Molleker/Squire nailed the important points more, including in the first set tie-breaker. Cukierman/R. Stepanov had their chances, almost turning it around in both sets, but the execution of their return games were often insufficient. Molleker/Squire then took that advantage and shifted the moment in their favor, including from a swift return and a forehand winner as one of those points to convert 57% of their break points.

On the other hand, Molleker/Squire's first serves stood out with a 79% winning percentage, complemented with their 3 aces. They often went after Cukierman/R. Stepanov's second serves, which faded due to their 7 double faults to set them 9% behind. These often helped the former pair in the rallies to press the latter pair, hence they hung on just fine under pressure through their shots.

In the quarterfinals, Molleker/Squire will face alternates Szymon Kielan/Kirill Kivattsev, who yesterday defeated Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha/Adam Taylor 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. It could still be a tough match for both players, especially knowing how early Molleker/Squire oftentimes take the ball when they are on, as well as their baseline game.
