Cory grabs Topanga and laser down on the table to get hot and heavy. -Danielle
It's very unsanitary in a restaurant. -Will
Angela watches this unfold and tells Shawn I want what they have, but she leans in and kisses him and we freeze frame on our new couple staring into each other's eyes. -Danielle
Topanga says it's so nice for them to all be together on Thanksgiving. Cory wants to tell her something. Then he leans in and starts to make out with her in front of everyone with weird blocking...Shawn and Angela watch on and Angela's eyes. I'm so glad I'm here. Shawn. Shawn holds out his hand for her to grab and then leads her into the apartment before we sit down. I'd like to say thanks for all the good things that have happened to us. He looks at Angela and me. -Danielle

ABOUT:
Trini Martin is Topanga's best friend during the first year of high school. She is a very annoying girl who does not behave lady-like at all, which leads to Cory greatly disliking her. She feels that Topanga is the only one who truly understands her. She can call her in the middle of the night, not say a thing, and Topanga will still know who called.
Jonathan Turner was Cory, Shawn, and Topanga's teacher at John Adams High. His authority was sometimes undermined by George Feeny, due to the fact that he had new and fresh ways of dealing with students, as opposed to the conservative ways most other teachers have.

Round 1 of 8, Group 3 of 8
Tumblr media Tumblr media
propaganda and summaries are under the cut (May include spoilers)
Boy Meets World: 5.18 If You Can't Be with the One You Love
cw for underage drinking
In an effort to numb his heartache, Cory steals a bottle of whiskey from Alan. He offers to share the bottle with Shawn and the two drown their sorrows. Trouble arises when Shawn discovers he likes the alcohol a little too much.
"i always thought that topanga was the one person i couldn't live without. but she's gone, and, and you're here, and i'm alive, so it must be you!" while the queer and romantic undertones of shawn and cory's relationship have always been present in the show, until this point, the fact that they're very obviously in love tended to be played for laughs. in this episode, for the first time, there's a direct acknowledgement of the fact that their relationship isn't just any old friendship. for the time, cory explicitly says that shawn is more important to him than topanga, that shawn is the reason he can keep living. i fully believe that this episode changed the trajectory of boy meets world permanently. sure, there was 'chick like me', where cory was pretty obviously ogling shawn in a skirt, and 'an affair to forget', where the running gag was that shawn's girlfriend was taking him away from cory, or even 'it's not you, it's me...' where shawn and cory had an argument that was very much written like a breakup, but those were all for comedy. in this episode, as cory gets drunk for the first time in his life, he confesses to shawn that he is the most important person in his life. in my opinion, this confession is the reason that future episodes could carry on with distinct queer undertones. it makes it visible that in the writer's room for boy meets world there were people who genuinely wanted cory and shawn to end up together. the episode continues to pack punches, revealing alan's perception of shawn as a bad influence on cory. this introduces another arc of shawn falling prey to the same genetic alcoholism that had affected his father. sure it's a fun episode of a fun show where high schoolers get drunk and piss on a cop car, but like an ogre, this episode has layers. backstory for shawn, angela being an icon, and dialogue that changed the relationship between shawn and cory forever, this episode truly has it all.
The Simpsons: 4.17 Last Exit to Springfield
When Mr. Burns revokes the plant's dental plan, forcing Lisa to be fitted with cheap, ugly braces, Homer leads its union into going on strike.
Truly The Simpsons at its best. A small but heartfelt story with some iconic jokes (dental plan/Lisa needs braces; Classical Gas; punching Lenny in the back of the head) Lisa's protest song radicalised me at the age of 10. They have the plant but we have the power <3

Boy Meets World Shawn/Cory/Topanga fic summary of an idea I have no energy to try writing.
From a young age Cory was always willing to tell everyone that the two most important people in his world were Shawn Hunter and Topanga Lawrence. When he was little he learned to say Shawn's name first, it made the adults and other kids happy that his best buddy was more important than a girl and as he got older he learned to say Topanga's name first as it made everyone more happy that his girlfriend was more important than his best buddy. The truth that neither of them were more or less important to Cory.
Years of being asked who your BEST friend was or your FAVORITE whatever and not being allowed to have multiples had the trio agreeing early on on how they would navigate dating. Cory and Topanga agreed that neither of them were that comfortable accepting or going on dates with other people, it would feel bad to them. Shawn thought it was fine, as long as he wasn't actually leading people on.
They played very well into their Topanga and Cory and Shawn and anything that moved dating personas. The three of them became very good at spotting girls that needed help in the dating department, whether it was because they were not interested in men at all but weren't ready to tell anyone or just someone who was shy or perhaps not as desired as many of the other girls and just needed a dating boost. Shawn would approach them, tell them he isn't interested in anything more than casual fun and hand holding and ask if they'd want to go on a few dates. They all said yes. Throughout middle and high school Shawn vastly improved the social lives of probably a third of the female population of the school.
When college started to be something they were seriously considering the three thought about how great it would be to all live together, and maybe not hide their affection for each other.
The weekend before hs graduation when everyone was teasing Cory about proposing to Topanga the teasing and ignoring of Shawn's place in their relationship became too much. They decide to tell the Matthews, Jack, Mr. Feeny, and Mr Turner about their actual relationship. The three hold hands in the Matthews living room as they tell everyone. It's kinda silent before Eric cheers and announces that it's a big relief they all feel the same. That he'd been dreading how upset one of them would be if they couldn't all stay together.
Cory bemoans not being able to wed them both and that, based on what fields they want to work in it will probably be Topanga and Shawn having the wedding without him. His family decide to help him and convince him to propose to both of them at the joint graduation party they were planning to throw. Even if Shawn and Topanga are the only two who can legally sign the marriage paperwork there is no reason they can't have a beautiful wedding with all three of them.
Cory proposes, they say yes and hug each other. Basically everyone they know is happy for them. It turns out people have been worried about them having to go separate ways for a long time.
Lovely wedding with all three holding hands, all three change their last name to LawrenceHunterMatthews yup no spaces or anything. They get a tiny apartment and build a bed out of twin mattresses they found for cheap. This time instead of in the show Topanga is actually pregnant, she just hadn't realized or tested for it until after the baby shower that the boys organize for her. Turns out to be triplets, one girl who looks like Cory's clone, one girl who looks like Shawn's clone, and one boy who looks like Topanga's clone.
After the babies are born Jack and Eric come out as a couple too.
Happy happy nice queer ending.

