild backstory?
This could also just be read as any old modern au (with super powers hah), but either way I hope you all enjoy :]
————————————————————
Time yawned, rubbing a hand across his face as he stepped over a basket of unfolded laundry on his way to the kitchen.
It had been a bit of a late night last night. A loud thunderstorm had gone through, terrifying Legend and sending him bolting into his and Malon’s room to huddle under the covers. They’d only just started to calm him down when Twilight had come in and said the thunder was hurting his ears, and then a particularly loud crash had woken Wind and gotten him crying as well.
Not much sleep happened after that.
Time yawned again, opening the fridge and pouring himself a glass of milk. He took a sip, and the cold beverage shocked him awake a little, but he still felt groggy, even though it was close to two in the afternoon.
The phone suddenly rang and he sighed, setting down his cup before heading into his office to answer it. If was Warriors or Sky with a harebrained idea to go out and do something fun, he was hanging up.
“Hello?” he asked as he picked up the receiver, and blinked in surprise at the voice that answered him.
He was suddenly very awake.
“Time. Can you talk?” Impa’s voice came through, slightly tinny. “It won’t take long.”
He leaned back and looked out at where Twilight and Legend were curled up and napping together in the living room, small pink rabbit nestled on top of a wolf cub. Malon was dozing on the couch close by with Wind in her arms, and he leaned back in with a soft smile.
“Yes. What is it?” He frowned suddenly. “Did something happen? Do we... need to move again?”
“No, nothing like that,” Impa assured, and Time couldn’t help his small sigh of relief. “It’s a problem I think you can help with though.”
“What do you need?”
Papers rustled on the other end of the line, and Impa cleared her throat.
“Lately a local police station has been getting reports of a particularly violent gang, who’s been targeting certain... individuals. Because of that our department has been keeping a sharp eye on it, but the police have since made significant progress in stopping them.”
She took a deep breath, and Time heard more papers being shuffled.
“But they haven’t been able to be everywhere. Yesterday they stumbled across another group of them, but they were too slow. They’d already gotten another victim... another super.”
Time’s stomach lurched as Impa sighed. “The group escaped, but the super they had...”
She hesitated, and Time’s grip on the receiver tightened. “Yes?”
“He’s only a boy. About five we think. And based on the condition the police found him in... the group was trying to kill him. And not quickly.”
Time breathed in sharply and leaned back, running a hand down his face.
Right around Legend’s age.
“Is he okay?” he asked softly.
“I won’t go into specifics but he was in bad shape when he was found,” Impa reported in a quiet voice, “His left side is covered in burns, and there’s possibly permanent damage to one ear. He’s been unconscious the entire time as well, and we’re not sure when he’s going to wake up.”
“What can I do?” Time breathed, his stomach roiling with anger and nausea. His power was biting at his fingertips, and he let it simmer a bit. “You called me because you need me, right?”
“Yes, but not you specifically,” Impa explained, “He needs somewhere to stay. He’s in our custody because of what he is, but we can’t find records of him in any system. We have no clue who he is or where he’s from, and until we do, we need somewhere for him to stay.”
“And you think my house is a good place for him to do it,” Time said knowingly, and he can almost hear Impa nod.
“Exactly. He’ll be around other kids, and supers, whom he won’t have to hide his powers from, and be in a much less stressful environment than anywhere else we could send him. And if something goes wrong, you all will be able to help him, or get him to someone who can.”
Impa went quiet for a second.
“I wouldn’t ask this if I didn’t think it was the best option Time,” she said eventually. “I know it’s sudden, and a lot to ask, especially since you’re already pressed for space. It’s possible he’ll attract unwanted attention as well.“
Time thought it over for a couple minutes, tapping his finger on the arm of his chair.
“...are there any other options?” he asked, and Impa sighed.
”Honestly? Not really.”
“That’s fine, I just wanted to know,” Time replied. He breathed in, then out, calming his anger at the poor kid’s situation. “I’ll have to discuss it with Malon. But as long as she agrees my answer is yes.“
“Excellent,” Impa said, and Time could hear the smile in her voice. “I’ll wait for your confirmation of course, but we both know Malanya has a heart softer than hay. She can’t ignore anyone in need.”
Time smiled. “Neither does the Fierce Deity. When should we expect you?”
“I don’t know for sure. As soon as he’s awake and healed enough, but we don’t know when that will be.”
“Of course. Thank you for calling Impa,” Time said. “We’ll get ready.”
“Thank you Time, for doing this,” Impa said genuinely, “you’re a good man. We’ll help provide you with some things for him, and I’ll call again when I have more information.”
She then hung up, and Time stood to go ask his wife about their new houseguest.
(...)
Malon immediately agreed to the boy (he’d been given the temporary name of Link, because of course he had) living with them when he asked what she thought.
He actually had to stop her from calling Impa and demanding information on the thugs who burned Link, her face red with anger after he explained what happened. She wiped a few tears from her eyes as he calmed her down and convinced her not to send a herd of animals out looking for them, then let out a tired sigh.
“All we ever did was try to protect them,” she murmured sadly, leaning against him, “and this is what it’s come to.”
Time held her back, and wished he could do more.
They got to work preparing for another kid in their house, signing any forms Impa gave them, (apparently the fact that the case involved supers made some things a bit of a grey area) and somehow making room in their already-small-for-five-people home. Legend and Twilight helped where they could with a bright and incessant curiosity about the whole thing, but were a little confused on what exactly was going on.
