Find Out Why the Oil and Gas Industries Need Better Security and Surveillance Strategies

The oil and gas industry is so far one of the most evolved industries in recent years. With an upward CAGR of 5.2% between 2020 and 2025, the industry is estimated to grow its revenue to $32.5B by 2025. While the industry size grew, so did its safety challenges, particularly in the arena of cybersecurity, owing to the volatility of the industry. Experts claim that the major dependency of these industries on cyber security structures for daily functioning accounts for the growing cyber-attacks on the oil and gas sectors. These security breaches result in huge losses within the oil and gas market.

Furthermore, the workers face several challenges due to poor surveillance of the hazardous areas within the sectors. Read further to understand the security threats to the oil and gas industry and how modern technology can be adopted to counter them.
Security and Surveillance Challenges Faced for Oil and Gas Site Security
1. Improper Training and Awareness
Employees working in the oil and gas industries do not receive adequate training on security and surveillance. Being unaware of the dos and don’ts of proper security, the workers are not familiar with the right ways to conduct work without being vulnerable. Experts believe that effective training and awareness among employees should be the major step for reducing such cyber threats. However, training workers might be a bit expensive, and why several industrial sites often make it an optional measure - severely impacting the fatality rates of the site in the long run.
2. Poor Security and Surveillance Policies and Practices
Policies of surveillance and security in the oil and gas industry are often not at par with the recommended industry standards. We agree that creating the right policies will take time, effort, and workforce, but it should be a must when the security of the organization is concerned. The internet is a great source for instructions on how proper security policies must be formed. However, the company should always hire professionals for the job instead of relying on unauthorized information on the web. When the security and surveillance policies are unclear, the workers are misled. Following the wrong security practices often makes the industry susceptible to major cyber threats. To avoid such dire situations, organizations must take charge of creating the right policies, training the employees about them, ensuring that the policies are followed thoroughly, and updating the rules whenever needed.
3. Inadequate Protection against Explosion
Oil and gas sectors deal with hazardous chemicals which make the working environment explosive. Improper surveillance has become a major threat nowadays, especially when the workplace is filled with hazardous substances. Traditional cameras are not built to resist the challenging work conditions in the oil and gas industry, including high and fluctuating temperatures, pressure, and hazard protection. Even the smallest spark from these electronics can cause a huge explosion when the come in contact with the volatile atmosphere with combustible air-borne particles. Failing to invest in cameras suited for hazardous sites can result in several fatalities and major accidents at oil and gas sites globally.
4. Ineffective IT and Industrial Network Separation
Oil and gas industries are making hasty decisions of punching their industrial networks with IT networks for faster processing of data between IT and OT sectors. Even though this is a more affordable option, it brings in many unwanted security threats to the company. Cybercriminals are aware of such networking and they know if a small portion of the network is hacked, the entire system will shut down. To prevent this, the oil and gas technicians need to come up with better strategies for using the networks effectively.
5. Insufficient Security of the Onshore and Offshore Networks
Using IT protocols within the Industrial Control Systems has severely affected the security of the networks. Besides this, other new vulnerable technologies have also made their appearance in the oil and gas sectors. One of them is the cloud storage facility. Many data breaches take place when vital industries like oil and gas companies decide to store their data in cloud spaces. Preference to a cost-effective system by such sites often comes at the expense of major damages and losses at the hands of cyber attackers.
Important Security Touchpoints for Oil and Gas Site Security
Investing in Explosion-Proof Surveillance Solutions
To ensure that the workers are safe while working in such explosive conditions of the oil and gas industry, companies should install the best quality Explosion-Proof Cameras. More than half of the surveillance threats can be reduced when the area is protected with the right camera system. Explosion-proof cameras contain the spark within the housing of the wire and prevent their contact with the explosives in the atmosphere. By doing so, they secure the workplace against any explosions caused by electrical malfunctioning of the surveillance tools. Smart camera analytics used in a hazardous area camera is the solution to most of the security issues. As they come in a wide range of prices, you can find one that fits your budget easily. Furthermore, exploring a wide range of ex-proof cameras by reliable providers like SharpEagle ensures that the opted surveillance solutions are tailored to address the specific challenges of the industrial site for a long period of time.

Proper Training of Workers
As discussed before regular training of the workers in equipment handling and safer workplace practices can be very expensive, considering the business and human costs it needs. However, taking the security threats into account, the company might stand to lose way more in human and infrastructure liabilities if accidents occur due to the negligence of an untrained worker. When compared to the losses faced by the company as a result of security threats, the training expenses seem far less. The company must have a policy to employ only those workers who undergo a proper understanding of cyber security matters and safety training within the industry, irrespective of their experience before employment.
Improved Verification Technology
Ensure that the latest verification technology is incorporated at the industry for advanced perimeter security and protection against physical and cyber intruders. Some of these technological measures include the employment of better resources in access permission management, digital ID validation, and digital attendance verification. Additionally, the integration of AI-powered solutions can enable managers to monitor the premises 24/7 through smart detection of intruders and situational analysis.
Remote Access and Central Control Management
Dispersed security systems across the site result in disparate access control and disconnected data, making crisis management extremely challenging. Remote management and centralised control are key pillars of efficient risk management in hazardous industries like oil and gas. Standardised systems and centralised control make it much easier to optimise security and surveillance since it ensures easier integration with the other devices, allowing managers to assess risks and respond to them much more efficiently. For instance, the high-temperature fluctuation can be detected through an alarm and its integration with the ex-proof camera can directly show the problem to the central management, allowing them to remotely manage the emergency without causing a major accident and/or panic among the workers.
Smart Video Analytics
Security cameras and motion sensors are highly sensitive and, thus, often susceptible to false alarms that cause major disruptions in the daily operations of the oil and gas industry. Furthermore, it is impossible to conduct in-depth surveillance for 200+ cameras installed at an oil and gas site, often leading to serious security breaches. The incorporation of AI-powered video analytics helps in smart detection, allowing the managers to focus on specific feeds where it detects malpractices and security breaches due to unverified facial recognition. Furthermore, it conducts a thorough threat analysis, filtering the false alarms and preventing unnecessary disruptions for smoother operations at the oil and gas industries.
Conclusion
In conclusion, safety and security measures are no longer optional to counter the modern challenges faced by the oil and gas industry. Industries that fail to comply with the safety standards set by regulatory bodies like OSHA faces serious penalities and fines for negligence. On the other hand, the incorporation of the recommended safety measures helps in reducing false alarms, generating situational awareness, and avoiding business liability and unnecessary costs. As discussed above, explosion-proof cameras are an indispensable measure to achieving the ideal standards in oil and gas site security. Learn more.

