Reintroducing wolves to the Scottish Highlands could lead to an expansion of native woodland which could take in and store one million tonnes of CO2 annually, according to a new study. A team of researchers led by the University of Leeds modelled the potential impact that wolves could have in four areas classified as Scottish Wild Land, where the eating of tree saplings by growing red deer populations is suppressing natural regeneration of trees and woodland. They used a predator–prey model to estimate that a reintroduction of wolves to areas in the Cairngorms, South-west Highlands, Central Highlands and North-west Highlands would lead to a total population of around 167 wolves – enough to reduce red deer populations to a level that would allow trees to regenerate naturally. Control of red deer by wolves could lead to an expansion of native woodland that would take up - or sequester - one million tonnes of CO2 each year - equivalent to approximately 5% of the carbon removal target for UK woodlands that has been suggested by the UK’s Climate Change Committee as being necessary to reach net-zero by 2050.

Wolves were eradicated from Scotland around 250 years ago, leaving red deer with no natural predators and allowing their populations to grow across the country. Dungeon Meshi Chapter 56

Who would you pick if there was a Dungeon Meshi dating sim?

I bet the person covered up by Laios is Chilchuck's daughter and the one covered by Leed (I looked her up cause I didn't want to keep calling her "Zon's sister") is his wife.

I love how this image makes it look like Laios really wants to be in the conversation but Marcille has zero interest in knowing anything about his love life. He's just standing there excitedly waiting to answer her questions and she's ignoring him.

I got my answer to who the mystery woman in chapter 52 is. She's just a former party member who was looking for a husband and left when that failed. She's no one of importance. She probably only took an interest in Laios because of the rumors that he's a prince or descendant of the Golden Castle. And Shuro is a noble from the east, so there were two opportunities to cozy up to a potentially wealthy suitor.

I'm gonna take a quick guess at some of the Touden party's history. Kabru's mental image of the party in chapter 45 labeled Marcille as "Mystery woman", so Marcille probably is the newest member of the team. And since she and the two mystery figures have no rapport, they likely left before she joined.

The Half-foot who introduced Laios to Chilchuck was also part of the gold-peelers. And that one scumbag was included in the panel from chapter 52 of what I assume is Laios's first meeting with people who have been in his party.

So here's the timeline I imagine happened:

Initial formation: Laios, Falin, and the scumbag. The half-foot ends up recommending Chilchuck at some point

The temp joins to be with Falin but quickly leaves

Namari, Shuro, and the woman join at some point. The woman and the scumbag both leave to be with each other

Marcille joins

Chapter 1 happens

Marcille brought back the hairbraid headband but is keeping the rest of her hair in a loose ponytail.

I think we can throw out the concept of dungeon floors at this point.

I'm going to assume the whole thing about unicorns and bicorns representing purity and corruption isn't real in this world. I can't say anything for the unicorn since the only one we saw was being mind-controlled, but the bicorn's behaviour can be explained by it being a horse, an animal notorious for being easily spooked.

Marcille has only one solution to every problem.

Ambrosia is still growing miscellaneous branches. Maybe it's reacting to the greater mana concentration. I hope it's a sign that the dryad twigs Marcille added are starting to kick in and a dryad familiar will grow out of it.

Got excited to see this sandwich and disappointed to see that Izutsumi's doesn't have mushrooms. I was hoping she would have kept the part where her orc form liked them.

During the last few chapters, Izutsumi has worn her scarf loose around her neck. The bow came back this chapter. I'm sticking with my assertion that Marcille is the one doing that and it just adds to how much Izutsumi likes Marcille that she lets her do that.

This is the first time Izutsumi's been part of the party getting into hijinks of their own volition and she is not happy.

Chilchuck making a racial comment at Marcille just killed all the humor. Marcille seems to get really touchy whenever anyone starts commenting about her race. I think back to chapter 20 when Mr Tansu and Namari complained about elves when they learned how Marcille angered an undine and she responded "My race has nothing to do with it!"

At some point, Laios and Senshi seemed to forget that Izutsumi can walk on her own. Laios drops her when he tries to jump the bicorn and Senshi carries her over his shoulders for the rest of the encounter.

I was expecting the bicorn to kick Laios instead of run away.

Senshi is going to have to have "The talk" with her later.

