Imagine being with a yandere dryad but you’re allergic to pollen.
Springtime, he gets his feelings hurt when you sneeze on his vines trying to feel on you as per usual.
And being the melodramatic flower king he is, decides to cry all heartbroken. As if you spat in his face and called him hateful slurs.
He’d trip over his roots in an attempt to hide himself away within his bark. Not before sneakily leaving seedlings in your pockets.
Since he’d always need to keep tabs on his darling even if he’s having a dramatic meltdown.
In the forest, folk would rush to take pictures of the famed sad willowy tree that resembles a man is weeping.
Since oddly enough, the said tree is only sighted during spring. And you were the cause of it.
Meanwhile, you just came back with some allergy pills, sighing as you reverted to being a tree hugger.
To coax him into reverting back to his humanoid state.
Saying the iconic phrase “It’s not you, it’s me Leafy—“ head ahh.
——-/———-
A/n: just a funny ramble I came up with since I’m basically allergic to everything green outside 💀

Eating out a tree nymph when you feel soft, leafy vines caressing their way up and around each leg with thick trails of fragrant sap sticking along your skin where they touch you
Your legs being forced apart while the rubbery ends of vines snake their way into your ass and cunt, gently stroking and fucking you open, filling you with that warm sap which induces you to relax despite your initial groans of protest
More vines encircling your wrists and tugging them up behind your back, tied and trapped on your belly at the mercy of the nymph who grips your hair in both hands and grinds her swollen, earthy-tasting clit harder over the tongue spilling from your mouth as the effects of her sap have you panting slowly, eyes rolling up into your head
Giggling voices intermingle with excited rustlings of leaves from surrounding trees as you struggle to recall stumbling into a huge grove of very playful dryads

More Sims based on names~ Leslie makes me think of an 80s business woman, but it also feels leafy, like, "I just planted some Leslie in the garden," so together it makes me think of an 80s elf/dryad.

A plantsim. She was "acquired" as a mate (because I advocate for same-sex pregnancy LOL) by my starting "tribe" leader in the "raiders" save. Which was very lucky for her because plantsims are very valuable according to the save's rules. (For one thing, they don't eat. LOL One less mouth to feed.)
Anyway, I prefer to think of plantsims as a sort of dryad, with a very leafy/vine-y sort of feel to them. The skin I use for them has some leaves and vine-y veins on it, and I dress them in a skimpy vine outfit and use makeup and accessories to add some scales that I pretend is a bark pattern. I hate plantsim hairs, though, so they have "regular" hair. I just use braided styles and color them in greens/browns/oranges/golds and pretend they're braided vines. LOL

I've been playing some BG3 with my partners and at the same time saw a really cool picture of a lionsmane mushroom that was growing in a pond and looked like a crone, so I decided what if Halsin loved the forest so much that he often found himself with the first dryad?
[IMAGE ID: In the swaying leafy tendrils of a weeping willow tree, two figures are seen in profile, standing in water. Halsin on the right, is holding a feminine-looking figure, who rests their hand on his shoulder. The figure on the left, the dryad, is made of the long shoots of a lionsmane mushroom, stark white and glowing. It is unclear if they are taller than him or if he is holding them aloft, as their body from the torso down is just a sheet of mushroom cascading into the water around them. The pair are looking at each other with romantic intention, and Halsin's farther hand is pulling the "hair" from around the dryad's face. END IMAGE ID]

(image description: a digital drawing labeled "making humanoids less human" with secondary captions on each side that say "alternate evolution" and "exaggerated features". above the secondary captions, there are two portrait sketches of very humanoid characters. on the "alternate evolution" side is an elf man with long dark hair. on the "exaggerated features" side is a woman who could be a nature fairy or a dryad, with flowers in her hair.
below the captions, these two characters have been redrawn to match their categories. the elf man has been redrawn with features more similar to a monkey, such as a very flat elongated nose, a small chin, and ears that sit higher on his head. the dryad or fairy woman has been redrawn with huge eyes and angular features, turning her hair with flowers into whole leafy branches with flowers. end description.)
hi i'm still around and i am finally caught up on things in my life, so i have time to catch up with this blog and all the questions people have asked! starting with a very old one. or several.
I had multiple anonymous messages asking me how I would draw specific fantasy beings to be less human, including witches of various elements. Rather than trying to answer each of them individually, I thought it would be more effective and helpful to talk about the general idea of taking fantasy designs that are usually more human looking and changing them to be less human. My favorite option is the alternate evolution, which I have been working and working on with my own fantasy people species.
Elves in particular have been a struggle, because I chose to keep my elves as a type of primate. It's been rough trying to abandon the recognizably human parts of their design and further embrace the simian features, because my brain does still have an internal bias towards the standard "elves are humanoid but more beautiful" trope. But I think I'm finally hitting the right level of "monkey" in their design.
The other option shown here is one I just don't do much, and which could be even further exaggerated into the uncanny valley. Take your humanoid characters and just shove them into the uncanny valley, exaggerate their features, add new things that have nothing to do with speculative evolution and just help emphasize the unique traits you want them to embody. elemental witches who become more and more fused with their element. nature beings like dryads that really just look like they broke out of the center of a tree. etc.
I'll make a few more posts with full body examples for both options, but I hope these portrait examples help a little!
remember, you don't need me to give you every detail of how your character and creature designs should look, and you don't need anyone else to do that for you either. If you want a particular artist to give you a specific design exactly as they would draw it, you ask about commissions and you pay them to do that design for you. this blog exists so I can post my ideas and give advice and occasionally nitpick about common mainstream fantasy design tropes that bother me lol. I'll give you ideas, but you gotta do the work yourself. that's how you improve.