One day, I hope we get a bangtan bomb of Jimin sitting in a little production office with a laptop in front of him, sorting through cute overniggt stays with the production crew for his little getaways with Jungkook
Most people might not realize it, but Jimin played an integral part in planning these trips. He ensured they had great restaurants to visit, arranging for a motorcycle, being able to go on adventures, a yacht, and selecting fun activities like kayaking and indoor rock climbing and karting. He had the time to do all this while Jungkook was busy being lived by his schedule. Furthermore, Jimin has the intrinsic need to take care of Jungkook's mental health by making sure he takes time off to unwind.
The whole of AYS?! contained all of the things Jimin knew Jungkook wouldn't personally have made time for, even though he loves them while he's doing them.
Like Namjoon and Seokjin discussed, Jimin is the one to take Jungkook on adventures, to open up his world to experience something other than being a homebody. If that isn't the perfect combination of two personalities, then I don't know what is.
Let's break it down. Cutely.
Jungkook loves adventure. Jimin loves Jungkook to go on adventures. Jungkook loves eating. Jimin loves Jungkook to eat well. Jungkook loves to ride motorcycles. Jimin wants him to do it safely. Jungkook loves nature. Jimin is a wood fairy. Jungkook doesn’t like to embarrass himself. Jimin will laugh at him because making mistakes is human and a good way to remind him to stay humble. Jungkook loves to cuddle. Jimin loves to keep him warm, even if it is through a stomach bug induced fever. Jungkook loves boxing. Jimin's nose would like a word. Jungkook loves to feel unburdened and normal. Jimin will take him to sea to live out his Jack Dawson fantasies. Jungkook loves snowboarding. Jimin wants to excel in that which he sets his mind to and isn't afraid of switching mediums to still feel accomplished. Jungkook loves to soak. Jimin loves to soak. Being dressed for it was sadly mandatory. Jungkook loves to cook for Jimin. Jimin loves to eat what Jungkook serves him. And well. Jungkook loves to drink but will refrain when it isn't convenient. Jimin loves soju but isn't opposed to beer and whiskey because that's what Jungkook loves. Jungkook loves to pretend he's a stranger being flirted with. Jimin loves to approach a dark and handsome boy to talk him up, be it in a bar, or a (little) boat. The authorities are a different kink altogether. Jungkook needs to put on sunscreen. Jimin too, but on Jungkook. Jungkook loves to shop. Jimin loves to make him laugh by being silly in a store. Jungkook loves snacks. Jimin loves to push around a shopping cart until the man finds his holy grail, but he will complain while doing it. Jungkook loves to tease Jimin. Jimin loves the attention, but he will complain while getting it. Jungkook loves to take care of camera angles and audio equipment. Jimin has accepted the presence of a tiny camera in his personal space. Jungkook loves to watch Jimin being silly or sleepy or confident. Jimin loves to be unapologetically himself and is happy he can whenever he is around Jungkook. Jungkook loves smooth legs. Jimin arrives prepped and ready to roll. 💜 💛
Jungkook loves Jimin.
Jimin loves Jungkook.
And being together is more important than choosing a less difficult hardship. Being able to speak without words, just by a look, a touch, a gesture, is more valuable than anything else they have to endure.

Autistic Anime Girls Group 3 Round 2 Match 8

SUBMISSION PROPAGANDA:
Franziska -
"Prodigy in her field, forced to be an adult whilst she was very much still a child. Franziska canonically became a prosecutor at the age 13 so that she was able to start prosecuting the same year as her "little" brother (Just what she calls him - he's seven years older than her), and consequently has to act like she is a mature adult desire being a young teenager. She has really bad emotional regulation (her in-game running gag is whipping people, because her whip is a comfort item to her, and she's been using that motion whenever she gets annoyed since she was really young.), but acts quite haughty, cool and unapproachable so that it doesn't show.
She gets to break down and start crying in the post-credits scene to her debut game because her brother's chased her down to return her whip and show her genuine affection (in his own weird way) and it is SO satisfying.
She calls everyone by their full name nearly exclusively, even her brother. She gets flustered when people do this back to her.
She is obsessed with running investigations in her own "perfect" way in accordance with her family creed, and likes to take charge to make sure this occurs. (Gets visibly distressed when she gets credited for a surprise search on a building that she did not order) At one point, she is SHOT by an ASSASSIN outside the courthouse and STILL tries to go in to prosecute anyway because this is her case and she has it all planned out, and is very upset when her brother forces her to go to hospital instead.
She also repeats a lot of motions that she's picked up from people around her, notably clutching the fabric of her sleeve on her right shoulder like her father does, and smugly wiggling her finger at people like her father and brother do.
I think she's often overlooked for being autistic because her brother is quite clearly too, and he is a more important character, and at various points, a POV character, but I think she absolutely deserves a spot here!"
Tsubame -
"Tsubame is a bit of a complex case when compared to her friends. She is deeply moved by the art of animation, has a compelling attention to detail in movement, and is able to replicate it through her calling, no matter how long it might take her to accomplish specifically tricky feats. It’s how she chooses to express herself to the world, rather than what her parents imposed on her from a very young age, when she was literally taught how to act, and was pushed to pursue a developing career as a successful actress and model.
She could be a poster child of masking, as she grew up learning how to imitate others, and building a persona through whom she was able to present to the cameras, her parents and admirers. This doesn’t deter her, and she comfortably admits to the other girls in the Motion Picture Club about the seemingly complete neglect she feels from her parents, but nevertheless is happy to finally indulge in her actual passion, fighting tooth and nail to make the high quality animation she aspires to see on a screen: realistic and intrinsically complicated at times, and not compromising a single frame to cutting costs if she can help it (of course, Kanamori does reason with her whenever their projects start struggling to meet a deadline and everyone starts pulling all-nighters).
Definitely doesn’t show it at first, but as soon as she finds a safe space in the company of Midori and Sayaka, she drops the act entirely and progressively lets her true self come out. She is energetic, loves playing around, gets too easily distracted, loves climbing up high places, has an unlimited source of curiosity, and when she’s not strongly focused on her art, she’s always moving around. As someone who crafted a perfect mask from very early on, and who, thankfully, had at least the liberty at home to experiment and have fun unrestrained, she naturally is an example of a girl that likely wouldn’t get diagnosed due to a multitude of factors."

