i grew up in a concert goer family. my mother used to go to any concert she possibly could, no matter how cheap or awful tickets were, and my father often went along. lady gaga was the most expensive, but it was a "sorry i got caught with weed and had to use your graduation trip money for bail" because my mother. well. self explanatory - we were supposed to go to nyc for wicked for my graduation. i think i'm happy i saw gaga instead.

I HAVEN'T SEEN EVERYONE, JUST A BIT!!!
Alright here's a list of concerts I've been to:
Joan Jett on tour with Cheap Trick and Heart
The Pretty Reckless
Stevie Nicks on tour with The Pretenders
Lady Gaga (my favorite)
Halsey
Billie Eilish (back in 2018 when she wasn't as big and wasn't playing in arenas yet)
Kesha (Rainbow tour, absolutely amazing!)
Marilyn Manson (2019 and I used to be goth and so I liked his music it was before I knew he's a piece of shit) on tour with Rob Zombie
Alice in Chains on tour with Korn
Tears for Fears on tour with Garbage (literally one of the concerts of my dreams)
Melanie Martinez Portals tour
Melanie Martinez Trilogy Tour (okay I've been to 12 concerts, I thought it was 11 lmao)
(I also have seen Pat Benatar and Kansas live but didn't pay tickets for that, it was at festivals that were free so I don't count those lol)
I think Peeta would like Fleetwood Mac. His favorite song by them would be silver springs

Kmedia Opinions with Minnie #12
At this point, BTS are at the same stage of their fame that we've seen with many Western artists.
And that's having their name splashed on anything and everything, and that product selling no matter what the price is. You cannot tell me that selling pyjamas for more than 100$ isn't extortionate. An item of clothing cannot be the same retail price as a concert ticket. It's ridiculous now. HYBE are plastering BTS on anything, because they know that a majority of army will buy it without question. And sadly, it's worked before.
Hell, HYBE sold cassette tapes to promote butter and because it's official BTS merch, it sold. But the product received less than seller reviews. It was and looked like a cheaply produced product.
Are BTS aware? Perhaps, and I like to think they are, because even Seokjin reacted adversely when he heard the price of the pyjamas.
If you need a Western example, Lady Gaga had her name plastered around for other people/businesses profit so much she had considered leaving the industry that made her a household name in the first place.
Because this is what companies do. When artists become famous enough, they are pulled left and right by companies (and in BTS's case, their own) to sell - more often than not - cheap, mass-produced products to consumers.

It's weird when artists sell tickets for a tour and the album didnt come out yet. Didnt Bleachers do it too? I mean I guess I wouldnt mind if it was my favorite artist cuz you're seeing them and you'll probably like it anyway. For me it depends on price too. I've been to a lot of small cheap concerts when I didnt know the band that well and still had a good time, but I dont have a lot of money to spend on artists I kinda like if that makes sense. I feel like we dont know a lot about the album yet so I would be unsure and i dont know what her shows are like. Like i would do it for Taylor, Beyonce or Lady Gaga cuz I know they put on a good show and i consistently like them. This is just hypothetical cuz I didnt even know about her tour but does it make you nervous at all..especially after insiders said the album would be a lot different. Congrats though and I'm sure you'll have a great time anyway!
yeah I think it's pretty common, especially at the moment because next year is probably very in demand for touring so artists are having to get them booked in advance! I think actually quite a lot of the concerts I've been to have gone on sale before I've heard the album, where I like them enough that it would be exciting to see them even if the songs aren't my favourite. with lorde I have a good feeling about the album and I know that I like her previous songs so I'm sure she'll include a few of them too and I think she'll probably put on an enjoyable show regardless. but yeah the price is a massive part of it, I was preparing myself for if they were expensive then I wouldn't bother but they were only £40 each and it's a fairly short drive away as well which is a plus!

top five bands/singers
Top five is tough... I definitely know top two.
