What made you switch from the dangler to the Mickey? Are there any benefits? Pros? Cons? Just curious. Thank you so much for answering!
i like the mic-key button better since its low profile and its easy to hide under clothing, its also less likely to get caught on anything if im getting undressed or anything. cons could be if you use it to drain (because of my gastroparesis i gotta drain thru my g sometimes to avoid nausea and vomiting) that can be a little more difficult if there's anything chunky in ur stomach, but it still works for that sometimes i just gotta clench my stomach a lil if its stuck at a clog lol
overall i like that its so much easier to hide and doesn't have such a big bump under my shirt if its snug, i struggled a bit with how i looked when i first got it but after switching to the button i feel better since it feels more like a piercing than a tube extending out of my body xD

Reminder! Go to sleep~
This fic took me waaay more than I like to admit.
People in this fic: DreamWasTaken and GeorgeNotFound
(BadBoyHalo and SapNap are in the background)
Warning! This fanfiction was wrote respecting boundaries! This is not a ship post, i wrote this bc they are good friends caring for eachother!
Enjoy~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dream had a bad sleeping schedule, it wasn't a secret, but editing in the middle of the night was... easier? Better? He didn't really know... but it was the only time he edited. Meaning that sleep was often skipped or recovered during the day.
But we all know that the lack of sleep brings mood swings, and poor Dream was in the middle of one.
He and George were supposed to start streaming in about fifteen minutes,  but George wasn't dumb, he had realized Dream was acting differently.
"Dream? Are you sure you want to stream?" George spoke to his mic, waiting for a response from the empty headphones laid on top of his head.
"Of course I do! Why do you ask- What's the point of that question?" He was acting defensive and irritable towards the smallest things, "I don't know...You seem tired" He was also spacing out, Geroge could tell he lacked sleep, he knew him too well.
"Oh George- I'm fine ok?! Don't worry about me-"
User has joined the call
"Oh Bad! Please help me convince Dream to not stream! He's probably sitting on three hours of sleep!" " Only three hours?"
BadBoyHalo proceeded to enter big bro mode and tell off Dream about sleeping waaay less then he needed to, getting Dream to slowly give up.
"Fine fine I won't stream!... I'll just post on Twitter why I won't... God my subs are going to hate me..." "That's not true Dream! They'll understand, now go to sleep, ill call you tomorrow"
As George and BadBoy told Dream goodnight, George hit the live button. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dream was feeling down: His best friends just shooed him away and he was feeling lonely...
His cat noticed his bad mood and jumped onto his lap, he thought about laying in bed, but since the cat was here now, he wasn't going to move.
George was having a webcam steam, he, SapNap and BadBoy were in their world messing around.
Without him
He wasn't angry... He was just...sad? Left out? ...Something like that
As he was listening to the laughter of his friends, a donation came through, and the text to speech started: Hi George, first time donating and catching a stream, why is Dream not streaming? Did something happen?
George looked over at his second monitor and read the donation again in his head while making sure he didn't die by the zombie that approached him.
"Dream is not here because he didn't sleep a lot recently so I told him to go to sleep. Nothing happened, don't worry. He's my best friend and I can tell when he's tired. Hopefully, he'll join us next stream." He focused on turning the lava into obsidian, placing and picking up water without falling into the deadly liquid. "I'm..." he spaced out for a couple of seconds "I'm aware that streams without Dream are a bit more boring, but I prefer that he's well-rested and in a good mood than having him on stream sounding half asleep. Don't worry, after the stream ill call him and check up on him"
The other two who were whispering in the background didn't miss the chance to tease George.
"Oh! So you think we are not as "entertaining" as Dream huh George?!" SapNap spat out fake-annoyed, BadBoyHalo jumped on the tease-train too.
"Of course he would SapNap! If you had a Minecraft boyfriend too, you would find him more fun than us!"
George started studdering and tried to defend himself since also the chat now was spamming things like "Minecraft Boyfriend! Lol" or "Omg I ship it!!" and "Don't deny it, George, we know!". Making it more difficult for the British streamer.
Dream chuckled at the hilarious situation while caressing the small animal who was enjoying the warmth in his lap.
The chat didn't seem to be angry about the fact that he wasn't there so he decided to open twitter and see how his tweet was doing.
The replies we're all positive and supportive of his decision, the couple of toxic replies were automatically ignored by him since he was low-key used to them, he smiled at how his followers where so nice and worried about his health, also he giggled at the funny profile pictures and names some of the accounts had.
He decided to lay in bed and continue to watch the stream from his phone, his cat jumped off his lap and followed him.
~~~~~~~~~
The stream went on for another two hours but Dream fell asleep somewhere in between, he knew this of course by the fact that the ring coming from both his electronic devices woke him up.
He struggled to find his phone since he dropped it somewhere when he fell asleep and his earbuds were uncomfortably tangled, but he managed to pick up the call coming from George in time.
"Hello?"
"Geez, took you long enough to answer, I was about to give up... Wait- were you sleeping?"
"Yeah... I fell asleep while watching your stream..." he yawned and proceeded to hug the pillow lying next to him.
"You fell asleep while watching the stream?! BadBoy and SapNap were continuously screaming!" He sounded impressed, Dream wasn't at all.
"I guess I was very tired" he heard George's footsteps as he spoke
"You do sound tired-... You should stop pulling all-nighters just to edit, you don't have a deadline yknow" From the other end, two beeps made the boy react with an "Oh finally..."
"What are you doing?"
"Instant noodles" The sound of pouring water and something being ripped could be heard in the background " I'm hungry"
"Instant noo- You had those for lunch too!"
"Mhf-Sho what? Shey'r good" George took a munch on his pasta and spoke with his mouth full "Sthey arhe eashy to make ansh shtey are scheaps"
Dream laughed at how barely comprehensible his words were, and at how lazy George was. He knew how to cook simple stuff, yet he always "couldn't be bothered" or was "too tired" to cook actual food.
They chatted and laughed for a while, Dream laying comfortably on his bed and George happily eating his noodles. A moment of silence fell.
"Hey Dream?"
He hummed in reply
"I'm sorry for forcing you to not stream... But you sounded tired and... I didn't mean to make it sound like we were excluding you..." Dream smiled at how apologetic and sad his friend sounded.
"Don't worry, I figured you were doing it for me..."
Another silence.
"Hey George?"
It was his time to hum now.
"Thank you... "
"For what?"
"For everything you do for me"
"I'm just doing the same thing you do for me... You always tell me to go to bed and... You care about my died more than I do" Dream giggled.
"If someone should be thanking someone it should be me, thank you Dream for all the things you do for me... Even if you always kill me in the videos"
The moment was broken by Dream cockiness and they ended up laughing hard... Well, George was laughing, Dream was straight up impersonating a kettle, wheezing as he usually did.
"Ah... My stomach hurts!"
"Haha... Same!... Oh God..."
They gave each other a minute to calm down before going back to talking
"Wait- it is late for you Dream! Go to bed you idiot!"
"But I enjoy talking to youuu " he whined, he didn't want to sleep
"Same, but we can talk tomorrow ok? Just call me when you wake up, ok?
He emitted a sad noise George took as a "yes"
"Good night Dream, love you!"
He always said it off-camera, yet he never wanted to say it when they were recording. He still didn't understand why.
"...good night George, love you too"
But Dream appreciated him anyway.

sweet as honey
Tumblr media
words: 3470
summary: an easy mission calls for desperate measures when almost caught. whiskey doesn’t mind the outcome.
warnings: no smut but intense kiss and longing?? also, this is my first time writing Whiskey so that’s a warning in on itself.
“You should be happy that they’re letting you help with the mission,” Ginger rolls her eyes at you. You can hear the sort of distant envy in your friend’s voice from where she lays on your bed.
“I don’t want to do this,” you sigh, fingers dragging up your arm to fix the strap of your dress that doesn’t want to stay on your shoulder. “I’m intelligence. We’re intelligence.” Your reflection in the mirror shows your nerves as you move to fix your hair for the seventh time since Ginger had helped you style it.
“We can be more,” she sighs, taking her eyes off the spinning ceiling fan to meet your own waiting gaze. “Honey and Ginger,” she sort of smiles. The thought is sweet.
“That sounds like half a tea recipe,” you grin back, moving to fall back on your bed beside her. The black silk of your dress is smooth against your skin. “I think you should be the one in the field,” you mumble, knowing that she would do anything to be going to the event that you were being forced to attend.
“Jack wanted you,” she says, glancing at you. You know she’s trying to read you, trying to gauge your reaction. You don’t like being profiled.
“Whiskey,” you begin, losing your train of thought as soon as the agent enters your mind. “He just likes to push my buttons. He only wants to torment me in person. Just hearing my frustration and annoyance isn’t enough to get him off anymore.” Ginger laughs at that, you can feel her shoulders rising and falling against your own. You let out a huff of air, fighting a grin that threatens to overtake your features. “You know I’m right!”
She wipes at her eyes but nods. “Don’t have too much fun without me,” Ginger concedes.
“Never,” you promise, bring your right arm up and outstretching your pinky in her direction. She quickly takes your little finger in her own.
A sudden beep drew your attention away. “I think Whiskey is here,” you sigh. “I don’t understand why he couldn’t just go by himself,” you say. Ginger sat up and looked at you.
“He needs someone with technical expertise and your code,” Ginger supplied. “A date is inconspicuous for an event like this.” You sat up to strap your heels and to run your hands through your hair one last time. Your phone beeps again. You glare at the device as if it had offended you, wanting more than anything to direct your anger at Jack Daniels.
“I can’t stand him,” you roll your eyes. “I guess you can wait up here if you want,” you tell her before grabbing your bag and slipping your phone into, not bothering to answer your partner.
“Oh, I will be. I can’t wait to hear all about it,” she smiles, “Do you still have that wine that we had the other weekend?”
“It’s in the fridge,” you move to grab your keys and open the door. “You better not fall asleep!”
“I won’t! I can’t wait to hear all about it.” Ginger teases, taking a wine glass down from one of your cabinets.
