Okay so i just read the recent self aware prompt with characters reacting to us singing a part of Hold Them Down more specifically the" And when the deed is done, the queen will have no one to stop us from breaking her bedroom door, stop us from taking her love and more" so my mind jumps to thinking to adding more in another scenario.

I'm so curious about how those same Honkai star rail characters would react after hearing those initial song lyrics to a few days later hearing them gush about how much they'd love to try to capture or seduce said character, but have the tables turned on them and be broken, conqured and ruined by the character so they only love and think about them.

Though I'd like for Blade and Welt to be switched up for Feixiao and The Herta. Or you can just add them in if you desire so.

Hearing those two extremes from you—first, the aggressive "we're kicking down doors and taking what's ours" energy, and then the soft, obsessed "I want to be ruined by them" adoration? That’s a switch-up that messes with their heads in deliciously messy ways.

Kafka's thrilled. Absolutely thrives on contradiction, so when you go from power-hungry devourer to love-struck victim? She laughs—low, slow, predatory.

“So you want to break and be broken, hm? My, my... you’re such a curious little god. Do make up your mind—before I make it up for you.”

She finds it adorable that you fantasize about losing control to someone like her. That makes you all the more fun to play with—especially because you’re supposed to be the one in charge. She wants to test how far she can push that fantasy before it stops being pretend.

Feixiao's reaction? Amused at first… but the moment she realizes you’re serious, that you genuinely fantasize about being overtaken by someone like her, something shifts.

“You’d surrender to me? With all your power? Are you… flawed?”

She doesn’t mean that cruelly—it’s fascination, pure and scientific. She views you like an unstable compound: dangerous, volatile, and deeply alluring. She might even consider exploring this new hypothesis through... “experiments.” Ethical boundaries? What boundaries?

Jing Yuan

Initially concerned. He hears the first song lyric and goes “Oh.” But then he hears the fantasy about being emotionally ruined and smiles, one of those tired, knowing smiles.

“So the lamb wishes to be devoured by the lion?”

He won’t bring it up directly, but his interactions with you subtly shift. More watching. More careful phrasing. A touch more challenge in his tone—testing you, to see if that desire is real, or just an idle fantasy. Because if it is real, he might just indulge it. Gently, thoroughly, and with no intention of giving you back your control.

The Herta immediately logs your audio, plays it on repeat, and laughs. Not at you—but at the contradiction.

“A god with delusions of surrender. Fascinating. I’ll dissect the fantasy layer by layer.”

She’s intrigued, not emotionally but intellectually. You want to be destroyed by someone like her? She thinks that's adorable—and possibly something she could test in a simulation. She will try to model this scenario. And she'll enjoy it far too much.

Acheron is silent. But that’s because she’s processing. The initial lyric made her wary—she’s used to people trying to conquer what they don’t understand. But then hearing your fantasy about surrender and being emotionally dominated?

“You do not know what it means to fall… and yet you long for it.”

She finds it deeply poetic, even tragic. She doesn’t necessarily approve, but it resonates with her in a way that softens her view of you. She might even see your wish as a quiet call for connection… or punishment.

Jingliu is conflicted. The first lyric made her instinctively want to cut you down. The second made her wonder if you deserve that fate.

“You desire ruin. Perhaps that is the most honest thing about you.”

She watches you more now. She's not sure if she wants to protect you from your darker impulses—or fulfill them in the most painful, beautiful way possible.

Aventurine MIGHT be startled. He was already intrigued after the first line—nothing spices up a dull day like ominous godly threats. But then you say that?

“Whoa, whoa, whoa—so you want to be played like a hand of cards? You really are something else.”