“So it’s like... grandpa visiting?” Legend asked in confusion when they tried to explain it to him, his nose scrunching up. “Or uncles?”
“Sort of honey, but it’ll be for a longer time then when they come,” Malon said, and Legend tilted his head.
“Why?”
“Link needs somewhere to stay, so he’s staying with us,” Malon answered, but Legend’s expression stayed confused.
“But we don’t know him?” he asked, and Time sighed.
“Yes Legend, but Link was in an accident, and needs somewhere to stay for a while while they find his family,” he patiently explained, “so he’ll be staying with us.”
Twilight frowned from his seat. “Accident? Is he hurt?”
“Yes, he was hurt,” Time nodded, and both his son’s faces fell, “but he’s getting better, that’s why he’s staying with us. So he has a good place to get better in.”
Legend perked up. “So we gotta help him feel better!” he said firmly, ears twitching. Twilight nodded enthusiastically, and Time let out a chuckle.
“Yes, you two can help. Just remember he won’t be used to us at first, so no overwhelming him,” he said, leveling them both with a serious look.
They both nodded seriously back, and Time knew they’d do their best.
(...)
Impa called again nearly two weeks later, stating that Link was awake and healed enough to stay with them.
They’d hoped he’d be able to tell them something about himself or where he was from, but he didn’t answer any questions they asked him, to a point where they weren’t sure he actually remembered anything from before the incident. He didn’t tell them his name either, though he seemed fine enough with Link.
He was also one of the quietest kids Time had ever met.
When Impa brought him over, he didn’t say a single word, his hand holding tightly to hers. Time took in the angry lines splayed across the side of his face, some still bandaged, and felt his anger broil as the power in him surged to do something about this, to fix this.
But he pushed it away, and gave Link a gentle smile instead.
“Link, this is Time and Malon, you’re going to be staying with them for a little while,” Impa explained, and Link flicked his eyes up at the two of them. His gaze lingered on Time’s scar over his eye as he looked at them, and Time returned his stare with another smile.
Impa left, and Malon took over, gently sweeping Link inside and showing him around. He didn’t say a word the entire tour, looking around the house with a quietly curious look in his eyes.
Sky had offered to take Twilight and Legend out for the afternoon so Link could settle in a bit, and he seemed to be comfortable enough with his new lodgings, poking around in the backyard, and watching Malon make lunch. He’d settled in the living room as the sun set, and was quietly coloring a picture when the door opened and Time’s sons came crashing in.
“Hi!”
Link jumped at the sudden hello, and shrank back behind Malon as Legend charged up, peering at him with a nervous sort of curiosity. He was certainly an interesting kid to look at, what with his bright pink hair and blue hat.
Legend waved, and Link waved hesitantly back, then returned the grin he gave him with a barely-there smile.
“My name’s Link but everyone calls me Legend,” he proudly proclaimed, then pointed behind him as Twilight walked up. “An’ that’s Twilight. He’s also Link, and so is Wind too, but he’s a baby and isn’t as intresting. You get to share our room!”
Link nodded, probably remembering back to when they showed him the bedroom.
“Nice to meet you,” Twilight said with a big smile, holding out a hand. Link stared at it, then hesitantly took it, letting Twilight wiggle his arm around in the way kids do when shaking hands. “You wanna see something cool?”
Link nodded, looking curious.
Twilight grinned at him, then fell to the floor, dark shadows falling around him. Link gasped, but Legend shushed him, watching his expression closely. Then the shadows dispersed, and Twilight stood there wagging his tail, tongue lolling out of his mouth.
Time looked over to see Wild’s reaction, and saw near literal stars in his eyes.
“Big puppy,” he said in a surprised voice, and Malon and Time exchanged little smiles at hearing him speak. It was the first he’d spoken all day, and while his voice was small and whispery, it at least confirmed he could talk.
There were a few lines near his throat that had made Time wonder.
Legend giggled at Link’s words, resting an arm on Twilight. “He’s not that big. Not yet anyway. We looked up ‘pictures of big wolves at the lieberry, an’ Twilight says he’s gonna be bigger then dad someday.”
“I don’t know if he’ll be quite that big,” Time said with a raised eyebrow, but Legend ignored him.
Link stared in wonder at Twilight’s wolf form, then hesitantly reached out a hand. Twilight ignored it and bounded forward instead, licking him and madly wagging his tail.
Time was about to tell him not to be so rough, but Link burst into laughter, patting Twilight on the head while trying to avoid his attempts to lick him.
Legend looked smug, grinning as Twilight managed to lick Link’s face. Normally Malon would scold him for licking people, but Time figured she’d make an exception this time, and this had obviously been their boys’ plan all along.
He looked over at her and saw a fond look on her face as Link and Twilight tussled a bit, and smiled to himself.
(...)
Link had been with them a week when Time first heard the crying.
He’d already been having a restless night, and frowned, opening his eye as he sat up in bed. It was a quiet, barely perceptible noise, and if he hadn’t already been half awake he likely wouldn’t have heard it.
Malon shifted a bit as he got up out of bed, but stayed asleep, letting out a single sleepy murmur before falling still again. Time smiled at her then stood to follow the sound that had roused him. He had thought at first that it might have been Wind, but when he checked he was lying dead asleep, thumb in his mouth.
