The Temeraire bonus post-canon book we really deserve is one in which in like 50-100 years, Ning is poised to gain something alarmingly close to world domination, likely through a marriage alliance between the Chinese and French-Peruvian Empires, and Temeraire and Iskierka decide that the best solution is to have another child together, to set against her. This goes exactly as badly as one could imagine, in ways that no one could possibly conceive of.

As hot-headed as she is, she makes a strong case that a dragon is not wholly submissive to their captains; instead fighting for their friends and country as much as any man. And it's not as though there aren't greedy and war-hungry humans in the military, so one can't say she's receiving any more consideration than might a human soldier of equal rank