He teases you relentlessly. But part of him loves the idea of being the one person who can make the player become the played. And let’s be real—he’s totally going to weaponize your fantasy in every flirtatious exchange from then on.

what are some of your favorite and/or most unhinged kafhime thoughts?

oh boy let's seeeee. and also caveat of course these are my own headcanons but i'm not going to fight to the death for them and eventually i'm sure they too will change. it's just fun!

so kafka is into fragile things right. but the real thrill of something being fragile and ephemeral is the fear we have to contend with at losing it, at watching it be destroyed and crumble. take the fear away and it's not the same. and that's kafka in a nutshell, right, she lacks the fear component. having fear again would make her truly appreciate the fragility of everything withering around her. the fragility of love.

i think kafka is very empathic just not in the regular degular sense. again, lack of fear, so she feels empathy but without the fear that tinges our social conventions compelling her to extend it beyond those she considers near her. and it expresses itself in ways others would find gross, i guess, like how she quarantines blade's mind and senses to keep his mara contained. you can be empathic without being soft-hearted or overly friendly.

both kafka and himeko are very sure of who they are as people and aren't seeking validation of themselves in the other. it makes slowburn extra great in my opinion. himeko doesn't need kafka, strictly speaking, and vice versa. that calm self-confidence and self-assurance is why i see them as being more middle-aged, like they've been around, they have tested themselves, they have done the work and resolved a lot of issues. well, at least himeko has. and so them being together becomes a choice, a curiosity, a kind of... dance towards something.

i think kafka falls in love first, and himeko way later. himeko keeps a lot to herself, she's travelled for a while and has said a lot of goodbyes. it's not that she is an ice queen but she is reserved in letting others close.

i think a lot about her casualness on jarilo-vi. she worried very little about the trailblazers on the ground. she seems a bit more blasé about dangers than i initially assumed and the way she shrugs off kafka's repeated interferences in the keeping up with star rail was so funny. she's got this sense of direction heading forward and kafka loves the chase to keep up with her. himeko comes out on top a lot and it has kafka coming back for more.

also, corny maybe but their dates would 1. be mostly arranged by kafka, 2. extremely over the top romantic. think candlelit dinners in a gazebo with soft rain outside. think orchestral concerts with box seats. think invitation-only masked balls. (especially the bigger functions are all about slipping away for quiet moments just the two of them. the contrast.) do these dates impress himeko? nope. she finds something to critique and kafka finds that so endearing.

CHAT. okay, okay, so. i was alr guaranteed and got him at 78 pity. then went over to his lc. mind u i was starting at literally ZERO. I GOT IT EARLY (39) AND WON THE 75/25. at this point, i had literally 10k jades left and decided to fuck it go for his e1. unforch, i lost to clara at 55ish pity, which is NOT bad, but obv wanted his e1. i initially only wanted maybe e1, but i wanna e6 him sooo bad. not just for personal reasons, but also meta reasons. might have to wait for his rerun ofc, BUT YK. if by the end of his banner i don’t get his e1, i’ll save the guaranteed for someone else (love fugue’s design, but i’m not interested in pulling for her bec i don’t rlly like break units), and i like firefly’s character but not her play style. i typically pull for characters based on looks over meta, so i might go for jing yuan instead but e1 sunday is sooo tempting. jing yuan’s one of my favs so it’s kinda hard to resist. if i do get jy, i’ll have 6/8 of my favs. kinda wanna save for black swan because i love love LOVE my queen acheron and everything revolves around her (and coincidentally, black swan is also one of my favs), but i also do need another dps unit sooo we will see. i do want dan hend il, kafka, blade, seele, jingliu, or feixiao (leaning toward kafka for acheron, seele because she’s seele, or jingliu cus i LOVE her play style) when their reruns come. i’m mostly excited for jingliu tho :3 anywayy this has gotten WAYY too long but jjst wanted to keep u guys updated on why my smaus and fics have been slowing down

You watched the doctor step out of the room to go talk to everyone standing outside of it, your friends. All those whom you cherished so dearly, who you suddenly didn’t want to see you in such a vulnerable state.

The people who you trusted well and knew you could rely on the moment you stepped on that college campus all those years ago.