You close the door behind you and hurry to the entrance where you know Jack is waiting. You have to lift up the long dress as you make your way down the small staircase at the front of your building. “Well, don’t you look like a million dollars.” His southern drawl nearly makes you swoon as it always does when you hear it while helping him during his missions. Then you remember who the sweet voice belongs to and just get into his car. You buckle up and choose to not dignify him with a reply. “I’m just wondering where your weapon is, Hon?” You realize that he’s watching you, eyes tracing every curve of your body. You want to move to cover yourself but don’t want him to give him the satisfaction.
“It’s Honey,” you correct, managing to get it out while maintaining eye contact with the older man. It’s easier to confront him when there are miles between you and the protection from behind your screen. His eyes seem to sparkle as he looks you over again. “I don’t have a weapon,” you shrug. You hear a small scoff before he begins to drive. “I’m intel,” you point out. “If you wanted backup you should have asked Tequila to be your date instead,” you cross your arms over your chest finally giving in to that insecure part of you that screams to hide from him.
“Where’s the fun in that?” His gaze never leaves the road as he speaks. “Not when I can have such a beautiful woman on my arm.” You narrow your eyes at him, expecting a teasing note in his voice or even a snide remark but instead find nothing.
“Just get me into the office and let me work in peace,” you want to sound exasperated but can’t even find a hint of irritation in your own voice. You study him as he moves the car effortlessly through the traffic that decorates the road.
“I can do that,” he nods and gives you a small smirk. “Think we might even have enough time for a dance, Honey.” The way he says your alias nearly makes you shiver. The mics that the Statesman have are good but hearing his voice in person is something out of this reality.
“Don’t say my name like that,” you sigh. It’s not even your real name yet it still seems to do something to you, warms your insides pleasantly. You might just die if he ever said your real name. You can barely handle something as simple as a codename.
“Like what?” You hear the teasing in his voice and somehow that makes you feel like your back behind your screen with Ginger instead of right beside him. It calms your nerves, allows you to ground yourself imagining being back at your station.
“Like it’s something so filthy,” you turn away from him, unable to face the agent.
“Babydoll, you have no idea just how filthy I can sound,” he chuckles quietly. You bite your tongue. You know it’s not good to encourage him. You know if you don’t respond he’ll grow bored.
The rest of the ride is silent. It’s a long hour of nothingness.
As you pull up to the estate you feel your eyes go wide. Whiskey begins to spout out facts he knows about the architecture but you zone him out. It’s beautiful and you just want to take it in. You marvel at the golden detail on the building as he slows to a stop. Someone on the valet team immediately opens the door for you and offers their hand. You take it and step out into the light, not even noticing when Jack takes his place by your side. “If I would have known this was all it took to shut you up I would have taken you someplace nice before,” his hand is warm as it touches the small of your back. You aren’t sure if it’s his voice or his warmth that snaps you out of whatever captivated you.
“You’re the one who’s always talking, Cowboy,” you remind, wanting nothing more than to stomp your heel onto his foot. Instead, you smile as staff open the doors for you. “What is this?” you ask him. There are more people inside and your eyes travel from one beautiful dress to the next. Suddenly, you feel very undressed. As if sensing your inner thoughts Jack’s fingers trace small circles on the exposed skin of your back, slipping just under where the low cut fabric begins, making you feel somehow more beautiful with the small action.
“Gala,” he supplies, withdrawing his fingers to trace just the skin that the dress reveals to him. “That official and his wife hold it every year. Orchestra and all,” he mumbles, subtly pulling you closer to him as you make your way into the hall.
“We need to get to the office,” you whisper, looking around to see if anyone was staring at either of you.
“What’s the rush, Sugar?” His lips brush your hair when he leans in close. You shy away when the smell of his cologne hits your nose. He smells heavenly and it nearly makes you dizzy. “I was thinking we could have some champagne, maybe even dance to a few songs…” he trails off but you cut him off before he can even finish any other thought.
“I don’t want to be here any longer than I have to,” you breathe out. You want more than anything to be home with your best friend, drinking pink wine and talking about the newest book or tv show that you both binged.
“You got it, Honey.” There’s something in how he says it that you know it’s not meant as his nickname for you, but rather just your codename. You aren’t sure whether to feel ecstatic or disappointed that he isn’t teasing you anymore, but the feeling that accompanies this realization sinks through your skin and into your bones. Whiskey coaxes you out of it as he gently guides you through the mass of people and through the many hallways that make up the building. The art that hangs on the walls isn’t enough to distract you from the pounding in your chest as you grow closer and closer to the office. He pushes open the door and lets you inside. The office is neat and clean, devoid of any personal touches that your workspaces has. A single picture frame of the official and his wife is placed on the desk and your eyes nearly pass over it without a second thought. You look away from the couple and boot up the laptop that lay on the desk.
“This shouldn’t take long,” you mumble, body in almost autopilot as you bring your flash drive out from your purse. Your fingers dance across the keyboard swiftly as the code you designed begins to make a door for you to access the contents on the official’s computer. You code alongside it to make the process go faster, to keep the traces of you invisible. Whiskey stands guard at the door and lets you work in silence. You appreciate it because the quiet helps you focus on the task at hand.
“Now, Angel,” Whiskey suddenly shuts the door and crosses the room in a few quick strides. You barely glance at him. “I don’t mean to alarm you, but there appears to be someone coming.” Your heart seems to stop at his words. You look between him and the door, panic setting your every capillary on fire. Your program isn’t done, and your mind can’t settle on any one particular thought. You aren’t supposed to be in the field. You didn’t want to be there in the first place. You almost wanted to cry.
“Jack,” you finally whimper, looking up at him from where you sit in the chair, teary-eyed and nearly begging for something you aren’t sure of. Your vocal cords feel paralyzed, his name the only syllable they’ll allow out.
“Hey,” he says softly, pulling you up from the chair and into his arms. “I promise I won’t let anything bad happen to you.” You nod, gripping on to the front of his jacket. “Do you trust me?” he asks quietly.
You nod because you do.
Whiskey suddenly pushes you so you’re sitting on the large mahogany desk, he steps in between your parted legs until your hips are pressed tightly together. The shock of it all sends a jolt through you. His lips crash into yours and you gasp into the harsh kiss. He’s got a hand in your hair and he’s guiding your movements. His other hand is gripping and grabbing at anything bit of you that you let him, which is all of you. You aren’t sure if your insufferable strap slides down your shoulder or if Jack has dragged it down himself as he explores your body. Your legs wrap around him in a desperate attempt to get him closer, to feel more of him. He makes a low sound in the back of his throat that you almost miss as he finally lets you breathe. You try to chase his mouth as he leans away. He’s looking at you, warm bourbon eyes taking in the sight of your shuddering and heaving chest, plump lips, and cloudy gaze. He presses deeply into you to make sure you feel all of him, grip nearly bruising when he kisses you again. He pushes your leg higher on his waist and suddenly, he’s pushing your dress up. You lose yourself in the feeling of his hands on your bare thighs, blunt nails digging into the soft skin before he slides them further and further up. “So fuckin pretty,” he mumbles against your lips and you melt.
You’re on fire—feel like you're actually burning—as you drown in him. He overtakes all your senses and just claims you as his. His lips are on your neck when someone finally clears their throat. You hadn’t even heard the door open. You’re breathless as you turn to look at the guard that stares pointedly at you.
“Oh I’m sorry,” his accent is heavy as he tries to break from you but your grip on him keeps him close. You hide in his neck as he talks. “Are we not supposed to be in here? My wife and I just wanted a little privacy. This just happened to be the room we stumbled upon,” The word ‘wife’ rings in your ears.
“No, you’re not,” is the tired reply. You feel Jack’s hands trail up and down your back in efforts to soothe you. You’re wound up in more ways than one. “How’d you two get in here?”
“It was open,” Whiskey laughs and the sound makes you feel a bit better. You can feel the guard’s eyes on you which makes you shudder into your partner. Jack gently fixes the strap of your dress and helps you down off the desk. “I’m sorry about the trouble we caused,” he takes your hand in his own and brings you into his side. Your free hand grabs onto his arm as you stay close to him. “Isn’t that right, Honey?” he grins at you, letting your codename slip, showing you how relaxed he really was.
“Right,” you nod, pressing your cheek into his shoulder. His thumb rubs slow circles into your hand. “Can we go?” you look up at Whiskey and shyly bite your lip, trying to amplify the innocent look you know men love. “Home, I mean. To finish what we started?” You see Whiskey’s eyes go wide at your words and the guard in the room seems just as shocked to hear them. You find it’s easy to slip into the role of adoring wife.
“You drive me crazy, Hon,” Whiskey sighs and lets go of your hand. You watch him pull out his wallet and bring out a wad of bills. “For your trouble,” Jack offers them to the guard. The man takes the money skeptically but doesn’t seem to mind the large amount that Whiskey gave him. “You wouldn’t mind giving me the directions to the entrance… You see, I was a bit distracted.” His eyes are on you and you revel in the attention he gives. You feel like some sort of goddess under his heated gaze.
“Right then left. Have a nice evening,” the guard opens the door for you and motions for you to get out of the office. He doesn’t even bother to check if things are misplaced or missing. It really does seem like a clandestine meeting between two lovers who couldn’t keep their hands off one another.
“I plan on it,” a small grin works its way onto his face as he holds out his hand for you to take. You slip your hand in his, intertwining your fingers together as if you were old lovers, almost instinctively like you had done this hundreds of times. His hand is warm in yours and you cling to him.
“Jack,” you whisper when you know the guard is out of earshot. He hums in response. “I didn’t grab the flash drive,” the panic has edged its way back into your voice but Whiskey doesn’t seem concerned about it at all. You might have just compromised his mission and he doesn’t seem to care. “Jack,” you whisper again, this time squeezing his hand, wondering if you had his full attention.
Suddenly he stops and takes both your hand in his. “Has anyone ever told you that you worry too much Darlin’?” You feel him pressing your flash drive into the palm of your hand, hiding it from any wandering eyes. Feeling the familiar object settles your nerves and you let go of his hands to put it back in your purse, feeling as if it wasn’t stashed away someone would know just what you were up to. “The door should be there for you to work your magic on when you get back.” The way he’s looking at you makes your heart pound against your ribcage.
