[ TOAD had entered the pipe to the second level, his eyes wandering around the dark place. Naturally transforming into his second form, Guidance. The form made less sound than the smaller one, taking a small stroll around the level to know the whole layout in case of a certain brute would appear out of nowhere and chase 'em. it was nice, in like a chill and cold kind of way. a few underground enemies he hadn't seen since he first played a Mario game. ]

i think its sad that boss fights in dd1 were very much "multiple characters have multiple moves that could deal ith this, there is a variety of ways/team comps you can use to beat this boss"

but dd2 is really "you need these characters with these skills and these items and this lair boss defeated if you want to reliably beat the boss"

dd2 continues to be the sequel that just took out a lot of player agency and choice

I'm finally playing the murder of sonic the hedgehog and for the most part it's delightful! I love everyone's costumes and varying levels of commitment to staying in character, hanging out with Tails and solving a murder mystery is so fun, the little mini heist with Rouge and Blaze was a treat, I adore my socially awkward mess of a character and their fixation on digging through trash cans, and of course killing Sonic was the funniest April fools joke of all time. But this last (please let it be the last) ring collection level is too hard! 85 rings? Why is there so much happening on the screen at the same time? I've died so many times. I've gotten to the end only to have that stupid not enough rings message flash at me. I'm losing my mind. They took away my save button. I'd been so in the zone mystery wise I hadn't remembered to save since the saloon car, I have to keep trying until I finish it.