Fall Out Boy
I won't bore you with trivia this time lol because I'm tired but here's some personal trivia: I've been listening to them since I was 5 years old. My sister listened to them, and I would sit outside her bedroom and listen while she played her From Under The Cork Tree CD, which is my favorite album to this day. I've seen them live 5 times! Tinley Park, IL, Springfield, IL, Allegan County State Fair, MI, United Center, Chicago, IL, and Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL. Also, after 1 hour and 40 minutes of refreshing twitter due to technical difficulties on their end, I was able to get tickets to The Mania Experience in Chicago, the day after the Wrigley concert, which was amazing. In lieu of gifs, here's some cool photos I took
Allegan County State Fair, MI
I got gold pit tickets to this concert for cheap which was unreal and the reason why is apparently this fairgrounds has big names like Carrie Underwood and Lady Gaga play there but the grounds are literally in the center of this totally normal suburbs?? It was so bizarre my dad was driving through this neighborhood and all the sudden there's this totally mundane fairgrounds. Everybody in line was local too like they couldn't believe we came all the way from Illinois. Also, where my dad and I were at the pit line was to the right of the women's bathroom, so I spent 3 hours telling people "This isn't the bathroom line, this is the concert line" lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AREN'T THESE (albeit blurry, it was 2015, my phone camera wasn't that great) PHOTOS RAD?? I have them on my wall
Okay I know I wasn't going to bore you with facts and this is getting long but this concert was a wild ride ok. After 3 hours in the line, they opened the gate to the pit and from there you just had to fucking SPRINT to the stage, first come, first serve. As you can see, I got up front, my dad caught up with me shortly after lol. But we were packed in like sardines, and the concert was scheduled to start in 1 hour. I was so claustrophobic and I had to pee but I couldn't leave without moving my spot, people were already trying to shove their way through as it was. Then there was a delay, so it was 2 hours total. After 5 hours of waiting, Fall Out Boy came out and the discomfort, claustrophobia, having to pee, and foot soreness all went away. Shortly after it started to pour raining (FYI, everybody was so close together, my shoes were dry the entire time.) and I didn't even care, nobody did. It was such an amazing experience, I was like, buzzing lmao. This lady in front of me was jumping on my feet at one point and I didn't even feel it. I would love to go again someday
Here's Wrigley Field and The Mania Experience Chicago, IL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was the last room, and the WHOLE ROOM was tile and there were tons of sharpies so you could write messages to them it was so cool. There were some genuinely mean messages though and my best friend and I crossed them out LMAO
Panic! At The Disco
I saw Panic! Live once at Tinley Park but I don't have any good photos from that lol so here's gifs
Tumblr media
Brendon Urie is one of those people that just radiates sunshine and is just so genuine and good, and he's also one of those people that you watch and you can just SEE that they love what they do with ever fiber of their being and this is what they are meant to do. Whenever I'm anxious I watch videos of him because it makes me smile LOL
Uhhhh fuck I gotta pick 3 more... I listen to such a cluster of bands/artists, FOB and P!ATD are the only ones that I listen to like, entire albums lmao and the only ones I've seen live, so I think that says a lot. Let me think I'll come back and edit this later and add more

My Taylor Swift ticket buying experience.
I saw a lot of people having bad experiences, but I had none what so ever.
So I was buying for the second LA show, July 26th.
I live in LA and most of the shows I have gone to are at the Forum which is literally right across the street next to the SOFI stadium. Honestly that lot has been a complete mess since construction started and I can’t wait for them to build an actually parking garage because that dirt lot is horrible.
The SOFI stadium has been in construction for like forever. It’s brand new and holds about 70-100k. Seeing that the concert is having people in the field I’m guessing closer to 100k for the concert. Gillette Stadium is huge, but holds 20-40k less depending.
So I can see the frustration when purchasing tickets because the SOFI obviously was selling more.