The four of them had always had your back when you moved into the city to attend the local college there. They made sure you felt like you belonged & helped you make it through those four long years. Welt was your professor at one point but you two were still great friends.

Kafka & Silver Wolf.

You had met them through Ren when he was working his first internship that he desperately wanted and finally nailed. S.W. was also an intern and Kafka was working at the time, though they all got along great. The organization was sketchy and oddly secretive, but they were such great people to listen and talk to about anything at all without being insecure or judged, and you trusted them as good people.

Blade. (Or so you like to call him, “Ren.”)

You don’t remember a day that he hasn’t stood by your side. Since the age of 6, you two were always close. After he scraped his knee on the playground and no one else helped him, you took it upon yourself to make sure he never felt that alone again. (After helping him go to the school nurse, of course.) You took it upon yourself to ignore everyone else and focus your attention on him. He was so interesting as well. He was quiet, unlike the average kindergartener who could never stay still. (AKA you at the time.) For the first few weeks of your friendship, he didn’t respond to a single word you said. All he did was lock eyes with you, silently observing you talk and whining about other kids or how your mom didn’t let you eat ice cream for dinner. And when he did speak, it was for your aid. Unbeknownst to you, you wanted to show him something at the park, so you were running while looking back at him. There was a blue poll smack in the middle of nowhere and you ran straight into it. You collapsed and started crying, holding your forehead in your hands. There was a bump on it now and it almost looked swollen. But you were brought out of your misery when you heard a very small, soft voice called out to you. “Come.” Looking up, he had his arm extended to you with tears in his eyes, and you could tell he was scared for you. Because unlike everyone else, you rarely cried. You refused to be vulnerable for anyone and he knew that. So, to see you in such a state had him trembling, even as you took his hand and stood up before you were guided to your mom, you could feel it. After that incident, he would talk, at least with you. You were very happy with that, finally accomplishing your goal of making him your friend. He made sure you never felt alone, either. For some time, he didn’t understand why you were doing this, why did you stick around? Did you want him for his money? No, he’s never talked about it or shown any signs of his wealth. Were you taking pity on him? Maybe, it was pity. But pity didn’t last years and years. He knew you cared, through kinder, through middle school, through his school. You made sure he always felt wanted and appreciated. And he did the same to you, of course. When you experienced your first heartbreak, he was there. When you won prom queen, he was there. When you broke your leg after falling off a ladder while helping local stores, he was there to catch you, even.

So, it was hard to understand why he wasn’t there when this happened. Why wasn't he there to wipe away your tears and tell you everything was fine? He didn’t understand, honestly. And he was barely listening to the doctor, he couldn’t. Not when the thing he feared the most was happening. 

Tears. So many, seemingly never-ending, dripping down your face onto the sheet of the hospital bed. But why? Maybe now he should pay attention, but it seemed that destiny was reading his mind because could only comprehend those words:

“Unfortunately, due to Mrs. (L/N)’s unhealthy high-stress levels, she has lost their child.”

Kafka also loves watching you on the battlefield. She finds your abilities beautiful and enjoys seeing you plow through your enemies with ease. She also likes playing around with your illusions, wondering just what else you could do with them.

He doesn't treat you any differently for your muteness and just somehow knows what you want to tell him at all times. He doesn't mind the silence anyways, as he is a man of few words and doesn't like talking much.

He never comments on your looks much either, but he secretly finds your height difference quite adorable. It takes alot in him to not just pat the top of your head all the time. And your eyes are also something he admittedly loved about you. The different colours fascinated him, making him wonder how they were even possible to exist.

He underestimated your skills on the battlefield at first, until he saw you truly fight. After that, he became even more impressed by you. He enjoys fighting alongside you and can admit to himself, that you're a good team together. But he'll still attempt to protect you anyways, even if you don't need it.

Greetings gentlefriends! I hope you are well and have managed to fit some pages into our very confusing lives at this moment. After a few months with very positive wrap-ups, I decided on raising the bar a bit for April.