“How’d you do it?” you look away from his intense stare and take a few steps forward and he follows your lead.
“Quick fingers,” he grins. “Maybe I could show you sometime.” You instantly flush at his words as you remember the way his hands felt when were inching up your inner thigh.
“Why don’t you just take me home,” you roll your eyes at him.
“Gladly,” Whiskey winks, voice dropping lowly as he leans close, hand dropping to the small of your back, fingers dipping just below the fabric of your dress like before.
“Not like that,” you groan but his touch makes you shiver despite yourself.
“I could always just come up when I drop you off,” his voice is husky and you find you nearly drown in his honey-sweet drawl. Your mind tempts you with exquisite fantasies of Whiskey in bed. The way Angel would sound groaned into your ear. You shake the thoughts away.
“Ginger is waiting for me,” you tell him, almost missing the way his cocky grin drops slightly. Had he wanted to take you home the way he teased?
“Better get you home then.” You feel his absence when he leaves to talk to the valet. You text Ginger to have a glass of wine waiting for you. You might need the rest of the bottle as you try to understand the events that happened this evening. Before long Whiskey’s ushering you into his passenger seat, leaning over you and exposing the long column of his neck as he buckles you in. “Ready, Sunshine?”
Your tongue feels stuck to the roof of your mouth as you imagine the taste of him. You want more than anything to just lick him from his collarbone to just below his jaw. You can’t meet his eyes when you nod to him, embarrassed that your own thoughts would betray you when it came to the agent. You could barely stand him and yet you imagine what would have happened had the guard not interrupted you.
He’s pulling the car out of the estate, away from your first mission and you can’t help the sigh of relief that escapes you. If Jack even hears you, he chooses not to say anything about it. The car ride back is faster as there is less traffic and nice enough for the windows to be rolled down. You remain quiet as the wind whips your hair back, enjoying the breeze and the way the streetlights blur past you.
Whiskey doesn’t say much either. He remains somewhere in that far away world that he goes to when there’s something on his mind. You aren’t sure what to say as your thoughts eat away at you bit by bit. By the time that you finally think of something, he’s pulling up to your entrance, car idling as neither of you move. The silence becomes nearly unbearable and the heat in his eyes impossible to ignore when he leans in close.
He wants to kiss you again.
The part that frightens you the most is how much you crave to close the distance between you, how much your body just begs you to press your lips against his. You take a deep breath.
“Goodnight, Jack,” you whisper, reaching for the handle because God, you have to put more space and miles and maybe even a screen between you two.
He doesn’t seem surprised and he quietly laughs when he leans away. “Goodnight, Angel.”

Tumblr media
Pairing: Jimin x Reader // Gaming!AU
Genre: Smut & a dash of humor
Word Count: 5k

Parts: 01 || 02 || 03
A/N: oh man, i can’t believe this is showing its light again either
[10:22:05 PM] erectchim: um. who are you
[10:22:13 PM] seokjinsaga: has left the server.
It starts with a swarm of messages from unrecognizable usernames, one stranger flooding after another. You get a sudden impulse to turn back and explain to the other players that you made a typo in the server name, admitting it is all a mistake, but you freeze when your cursor hovers over the chat bar. All you have to do is exit the game but you choose not to and surprisingly, you hold no regrets.
[10:22:20 PM] erectchim: this is a private server
[10:22:29 PM] erectchim: how did you get in here?
[10:22:48 PM] moonmoon (you): what the hell
[10:25:32 PM] erectchim: what kind of dumb ign is moonmoon
You freeze and ponder the bombardment of messages, roaming the snowy map in hopes of your friend showing up in the server. You remain silent for the most part, allowing their messages to build upon one another as you wander from cabin to hut in the game. A part of you hopes your friend makes the same typo you have to hop in and carry the lead- she doesn’t and she is the one who has dragged you to play this vapid game in the first place. The surrounding players slip from your mind until that same user addresses you again.
[10:25:32 PM] erectchim: wait, moonmoon
[10:25:32 PM] erectchim: what are you, twelve?
[10:25:32 PM] moonmoon: Excuse me?
[10:25:32 PM] moonmoon: Ur one to talk with an ign called erectchim
The moment you reply to “erectchim” the other competitors jump into the convo, each one inquiring you on your identity.
[10:37:02 PM] goldenkook: who the fuck are you?
[10:37:32 PM] minGenius: What the hell, I thought this was a private server.
[10:38:00 PM] Taetosterone: hey, add me!
[10:38:02 PM] rapjoon: has left the server.
[10:38:09 PM] minGenius: has left the server.
[10:38:26 PM] Taetosterone: i still want you to add me
[10:38:29 PM] goldenkook: has left the server.
[10:38:30 PM] Taetosterone: has sent you a friend request.
[10:38:34 PM] Taetosterone: has invited you to join the guild ‘penetration station.’
[10:38:45 PM] Taetosterone: has left the server.
You are rendered speechless as you enter the towering, run-down building as a safety net, the bright crimson of the number zero on the top of the screen to indicate you have no kills; however, you have gained seven deaths from the opposing team within such a short amount of time. You guide your character through the facility and the room dims up when you pass the front office. You feel like you found the safe spot in there game, a standstill where no competitors can find you, but the circuit within quickly breaks and the whole hallway begins to flicker dull, yellow beams. You pan the field view to the left and find another player with the username “erectchim” twirling above its hooded head with a glock in hand. You glide your cursor on top of his avatar, right clicking his profile to have another sheer window open on the side, revealing his divine statistics. You notice he is inspecting your empty profile as well from the lack of motion in his character. About to comment on how long he has been wasting daylight on such a game, something else catches your eye.
[10:40:12 PM] moonmoon: I thought ur ign was horrible but what the fuck is a penetration station
[10:40:22 PM] erectchim: i’m glad you asked
[10:40:30 PM] erectchim: it’s a closed guild filled with a couple of the top players in this game
[10:40:44 PM] moonmoon: So why the fuck did i get an invite
[10:40:49 PM] erectchim: …
[10:40:58 PM] moonmoon: From taetosterone
[10:41:16 PM] erectchim: delete it
Your eyes roam across his two messages over and over while you wonder what would happen if you committed the opposite of his request. It isn’t like you are tied down to this game forever and your friend is not even in the same server as you. Of course you have to attempt your own definition of fun.
[10:41:55 PM] moonmoon: has joined the guild ‘penetration station!’
[10:42:04 PM] erectchim: i am going to fucking kill you
By then you no longer care that you are pestering “erectchim” because his reactions always make you cackle, brightening your night completely. He constantly shadows your jumpy avatar that has no armor whatsoever to protect its health, stabbing the incoming enemies that cross your path for the sole purpose of protecting his guild’s reputation. His patience runs low the second your character falls into the white blankets of your seventeenth death.
[11:00:11 PM] erectchim: you fucking suck at this game leave our guild you kid
[11:00:32 PM] moonmoon: Im not a fucking kid
[11:00:37 PM] erectchim: you sure know how to act like one
[11:00:56 PM] erectchim: hit your command key
[11:00:59 PM] moonmoon: Why?
[11:01:04 PM] erectchim: to turn on your mic
Is he joking? He wants to hear your voice to confirm that you are not a nettlesome child?
[11:03:57 PM] erectchim: hello? turn on your mic
[11:05:29 PM] moonmoon: I ran out of ammo
[11:05:36 PM]  erectchim: what a shame. how about you turn on your mic now?
[11:05:42 PM] moonmoon: Fuck off and shut up
[11:05:54 PM]  erectchim: what was that?
Aware that he would drag this on for the rest of the match until you fulfill his request, you hit the command key to switch on your mic. He hears you clear your throat as you brace for his reaction. “I said shut up!”
His reaction is instantaneous, pure shock striking him down to the core as you toss his expectations down the drain. He takes a few seconds to comprehend the sound of your voice, tired eyes widening and jaw dropping.
[11:06:07 PM]  erectchim: holy shit
[11:06:11 PM]  erectchim: you’re a chick?
[11:06:58 PM] moonmoon: Ur turn, turn on ur mic now
[11:07:09 PM] erectchim: you’d have to add me on skype for that ;)
[11:07:14 PM] erectchim: @parkjxmn.95
You could turn down his proposition and shut off your laptop to call it a night, but there is something coasting your mind to add this alluring stranger back. Unexpectedly, you do and that is only the intro to each other’s game.
[11:07:36 PM] moonmoon: Fine
You hesitantly switch windows to Skype, messages from your cousin swamping you incomings. Leaving them unread, you hit the add button, typing his user one by one until his name pops up along with other similarities. “parkjxmn.95: Park Chimchim.”
Snapping the grey button to send a request, he accepts it within an instant as if he was waiting for your invitation the entire time. You inch forward in the cushions of your seat when you see a box with a reflection of your face appear, mimicking every movement- “Park Chimchim is requesting to video call…”
You whisper to yourself, a frown ghosting upon your face. “You have to be fucking kidding me.”
You slam your hand on the space bar in expectations of declining the call, but the automatic select is on that daring green button and causes your microphone to jitter on, white light of the webcam flicker to work, and reveals the features of your face that is being illuminated by your only source of light: the computer screen.
He sits upon his comfortable throne, body wrapping in a maroon blanket and a black tee draping upon his body. Taking a small sip of water, his eyes fall onto the blinding monitor and the moment you accept the call, he chokes and slams the glass down, hand flying to his mouth to shield his harsh coughs.
“Um,” you observe his figure that is clearly in disposition, “are you okay?”
“Yeah,” he says in between rough hacks, “I- This was uncalled for.”
You giggle and raise the volume on your computer so he can be more audible. “Why? You’re the one who called me.”
“I know, it’s just that I- you’re really freaking pretty,” he admits, softly pounding on his chest. “Wow, and you have nice lips.”
The corners of your lips tug into a slim smile, his flustered behavior emitting a small fit of laughter from you. He props his chin in his palm, eyes gazing at the screen as you mirror that same action to take in his appearance. His washed out blonde hair is like a plush made of golden feathers, eyes crinkling to two crescent moons because he has the look of regale on his face, and chiseled features perfect to the core as if he is sculpted by a Renaissance artist.