I entered the waiting room right when it opened at 3:30 PST. I stayed in the waiting room until about 4:50.
FIFITY MINUTES after they had went on sale! But fortunately I had a choice of tickets and I took my time picking out the seats. When I got in there were hundreds, if not a thousand of $44 tickets on sale. There were also several tickets right on the field that were about $250. Which I thought was crazy cheap for them
I ended up getting two tickets at the $94 range. they were in the second balconies from the top, 3rd up from the field.
I made my purchase at 5:15 ( thats when i got my confirmation email, so right before that.)
I took roughly 20 mins picking out the tickets and seats I wanted.
I’ve never had a problem with Ticketmaster at all including last week with Bille Eilish ticket presale, Lady Gaga presale.
I honestly think the problems stemmed from the capacity issue between both stadiums they had less tickets at a lower price.

April 2019
"Hating things: it tended to tell you who you were. Loving things rarely did." / "Joni Mitchell was sitting in the doorway, placidly licking a paw, the feline equivalent of a bitch filing her nails." // Hermione Hoby's Neon in Daylight was such a good read, I thorougly enjoyed it. Hoby has such a nice writing style. I didn't know anything about the book when I picked it up from a library shelf, I just liked the cover and the blurb. Literary luck!
More books: Kurt. I don't know what it is about Sarah Kuttner's writing but it always hits close to home. I loved the description of the old house, the garden work. It made me want to move into my grandma's house with a sad boyfriend, watering the roses with a hose on a lazy summer evening.
Cat eating corn. Feline ASMR. I also spent an evening watching all of these oddly satisfying and soothing videos.
"Training war die Gelegenheit, den Körper an Schmerzen zu gewöhnen." (Takis Würger, Der Club)
Angela Carter's writing. Her characters, her plot-twists and magical realism. Most of all her incredible language. It's the same storyline I usually tell about my closest friends - at first I hated Nights at the Circus but soon realised that I actually loved it.
Fleabag and the priest. SO hot. As well as her jumpsuits and red lipstick. And don't even get me started on Kristin Scott Thomas' guest appearance.
My first time in Canada! I only visited Québec though and had to try my best to speak French in a comprehensive manner. Random moments, things and facts to keep in mind: Diet Cherry Coke obsession / my French improving noticably; learning about the Québecois accent / that bus we took on our way to Québec - it had a lounge area in the back with leather sofas, I kept thinking that a dance pole and a fancy drink were the only things missing / veggie or even vegan-friendly restaurants like Aux Vivres, Copper Branch, Lola Rosa, La Panthère Verte and - my favourite - Momo (who make vegan sushi with their very own scents and flavours; quite floral and very intense, super delicious of course) / getting to meet Emily (thanks, Manu!) and spending the evening with her and her roommate Frankie from London; I loved geeking out over Pixie Dust and Butterbeer in The Lockhart pub, quizzing each other with Harry Potter related Trivial Pursuit questions / meeting Mélissa Lefebvre and Paul Tom who presented their movie Bagages to us / the Canadians - very laid back, friendly, easy-going; I loved their individual looks, you really had the feeling you could come as you are and will always be accepted / of course I like the lumberjack-y vibes of many Canadian men - flannel shirts, bearded and long-ish hair - exactly my type / and I like how inclusive Canada is, at least in Montréal: they put an emphasis on gender equality; I met quite a few openly gay and trans people, too / visiting lots of small concerts (TEKE::TEKE, Les Breastfeeders, Ohmme, Bayonne, The Kalmunity Jazz Project) - I love how cheap the tickets are; I never paid more than 20CAD / my favourite vintage store in Montréal: Eva B. It's huge, and they serve vegan snacks! I got two pairs of Cowboy boots, a purple silk jacket and a green bandana / meeting a few friendly cats (one on the lap of a lady in a wheelchair) and an acrobatic gaga-squirrel / Montréal's architecture - the staircases, the stained-glass windows; all the street art, and of course the city's most enigmatic street, Boulevard