Mohammed reached out to me to help boost his fundraiser. He is a Palestinian medical student urgently raising money to evacuate his displaced 7-person family from Gaza. He has only made $7,260 of his $35,000 goal so far! Please donate, and if you can't donate, please share!
From Mohammed's GFM:
Hello, everyone, and thank you for reading my story. I am Mohammed Shamia, a fourth year student of laboratory medicine. I’m part of a 7 person family hoping to relocate to safety as soon as possible. Before the war, we lived happily in the comfort of our house in Sheikh Radwan in the north, devoting our lives to education and work.
Shortly after the war started, our house was bombed, and we've since been displaced more than three times and lost all of our money. The seven of us now share a tent in Rafah. Our only hope of restoring some semblance of normal life is to evacuate. For over 150 days, we've lacked basic necessities. Among other things, we lack access to clean water, medicine, healthcare, and gas for cooking. Our evacuation is particularly urgent because my father can't access the treatment he needs his high blood pressure and heart disease. As I write you, the Israeli army's planned invasion of Rafah grows ever closer. We have lost everything we'd worked so hard to earn and build, and now have no place to go. ‏Your support and solidarity will give us a fighting chance of surviving and building our lives anew.
Your donations will pay the $5,000 evacuation fee for the following individuals:
- My father
- My mother
- My brother and his wife
- My sister and her husband
- Me

The bouncing block of slime is capable of copying the equipment of its enemies, the different things they can copy are: weapons (not only applying on hit effects but also enchantments), shields (being able to block projectile weapons like bows and crossbows), and totems to prevent their own death. Their goo is also known to be able to be used to copy a piece of equipment to the last detail regardless of what material or enchantments it has. It's ability seems to be an evolved version of that of a mimic octopus, the mimic octopus would copy the behavior and looks of other animals for both hunting and self defense. But it seems the mimic cube can copy other materials to the very last details, including pieces of equipment.

These little creatures have incredible abilities, including but not limited to being able to smell and taste the water with their "nose" to hunt their prey, their claws are also a unique barb that allows them to hunt for fish.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE ESCALATE THIS MATTER TO UPPER MANAGEMENT -> They won't stop growing and won't stop molting throughout with their life, it is considered that they could live forever, if it wasn't bc of the energy needed to molt that they eventually (at 100 years,) won't have
They also can come in different colors, depending on amount and distribution of pigments, being able to be other colors, including: orange, blue, yellow, white, black, and some with special names, like the split halloween colored (black and red) red-blue split colored and cotton candy (pinkish white)
diagram regarding cosmaws:

A once believed extinct species, these flying creatures will attack any player that hits it, biting back with its protocesis, it also uses it to hunt its main pray, the cosmic cod, which can be used to tame them.
While they will not protect their owner in a fight, they serve a different purpose to exploration, whenever their owner is about to fall to the void, the cosmaw will run for it and try to catch it so it doesn't fall into said void.
"Cosmic Cod are fish that can be found in the void between end islands. [...] They float through the ether of The End in decently-sized schools. If one fish in the school is attacked; the entire school of fish will attempt to teleport away as soon as possible. [...] Cosmic Cod can also be caught in an empty bucket." -Animal Dictionary

I was reading a marine biology paper by a guy named Dr Walt Newell and when I looked him up for more work it turns out he's like, a superhero in Hawaii or something? And he helped headquarter the Avengers one time. Is this man as cool as he sounds?
We stan Dr. Newell around these parts.
Tumblr media
(Avengers file photo of Dr. Walter Newell in his Stingray armor.)
Stingray is a peculiarity among superheroes in that he's strictly a part-time crimefighter. Dr. Walter Newell is one of the world's foremost oceanographers, and invented the Stingray armor to aid in undersea exploration.
The armor is equipped with technology that increases Dr. Newell's strength, speed, and durability for optimal operation underneath the ocean's pressures, as well as the ability to discharge high-voltage electricity for self-defense, and a pair of large glider wings suitable for riding ocean currents.
Initially, Stingray was content to use the suit purely for scientific purposes, but he soon became an ally of Namor, the Sub-Mariner, and met his later-wife Diane through superheroics.
But by and large, Dr. Newell has been consistent about his scientific career coming first, even though he's been a reserve Avenger from time to time. His most lasting contribution to the team's history, though, may well be Hydrobase.
Tumblr media
(Map of Hydrobase, also known as Avengers Island, before its sinking)
Hydrobase was Dr. Newell's oceanographic research laboratory, constructed on an artificial island near Manhattan. When the Avengers' flight privileges were revoked by the FAA, Dr. Newell offered Hydrobase as an airfield for the team. Later, the Avengers' headquarters were relocated there in their entirety after the destruction of Avengers Mansion by Baron Zemo and his Masters of Evil. They remained there until its sinking by robots dispatched by Latverian dictator Doctor Doom.
Since then, Dr. Newell has continued his scientific work - first from a station near the Bahamas, and later as part of the Fifty-State Initiative's Hawaiian team, the Point Men.
All that to say: yes, he is extremely cool, and proof that not everyone with powers has to be a full-time superhero - but it's admirable when they can step up to the plate and help when needed.

Deep underneath the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean lies a dazzling landscape of undulating coral reefs colored by photosynthetic algae, from which corals get their energy. But in the early 1980s an aquatic heat wave caused by the El Niño climate phenomenon led to a record-breaking mass-bleaching event, turning more than 90 percent of these corals a pale, lifeless white. The algae—which had thrived inside their coral hosts for millions of years—could no longer bear to live within them.
Strong El Niño events warmed up the same Pacific waters in the late 1990s and again in 2015–2016, but scientists noticed that these heat waves didn’t affect the reefs as badly as the first. Diving after the latest event, University of Miami marine biologist Ana Palacio saw that some of the corals seemed to be resisting or recovering from the bleaching. Maybe, Palacio thought, they’ve found a way to adapt.
Many adult corals are tethered to the reefs they build. Swimming to cooler waters is not an option, making them particularly vulnerable to the changing climate. But corals are also resilient, and scientists are discovering how they adapt. Some corals switch out their algal tenants for more heat-resistant species. Others can use rows of tiny hairs on their bodies to “fan” away excess harmful oxygen released by stressed-out algae. And certain baby corals modify their own metabolisms to withstand the warming waters. Scientists hope to use such natural adaptations in the race to preserve these crucial ecosystem anchors.