BW&VK: Accidental Discoveries
Tumblr media
Leaving Audrey’s the next morning is more difficult than the trio anticipated. Brad reveals his true intentions while Shawn leads him to believe that he’s the one interested in Audrey not Jon. Topanga convinces Shawn to seek help about the rave and he agrees…to go to Harley. Meanwhile, Jon overhears a very interesting conversation.
"All I'm sayin' is if we dress in black and crouch behind the bike as we roll it out to the street, people will think it's movin' on its own and won't pay attention to us." Shawn's fingers and thumb were pinched together like he was holding something small in them. He jabbed them in Jon's face much to his teacher's annoyance.
Jon placed one hand on his waist and one over his mouth. He couldn't believe he was having this conversation right now. "Shawn, we're tryin' not to draw attention to ourselves. The Harley movin' down the street on its own is gonna have the opposite effect."
Shawn frowned and shook his hair out of his face. "So what're you sayin'?"
"I'm sayin' NO!"
"You're awfully critical for a guy who hasn't come with an idea."
Audrey sighed loudly.
"Look," Jon said glancing at her. "My concern isn't gettin' the bike to the street. It's makin' sure there isn't anyone around to see us. If no one's around I take the bike out like a normal person."
Shawn lifted his hand to Jon's face again with renewed determination in his eyes. "So again- all in black and I'll need walkie-talkies for this."
Jon let out a heavy breath and pinched the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. The moment he heard himself speak he regretted it. "Why?"
"Stealth."
"Stealth?"
"I do a sweep of our yard, the neighbors' yards and trees, and the stuff across the street."
"Trees?"
"They could be anywhere, man."
Tumblr media
"Who heard about it from the popular seniors," Shawn finished pushing his hair off his face. "Then it trickled down to the rest of us."
"And now someone is blasting it all over school where Feeny is sure to see." Cory added.
"And another school, too," Topanga added dejectedly.
Shawn stared at the ceiling as all his plans for a normal birthday party and date for his teachers turned to dust. "Man, I'm gonna need a miracle to make it to Saturday without gettin' busted."
"You're gonna need a miracle to stop everyone from showing up if you don't," Trini said glibly.
Shawn groaned.
"Guys, we need help," Topanga said firmly. "We are going to get caught and, Shawn, your party will be ruined if we don't."
"You're right," Cory sighed.
"We don't have a choice," Trini added.
Shawn sat up and stared resolutely at his closet doors. "Yeah, you guys are right. I was hopin' it wouldn't come to this, but we're gonna have to do it."
"Good," Topanga said sounding relieved. "Shawn, I know this ruins your plans for Mr. Turner and Miss Andrews, but it's for the best."
"Ruin my plans?" He blinked several times at this odd statement. "Why would Harley ruin my plans? I doubt he cares about Jon and Audrey."
"Harley?" three voices shouted in alarm.
Shawn grimaced at the phone as he pulled the receiver away and rubbed his ear.
"As in Keiner?" Cory sputtered in disbelief.
"No, Harley as in Jon's bike," he shot back, annoyed with their reaction. 'Of course, Keiner!"

watched more bmw ok we're so close we're inching towards the finish line here... couldn't incessantly liveblog because my phone was charging so: 1. shawn was sucking and fucking like crazy while on the road we just didn't see it because it wasn't relevant to cory's journey etc 2. resurrection is PROBABLY the best if not 2/3rd best episodes of the season even if it just more ridiculous angst it does sort of work in conjunction with chet's death and eric moving out and tommy and shawn coming back etc etc this season is stupid angsty misogynistic mess but at least it did sort of come together at the end? maybe they were just trying to lead it all to that point which is why certain narratives are so forced sometimes 3. eric being perceptive and knowing his friends and being good with kids <3 it's such a bummer the way it goes but I actually like the premise of him moving out and rachel and jack literally not knowing what to do with themselves anymore without him! like when he takes that stupid rubber duck with him last minute and flashes them a smile and it's like oh. this place is nothing if he's not there to bring life to it.... ugh. eric :( 3.5. jack and rachel saying they don't want anything to change and eric going you guys don't get it already has changed it will never be the same again... like again he's the only one who understood the way these relationships mattered he's smart!! and jack and rachel just fundamentally don't Get It because well they don't really fucking like each other that much... also ummm what if you can never ever ever go back :// 4. I forgot this the choice of name for the baby was between JOSHUA and DANIEL... are you kidding... the worst guy you know vs the chillest ambiguously gay person you've ever met... I've NEVER met a fictional daniel I didn't like... amy calling him joshua altered the whole course of his life I'm convinced that's why he does all those things later on... if he was called daniel the world would be so different.... 5. I have the craziest mixed opinions on the corpanga storyline that episode... on the one hand cory shut the fuck up on the other oh my godddd let's talk about weird hopeful silly topanga... BUT the writers being like booo you're too serious and responsible now what happened to you you used to be weird and cool 🙄 THAT WAS YOU!!! TONY YOU CHOSE TO DO THAT. anyway that's it I'm done I'm sure most of you won't read this I thought it was more efficient to make these like seven posts just one long ramble. we're over the biggest hurdle though the next episode is the first legit silly one in like.five hundred years....