Something a little bit different today as I got some Sylvaneth units - a trio of Dryads.
Fun little tree guys that I did in an autumnal colour scheme as it felt more interesting than a "standard" leafy green 😊
Not my usual aesthetic but definitely fun as a quick paint job 😁

Halloween Short: Suburban Witch DIY
I haven't been posting much this week- but here's a fun little story I wrote a few years back about a witch to tide y'all over.
Happy Halloween!! 🎃
---------------------------------------
The monthly coven gathering was going to start in less than an hour and Maurli was just taking care of the finishing touches. The fish legs and frog tails had been taken out of the freezer to thaw, the bags of commercial brand coal had been hauled from her baby blue sedan into the gathering space in her basement, and totems of protection had been carefully placed on every windowsill and hung in every doorway. All that was left were the decorations.
Since it was the spring equinox gathering, Maurli wanted her home to be blooming with plant life. Over the past two weeks she had been administering a growth potion to all of her houseplants and even used it to cultivate new plants from seeds. Now her house was stuffed with more greenery than the garden section of a home depot: Sage, rosemary, and thyme crowded the hanging pots of her kitchen, her Livingroom was a jungle of bamboo and money trees, and the bathrooms were made delightfully aromatic with flowering vines and budding stalks. Every corner, every table, and every wall was overflowing with life. For most witches this would be enough, but after the Yule party last winter, Maurli knew she needed to step it up.
Yiressa had been the host for Yule and had used an unmelting glittering snow spell on the ceilings in her home, creating a stunning winter wonderland. The spell itself wasn’t that difficult, but that uppity broom-licker Yiressa hasn’t let anyone forget how good her party looked and was constantly asking Maurli how she was going to top it.
Well Maurli had found an article in one of last months issues of Bewitched Weekly and had turned her abode into a greenhouse to maximize the wow factor of the spell. The article was “DIY Glowing Houseplants” and when her guests came into her house, Maurli planned on shutting off all the electricity, and lighting her house with the soft glowing of the hundreds of plants strategically placed around the suburban home.
Maurli bustled into the kitchen, pulling the magazine clipping out from the spell book she shoved it into. She had everything she needed: beard of gnome, 2 teaspoons birchbark, a pinch of arrowroot, and 20 grams of overpriced dryad clippings she found at the Charmers Market. She mixed all the ingredients into a fine dust using her bullet blender before sifting the dust into a stone bowl. Maurli turned off all the lights before tossing a match into the mixture. A green glowing flame rose up within the bowl and Maurli chanted the spell, peering at the recipe on her counter.
“Paak'alo'ob Paak'alo'ob
Iluminan a kuxtal yéetel guían in beel
Brillar yéetel u páajtalil a concede a el
Igual u le k'áak'o’ brilla tin k'abo'ob!”
As she chanted, the fire burst out of the bowl into hundreds of small glowing orbs, flying to the plants spread about the house and melting into their leafy auras. When all the orbs found a host, the foliage began glowing, and Maurli knew she had made a mistake.
Every plant, from the lilies on the fireplace, to the ivy snaking through the halls, was not only glowing, they were FLASHING. Not a slow soft flashing either, but a bright strobing that assaulted Maurli’s eyes. Maurli dropped the stone bowl and put a hand up to shield her vision, her other hand snatching up her DIY instructions. Maybe the dryad clippings were actually ent clippings? she wondered in a panic. That son of a witch at the charmers market might have screwed her over. Maurli read through the article several times, trying to find any reason for the spell to have gone wrong.
“Merlin’s ass, it called for 2 tablespoons of birch bark, not 2 teaspoons” Maurli muttered bitterly, glaring at the failure around her. She wanted her decorations to be the talk of the coven, and with the way her house was lighting up like a will o’ wisp on basilisk juice, Maurli was sure it would be.
“Craaaa Craaaaa” came the squawking of the doorbell, interrupting Maurli’s brooding. Her coven sisters have arrived, and her house was as charming as the broken turn signal on Syv’s broom. There was no way Maurli was ever going to live this down, she needed to find a potion to fix this, fast.
She ripped through her pantry, her doorbell croaking urgently all the while. “Just a moment!” she shouted cheerily, clawing her way through boxes of wormwood crunch cereal and mason jars filled with sleep warding potions. After picking through the many bottles on the back shelf she came upon the one thing that may save her reputation with the Coven, a potion that can dilute the senses and lower expectations.
Quickly flipping through her phone, she selected a playlist with heavy bass and pumped it through her home speakers before she strode to the door with confidence, carrying a basket full of Vodka as the plants flashed in time with the music.
This was going to be a spring equinox to remember.