When Palacio and her team examined coral reefs after the 2015–2016 heat wave, they found that particular corals called Pocillopora—the main reef-building coral species in the eastern tropical Pacific—seemed to have expelled the algae that usually reside within them and taken in other species that were more tolerant to the heat.
“They start changing their [algae] community as the water becomes warmer and warmer, and they associate more and more with this thermotolerant algal symbiont called Durusdinium glynnii,” Palacio explains. This species’ name comes from the Latin word durus, meaning “rough” or “tough.” Most symbiotic algae produce toxic levels of oxygen under heat stress, forcing the corals to evict them. But Durusdinium keeps its levels tolerable.
Yet the corals don’t always rely on their algal guests to avoid excessive oxygen, researchers have found; sometimes they can take matters into their own “hands.” Rows of cilia—tiny, hairlike projections—can act like corals’ own personal ventilation system by fanning excess oxygen toward spots that lack it.
In 2022 marine biologists Cesar O. Pacherres and Soeren Ahmerkamp, then at the University of Bremen in Germany, showed that these fast-beating cilia create microscopic whirlpools in the water, swirling the oxygen around and preventing it from harmfully accumulating in any one spot. All corals have this ventilation system, but how much they use it can vary between species. The scientists now plan to test if and how some vulnerable corals—such as those in the Great Barrier Reef—beat their cilia faster in response to higher temperatures.
And corals aren’t always stuck in place; their larvae float freely through the ocean before settling, which offers crucial opportunities for a species to shift to more hospitable waters or spread its heat-tolerant genes. That’s why Ariana Huffmyer, a marine biologist at the University of Washington, is particularly interested in how baby corals adapt to higher temperatures. She and researchers at the Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology recently showed that coral larvae, if exposed to warm water for as little as three days in the laboratory, alter their own metabolism to cope with heat stress and avoid bleaching.
Corals typically provide a small amount of nitrogen to their resident algae, and in return they get carbon, which they use as an energy source. “To maintain [the algae’s] own survival and give the nutrients required to the host, there’s a really intricate, delicate and very complex nutritional relationship between the two,” Huffmyer says. Under stress, corals produce too much nitrogen. This excess causes the algae to go into hyperdrive and divide a lot more—hoarding the carbon and keeping it from their hosts. Huffmyer discovered that baby corals exposed to short periods of heat stress learn to keep the excess nitrogen to themselves and don’t overshare with the algae, maintaining a stable symbiosis.
Pacherres cautions that such adaptations can protect an organism only to some extent. “They have the tools to withstand certain things, but past that limit there’s not enough they can do. For example, if it’s hot, we [humans] can sweat to alleviate the heat. But if it gets too hot, we die,” he says. “At one point sweating is not enough.”
But whatever heat-beating tools corals do have can help scientists develop protection strategies. Baby corals that can withstand stress are especially important for conservation efforts because they can travel between reefs and potentially share heat-tolerant genes in new locales. “The larvae from those reefs are already preadapted to some degree to rising temperatures, so we need to protect them because they’re in some ways the source of the future,” says Madhavi Colton, a conservation scientist who researched science-based tactics to save corals at the nonprofit Coral Reef Alliance.
Natural coral adaptations can also aid direct interventions like stress-hardening corals in nurseries before planting them back into ocean reefs. “You need to grow corals that are more likely to survive than the corals that died before,” Palacio says. If researchers can persuade corals to adopt heat-resistant algae or if they activate genes that can deal with heat stress, it raises the corals’ chance of surviving future ocean heat waves.
“When you dive and see a beautiful healthy reef with these colorful corals ... I still feel this euphoria of being in this whole alien underwater world,” Huffmyer says. “It’s hard to go back after a bleaching event and see it dead. But that does give you the motivation to want to use whatever your skill set is, whatever your passion is, to try to help.”

The Machine Herald - Viktor (Lore Text)
The herald of a new age of technology, Viktor has devoted his life to the advancement of humankind. An idealist who seeks to lift people to a new level of understanding, he believes that only by embracing a glorious evolution of technology can humanity’s full potential be realized. With a body augmented by steel and science, Viktor is zealous in his pursuit of this bright future.
Viktor was born in Zaun on the borders of the Entresol level, and, encouraged by his artisan parents, discovered a passion for invention and building. He devoted every waking minute to his studies, hating to interrupt his work even to eat or sleep. Even worse was having to rapidly relocate if there was a nearby chemical spill, accidental detonation or incoming chem-cloud. Abandoning his work, even for a short time, was anathema to Viktor.
In a bid to impose a level of order and certainty on his world, Viktor researched Zaun’s many accidents and came to realize that almost all of them were the result of human error, not mechanical failure. He offered his services to the local businesses, developing inventions that made them far safer working environments. Most turned him away, but one - the Fredersen Chem-forge - took a chance on this earnest young man.
Viktor’s inventions in automation reduced the number of accidents in the forge to zero within a month. Soon, other establishments sought his work and Viktor’s designs became common in Zaun, improving production with every innovation that removed human error from a process. Eventually, at the age of nineteen, he was surprised to be offered a place in Zaun’s prestigious Academy of Techmaturgy. But Viktor’s work had attracted the eye of Professor Stanwick of Piltover, who convinced him to leave Zaun and travel to Piltover’s academy instead. There, he could work in the most advanced laboratories and gain access to all the resources the City of Progress could offer. Thrilled to be singled out, Viktor accepted his offer and took up residence in Piltover, where he refined his craft and sought to perfect his theorems in ways that would benefit everyone.
Viktor worked with Piltover’s best and brightest; including an insufferable genius named Jayce. The two were equally matched in intellect, but where Viktor was methodical, logical and thorough, Jayce was flamboyant and arrogant. The two worked together frequently, but never truly became friends. Often, the two would butt heads over their perceptions of intuition vs logic in the process of invention, but a level of mutual respect developed as each saw the flawed brilliance in the other.