He watches you take a deep breath and exhale, the gust blowing a few strands of hair away from your face where a faint pout is beginning to bloom. He catches himself staring, shuddering his body to lean back in his seat. “Ah, I’m Jimin.”
“Y/N,” you let out with a quirk of your lips, “it’s nice to, uh, meet you…?”
“It didn’t seem like it earlier in game,” he jests and drags every fraction of his willpower to hold back his noteworthy remarks.
“Well my bad, you’re the one who mocked my username.”
He chuckles and switches the window back to the FPS, carrying the conversation. “I’m sorry you made the stupid choice of moonmoon. Now get back on the game, I’m going to restart our server.”
“Fine-” you drag your mouse to return to the channel- “and I thought I was only going to play this game once.”
“Why?” He asks and you see him nudge your avatar with its glock.
You close his avatar window and begin to search for any sort of exit within the facility, the flickering lights beginning to give you an eerie feeling along with the rummaged office supplies and disheveled desks. “My friend dragged me in for the bonus items and she isn’t even here.”
His character appears in your field of view, turning around twice to notion you to follow him out the shattered window. “That’s so sad,” he chuckles, “follow me.”
He leads your personifier and his out of the building and catches a few snipes here and there, making sure your character doesn’t reach its twentieth death. The two of you camp out behind a wall of towering shrubs and growing vines that stretch on looming trees. “Let me teach you how to play,” he says but it comes out more as a strict command.
Jimin’s voice is soothing as he walks you through the basics of the FPS, teaching you how to exchange weapons and guiding you to the shadowing parts of the map. Under his guidance it doesn’t take long for you to gain your first kill. Your yelp of excitement causes a smile to blossom on his face. It is only supposed to be one match then you hit the sack, but hours quickly stretch and one becomes two, three, until you hit the eighth at the crack of the night.
“Okay, okay,” you sigh and blink your tired eyes, officially exiting the game to call it a night, “I think I should head to bed now.”
He pouts and closes the window when he sees the green activity button next to your username flicker red. “It’s only 3:36 AM.”
You watch the unhappiness creep on his face but lethargy drowns out everything else. “I still can’t believe you’re in the same timezone as me, good night.”
“Wait!” He stops you from clicking the vermillion button to end the call, “Give me your number.”
At this point of the night you are sure that he thinks he is dreaming. “What the fuck, no, I just met you.”
“Really?” He asks twice to confirm, raising his phone as his eyes glue to the screen, thumbs flying over the pad.
You exert an exaggerated grunt. “Yes, good-bye.”
“Okay, but check your phone before you go to bed.”
Too drained to reply, you end the call and hop into the comfort of your bed, allowing the satin sheets to drape above you while sinking into your mattress. You tug the blankets to your chin, arm reaching across the bed to retrieve your phone on the desk. You have one new message from an unknown number. Hesitant, you open it.
[3:42 AM] Unknown: hi it’s jimin
You stare at the same three words as if they are going to disappear the longer you hope for such a thing to occur. Those three grey dots appear and disappear over and over, Jimin contemplating what words to say.
[3:43 AM] Unknown: i know you didn’t want to give me your number but it was on your skype profile
[3:43 AM] Unknown: i thought it would be kind to ask first
[3:44 AM] You: Fuck off and go to bed
[3:44 AM] Jimin: take your own advice
[3:44 AM] You: I took a nap earlier so its hard
[3:44 AM] Jimin: jeez, fine. good night and sweet dreams
[3:45 AM] Jimin: talk to you in a few hours
You roam your social media for a couple tens of minutes, allowing the effort of browsing to tire you out until your bright eyes are now dark and drooping. Your thumb rests on the lock button ready to shut out the light to really bring it all to a close, but then you get another sudden text.
[4:07 AM] Jimin: idk if you’re sleeping or not
[4:07 AM] Jimin: you probably are and i just want to tell you that you’re really pretty
[4:07 AM] Jimin: and that from what i saw you have a nice body
[4:08 AM] Jimin: i’d like to webcam again later if that’s alright
[4:08 AM] Jimin: well, to talk of course. unless you want to do more as well
[4:08 AM] Jimin: i mean
[4:10 AM] Jimin: fuck
[4:10 AM] Jimin: sorry i’m kinda hard right now
[4:11 AM] You: I said go the fuck to sleep
You knew there was something off with Jimin when you first met on the game, but you wouldn’t expect him to be as open as he is right now.
[4:12 AM] Jimin: i will if you help me out :)
[4:12 AM] You: Living up to your username, erectchim, i see
[4:13 AM] Jimin: i can send an example as well if you want
His flirty jests capture your attention, warm feeling rising in your stomach as you turn to your side to pull on the lamp switch. Who would have thought Jimin would be so… fuckboy? Who would have guessed that you’d bat an eye to someone like that as well?
[4:14 AM] You: Fuck u, oh my gosh i was trying to sleep
[4:14 AM] Jimin: why do you always say that?
[4:14 AM] Jimin: you’d like that wouldn’t you?
[4:14 AM] Jimin: are you not saying anything because it’s true?
[4:15 AM] Jimin: come on, y/n
[4:15 AM] Jimin: you haven’t seen my dick yet, but i’m sure you want it
You haven’t seen it “yet?”
You stare at the message previews, your phone screen the only source of illumination in the dark of your room. You aren’t sure what comes over you, but whatever it is it’s enough for you to turn daring, testing Jimin’s limits to see how far his amorous jokes can go.
[4:16 AM] You: Yeah? what if i do?
Jimin swallows his breath at your reply, not expecting you to play your own set of cards to his suggestive game.
[4:17 AM] Jimin: wait really?
[4:18 AM] Jimin: hello?
[4:18 AM] You: Yeah i guess
[4:18 AM] You: Why?
[4:19 AM] Jimin: cause then
[4:19 AM] Jimin: you can have it.
It is unexpected to him that you would carry on his trifles, but the next message he sends is completely uncalled for.
[4:21 AM] Jimin: [image0425.jpg]
You run your thumb over your screen to unlock your phone, a grainy photograph awaiting you in the messages. You flip onto your back and hold your phone at a closer proximity to your face, vision narrowing on the picture. It takes you a while to put every fraction of your mind to figure out what he sent considering the dim lighting, blur, and grain, but it finally hits you.
Laying over his cotton sheets, his hardened length rests in the gap of his thumb and index finger, boxers peeping out of the grey sweats that now hug his thighs. You clench your teeth, unsure of how to reply, and your mouth waters at the exquisite sight.
[4:23 AM] Jimin: busy?
[4:23 AM] You: No
[4:23 AM] You: Ur bigger than i thought
[4:23 AM] You: Oh and that was fucking unexpected
[4:23 AM] Jimin: sorry, does this make up for it?
[4:24 AM] Jimin: [image0426.jpg]
A sudden wave of desire washes over your body from a mere glance at the graphic. He is on his feet, toes digging into the forest of his carpet, and his whole hand is wrapping around his solid member as if he is jerking himself off- honestly, he probably is. A part of his face is peeping in his poorly taken picture, mouth agape and head tilting. You have seen Jimin’s face before on video the video call, but you never noticed how kissable his lips appear. Nonetheless, you want to beat him at his own game.
[4:26 AM] You: Did u stand up just to take that picture?
[4:26 AM] Jimin: way to ruin the mood
[4:26 AM] You: Are u the jimin i met on that stupid game?
[4:27 AM] Jimin: and i repeat
[4:27 AM] Jimin: way to ruin the mood
There is a line of silence between you two, both unable to render coherent thoughts. You then decide to return the favor; of course, unexpected to him as well.
[4:31 AM] You: [image089.jpg]
[4:31 AM] You: Does this make up for it?
Jimin’s member twitches in his hand as he gawks at your image, your palm sliding into your white laced panties that has a growing wet spot. He falls onto his bed, slowly typing his response.
[4:33 AM] Jimin: what the
[4:33 AM] Jimin: hey i know you just met me and all
[4:33 AM] Jimin: through the fucking internet especially
[4:33 AM] Jimin: but i really want you beside me right now
[4:34 AM] You: Really?
[4:34 AM] Jimin: no i actually want your mouth over my dick but same shit
Same shit?
Jimin appears to be drowning in his hormones tonight. Nonetheless, it is miraculously a turn on and despite the wide distance between you two, the electricity provides a strong enough pull.
[4:36 AM] Jimin: i may or may not want to know how well you can take me
[4:36 AM] Jimin: probably relaly well
[4:36 AM] Jimin: fuck
[4:37 AM] Jimin: [image0442.jpg]
[4:37 AM] Jimin: i’m so hard over a girl i met on the fucking internet can you believethta
From the way his replies are starting to become messy and careless, you can already read into his actions within his room. His hand is pumping rigorously up and down his hard shaft, tightening the grip whenever you reply, thumb grazing the screen to take a peek at the picture and-
[4:38 AM] You: [image090.jpg]
Shit. It’s another graphic of your sex but this time it is unclothed and drenching. With two fingers barely digging into your entrance, succulence coating them already, he lets out a long string of groans. In brevity each other’s swarm of needy texts that flood both screens, erotic pictures every so often, he pops out another question- well, command.
[4:42 AM] Jimin: film yourself for me
[4:42 AM] Jimin: let me see your soaking pussy
[4:42 AM] You: What?
[4:42 AM] Jimin: do it
[4:42 AM] Jimin: i know it’s the beginning of the day but i’m already craving breakfast
[4:42 AM] Jimin: i want to get a taste of your heaven
[4:43 AM] Jimin: i bet you want my tongue on you as much as i do
[4:43 AM] Jimin: i’d lick you clean over and over
[4:43 AM] Jimin: you should also know i’d make you cum endlessly
[4:44 AM] Jimin: shit, go fukcing film yourself for me right now
You take a moment or two to consider his request; surprisingly enough, you fulfill it, all traces of fatigue washing out of your body. You steadily swipe to the camera app and prop your phone in the soft of your pillows, stripping yourself of your panties and grey tee. You tap the vermillion of your screen, a “swoosh” indicating that it begins to record. You scoot back, dragging your sheets with you, and spread your legs to reveal your deluging slit. Sliding your hands from your knees, pathing to your thigh, you take your clit in between your index and middle finger, duly sliding over it prior to propelling them inside. The sensation is enlivening on the spot, rich imaginations of Jimin fucking you until your senses give out invading your mind. Becoming carried away with the zest of the situation you grab onto your phone to reveal your whole face.
