Identity Crisis.
7 Juy 1987, Punjabi Times
Who are we?
Some call us extremists other call us outright terrorists, the fact is that we are freedom fighters! Freedom to practise our religion. Freedom to our beliefs. Just as Mahatma Gandhi the original freedom fighter for our nation. This time the British and many nations are on our side, we have international support for the movement, this is in essence a David and Goliath story. India is a massive unit and they choose not to assist the little-guy, instead they are trying to crush us. We will not stand for this. We know we are in the right, Everybody knows that we are correct to fight for the right. The blood shed due to our movement haunts us each and everyday, but we shan’t cower in fear for all who have lost their lives in this movement are heroes and shall be treated as martyrs! You the reader, you matter! We shall stand together as one India, or one as global citizens regardless of gender, race or religion. We believe your support is unwavering and is everlasting! Night is darkest before dawn!

Anantnag martyrs: The bravehearts who fought till their last breath
Everyone knows that Pakistan has waged a proxy war. Our Army should give a befitting reply once and for all, an elderly man who lives in Dhonchak’s neighbourhood said.
Tumblr media
CHANDIGARH: Jagmeet Kaur, an economics teacher, with her two doting children Kabir Singh (6) and Banni Kaur (2) had just returned to Panchkula after spending time with her husband Col Manpreet Singh in Kashmir. She was devastated when the news came a fortnight later that Col Manpreet had been killed in gun battle with terrorists in Anantnag on September 13.
Col Manpreet Singh, commanding officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, was a third-generation Army officer. He was leading his troops from the front when he received critical gunshot wounds. In 2012, he was decorated with the Sena Medal for gallantry after he neutralised terrorists in J&K.
Singh had spent almost five years with the same Rashtriya Rifles battalion, the first three as the second-in-command and then as the Commanding Officer. Singh was about to complete his tenure with Rashtriya Rifles in four months.
He was recently honoured with a gallantry award by the Army. The colonel belonged to Bharaunjian village near Chandigarh in the SAS Nagar district of Punjab. His grandfather and his two brothers were soldiers in the British troops. His father and his two cousins were soldiers too in the Indian Army.
A pall of gloom descended on his village in Panchakula. His body is expected on Friday and is likely to be cremated the same day. A large number of people are turning up to mourn the death. “The mortal remains of my son-in-law will reach tomorrow afternoon as the Army formalities take time,” said Jagdev Singh Grewal.
Major Aashish Dhonchak
Major Aashish Dhonchak hailing from Panipat in Haryana too laid down his life fighting terrorists in Anantnag. He leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, wife and three sisters. He was planning to visit the family on his birthday next month. Dhonchak joined the Indian Army in 2013 and was the only brother of three sisters.
As the news of his death spread, villagers and neighbours rushed to his house in Sector 7 of Panipat. His uncle Dilwar Singh said, “We knew there was an operation underway. But we got the news of his death from my son who’s also in the Army,’’ Singh said.
“Everyone knows that Pakistan has waged a proxy war. Our Army should give a befitting reply once and for all so that no mother has to mourn the loss of her son, no sister loses her brother again, no wife loses her husband and no child loses its father,” an elderly man who lives in Dhonchak’s neighbourhood in Panipat said.
Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat too died on Wednesday morning in the gunfight with terrorists. He is the father of a two-month-old daughter and the son of retired Inspector General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Ghulam Hasan Bhat.
Rifleman Ravi Kumar died during firing by militants in Rajouri on the same day.

Bitter pill to swallow.
22 March 1987, Fathership
“The government has finally shown its true bloodthirsty nature, evident in their attack on an innocent man that has no ties with any political turmoil that has been going on. Now it seems that peaceful protests, negotiations between the Akali Dal and the government, and other peacekeeping measures have not worked so far - look at where it has led us to, tortured and killed! It is now time with the greatest regret that we have to call for greater action, which involves exiting ourselves from the boundary of peace. The increase in police patrols and tougher laws to restrict and oppress our very Sikh right to freedom of expression has pushed us into a tight corner, and over a red line which we cannot ignore. The central government tries to paint itself in a positive light constantly, but look at the truth. The government is just pushing us nearer and nearer to our limits, and when push comes to shove, we have no choice but to take action in self-defence.”

Books On Hindu Mythology And Puranas
Puranas are religious texts written in Sanskrit that were passed down orally for centuries before being written from the 2nd century. They are part of the sacred literature of the Hindu faith that also comprise of the Vedas, Brahmanas, Aryayankas, Upanishads, and the great epics. They are part of the sacred literature of the Hindu religion, which also consists of the Vedas, Brahmins, Aryankas, Upanishads and great epics. The earliest forms of Hindu worship focused on ritual yagna, or Vedic sacrifices.
The Puranas have the Vedic spirit and were written to inform the thoughts contained in the Vedas. They are not intended for scholars, but for ordinary people who can barely understand the higher philosophy of the Vedas. The Puranas are very important to Indian history. The greatest contribution of the Puranas to mankind is the knowledge it contains, such as astronomy, medicine, history and many other subjects.