Izutsumi, acting as the straight man in the party's antics, was the only one who kept her head straight when everything went too far.

Again, I don't think the bicorn's connection to corruption is true in-universe. It's a carnivorous horse. I think it was simply being wary of the party because it's a horse but sticking close in the hopes one of them might approach it alone. As soon as Chilchuck, the easiest prey, came near it, the bicorn attacked him.

The party members from Chilchuck's flashback were the guys from the beginning of the chapter.

What if Chilchuck introducing them to his wife led to the party inevitably breaking up? Chilchuck shows them his wife and they all see this happy, loving couple and they all start to think how they'd like to have that life as well. They may have held some budding feelings for each other, but seeing Chilchuck and his wife made everyone start to become more open about their feelings. And this caused the rift that tore the party apart.

Or maybe I'm just acting like Marcille and letting all my thoughts be dictated by romance novel plots.

Senshi's brain completely turned off when Marcille started talking romance. He just doesn't care.

I take back what I said about Marcille having any creativity. She didn't come up with The Tribe of Pelkian. She just copied the plot of The Daltian Clan.

Izutsumi was enraptured by The Tribe of Pelkian. Maybe she'd like reading this series.

Chilchuck has THREE daughters. Are they who he referred to back in chapter 30 when he said he has three people to think about?

I did a bit of digging into the translation and the word Chilchuck used in chapter 48 was 娘 (musume) which can mean both "daughter" or "daughters". So in Japanese, Chilchuck was being vague when he mentioned his family. But in English, he straight-up lied to Senshi when he tried to get him to tell them about his past.

Chilchuck is 29, 14 is considered adult age for a half-foot, and he has three adult daughters. If his youngest is 14, then he had her when he was 15. And since Chilchuck was with a different party when his wife left him, that probably means his daughters are all a bit older than that. Chilchuck is the Half-foot equivalent of a teen dad.

Public enemy and The sisters of mercy Tour: The Sisters of Mercy and Public Enemy were scheduled to tour together in the summer 1991, but the tour faced multiple challenges. Andrew Eldritch, the frontman of The Sisters, blamed promoters and record companies for poor ticket sales, particularly due to racial tensions and the controversial reputation of Public Enemy. Paris Riots/Leeds Underground: It was two 90s side projects with Eldritch and James Ray in which they were both abandoned before they put any tracks.

SSV - This record featured Eldritch's sampled vocals over drumless electronic music. The album was presented to East West Records, which accepted it without hearing it first, thereby releasing Eldritch from his contractual obligations. The record was never officially released, but it did ended up being released on the internet in an mp3 form from what I heard.

The Haruhiko magazine dolls interview: Okay so this one i barely see anything about it, from other sisters of mercy and even in the heartland forum. So I felt the need to share as a fan of kei and the sisters. So basically Eve of Destiny is an Industrial unit that began as a solo project in 1998 and is currently a duo composed of Haruhiko Ash and Közi (which is famous for having been in the band Malice Mizer). Haruhiko was a sisters of mercy fans and Haruhiko was going to interview Andrew Eldritch for Doll magazine before The Sisters' gigs on the 7th & 8th of September 1998 in Akasaka Blitz were cancelled. But he did however interview Patricia Morrison in 1996. Unfortunately the music magazine closed in 2009, and i didn't found any online archive. But after hours I was going to lose hope and thinking that this might be a lost media. I actually found it, I found a picture of the interview and the cover of the magazine sells only in Japan.

William Fulford moved from Virginia Beach, Virginia, to a new waterfront development in Florida in 2023. Nestled between Sarasota Bay and the southwestern part of Tampa Bay, the new home by Bradenton Beach was everything Fulford, a retired custom homebuilder, ever wished for.

The developers of the new Hunters Point community, Pearl Homes, billed the property as the first “net-zero” single-family home development in the US, meaning residents produce more energy from solar panels than they need, with the excess energy either being stored or sold back to the grid – in a state where most electricity is generated by burning natural gas, a planet-warming fossil fuel.

They also boast some of the most sustainable, energy-efficient and hurricane-proof homes in the country: The streets surrounding the homes are intentionally designed to flood so houses don’t. Power and internet lines are buried to avoid wind damage. The sturdy concrete walls, hurricane-proof windows and doors are fortified with a layer of foam insulation, providing extra safety against the most violent storms.