First. I must say, thank you for being an ozpin apologist.
What makes you dislike the Academies so much? Other than maybe the age. Actually how does the system even work? I never cared much for the rwby side stuff (only recently watched the vid on the great war & a reading of The Infinite Man), so if it's mentioned there I wouldnt know. Is it just Combat School-> Huntsman Academy, or is there more to it?
I don't actually dislike the Academies, but a lot of people do. I see them as a neutral/morally gray sort of thing.
In general, how the Huntsman system works seems to be you start training from a young age and then you get into one of the four Academies. A lot of stuff on how it works isn't very clear? But Combat School isn't a requirement to get into the Academies (Jaune and Blake got into Beacon without going into Combat Schools), though it seems to be the most normal, possibly the safest way to train and get into the Academies.
I think an issue is how young people typically start training, which seems to be... 10-13 years old if I had to hazard a guess? Though this doesn't seem to be required either (Jaune got in with no training, and learned quickly, but this doesn't seem to be normal) I don't think, just the norm. It's also unclear if 17 years old is the required age to get into a Huntsman Academy, or if 17 is just the minimum required age with the occasional outlier (i.e. Ruby getting in at 15). I'd say it's more likely 17 is just the minimum required age, since it'd be kinda stupid to not allow people to join based on age lol.
Its also unclear to me if getting into the Huntsman Academies is the ONLY way to become a Hunter. Overall I'd say the Academies are comparable to college, with it being the norm to train from a young age and then get into one of the 4 Academies at 17 at the youngest.
The Academies, to me, also seem to be pretty safe for what they do. No required waivers to get in (waivers, iirc, being legal documents to keep an organization or person from being sued), lots of safety measurements (the cameras in the Emerald Forest and the likelihood of the teachers intervening during initiation and training missions), plus legal processes (Ozpin interviewing teams CVFY and RWBY individually for example, and iirc says that certain things have to happen and if things go wrong he and Glynda are held responsible, etc). It's definitely not foolproof, given the plotline of Hazel's sister, Gretchen, dying during a training mission, but these moments of things going wrong are treated as unusual.
In my opinion, the Academies are definitely necessary on paper. The actual system itself is flawed, and each Academy has their own separate issues given they work independently, but overall the Huntsman Academies aren't as evil as people make them out to be. People are going to have to learn to fight Grimm, considering they're an existential threat, and it was already common to learn how to fight them before; the Academies just centralize the learning and makes it safer to do so, and also offers the necessary resources to learn and make weapons. It's safe to assume that before it was learn to fight Grimm or die, for the most part.
The Academies also help to make non-huntsmen feel safer, since Hunters can also be hired help, and there's lots of Hunters being pumped out every year. People can be protected, or they can learn to fight, where that might not've been an option before.
The Academies DO have flaws, don't get me wrong, but I believe those flaws tend to be intrinsic to the kingdoms themselves rather than always being a flaw of the entire system itself. The episode that reveals Cinders backstory is criticizing Atlas itself, since Rhodes is, presumably, an Atlesian Huntsman and pressures her not to fight her literal slave owners (and this episode is in the Atlas arc, which basically repeats "Atlas fucking sucks" to you a billion different times). Not only that, but Atlas Academy is also pretty tied to the Atlas military, and also doesn't typically let faunus in. These are pretty uniquely Atlas issues, given the other kingdoms don't have militaries and the other kingdoms also let in faunus, including the very anti-faunus kingdom of Mistral.
So the Academies don't all share the same issues, which is pretty clear since Beacon is seemingly the most progressive of the Academies (though still deals with anti-faunus bullying, but Cardin and his team are the only examples and were only seen in v1, so we don't know how common that is either). The criticisms of the Academies are all very region-based so far, and that's the legitimate criticisms (I'm still not sure where people got the impression that students regularly die in the Academies, since there's nothing even implying that).
Basically my opinions of the Academies are that they're more or less necessary, though they do have problems that vary from Academy to Academy (forgot to mention- Shade seems very ableist and strength-based, which is a very Vacuo-unique issue that the other Academies don't deal with). I'd argue the biggest issues lie with the Combat Schools, given how young students start training, though the Combat Schools aren't required.
Otherwise, the Academies lie in a gray area. The people on Remnant don't live like we do; they're in a perpetually post-apocalyptic world with monsters as an existential and very real threat. Even if you don't have any Huntsman relatives, it's still very likely you've either lost someone to the Grimm, or know someone who did. They're a constant threat unless you live a very privileged life, and even then, they can still be a threat. Fighting is a very normal and necessary thing in the world of Remnant, and is pretty much baked into the world's cultures. Civilization being destroyed is a very real threat, and a constant one, and the population on Remnant is much lower than here, IRL. So something like the Academies are genuinely necessary there, whereas it wouldn't be here.
Its a very complicated and nuanced thing lol. People have a hard time really believing that the Academies lie in a gray area, rather than being completely 100% evil and unnecessary. They're very necessary, and have flaws. The only way you can believe they aren't necessary is if you think the Grimm are somehow secretly Not That Bad. Dunno, it's complicated lol.
#felix (host)#rwby#rwby rambles#rwby analysis#rwby meta#beacon academy#shade academy#fr tho the Academies are NOT as bad as ppl make em out to be#not all of them anyways#and the issues they do deal with are systemic#systemic problems are hard af to get rid of#and the Academies are at most like. 80 years old#at most!!#thats a really really short timeframe!#systemic issues don't just disappear like that#its more likely the Academies are like. 60-70 years old#again. short ass time frame#America has had longer to get rid of its own issues and we've only gotten worse tbh#and we don't have to deal with shit like the Grimm#so its not surprising the Academies still have issues esp when the kingdoms themselves still deal with those issues#its surprising how progressive Beacon is!#Vale as a whole is pretty progressive really#in comparison to other kingdoms at least#no thanks to Oz i don't doubt tbh#this IS the guy who singlehandedly abolished monarchies and militaries across the world#regardless it's still surprising Beacon/Vale is the one with the least amount of issues#given the timeframe#idk its just. gestures. ppl overestimate a lot#asks#melancholydonuts