He ponders what’s taking up your time, doubting the fact that you would give into his rousing demand. Well, until the notification pops up on his phone.
[4:48 AM] You: [video18.mp4]
He gulps in expectations of it being you poking another jest at his shoulder, but once he hit play his mind transports to a fervent kingdom and begins to wild for more.
The way you look with your baby hairs sticking to your forehead, beads of sweat dripping from your temples due to the heated session. The camera pans to your chest, showing him your two dales, nipples erect as ever. It slowly shifts to your jerking hand, your middle and index finger stretching you out as your own dew coats the working digits. The squelching sound of your fingers sliding in and out of your hole can be heard more than clearly in the delectable video along with your childish whines.
“J- Jimin,” you pant, “Jimin I want you so bad.”
He marvels at the message, eyes wide and mouth agape. Your comely moans enrapture every fraction of his attention making his mind swirl to the polar opposite of arcadian. The way you look with your lissome fingers driving in and out of your effulgent cunt, broken whimpers of his name hopping off the tip of your tongue, propels him to the brink of insane and all he wants to do is touch you. His hardening member forms a tent in the confinement of his pajama pants, throbbing for relief. Fumbling in his bed, he rapidly pools his jeans and plaid boxers at his ankles, cock springing against his lower abdomen. He positions himself comfortably, back pressing on the wooden headboard as his fingers scurry to replay the perfect motion picture of your sexual desire.
He swallows his breath and lets his clammy palm rub his length lightly. It starts with the rosy tip that has a bead of precum about to leak to the hardened shaft and ends with a fondle of his aching balls, constantly squeezing them as his eyes are gluing to the munificence motion picture on the tiny screen. If it isn’t for the reverberation drowning the succulent melody of your carnality, he would have never noticed your message with his deep heaves and tiny grunts, mind a complete haze due to your intoxicating stunt. Barely able to tap the screen, he reads the message preview through his lustful and clouding eyes.
[4:50 AM] You: Yourt urn
[4:50 AM] You: I dont give a fuck if ur getting tired
[4:50 AM] You: I did it and so can yuo
Inhaling a sharp breath, he opens the message box and clicks on the camera option, allowing you to see a fraction of his enticing paradise.
[4:53 AM] Jimin: [video07.mp4]
It’s brief- lasting for a quick seven seconds- but the wrecked cries of his want for you that he tries to keep silent, hand clasping around his solid member, pink and leaking at the tip as he jerks himself turbulently, and final moan that rips from his throat is more than enough to send you to a seventh heaven.
“Oh, baby. You’re so- ah- hot.”
The croak of his voice mixing with that simple statement provides an audible echo through his own video, your nectar glazing upon your impeding fingers. You can’t exactly imagine how his fingers would feel inside of you, how amazing the sensation would be. The thought of his digits twisting and curling inside of you while whispering obscene suggestions into your ear sets you off enough.
[4:55 AM] Jimin: shit
[4:55 AM] Jimin: can i call you?
[4:56 AM] Jimin: i kind of don’t care that i jsut met ouy
[4:56 AM] Jimin: what matters is that you’re thirsty and so am i :)))
Despite Jimin inquiring, he dials your number anyway and you answer within a heartbeat, his heavy breaths immediately greeting you on the other line. “J- Jimin?” You call, slowing your pace.
“Oh my god,” he grunts, “I love the sound of your- agh- voice.”
You giggle, stopping your tread and he hears the contentment in your groan.
“You’re fucking dripping.” He asks, intent lacing his voice.
You hum, and blow a few messy strands of hair from your face again. “Mm.”
“Gah, who would have thought you’d be in- into this. All hot and needy. I know I said this twice b- but I know I just met you and… Fuck, I want to feel you clench around my fingers. I want to slide two, three inside of you- of course you’d be wet to take it all- ah- at once. Wouldn’t you like that? I’d love to see you squirm under my touch. Keep fingering yourself for me, do it.”
You abide to his request, beginning to pump your fingers in and out of your entrance gradually.
“You’re so pretty but I’m sure you’d be even prettier when you beg.”
The deep breaths he takes is audible along with the noise of his hand keeping himself busy.
“I know you’re using your own fingers, but could you imagine how I’d make you feel? How much better? Are you close to cumming?”
You swallow your words, unable to form a coherent response. “I- I am. I’d love to suck you off right now too, please.”
“Please?” He chuckles, “Already begging for it after all the pictures I s- sent?”
You whine and kick your blanket. “You aren’t here with me right now!”
“I really would love to eat you out right now and make you cum until you feel like passing out. I want to see the look of desperation on your face, to hear your whines in person, and to just make you feel amazing under my touch, wouldn’t you like that?”
“I really-” you moan out his name, deftly twisting and curling your fingers around your drenching walls- “really would.”
“I want you to cum for me,” he demands, “now, baby.”
Baby.
The name itself is the match that has set you ablaze, igniting you into an extreme elation. Your fingers slow themselves and become saturated in your desirous juices. The moan you attempt to remain lodging in your throat escapes, prompting Jimin to release his load as well, all over his exposed thighs and bed sheets.
He recalls your video, how disheveled you appeared with hair as messy as if a hurricane just struck, you needy voice echoing in his mind.
With sexual longing now satisfied, you slip your fingers out and sprawl yourself silently on your bed to catch your breath.
“Jesus fucking Christ,” Jimin spits out as he plops face down into his pillows, “I don’t know how you did that, but it was the best orgasm I had in a while.”
You giggle and curl into your sheets. “Glad to be of service.”
“Glad you were available, Y/N.” He gulps and hesitates, debating whether or not to voice his final apology- “Sorry though, you know, if this was weird and all because you-”
“- don’t worry about it.” You whisper, barely able to fight the urge to pass out cold. “Let’s just…”
He awaits your response, but nothing else leaves your mouth. He raises the volume on his phone, asking you to repeat the final part, but you’re already knocked out. “Hello? Y/N, did you seriously fall asleep on me?”
He allows the few seconds of still silence to pass prior to ending the call.
[5:17 AM] Jimin: hey
[5:17 AM] Jimin: finish your sentence
[5:18 AM] Jimin: btw you fell asleep on me
[5:18 AM] Jimin: but you can make up for that tomorrow ;)

LG G1 OLED TV review: Tough to improve on near-perfection

LG G1 OLED TV review: Tough to improve on near-perfection
Tumblr media
For years OLED TVs have delivered the best image quality available with display technology that has remained largely unchanged, but LG promised something even better for 2021. The G1 has an all-new panel not available on any other TV LG sells. The company calls it Evo and says it achieves higher brightness and improved color. My verdict? Yes, it’s slightly better than before but even in a side-by-side comparison, it was difficult to tell the difference.

Image quality improvements over cheaper OLED TVs are minor
I set up the G1 next to the CX, the best TV I reviewed in 2020, measured both and watched a variety of TV shows, movies and games. The G1 was indeed a bit brighter than the CX but color was nearly identical, as were other aspects of picture quality like video processing and uniformity. Both looked spectacular, however, and in most material I really couldn’t say one looked better than the other.

Now playing: Watch this: LG G1 TV review: Can OLED picture quality get even better?
8:56
The main advantage the G1 has over the CX and pretty much every other OLED TV is its unique design. This TV is made to be wall-mounted — quite literally; it doesn’t even come with a stand! If you want to put it on a piece of furniture, as shown in the images in this review, you’ll have to pay $100 extra for LG’s little side legs. And that would be a shame, because something this thin should really be on a wall.
New for 2021 LG has improved its already best-in-class gaming features by adding picture modes especially for games, as well as a convenient menu that shows all gaming info and adjustments in one place. There’s a new remote and a new smart TV homepage, too. The more affordable C1 shares those features with the G1, however.
At this point, the G1 is the best TV I’ve ever tested — by a nose. I have yet to review its competitor from Sony, the A90J, which also promises a brighter panel, or any other high-end TVs like Samsung’s Neo QLED models, so that title might not last. But for people who don’t have money to burn, the extra picture quality of the G1 probably isn’t worth the extra money over mainstream OLED models like the CX or C1.
Get to know the LG G1 series
It comes in three sizes and costs a bundle: 55-inch ($2,200), 65-inch ($3,000) and 77-inch ($4,500).
It differs from the less expensive C1 series by offering fewer sizes (the C1 has 48-inch and 82-inch options too), that Evo panel and the slimmer, wall-mount-centric Gallery design. The C1 also lacks a far-field mic for hands-free voice and a Next-Gen TV tuner, both relatively minor extras included on the G1.
OLED display technology is fundamentally different from the LED LCD technology used in the vast majority of today’s TVs, including Samsung and TCL’s QLED models.
The best LCD TVs I’ve reviewed so far scored a 9 in image quality, while OLEDs TVs like the G1 have scored a 10. High-end LCDs (especially with HDR) are brighter than OLEDs, but the picture quality on OLED TVs, including that of this G1, is superior overall.
All OLED TVs are more subject to both temporary and permanent image retention, aka burn-in, than LCD TVs. We at CNET don’t consider burn-in a reason for most people to avoid buying an OLED TV, however. Check out our guide to OLED burn-in for more.
Throw it at the wall
A TV doesn’t get any more minimalist than this. Like many sets these days the G1 is pretty much all picture when seen from the front, but it’s the side view that sets it apart. It measures just 0.8 inches deep and is designed for nearly flush wall-mounting. And as I mentioned at the top, it doesn’t even come with a tabletop stand: If you want a stand mount, it will cost $100 extra.

The G1 comes with a wall-mount bracket inset into a cavity on the back for a practically flush mount.

Here’s what it looks like flush against the wall.