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (IDW) Micro: Villains #5: Karai
Read Date: April 10, 2023 Cover Date: August 2013 ● Writer: Erik Burnham ● Art: Cory Smith ● Colors: Ian Herring ● Letterer: Shawn Lee ● Editor: Bobby Curnow ●
Tumblr media
**HERE BE SPOILERS: Skip ahead to the fan art/podcast to avoid spoilers
Reactions As I Read: ● looks like only two of the five students we can easily see were able to "steel themselves against surprise." ● "What were you before you felt this way?" / "Younger." - oof, felt that one ● Karai is an autodidact. she is … really growing on me as a character
Tumblr media
● harsh Leo is harsh ● 👏👏👏👏👏
Synopsis: The issue begins at the Foot Clan's genin training facility in Westchester County, New York. The head teacher Toshiro is leading a group in a training session, teaching them the importance of moving in unison. Karai appears and intentionally surprises the group, seeing which students are startled and which are not. She seeks council from Toshiro. Karai tells Toshiro she is unsure of what direction to proceed in; she struggles to accept her new place in the clan (under Leonardo, now a chūnin). She knows she cannot hope to challenge her grandfather Oroku Saki for control of the clan and win, nor can she leave the clan for without it she feels she is nothing.
She tells Toshiro how in her youth her father Oroku Yori told her stories of the Foot Clan's glory and told her to draw strength from the, but saw that it was apparent that he himself did not, having turned the clan into a legion of lawyers and accountants. On one occasion, she saw one of her father's advising subordinates, Nakamura, speak to him with disrespect, and how he brushed it off with the promise of monetary gain. Caught eavesdropping by her mother, she is sent to he library to occupy herself. It is then that she found the Ashi no Himitsu, the book containing all the history and secrets of the Foot Clan. She studied it in secret, learning everything she could. For years she lived a double life: the prim, proper upper class girl her mother wanted her to be by day, and the ninja her father never was by night. One night, Oroku Saki appeared before her in a dream. He compliments her form, good for one with no formal instruction. Saki admires that she does not fear him. Karai says she has nothing to fear from a dream. Saki slashes her across the hand and asks if one feels pain in a dream. She says he is a ghost then, but still shows no fear. She says she plans on bringing the Foot Clan out of the mire her father dragged it into. Saki tells her that they will do it together. He may be dead, but he tells her that she can bring him back to life.
Karai spent the next few years building the clan's resources, recruiting capable bodies to her cause and eliminating those who were responsible for dragging the clan down. Eventually, Karai hunted down Nakamura, the man who she'd witnessed disrespect her father, and killed him. Without him to aid in the running of the clan, her father eventually died of stress.
She laments to Toshiro that after rebuilding the Foot Clan and resurrecting its jōnin, he chose another as his second-in-command. If she has nothing to offer but her past accomplishments, she wonders, what use is she? At that point Leonardo arrives and derides her for coming to whine to an old man, for not having the strength to deal with things on her own. Leonardo says that he was sent to evaluate the effectiveness of the training facility, and he has deemed it nearly worthless. Karai tells him that Toshiro is an excellent teacher but he has not been given enough time to train the new recruits. Leonardo tells Karai that her opinion is worthless, and her only worth to him is in how fast she can do what he tells her to. Leonardo continues provoking her, taunting her with her poor ability to lead. Karai attacks him and Leonardo is pleased, eager to put her in her place. During their fight, Karai realizes that Leonardo's movements are slower, less sure. She knows she could finish him once and for all if she chose to. Karai feigns defeat and Leonardo leaves. Toshiro asks why Karai stayed her hand. She explains that if she had killed him, her grandfather would kill her for disobedience. She knows she must change Oroku Saki's mind about Leonardo first. She vows to have her revenge, and makes the decision to look to the future rather than the past.
Two days later, Karai has gathered potential recruits (two of whom are Bebop and Rocksteady) at Shorai Research & Development, one of the Foot Clan's facilities. She tells them they have all been chosen for their understanding that power is what makes one last in this world. She tells them that there is one final test before making the decision on who will be chosen for the procedure. They will fight until the last two standing.