Which btw I'm happy to reblog that sort of thing. (Prev post comparing BDSM to wrestling kayfabe, ie "this is make believe it's fine.")
But I do think an equally significant point is, if someone decides for whatever reason that kink is bad...ok, so what are you going to do about it?
Mostly that's going to cycle back to making things illegal or more difficult. Restricting which zones things like the power exchange can physically exist in. Driving kinky erotica off of Amazon. Restricting people's ability to publish information about kink. Keeping kink talk off of social media sites. Making/keeping it so that there is no legal distinction between consensual impact play and physical assault. Making it harder for people to talk explicitly about kink on dating sites, or in person with their friends.
And the thing about that, is, you can't really stop people from doing whatever they want to do in their own bedrooms (living rooms, cars, tents, hotel rooms, whatever.) Nor can you really stop people from having kinks, from wanting to do this stuff. What you can do is cut people off from community and from safety information, so that when people do do this stuff, it's more dangerous to them.
(Both more directly physically dangerous -- kink is mostly not that dangerous? but there's some risks -- and dangerous as in, people are more likely to get stuck with abusers when they can't talk to people about their relationship, or if they believe no one they talk to will understand.)
For a while it was illegal to produce BDSM porn in the US (or maybe just California? Not sure.) Did that mean BDSM porn didn't exist? Of course not. There were always videos of sexy people hitting each other that other people got off to. It just...had to look like it wasn't porn. So, no affection. No kissing. (Definitely no on-camera negotiation.) They couldn't stop BDSM porn, but they could make it worse.
The first kinky shit I did, in some ways the most extreme kinky shit I did, was with one other person that I met outside of a kink social context. He was going off some photos and his imagination. I'd read some Savage Love, so I at least knew what a safewords was. I didn't have anyone to talk to about what we were doing, I didn't have r/bdsm or anything, I had no way of getting a reality check and no way of getting more safety information as we went. And years later, I found the scene and went to classes and learned why you wrap the rope multiple times around someone's wrists rather than just once and learned about safety scissors and sharp shooting pains and aftercare and negotiation and sub drop and all sorts of things.
And I got really, really angry at the people who want me to only be able to do kink stuff the way I did it the first time. Because they'd rather I get hurt doing kink then be able to do it safely and with a community.
I don't especially want anyone to have a harm reduction approach to kink, because I don't think it's intrinsically harmful. But...I also don't need people to agree with me on that. Anyone who thinks Kink Is Bad, It Just Is well, you're the boss of your opinions! We don't have to agree on everything! But I think there's room to disagree on kink being just fine and also agree that attempting to get people to not do kink, by making it harder or illegal or more stigmatized, can only ever do more harm than good.

heavy, intimidating persona, specially because of ateez' concept. as often, his persona depends a lot on what's being asked of him, what type of content he's making. in general, yunho likes to present as someone who is self composed and reliable, traditional to please the elders yet sexy to please the youngers. he brings extensive power to performances and photoshoots, he likes to look scary sometimes as it's part of the concept. for entertainment purposes, yunho seems to think that the weirder the better, literal self humiliation came through in the cards, he likes to act as an annoying young brother to be funny. this also implies that the person he is on camera is intrinsically different from the person he is in private. he comes up as someone who is welcoming and warm, open to all types of people and non-judgmental. he is definitely a protector of those he sees suffering, as he himself has no problems, no issues and nothing that ever bothers him (🤥). yunho doesn't talk to other celebrities unless he's working with them, I don't think he cares about making friends based on status. I literally got the 3 of cups reversed amongst other cards for this section, he may not relate to the celebrity lifestyle/social life, and just not talk to anyone in a substantial or significant way. conversations seem superficial, like small talk about their job and the weather haha with fans, it's the very classic, tired thing of being obsessed with everyone of them all the time. he follows along to what each fan expects and plays a part/character, specially pretending to be romeo and juliette, "forbidden love" thing. he seems to be quite apathetic about this, this is the heaviest part of the reading, bringing some anxiety and headaches, the cards indicate boredom and a lack of care, it's just his job he don't care, but he may find it embarrassing and laugh at himself sometimes kkkkkkk oh the things we gotta do for money, like calling ourselves a dog
personality
oh yunho is very childlike, he may feel that he's growing up too slowly and doesn't feel like an adult. he can get often distracted and scared, needs someone to protect him from himself in a way. he can be quite self-centered and he doesn't try to be like everybody else, yunho is the type to figure out what works for him personally and go for that with confidence. he can also get vindictive, jealous and when he gets angry it can be extra scary or destructive as he's usually such an easy-going and nice guy (as I know tumblr, this doesn't mean that he beats up walls or people, he may just cut people off or cuss, I know this app loves drama). friends are a big part of yunho's life, he likes to be a leader instead of a follower, decide where they're hanging out, what they're doing, etc (peep yunho and mingi's entire dynamic haha) he prefers having a small number of honest and soulful friendships than an army of followers who only know his name and status. yunho enjoys all sorts of activities with friends, as long as they're together, he doesn't mind, they just gotta match. he enjoys sitting in a garden talking about his feelings as much as he enjoys pretending to be superheroes in a loud bar. his current friendgroup is probably filled with people he's known all or most of his life. yunho seems to hold intense gratitude towards his family, these are the people that know him the best, he'd never deny that. the ones that protect him and make him feel safe to be himself, he doesn't hide his emotions or pretend to be anything around them, he tends to just rest and do nothing around them, unproductive. some of what he considers family may not be blood relatives, found family. he rests by doing absolutely nothing and has fun by doing a lot, he enjoys things that test his morality and explore his psyche, also likes to live vicariously through others, watching stuff (tv, gameplay, youtube, sports, etc), hearing stories (podcasts, books, music, etc) or playing games. he likes the things that shake him up and bother him a bit, bring him out of himself comfort zone while still standing in comfort. when he's alone, he's just lazy, may lack direction and go into survival mode, aka only care about eat, sleep and poop. he may often distract himself to escape boredom by doing many things at once, he likes intense videogames and he may be the type to listen to music, while reading and eating at the same time. he may find his casual, alone self to be boring and try harder to be interesting when in public, he seems nervous about his identity, not in a worrying way, but in a "young adult who is naturally still growing his confidence and sense of self" way. he's also an incredibly supportive and giving person, he would literally die/kill for those he loves and would give away his own house if they needed one. yunho seems like the opposite of materialistic, but he still cares a lot about the quality of what he surrounds himself with, it seems that even when alone he's still trying hard to be a good artist, rehearsing and working beyond the hours requested and alone, he really loves art. he also seems really weird when he's alone, talking to himself, making himself laugh, he may like to prank people too. I'd describe his energy in the private section of the reading as a magical healing starry heart, he's innocent and just genuinely really nice.