Nature-lover doesn't quite cover it...
I'd been warned of random encounters, monsters waiting to pounce from anywhere at any time, but not trees. There were dryads in the city, leafy humans mostly, lithe and small and spilling giggles. Summoned things, like myself, unnatural and strange but still human-ish.
This was no dryad. It hardly looked human, more a horrible horticultural spell gone wrong. Some mage that either transformed themselves into a monstrous abomination...or made one for fun. Yet it was beautiful, enchanting in a way.
The thing that grabbed me, I mean. Towering as high as any tree, he appeared one himself at first, but there was a face in the leaves. Fangs in the smile and the trunk was a chest, a torso with branches for arms, articulated twigs for fingers, all carved so sweetly of soft greens. Tangled in his vines, soft and dry as they were, there was no question of the impending danger. But I couldn't seem to care. That greenery tightened and tightened on my ankles, more snapped to snatch wrists and lift me higher and higher and still I stared. Smiling, I stared.
I'd not smelled flowers so sweet and the closer those vines pulled me toward a mouth near the size of my head the more I shivered for its promise. For the slick pink tongue hanging from lips too full, the bright purples of his eyes.
His, yes. At least equipped as one, a thing as slick and pink as his tongue hanging low and thick from where hips would be on a man...but who could know with plants.
Cool the tongue, stretching out to lick and taste my neck and cheek. As a too long finger teased my horns, another my hair, and yet another my tail.
He smiled and…
Mm, long as my hands those fangs. It had been ages since I felt fangs in my skin.
"What a peculiar flower you are," his voice sang, a breeze through leaves it sang.
While mine cooed, as it tends to do when I'm taken by something so pretty and new, "your flower...if you want me."
Shock flashed in deliciously deep grooves through his massive face and he pulled me closer. Enough to smell the syrup of his breath, "mine?"
"Mm-hmm," I was generally better at words, at flirting even, no matter the what I'd been faced with.
But there was more at play there. Something tickling deep and wet without touching. I tasted blood before realizing it mine, that I'd bit clean through my lip.
Slow, careful, his tongue as it caught it. And I learned his voice was sweeter when he moaned...
"A treat then, an offering from that grand and burning shell?" He asked, teasing under my armor with more vines. "Waiting to burn me while I play with you."
Soft, impossibly so, each vine coaxed gasped breaths as they dug.
"A treat, but not theirs," I promised, finding familiarity in the scent of him, the want of him. Hunger bubbling with it, I had to have him. Wriggling, I managed to touch the vine in my chestplate and urge its tip out and to my lips with a tease of my own. How sweet his breaths as I tasted it, rough and slow, running my tongue along all I could before meeting those brighter eyes, "yours, beautiful...I'm all yours."
Eyeing the dome behind me, the creature smiled and pulled me to the bark of his chest. Skin. Supple skin it was, grooved and delectably rough but warm and tender to the touch. As was the arm replacing every vine to hold me there while he turned and...well, he didn't walk or slither exactly.
It was more he allowed himself to be pulled into the woods by whatever his torso ended in—dug into the earth as it was.
While I enjoyed the ride, nestled in a scent suggesting a feast in my future...

Me looking at Leafy
Alright you’re going to be like that, then fine I’m going to cuddle this random oak tree I found. Since you want to leave me when I sneeze lol
Tumblr media
Leafy would be absolutely distraught…Before remembering that he’s literally one with nature. And that he could easily meld himself within the tree you’re hugging. He’s a dryad after all, so any tree you hug out of spite, you’d find his face smiling cheekily back at you.

Finally, I've gotten this list all done and typed! Not lying, this took me literal days to finish since I couldn't think of monsters for some girls and kept switching species around! Luckily, the people I've asked say this list is good, which at least gives me some hope that I made the right choices for these characters. I'm not gonna lie, I can't wait to make spec evo bios for these girls and go into the culture and worldbuilding for monster/non-human societies~! And I'm gonna remake my old Bios now that there are more characters and I have some new abilities for them~! But for now, hold on tight, because this AU Revamp is just getting started!