- first, the book pick for Book of the Month, Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami, picked my random number generator. This book would be my first Murakami and I'm hoping to love it because of the magical realism and symbolic style.

- the pick for A Bookish Education this month will be The Assassin's Blade. I will be continuing the Throne of Glass series but the fandom seems to agree that the novellas should be read before Queen of Shadows for a better understanding of the next steps (and to cry about Sam I think).

- since my copy of ACOSF by Sarah J. Maas only arrived in the final part of March and I don't want to be continuously putting it off, in fear of spoilers, I am going to try to read it this month.

- the last books on my TBR are Deamon Voices by Philip Pullman, a collection of essays about writing and worldbuilding and Restless Slumber by K. J. Sutton, the sequel of Fortuna Sworn. I kinda glorified the His Dark Materials world when I first read it and now I'm more focused on writing, so I would like to learn more about the craft.

The Malevolence (Amalgam, Dark Claw, MURPG)

((Character sheet and setting info after the break)) Logan awoke, bound to the ground, hearing a series of memories played out on monitors around the room, and confusingly, smells from across his lifetime.

“Where, at forty, I attributed my looks to my mother, and my liver to my father,” Logan paused for the tepid laughter, “At sixty, I am forced to admit there were other forces at play.”

1992, when he’d come out as a mutant. Not as Dark Claw, just a billionaire who’d inherited even more luck than most people. He tried to play it off as though his power was just his health. As with all mutants then, he was banned from blood and tissue donations, making it easier to stave off his aging rivals from pestering him on a day to day basis. It made occasional extra work for Dark Claw, however.

93, he noted as he tested his bindings. They’d snap, but not soon.

Talia, wailing as he shot down Ra’s al-Pocalypse with a rocket launcher.

“Ninety-five,” he said, methodically pulling and relaxing, “What do you need to prove?”

The Joker laughing at a shrieking pitch, almost as if to cover up Sparrow’s screams.

“Bastards,” he growled. His head should have cleared, but there was something else buried into the scents they vented into the room. He blinked. How were they even witness to that?

Seeing Jubilee dying again started up the adrenaline, though. He cursed and spat, trying to slip out the way he knew he had to. Before the next parts.

Jean da Costa, the Dark Phoenix, caught off guard and killed by Erik Magnus via magnetokinetic stroke.

Logan saw red. Killing mad. There was grief in his scream. The mystery behind the Ravens might give way to the immediate need to end them, a quiet but resolute voice tried saying over the din in his mind.

The obituary of Thomas and Elizabeth Wayne, interspersed with grainy footage of the three of them, together.

One of the leg binds snapped as he did, and one of the odd, synthetic looking ropes had stretched just enough for a hand to slip free, allowing his left hand to cut away his remaining binds. flipping to his feet, still shouting. And then the lights went out.

They knew he tracked by scent, which was still confusing due to the manufactured nostalgia in the air, but they did not consider how well he heard. It was a good posture, to always sniff whenever he noticed something out of sight, in case someone was watching.

They were quiet, but not enough. He slashed out with his right hand, raking two someones across their torsos, while feeling blades sink into his left forearm, which had risen to block the assailants he knew were on that side. He growled and plunged his free claws into someone’s face.

Death cries at least drowned out the sounds of his past on the walls. There was enough light from the panels that he noted more arriving, which suited him well. He needed to get something out before he could work properly.

The Malevolence of Ravens was resourceful, even these assassins knew more of what they were doing than the typical street goon. Archival footage of most of this was plentiful. But how the hell were they there for the Joker?

He was losing blood faster than he liked, meaning if he didn’t speed this up, he’d be captured again, or worse. A lot of self defense worked differently with knife hands, but that just made forearm strikes less predictable than a punch or and elbow. It really only worked because of the adamantium, most peoples forearms would have fractured doing what he did, but it made openings for smaller jabs and sideways swipes with extended claws.