Do You Know This (Non-canon) Autistic Character?
Evidence is this Tumblr post!
What it says about Tsubame under the cut!
Tsubame is a bit of a complex case when compared to her friends.
As someone who crafted a perfect mask from very early on, and who, thankfully, had at least the liberty at home to experiment and have fun unrestrained, she naturally is an example of a girl that likely wouldn’t get diagnosed due to a multitude of factors.

NMTDaily: Introducing Leo AND Rebuttal AND tiny bonus video
These episodes are so intrinsically linked that I’m covering them together in one post. Starting with…
Introducing Leo
- Aww, Leo’s so uncomfy on camera. And Bea and Hero are so cute with Bea making the Nothing Much to Do joke and Hero pushing her over. I love these three.
- The sunshine framing them makes this video so pretty, too!
- I love the line “I’m not related to these two.” It’s meta, because in-world it’s a tongue-in-cheek ‘you’re embarrassing’, but out-of-world, it’s the truth. These are three actors who are not related to each other. I don’t know why that tickles me, but it does.
- “You know what I can’t stand about guys?” “Uh, everything?” Perfect.
- Interesting that this is Bea’s chosen topic for a random chatty video that’s supposed to be about introducing Leo to the viewers. For being so anti-boys, she sure has them on the brain.
- This is an incredible modernization of the beard/no beard line from the play, I love it. It does also handily rule out all boys across the board from dating Bea, which is a useful rhetorical strategy when you don’t actually want a boyfriend!
- “I understand me.” “You’re the only one.” This moment is gonna be paralleled later, and I’m already screaming about it. I think people are avoiding spoilers in their liveblogs, so I’ll just omit the context, but I cannot wait for “I’m glad that you understand me.”
- Ben is walking alone, a safe distance behind the group of other kids walking by. Socially anxious behavior. Just saying.
- “See you in Hell, Beatrice.” I adore that they already have inside jokes, that they already gravitate towards each other in class enough for that to happen.
- Leo wanting to defend Bea when nothing is actually wrong: foreshadowing for failing to defend someone else when something IS wrong?
- How is it a pop quiz if the kids know about it in advance? I thought a pop quiz always referred to a surprise quiz?
- I love that Ben is meddling in Claudio’s love life at the same time as Bea is offering to meddle in Hero’s love life. Parallels!
- Beatrice the awesome old cat lady! I love all the cat doodles onscreen.
- Leo is struggling here. What is he, 23? He didn’t sign up to raise teens and it shows, lol. Trying and failing to give Hero the be careful about boys talk.
- Eternally obsessed with Beatrice going on the internet and telling everyone her type is lanky dark-haired British guys, and then STILL spending months in denial about liking Ben after this. I love her.
- I did not know who JJ Field was when I first saw this episode. I still don’t think I’ve ever seen a single thing he’s been in.
- Hero calling Bea the heck out! “A thing for British guys? Hmm, who do we know who’s British?”
- “No one, we don’t know anyone!” *all fall over adorably*
- It’s been pointed out by Donalduke shippers before that these girls know two lanky dark-haired British guys: Ben Hobbes and John Donaldson. I still think that’s an interesting pickup. Some of the things that on Ben make him Beatrice’s ideal guy, become things that are different and weird about John.
- “please don’t call me Crotchety Old Emu” another all-timer when it comes to NMTD lines.
- It honestly feels like the whole Emu Time bit could have been completely improvised. They feel like real siblings/cousins making fun of each other, I love it.
- We also know from later context clues exactly how serious a threat “I’ll call my mum” is coming from Bea. You don’t mess with Hermione Duke!
REBUTTAL
- It’s a line from the trailer! “Beatrice is a stupid little so-and-so who doesn’t know anything about anything!” Classic.
- I love how he actually could have been way harsher but said “so-and-so” instead of a swear word. Because he already doesn’t hate her as much as he wants to?
- “There’s no one on Earth who’s ever gonna fill her grand criteria, no one!” And then her actual boyfriend criteria list is one item long: ‘must be Benedick Hobbes’.
- And of course, he’s only upset because he thinks he doesn’t fit her criteria, even though he doesn’t fully realize that yet.
- He’s relieved that he can talk about her without her watching the videos AND annoyed that she stopped watching at the same time. He’s obsessed with her, I’m sorry.
- Not to mention that he watches all HER videos the second they drop and frequently makes video responses to them. Babydoll, honestly. I am zero percent fooled. You love her.
- He also links to her Tweet about her latest video in the video description, so he probably follows her on Twitter (even though he didn’t have a transmedia twitter account shhh)
- PARRADAWKS, a classic moment (we love you Jake, we call out this little Scottish slip in only good fun!)
- Honestly I’m just obsessed that he was deadass like “did you just say I’m exactly your type but because I don’t have a beard I’m too young for you?! I am deeply offended and here’s a bulleted list as to why you’re wrong. Also I definitely don’t want to date you. Promise. No really. I don’t!”
- “I make jokes, I crack wise!” Don’t make me go off about Ben’s court jester complex where he thinks he’s only worth being around as long as he’s entertaining and no one actually likes him as a person beyond the performance. I’ll do it. I will!
- I love this bit so much. “You’re a mean-spirited old dragon!” *flaps hands like dragon wings*
- “I’ve seen deep into your heart and you feel nothing!” WHOA, big-time dip into the tragic backstory of how she stopped being his friend and broke his heart on this line!
- Oh good, his eyes look dark blue in this video. I’ve worried before that I described them as blue in fanfic but I’ve seen other people describe them as brown in fanfic so I might’ve been wrong. Pretty certain they’re blue though. Nothing wrong with any eye color, I just like to get my details right.
- BONUS secret lost video of Ben asking for Q&A questions! I forgot all about this, but it was definitely still on the channel when I first started watching the series.
- I would have kept this on the story playlist solely because every one of the limited moments I have of Benedick Hobbes on my screen is a treasure and I want them all thank you. Even if they are bad quality.
- Ben stole the idea of doing a Q&A from Bea and Hero.
- And the keysmash of letters that is this video’s title includes the letters GF, which is definitely a coincidence but also Ben is very soon to have a realization about the concept of GFs, so it makes me laugh.
- He mentions being on the way home from Claudio’s house. I am very sad that Ben is in a good place in his friendship with Claudio, goes over to his house and has him to his own house all the time, STILL feels constantly afraid of losing him as a friend to the point of being overbearing, and then… The Eventuality will happen. :(
- Ends it with every single NewWho catchphrase up to 12. I love him. What a nerd.