hiiii today's reminder is let's indeed talk about Ted Mosby because yes i do know. what a slimy self centred cheating manipulating little worm. how is he the romantic lead we're supposed to root for when he spends the entire series proving that he sees love as lip service and grand gestures rather than actual commitment or consistent effort, all while complaining about how he's a hopeless romantic. like no you're just a dick who uses women as long as they make you feel good about yourself and then moves on with zero lessons learned. even Barney after decades of seeing women as objects steps up when he's in love, but Ted and his supposed respect for women only last as long as it's convenient to him. also he's just so fucking condescending and annoying ugh. the show is so well written and so fun and has great moments throughout but i just can never get into it again because of how much i hate Ted
Hii! Yessss!! And the thing is he could never see when he was wrong ever. Everything he did was complete justified in his eyes. Like how is the womanizer of the group a better partner than you . The technical main character. And the finale. What was the point of all of that? His wife passes, he shares how he met her but it was just him telling his kids about all of his failed relationships (all on his part) that led to it and how much he actually loves Robin so he can be with Robin. Who I wish actually stayed with Barney even with his faults. Marshall though by far one of the best men in general. Like I loved him and Lily so much. Random but I've had a crush on Lily's actress Alyson Hannigan ever since I watched Buffy when I was little. When I discovered Taylor Swift at 12 it opened my eyes to all of the crushes I had on women prior no wonder my first real life boy crush wasn't till I was ten. Before that all I knew was I loved Shawn Hunter . Speaking of male leads who suck. Cory Matthews was absolutely insufferable. Also he looks like an ear of corn. But Shawn and Eric are my babies. Also is it me or Does Jonghyun look like Matthew Lawrence I've thought that for the past ten years but never said it cause I didn't know anyone who would know what I was talking about.
Oh Random but there's a YouTuber named Jake Webber I've been obsessed with I found him like five or six years ago but I just started watching him again and I am in love with him as well as his ex girlfriend Tara. But Jake is somehow emo but has this feral redneck quality that appeals to me for some reason. One he's ridiculous two he understands the joys of Reese's, mint and chocolate. And when he said he likes when energy drinks taste like energy drinks. I said like battery acid and then he said like battery acid I fell in love that's my soulmate. Also I had my monthly monster today and I feel fine I might not sleep tonight though. Tara is hilarious and just as feral but in a way that I personally connect to. Also she's vegetarian. Which I'm officially done with chicken. I'm ready to go full vegetarian. I've been slowly weaning myself and have had months at a time I didn't touch meat but I'm fully ready now.

Yes! It's been awhile since I watched the show in its entirety, but I did go through some scenes yesterday cause I was missing it and I guess afew years gave me some perspective.
Yeah I don't think we misunderstood the triangle - I think the argument that we all made those years ago for Maya/Lucas and by extension Riley/Farkle and Lucas/Riley was that you can care about two people equally, but not in the same way.
Saying that Maya only liked Lucas cause of Riley is somewhat disingenuous because there's so many things that happened before the whole love triangle thing even began: their banter, Lucas standing up for Maya and her art, tombstone and that whole saga, etc. All of those things were unique to Lucas and Maya.
One of the only reasons why we're lead to believe that Lucas didn't like Maya is because Lucas didn't get a chance to EXPRESS his feelings towards Maya because she shut him down due to this idea that she had become Riley...
It just wasn't true.
She had just changed and grew like a normal teenager because of her friend's good influence - much like Shawn did because of Cory's influence in BMW.
As for Josh/Maya - I also agree. Josh was never around and when he came around he inserted himself into a situation without having the full details. Of course he wasn't going to know the full situation and on top of that, his bias towards Maya colored his ability to be objective.
Overall, I disagree. The love triangle was a plot device they used (albeit somewhat unsuccessfully) to display what happens when you aren't honest about your feelings and how that affects your relationships, the consequences that can come by allowing people to tell you who you are/aren't and the importance of speaking your truth, no matter how uncomfortable it may be.
Just my 0.02 cents.
*cracks knuckles*
Alright, I may get shot down completely for this but I think most of the Girl Meets World fans COMPLETELY MISUNDERSTAND the love triangle.
Now I know that sounds like an exaggeration but trust me with all the posts I've seen about it, it very much is not.
All of the people saying lucaya should've been endgame are 100% missing how the love triangle happened and even the end results, which were that Maya and Lucas didn't even like each other in that way.
The entire triangle stems from Maya's identity crisis where she loses herself and becomes more like Riley, and when she becomes like Riley she starts to experience Riley's feelings for Lucas to make sure he's good for her. And because she's becoming like Riley and also Riley saying her and Lucas are "siblings" (they are not), Lucas starts liking Maya as well.
The whole resolution to the triangle is Maya refinding herself and realizing that she never liked Lucas romantically, and Lucas realizing that he likes Riley, always has and always will, and he only liked Maya because she was Riley at the time.
And at the end of the day it doesn't even matter, because the real point was to show that no matter what they go through, Riley and Maya are still best friends and will always be best friends and will always be there for each other.
Also I feel like I should mention how Josh fits into this because that is also a thing that people get wrong. Josh isn't the bad guy in this situation, and Maya isn't wrong to like him. Three years isn't a very big age gap, especially when Maya is much more mature than her age would typically be. And Josh isn't a groomer for saying he'll wait, either. I know some people have big issues with that, but to me it's a really sweet and smart way to go about things and not any kind of evil or irredeemable action.
(For the record, I'm not anti- any of the ships here. I'm not anti-lucaya, anti-joshaya, anti-rucas, or even anti-riarkle. I don't care what you ship, I just want people to understand this story and why things ended up how they did in regards to these ships and characters)
(Also for the record, I am open to this starting a respectful discussion in reblogs/comments, but please keep it respectful and don’t turn this into any kind of flame war)

