do you hate a room in your house and don’t know why even though it’s already decorated? behold: my guide to not hating that room, brought to you by my own personal discoveries and design accidents
not to sound like one of the listicles I write for work, but here are five things you can add to a room (individually or all of them) to make you like it more
1. Small Lamp
“I don’t need a lamp — I have the Big Light and it doesn’t bother me.”
Get lamp. It makes the room softer. Great for bedrooms. Doesn’t have to be pricey either — I got one for $15 at Home Sense and when I turned it on, I was like “oh 🧍”
2. Plants (Real or Fake)
Now I really am going to sound like a listicle but there have been studies that have shown that greenery (real AND fake) can reduce stress levels because you’re a fucking mammal Susan and you need greenery in your enclosure.
Plants also make a space look dope as hell. Check out any Pinterest photo. Does it have plants in it? Remove the plants with your eyes. Do you still like the room or was it just the plants? You could still like the room, but the plants add something.
Consider getting a big leafy boy for the corner of the room you don’t like, or grabbing one from another part of your house. If you have a shelf or a dresser/bookcase, get a plant that hangs down a little.
3. Curtains
Curtains are great if you can’t paint because they can add a lot of color or patterns to one wall. They can be a little pricey, but sometimes you can find good deals on basic colors. They sell in panels, though, so keep that in mind.
“I already have curtains tho — it doesn’t make sense to get more.” If you don’t like your curtains and you can afford it, switch them out. Trying to work with curtains that are a color you despise won’t make you like the room more.
If you don’t know what color to go with, check out rooms on Pinterest with similar color palettes and see what they’re using. If you don’t have a color palette and you don’t have one in mind, try going with your favorite color and then going from there.
4. Duplicate Something You Like From Another Room
One of my favorite rooms in my house is my living room bc I’m a color slut, and one of my favorite things in it is this chidi rug I got from a clearance store. I brought it into my bedroom to make sure I liked it in there first before I went and got another one from Five Below, and I love it in there.
5. Books
This is the one that actually inspired me to make this post bc it was so easy I wanted to eat drywall. If you love books and/or have books somewhere else in your house, go grab a handful of them that are in the color palette you want for that room and arrange them on a shelf in that room.
It adds a lot of color in a short amount of time, and you don’t have to buy anything.
I literally just did this in my bedroom with pink, orange, and yellow books and mirrored what I have going on in my office where there’s some stacked and some vertical and then, on the stacked ones, you put a little plant (real or fake).
Instantly liked my bookcase-turned-dresser; it was embarrassing.
Tumblr media
These are just five things I’ve personally found have really made a room come together and have made me hate it less 🤝 hopefully it helps other folks in the same boat

What Most Bangalore Builders Won’t Tell You About Choosing the Right Stone
When building or renovating a home in Bangalore, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is choosing the right stone for your kitchen countertops, flooring, or bathroom surfaces. Yet, most builders will give you the same generic options—without telling you the full picture.
Let’s be honest: not every stone is made equal. And when it comes to granite or quartz, you deserve to know what really matters before you spend your hard-earned money.
1. Granite and Quartz Look Similar—But Perform Very Differently
Most builders won’t take the time to explain the pros and cons. Granite is natural, durable, and unique in pattern. Quartz, on the other hand, is engineered, non-porous, and much easier to maintain. If you cook often or have kids at home, quartz might save you time and stress.
2. Not All Stones Are First-Quality (Even if They Say So)
This one’s important. Some vendors push cheaper second-grade stone at full price. Without the right knowledge, you may end up with slabs that chip, stain, or fade too quickly. Always ask for certified first-quality stone—and see it in natural light before buying.
3. Think Long-Term, Not Just About Today’s Price
Builders often focus on the lowest quote to fit the budget. But cheap stones can cost you more later—whether in repairs, replacement, or resale value. Investing a little more in high-quality quartz or granite from a trusted supplier like Cristo Stone can actually save money long term.
4. Maintenance Can Make or Break Your Experience
Granite needs sealing and periodic maintenance. Quartz doesn’t. But your builder might not tell you that upfront. If you're looking for a low-maintenance lifestyle, especially in Bangalore’s humid weather, quartz is often the smarter choice.
5. Your Kitchen Deserves More Than a Standard Finish
Polished black granite? Everyone’s seen it. But what about matte, leathered, or honed finishes? Or bold quartz patterns that mimic marble without the upkeep? Don’t settle for the standard builder-grade look. You have more options than you think—and they can transform your home’s entire vibe.

“Wooden Blinds NZ: Easy Maintenance Tips to Preserve Their Beauty”
Tumblr media
Wondering how to keep your wooden blinds looking as good as new? Wooden blinds NZ are an investment in your home’s style and comfort. Like any investment, they need regular care to stay beautiful and functional. Fortunately, maintaining wooden blinds is easier than you might think. With some simple habits and a bit of attention, your blinds will continue to look fresh and work perfectly, whether you live in sunny Auckland or anywhere else in New Zealand.
Simple Maintenance Tips for Wooden Blinds in New Zealand
Start with regular dusting — this is the easiest and most effective way to keep your blinds looking pristine. Use a soft microfibre cloth or a feather duster to gently remove dust from the slats. For more stubborn dirt, wipe the blinds carefully with a slightly damp cloth, but avoid soaking the wood, as excess moisture can cause warping or damage the finish.
Protecting your wooden blinds from harsh sunlight is also key. Continuous exposure to strong sunlight can fade the wood over time, dulling its natural beauty. To prevent this, consider layering your window treatments with sheer curtains or using UV-protective window films.
Controlling indoor humidity is another important step. New Zealand’s climate can be quite variable, and excessive humidity can lead to mould or warping on wooden blinds. Using a dehumidifier or ensuring good ventilation helps maintain the perfect indoor environment for your timber blinds.
When cleaning, avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive products. These can strip the wood’s protective coating and cause permanent damage. Stick to gentle, wood-safe cleaners if needed.
When Should You Call the Pros for Wooden Blinds NZ?
Some situations call for professional help, such as:
Blinds installed in hard-to-reach windows or awkward angles.
Custom wooden blinds with delicate finishes that require expert care.
Repairs or refinishing when the wood shows signs of cracking, warping, or other damage.
Professionals can deep clean or restore blinds, extending their lifespan and saving you the hassle of DIY fixes.
Conclusion:
A little care goes a long way when it comes to maintaining wooden blinds NZ. Regular dusting, avoiding moisture, protecting against sun damage, and controlling humidity are the key ingredients to keeping your blinds looking new for years. Whether you tackle maintenance yourself or bring in professionals when needed, these tips will help your wooden blinds remain a beautiful and functional feature of your home.