In the midst of his studies in Piltover, a major chem-spill devastated entire districts of Zaun, and Viktor returned home to offer his help in the rescue efforts. By grafting a sophisticated series of cognitive loops upon existing automata-technology, he crafted a custom-built golem, Blitzcrank, to help in the clean-up. Blitzcrank was instrumental in saving scores of lives and appeared to develop a level of sentience beyond anything Viktor had envisioned.
Even with the spill contained, Viktor remained in Zaun to help those afflicted by the released toxins. With the golem’s help, he attempted to use his techmaturgical brilliance to save those whose lives had been blighted by the spill. Their attempt was ultimately unsuccessful in preventing more deaths, and the two parted ways. Though Viktor was distraught at the loss of life in Zaun, the work taught him a great deal about the merging of human anatomy with technology and how mortal anatomy could be enhanced with technology.
When Viktor returned to Piltover, weeks later, it was to find that Professor Stanwick had held a symposium on Blitzcrank and presented Viktor’s researches as his own. Viktor lodged formal complaints with the masters of the college, but his impassioned claim that he had designed Blitzcrank fell on deaf ears. He turned to Jayce to verify his claims, but his fellow student refused to speak up, further widening the rift between them, and the matter was decided in Professor Stanwick’s favor.
Bitter, but resigned, Viktor returned to his studies, knowing that his ultimate goal of making people’s lives better and enhancing humanity was more important than one stolen project and a bruised ego. He continued to excel, finding ever new ways to eliminate human error and weakness from his work, a facet of his researches that came to dominate his thinking. He saw human involvement in any part of a process as a grossly inefficient aberration - a view that put him at odds with a great many of his fellow students and professors, who saw the very things Viktor sought to remove as the source of human ingenuity and creativity.
This came to a head during a reluctant collaboration with Jayce to improve the diving suits used to keep Piltover’s docks clear of underwater debris and lingering chemical waste. Viktor and Jayce’s enhanced suits allowed the wearer to go deeper, remain underwater for longer, and lift heavier weights. But many wearers claimed they saw phantom corpse lights in the depths or suffered from chem-induced hallucinations. When divers experienced such symptoms, they panicked and often got themselves or their fellow divers killed. Viktor saw the problem was not technical, but with the wearer’s nerves unraveling in the inky depths. He devised a chem-shunt helm that allowed an operator on the surface to bypass the wearer’s fear response and, effectively, control the diver. A heated discussion between Viktor and Jayce on free will and mental enslavement turned bitter - almost violent - and the two vowed never to work together again.
Jayce reported the incident to the college masters, and Viktor was censured for violating basic human dignity - though, in his eyes, his work would have saved many lives. He was expelled from the college, and retreated to his old laboratory in Zaun, disgusted by the narrow-minded perceptions of Piltover’s inhabitants. Alone in the depths, Viktor sank into a deep depression, enduring a traumatic period of introspection for many weeks. He wrestled with the ethical dilemma he now faced, finding that, once again, human emotion and weakness had stood in his way. He had been trying to help, to enhance people beyond their natural capabilities to avoid error and save lives. Revelation came when he realized that he too had succumbed to such emotions, allowing his naive belief that good intentions could overcome ingrained prejudice to blind him to human failings. Viktor knew he could not expect others to follow where he did not go first, so, in secret, he operated on himself to remove those parts of his flesh and psyche that relied upon or were inhibited by emotion.
When the surgery was done, almost no trace of the young man who had traveled to Piltover remained. He had supplanted the majority of his anatomy with mechanical augmentations, but his personality had also changed. His idealistic hope to better society was refined into an obsession with what he called the Glorious Evolution. Viktor now saw himself as the pioneer of Valoran's future - an idealized dream where man would renounce flesh in favor of superior hextech augmentations. This would free humanity from fatal errors and suffering, though Viktor knew it was a task that would not be completed easily or quickly.
He threw himself into this great work with a vengeance. He used technological augmentations to help rebuild Zaunites injured in accidents, perfected breathing mechanisms, and worked tirelessly to reduce human inefficiency by decoupling physicality from emotion. His work saved hundreds of lives, yet seeking Viktor’s help could be dangerous, as his solutions often brought unexpected consequences.
But if you were desperate, Viktor was the man you went to.
Some in Zaun, hearing fragments of his philosophy and seeing the successes of his work, saw him as a messianic figure. Viktor couldn’t care less for them, viewing their quasi-religious cult as an aberration; yet another reason to eliminate emotional foibles and the belief in that which could not be empirically proven.
After a toxic event in the Sump saw hundreds of men and women in the Factorywood transformed into rabid psychotics, Viktor was forced to use a powerful soporific to sedate the victims and bring them back to his labs to try and undo the damage. The toxins had begun to eat away portions of their brains, but Viktor was able to slow the degenerative process by opening up their craniums and employing machinery to slowly filter their bloodstreams of poison. The technology available to him wasn’t up to the task, and Viktor knew many people were going to die unless he found a way to greatly enhance his purgative machinery.
As he fought to save these people, he detected a surge in hextech energy from Piltover and saw immediately that this could give him the power he needed. He followed the powerful energy surge to its source.
Jayce’s lab.
Viktor demanded Jayce hand over the source of this power, a pulsing crystal from the Shuriman desert. But his former colleague refused, leaving Viktor no option but to take it by force. He returned to Zaun and hooked the strange crystal to his machinery, readying a steam golem host for each afflicted person in case their body gave out under the stress of the procedure. Empowered by the new crystal, Viktor’s machines went to work and, gradually, the damage from the toxins began to reverse. His work would save these people - in a manner of speaking - and had Viktor retained more than a fragment of his humanity, he might have celebrated. As it was, the barest hint of a smile was all he allowed himself.
Before the process could complete, a vengeful Jayce burst in and started smashing the laboratory with an energized hammer. Knowing an arrogant fool like Jayce would never listen to reason, Viktor ordered the automatons to kill Jayce. The battle was ferocious, and only ended when Jayce shattered the crystal Viktor had taken, bringing the entire warehouse down in an avalanche of steel and stone, thus ending the existence of those Viktor was trying to save. And for this, Jayce returned to Piltover, feted as a hero.
