"Peng Pai" Mascot Design (Part 1)

Story Behind:

"Peng Pai", also known as the Paper media, is one of the most famous media group in China which not only has apps but also traditional publications. To celebrate its 7th year anniversary, Peng Pai started a public competition with the task of recreating their original mascots~a whale called Peng Peng and a seal called Paipai. We delivered ours including character design, color palette, blind boxes with customized roles, and products suggestions . Failed the very first round.

But, we had a lot of fun though.

When we looking back the past 2020, most flavor we taste is bitter. Like a double espresso in a dark brown color. Even though the coming 2021 may still keep the same brown color, we hope it may taste sweeter.

The Anser’s Journey

\

Story Behind:

“The Anser’s Journey” is an animation project which for MINtrust’s 10th Anniversary celebration. As the company’s spiritual icon, Anser(Bar-headed Goose) plays an important role in this animation. By telling a story of how bar-headed geese fly through different places in tough situations and survives from horrible weathers while finally fly over Himalayas, the client wants to encourage all employers with the ansers’ endurance, persistence, enthusiasm and team-work spirit. To achieve this goal, the designer combines the company’s business achievements, signature projects, charity events with nature and city scenes. Considering the illustration will apply on different layouts including both prints and screens, the designer created 8 scenes in bigger dimensions and higher resolutions than ordinary animation scenes. Here presents the post card and notebook interleaf version.

Growth Ring

Story Behind:

“Growth Ring” is a personal project which starts from a wedding invitation design. The designer created a board game map with their love story in order to remember the journey full of happiness, sadness, conflicts, and randomnesses. As time passing by, the map was enlarged like the growth of  tree annual rings.  With the two player’s effort, the game map will become a life map in the end. Let's roll the dice, partner!

Lesser Fullness 2020 Calendar

Story Behind: 2020 LF Calendar was a studio project. The whole idea behind this illustration is not only that we wanted to practice the so called 2.5D style (or parallax effect) but also wanted to remind our ambition of having our own "Lesser Fullness Design Building(or an art museum)". You can see each month has one floor scene with a schedule behind.

Trust me, we are nor half way there(the Covid-19 pandemic makes us work at home now), but we do have a graphic department with only one designer and a motion department in the same situation.  

The whole calendar pages are in postcard size (140mmx210mm) and produced by and sold on ziger.com.

2020 Happy Women's Day

\

Story Behind: It was a studio project to celebrate this year's international women's day. All the ideas were came up with a published guide book called "Gender-inclusive language" by UN. In this book, it provides many ways to help staffs "promote gender equality and eradicate gender bias".

\

Translation:

1. "Do Not Use Discriminatory Language"

(including “boyish girl”, "masculine woman", “able woman”...all these titles for girls at any ages when they make it.)

2. "When there is a in and out, there is no way out"

（There is always a saying——men should work outside and make money, while women should stay at home and take care of the family. This wrong idea leads to the wrong direction.）

3."Sex & Social gender"

(When children born, the sex is equal. But when they grow up, the genders are not. It was Eve who got the first apple and shared with Adam. But when they came out of the Eden and build up their own paradise, Eve can never reach those apples any more. )

4. "There is no 'help to' before doing chores."

(Men do the chores, but helping his wife or girlfriend do the chores.  )