How Video Surveillance Is Transforming Oil and Gas Industry

Oil and gas is a 6,585.54 billion dollar global industry, making it a huge contributor to the economy and employment of several countries, particularly the Middle East and GCC. These sites use several underground equipment spanning hundreds of miles, including pipes and underwater oil extraction technology. Oil and gas sites require round-the-clock monitoring with automated alerts in case of any mishaps for immediate attention and response.
Why is Video Surveillance so significant for Oil and Gas Businesses?
In the volatile environment of oil and gas sites, the smallest spark can lead to a huge explosion. Thus, these sites are prone to several hazards affecting human safety and the protection of assets. The reason behind this is the amount of mechanical-intensive work involved, the precariousness of the materials they extract from beneath the surface, and their storage in a safe and secure facility.
Installing the latest surveillance systems has various benefits from a business standpoint. Firstly, these cameras, with integrations like IR and motion detection, provide added safety against theft and vandalism. Even from a manager’s standpoint, the cameras help him remotely monitor the crew operations, ensuring minimum lapses and increasing productivity. Furthermore, from a financial perspective, the cameras help detect any anomaly in operations, like potential equipment failure, so that it can be rectified before it causes a major accident at the site. In doing so, surveillance cameras insure companies from accidental costs and liabilities, thus promoting business growth.
Key Advantages of Video Surveillance for the Oil and Gas Industry
• Safety monitoring
Video surveillance solutions protect the crew during risky processes involving dangerous tools and exposure to lethal chemicals, especially when working in confined spaces. Besides explosive materials and working in an atmosphere where fire and electricity may pose a threat to human lives, real-time visual monitoring can be a perfect tool to improve safety and keep a vigilant eye over unsafe activities. The constant security monitoring can boost the quick response time in unpredictable situations, while at the same time offering detailed visual feeds for the first responders, who would then be in a better position to take appropriate action with the best possible strategy.
• Adherence to safety compliance
Another pertinent role that the video surveillance system plays, especially at the extraction points for gas and oil, is adhering to the government-provisioned code of conduct. Most industries consider OSHA as the ideal safety body and train their employees as per their specifications. This compliance prevents accidents and serves as a strong impetus for industries to keep their working environments up to that standard. Similarly, the adherence of workers to these standards make them compliant with safety measures, like avoiding entering a hazardous area unprotected.
With advanced video surveillance, potential hazards are detected 3X faster. Act now to mitigate risks!

• Remote monitoring prevents unauthorised entry into the site
The video surveillance system creates new avenues for remotely observing industrial sites in many ways. Firstly, the system helps the safety team cut down the risk of unauthorised entry, either deliberately by an intruder or by an employee or lost visitor with low-level clearance, straying into a facility, such as an oil and gas plant. Secondly, security monitoring of critical areas such as oil wells, rigs and gas lines is extremely important. Although regular inspection of these sites is very important, project managers might want to consistently monitor or avoid multiple visits to such sites by using video surveillance to keep things in check. As per a report by Navigant Research, such advantages of video security monitoring is exactly what is transforming the oil and gas industry, as demand for such equipment continues to rise. The report also stated that as and when the oil and gas prices drop, management in these industries will try to explore new ways such as video surveillance to improve safety and operational efficiency. And it is possible that in the distant future, remote drilling using video security solutions might become a reality.
• Enhanced resiliency using mesh networking and wireless technology
Though the oil and gas surveillance system is helpful in the oil and gas industries, it can be further enhanced by using other technologies. For instance, by integrating mesh topology in security monitoring. Through this technology, multiple nodes in infrastructure are directly and non-hierarchically connected, allowing smooth flow of traffic. The use of mesh networking in combination with video surveillance can be extremely useful in huge drilling sites or at an expansive power plant, particularly when an incident of outage or emergency occurs. Similarly, wireless technology can also enhance video surveillance in certain circumstances. For example, wireless surveillance solutions such as IP-based cameras can be used to remotely observe offshore oil rigs. Their ease of deployment and flexibility can prove to be beneficial to the safety of workers, security, and general operational efficiency.