Viktor escaped the destruction of the laboratory, and returned to his mission of bettering humanity by ridding it of its destructive emotional impulses. In Viktor’s mind, Jayce’s impetuous attack only proved the truth of his cause and strengthened his desire to unburden humanity of the failings of flesh. Viktor did send chem-augmented thugs to raid Jayce’s laboratory not long afterward. This was - Viktor told himself - not for revenge, but to learn if there were any more shards of the Shuriman crystal he could use for the advancement of mankind. The raid was unsuccessful, however, and Viktor thought no more of Jayce.
Instead, he intensified his efforts to find ways in which humanity could be shepherded beyond their emotional weaknesses and brought into a new, more reasoned stage of their evolution. Such researches sometimes transgress the boundaries of what would be considered ethical in Piltover (and Zaun), but they are all necessary steps in bringing about Viktor's Glorious Evolution.

Meet the Townies: ᴇᴛʜᴀɴ ᴀɴᴅ ɪꜱᴀᴀᴄ
Ethan Harper grew up an only child and spent his formative years immersed in the world of engineering. His fascination with machines and technology was inspired by his father who was a skilled mechanic. While attending high school, Ethan secretly began working on a personal project where he attempted to design and build a robot. He poured countless hours into this endeavor, often sacrificing teenage milestones to tend to this robot he later named ISAAC (Intelligent System and Advanced Assistant Companion). Upon graduating High School, Ethan enrolled at Foxbury Institute where he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his time there, Ethan excelled in his studies, consistently earning top marks and impressing his professors with his innovative ideas and dedication to the craft. In his free time, he continued to work on ISAAC since the university's state-of-the-art facilities and access to cutting-edge resourced allowed him to make significant improvements. He refined ISAAC's design, enhanced its capabilities and incorporated the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics. After graduating with honors from Foxbury, Ethan quickly began carving out a professional life for himself. His reputation as a brilliant young engineer opened many doors and he received numerous job offers from leading tech companies. Ethan's expertise eventually caught the attention of the military who offered him a position to develop a project for them. Though he initially hesitated, the opportunity was too enticing to pass up. Despite his professional success and the accolades he received for his work, Ethan felt an intense void in his life that he couldn't seem to fill. His relentless pursuit of perfection in his projects, particularly with ISAAC, often left him feeling isolated. The extensive time he spent in the lab, both during his time at Foxbury and throughout his career, meant that his personal life took a backseat. Ethan's social interactions were limited and he found it difficult to connect with others on a deeper level. His closest colleagues, at one point, noticed and gently encouraged him to step out of his comfort zone and try dating. Ethan reluctantly agreed and while the dates he went on did not lead to a lasting relationship, it helped Ethan open up and see the value in balancing his personal and professional life. As he continued to make strides in his professional career, Ethan was approached by his alma mater, Foxbury institute, with an invitation to teach part-time. The university recognized his achievements and believed that his expertise could inspire and educate the next generation of engineers. Teaching at Foxbury became a profoundly rewarding experience for him. Standing before eager students, he shared his knowledge and passion. He found joy in helping them navigate their own paths and would often encourage them to think creatively and push the boundaries of what was possible. Meanwhile, ISAAC continued to improve every day, becoming an indispensable part of Ethan's life. By this point, ISAAC's capabilities extended far beyond what Ethan originally intended. ISAAC excelled in research assistance, laboratory management, and technical maintenance. The robot could analyze complex data, run simulations and suggest innovative solutions to engineering problems which significantly sped up Ethan's workflow. ISAAC also managed clerical tasks such as organizing files, scheduling meetings, and maintaining equipment, allowing Ethan to focus on more critical aspects of his projects. ISAAC'S home automation features made Ethan's personal life a breeze, as well. The robot could control various smart devices, perform household chores, such as cleaning and grocery shopping, and even cook meals based on Ethan's dietary preferences. Recently, Ethan and ISAAC relocated to the town of Oasis Springs due to a job offer at a cutting-edge research lab.

“Okay,” Buck says, once everyone is sitting around Maddie’s living room. Everyone being himself, Maddie, Eddie, Athena, Ravi, Hen, and Karen. May is once again watching the kids. “In the interest of time, Maddie has written out something for me to read to you guys, so just… Let me do that, I guess?”
Hen shoots Maddie a sad look. Buck takes it she was pretty shocked to hear Maddie isn’t speaking again. Hen is looking rough this morning. Weary. Tired. Gaunt. But she showed up, and Buck supposes that’s a pretty incredible feat.
Everyone else just nods.
“Thanks,” Buck starts. He looks down at the page and takes a deep breath. “Alright, here we go. I stayed up last night thinking about how we could possibly find Howie and Bobby. It seemed like a dead end. The chances of them being relocated to Netch-Co’s other known location are minimal.”
Athena nods, interjecting. “Already sent Officer Williams by SoCal Lab to check on that. Bottom floor is still vacant.”
Maddie nods grimly.
Buck keeps reading.
“So, I thought, what information might be publicly available to help us? And I remembered the lab’s building schematics. I accessed them during the call. I remembered the architect. A private design and contracting company called Titan Developments.”
Maddie passes some papers around the group. All the different building plans and locations she printed out earlier.
“I figured, if you do this sort of work, you probably have on contractor you trust,” Buck reads Maddie’s words. “Fewer cooks in the kitchen, the more secure it is.”
“Smart,” Karen says.
Maddie gives her a tired smile.
“I was able to find a list of building permits acquired by Titan Developments. I’ve filtered them down to laboratories and other similar secure facilities. Anywhere they might have brought our husbands. Please see the handouts.”
“I can’t believe you had the energy to create handouts,” Ravi whispers.
Maddie shrugs. As if to say, she didn’t have the energy. She simply couldn’t rest.
“There are almost a dozen locations on this list,” Eddie says, scanning it. “How do we narrow it down?”
Maddie hands Buck a different note to read aloud. She was prepared for any line of questioning, huh?
“Okay, uh…” Buck takes the new note. “You might be wondering how I think we should narrow it down.”
Eddie smiles softly, impressed.
“My guess is that they had to move them quick, so they chose something nearby. But also, if you look at the map of locations I provided, there is one out of the country. A single location, in Nogales, Mexico.”

54 for 🩸
---
As long as he isn’t wracked with this desperate thirst, he isn’t a danger.
He feels that he must appear more normal, too. The fangs in his mouth are less prominent. He feels his muscles relaxing. His body is less tense. He can stand normally. He can act normally. Everything but keeping up a regular pattern of breathing. He can even stand in the daylight without feeling sick.