He followed the noise down the hall to his boys’ room, but he paused upon reaching the door, noticing that their lamp was on.
“...ink, wake up Link, it’s okay, it was just a dream,” Twilight’s voice whispered, and Time heard a hiccupy sob.
He took the utmost care in cracking the door open without making any noise, peering in at the sight inside. Link sat hunched into a ball on his bed, wrapped in a blanket and shaking as tears dripped down his face. Twilight was sitting next to him, wringing his hands anxiously, but Legend was still lying in his own bed. He must have somehow still been asleep.
“Link?” Twilight whispered after a minute, his eyes still wide with worry.
Link just buried his head in his knees.
Time took that as a signal it was time to intervene, and was about to enter the room when Twilight’s face took on a determined look. He leaned closer to Link, pulling his blanket more snuggly around his shoulders, then turned into a wolf, making the younger boy start in surprise.
Twilight whined and nudged him, and Link sniffled, wiping some tears from his eyes with a fist.
He held out a shaking hand, and Twilight bumped it with his forehead, keeping it there until Link began to softly pet him.
“Thanks,” he whispered eventually, and Twilight curled around him, letting Link bury his head in his fur. Time stood silently in the doorway for several more long minutes, watching as Link’s breathing slowly evened out and his tears began to slow.
He waited until he was sure Link had fallen asleep again before pushing the door open and slowly walking in, standing by the side of the bed with a small sigh.
Twilight’s ear twitched and he opened a sleepy eye at him, but Time only gave his ears a gentle rub.
“Go back to sleep pup. Thank you,” he whispered, and Twilight’s tail thumped once before he closed his eye once again. Time gave him one last pat, than ran a hand over Link’s head as well. He brushed some of the blonde hair out of the kid’s face, and felt his heart squeeze at the tear tracks still on his cheeks.
“Sleep well boys,” he murmured gently, then turned off the lamp and headed back to bed.
That night was only the first of many where Time heard Link crying because of a nightmare, but he soon realized Twilight was much faster at calming him down afterwards than either him or Malon.
And he always got to Link first.
No matter how quickly Time or Malon would slip out of bed, by the time they reached the boys’ bedroom, Twilight would already be sitting next to Link and comforting him, usually as a wolf. Legend would sometimes sit next to them as well if he happened to get woken up, and Time would often wake to find them all sleeping in one big pile in the morning.
...sometimes in his and Malon’s bed instead of Link’s.
The three had near immediately become inseparable, and Twilight and Legend had even given Link a nickname at some point to avoid confusion. Which Time didn’t quite get the reasoning behind until he went outside one afternoon, and found the newly-christened Wild looking down at him from their roof.
It turned out Wild loved to climb.
Everything.
Bookshelves, tables, fences, beds— if was even a bit taller then he was, Wild climbed it, and climbed it fast.
“Well he’s definitely adjusted to living here,” Warriors laughed as Wild smiled at them from the top of the rather tall tree in their backyard.
“No doubt about it,” Time sighed, and went to ask Sky if he’d help retrieve him.
Wild still wasn’t the best at climbing down.
(...)
The weeks went by quickly, and the longer Wild stayed in their house, the more it felt like he’d always been there; peering up at whatever Malon was making for dinner, poking around in the yard with Twilight, excitedly showing Wind a frog he’d found.
He certainly didn’t feel like a temporary guest anymore, and Time had to keep reminding himself he most likely had a family out there to go back to, one that was probably worried sick and doing everything they could to find him.
For some reason the thought didn’t make him feel much better.
Wild’s burns had mostly faded to waxy-looking scars by now, and the amount of nightmares he had had been steadily going down as well. He still didn’t speak all that much, but Time wasn’t sure if it was the pain that sometimes bothered him, or the way he’d always been. Not that it much mattered whether he talked or not, Time would love him even if he was completely mute.
What concerned him more was that he still hadn’t shown them his power.
Wild knew they were supers of course, aside from seeing Twilight transform he’d seen Legend turn invisible sometimes, and he’d even seen Wind show some small abilities. Time knew Wild’s refusal to use his own stemmed from being attacked, and while he‘d never push him, it concerned him that the kid simply didn’t use his powers at all.
It wasn’t good to keep that kind of thing bottled up. Time knew that well.
So he tried to ask him about them one morning, making sure the question was gentle. But Wild had shrunk in his seat, merely shaken his head, and been quieter than normal the rest of the day.
Malon had tried then, taken Wild up to her father’s ranch and shown him how she could call horses as well as understand them. And despite how thrilled Wild seemed by the demonstration, he still didn’t reveal his own.
Until Legend finally cornered him.
“You have a power right?” Legend said one rainy weekend when they were stuck inside, shoving his face up close to Wild’s. The two had been playing a game of some sort with Wind, but he’d gone off for a nap a little while ago, and Legend now had nothing to occupy himself. “What’s it? Can I see?”
Time didn’t turn his head from the book he was reading, but he flicked his eye up at where the two were sitting. Wild looked nervous, and leaned away from Legend while shaking his head.
“Don’t want to” he whispered, and Legend frowned.
“But you’re ‘lowed to here,” he said with a wave of his hand, “we’re at home. Powers are allowed at home but not anywhere else,” he said like he was reciting it from memory. “It’s totally okay!”