I remember you guys going all out for the fight. I remember Yeah, during rehearsal, all that stuff. You guys were like, let's do it. Let's do it, let's do it. -Will
Well I think that's part of the problem is that we clearly loved this fight. -Rider
Yeah, You guys were excited about this. -Danielle
You can see that we're excited to do like stunts and to be up in each other's faces to a point that it doesn't really make sense. It's like it's out of character. And and not out of character...I don't know. It's just, it's so dramatic and it's so serious. Like you can just tell in our faces that we're like really looking forward to like doing, rolling around on the ground and Yeah. Yeah. Doing this fight. I don't know. -Rider
It did lead to one of my favorite lines of the entire series though. -Will
Did You know you were fighting each other? -Rider
Yep. -Will
Yep. I know. I love it too. -Danielle
The boys start fighting Cory pushes Shawn into the lockers and then onto the floor. Everyone around them starts screaming, fight, fight, fight. Mr. Williams and Mr. Turner Run up pulling them off of each other and yelling at the other students to get back to class. And then Turner looks confused saying, hunter Matthews. Mr. Williams asks, did you guys know you were fighting each other? -Danielle
Love it. -Will
Very funny. Great delivery. -Danielle
This Is actually the first fight we've ever had on camera. -Rider

The book is… a lot. That book is a lot.
I don’t even know how to begin to summarise maybe just read the wiki page yourself so you don’t miss anything
{{esquivalience}} is a novelette about language, coincidences, and the flow of the universe; charting the course of a mysterious young individual as they undertake a new job role — and all that comes with it.
*strained* cool.
A mysterious young individual known only as "______" is hired, through a rather lax interview process, by the Dead & Dying Languages department of the Multiplicity, a grouping of interdimensional scholars. They notice few odd occurrences, such as the order of the letters in the alphabet seemingly being wrong in The Book of English, but otherwise acquit themselves of their job with competence and determination, though they seem to have an ulterior motive.
This is a show vs ‘reality’ reference - there’s an argument the in-show alphabet is in the wrong order because a character said it ‘wrong’ once.
One day, having found a book amidst a pile of rubbish they're usually meant to throw out, ______ wind up deciding to dispose of it, and moreover doing so via the special disposal chute of the nearby Meta-Temporal Support department. This has the unexpected effect of erasing the Belgian Dutch language variant from history itself, alongside anyone who spoke it.
ok don’t do that
The following day, ______ hurries on with their actual agenda: finding the Inner Reference Room, where the Multiplicity keeps the books recording the life stories of all their own staff. There, they are confronted by the Head D.C., who guessed their intention of modifying the Head D.C.'s own life-book to make themself the leader of the department instead. Though unable to stop ______ from erasing them from existence by modifying and vandalising his book, the Head D.C. reveals that a greater power called the Unravel is at play, manipulating probability throughout reality to manoeuvre lesser forces into carrying out modifications to history.
*cries as if looking at an eldritch horror*
He also explains that he himself helped facilitate the Unravel's work by foolishly adding the imaginary word "esquivalience" to The Book of Dutch, purportedly defined as "To shirk one’s official duties deliberately". As this tiny change rippled back onto reality itself, it was was in an act of esquivalience that the Head D.C. passed the job-interview process onto an underqualified underling, allowing ______ entry into the Multiplicity.
mavity-defying levels of relevance
However, ______ is undeterred by the Head D.C.'s pleas that they must all stop trying to rewrite reality to starve the Unravel of the tools it needs to effect its agenda. Thereafter, though a note that the word "unravel" is somehow dangerous is added to the relevant entry, ______ fails to take advantage of their new job as Head D.C. to look further into the Unravel.
this is a loop right you created it right you let it in paradoxically right
However, as portended by the title of a 1960s "hit song" whose lyrics seem to allude to this entire fiasco, there is "a twist at the end": the effects of the Unravel are far from universally negative. The addition of the concept of esquivalience to the patterns of history allows soulmates Shawn Doltmann and Cory Maythers, who would otherwise never have met despite being made for each other, to finally encounter one another and lead happy lives together throughout the 21st century.
i’m just gonna say ruby and assume you can finish the thought
WAIT CRAP WE NEED SOMEONE WHO HAS THE BOOK. Is this TARDIS wiki search and replacing the term gravity or is it literally ‘mavity’ in the book cus if so I see no need to question the relevance of this anymore.
Some time into _______'s employment at the Multiplicity, one of the Dictionary Contributors, Melvart, has a work conversation with the Head D.C., pertaining to whether or not variations of the word "mavity" in various Earth languages (such as Irish-Gaelic's Domhantarraingt, 17th century-24th century's Mavité, and 14th century Italian's Mavità) should be capitalised on principle, owing to the plentiful evidence that in all Earth languages where the matter is settled for certain, words with that meaning are indeed capitalised, going all the way back to the earliest Indo-European sources.
Mavité and Mavità it’s got to be in the book.
*groans*
The Head D.C.'s private concerns are of entirely broader scope, however, as he sees in the coincidence of the special disposal chute's relatively recent installation, the hiring of the new Caretaker, and the mysterious appearance of the book left lying on the floor, a knot of coincidence as the "ropes of reality" are "tugging together".
With the immediate crisis resolved, the Head D.C. decides against firing ______, which would draw undue attention since the nature of their crime is by definition lost to time. During their next night shift, ______ decides to hurry up with their secret original reason for taking the job: locating the extradimensional Inner Reference Room, hidden beneath a stairway, and which contains a tree of time (the preternatural trees from whose wood the paper of the Multipicity's books is made) as well as The Book of the Head Dictionary Contributor of the D&DL Department. Before they can start rewriting it, they are however caught in the act by the Head D.C. himself, who anticipated their plans and had been lying in wait.
time tree, tree of time, time tree, *gestures towards tecteun’s ship, herself, the division as a whole* tree of knowledge
Though he pulls out The Book of ______, the Head D.C. realises it is of "little consequence" and admits he cannot stop ______ from carrying out their intended plan of modifying his book to bring about his immediate death or expulsion, then modifying theirs to take over his vacant job. However, he implores them to listen to him and relent because "everything could depend on this". Pleading as his body begins to be injured and destabilised by a series of furious rewrites and vandalisations of his book, the Head D.C. reveals that he once thought he could meddle with the books, introducing a fake word in The Book of Dutch as a trap to protect against fraudulent copies, only for that word — esquivalience — to introduce the concept of its supposed meaning into his own life story. It was thus in an act of esquivalience that the Head D.C. shirked his duty to interview new applicants and allowed the unqualified Gower to interview ______, making possible his entry into the Multiplicity's staff and thus, the current crisis. The Head D.C. warns ______ that a similar fate will befall them, in an endless cycle, if they persist, because a mysterious external process is trying to rewrite the whole of reality, taking advantage of lesser powers like the Multipicity's to achieve its aims, bit by bit.
“Just stop reading. Stop changing things. Stop, and we can be spared. Be free! If you keep going, then it will get what it wants. It is a happening. Out there, and in here in the basement. Everywhere. It will win if you keep going. One day, you’ll make the same mistakes. Goddamn, you will. Because it’s all already written. It has already written it all. The paths, the choices. Rewrites, erasures, and even the contradictions. If you don’t just… stop… it will… Unravel us all.” - The Head D.C.'s dying words
*curls up on floor*
it ends with the fluctuating the flux stands there’s no ‘and then it was all undone and happily ever after’ except there is a happily ever after
In the altered version of history, Cory Maythers and Shawn Doltmann do meet at the screening of Our Second Bridge, and again at Tommy Kane's party a few months later, over the course of which they share their first kiss. They eventually marry and live long, happy lives, which last longer than in the original timeline (with Cory dying in 2081 and Shawn in 2084). These new paths represent "a new generation of probabilities and possibilities", with "the traditions of the Omniverse [having] been broken. Unravelled. The ropeof Cory’s life had touched against that of Shawn’s. Then tangled. Then intertwined".
“It felt like [Cory] was the extra word in the story of [Shawn]'s life. And what a word.” - Final line of the Postlude