Bobby thinks that means he can go home. He thinks, if he can be less monstrous, he can go home. He wants to go home so badly.
He’s practicing staying outside, practicing exposing himself to the late afternoon sun, when he senses them. The kids. They all arrive at once, and it surprises Bobby. Buck, May, and Harry. An interesting combination. When have they ever been all together without Athena or himself present? What has happened in his absence?
Rather than crawling back to the mausoleum, Bobby lingers behind a row of taller stones, crouched and listening, as they approach his grave. Half of him wants to hide, the other half wants to rush to them. To tell them he’s okay. To be near them again. He hesitates. He hasn’t committed to revealing himself to Athena yet. How can he be sure it’s safe to spring it on the kids?
He doesn’t choose yet. Instead, he listens. He observes. He waits.
Buck is walking a pace or so ahead of May and Harry. Like he’s leading them. He’s got another small bunch of asters in hand. Bobby took the last two bouquets. Brought them down into the mausoleum. Maybe he shouldn’t have, maybe it’s suspicious. But they helped, somehow. Even though the first set have died now. They were something tangible and real and gentle and they were delivered by someone he loves. It made him the slightest bit less lonely.
“Wow,” Buck says, reaching the headstone. “They took my flowers again. I don’t get it. Is there a rule against leaving them?”
“Other graves have them,” Harry observes.
Shit. Bobby really is being suspicious.
“Huh,” Buck frowns. “Well, what the hell?”
“That is weird,” May says.
It’s good to see Harry and May. To hear their voices. Buck, too, of course, but Buck has been here.
---
A bit less than 54 for 🔼 because it's the end of the chapter
---
“That’s not what I meant,” Buck admits. “I just meant that… Sometimes… I guess, sometimes it still feels like, uh, I’m not… Like I’m disjointed from the rest of the picture. Like I don’t belong as much in the family as everyone else.”
“That’s not true,” Eddie insists.
“I know,” Buck nods. “I know that now. It’s not anything you guys did. It’s my own insecurity, because it’s an insecurity I’ve always had. And I guess I thought if there was a kid I was legally tied to, in some way, or even just one that saw me as a primary parent, not just a bonus… I don’t know. I thought it would fix it. But that’s not the issue. So… It doesn’t matter.”
Shannon’s mouth tightens. “You are not just bonus. You’re so important, Buck.”
Buck smiles at her. “I’m going to try telling myself that from now on.”
“Good,” she smiles.
“Point is, I don’t care whose genes this kid has,” Buck says. His eyes feel a little misty. “I’m really excited to meet them.”
Eddie grins. “I feel the same way. It doesn’t even matter.”
“It doesn’t,” Shannon says. “They’ll be all of ours.”
Buck smirks. “Call it a three way split. Thirty, thirty, thirty.”
Eddie snorts. “Yep. That’s how genes work.”
“Honey, that leaves ten percent leftover,” Shannon says.
Oh. Right. It does. Buck’s cheeks heat.
“You know what, I was just struck by lightning, Shannon. You can’t expect me to be good at math right now.”

The Loomis Radio School, Washington D.C. ca. 1921.
The school was located at 401 Ninth St. N.W. and operated with the call letters 3YA. By 1920 it was offering a six month course enabling the graduate to obtain a first grade commercial radio license and by January of 1922 was offering a four year course with a degree in Radio Engineering bestowed on graduates.
The school was founded by Mary Texanna Loomis, pictured in the last photo.
Born August 18, 1880 near Goliad, Texas. She was the second child born to Alvin Isaac and Caroline (Dryer) Loomis. Though born on homestead in Texas in 1880, by 1883 her parents had returned to Rochester NY and then on to Buffalo where Alvin became president of a large delivery and storage company. Little is known of her early years, but appears she had a fairly middle-class up bringing. She seemed well schooled, with an early interest in music and language (she mastered French, German and Italian) Her early years were spent in Buffalo, NY and she later relocated to Virginia.
During the early years of World War I, she became interested in the new field of wireless telegraphy. There was a family precedent; her cousin, Dr. Mahlon Loomis, had conducted early wireless experiments with moderate success and may in fact have been the first person, in 1865, to send and receive wireless signals.
Mary soon became proficient enough in wireless telegraphy to be granted a license by the United States Department of Commerce. Thoroughly fascinated with the field now called “radio”, she decided to turn her expertise into a career. Also, she wanted to do something that would honor her pioneering ancestor. Her idea was to do this by founding a radio school.
Though radio was indeed, for many years, a profession dominated by men, Mary Loomis around age 40 took no notice and in 1920 founded the Loomis Radio School in Washington, D.C. and it quickly gained an excellent reputation. Ms. Loomis set high standards for the school and it attracted students not only from the United States but Europe and Asia as well. Loomis enjoyed teaching as much as she enjoyed radio itself. In an interview, she said, “Really, I am so infatuated with my work that I delight in spending from 12 to 15 hours a day at it. My whole heart and soul are in this radio school.”
As president and Lecturer of the Loomis Radio School, Mary authored a definitive book on radio, named “Radio Theory and Operating.”
By January 1922 the school was offering a four year course with a degree in Radio Engineering bestowed on graduates. Loomis also intended that her students understand more than just the inner and outer workings of radio. In addition to a radio laboratory (with equipment constructed almost entirely by Mary herself), the school maintained a complete shop capable of teaching carpentry, drafting and basic electricity. She reasoned that many of her graduates might find themselves at sea, or in other challenging situations and she wanted them adequately prepared. “No man,” Ms. Loomis said, at the time, “can graduate from my school until he learns how to make any part of the apparatus. I give him a blueprint of what I want him to do and tell him to go into the shop and keep hammering away until the job is completed.”
The school appears to have been in existence at least through the early 1930's, but it has not been possible to find information after that.