Wild still shook his head, and Legend crossed his arms.
“Nobody’ll see Wild, it’s safe! Look!”
Then he leapt up in the air and turned into a little pink bunny rabbit.
Wild gasped, and immediately kneeled down to look at him, eyes huge. Legend had shown him his invisibility powers before, but he’d never done this.
He hesitantly reached out a hand, and Legend hopped closer, letting him run a finger through his fur.
“How’d you do that?” he said in wonder, and Legend thumped a leg.
“It’s one of my powers. I toldja, it’s safe here! I can do this and nobody even cares!” he explained, then hopped around a bit. “But now that I’ve showed you mine you gotta show me yours. ‘S only fair.”
Wild looked around the living room anxiously, but Time was the only other person in the room, and he made sure his gaze was solidly on the book in his lap.
“...okay,” he whispered nervously.
Time slipped his gaze over to Wild again, and before he could even blink the boy was suddenly on the other side of the room, the pages of his book flipping as a breeze buffeted his face.
Super speed, he thought in amazement as Wild ran back then did a couple quick loops around Legend. Legend for his part turned human again almost immediately, and stared, his eyes now the huge ones.
“WHOA! That’s awesome! You must always win races!” he gaped, and Wild blushed.
“I’ve never raced before,” he admitted, and Legend grabbed his arm.
“Well then we gotta! From here to the bed upstairs, readysetgo!”
Wild’s face lit up, and he took off, Legend sprinting after him even though his cap had been blown off and he had positively no chance of winning.
Time watched them leave with a warm smile, not even caring that he’d lost his place in his book.
(...)
“Mama? Can I help with dinner?”
Malon smiled down at Wild, who was hovering eagerly around her feet as she chopped some tomatoes. He’d started calling her mom about a week ago, and she couldn’t help but let him.
“Of course honey, can you get some safflina for me?”
Wild nodded and zipped over to the pantry, rifling through shelves at a speed much faster than necessary as he looked for the plant.
Time leaned on the counter and watched him zip around the kitchen, grabbing whatever Malon happened to need, sometimes before she could even ask. Wild had begun using his powers much more regularly ever since Legend had talked to him, and now spent much of his time zipping around the house and climbing things at twice the speed he had before. He seemed the happiest Time had ever seen him, and he smiled as he watched him hand Malon the salt shaker.
Wild caught him watching and returned his smile, and Time was about to ask if he could help at all when the phone rang.
Malon went to answer it, but he waved her off, raising a pointed eyebrow at her messy hands. She flicked some tomato at him and he dodged it, smirking as he picked up the phone.
“Hello?”
His smile faded as he heard the answering voice.
“Time, we found out who Link is,” Impa said, and something in his stomach went cold.
He glanced over at Wild, who was happily putting chopped up bits of tomato into a pot while Malon kept watched him.
He swallowed and caught Malon’s eye. “Go ahead.”
“His name’s Link Satori, I suppose we got lucky on the name. His parents died when he was a baby, apparently he was living with his grandfather, who was a super. He died right around when Link was attacked though, and we think he may have been a target of the same group that went after his grandson. No siblings.”
“He... he doesn’t have anyone?” Time asked, and Impa sighed as Malon walked over, realizing what was happening.
“No. His parents died years ago, and he has no other family, other grandparents, aunts or uncles... nothing,” Impa continued, and Malon let out a soft oh. ”He has no legal guardians... apart from you two.”
“Then... what does that mean for him?” Time asked hesitantly, and Malon put her hand on his arm.
Impa shuffled some papers. “Well... one option would be placing him into the foster system. But with him being a super it’ll be nearly impossible for them to place him with a family, it might be years before—“
“No.”
Time and Malon met each other’s eyes. They’d both spoken at the same time.
“No?” Impa asked with a hint of a smile on her voice, sounding oddly knowing.
Time looked over at Wild, who was trying to pick some tomato out of his hair, and giggling as he only managed to spread it further.
“No. We...” Malon squeezed his hand. “...we want him to keep living here. With us.”
“We’re already his family in everything but name,” Malon added softly, pulling the receiver closer, “all we really need to do is make it official. We’d like to adopt him.“
Time knew Impa was smiling now.
“I think we can make that happen.”
(...)
“What’s going on?”
Malon and Time smiled at Legend, who was tapping his fingers impatiently on the table while Twilight mostly just looked confused. They’d gathered everyone for a family meeting, even Wind (though he was asleep in Malon’s arms), and Legend was getting increasingly impatient.
Wild smiled knowingly from his seat, having already been told what this was all about.
“Is there a surprise for us?” Legend asked, “a trip? Presents? Carrots?”
“Do we have to move again?” Twilight asked quietly, and Malon shook her head.
“No honey, we’re not moving,” she immediately reassured him, and Twilight looked relieved. “And it is a sort of surprise. We have some news to tell you.”
“Well what is it?” Legend huffed, putting his chin on the table.
Malon met Time’s eye, and he cleared his throat.
“You boys remember how Wild was supposed to stay with us until the police could find his family?” he asked, and Legend and Twilight nodded.
“Did they find them?” Twilight said hopefully. He’d worriedly asked about Wild’s family several times over the course of the younger boy’s stay, hoping his friend would finally get to see his parents again.
Time sighed.