Sarah Tew/CNET
This TV’s design is wasted if you don’t wall-mount it. LG includes a custom bracket in the box and instructions that make it easy to slap up yourself if you’re at all handy — although I’m guessing most people in this price bracket will hire somebody to do the job. Thanks to an inset on the back of the TV the wall mount doesn’t add any extra depth, allowing the G1 to hug the wall and present a very slim profile. Channels are built into the TV’s back to run cables through, for a cleaner installation behind the TV. LG recommends using molding to hide cables on the wall itself. Note: I didn’t mount it myself in my test basement, but I’ve mounted plenty of TVs before and this one seems like it would be a simple job.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LG’s redesigned remote still has lots of buttons and motion control.
Sarah Tew/CNET
LG revamped the remote a bit. It kept my favorite features, namely the scroll wheel and motion-tracking, while slimming it down slightly. The biggest difference is the shortcut keys at the bottom: four for streaming services and two more for the built-in voice assistants, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. The former wasn’t yet available on my G1 review sample, but LG says it will be soon.
The G1 is also equipped with a far-field mic (not available on the C1) so you can simply say the wake word to get the TV to respond, no remote required. It responded just like I’d expect from a smart speaker to my “Alexa” commands.
Based on my experience with the CX, both Google and Alexa can do all the usual assistant stuff, including control smart home devices, answer questions and respond via a voice coming out of the TV’s speakers (yep, both voices). Basics like “What’s the weather?” works as you’d expect, complete with onscreen feedback. The G1 also works with Apple’s AirPlay 2 system, just like many other TVs, allowing my iPhone to share photos and video to the screen from the Photos app and mirror my Mac and phone screens.
LG’s webOS menu system got a facelift for 2021 — and I’m not a fan. Gone is the small, unobtrusive overlay at the bottom of the screen that lets you keep tabs on what you’re watching. Instead there’s a full-screen homepage, similar to Roku, Fire TV and Android TV. But it has fewer apps and more, well, junk. The top two-thirds of the screen are devoted to the weather, setup tips, a search window and a Trending Now section with a random collection of TV shows and movies. Below that is an app row and, further down, sections devoted to inputs and particular streaming apps. In general it feels like a hodgepodge with too much going on, and most systems are simpler and easier to grasp.

Features galore, state-of-the-art connectivity
LG says its Evo panel, available only on the G1 this year, uses a “new luminous element” for more precise lighting. The construction of the OLED pixel itself is different, with new materials for red and blue and a new green layer, all of which have narrower wavelengths compared to the pixels used on other OLED TVs.

Display technology OLED LED backlight N/A Resolution 4K HDR compatible HDR10 and Dolby Vision Smart TV Web OS Remote Motion
Otherwise the G1 has the same image quality features as the C1, starting with the new Gen 4 a9 processing chip that adds scene detection and upgraded object enhancement over last year’s version. Both the G1 and C1 also have a 120Hz refresh rate. The entry-level A1 OLEDs, meanwhile, have a more basic a7 processor and 60Hz refresh rate.
Just like last year, LG’s OLED TVs’ picture settings include a Filmmaker Mode. As promised, it turns off the soap opera effect for film-based content (yay) but so do many other modes in the G1. While plenty accurate, Filmmaker Mode is also relatively dim so I ended up using Cinema and ISF Bright for most critical viewing.

All of LG’s recent OLED models (except the A1) include the latest version of the HDMI standard: 2.1. That means their HDMI ports can handle 4K at 120 frames per second and variable refresh rate (VRR, including NVIDIA G-sync and AMD FreeSync), as well as enhanced audio return channel (eARC) and automatic low latency mode (ALLM, or auto game mode). That means they can take advantage of the latest graphics features available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. New for 2021 is a Game Optimizer mode that puts all of the TVs’ gaming-related settings in one place; see below for details.
The selection of connections is otherwise top-notch, though it no longer supports analog component video. There’s also a dedicated headphone or analog audio output and another for IR blasters, which could ease some installations.

Picture quality comparisons
With its slightly better picture and a couple of other minor improvements the G1 beat the CX, my previous picture quality champ, in side-by-side comparisons. According to my measurements and eyeballs, however, the brightness difference was minor enough to be invisible at times, and just about every other aspect of picture quality was virtually identical. Both TVs looked a tad better than the less expensive Vizio OLED.
Dim lighting: The G1 performed like a champ with the lights down low — and so did the other two OLED TVs in my comparison. I checked out The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey on standard Blu-ray, and they all appeared more or less uniformly excellent: perfect black levels in the letterbox bars and deep shadows of Bilbo’s living room during the dark Dwarven chant (36:58) and plenty of details in the shadows and clothing of Thorin and company. I couldn’t see any real advantage of the G1 with this kind of theatrical situation in standard (non-HDR) material.
Bright lighting: For a TV billed by LG as an improvement in brightness, the G1’s measurements didn’t really stand out. Yes, it did measure brighter than last year’s CX by 129 nits in the most accurate HDR modes, but that’s not a huge leap and proved tough to discern in most program material. I was also surprised that the C9 I reviewed from 2019 was brighter at maximum light output and basically the same in its accurate mode. As usual, any high-end LCD is much brighter.

I asked LG’s representatives whether my particular review sample’s brightness was typical of other G1’s and they said it was. As always, different sizes and samples can produce variations.
LG OLEDs of recent vintage have a setting called Peak Brightness that boosts the light output for SDR sources in Cinema and Expert modes. The idea is to increase contrast for brighter viewing environments while maintaining the superior color accuracy of those modes. As with most TVs, the brightest mode for HDR and SDR (Vivid on the G1) is horribly inaccurate. For the accurate color columns above on the G1, I used ISF Expert Bright (Peak Brightness: High) for SDR and Cinema mode for HDR — I recommend G1 owners do the same to get good color in bright rooms.
All recent OLED sets are still plenty bright enough for just about any viewing environment. Yes, they do get quite a bit dimmer than LCDs when showing full-screen white — a hockey game, for example — but even in those situations they’re hardly dim. The G1’s screen preserved black levels and reduced reflections very well.
Color accuracy: LG claims better color with the new Evo panel but according to my measurements and eyeballs, it’s tough to spot any difference. Color on the CX was excellent and the G1 was basically the same. An LG rep told me that the G1’s white color could look more pure, like in a hockey match, but I didn’t see or measure any differences in full-field white/gray (ones that weren’t due to very small differences in grayscale after calibration, at least).
Watching The Hobbit was mostly the same story, although at times greens, like the grass and hillsides of the Shire (12:24), appeared a bit more greenish and less yellowish on the G1. It was a subtle difference at best, and again I didn’t see or measure any difference in green test patterns, but it could be due to the new panel. Maybe.
Color on the G1 was nonetheless extremely accurate both before and after calibration. The warm tones of Bag End’s interior and Bilbo’s skin were inviting and intimate, and outside his hobbit hole the green of the grass and trees in the golden hour sun, and the red and blue circular doorways on Bagshot Row, looked brilliant and natural. The same could be said for the other OLED TVs, however, and none delivered significantly better color than another.
Video processing: LG goes to great lengths to tout the improvement of its processing every year, but watching various material in the best picture settings the CX and G1 looked largely identical to me.
Motion handling on the G1 is excellent and a touch better than the CX. Under TruMotion, the new Cinematic Movement setting (the default for Cinema mode) served up 24-frame cadence with a very slight hint of smoothing, improving on last year’s too-smooth Cinema Clear setting while preserving 600 lines of motion resolution. 24p purists who want no smoothing at all will opt for the Off position (the default for Filmmaker mode) and suffer the low motion resolution, while tweakers will appreciate the fine granularity of the User De-Judder mode to dial in the right amount of smoothness; anything four or lower introduced some judder to my eye, conveying a sense of film rather than soap opera effect. De-Blur settings of five or higher deliver the full 600 lines of motion resolution.
User also opens up the OLED Motion Pro menu with three levels of black frame insertion that further improve motion resolution, with 800 lines in Low and a full 1200 in Med and High. The latter introduces flicker, unfortunately, and all three are a bit dimmer than Off, but if blur really bugs you then they’re worth experimenting with. One improvement over last year is that engaging OLED Motion Pro no longer totally crushes shadow detail — it’s a bit worse but still very good. Still, I’d choose to leave it off and sacrifice some motion resolution for maximum light output and shadow detail.
Uniformity: Like all OLEDs I’ve tested the G1 was exemplary in this area, with no significant brightness or color variations across the screen and nearly perfect image quality from off-angle. Compared to the CX I did see a bit more color shift toward magenta in extreme angles with full-field mid-bright and brighter test patterns, but it disappeared when I moved closer to on-axis and never affected the image from a normal viewing angle.

Gaming: The G1’s superb image quality carries over to games, and some of its biggest 2021 features upgrades are gaming-related. The new Game Optimizer is the name of both a picture mode and a full menu system. The latter offers all-new tweaks including four game genre modes: Standard, FPS mode (said to boost shadow detail), RPG mode (to boost contrast) and RTS mode (said to enhance mid-grayscale areas). There are also sliders labeled Black Stabilizer (for adjusting dark areas) and White Stabilizer (for bright areas), as well as the OLED Motion Pro setting described above (LG says it’s particularly useful for games) and the Reduce Blue light setting (said to be easier on the eyes).
I started my test in standard mode with settings at their defaults with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla at 4K/60Hz and HDR running through my distribution amp so I could compare against the other TVs. Conducting a nighttime raid, the G1 looked most similar to the CX and the Vizio in its standard mode and all three TVs looked excellent, with the G1 delivering a touch better shadow detail already. Switching to FPS upped details even further but washed out the image a bit much for this cinematic game — although I can see it being useful in an actual FPS game if you want to reveal lurking enemies, or a very dark HDR game like Ghost of Tsushima. The RTS setting did boost midtones at the expense of some contrast, while RPG looked quite close to standard, if not as impactful to my eye. In any case it’s cool having these extra adjustment options, and I liked that they each get a dedicated menu.