Saint-Laurent / maple everything; maple-covered almonds, maple toffee, cookies, candy... unfortunately I usually only enjoy the first few bites, the sweetness is a bit sickening after a while; I even refer to maple toffee as diabetes on a stick / to contradict myself immediately: a weird obsession with Fruit Loops for breakfast (I blame the buffet... I never act normal around food if there's an all-you-can-eat option) / the Château Frontenac in Québec reminding my of the ending scene in 10 Things I Hate about You when Letters to Cleo is playing on the rooftop (in fact they filmed it in Tacoma though, at Stadium High School; but the building had originally been designed as a French château/luxury hotel before turning it into a school) / I didn't care much for Québec cité but our hotel was definitely a plus factor: there was a pool, a sauna and an outdoor hot tub so obviously we spent far too much time in the hot water, enjoying a cold beer, watching the old naked guy in the window across the yard watching us / almost being able to count the layers in the ice accumulating at the bottom of the Montmorency Falls - I think ice is such a fascinating, underrated material; maybe I should go to Iceland and find a good glacier (oh, and I didn't mind the rainbow there either) / a small indoor lake with a surface like a mirror-glaze cake / the huge drawings of a hut overrun by snails - almost like an oversized page of a graphic novel - at the biennale de Québec //
Starting to realise that I do have a plethora of skills and talents other people can only dream of; maybe I should start putting them to good use. Sometimes I notice how easy certain things are for me which also means that I take a lot for granted. I should be more grateful and appreciative, I suppose.
Celebrating my uniqueness. Is there a better place to start wearing freaky clothes and hairstyles than Montréal? Not really. Bless strange pigtails, 90's sunglasses and strong opinions.
The weirdest song has been stuck in my head for days now. They must have played it in that Tex Mex restaurant on Boulevard Saint-Laurent and I subconsciously remembered it?
Inuit art. I love their sculptures made from stone, bone and wood. I don't know if they're meant to be comical but if they are I absolutely appreciate the Inuit's sense of humour.
Getting tipsy on red wine and vermouth in the airport bar with Maxim and Martina. I guess the others thought we were stoned since they knew we had walked past a SQDC in Montréal in the afternoon. I liked spending time with Maxim, finding out about his personality and unexpected beliefs. Still waters run deep. We might actually visit the Buddhist Centre in Munich together. I wonder if they can finally teach me how to meditate. And Martina has a heart of gold. I hope we'll keep in tough. I hadn't expected that of all the people in the group those two would turn out to be the ones I'd click with.
Noticing how lush and green Germany is all of a sudden. I could already see the change from above looking out of the plane window. I like seeing this as a big difference after being gone for two weeks because I don't appreciate it quite as much when I see it happen gradually.
Coming home. Enjoying sweet solitude. Sleeping in my own bed. With heavy blankets. Enough space. The perfect smell. So much better than hotel beds. Returning to my favourite breakfast routine (oats, apple, blueberries, nuts, almond milk) after gaining at least two kilograms on horrible breakfast buffets and poutine.
The insane amount of wisteria growing along a neighbour's balcony and house front.
My first time in Herkulessaal at Munich's Residenz - for a pretty special occasion, too. Chilly Gonzales playing together with some guest musicians. Gosh, I LOVE him when he's rapping. Such a talent. And a Canadian! He's actually from Montréal. What a coincidence.

A Traveler’s Guide to the Best Bets in Las Vegas
I have spent a lot of money in Las Vegas, and I don’t gamble much. I’ve paid $250 for a Cirque du Soleil ticket, taken a gondola down the faux canals of Venice for $60 and, on occasion, vastly exceeded my wine budget.
Las Vegas thrives on convincing visitors to splurge, which I considered when Lady Gaga opened her concert residency at the Park Theater. Recently, tickets for the back-row center balcony were selling for $466 (fans in the front row were paying $2,500).