In an interview given to H.O. Bishop of the Dearborn Independent in 1921, Mary was asked: “What sort of young men are taking up the radio profession?” to which she replied:
“The Kind who have grit and want to get there! Virtually all of them are ambitious and enthusiastic over the possibility of visiting every nook and corner of the world. My students are not only enrolled from various sections of the USA and Canada but from many foreign countries, such as Sweden, Ireland, England, Poland, Russia, Austria, Rumania and the Philippines. One of the brightest pupils I ever had was Prince Walimuhomed of Far-away Afghanistan. He was an extremely modest young man, keeping his real identity a secret until after graduating. He said he had no idea of earning his living by working at radio, but just wanted to know all about it. He does.You have no idea how much happiness I get out of the success of each individual graduate. My boys keep in touch with me from all parts of the world. Scarcely a day goes by that I do not get some trinket or postcard from some remote section of the world. I have made the wonderful discovery that the only way for me to get happiness for myself is to make some one else happy. I find that I am making these young men happy by teaching them every phase of the radio business so that they can earn a comfortable living for themselves and their dependents and at the same time, see the great big beautiful world.
As far as we can figure out, Mary Loomis left Washington D.C. around 1935 and moved to San Francisco where she worked as a stenographer. She died in 1960 and is interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA.

OC #3: Cucaracha (Species)
Tumblr media
Again, Cucaracha (Racha, for short) isn't exactly an OC, but a stage of life for a species of Anthropomorphic Cockroach.
Rachas are the most common type of roach you'll see, since most roaches spend their lives in this life stage, after a Curichi grows up. It'll take them a while before they grow to the next stage.
STORYTIME! The roaches are literally just a science experiment gone haywire. A scientist wanted to find out what a chemical they developed was capable of, and they used a common roach to test it out. But they did it in their garage. The first test failed, mostly. The roach stood up on it's hind legs, but nothing more. So, in the next tests, the scientist combined the chemical with a roach larvae, and it started growing much larger than before. After coming to the realization that it might be way too risky to do this in a garage, they tried having it relocated to a much more secure laboratory, but on the way to the lab, the vehicle they were being taken in got into a car crash, and the larvae fell into an open manhole leading to the sewers. They were carried away by the water currents, which made it impossible to get them back before they hatched. Thus, once the new, anthropomorphic roaches grew and multiplied, they swarmed the Earth, and began their rampage.
FACT TIME! Rachas have a thick chitinous shell, which protects them from a lot of things, but smacking them with something heavy is usually enough to break the shell and make them more vulnerable. Guns are not the best choice, but try a baseball bat, or a hammer. Just make sure they don't crawl on you.
Most of these roaches usually won't attack if they're not around their kin. But even if they're alone, if you make them mad, you're probably toast. You can tell if a roach is upset if their antennas are curling upwards a bit. They don't show anger on their face, usually.
It's at this life stage when the roach starts speaking in broken English. Before a Curichi grows into a Cucaracha, Curichi's usually say "Richi," like a Pokémon. But now they can say stuff that a human can probably understand.
im done with this bug. the next post is going to be about the last life stage, and then im done with the roaches. cya!

Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Doctor Dorian
Emile Dorian was a former geneticist in Gotham City where he was Kirk Langstrom's tutor. Upon creating the T-99 mutigen, Dorian turned to criminal activities. He was quickly found out and was forced to flee Gotham. He relocated to an uninhabited island somewhere off the coast of South America where he continued his experiments. He managed to create Garth, a genetically-altered gorilla and later Tygrus, a half-man, half-tiger hybrid possessing greatly augmented attributes.
Dorian believed Tygrus represented a pinnacle in evolution and that his kind was destined rule the earth.  Yet Tygrus yearned for a mate.  As such, Dorian dispatched Garth to abduct Selina Kyle, the notorious Catwoman of Gotham.  Once she was in his clutches, Dorian used the T-99 to transform Selina into an anthropomorphic cat-woman.
Discovering Selina’s abduction, The Batman followed her trail to the remote island.  There Batman was forced to reckon with Tygrus who nearly defeated him.  Tygris proved to possess a nobel spirit, he did not want Selina to forced to stay with him if she did not want to.
A furious Dorian concluded that it was Selina who had made his creation weak.  He attempted to kill Selina, an act that caused Tygrus to fly into a rage that destroyed Doran’s laboratory.  Ultimately, Tygrus chose to spare his creator’s life and he handed Dorian over to Batman.  Selina was returned to her human state and Tygrus wandered off into the jungle.  Dorian, meanwhile, was tried in a South American court and sentence to life in prison.
Actor Joseph Maher provided the voice for Dr. Dorian with the mad scientist appearing in the thirtieth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘Tyger Tyger.’

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things were getting dicey in the news. The League was on the move...meaning your lover was getting anxious. They'd had to relocate from their home base in Kamino Ward, and Dabi's visits were growing few and farther between. Not by his choice of course...he loathed being far away from you. There was an ache like no other burning throughout his body...just for you. It grew stronger with each passing day. Each new encounter was more possessive. More greedy. More needy. Filled to the brim with an intensifying passion. It was enchanting. Some intrinsic part of you wanted to say to hell with it all and run away with him. But...you still had a job...an important job at that. You were one of Detnerat's Support Item specialists, and, lately, they'd been asking way more of you than ever before. Rumors were spreading about some shifty work higher up...and...when the new requirements for your temperature controller popped up with new measurements...and a familiar-looking jacket to attach them to...you slowly began to connect the dots. You were making Support Items for villains...or at least, your company was. More specifically...your life's work was going to belong to exactly who spurred it in the first place. Touya Todoroki.
...
Once Detnerat's allegiance was revealed to its employees, Dabi decided he wanted you closer. You got a letter in the mail at the end of last week...from your boss...your boss's boss's boss... Re-Destro himself. It was something about a promotion, effective immediately, with instructions regarding new living quarters and a laboratory for you to carry out your projects. The next day, moving trucks arrived at your apartment complex, along with a stretch limo with a nearly silent and slightly rude driver. You panicked, packing what little you owned as quickly as possible.
...
The limo stops at Gunga Mountain Villa: an old architectural blemish hidden in the forests of the mountains. To your surprise, you quickly gathered that this was, in fact, the home base for the Paranormal Liberation Front...an organization that you knew Dabi had recently joined as a lieutenant.
Speak of the devil, the moment you step out, Touya Todoroki appears out of thin air.