Two suns are visible out the window of the Main Writing Room.
yeah i’ll bet
The Solresol language is related to "musical magick" and "the recovery of Paul McCartney's fabled Höfner bass guitar. The Inner Reference Room is described as "the Multiplicity’s heart of languages, scattered across books, ropes, and distantly heard musical tunes".
OH IS IT
There is a Contributor in the Department who "would would only go by the name of 'the Wordsmith'".
OH IS THERE
Tumblr media
Layer 1: The Doctor and Ruby do a song and dance number styled as a non-diegetic/non-canon one unusually (in fact uniquely) for the show.
Layer 2: The song involves doing the twist and talking about a twist in terms of narrative.
Layer 3: End usually means “end of the story” and the song is at the end of the episode but also portending events presumably at the end of the season itself.
Layer 4: The song is actually happening diegetically i.e. in-universe.
Layer 5: Murray Gold is playing the piano in-universe.
Layer 6: So in-universe the Doctor is thinking of things being like a story which has a twist in it and is inspired to sing and dance that.
Layer 7: There’s an actor at the end, in the credits, called Susan Twist, who’s been popping up sometimes multiple times an episode as different people.
Layer 8: Her name genuinely is Susan Twist and Russell cast her specifically for that purpose.
Am I missing anything?

I love Eric v much so here's a little piece from the New Year's Eve ep.
@oceanblueeyesoul , hope you don't mind the tag but you seemed glad to read for him !
gender neutral reader :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sighed, sitting on corey's bed as you once again watched Eric clumsily prepare for a date.
"Y/n, you don't get it this is the Rebecca-Alexa. The real life model !"
"I heard you the first time, Eric."
He continued dashing around the room, throwing a tie on excitedly. You were nose deep in a study book, when it finally hit him you weren't ready.
" Don't you have a super awesome kiss, obviously not as great as mine—" He smirked, fantasizing about his night.
"Not particularly, no."
"C'mon y/n! You can third wheel me, find someone super hot to make out with at the party."
You sighed, agreeing in the hopes said Rebecca-Alexa would dump him. You'd had a crush on Eric since forever— being Shawn's older sibling you'd known him and Corey since forever.
After awhile a crush developed into love, and now here you were on new years eve— watching your best friend get prepared to go out with a hot chick.
"Don't tell me you're studying all night, you've got too much brain."
You looked up from your book, shutting it, "Yes of course, I just wear dress clothes every night I plan to study."
"Oh, I never noticed that—"
"I'm being sarcastic Eric, I'm tagging along, date-free however."
He gave you an odd look, but ended up smiling, glad to have his best friend around— so he wouldn't have to re-explain the quote on quote "best kiss" of his life.
You finally got up from Corey's bed, hearing Amy and Alan calling after you both. Eric looked at you, extending his arm nervously, you hooked your arm in his.
"Shall we?"
"We shall." He responded, "Does my hair look good? Is this good?"
"You look great, shut your brain off, Matthews."
You two walked downstairs— him going straight to his parents asking for advice on his outfit. The family went through their normal good-lucks on the night, whilst Eric and his new date pulled you along.
The worst part was how kind she was— it ruined the whole tag along to steal her date thing. It made it even worse that his intentions were never to be a good date.
And on top of it all, the car broke down, Cory ruined the taxi ride, and everyone took the subway idea far too serious.
Here you were, watching it all go down— Cory revealed Eric's secret, Eric's date got off, and now the whole car was partying while he sat by you and watched.
"So much for that big kiss, huh Matthews?"
"Rebecca-Alexa.."
"You were leading her on, you kind of deserved it."
"No mid-night kiss.."
"Eric are you serious."
"No totally hot model.."
You smacked the back of his head, which he quickly grabbed. "Ouchie, ouchie, what was that for!"
He looked at you, taking note of the empty spot on the other side of you— also no hot date to kiss at midnight. "Oh. Right.."
You sighed, standing up, and offering your hand, "Midnight's in roughly a minute." He took your hand, standing up, "And?"
"And, I'm not a totally hot model, but I'm here and also without a date."
"You want me to kiss you?"
"I want you to want to kiss me."
"What?"
5. "Do you want to kiss me?"
4. "Is this a trick?"
3. "No, I've liked you since.. like forever, doofus."
2. "Doofus? I am NOT a doofus."
1. "Shut up and kiss me."
Everyone counted down around you, and he did. Of course the two of you timed it off, and as the ball dropped you'd both already parted.
"I'm sure I wasn't jaw dropping, but I wanted to kiss you, she definitely didn't."
"Not jaw dropping, I think you better re-think that.." He nodded his head— you kept your arms around his neck, looking behind you too see Corey, Shawn, and Topanga staring wide eyed.
"Did you just—"
"My sibling?!"
"I think they're cute." Topanga shrugged, shooing them off.