🏡✨ The Ultimate Guide to Small Space Living & Organization
Maximize Every Inch Without Sacrificing Style
Living in a small space doesn’t mean giving up on comfort or style—it’s all about smart choices, clever storage, and creative thinking. Whether you’re in a studio apartment, tiny home, or just trying to make your space feel less cramped, this guide is your blueprint to stress-free, beautifully organized small-space living. 💡
Tumblr media
1. Think Vertical, Not Just Horizontal
When floor space is limited, look up! 🪜 Use tall shelving units, hanging racks, or pegboards to store items without cluttering the room. Vertical storage draws the eye upward, making your space look bigger and more open.
2. Multi-Functional Furniture Is a Game Changer
Say goodbye to one-trick pieces. 🛋️ Choose furniture that works double duty—like ottomans with hidden storage, wall-mounted fold-out desks, or sofa beds. A coffee table that stores blankets? Yes, please. 💼
3. Declutter Like a Minimalist, Organize Like a Maximalist
Tiny spaces force you to evaluate what you truly need. 🧺 Use the "one in, one out" rule for clothes and decor. Then, organize everything with clear bins, labeled boxes, and tiered trays to keep your things visible but tidy.
4. Mirrors: Your Secret Weapon
🪞 Mirrors reflect light and space—making your room appear twice as large. Place them across from windows to maximize natural light or on closet doors for a sleek, space-saving touch.
5. Zoning Is Essential
Even small spaces benefit from functional "zones." 🧘‍♀️ Use rugs, lighting, or furniture placement to define a cozy reading nook, a work corner, or a sleep zone. Each area should feel purposeful, even if they share the same square footage.
6. Use Light, Neutral Colors
🎨 Light hues open up a room visually. Go for soft whites, pale grays, and muted pastels for walls and large furniture pieces. Add pops of color through pillows, art, or plants to keep it vibrant.
7. Floating Everything
✨ From shelves to nightstands, floating furniture gives the illusion of more space and makes cleaning easier. Wall-mounted pieces offer storage without bulk.
8. Smart Storage Hacks That Actually Work
Over-the-door organizers for shoes, accessories, or cleaning supplies
Rolling carts that can tuck away when not in use
Magnetic strips for knives, tools, or makeup
Vacuum-sealed bags for off-season clothing or bedding
Final Thoughts 🌟
Small space living isn't about limitation—it's about intention. When you choose to live smarter, every item, nook, and cranny works for you. By blending functionality with style, you’ll create a space that feels just as expansive as any large home.
Ready to fall in love with your small space? Let’s turn tiny into timeless. 🛠️💖

The Biggest Mistakes to Avoid When Designing Your Dream Home in Dubai
Tumblr media
Designing a dream home is exciting, but let’s be honest—it’s also a bit of a minefield. One wrong step, and you’re stuck with a kitchen island that’s too big, lighting that’s too dim, or a living room that feels more like a furniture showroom than a home.
Ignoring the Power of Lighting
Lighting can make or break a space. Too bright, and it feels like a hospital; too dim, and you’re living in a cave. The trick? Layered lighting. Use a mix of ceiling lights, floor lamps, and wall sconces to create a balanced, inviting atmosphere. Studies show that proper lighting can boost mood and productivity by up to 23%—worth paying attention to!
Sacrificing Function for Aesthetics
A sleek, all-white sofa looks stunning—until a guest spills coffee on it. Beautiful doesn’t always mean practical. The best designs balance style with usability. Think about your daily routine before making big choices, whether it’s furniture, flooring, or storage.
Choosing Trends Over Timelessness
Trends come and go, but your home is here to stay. That flashy wallpaper or ultra-modern furniture set might feel like a good idea now, but will it still feel fresh five years down the line? Classic designs with small trendy accents tend to stand the test of time.
Skimping on Storage
There’s no such thing as too much storage. Ever. It’s easy to underestimate how much space you’ll need for everyday items. Smart built-in shelves, hidden compartments, and multi-functional furniture can save you from future clutter. A study found that 67% of homeowners regret not adding more storage during the design phase.
Not Working with Experts
Even the most design-savvy homeowners benefit from professional insight. Famous interior design companies know how to balance layout, materials, and budget while avoiding costly mistakes. They can help refine your vision and turn it into a space that feels both luxurious and livable.
FAQ
How do I choose the right color palette for my home? Stick with neutral bases and add pops of color through accessories. This allows flexibility if your style evolves over time.
What’s a common mistake people make with furniture placement? Pushing everything against the walls! Floating furniture arrangements create better flow and conversation-friendly spaces.
Should I hire famous interior design companies for my project? If you want a home that looks stunning without the trial-and-error, professionals can help bring your ideas to life seamlessly.