Value, of course, is subjective. But price creep on the Strip, as the casino-lined stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard is known, is objective, as resort fees at several high-end casinos rose $6 to $45 a night this year. Rooms, food, drinks and entertainment are increasingly important money makers for casinos, where gaming revenue has fallen from nearly 62 percent in 1984 to a little under 43 percent in 2018, according to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
On a quest to find value, I spent three days riding buses, hunting for cheap and tasty eats, and sampling bargain entertainment. Here’s what I found.
Take the bus
There is one certain money-saver in Las Vegas: the bus. The city of endless traffic lights and taxi fleets is a tangle to transit. Even ride shares are expensive; I took an Uber less than one mile one evening and it cost $8.
But the bus system is affordable and reasonably efficient, especially if you stick to the Strip. A double-decker bus called the Deuce runs 24 hours between downtown and Mandalay Bay resort. A two-hour pass costs $6; an all-day pass costs $8.
I bought a $20 three-day pass and got access to the entire transit system, including a clean, spacious and uncrowded bus from the airport to the Strip, which paid off on that first ride.
Everything about taking the bus, of course, takes a little longer. I waited for 10 minutes at the airport terminal, rather than just hopping in a cab. After a few stops, I connected to a Strip-bound bus at the South Strip Transfer Terminal, a mass transit hub, which was easy to navigate.
The payoff to this relatively slow form of travel was a scenic ride past the Welcome to Las Vegas sign and other landmarks. Other than the Deuce, which can be dominated by tourists, most of the buses I rode were used by local workers and students, with a rare sprinkling of visitors.
Eat off the beaten path
On the suggestion of a friend, I bussed from the airport directly to Tacos El Gordo — a 60-minute trip (I missed the 108 bus, which gets there in about half the time). With roots in Tijuana, Mexico, the cheerfully crowded taco stand in a nondescript strip mall between downtown and the Strip features a row of meat carvers behind the counter, ready to shave spit-marinating pork into pliant corn tortillas ($2.60). Two tacos topped with chopped onions and cilantro made a bargain meal. I was lucky to get a table.
It’s not that you can’t eat cheaply on the Strip. Donald Contursi, the owner of Lip Smacking Foodie Tours, introduced me to several specials, including the $29 three-course lunch, which includes creamy Greek spreads such as tzatziki and grilled fish at Estiatorio Milos, and $5 happy hour appetizers at Mr. Chow. At Eataly, a bustling new food hall that anchors the Park MGM hotel in a space that could double as a train station, focaccia slices sold from $2.90.
But by wandering farther afield, I found intriguing and affordable food. Downtown, I wandered from the dimly lit Downtown Cocktail Room, lively with locals during “halfy hour,” when my $12 Paloma was $6 (Monday through Saturday 4 to 7 p.m.), to the new robata bar Hatsumi at Fergusons Downtown, a former motel now housing restaurants, shops and co-working spaces. Decorated in cartoon monsters, Hatsumi served skewered meats ($2 to $6 each) to the mostly under-40 urbanites who are repopulating downtown Las Vegas.
A friend who lives in another gentrifying neighborhood, the Arts District, guided me to Able Baker Brewing Company, an industrial spot with the brew kettles in the back named for the first two atomic bombs, Able and Baker, detonated at the Nevada Test Site north of town in 1951. Here we had juicy I.P.A.s (most pints, $5 to $8) and generous pork banh mi sandwiches ($9). On the cusp of the Arts District, I paid $6.50 for a chicken-stuffed arepa, or corn cake folded taco-style, at the Venezuelan Viva Las Arepas, a low-key quick service spot where I watched Latin American telenovelas with the office lunch crowd.
Through Eater, which has a thorough guide on cheap eating in town, I discovered Takopa, a tiny and friendly Japanese spot where I sat at the bar and watched the cooks prepare their specialty fried octopus fritters (four for $4.95) in Chinatown, a neighborhood filled with pan-Asian dining deals that required two buses to reach, but worth every bite.