The last one stood well into the gloom of televised history. He was not afraid, but based on their rote fighting form, he was not prepared either. The assassin went for an overhead knife strike, which Dark Claw caught in between two blades and twisted sideways, so as to spare his knuckles some grief, and he drove his right fist into the man’s gut. The adamantium claws slid in effortlessly.

“How’s that work for ya, bub?” Dark Claw drew in close.

No response except a gasp and a gurgle behind a black bird mask. They could have been plague-doctor themed if the beaks were longer. Dark Claw dropped him and strode out of the room. Violence sated, for now. Just had to find the bigwig.

The Amalgam Universe

Back in the day, Marvel and DC used to do cross promotion in Versus titles, and a couple of years, the Amalgam Universe, a big ole cross-company mishmash of heroes and villains and plots. The one character they co-owned was Axel Asher, whose power was to traverse between the two multiverses, and across timelines as well. He also had the power to smoosh heroes together, which tended to happen on accident if he stayed on one or the other side too long.

He, however, was not the only character who knew what was going on. Dr Strangefate, the amalgamation of Dr Strange, Dr Fate, and Charles Xavier, knew much too well what was happening, and was Axel’s main antagonist. See, the conflict was, Axel’s job was to keep the multiverses separate, and Dr Strangefate, being a product of the merged multiverse, wanted them to stay so he could live, alongside all of his loved ones native to the Amalgam Universe.

It didn’t stick, and they never collaborated like this again.

THIS Amalgam Universe

So in at least one instance the Amalgam Universe survived in smaller forms, waiting to reborn. Mostly, Strangefate rebuilt it for a return in 1997, but he is depicted as dying at the end of it all.

With the multiverses constantly expanding and contracting, there is always space for something weird. Even if it’s a pocket dimension, Axel Asher is swanning about in both properties and it could, fictionally speaking, always happen again, so right now, it is!

But it’s not the same one. Some of Access’ (that’s Axel’s superhero name) amalgamations were incredibly different depending on who was around, so my version of the Amalgam Universe has different stuff according to taste. Maybe it’s a cast off from the Queen of Nevers.

Dark Claw

Starting with Logan Wayne! I owned the two Dark Claw comics as a kid, because Batman and Wolverine were my favorites, and the Dark Claw Adventures looked like the Timmverse.

Logan Wayne was born in 1932, and orphaned at 8 years old after seeing the Gray Ghost. He would live in his parents’ estate until he was 18, attending New Gotham University. He’d go on to spend his summers travelling, and eventually, did so full time after graduating.

The 50s were a good time to learn how to drop off the grid. Besides postwar Europe, the Pacific saw continued conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. Japan was his last official known location from 1954 until 1970.

A man matching Logan’s description was found wandering in British Columbia. He wouldn’t claim his name or his birthright until 1973 after regaining enough of his fractured memories to give anyone his social security number.

Wayne Enterprises did not take this resurrection well. While the family’s estates had been held by the family butler, Edwin Pennyworth, the company fought any ownership claims or attempts at involvement for the next several years. It was during this time he had, back in New Gotham, full of skills and instincts he couldn’t quite place the origins of, that he took on the mantle of Dark Claw.

Street crime was at a fever pitch, and organized criminals ran rampant. With only a base of operations, a set of mutant powers, and an adamantium clad skeleton he still couldn’t account for, he set about clearing out New Gotham’s underworld.

The year after toppling the Silvermane regime, Logan Wayne finally accrued enough stock for control over Wayne Enterprises, rooting out the men that kept him locked out of his family’s company and installing a new board of directors. 1978 was looking up for Logan Wayne. And then the Joker appeared.

The Joker (an amalgam of the original, Sabretooth, and Whiteface) introduced to both mutant and costumed villainy. A series of gruesome killings, victims all stuck in a rictus grin, led Logan on a trail that ended with the Joker’s debut-- a plot to kill everyone in New Gotham with the Whiteface Poison. The Joker in this case is a little more clowny than the green backhaired Hyena. In this case, to represent the Sabretooth side, he’s got a healing factor, Sabretooth’s claws, keen senses (though played less animal than Logan or Creed would, more comedic), and a green fur trimmed coat instead. To add a little Whiteface (he’s from Supreme and is basically just an homage to Mr J), add the little red painted on dimples and vertical eyelines to the Joker’s normal face.

