Not gonna lie, it’s a tad alarming how many people I see say that they’re “sick of everyone getting a mate” in ACOTAR.

I mean…you’re reading SJM. Who is known to be a fated mates author. Who loves happy endings. Whose plan is for a happy ending for her characters.

In TOG wyverns had mates. In ACOSF, it’s mentioned Helion’s Pegasus has a mate.

So why is it hard to believe when something sparked in Azriel’s chest that Gwyn is his mate? Or that Lucien and Elain are actual mates that will eventually end up together?

Also, I highly doubt she’d explore a fully rejected mate of a present couple, especially when there’s a heavy emphasis through her series at how serious something like that is. How regardless, you’re soul bound to someone else for the rest of your living life and that’s not fair to put any character together with someone else bound to another in a way any other never could be. I seriously think if she ever does explore that, it’s going to be a past couple.

But anyways.

She likes mates, it’s just who she is.