Climate resiliency and storm protection were built into the fabric of the homes. And while the newly developed homes have endured a few storms since people moved in around February 2023, Hurricanes Helene and Milton put those features to the true test over the last two weeks.

Most of the residents living in Hunters Point heeded the mandatory evacuations ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall but Fulford, 76, stayed behind with wife, Sueann, just as they did during Hurricane Helene last month.

When Gobuty started the design process for Hunters Point, it was imperative the homes be able to withstand Category 5 hurricanes. It’s the first residential development to get a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) net-zero certification in the world, according to the US Green Building Council.

Each of the three-story homes are designed like this: The ground floor is a garage designed with flood vents to drain rising water. The living spaces start on the second floor, which is intentionally built 16 feet above sea level. From the roof to its foundation, steel straps secure the entire structure. Solar panels are attached to the roofs’ raised vertical seams to prevent them from flying off.

The property also sits in a major flood zone, which meant the homes needed to be elevated to meet Florida’s building codes. Still, the developers went beyond the required 3 feet of fill dirt and used 7 feet instead to be safe.

Okay but what are the top 5 bullet points for hating MCU Spiderman? His arc? The actor? Accuracy?

You probably forgot you sent me this but I DIDN'T. This is a very serious question to be asking me and thus this is probably much longer than you initially bargained for <3

His friend group is ass. MCU MJ and Ned exist to be his yes men, they always help him, they always get along, it sucks and it's boring. People always dog on the Raimi movies because the Peter-MJ-Harry triangle is toxic but honestly that's nothing compared to the drama the original Peter-Gwen-MJ-Harry-Flash had going on. That shit would kill an MCU stan they were SO messy... and that was what made it fun and juicy. Peter's complex interpersonal relationships are so so crucial to Spider-Man. One of the reasons he became so popular is because the Peter Parker part of his story was just as interesting as the Spider-Man part, people loved his personal problems! That's why his supporting cast are just as well known by even casual fans.

Stole too many plot points and personality traits from Miles Morales. For example, see point no. 1, MCU Ned Leeds is literally just Ganke (Miles' best friend) that they slapped a Ned Leeds nametag onto.

Tony Stark and MCU Peter's desperation to be an Avenger. I actually cannot stand the desperation it's pathetic and unbecoming. Comic Peter Parker would tell MCU Tony Stark to go fuck himself on the regular if he pulled the stuff he does in the movies. Spider-Man is also not even close to as fun when he has access to all the toys and funds he could want. Also the first time he meets the Avengers in the comics they literally stalk him trying to get him to join and he keeps going "LEAVE ME ALONE" so I think it's funny MCU Peter is so desperate to be one

The personality could not be worse. One of my favorite things about Peter is that he's a reluctant hero. He wants to do the right thing, use his powers for good, but it always comes at a cost to his personal life. The constant push and pull and deliberate decision to be a good person when he doesn't want to... I love that about him. There are always hard choices in a good Spider-Man story. I once saw a movie critic that said "MCU finally gets Spider-Man right. He's a happy go lucky guy that loves being a superhero." Literally every word of that sentence is incorrect. People think that because comics are so vast, with different authors and different ways they're written that you can do whatever you want in the movie and it's fine... NO. There can be some variance, sure, but Peter has always had a distinct personality. Sure sure sure you can tweak things here and there, I'm not saying Peter always has to be portrayed as a selfish asshole who's always broke and never happy (because obviously there are times in the comics when he isn't those things) but you can't change EVERYTHING at once. Making him a guy that loves being a superhero and has zero personal life problems (aside from ??? wanting to vacation in europe and get with the girl he likes)... literally destroys everything interesting about the character.

Less about him and more about the conversation around him, my biggest pet peeve used to be people that would go "well this is the third reboot, of COURSE he's different." well NO because the MCU chose to adapt Peter Parker and Peter Parker has a specific personality and storyline. "Of course they changed the storyline" first of all they had a million options and could've just inserted an adult Peter into the MCU if they didn't want to do his origin story, but his origin story is important... I honestly think the decision to skip over it is what caused the terrible writing because without that origin you've removed all his motivations and drive. You can't just say hey we'll use Peter Parker but in order to differentiate ourselves we'll make him unrecognizable... just use a different character at that point... LIKE MILES which is what SO many people said before Homecoming came out.