"What a coincidence," He smirks sarcastically, looking down at you with a mischievous glint in his eye behind his indifferent facade. "I'll lead you to your new home, darling," He muses, and you fall into step beside him into the villa. The halls are bustling with all sorts of riff-raff going about their daily duties, and some of them give you confused stares, immediately looking away once a certain pair of cerulean eyes bores into them.
In the distance, you see a lanky figure brandishing a laptop; his long, inky black hair hangs loosely. You recognize him from Dabi's descriptions whenever he'd complain about his new colleagues.
"Is that-" Before you can finish your sentence, Dabi nods.
"Stay close. Don't talk to him," He murmurs under his breath, and you feel Dabi's arm wrap around you, pulling you close to him and draping over your shoulders as Skeptic approaches.
"Off to have fun with your little pet, I see," Skeptic snorts cynically as he walks, typing away and barely looking up.
"She's not a pet!" Dabi snaps, eyes burning as venom coats his voice, seeming to dare Skeptic to hurl any more insults. Luckily, the man keeps walking in the opposite direction. Dabi's jaw clenches as he squeezes your shoulder, walking even more briskly. He leads you up several flights of stairs and down a hall to a door.
Your heart stutters in your chest as Dabi opens it. You recognize the charcoal black walls...the black silk satin bedsheets...you'd seen it in pictures he'd sent you of himself. Though...there's a noticeable addition to Touya's bedroom. One of the walls has been replaced by a mirror, hung parallel with the bed on the opposite wall.
"The movers will set up the rest of your things in your lab. It's gonna be in the basement by the auditorium," Dabi yawns absentmindedly as you shrug off your backpack filled with blueprints. "But...this is where you live now. I guess," He shrugs, trying to sound indifferent, but you can hear the tension in his tone.
"So...we're sharing this room?" You raise your eyebrow, and the devious grin spreads across Dabi's face once again.
"Unless you have any complaints about it," He croons, turning to face you. The room is dimly lit, and Dabi pulls the door closed before taking a few more steps toward you.
"I know you've had a stressful day with the short-notice move...so why don't we relax?" He chuckles darkly.
"Remember as always. Anything you don't like. Just say the word. I don't mind," He whispers in your ear, and you nod. Even in his darkest moments, this is something you're always thankful for. Despite him being a literal villain, he's gentle with you...unless otherwise discussed. He's...deliberate with you. Sometimes it makes you wonder if he's scared the slightest wrong move will scare you off. The last thing you want is for him to disappear...after all...you'd only just recently gotten him back after all these years. He loved you. He truly, wholeheartedly loved you. It was a bit strange, considering how he was portrayed in the news and by the public. Sure, he could be called a monster for his patchwork skin and for the things he's done, but you knew a different side of him. A real side of him. A raw side of him. A side that...perhaps you were the only one to ever see. He cups the side of your face, gently stroking your cheek with his thumb...and sweetly connects your lips. You dissolve into his embrace, feeling his hand snake around your waist and pull you flush against him; both of your hearts pound in your chests as you kiss one another passionately. It's so easy to get lost in Touya's kiss, especially with how your lips fit together like a final puzzle piece. Every time he kisses you, it's as if the whole world suddenly makes sense. Nothing else exists but you and Touya.
Dabi's hand drops from your cheek, resting against the back of your neck and pulling you in as he slides his tongue against your top lip. You let him in, meeting his tongue eagerly with your own. The hand at your waist travels to your back, gripping the fabric of your jacket in a fist. He wants it off. Without a word, you start shrugging out of the sleeves, and Dabi begins to slip out of his own jacket. The conductor cuffs clink to the floor, but you'll worry about repairing them later. Dabi's kisses grow more hasty, lips sloppily connecting over and over and over before he starts to move from your lips to your jaw. His hands find their way to the buttons of your blouse, roughly unbuttoning it at a furious pace. You submit to him, letting him drag his teeth down to your neck, where he starts intensely sucking on your flesh. You gasp when his hands cup your breasts, squeezing them in a way that's borderline concerning, but you know he'd never hurt you...not in a way that you didn't consensually ask for at least. Hot and heavy breaths burst from your lips as your hands find their way through his charcoal-colored hair, eyelids fluttering as he bites down possessively. Slowly, you feel him leading you backward to the bed, and, the next thing you know, you're falling onto those inky silk sheets.
"Fuck," Dabi's voice is gravelly as he groans against your skin, and something stirs between your legs when you feel his clothed erection pressing up against you. Instinctively, you roll your hips, and Dabi practically melts into your arms, his resolve shaking as the muted stimulation sends shockwaves down his spine. Something snaps in his brain. His fingers start tugging your pants down, and you hurriedly kick them off with your shoes as your arousal grows. Dabi's lips trace down your body, licking between your tits and further down still, trailing down your stomach before stopping at the waistband of your panties. Teasingly, he hooks his fingertips below the elastic, plucking it so it gently snaps back against you. Blush tints your cheeks as he looks up at you with a knowing grin before he kisses your inner thigh, slowly snaking down your leg until he reaches your ankle.
"Take 'em off. On all fours, princess," Dabi commands, love lacing his tone as he briefly gets off the bed to finish disrobing. You follow his orders without a word, tossing your panties off the side of the bed before facing the headboard as you get on all fours.
Dabi clicks his tongue as you feel the bed creak.
"Face the mirror," He coaxes, and you shudder, following his instructions...you can see him climbing onto the bed.
Dabi's calloused hands trace over your thighs, gripping them tenderly as you hear a soft sigh from behind you. You lift your head, looking into the mirror as you were instructed, and you can see that your lover's eyes are practically glowing. The blazing cerulean bores into you, staring into your very soul...it's such a desperate longing gaze that he might as well be ripping the flesh off your body and leaving you completely bare to the bone. You watch him reach over, pulling the lube out of the nightstand drawer and pouring a generous amount on his throbbing cock. He shivers, muttering curses under his breath as he smooths it over, lazily jerking himself off as he stares at you.
"You're so fucking gorgeous, y'know that, princess?" He groans, bending down to press a slow kiss between your shoulder blades. The gesture sends shivers down your spine, and you can't help but stare in the mirror, as if in a trance, as he slowly starts to sink into you.
"Oh, God," Touya huffs, pressing into you until his hips meet your backside. The stretch feels so familiar, yet it still throws sparks across your vision.