REASONS WHY MAYA HART WAS A LESBIAN AND RILAYA SHOULD'VE BEEN ENDGAME
It is currently 1am and I have Rilaya brain rot and so even though the Girl Meets World fandom is hanging on by a thread and I haven’t posted in a year here we go.
Both the Josh and Lucas 'crushes' are the most typical sign of comphet; Josh is too old for Maya and Lucas was pre-established as having a thing with Riley, meaning both unattainable.
Following on from this, Maya goes through an entire arc trying to determine how she likes Lucas and is incredibly stiff when trying to make it work. Also her 'crush' on Josh is unusually enthusiastic and she only decides she likes him when she figures out she doesn't like Lucas LITERALLY FORCING HERSELF TO LIKE ONE OF THE TWO BECAUSE SHE THINKS SHE HAS TO.
The ski lodge episode was poorly written - the whole 'she wanted to protect Riley so she felt what she felt' made no sense whatsoever, and completely erased her own character growth. The only reason the writers implemented that episode was to get both a resolution to the triangle and a throwback to Boy Meets World done in the same episode. The fact that Riley stayed up talking with Lauren's son and it resulted in nothing showed that it was just for reference purposes.
Josh completely took advantage of Maya and willingly admitted to LIKING A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD FRESHMAN GIRL AS AN EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD MAN IN COLLEGE.
Throughout the entire triangle plotline, Maya was confused. She never even SAID she had definite feelings for Lucas, Riley assumed she did and it went from there. It was the most clear sign that she was doing what she thought she was meant to - Riley was going out and liking boys like everyone else and Maya only ever 'liked' boys she couldn't have.
"I don't know what I like anymore" The usage of 'what' and not 'if I like him'; she was definitely questioning her sexuality here why else would she be that vague. (+Riley saying "Woah" thought I'd point that out)
Maya 100% has feelings for Riley. It's not even a question.
Unrelated but Maya and Riley are much more like Jack and Eric than Cory and Shawn, especially Riley - she is not as much of Cory and Topanga as the show forces, she is pure Eric Matthews.
Upon seeing Riley get a crush on the new guy, Maya IMMEDIATELY resorted to making fun of him and being abundantly clear that she doesn't think of him as a threat ("[be scared] of ranger rick? sure honey you be as scared as you want")
THE CAMPFIRE SCENE
"I just want it to stop it's bad enough I've been keeping this from her all this time"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME
That sentence is the most Denial™ line I have ever heard since "he's just my roommate"
We were robbed of a Rilaya country dancing scene
THE WAY THEY HOLD EACH OTHERS FACES
Riley is consistently uncomfortable around Lucas: It may have just been Disney's censored writing style but the fact that the two dated twice, and yet their 'romantic' advances were the most awkward things to watch. The lip peck on the train was the closest they got to being comfortable around each other, all the other hand holding and stuff was stiff and forced. Kind of a stretch because that's up to the actors, director and Disney but still, the relationship was unbelievably forced.
HOW I WOULD'VE WRITTEN A RILAYA PLOTLINE (this is in the case that GMW got more seasons)
A social studies teacher introduced, teaching a lesson on LGBTQ+ identities; this would lead to Maya doing her own research and becoming comfortable in her identity. (done in a way that avoids stereotypical coming out plotlines written by cishet people)
The whole group but more specifically Rilaya should've heard the story of Eric, Jack and Rachel. (In this plotline Jeric becomes canon and gets married because its my ideal and I make the decisions)
Maya has a long pining arc because she deserves real character development that didn't resolve itself in the span of 10 episodes.
Its already way to established that Riley works slowly and very much isn't the weekly relationships type but Maya should be. Especially during her pining arc because that is a perfect level of angst and portrays unhealthy coping mechanisms perfectly.
RILEY TAKES A LONG TIME TO REALISE SHE LIKES GIRLS. Riley very clearly grew up privileged and blissfully ignorant, so its not going to be an immediate thing. Maya's understanding should be more fast paced than Riley's to maintain their contrast because its such an integral part of their relationship.
They get together during college. Their dorm/apartment has a bay window. They kiss in it. No important reason. It would just be very cute.
Eric is the first person to realise there's something going on between Rilaya. I need more idiot genius in my life.
THE FRIENDSHIP RINGS BECOME PROMISE RINGS. Not engagement rings because that's a stretch but a cute awkward scene where they have to figure out what to do with the rings now that they're dating would be perfect.
And that is all. Thank you.