He and Malon had already explained to Wild what had happened to his grandfather of course, and he’d taken it quietly, merely nodding once they finished.
“Do you remember him at all?” Malon had asked, and Wild gave her a small shrug.
“I already knew he was gone,” he had said quietly, and hadn’t elaborated.
So what Time said next was only a surprise to Legend and Twilight. “Yes, but they... Wild doesn’t have any family to stay with anymore.”
Legend froze, and Twilight looked stricken, wrapping his arms around himself.
“So... so where’ll he live now?” Legend asked in a trembling voice, and Time smiled as Malon squeezed his hand.
“Well... we thought he could stay here,” Time said, and Wild covered his grin with his hands as Twilight and Legend stared at their father.
Malon smiled. “We’re going to adopt him.”
Legend and Twilight immediately swung their stares over to Wild, and he smiled at them, looking the tiniest bit sheepish.
And the room suddenly exploded into noise.
“Adopt— you’re adopting Wild?! Wild you— you get to stay here!” Twilight gasped. “You get to be our brother!“
“We’ll get to celebrate your birthday and race all we want and come to school with us—“ Legend chattered, steadily increasing in both volume and speed, “—An’ climb stuff an’ go to the store an’ see Wars an’ Sky an’ Sun an’—“
Wild’s smile only grew.
“NEW BROTHER!!” Legend finally finished with a holler, so excited that he turned into a rabbit and promptly launched himself at Wild.
Wild caught him and smiled wider than Time had ever seen him smile before, and began to laugh as Twilight leaned over and hugged him. Wind got woken up by all the noise but surprisingly enough didn’t cry, merely babbling loudly and adding to the chaos.
Time smiled as his boys celebrated, and Malon leaned her head on his shoulder.
He would never be glad of the violence that Wild had suffered, nor the injuries he’d bear the marks of for the rest of his life. But he’d always be grateful of the circumstances that had allowed him to be sitting in their dining room, smiling brightly as Twilight leaned on him and Legend bounced onto his shoulder, all three happily talking and laughing.
He wouldn’t trade this moment for the world.

Wip Wednesday
(but on a Thursday because I forgot again)
This is from an au I haven’t spoken of to anyone yet, and that I promised myself I’d only write one scene of so as to not end up rewriting an entire movie. And due to that, it’ll probably be done soon! Maybe. Hopefully.
...no promises.
“—was both your ideas! Yours! Hundred percent all-yours, all-the-time idea!" Wind yelled, and Twilight let out a piercing whistle.
The two stopped shouting and looked at Malon, shrinking under her gaze.
“And how many more of you are here?” she said with a raised eyebrow, and the three stowaways gave each other a look.
“No one.”
“Just us.”
“Nobody at all,” Wind answered last, right as Wild wandered in from the back, slurping a juice box.
“Oh. We done with the stowaway thing?” he asked, and Legend groaned and slapped his forehead.
“Well we are now!”
Malon pressed a hand to her face, taking a deep, even breath. “Is there anyone else here who’s not supposed to be?”
The cabin was silent for several long moments, then Four slowly walked out from the back row of seats, shuffling his feet awkwardly.
“...Hi mom.”

First piece of writing I post in several weeks and it’s from a silly au I only just thought up three days ago. what is life.
Anyways Incredibles AU airplane scene go!
————————————————————
Time had been awake for several hours before anything happened.
He was suspended a few feet off the floor by some sort of energy field-contraption, arms outstretched and held tightly in place. His whole body ached from whatever sedative had been pumped into him when he’d been caught, (and he was still cursing himself for being caught—) and none of his powers looked like they’d be enough to get him out either.
So he waited.
He was beyond stiff by the time the door finally opened, Dark Link striding in with Sheik following a little ways behind. He walked right up to where Time was held, then gave him a huge grin.
“You, sir....truly are the Fierce Deity!” he said with a laugh, sounding thrilled. “You know, I was right to idolize you. I always knew you were tough, but tricking the probe by hiding under the bones of another super?”
Time lowered his head at the reminder of finding the bones of Darmani. I hope you’re resting easy brother.
Dark Link shook his head in disbelief, pacing slowly around in front of Time. “Incredible! I’m still reeling.” He grinned. “You really are something.”
Then he let out a rather theatrical sigh, pausing in his steps.
Time stiffened.
“And then you just had to ruin it all,” Dark Link said mournfully. “I mean really? The great and powerful Fierce Deity calling for help?”
He scoffed, and Time blinked at him in confusion.
What?
“Stuck in my lair and what do you do? Boo hoo, help me help me, I’m completely helpless,” Dark Link said in a mocking voice, then whipped around and jabbed a finger towards Time’s face. “Who did you contact.”
Time stared at him, feeling nothing but confusion.
“What are you talking about?” he muttered, and Dark Link’s eyes narrowed.
He tapped something on the band around his wrist, and Time was suddenly filled with a shooting stabbing agony, electricity coursing through his entire body.
It only lasted a few seconds but he couldn’t help the cry it tore out of him, gasping heavily once it was done.
Dark Link clasped his arms behind his back, cape rippling as he moved. “I am referring to last night at 23:07 hours while you were snooping around. You sent out a homing signal,” he snapped, and Time raised his head to look at him.
“I didn’t know... about any homing device,” he bit out, then screamed as another jolt went through him, this one lasting several seconds longer.