Beware resort fees
Cheap hotels aren’t hard to come by in Las Vegas, though rates vary with business and event traffic. My spacious $40 room at the El Cortez Hotel & Casino downtown was $100 the previous week when several conventions were in town.
Wherever you stay in Las Vegas, you’re bound to have sticker shock because enticing offers — $19 a night! — don’t include resort fees, which run about $25 to $45 a night. The $25 fee at El Cortez brought my nightly rate to $65, still a good deal for an updated room — with lime green walls and Art-Deco-style, black-and-white décor — in-room coffee and a ground-floor gym.
For a real retro stay, downtown’s 1906-vintage Golden Gate Hotel & Casino has 10 original rooms — small but updated for those who just need a bed — that often sell for $25, plus a $25 resort fee.
Attractions worth the admission
When it comes to cultural attractions in Las Vegas, expect to pay. The Mob Museum charges $29.95 admission, but if you’re interested in history, you’ll get your money’s worth learning about the role of Prohibition in establishing organized crime at the former post office and courtroom where hearings were held on the subject in 1950.
Also uniquely Las Vegas, the Neon Museum preserves the city’s castoff signage. I paid $24 for the 25-minute night show “Brilliant,” which syncs light and sound to reanimate the otherwise dark signs. The separate tour of the regular collection, called the Boneyard, costs $30.
During my stay, the lowest ticket available for “Run,” the new Cirque du Soleil show, was $79, or $105 with fees. Instead, I spent $37 ($52 with fees) to take in “The Mac King Comedy Magic Show” at Harrah’s Las Vegas, a daytime-only delight starring the Kentucky-born star who manages to entertain all ages with surprising tricks, sly humor and hilarious interactions with audience volunteers.
“Being the affordable show has been good for me,” said Mr. King, who started out in 2000 with tickets at $10. “Now it’s like buying an airplane ticket with all the fees.”
Freebies by the mile
In three days, I walked 22 miles and didn’t really notice given the entertaining hustlers en route. On my walks I saw costumed showgirls posing for pictures, listened to a classical violinist and passed up one gentleman who offered, according to his sign, “to do something weird” for $1.
When I needed a break, I went to the wildlife habitat at the Flamingo hotel and casino. At 2 p.m. daily, a keeper feeds two rescued California brown pelicans, Bugsy and Virginia — named for Benjamin (Bugsy) Siegel, who built the original Flamingo in 1946, and his girlfriend Virginia Hill — and calls out to the other exotic waterfowl, including Chilean flamingos. The rare smoke-free haven provided benches (also rare) and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Among free tours, I attended an “open house” at “Ka,” the high-tech Cirque du Soleil show at the MGM Grand. It essentially functions as a 30-minute sales pitch for the show, but offers a fascinating look at the 80,000-pound rotating stage and other wizardry.
Another morning, I signed up with the concierge at the Park MGM for a free art tour of the garden-themed resort and was introduced to contemporary works by Guy Yanai and David Hockney. Similarly, the nearby Aria resort offers tours and a self-guided map to sculptures by Maya Lin and Henry Moore.
Downtown’s free attraction, the Viva Vision light show at the Freemont Street Experience, projected on a 1,500-foot-long overhead video screen, attracted more buskers. But the real payoff was at Gold Spike, a former casino billed as an “adult playground” (free admission). Instead of gambling, there’s a bar, co-working spaces and indoor games like cornhole, and a vast outdoor yard where I caught a soulful set from Cimirriar Deniece, a local singer.
On my return to the airport, I stopped at the nearby Pinball Hall of Fame (free admission) and spent $5, one quarter at a time, playing games that went back as far as 1964, the kind of slot machines that pay off in joy.
Bottom line: The cost of my trip was about $350 for a three-day stay in Las Vegas.
