With Jamie asleep, Crosshairs washes his bedding. Drift will start his and Jamie’s before dinner. Drift sits on the couch, trying to distract himself from the earlier incident, but it’s impossible. With Jamie’s mental struggle as it is, Drift is terrified of what Jamie could think when she wakes up. Drift thought Crosshairs would return once everything was in the washing machines. Despite using two washing machines, the laundry will still take time. He hopes Crosshairs isn’t looking for the soldiers.

Crosshairs hasn’t returned after two hours. Drift only hopes that Crosshairs didn’t get himself into trouble. It’s strange to him that Crosshairs is waiting for the bedding to be washed before returning. Jamie’s whimpering breaks the silence of the room. While this has never happened before after soldiers targeted her, Drift is certain Jamie is having a nightmare. He is careful as he picks Jamie up. “Shh, you’re safe,” Drift whispers as he walks toward the couch. Drift sits on the couch and positions Jamie sitting on his lap. Crosshairs is concerned, hearing Jamie cry as he walks into the room. He drops the folded sheets and pillowcases onto the coffee table, goes behind the couch, and puts the warm blanket over Drift. He then joins them under the blanket. The three snuggle while the two mechs get Jamie to calm down. Knowing why she’s upset and had a nightmare is heartbreaking for them. Drift has Jamie lean on him, feeling his heartbeat. He knows this has helped calm her before. Jamie is quick to calm down. Crosshairs turns on the TV. The two mechs hope she’ll relax.