• Infrastructure security
Benefits of video surveillance including intrusion detection of crew and hazardous objects in explosion-prone zones of the oil and gas industry. With its explosion-protection features, SharpEagle surveillance provides a complete security solution for on-shore and off-shore sites. Additionally, its integrations like smart detection and image analysis technology helps detect abnormal situations in the restricted zones remotely, protecting the human and equipment infrastructure in the industry.

Best Practices for Video Surveillance in the Oil and Gas Industry
Investment in high-resolution cameras for entry and exit points: While low-resolution cameras still serve the purpose of surveillance, high-resolution cameras are used to carry out more advanced functions including facial recognition for authorised personnel and details about the equipment in explosive zones to provide an additional layer of security to the industry.
Choosing explosion-proof cameras over traditional cameras for surveillance: As discussed before, even a single spark in an explosive environment can be fatal. To ensure minimum risk of explosions, crew fatalities, and equipment damage, opt for surveillance technology that avoids contact of any spark with the outside atmosphere and contains it within the housing of the wire.
Check for easy camera integration with process systems before investment: Through easy installation and integration, the managers and supervisors can carry out the operations seamlessly. For instance, integration of the temperature fluctuation alarm with the video surveillance system ensures that every time the temperature rises or drops beyond the optimum range, the warning alarm automatically activates the video footage of the zone, promoting immediate action in case of emergencies.
Optimise surveillance with video analytics: Simultaneously monitoring 200 cameras at an oil and gas site can be challenging. As a result, the managers often miss out on the crucial details in the operations. Video analytics help in smart detection of any anomaly in the operations and prioritises that zone for surveillance, ensuring prompt and efficient deployment of resources and manpower.
The Checklist for a Good Video Surveillance Solution for the Oil and Gas Industry
Ex-proof casing
Good oil and gas video surveillance cameras are ex-proof and usually made of really durable materials like fiberglass, polyester, and stainless steel. The casing of such cameras protects the device from combustible gases, dust, and identical particles from entering inside it.
Ex-proof reinforced mounts
Quality video surveillance cameras are mounted by brackets that are capable of holding five times the weight of the CCTV, preventing them from toppling over.
Closed-loop placing system
Oil and gas sites can benefit greatly from explosion-proof cameras if they have smart closed-loop positioning systems, which are set to return to the same angle without delay, minimising blindspots and losing on critical moments during operations.
Viewing window made out of tempered glass
To prevent the camera's viewing window from breaking under pressure, make sure that the viewing window of the ex-proof CCTV is made of tempered glass. Such glasses endure tremendous pressure of up to 10,000 pounds per square inch.
Easy Remote Access
An ideal ex-proof CCTV camera system allows the operators to monitor the worksite remotely through live video streams at any time. It also provides the option of archiving recordings for record-keeping, legal purposes, and future reference.
Commercially Affordable
Instead of cutting initial costs and compromising product quality, an ideal explosion-proof CCTV camera will be commercially affordable after installation due to its maintenance costs — thus ensuring hassle-free operations in critical zones.

