Hello. What is your general interpretation of Voldemort's character? There are so many but so far your fanfictions with him are one of the few I agree with.
Oh boy.
This is a very difficult question to answer. Namely, I view a very distinct difference between cannon Voldemort, and my Voldemort. In truth, we don't see that much of cannon outside of larger event points. This causes us to speculate on a lot of his characterization or potential reasons leading to his eventual actions.
I deeply hope you're referring to Diablerie for how I view him, since that is my attempt to give reasoning to actions.
Larger interpretation: he is not antisocial personality (despite what people often say). I'd say he has had significant recurrent exposure to a stressor or trauma in childhood/youth, forcing him to simultaneously have very high self-awareness and very high self-criticism.
Rationale: he doesn't fit the "classic" antisocial, nor does he fit any other personality disorders. Sure, he has traits, but those are developed via situational factors and environments. Don't get me wrong, he's one bitch of a person, but he isn't a clean cut diagnosis as much as people want him to be. He isn't fleshed out enough by the books to give concrete information. Sure, in the books how we see him you could loosely equate him to antisocial (or that's how I think J.K. Rowling tried to accomplish. Maybe read some WebMD articles and thought they had it down), but the inconsistencies lay in the fact that he couldn't end up where we see him if he continuously acted that way. How he is in Hogwarts does not match how he is outside of Hogwarts. That's the problem, so I attempted my best to flesh out how he got to where he is with the most logical development I could, while omitting some other traits. That's all I could do without making a full case-study
General interpretation: He's J.K. Rowling's attempt to write a "psychopath" without knowing how to do so, then back-peddled, then made him a paradox that irritates me to this day.
(If you want me to actually explain this in super depth, let me know. I figured this was long enough as an Ask. I could vent for hours about this)
(Oh, and I am currently typing this from my office, where I work on an inpatient behavioural health unit/mental health unit on my lunch break. You think analyzing them is hard, I'm out here trying to reform them.)