Dark Link clenched his fists as he continued to electrocute Time, ignoring his cries. “And now a government plane is requesting permission to land here! Who did you contact?” he shouted, and finally took his finger off his wrist.
Time spasmed with leftover electricity, and barely managed to drag in a gasping breath.
“I didn’t s-send... for any... one...” he said weakly, and Dark Link whipped around towards Sheik.
“Play the transmission,” he growled, and after a moment’s preparation Sheik pressed a button on the control panel.
And a voice Time would know absolutely anywhere filtered through the line.
“Hyrule Flyer Niner-Niner checking in. VFR on top...“
“Malon...!” he gasped, and Dark Link grinned.
“So you do know these people!” he said cheerfully, and Time felt his heart fall straight into his stomach. “Well in that case, I think I’ll send them a little greeting.”
The Shadow met his eyes, the smile never leaving his face.
“It’s only polite you know.”
(...)
Malon ran a hand through her hair, letting out an uneasy sigh.
Her thoughts were racing, and only getting worse the closer the plane got to the tracking beacon in Time’s armor. It was a good thing flying a plane kept one’s attention fairly well, or she probably would have driven herself nuts by now questioning what exactly her husband had gotten himself into.
A hand settled over hers and she looked over at the other person with her, Twilight giving her a gentle smile.
Bless her son. He’d insisted on coming along when he’d caught her suiting up, asking her increasingly worried questions until she’d broken down and told him about everything that had happened. She’d wanted him to stay and help handle things at home, but he’d insisted, refusing to let her go alone.
He didn’t even know anything about flying, but he helped where he could, and learned pretty fast considering he’d never stepped foot in a plane before.
Despite the danger, Malon was immensely grateful to have him.
“Hey,” Twilight said, interrupting her thoughts, “it’ll be all right, we’ll find him. No matter what ridiculous mess he’s gotten himself into.”
He squeezed her hand and she nodded, managing to scrounge up a smile for him. “Thank you hun. Would you mind setting my bag in the back? I’d bet you could use a stretch and I can handle things for a little while.”
Twilight nodded and stood up, taking her suggestion and stretching as he grabbed her bag and made his way to the passenger area.
A few moments later she heard a loud “ow!”
“Legend?!”
Malon snapped her head up, quickly setting the plane to autopilot before marching into the other room. And sure enough, Legend sat on one of the seats, holding her bag and rubbing his head as Twilight blinked at him in disbelief.
“Link Legend Forester!” she said as he set her bag down, “What on earth—“
“It’s not my fault!” he immediately defended, raising both hands up in surrender, “Wind was the one who wanted to—“
Wind suddenly poked his head up from a row back. “That’s not true! You were the one who said—“
“I did not!”
“Wind?!” Malon gasped at the same time as Twilight did.
Legend and Wind continued to talk over each other, completely ignoring her and Twilight.
“—follow you and came on the plane so I came here and you closed the doors before I could find him and then you took off and it’s not my fault—“
“—"Something’s up with Mom. We have to find out what!" That’s what you said! And it was all your idea! Yours! Hundred percent all-yours, all-the-time idea!" Wind yelled, and Twilight let out a piercing whistle.
The two stopped shouting and looked at him, shrinking under his gaze.
“And how many more of you are here?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, and the two stowaways gave each other a look.
“No one.”
“Just us.”
“Nobody at all,” Wind repeated, right as Wild wandered in from the back, slurping a juice box.
“Oh. We done with the stowaway thing?” he asked as he looked at them all, and Legend groaned and slapped his forehead.
“Well we are now!”
Malon pressed a hand to her face, taking a deep, even breath. “Is there anyone else?”
The cabin was silent for several long moments, then Hyrule slowly walked out from the back row, awkwardly shuffling his feet.
She scanned her boys, giving them all the evil eye before placing a hand on her hip as she shook her head. She loved them all, she really did, but sometimes they just did not listen.
“At least tell me Four isn’t here,” she sighed.
A cacophony of voices immediately leapt to reassure her, spouting all about how Four had been working on a project so they’d left him a note and leftovers and yes mom we were being responsible and didn’t just leave him all alone we asked Groose to come by in the afternoon—
“You let Groose in our house?” Twilight interrupted, and Wild crossed his arms.
“Sun can vouch for him, he’ll be fine! He doesn’t even have to barely do anything anyways, Four’s responsible! He can handle it.”
“Right, like he handled helping with Wind’s science project?” Legend muttered, and Wind shrugged.
“How was he supposed to know I’m allergic to shellfish?”
“BOYS!”
Everybody winced and looked apologetically at Malon, who gave them all a firm look. “Warriors isn’t around here somewhere is he?” she asked with a raised eyebrow, and Hyrule shook his head.
“No, we couldn’t get ahold of him,” he said, and Malon knew Hyrule at least wouldn’t lie to her. “Otherwise we would’ve had him stay with Four.”
“Of course, if Four had realized what we were doing he totally would’ve come,” Wind interjected, and several glares were shot his way.
“Anyway,” Malon continued, “While I would’ve preferred you to have gotten someone else to check in on Four—“ literally anyone else, she thought with a hint of exasperation, “—I’m glad he isn’t alone. Now as for you all—“
An alert blared from the cockpit, and she frowned, turning back into the area and looking at the dashboard.