Thoughts on the Four Planes of Development According to Maria Montessori
The Montessori approach to the four planes of development can be viewed as a reflection of the biblical understanding that human beings are created with intrinsic value and purpose. The child is seen not only as a bearer of God's image but as one who is developing according to God's design. The role of the guide is not to impose their will or dictate development, but to faithfully assist in nurturing the child, respecting their God-given capacities, and trusting in God's sovereign work in the child's life.
The four planes of development are seen as stages in the unfolding of God's image in the child, each stage marked by a specific set of needs, tendencies, and growth. These stages are a reminder that God has designed each child with unique capacities and abilities that are to be nurtured within the context of a faithful, prepared environment, one that respects and encourages the unfolding of God’s plan for each individual.
The First Plane (0-6 years): The Absorbent Mind
In the first stage, from birth to six years old, a child’s mind is like a sponge, absorbing everything around them or a camera that captures everything. This stage speaks to the beauty of God’s creation in a child’s natural ability to learn without effort. This is not merely passive absorption, but an active, God-given process where the child is growing in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, even if they are not consciously aware of it. It is a time for nurturing through the example of loving parents and caretakers, ensuring that the child’s environment reflects God’s order, beauty, and truth.
The guide’s role is to assist in guiding the child towards these developmental milestones, with patience and humility, trusting that God has given the child the spontaneous power to grow. The guide must provide a rich environment full of sensory experiences, whether through nature, art, or language, which reflects the goodness and creativity of God’s creation.
The Second Plane (6-12 years): The Reasoning Mind
From ages six to twelve, the child’s mind begins to move from concrete learning to more abstract reasoning. This period can be seen as a time when the child begins to recognize the moral and spiritual dimensions of the world, and a foundation for a Christian worldview begins to form. This is the time when children begin to ask deep, spiritual questions: Why are we here? What is good and true? These questions must be answered in the context of God’s Word, which is the ultimate source of truth.
At this stage, the guide’s role is to encourage exploration, not just of facts and figures, but of deeper, life-shaping questions. The child’s capacity for reasoning and moral understanding is nurtured through thoughtful discussion, study of the world around them, and the cultivation of virtues like honesty, integrity, and compassion, virtues that reflect God’s character.
The Third Plane (12-18 years): The Humanistic Mind
Adolescence, from ages twelve to eighteen, is marked by physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation. As the child moves toward adulthood, their need for identity and purpose comes into sharp focus. This period is deeply theological as it represents a time of growing awareness of the child’s role in God’s redemptive plan for the world. Adolescents grapple with questions of purpose, calling, and personal responsibility, and their sense of self is shaped by the community they are a part of.
For the guide, this stage calls for gentle guidance and mentorship, leading the adolescent to understand that their identity is found in Christ alone, not in the fleeting things of this world. This highlights the importance of grace during this time, as the adolescent’s search for meaning is not always straightforward. The guide's role is to create an environment where the adolescent feels safe to wrestle with their questions, develop their gifts and talents, and discover how they can contribute to God’s work in the world.
The Fourth Plane (18-24 years): Maturity
The final stage, from eighteen to twenty-four years, is the transition into adulthood, where the individual is now tasked with taking full responsibility for their life and its direction. This is a period of stewardship, not just of one’s life, but of the gifts and abilities that God has entrusted to them. The adult is now called to serve God and others through their vocation, family, and community life.
In this stage, the guide’s role becomes less about direct instruction and more about supporting the individual’s growth into a mature, responsible, and godly adult. The individual should now be able to think critically, make decisions based on a solid foundation in the gospel, and contribute to the common good in meaningful ways. This stage is the culmination of the previous planes, where the child matures into a young adult ready to serve God’s purposes.
It is essential to remember that every child is made in God’s image, and their development is part of God’s sovereign plan. Each plane of development offers unique opportunities for the guide to participate in God’s redemptive work in the life of the child. The guide must strive to understand the spiritual needs, intellectual gifts, and emotional growth of the child, always seeking to point them toward the ultimate goal: to love God and love others.
Thus, their responsibility is to guide, nurture, and prepare the child for a life of service to God, helping them grow not only in knowledge and skills but also in wisdom and character. It is a work done in faith, trusting in God’s grace, and hoping that the child will develop into someone who reflects His glory, regardless of the challenges they face along the way.
This understanding of the four planes of development brings both a joyful responsibility and a humble trust that the child is ultimately God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10).
Four Planes of Development: These span from 0-24 years of a child’s life and are divided into distinct stages, each with its own characteristics, needs, and developmental tasks.
We do not develop or educate the child. Rather, we assist and facilitate the child’s own natural process of development, trusting in the child’s ability to grow and organize their learning.
Developmental Stages:
0-3 years: Unconscious Absorbent Mind
Characteristics: The child absorbs everything from the environment unconsciously, without the ability to filter or understand it.
Development Focus: Laying the foundational groundwork for future learning and growth.
Goal: Absorption—the child is constantly taking in information from their environment without conscious effort. The experiences during this stage shape the child's personality, senses, and early social interactions.
3-6 years: Conscious Absorbent Mind
Characteristics: The child begins to develop a more conscious awareness of their surroundings. They can filter information and are more deliberate in their learning.
Development Focus: The construction of the conscious mind, acquiring language, motor skills, and the ability to make independent choices.
Goal: Empower the child to express themselves, develop language, and build on physical abilities. The foundation for intellectual development is being built here.
6-12 years: Childhood (Reasoning Mind)
Characteristics: The child now enters a phase of intellectual exploration. They are curious, imaginative, and begin to develop abstract reasoning and logic.
Development Focus: Strengthening of social connections and beginning of logical thought processes. Emphasis on exploration and discovering the "why" of things.
Goal: Nurture the child’s reasoning abilities and curiosity. Encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and more independent thinking. The child’s social development is as important as their intellectual development.
12-18 years: Adolescence (Humanistic Mind)
Characteristics: Adolescents go through significant physical, hormonal, and psychological changes. They develop a strong desire for independence and self-identity.
Development Focus: Identity formation, purpose, and the search for moral understanding. Emphasis on personal responsibility and understanding their role in society.
Goal: Support the adolescent in transitioning into adulthood, helping them navigate through emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Encourage exploration of life goals and future contributions to society.
18-24 years: Maturity (Full Development)
Characteristics: The individual reaches full maturity, with well-formed beliefs, long-term goals, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to society.
Development Focus: Integration of all previous developmental stages into a coherent worldview and lifestyle.
Goal: To have a well-rounded, self-sufficient adult who understands their role in the world and can contribute to society effectively.
Trust in the Child’s Development: The guide must trust the spontaneous organizing power within the child. The child’s natural development is a process led by the child themselves, with the guide merely aiding and providing a prepared environment.
Observation, Not Judgment: The guide’s role is to observe the child without bias, paying close attention to their needs, interests, and development. By doing so, the guide can provide the right materials, support, and opportunities for growth without imposing unnecessary interventions.
Environmental Preparation:
Supportive Environments: Create environments that are specifically prepared for each developmental stage. These environments should address the child’s unique characteristics and provide opportunities for growth, free from unnecessary obstacles.
Materials and Presentation: Present materials in a way that fosters independence, curiosity, and deep understanding. Focus on higher-order thinking skills, not rote memorization.
Gradual Transition: Transitions between stages are gradual, not abrupt. This is true not just for academic learning, but also for emotional and social transitions. Recognize that each child’s development unfolds at its own pace.
Developmental Phases (Subplanes):
0-3 years: Unconscious absorbent mind—no filter, no understanding, but massive sensory and emotional growth.
3-6 years: Conscious absorbent mind—the child begins to understand the world with growing language and awareness.
6-9 years and 9-12 years: The child continues developing intellectual, social, and emotional skills, with increasing curiosity and the ability to think abstractly.
12-15 years and 15-18 years: The adolescent works through emotional and physical transformations, searching for identity and purpose, and preparing for adult roles.
Importance of Understanding Developmental Planes:
Practical Application: Understanding the planes of development allows guides to tailor their approach to meet the needs of the child at each stage. It also helps the guide remain patient and trust the natural developmental process.
Preparation: If the environment is not prepared adequately for each stage, the child may struggle to develop essential skills, leading to gaps in their growth. Guides should ensure they are providing the right opportunities at the right time.
Support Through Transition: Be mindful of the transition between planes. The shift from one stage to another should be gradual and supported through careful observation and guidance. For example, while transitioning from childhood to adolescence, support them with guidance and less academic pressure to account for physical and psychological changes.
The Role of the Guide: Guides must facilitate, not force, the child’s development by offering a prepared environment, observing the child’s needs, and trusting the child’s own development process. Guides should encourage exploration, independence, and the building of character across all stages of development.