Next I connected my Xbox Series X directly to the G1 to test advanced video features. VRR worked as expected, significantly reducing tearing in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and I appreciated the prominent toggle and indicator in the Game Optimizer menu that assured me VRR was engaged. Another slider labeled Fine Tune Dark Areas is available to address the issue of VRR looking too dark. I headed deep into a crypt where VRR was crushing shadows a bit — cranking up that setting, as well as the Black Stabilizer, helped. The flipside is that doing so spoiled black levels and washed out the look of the game, so (as a card-carrying contrast fiend) I’d avoid using it unless it really hurts your gameplay.
I also tried 4K/120Hz on Gears 5 and Star Wars: Squadrons, but the extra smoothness and framerate were difficult to discern in most cases. I appreciate that some games, like Ori and the Will of the Wisps, showed a splash screen indicating that 120fps was active, but most did not. I looked for confirmation in LG’s display menu but, unfortunately, it doesn’t have any. Samsung’s new 2021 Game Bar, on the other hand, does indicate 120fps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Buried within Game Optimizer is another setting labeled “Reduce input delay (input lag)” with two options, Standard and Boost. The former, which is the default for any game, serves up an excellent lag number similar to past LG OLED models: just 13.1ms for both 1080p and 4K HDR sources. Engaging Boost cuts lag even further, to just under 10ms for both. The catch is that Boost is only available for 60Hz sources, so you can’t use it with 120Hz games or VRR. And no, I don’t think many humans would notice the extra 3ms of lag.
HDR and 4K video: It’s with HDR that you’d expect the G1’s brightness advantage to be most visible, but watching the 4K Blu-ray version of The Hobbit, differences were again very slight. Highlights like the sky behind the elven king as he turns away from Thorin (7:59) or the window in Bilbo’s study (9:06) measured slightly brighter on the G1 than on the CX according to my light meter but without measuring it was tough to see the difference by eye, even when compared side by side. Highlights on the Vizio appeared visibly dimmer than either one, for less HDR pop, but the differences were much narrower between the two LGs.
Color was likewise pretty much equally spectacular on the LGs and a step behind on the Vizio, which looked a bit duller in Bilbo’s garden and the blue sky for example (13:25). Any color improvement afforded by the G1’s new panel tech over the CX was less visible with HDR than with SDR.
I also checked out some of the most revealing HDR content around: the montage of images from the Spears and Munsil 4K HDR benchmark. Again the G1 was superb and better by a slight margin than the CX, but the G1 failed to really distance itself. Most scenes looked very similar between all three, from the crashing waves to the sunsets to the flowers to the objects on black backgrounds, and in most cases when I saw a difference it was the Vizio lagging a bit behind the other two. Spot measurements revealed mildly brighter highlights on the G1 but I couldn’t tell the difference without measuring.
The benchmark also has a 4,000 nit montage to test content mastered at that level and; again, both LGs looked very similar. They outclassed the Vizio, which looked somewhat flat in some scenes in comparison.
Picture settings, HDR notes and charts
CNET is no longer publishing advanced picture settings for any TVs we review. Instead, we’ll give more general recommendations to get the best picture without listing the detailed white balance or color management system (CMS) settings we may have used to calibrate the TV. As always, the settings provided are a guidepost, and if you want the most accurate picture you should get a professional calibration.
Before my calibration for this review the Cinema and preset was the most accurate, excellent in terms of grayscale and gamma with just a slight reddish cast (but still within my error target of delta 3). Since I now target a 2.2 gamma for my reviews dark rooms it was closer than ISF Expert Dark or the new Filmmaker modes, which both target gamma 2.4/BT 1886. ISF Bright was basically identical to Cinema, but I reserved that for brighter rooms.
For my calibration I tweaked the two-point grayscale to remove the red cast, reduced light output to my target of 137 nits and increased brightness two pips to help with shadow detail (while still keeping perfect black levels), but otherwise I left well enough alone. The grayscale and color were already so accurate on my LG-provided review sample that I didn’t need to touch the multipoint system or the color management system.

HDR Notes: HDR Cinema and Filmmaker mode were very similar, following the electro-optical transfer function — how the TV converts data to a specific brightness — quite closely and better than Cinema Home, but Cinema was about 70 nits brighter so it’s my favorite of the three. Game Optimizer is best for gaming thanks to its processing but quite blue; for the best color accuracy for gaming you should adjust the color temperature control (Color > White Balance > Color temperatureW45).
Color checker was slightly more accurate than on the CX from last year but not great, and HDR Color Checker was worse. As usual with OLED the set covered P3 HDR gamut very well. The G1 measured brighter than the CX or the B9 from 2019, but the C9 from 2019 actually measured brighter in its least accurate and basically the same in its most-accurate settings. Once again the TV automatically detected and engaged the “HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color” setting designed for HDR sources.

F-Stops. ISO. Shutter Speed. Autofocus. The Exposure Triangle. Focal Length. 35mm vs. 50mm. Full-Frame vs. Micro Four Thirds. Mirrorless vs. DSLR. As a beginner, this is a short list of terms that you’ll be expected to know to get the best out of a consumer-grade camera.
While there is no substitute for good-old-fashioned-experimentation when it comes to shooting photos, sometimes you want to grab your camera and take a decent picture. But maybe you want to live out your Casey Neistat dreams of being the next Youtube Vlog sensation. Heck, maybe you'd like to use a camera that doesn’t come with a monthly service plan or double as a handheld Bejeweled Blitz machine.
youtube
If only there were an entry-level camera that could help you solve those problems without costing a small fortune. If only a camera could take great photos without generating snotty looks from mustachioed hipsters effortlessly wielding their $8,000 Leicas. Well, folks, allow me to introduce you to the Canon EOS M50 Mk II.
The EOS M50 Mk II is the new 24.1-megapixel, mirrorless camera that improves upon the M50 Mk I from 2018. It uses the DIGIC 8 processor, designed to improve image quality even at higher ISO speeds. The EOS M50 Mk II can shoot 4K—more on that in a moment—at 24 frames per second (FPS); and shoot 1080P up to 60 FPS. The maximum video image size is 3840 x 2160.
Tumblr media
Canon considers this its "entry-level" offering, and I am inclined to agree. But, with the entry-level price point and consumer in mind, that means the camera offers several features that make it easy for the average person to use. I think that's one of the EOS M50 Mk II's biggest strengths.
What’s in the Box?
The Canon EOS M50 Mk II Body
15-45mm Zoom lens
Owner’s Manual
Battery
Charger
Lens caps
The Canon M50 Mk II is the second iteration of the previous Canon M50 mirrorless camera staple in the YouTube vlogging world. A search on YouTube yields an almost endless supply of M50 videos. Seriously, everyone has this camera.
The wide use means there's also an abundance of accessories available for the M50 Mark II, including lenses, cages, speed-boosters, USB power adapters, 110v A/C plug-in power supplies, and much more.
Tumblr media
So, what makes the EOS M50 Mk II better than the original? And why should you fork over an additional $50 bucks on top of the price of the original M50 for the standard Mk II body-and-kit-lens package? And what about all that negative press?! Isn’t the M50 Mk II just a software update to the original M50?
Yes. Essentially the hardware for the M50 Mk II is the same as the original M50. And Yes, the Mk II is essentially just a software update from the original. Don’t listen to the haters, though. You should still buy the Mk II unless you're only planning on taking photos.
Related: Common Camera Lenses and When to Use Them
But why? Well, mostly because I think it adds $50 worth of additional features that you’re not going to get if you decide to buy the original.
Features like autofocus improvements, and a clean HDMI out, which means that you can plug the M50 MK II into a desktop monitor to gaze into your own pretty face while filming for your adoring YouTube fanbase, or record to an external device.
Tumblr media
There’s also better battery life. That means about 1/3 more photos than the original M50, not to mention more video footage. And the Mk II offers improvements to autofocus, as well as a new feature—eye-tracking focus. Plus, you can use autofocus while the AI Servo AF is active—a feature that makes motion capture simple and is absent from the original M50.
Is the EOS M50 Mk II an Upgrade?
If you’re going to make a decently large purchase for a camera that is around $700, then you want the absolute maximum of features packed into whatever you buy. While the original M50 is still a great camera, it’s not the best for vlogging, and the camera’s anemic battery life has been flagged more than once. Of course, you could always spend a little extra and buy another battery if you like. That’s a great way to go as well. Or you could buy the Mk II.
Then there's the autofocus. Canon is famous for its dual pixel autofocus. I won’t get into the jargon-y specifics because I don’t like to bore my readers, but what you need to know is this: Canon's dual pixel autofocus is awesome.
youtube
It’s great for videos and normal photography alike. It’s also fast. Eye-controlled focus (eye-tracking) adds to the dual pixel autofocus by accentuating the subject’s eyes while shooting.
It’s generally accepted that if you want to take good portraits, then you should focus—no pun—on the eyes of your subject. The eye-tracking focus feature makes it easy to do just that.
Tumblr media
In addition to the improvements in autofocus, Canon added a vertical video shooting mode designed for your favorite photo and video-based social media platforms. The company has added wireless YouTube streaming (though YouTube restrictions mean you'll need over 1,000 subscribers), and you get that clean HDMI out so that if you’re streaming via the HDMI port, you don’t have to stare at the on-camera settings.
Related: A Complete Guide to the Exposure Triangle in Photography
This on-camera info display was a huge gripe for a lot of folks with the original EOS M50. With that model, whenever you connected an external display, there was no way to turn off the busy informational display settings. The Mk II changes that.
Tumblr media
While we’re on the subject of minor gripes with the M50 Mark I, let’s talk about a feature that the Mark II has that the Mark I didn't. The flip-out screen record button.
That means you can now reach over and tap the on-screen button to start your video while you can still see yourself in the frame. The new on-screen record button is a little thing, but it’s something that the vlogging crowd and I certainly appreciate.
The M50 Mark II also makes it quick to get up and running. Charge the battery, pop on the lens, insert a memory card and get shooting. Additionally, for all of you colorists, the Mk II can shoot in a mostly flat color profile with a little software tweaking. But, I should note that it won't shoot LOG.