Her eyes immediately widened at the sight on the radar in front of her, and she stared out the window, praying she was wrong. But sure enough two lights were streaking towards the plane, and she felt her stomach sink.
Missiles. Heading directly at them.
She practically flung herself into the pilot’s chair, snapping the plane off of autopilot and began to prepare for evasive maneuvers.
“Hold on!” she yelled behind her, and Twilight almost immediately joined her side.
“What the— missiles?!” he gaped, “we didn’t even do anything!”
Malon didn’t reply, instead clicking on the radio. “Hyrule Flyer Niner-Niner transmitting in the blind guard. Disengage! Repeat, disengage!” she shouted through her headset, but there was no response.
She pulled the plane into a sharp swerve, her sons yelling in the back as she sent the two missiles crashing into each other. But as soon as those were gone four more appeared, from slightly different directions.
She gritted her teeth as she plunged into a steep dive and attempted to contact the island again.
 (...)
“Disengage! Repeat, disengage! Friendlies!”
Time’s heart sped up the more he heard of his wife’s voice, every bit of her hidden panic only doubling his own. He had a perfect view of the radar screen, several flashing dots rapidly chasing after a big one that kept swerving in dizzying evasive maneuvers.
And all Dark Link did was stand there, looking faintly amused by the whole thing.
“Call them off,” Time finally choked out, “call them off Dark I’ll do anything—“
The Shadow finally glanced over, crossing the room and giving a sad shake of his head as he approached his prisoner.
“Too late!” he said with a shrug, meeting Time’s panicked gaze. “...literal years too late.”
 (...)
“Friendlies at two-zero miles south-southwest of your position. Angels 10. Track east. Disengage!” Malon shouted through the radio as she pulled back up, sending at least one projectile into the ocean below her.
Twilight was doing all he could to help, and Malon was hardly a bad pilot but unless a miracle occurred they weren’t getting out of this.
Legend seemed to come to the same realization, and he whipped his head towards his brother. “Hyrule!” Legend said suddenly, the brunette in question trying not to fall over, “You have to use your Shield around the plane!”
Hyrule looked at him, a thin spark of panic in his eyes as he looked down at his hands. “But— but Mom said we weren’t supposed to use our powers!” he said, Legend steadying his arm when the plane dove to the side.
Malon bit her lip as she heard them talk, dragging the plane back again. “I know what I said, but listen to what I’m saying now, you need to do your shield,” Malon urged him, but Hyrule looked frozen.
She pulled the plane into a quick roll, sending her passengers all yelling as they were flung around. “Disengage. Repeat, disengage!” she repeated through the radio despite knowing it wouldn’t make an ounce of a difference.
A missile nearly clipped them and someone yelped.
“Mom?” Wind said in a voice full of barely-held-back panic, looking out the window where he could see several missiles flying towards them.
“Hyrule! Shield!”
Hyrule bit his lip and tried to form his shield, hands shaking as a faint reddish glimmer appeared around them. It kept growing to about the size of his head before sputtering out, and he only looked more frantic the longer he tried.
Malon bit her lip so hard she drew blood and yelled into the radio again, desperation coloring her voice. “Mayday, mayday! Hyrule Flyer niner-niner is buddy-spiked! Abort! Abort! There are children aboard—“
(...)
“—say again, there are children aboard—!”
“NO!” Time roared, and Dark Link barely spared him a glance.
“Sir?” Sheik asked, hesitation in her voice.
Dark Link waved her on to continue.
 (...)
“Hyrule! Put a shield around us!” Wind yelped as they abruptly lurched downwards.
“I’ve never done one this big!” Hyrule stuttered, hands shaking more the longer he tried, and Wild grabbed his arm as well, trying to steady him so he could work.
“Hyrule please honey, do it now!” Malon begged as she turned back to the radio. “Abort, please abort, abort—“
“I— I can’t I’m sorry—“
“Abort ABORT!”
Twilight abruptly grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the controls and then rammed the door of the plane open. He shoved his brothers out before grabbing Malon’s hand and jumping himself.
About a second later the plane exploded behind them.
The force of it hit her and Malon momentarily blacked out, Twilight still clutching her hand. When her eyes flickered back open she was still falling, her sons screaming around her, and she gasped as she snapped back to awareness.
She saw Wind frantically snatching at the winds whipping around them, trying to slow everyone’s fall, and while he did succeed enough for them not to hit the water too hard it still hurt, and Malon drew in a gasp at how cold it was. She choked on the water she accidentally breathed in, and swam for the surface, breaching with a gasp.
“Mom!” she heard someone shout once she surfaced, and saw Twilight swim over to her, face white.
He had Wind on his back, the younger boy looking exhausted from using his power so much, and Legend was next to them, helping Hyrule stay up. Wild was doing okay by himself, but every one of them looked pale and shocked, even Twilight.
“All right, okay, everyone calm down,” she soothed as several of them began to speak as they gathered around her, “Now I’ll tell you what we’re not going to do. We’re not going to panic, we’re not going—“
“LOOK OUT!” Wild suddenly yelled, and Malon and Twilight had just enough time to drag them all away under the water before one of the plane’s turbines crashed into the ocean nearly on top of them. Malon waited a few seconds before releasing the arms she had grabbed, and watched as a trailing missile fell after the turbine, hitting the bottom and exploding.
She surfaced again to every single one of her sons panicking.