"Touya," You stutter, and you feel him twitch deep inside you. He loves it when you moan his name...he's obsessed. Delicately, he starts rocking his hips, pumping inside you at a steady pace that wrecks your brain.
"That's it, baby," He pants, squeezing your thighs again as he pulls you to him, "Lemme hear you."
You can't help but dissolve into a stuttering, groaning mess as he fucks you, sweat dripping down your neck; Dabi reaches around, pulling you off your hands and knee and hoisting you up so your back presses against his chest. Your eyes practically roll back into your head as his hands travel roughly up your body, subtly heated fingertips pinching your nipples. Right as you open your mouth to moan his name again, Dabi takes one hand and forces your head to the side before giving you a sloppy, open-mouthed kiss. His tongue slides against your own, almost like he's trying to savor every inch of you. The sounds of skin slapping against skin echo throughout the room, the undertones of both your muffled, pleasured noises peppered throughout.
"Feel so good," Dabi growls against your lips, his voice cracking on the end of his words as he twists your nipples and licks a wet stripe up the side of your face.
"Back down, sweetheart," He rasps, gently taking his hand from your chin and putting pressure between your shoulder blades. You lower yourself back down on all fours, your body jolting as he picks up the pace. Pleasure boils in your blood as Dabi's hand travels from your nipple to make a swipe at your folds, getting a mixture of your slick and his pre before rubbing it on your throbbing red clit. You cry out, twitching against him, and you hear his dark, strained chuckle behind you.
"Is this too much for you?" He sneers, rutting up into you, but his movements start becoming hasty, and he's losing his composure. You can feel his cock pulsing, and you just know he's close. You can feel it in your bones...and you're skyrocketing to the edge yourself. 4
"Fuck-I'm-," Dabi stutters before roughly pulling out all at once, forcing a pained and confused whine from your lips before he reaches between your legs with one hand, pumping two fingers inside and thumbing at your pulsating clit as he fists his dick with the other. You pant heavily, weak moans falling from your lips as you watch everything with blurry eyes, tears welling up from the overwhelming emotions. It all feels too good. So...so good. The feeling is apparently mutual as your name softly rolls off of Dabi's tongue as he comes undone with a few more strokes, and you feel the heat spreading on your back. Dabi's fingers twitch inside you as his body shudders, and, to your dismay, you feel him slowly slip his fingers out as he sighs. Uncomfortably on the edge of your orgasm, you sink, forehead touching the pillow as he suddenly grips your shoulder.
"Hold tight, babe," He mutters before climbing off the bed. From the mirror, you can see him walking into the side bathroom. You close your eyes and grit your teeth as you hear water running from the bathroom. It's taking everything in you to not start touching yourself like an animal in heat. Finally, the water stops, and you blink through watering eyes to see Dabi walking behind you with a rag in his hand. Delicately, he touches the warm, damp fabric to your back, and you feel something in your heart twist as he wipes you down with an unusual tenderness. His other hand gently rubs at your shoulder, massaging until he finishes cleaning you up. He grunts as he sits back on his knees, carelessly tossing the rag into a laundry basket in the corner before suddenly grabbing your hip and shoving you sideways; you find yourself on your back, staring at the ceiling. Your eyes widen as you look down to meet his half-lidded gaze.
"Oh, no. We're not done yet. You think I'd be so cruel to tease you like that? Good girls deserve rewards," He croons, hooking his arms under your legs as he lays down. Before you can blink, he's dragging his warm tongue up your dripping slit, flattening it out so every inch of you is tended to. He dives into your pussy, and you feel the cold contrast of the staples on the side of his face pressing into your thighs as his hot breath teases your clit. Finally, he wraps his lips around the pulsing bud, sucking with a lewd desperation as he looks up at you with hungry eyes. Your back arches, head sinking into your pillow as your eyelids flutter shut, and you get chills when you feel the vibrations as he sighs into your folds.
"Eyes on me," He hums under his breath, and you obey, looking down at him as he laps up your slit. His eyes are glassy, probably from coming down from his own orgasmic high as he steadily coaxes you back up to your own. Still, those cerulean irises shimmer in the darkness of the bedroom.
"Fuck, I love you," He groans, tongue swirling around your clit as his hands travel up your thighs. You try to respond, but the only thing that you can do is just helplessly whimper in pleasure. Dabi's eyes close, breath hissing sharply through his nose as he switches his deliberate rhythm, tongue flicking and swirling in all the right places. The pleasure is consuming at this point, and you feel it building deep inside you, threatening to come crashing down all at once.
"Come in my mouth, princess," He rasps greedily between sloppy licks and suckles, the obnoxious noises filling your brain. Dabi can't get enough, and you can see, hear, and feel it. The way he's devouring your aching pussy. The way he can't look away from you. The way his breath gasps like he's trying not to moan at your taste. It's all so much. It's so...
You're gonna come soon. You can feel it in your bones and the way your muscles start tightening up. Heavy sighs and sobs of pleasure pour from your mouth, and, unconsciously, you hook your ankles around Dabi's neck. The villain melts, obsessed with the idea of being locked into you; he's determined to make you scream.
Suddenly, the waves of raw euphoria flood your body, and your body practically convulses, eyes almost rolling into your head and jaw dropping in a strangled gasp. Still, Dabi doesn't stop. He practically latches on, not caring that you're almost suffocating him with your thighs as they flex involuntarily. He breathes hard, eyes flitting closed again as a low groan rumbles in his throat. He holds you down, slurping up your fluids and eating you out through your orgasm. Finally, he pulls back, lips dripping and body shaking as he gazes up at you.
"Fuck," You sigh, shuddering as your head swims in the clouds and your muscles finally stop spasming. Dabi crawls up to you, grabbing the edge of the comforter and throwing it over the both of you before pressing a longing kiss to your forehead. He scoops you up in his arms, cuddling you close as he nuzzles into the top of your head.
"We get to do this as often as you want now, princess," He snickers, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you as close as humanly possible. His skin is warm, and the silk sheets feel impossibly soft against you. It feels...peaceful. It feels...like home.
"I love you, Touya," You whisper when you get your bearings, and you swear you hear him trying not to cry, but you don't look for confirmation.
"I love you, too," He replies, and you let yourself fall asleep in the arms of one of Japan's most dangerous villains.
