Bridge the gap between WIC and SNAP/EBT/Foodstamps so its not so limited and runs on the same simplified program instead of paper checks that are only good for "x ounces of x food" and increase how much everyone gets each month

make a national standard that makes it easier for people to receive benefits via taking *living expenses* and transportation into account; no more "sorry you make too much to get food stamps" meanwhile 90% of a paycheck is going towards rent and everything else is going to utilites.

Enshrine abortion rights at the federal level

Enshrine queer rights, including healthcare, at the national level

Close Guantanamo bay and release the prisoners with full reparations and medical support

i installed open video downloader, a FLOSS utility for ripping youtube videos, which is such an easy to use & convenient program, & it reminded me of the campaign i went on (completely unsuccessfully) a couple years ago to get clickless mouse added to the patron computers in my public library, because i had watched multiple older adults struggle immensely to double-click on our computers, went looking for an easy solution for them, & found that someone had already thoughtfully written an elegant & adaptable little program, initially intended as an accessibility tool for a particular friend of theirs. this is why i love FLOSS projects so much: they're usually personal passion projects, at least at the outset, & they reflect such powerfully pro-social values that even when they have nothing to offer me in particular i am delighted by them. thank u to all FLOSS devs <3

I wanted this to be flexible enough to handle any masterlist of campaign links, not just Gazavetters. Other amazing efforts include el-shab-hussein and nabulsi's spreadsheet, Operation Olive Branch, Bees and Watermelons, the Butterfly Effect project, the Strawberry Seed collective, and definitely more that I don't have in my bookmarks folder. You could absolutely swap out all the names and links for any of theirs and the scraper would do most of the rest.

Kids in Gaza don't have a lot to be happy about. Fortunately, my other talent and hobby is locating and acquiring media. I've managed to obtain a rip of the entire children's section of an Arabic audiobook platform, a decent amount of Iftah Ya Simsim (Sesame Street), and an animated educational series about Muslim scholars and their contributions to science and philosophy. I'm working with a mate to get these as small and accessible as possible, before I share them privately. I've got... oh, about 475GB worth of material so far? Let's see how these projects go, as well as my own fundraisers (Shaima Fatima Aya Asmaa) plus the other 17 I'm advocating for (see my pinned post for details), and we'll see what happens. Peace. a couple of things passed the house:

the SAVE act, and the No Rogue Rulings Act.

for those not in the clear, these two bills are related to Trump's playbook in his Project 2025. the save act is supposed to stop married women from voting, however this will only fester to a more worse outcome, if fully passed. the no rogue rulings act stops the courts from taking trump's executive orders to court. basically, he's stopping them from deciding if his eo's are unconstitutional, so he'll continue to worsen the government to his will.

as i said, these two have passed. however, they have to go through senate first, before it goes to the president.

here's the screenshot i took during the voting process for the no rogue rulings act.

as far as repealing section 230 goes, it's waiting for a final vote in the house. throughout the week, i'd advise you all to start calling your senators, and house representatives to deny all of these horrible bills.

i'll see if there's any call scripts available, however, don't let that stop you from calling them. here's this website where you can find your senators, same with your house reps. you can also email, and fax them if you'd like.

here's the process for at least two bills that was discussed today. i wasn't able to find anything related to sunsetting (repealing) section 230 on the congress website, however it's dangerously close to passing in the house. here's the save act page, and here's the no rogue rulings act page. reminder that there's multiple versions of each of these bills for some reason, so keep that in mind.
