The Buccaneers Season 2 Trailer Thoughts and Theories

I’ll preface this by saying I haven’t read the book, so if anything is well known from it that I miss here sorry.

First off the key art with the tagline kiss, marry, run?!?!? Are we hinting that Nan will run away with Guy at the end?

Now let’s talk trailer. First off there’s definitely a substantial time jump since we see Jinny holding her baby (that her awful husband has accused her of kidnapping 🙃)

Nan and Theo’s plot looks like it’s going to be messy. It also looks like he gets worse and more disheveled as the season goes on. The marriage is clearly devolving.

That red dress moment?!?! At an event that looks like the dress code is black and white? My first guess was a funeral until I saw people also wearing white gowns.

Love seeing Conchita and Richard looking cute with their child.

Mabel and Honoria don’t seem to be hiding in front of their friends, good for them!

Lizzie getting a new man and getting married (hope he’s a good guy).

Also the enchanted forest/fairy party looks so good, I will be obsessing over the costumes and scenes for sure.

Affair at tintagel?!?! Does Theo end up cheating? I know there are two new female cast members this season. Or do Nan and Guy get caught? I’m leaning more towards it being Theo though.

Why does it look like Lizzy is running from Theo’s greenhouse/art studio. Does he make a pass at her? Hasn’t she been through enough 🙃. I put a picture of the studio from season one next to it and it definitely looks like the same place.

A gun??? Who has a gun??? It could be so many people at this point. I do think James might be getting killed some time this season though, it’s the only way for Jinny to have true freedom.

Leighton’s character asking to be introduced at the end. All signs still point to her being Nan’s mom.

We also got some music/soundtrack info. I can’t wait to see what Taylor, Gracie, and Sabrina songs will be in it.

I'm thrilled to be writing about The Buccaneers again! If you know me, you know I love these characters. The Season 2 premiere sets up truly interesting and refreshing dynamics — Patty and Nell! Lizzy and Hector! — that I'm eager to see play out. I'm also convinced it wraps up the Guy/Nan/Theo love triangle. Here's my review:

Controversial Take (I don't think it is, but I also don't care if it is)

Matt and Fabian should've been cast with younger, older versions, respectively.

I love Fabian, but that is a man in his early thirties, and I love Matt, but that is a 40 year old man. I do think it adds to how old Daemon is but doesn't add enough to how old Criston is because he doesn't age with the girls.

I do think they obviously do an excellent job, but again, with the time progression and narrative storytelling, I do think they should've recasted them at some point.