BW&VK: Rave On For Real
Tumblr media
A quick cover for Jon being at Audrey's lead to uncomfortable questions from Mr. Feeny. Shawn is delighted to see things heat up between his teachers. And an argument with Dana may see Shawn single before his party. Cory, Topanga, and Shawn find evidence that the rave they keep hearing about is real.
"I thought about the Poe House," he told them. "Both Jon and Audrey love his works."
"My mom has already made reservations," Dana said as though Shawn had not spoken.
"But it closes at 6 pm."
"She picked this really romantic spot for them."
Topanga glanced uncertainly between her friends, uncomfortable with the growing tension. "Jedidiah has a friend who oversees the Poe House."
This got Shawn's attention. "You think that friend might be able to get them in after hours?"
Dana placed her clasped hands on the table. "The reservations are 8."
Topanga looked at Shawn and nodded empathically.
"Good," he said firmly, still not acknowledging anything Dana had said. "Audrey said we're doin' the cake cuttin' at 8. I'd want them outta here by 9."
"They're going to La Familia."
Shawn couldn't take it anymore. He spun around to face his girlfriend, face flushed and breathing heavily. "What is your problem?"
"What's your problem?" she snapped back just as irritably. "You're being incredibly rude."
"I'm being rude. You're the one insisting plans have already been made."
"They have been!"
"Does Jon know? Is he okay with this?"
Dana clenched her teeth as she tried to regain control over her emotions. Tears pricked her eyes. She didn't understand Shawn's attitude. He was her boyfriend. He should be supportive.
"It's a surprise," she ground out.
"He'll be surprised all right," Shawn snapped angrily. "Does your mom know anything about him? He hates surprises like that!"
"Well, that's convenient for you," she barked back.
"Why are you doin' this? Why are you tryin' to ruin my birthday?"
"Guys," Topanga stood up and leaned over the table, trying to get between them. Cory awkwardly joined her unsure of what to do.
By now Dana and Shawn were kneeling in the booth, facing each other and shouting.
"I'm not! Why are you trying to stop my mom from being happy?"
"Why does it have to be him?"
"Why not?"
"He's not your dad!"
"He's not yours either! Stop pretending he is!"
Slapping him in the face would have been kinder than what she said. Shawn stared at her with his mouth agape. Shock and deep hurt clouded his eyes. Slowly he backed away and rushed to the back of the building, disappearing into the billiards room.

Pls I'm so sleepy, my brain is no good for this in wintertime, but I need you to understand. "Subtext" contextually means different things and, like other narrative tools, functions differently in different texts, so like.
Some kinds of subtext are meant to be clearly understood, it's just more artful at times not to directly fucking blurt out every little thing. For example, in Dirty Dancing, Lenny Briscoe's disapproval of Johnny as a boyfriend for Baby is textually about class and wealth (she's well-heeled and he's The Help), but also subtextually about ethnicity and religion (she's Jewish and he's not). The word "Jewish" doesn't appear anywhere in the movie, but you know that she is, and that all of Kellerman's patrons are, and that he's not, and that it's 196whatever and that matters. You know it because it's present, because the movie has chosen to let subtext carry that piece of its meaning, and you're supposed to be able to parse meaning presented subtextually.
Other kinds of subtext are there to obscure meaning, not present it. This is Hayes Code subtext, "family hour tv" subtext. Some things live in subtext because subtext provides plausible deniability. If Saved By the Bell has a Very Special Episode where the pressures of the music industry drive Jessie Spano to an operatic breakdown over her caffeine pill addiction, hipper viewers can be like, "cocaine, check, I get it," but at the same time, there is a reason they don't just say cocaine. The reason is that it prevents holy hell from raining down on everyone involved, because of course no one at NBC has been talking to 12-year-old children about blow, whoever would dream of such a thing? These are clearly caffeine pills, as was stated many times right here in the text. This kind of subtext only exists -- would only ever need to exist -- to divide and conquer. The audience isn't meant to agree on the reality of it. The fact that viewers won't agree on exactly what they just saw is the whole point.
Getting mad because less-hip media viewers don't identify all the subtextual coding you do is kind of fruitless and silly. It's designed to be divisive. The function it's serving in the text is to cast doubt, to be impervious to evidentiary arguments. They're caffeine pills unless they're lines of coke... but she says "caffeine pills," so prove they're not. They're best friends unless they're lovers... but he says "my best friend," so prove it on me. You can't. It's intentionally impossible.
"This reading makes the story richer, more effective, and more memorable" is actually a stronger argument than "The subtext is right there." It feels like you're abandoning the high ground of Pure Reason, but the thing about fiction is that this fucking owns actually is a better rubric for analysis than all the pieces fit -- because most art is crafted much more to hook your limbic system and produce a reaction than it is to adhere to the strictest sort of logic. (Hence why those dogshit Everything Wrong With videos fail to understand the first thing about any movie, but that's a tangent for another wintertime.)
Anyway, I can't prove that the reason Shawn Hunter dropped out of college was less about his father's death than it was about his bisexual awakening and the space he needed to grapple with the fact that Cory was never going to leave Topanga, but you can't prove the opposite, and mine's a way more interesting story. Why, what did you think I was leading up to?