The Joker would become a consistent foe for decades to come, similarly living longer than he ought to and surviving things like adamantium claws.

The 80′s took Logan to Japan, where he would fight the League of Assassins for the first time, and have a romance or two. The 90′s, coming with an influx of mutants that society could no longer ignore, had him come out as a mutant too, in order to immediately establish the Leslie Kafka Institute for Mutant Education and Outreach, drawing an immediate line in the sand against the reactionary Friends of Humanity and other paramilitary orgs that preyed on mutantkind.

It was also a time that brought him his first sidekick, Jubilee, codename Sparrow. She would assist him for several years until the Joker killed her Jason Todd style. Logan tried to murder him then, though at that point, he hadn’t figured out how to kill anyone with a healing factor.

The standing rule from then on was “no sidekicks; no one else dies,” which would last from 1999 to 2010.

The year of this fluff is 2005, and Logan was puzzled and annoyed at the idea that any organization could have been ruling New Gotham they way the Court of Ravens claimed to without his knowing. It plays out mostly like Court of Owls, with added exposition for my setting’s benefit, and Wolverine style violence mixed in.

2009 brought the Near Apocalypse, perpetrated by Ra’s al-Pocalypse, risen again. Ra’s’ reasoning was that humans needed to end en masse, giving way to the true stewards of the planet, mutantkind. Logan heartily disagreed, as did an assortment of other heroes, and that’s why it became the Near Apocalypse.

2010 brought the second Sparrow in the form of Kitty Grayson, a phasing metamutant that had lost her family in a circus accident. She convinced a grudging Logan to take her on, the reasoning being that her phasing ability made her effectively untouchable, unkidnappable, and that he wouldn’t be able to stop her from visiting the Claw Cave anyway.

Ra’s’ back up plan came to light as well. The lead agent of the League of Assassins, Talon, came into her own. Initially mute, save for growling, Cassandra Kinney came at Dark Claw with everything she had, “everything” being an exact duplication of his powers and adamantium claws. She proved too resourceful for Dark Claw alone, but as mentioned, he was not alone. Sparrow provided him backup, and Logan ended up offering Talon help in the form of extensive therapy from Leslie Kafka and a spot in the Dark Claw Family.

Jubilee hadn’t stayed dead. She rose again on a full moon in 2000, becoming the independent hero Moonwing, and moving to Bludhaven to strike out on her own.

There’s a lot more, and an entire decade to explore for just a few characters since, but this is already long

The Marvel Universe RPG

The MURPG is a diceless system from 2003. It uses an energy resource pool and is entirely effort based, which I think is super cool!

One of the biggest problems is the “death spiral.” Your effort is diminished when you take damage, which sounds like a good idea until you realize that epic comic book style fights don’t tend to peak at the first punch and go entirely downhill from there. There are two ways around this that sound reasonable enough--

Second Wind

Taking one turn in which your character does not spend any energy (red stones), that character gets double energy regeneration the following turn.

I like this one because it can represent down time, like if you get beat up and the villain is monologuing. How often has a hero been hoisted by their shirt, blood on their lips, only to smirk and point out exactly what the villain has missed? I think even with energy regen tied to Durability, accruing additional energy while you’re beat up and climbing to a standing position (for instance) is very thematic.

Energy Independence

A lot of homebrew fixes just divorce red stone regen from health altogether, which works to form a more “whole-hearted” combat experience. This feels more like what you’d be playing like in other tabletop rpgs, where you can take plenty of damage and still swing for the fences.

In either case, it’s not called “the death spiral” because it was a walk in the park. Using any method to make player characters more survivable and feel like superheroes is encouraged, but don’t neglect a sense of danger.