Hey! I saw your dryad girl Willow, and her design instantly kicked me out of the creative rut I've been in in regards to designing dryads in my own fantasy world. I drew like eight before I realized I should have asked if you're even okay with people taking inspiration from your designs. Should I change them? The main similarity is just the branch/leafy arms and three fingers but I feel like that's pretty iconic..
Hi! Of course I don't mind. On the contrary, I am glad that my characters and story can serve as a source of inspiration for others. There is nothing wrong with that.)

Profile
Height: 6’1” Age: 150 (appears 55) (season 4) Weight: 160lbs Eyes: Blue Blood: A+
Buttercup is a Dryad with fair, freckled skin, shiny, long blonde hair that is starting to turn white, and sparkly blue eyes.
During The Greatest Murder, she wears a long, flowy yellow dress with long, dropped sleeves. The dress features green ribbons around her torso and arms, resembling leafy vines. Her brown sandals also have ribbons that wrap up her legs with fake small green leaves. More vine-like ribbons wrap around her wrists and neck, and a flower crown of buttercups and white roses rests on her head.
As per her suspect appearance in The Greatest Murder, it is known that Buttercup is superstitious, eats popcorn, and knows ballroom dancing.
Powers and abilities
Buttercup is a Dryad (nature spirit). Her powers are nature-based and center around the Earth and its environment.
Her powers include, but are not limited to:
Chlorokinesis
Wood Manipulation
Plant Mimicry (Can temporarily turn into a tree or flower. Cannot sustain this form for too long, or else Buttercup will forget who she is and permanently become a tree/flower)
Plant Communication
Plant generation
Other abilities she has include, but are not limited to:
Extended lifespan (While not immortal, Buttercup lives longer than the human lifespan)
Superhuman strength
Superhuman speed
Superhuman stamina
Other facts about Buttercup’s magic:
Her descendants became some of the strongest nature mages. Fili is one of the strongest, even before SOMBRA experimented on him. While some of her descendants chose different forms of magic to practice, most stayed within the nature realm, given their bloodline’s connection to the Earth
Likewise, her direct descendants still carry Dryad genes even if they are dormant. It's why some of them can photosynthesize and have other plant-like traits
She doesn't eat plants (it is technically cannibalism), and her Dryad body allows her to get necessary nutrients from other food sources and sunlight
She usually grows flowers in her hair, typically buttercups, in various styles
She has a full Dryad form where her skin becomes wood, her hair flower petals, and swirling vine/leaf tattoos appear on her body
Synopsis
Buttercup is the co-owner of The Circus of Dream alongside her husband Gwaine. The two are from the Enchanted Isles, Gwaine having been born there while Buttercup had moved there several decades ago. They moved to the human realm shortly after getting married to join Cirque de Nuit and help protect the supernatural creatures still living there. They temporarily left the circus to start a family, and once their children were old enough, they all rejoined Cirque de Nuit.
When their children were fully grown, Buttercup and Gwaine began talking about an old idea of theirs: starting a permanent circus somewhere as a safe haven for the supernatural community. So, now that their children were old enough to care for themselves, the couple decided to pursue their dream and create the fittingly named “Circus of Dreams.” They chose to build it in Concordia, where Kilian and Notre were living and found the perfect location for the circus in Sinner’s End. A few performers from Cirque de Nuit, such as Manolo, followed them to Concordia to help build the new circus.
After living in Concordia and building their new circus for a few months, Buttercup first appeared in the story when Deacon Abbott was murdered while the performers were preparing to practice their acts. She, like the rest of the circus members, hated Deacon Abbott, and she told Isaac and Maddie how relieved she was that he was dead and would no longer terrorize her performers.
Buttercup maintained her innocence even after it was discovered that the victim had tried to attack her. Thankfully, the only damage Deacon Abbott did was destroy her flower crown, but still, Buttercup was scared for her and her performers’ safety. However, the circus would get a happy ending when the Deacon’s killer was arrested, and the crew could now safely continue working on getting everything ready for the circus’ grand opening.
Story Information
First appeared: The Greatest Murder
Trivia
She is named after the Buttercup flower, as all Dryads are named after things from nature
Buttercup loves growing her performers' favourite flowers in their rooms to welcome them back for a show. These include moonflowers for Argo, black roses for Kilian, irises for Notre, orchids for Manolo, etc.
Gwaine and her kids still work for Cirque de Nuit but have promised to visit their parents whenever the circus passes through Concordia
Her descendant, Quinn, looks a lot like her. People have often told Quinn that she takes after her great-grandmother. Fili also inherited some of Buttercup's genetics, but they’re not as physically prominent as they are in Quinn
