Review: 60163 City Coast Guard Starter Set
Price: $12.99 CAD
Build Time: 10 minutes
Design: This is probably the simplest starter set I’ve put together so far. Nothing fancy here, nothing that will wow you – it’s pure functionality. The coast guard watch tower will go together in a minute or two, and you’ll be wondering, “Is that all?” Yes, yes it is. Now on to the beach! One tiny thing I have to nitpick is the lifejacket accessory, which leaves a gap between a minifig’s head and body and looks quite awkward.
Play Experience: This set works very well on its own, especially if you have access to some water (even a bathtub will do), and it’s an equally great fit with basically any city set involving water. No need to buy up the full coast guard line! Although the elements of the set are very simple, there’s a lot of interactivity here, and the surfer minifig is fun to put in different places and take pictures of. If you want to expand this set and make it a bit more exciting, I also like adding the water-themed Xtra bag (available from the LEGO store), which is quite inexpensive and adds lots of neat accessories, to any water-based set.
Level of Difficulty: Nothing could be simpler. No stickers. No worries. You’ll be done with this one and ready to play in no time!
Value for money: Three minifigures, plenty of accessories, a shark, a little vehicle, and a coast guard watch tower all for $12.99 seems quite reasonable! As usual, the starter sets are a solid value, even if the builds are very simple. If you happen to have a beach handy, you’ll need nothing else to be entertained!

Amelia Earhart Tribute Freebie! It feels like this took ages to get here thanks to having to order online rather than go into the shops, but it was worth the wait! Packed very tightly into this little box was a great display piece honouring Amelia Earhart, who was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She achieved many other feats in aviation and that's why it's good to celebrate with reminders like this. It's a really sturdy build and possibly the first set I've seen where the minifig isn't the first part to be built (that I remember anyway). Very happy with this freebie, and that means there's a load more stuff in my Bricklink store ready for you lot to shop until you drop, have a look! #ameliaearhart #ameliaearharttribute #aviation #legofreebie #freelego #lego #afol #allenafol #legopic #legophotography #legoreview #legolove #legolife #legostagram #instalego (at Compstall) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMXag62nDTk/?igshid=1ic0uz0f06226

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2016) When news of Luke Skywalkers whereabouts are, a resistance team must try and rescue the BB-8 that contains the location before the first order. This is another Lego game from developers TT and on the whole it’s another impressive work. The story is a trimmed version of The Force Awakens, however saying that, with the extra missions and DLC it fills in some gaps. The best thing Lego does is add its own spin on things, and the humour in this really helps the story and if anything makes it better! It’s also pretty cool that they have the original voice actors present in the game! Gameplay wise I enjoyed the multi-build options offered, which meant you had to use the same bricks to build different items, it’s cool at times but can also make things very long winded. The game in general worked without a hitch, however I think this is the worst Lego game I’ve played for glitches. A few of the trophies were glitched, and the last mission kept glitching meaning I had to restart the game, which is annoying. The landing areas are cool, and the game has tons of mini missions and races etc to take part in in its open world element which you can traverse different planets and areas! Graphically I still get impressed how good these Lego games look, and this is no other, it looks impressive and for something as simple as Lego it still manages to push the boat out! I don’t think it quite reached the levels of depth that Lego Movie did but nonetheless it still looks great! Overall, the game is well worth a play, especially if you’re a Lego or Star Wars fan, it’s not the longest story, so you can get in, play, and enjoy if you’re not out for the platinum! #LegoStarWars #LegoStarWarsTheForceAwakens #LegoStarWarsTheForceAwakensReview #StarWars #Omareviews #Gaming #GamingReview #Gamer #LegoGames #TTGames #LegoReview #StarWarsReview #TheForceAwakens #GameReview #FollowForReviews #PS4 #Sony #Xbox #Microsoft https://www.instagram.com/p/B_fOwh4FE52/?igshid=1m487bqayiyja

Review: 31071 Creator Drone Explorer
Price: $12.99 CAD
Build Time: Appx. 15 minutes (main build)
Design: This set looked super sweet to me the first time I saw it and stuck in my head for many weeks until I finally bought it. The overall design and colour scheme are great, and there were several “Wow! Neat!” moments when certain pieces came together during the main build. The two extra builds are fine, but the main build really stands out! I also love that there is room to add a minifig to the drone and boat builds if desired.
Play Experience: With the ability to pose the camera and landing gear, spin the rotors, and lift the windshield to put a pilot inside, there is plenty to interact with on the main build. The landing gear is claw-like and able to pick things up or hold onto some interesting perches. It integrates well with City sets, including the Coast Guard and Arctic ranges due to its colours, as well as adding interesting flying vehicle options when combined with other Creator sets. On its own, the set is fun, but it’s definitely better when you add a pilot! The swamp boat, as advertised, does not float, and while it can fit a minifig, the space is very tight unless it’s standing.
Level of Difficulty: While this is a fairly small and straightforward build, it’s still a little more complex than your average City set of this size due to the number of technic pieces that might frustrate little fingers. Young builders may need some help with the drone rotor assemblies at the end of the build (and especially with disassembly). Adult builders should have no troubles, but make sure that you have good lighting in order to see the difference between the light and dark grey pieces in the instructions.
Value for money: At $13 CAD, this feels just right. Many similarly priced City sets include a minifigure and an accessory, but all of the value in this set goes directly into the vehicle, and it turns out to be worth it. I was able to get mine on Amazon.ca as an add-on item for the fantastic price of $9 CAD, but I wouldn’t hesitate to pay the full price for this set. It’s a good one!
*Ninja minifigure not included!

Minions! Set # 75549 Only 136 pieces selling at $20. I do not feel $.15/pieceis a good deal. The @lego prices are going up and the piece count going down. I was excited about this set, but honestly. It isn’t worth $20. New arms for the minions is cool. Used a regular minifig hand instead of the older version of these being all one piece. Gru isn’t special at all. I think the face prints have been seen before and his hair is just Emmet’s in black. #lego #legoreview #legominions #afols #afol #legosets https://www.instagram.com/p/B_-1-Ctpl4o/?igshid=oxdv05z47cgv
