Why This Rocks: ✨ Education Boost: Libraries = silent game-changers for students and lifelong learners. ✨ Sustainability Goals: Solar lights cut costs and carbon footprints. ✨ Transparent Spending: MLA funds actually building things people need? We stan.
Colonel Rathore’s Development Card: From army hero to BJP’s go-getter MLA, he’s all about:

The Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library in Budapest #fszek #heritagelibrary...
youtube
The Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library in Budapest is like the love child of a palace and a bookworm’s dream. Imagine stepping into a neo-baroque mansion where chandeliers light up not ballroom dancers, but stacks of books. You’re in the Wenckheim Palace, where reading is treated like royalty—literally. Named after Ervin Szabó, a guy who loved books so much he decided to modernize Hungary's entire library system, this place feels like stepping into a period drama, except instead of secret love letters, people are emailing PDFs.
Now, amidst the library’s historic splendor, there's a statue by Lugossy Mária. Her sculptures are known for capturing the human condition... or at least how humans feel after hours of reading in those majestic, velvet-lined rooms—deeply moved, a bit overwhelmed, and possibly needing a coffee. It’s a fitting modern touch in this palace of words, like having a deep philosophical discussion in a room full of chandeliers: classy, but with a hint of existential crisis.

Australian Christian Lobby's Wendy Francis is retiring
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/australian-christian-lobbys-wendy-francis-is-retiring/
Australian Christian Lobby's Wendy Francis is retiring
Tumblr media
The Australian Christian Lobby’s Wendy Francis has announced she’s retiring from the right-wing religious group.
The Queenslander joined the Australian Christian Lobby in 2010, and has been the organisation’s National Director of Politics.
In a video announcement on Sunday, ACL Executive Director Michelle Pearse joined Wendy as she announced she was retiring from the role to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren.
Wendy’s retirement comes after the conservative Christian campaigner has spent over a decade lobbying against every LGBTQIA+ reform and issue she could find, including same-sex marriage, same-sex parenting, safe sex campaigns, and trans equality.
Wendy Francis’ Greatest Hits, 2010-2024
In 2010, Wendy Francis ran as a candidate for the anti-LGBTQIA+ political party Family First.
During that campaign, Wendy infamously declared “legitimising gay marriage is like legalising child abuse,” later apologising for by standing by the spray.
In 2011, she made national headlines after she led a campaign demanding ad company Adshel remove advertisements in a Queensland safe sex campaign, Rip & Roll, from public view.
Adshel pulled the ads, but a much bigger outcry followed. The ads were reinstated after Adshel found – and Wendy Francis disclosed – the complaints were “coordinated”.
In Queensland, Wendy Francis has lobbied against reforms like same-sex adoption – comparing same-sex parenting to the Stolen Generation – and supported a ban on same-sex surrogacy.
More recently, Wendy has moved on to opposing trans rights, criticising “crazy gender ideology” [sic] and gender-affirming healthcare.
Wendy has called for the cancellation of all-ages Drag Storytime events, falsely claiming they turn children trans.
She has described public drag performances as “adult entertainment” and “pornography”.
Earlier this year, Wendy Francis claimed she had called the police on Brisbane’s long-running community event Balls Out Bingo. She falsely claimed the drag event’s resident “ball boys” are “young children” when they are, in fact, adult rugby players.
Also recently, Wendy Francis has tried to import the US book-banning craze, slamming Australia’s libraries for stocking inclusive books.
Last year, she launched a competition calling on librarygoers to search shelves for “inappropriate” children’s books.
By May, Wendy announced she had found one, the DC Comics book, The DC Book of Pride. Wendy fumed that the “sexually explicit” book celebrated and portrayed DC’s queer superheroes in a positive light.

"   while i do support what joja's trying to do in town, i actually don't support the concept of corporate merchandise   —   i actually think a company's product, and their work should speak for itself without enlisting human billboards.   "   conrad explained, feeling like he made perfect sense and sounded really smart, possibly even brilliant. maybe this was his in to share some of his ideas with someone other than the librarygoers!   "   do you think you could get me a meeting with your manager? i have some ideas i want him to bring to the big wigs about their role here in the valley.   "
Tumblr media
"I'm not the medical sort of doctor, but I'm pretty sure smoking actual cigarettes is more unhealthy, Conrad," Jai responds in a slow drawl, seemingly unbothered by the other's silly refusal to take on a prized Joja item. His foot taps on the ground impatiently, his grip tightening on the bag. His other hand holds the vape and he scrutinizes it closely, looking at the label, the colour, and bringing it to his nose in a little sniff. He lowers it and looks back at Conrad.
"You sure you don't want it? It could be a souvenir... You could put it on your bookshelf, maybe? It's really cool if you ignore the smoking part of it."
