The gacha community is full of morons, grifters, chronic whiners, reddit-brained losers, and the most concentrated percentage of incel/femcels in a naturally formed ecosystem you'll ever see in your entire life. Any day I'm forced outside of my bubble to interact with the general fanbase of any game I play is a day completely wasted. The only way I feel normal afterwards is by sending out 10 job applications, talking to my friends, and going outside to lay face down in the grass, all in that order. The artistry and talent that goes into creating these stories, characters, and worlds is devalued each moment I see another discourse about which multi-billion dollar company rewards their slobbering masses with more free shit.

But I have to admit. The drama is often vapid, worthless, and the most entertaining nonsense you'll ever find.

Magic Kaito AU where android!Kaito didn't die, so Kaito just sort of... took him home? He starts trying to teach him how to be human, but his own person, not just a copy. Give him a new name and encourages him to make new friends and get his own hobbies.

Kaito makes up a story about his twin brother that was separated at birth. At first everyone thinks this is a prank or something, but after meeting the identical looking person and some nice fake birth certificates people start to believe.

I worked with the total bro and amazing talent @cleflink​ this year and i had an great time. i won’t spoil too much but we decided to work with a theme of dissonance in identity with our AR-outfitted cyberpunk future setting. Get ready for internal angst, robots (not just Kaito this time) and taking down the government for fun!

The original concept started off being called Kintsugi and this was my prompt piece:

circa, like, six months ago: I’m finally rereading Clockwork Heart, and it’s almost heartbreaking how much more accurate my portrayal of Kurobot is than I initially thought. ‘Course, I’ve changed some things, but a lot of this stuff (under the cut) is-

Kurobot isn’t necessarily an evil robot. He’s just.....misguided? He was created in a lab, and as such has very little - or even no - comprehension of human* lifestyles or actions.

*Human in this case meaning beings who aren’t himself.

Kaito’s something of an unreliable narrator in these panels- not because what’s happening isn’t true, but because he’s giving all the wrong emotional cues. Which, of course, is to be expected since Kaito’s really entitled and, despite knowing how to walk in other people shoes, doesn’t really ever think about other people (unless that “other people” is Aoko and, on occasion, victims of circumstances that Kaito can relate to). And of course, as a human, he has the instinctual aversion to death, since it’s permanent- what he  doesn’t realize is that permanence doesn’t make sense to something whose entire existence is literally comprised of being built and repaired.

What’s even wilder, though is that Kurobot doesn’t even know that he’s a robot. Going back a page, we see-

This means that Kurobot doesn’t see humans as dispensable like most “evil robots” do, he literally believes that humans can be “repaired” because he’s associated himself with being human.

And then later on, Kaito goes back to being somewhat unreliable, emotionally. He immediately sees Kurobot’s disassembly as an indication that Kurobot knows he’s a robot, which isn’t necessarily true? All his memories taken from Kaito indicate that he - Kurobot - is the real human, since of course the real Kaito would believe that as well. And, of course, going back to the fact that there’s so much that the scientist may or may not have revealed, or had refused to disclose to Kurobot in order to control him, we don’t know exactly how much Kurobot actually knows about his own existence.

This feels most like the turning point for Kurobot. He’s alone with KID, with his entire skin ripped off, so there’s no need to try and convince Kaito that he’s the “false Kaitou KID”. Does he truly believe it? Is he just trying to convince himself?

I had more to put here but I’ve had this in my drafts for, like, a year now at least so I’m gonna post this and add on as I remember.