“Oh my gosh,” Hyrule choked out, “it blew up. It blew up—“
“Who’s idea was this anyway?” Wild gasped, sounding on the verge of hyperventilating.
“It almost hit us,” muttered Legend, and clutched at a piece of floating wreckage. “A couple meters closer and—“
“We’re dead! We’re dead!” Wind kept repeating in a rapidly increasing panic, his eyes blown wide, “we’re dead!”
“What do we do?” Twilight asked with a shell-shocked expression.
“We survived but we’re dead!”
“HEY!” Malon yelled, and her sons all snapped their gazes towards her. “We are not going to die! Not if I have anything to say about it! Now all of you will get a grip or so help me I will ground you for a month! Understand!?”
The group went quiet, and they all eventually nodded, though their faces were still pale.
Malon blew out a breath, wiping some wet hair out of her face. “Good.“
She gave them a tight-lipped smile, pushing aside her own worry and terror at having come so close to losing both her own life and her sons.
“Now let’s focus on doing something useful.”
(...)
“We have a confirmed hit. Target was destroyed,” Sheik said in a quiet voice.
Time stared at the ground, bangs falling in his eyes as his breath came in ragged gasps, unwilling to fully process what the words Sheik had spoken truly meant.
No.
No.
“Ah, you’ll get over it,” Dark Link drawled, stretching a bit. He smiled up at Time, still standing directly in front of him. “after all, I seem to recall you prefer to work alone...?”
Time grit his teeth and felt the wave of shock and disbelief turn abruptly into one of pure rage.
He snapped his head up and lunged forward for Dark, but Sheik reacted a split second before he did and knocked her boss out of the way. Time ended up grabbing her instead, and he held an arm around her waist while the other pressed against her neck, glaring at Dark Link as she gasped in surprise.
“Release me. NOW!” he shouted as she struggled, and Dark Link raised an eyebrow.
“Or what?”
Time tightened his grip and Sheik sucked in a breath. “I’ll crush her.”
Dark Link tapped his chin with a finger, looking vaguely impressed. “Ooh, that’s a little dark for you... you know what? Go ahead,” he shrugged.
Sheik gasped and Time tightened his grip yet again. “It’ll be easy.”
Dark Link chuckled. “Well then go right ahead, show me.”
Time grit his teeth as Dark Link watched him, feeling Sheik’s pulse beat rapidly from where his arm was wrapped across her neck. It would be so easy. One quick movement and the heartbeat he could feel would stop and the anger boiling in his blood would be released and his family—
His family—
His family would still be dead.
The fight drained out of him and he dropped Sheik with a shaking sigh. She fell to her knees and sucked in a breath, then looked up in disbelief at her employer who so obviously cared nothing for her life. Dark Link barely spared her a glance, staring coldly at Time.
“I knew you couldn’t do it,” he sneered, cape swishing around him, “even though you’ve got nothing to lose! You’re weak,” he spat, then turned and began to walk out of the room.
“...and I’ve outgrown you.”
Sheik finally got to her feet and glanced at Time, who if he’d been looking at her would’ve caught sight of a truly worried and grieved expression shot his way.
Then she was gone and Time let himself cry.

Note
what are everyone's powers in the incredibles au?
I’m glad you asked! I’m actually a little stumped on what exactly Time should be able to do, so I’d love some suggestions. Everyone else I’m pretty set on.
Time (Fierce Deity) — super strength definitely, but maybe not just that? maybe sword beams?
Malon (Malanya) — can talk to animals and gain their assistance, has an especially close connection with horses and can call them from practically anywhere with a song
Twilight — super strength, can turn into a wolf and talk to animals (but only in wolf form)
Warriors — ice (I know fire is sort of more his thing but like... blue scarf, blue ice, he looks really good in blue... idk he just really fits as Frozone and I want to leave it that way lol)
Wild — speed (sort of a nod to his flurry rush)
Legend — Invisibility, (a nod to the invisibility cloak) and definitely not the ability to turn into an animal nope
Wind — control over winds (think morro ninjago)
Hyrule — ability to create shields (force fields) and fire, minor healing powers
Four — he’s powerless but doesn’t really mind. (...or so he and everyone else think. they just haven’t shown themselves yet)
Sky (Crimson Loftwing) — flight, and can shoot beams of light from either his hands or whatever weapon he’s holding (almost always the master sword)

An updated power list for the Incredibles au
Because the first one was made when I was still working things out :)
I think this is what I’m going to stick with for the au, unless I’m suddenly struck with inspiration for better ideas or something. Anyways!
Time - has a sort of “transformation” he taps into, the most obvious effect is super strength, it also gives him extra durability and basically boosts his energy (and changes his appearance)
Malon - connection with animals, she can understand/talk to them, and she has an especially close bond with horses. Also excellent lasso and archery skills.
Warriors - ice powers
Sky - wings that he can fly with, he can also retract them to appear (mostly) normal
Twilight - he can turn into a wolf, and talk to animals in wolf form. As a human he has higher then natural hearing, smell, and night vision (which he has in wolf form as well obviously)
Legend - invisibility, he can also turn into a rabbit. He maintains speech as an animal though, while Twilight doesn't.
Wild - super speed
Hyrule - force fields (he calls it his shield), and healing
Wind - wind powers
Four - he’s powerless*
*or so he and everyone else thinks
