Discover all about King Chephren
King Khafre was a great pharaoh who was from the 4th dynasty and ruled during the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt. He reached the throne of Egypt around 2570 B.C, ruled for 26 years and was succeeded by his son Menkaure. King Khafre's Pyramid is considered the second largest landmark of its kind after the great pyramid of his father Khufu, built in the Giza necropolis and it was called ‘Wer(en)-Khafre’, in the Egyptian language, which meant ‘Khafre is Great’ in addition to his complex that contains a Valley Temple, a mortuary Temple, and the Sphinx temple, to support the colossal Great Sphinx of Giza. Archaeologists discovered several statues of Khafre the Valley temple, where fragments of inscriptions are found, with the Horus name of Khafre on them.