Tumblr media
Did I mention that the M50 Mk II can be used with Zoom and OBS or the Canon EOS Webcam Utility as a webcam? It can, and it is also fabulous for this purpose as long as you have enough battery life to support it.
Personally, I bought an adapter that allows me to plug the camera into an AC cable and plug that cable into the wall. I love it. Every time I use the M50 Mk II as a webcam, I get bombarded with questions about my setup.
For the best use of this feature, I'd recommend you look into the 22mm f2.0 lens that Canon offers for the EF-M mount cameras. This lens gives you a wider shot and a larger aperture than the 15-45mm kit lens that the M50 ships with.
Related: Simple Ways to Improve the Quality of Your Photos
Ease of Use
Arguably the biggest benefit of the Mark II is how easy it is to pick up and use. Unfortunately, the kit lens isn’t the sharpest, and the f/3.5 aperture doesn’t lend itself to the type of creamy bokeh that you’re used to seeing in professional portrait photography. Still, for amateur photographers looking to get their feet wet, this is a great package.
Tumblr media
For point-and-shoot photography, the 15-45mm kit lens is more than enough to make your photos pop. Though, you should know that low-light settings are going to require increased ISO. Past 400 things start to get a little grainy, but most photos don’t really suffer until you’re around the 800+ mark.
The one thing the 15-45mm kit lens is excellent at is vlog content creation. Paired with a small on-camera shotgun mic and a gimbal or GorillaPod, this setup is a vlogging beast. It’s no wonder so many YouTubers—some with several hundred thousand followers—use their EOS M50 as their primary run-and-gun rig.
Tumblr media
While the Canon’s mic preamp is slightly lacking, using this setup with both the Rode VideoMicro and the Takstar Sgc-598 provided plenty of decent quality audio capture. A little normalization and compression in post were all it took to get decent quality sound.

Is the M50 Mk II Durable?
It is, and I want to take a moment to focus on its durability. Now I admit, I am not the most careful person when it comes to my equipment. That’s why, when I managed to knock over my tripod not once but twice, with the M50 Mk II on top of it, I almost wound up on blood pressure meds.
Both times I thought I was going to scoop up a camera with some extreme damage. Maybe a broken viewfinder or a smashed touch screen.
Tumblr media
Well, I am happy to report that my Canon M50 Mk II doesn’t have a scratch on it. The lenses aren’t cracked or damaged, and the display is clear and sharp. The body of the camera looks like it was just taken out of the box.
There are really only two possibilities for why this is: either I’m lucky (and I certainly need to be more careful with my equipment) or, maybe the M50 Mk II is a pretty durable unit for even the most buttery of fingers.
What's Not to Love About the M50 Mk II?
After a few weeks using the M50 MK II, I can honestly say I have only a couple of complaints. First is the cropped image in 4K. While this camera is touted as a 4K camera and perfectly capable of recording in 4K, the sensor will dump a large portion of its field of view. This is an additional 1.6x crop over the APS-C crop of 1.6x (2.56x total). Also, while in the 4K mode, you lose Canon’s delicious dual pixel autofocus.
Tumblr media
This isn’t really a problem for me, as I don’t like shooting in 4K anyway. Even when I am creating content, I prefer to shoot at 24 FPS in 1080p full HD. Footage shot at 24 FPS has that cinematic look that I adore, and I can use the autofocus to make sure all of my shots are effortlessly tack sharp.
Second, on this list is the Canon iOS app. I hate it. It’s buggy, it’s clunky, it crashes often, and it constantly makes me reset the Wi-Fi settings of the camera to use my phone as a wireless display. The app drives me absolutely insane, and if any Canon app developers are reading—shame on you.
Tumblr media
Last on the list is the digital viewfinder. While it works well as a viewfinder, the sensor next to the viewfinder might give me an aneurysm. Whenever I am using the camera for Zoom meetings, I find the sensor will shut off the external display if it is near a reflective surface—namely, the watercolor painting hanging above my desk. Fortunately, this sensor can be disabled in the menu for the M50 Mk II.
Should You Buy the Canon EOS M50 Mk II?
I think you know the answer to this question by now. If you don’t, then get your credit card out; it’s time to do some camera buying. The original M50 was a great all-around camera. The Mark II adds several improvements aimed at content creators and vloggers. If you fit that description, and you can’t afford to spend $3,000 to improve your smartphone shots, then the M50 MK II is a great choice.
Tumblr media
If you are looking to start a YouTube channel, then the M50 Mk II has enough features to keep you busy for a while. You might eventually outgrow it, though some YouTubers continue with the M50 well into the six-figure subscriber counts.
If you need a camera that will allow you to level up your photographs, this is the camera to buy. And while you’re at it, think about upgrading from the kit lens to the Canon 32mm F1.4. It’s how I get most of my product photography shots. Finally, if you need a small and lightweight camera for taking on the road or for street photography, the M50 Mark II isn’t cumbersome and doesn’t draw a lot of attention.
On the other hand, if you’re a die-hard camera enthusiast who breathes shutter speeds, or if you can spot the difference between a nifty 50 and a 35mm at 300 yards, then you’re better off buying something a little more high-end. Additionally, if the thought of auto-anything makes you shudder (pun intended), then save up for a while and buy a Sony A7s III. You’ll be much happier.
Final Focus on the EOS M50 Mark II
Overall, the M50 Mk II is a delightful starter camera. Canon makes it easy for a total beginner to pick up the unit and get some great photos off the rip. That’s really what makes it excellent. It has a diverse range of functions for both budding photogs and experienced users alike. Unfortunately, it won’t compete with some of the more expensive models, but for regular people who want a camera that makes their photos look great without much effort, you can’t go wrong with the EOS M50 Mk II.
Ignore the crowd that says this camera is “disappointing.” It’s not. It just has a specific purpose, and what it is designed to do—namely, be an entry-level vlogging camera with excellent photo capability—it does well.
Though the M50 Mark II might not make you a YouTube star, it will help you get started.

Tech & vidya ramblings pt 2
Previous post here
WELL I’ve played a lot of stuff over the unequivocally shitastic year that has been 2020 and before diving ass first into 2021, I thought I’d do some housecleaning. I realize I didn’t really talk about software in the last post and hardware purchases were minimal this year so let’s get the latter out of the way first (pt 3 to follow with GAMESSSESSEESSS)
Tumblr media
I’d just received my Keychron K3 (above and not my pic) and while I’ll have to put it through its paces over time, I’m just...not feeling it? Here I thought low profile keyboards would feel like the chiclet keys of laptops (I’m typing on an ASUS Chromebook C302 which has quite an excellent feel and CrOS has a great layout), but they feel... not great? I’m coming from Outemu Brown switches on a Drevo Grammr (my first mech keeb) and while that one took quite a while to get used to (the transition from membranes was surprisingly rough for me, despite typing on old Macs and IBM mechanicals as a kid in school), I’m not sure if I’ll ever get used to the spongey feel of these. I got Keychron’s own optical black switches, thinking they’d be a nice intro to linear style switches, as the actuation force (50g) seemed in line with their browns. I admittedly do 90+% of my gaming with a gamepad these days and using a keyboard and mouse for gaming is moot, so I can’t really comment on how they feel (as linears are reputedly superior for gaming over tactile or clicky switches). So as a typist, I really rely on that springy feedback that I get from laptop chiclets or my browns which are just missing here, possibly because of a combination of these choices (choices that I entirely made myself, as a Kickstarter backer and a mechanical keyboard luddite). The shallowness of the key travel also compounds problems, leading to a lot of typing errors. Oh well. At least the keyboard itself is quite nice, and for the money I paid the feature set is quite nice to boot, even if the combination of parts were not what I wanted. Oh and buying a replacement set of keycaps (these are ABS afterall so I’m worried about fade over time) plus some orange or brown switches to alleviate the “spongeyness” (these are hot-swappable!) would cost me an eye-watering $60 USD (shipping is half of that). So, I’m stuck with these.
Tumblr media
I also picked up a keyboard from Havit, for a song at $60 Canadian off Amazon (above). Those come with knockoff Cherry blues, but with PBT pudding keycaps, a TKL layout while incorporating a numpad through FN layers, braided cord, true RGB, an aluminum deck and no garish gamery design (well, the typeface is gamery but not too obnoxiously so). Honestly that one has been a steal, and I’m getting some lowkey buyers remorse from my Keychron which costs twice as much and is possibly half as good for my needs.
Tumblr media
I’d nearly forgotten about this! I managed to pick up a DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment for its actual MSRP of ~$40 (instead of the crazy OOS markup of $100+) once it’d finally gone back in stock. Total impulse buy and I can’t say I’ve really made good use of it yet, but I’ll put it through its paces with games like DOOM Eternal, Titanfall 2 and maybe a Souls game (being able to pop Estus while doing a 360noscope spinnarooni is probably the use case I have in mind).
I will say that it makes your controller look like those silly extended drum mags on pistols (or are they called clips; sorry I’m Canadian and not a gun nut). The OLED display and key binding procedure is really nice and the assignments are stored in memory. Not sure about the additional battery drain as I always have mine plugged into USB but I will say that the audio passthrough for the 3.5mm jack is AWFUL. It makes your headphones sound like garbo which is almost enough to disregard this product entirely seeing as how I primarily rely on earbuds through the gamepad itself.
Oh and the buttons themselves feel really nice and crisp, with smooth, non grippy contours. Just wish the DualSense would’ve had this baked in to begin with, instead of silly gimmicks like the integrated mic and speaker.

Riotoro Aviator Classic Gaming Headset Review: Tried as well as True Design
Tumblr media
OUR VERDICT
The Riotoro Aviator Classic is most definitely comfy, and when it involves video gaming, the audio supplies a punch. We have worries regarding the best wireless headsets construct of high quality and long life.
FOR
Well-cushioned
Excellent audio isolation
Powerful bass
Does not compromise mid clearness
AGAINST
Loosened mic connection
Underwhelming finish
Audio does not have a richness
Can't shut off the digital border
A flash of bright red accent coloring. A vague throwback tribal design logo design. A COMPUTER outer birthing a remarkable similarity to one more item on the market. I predict a Riotoro.
The U.S.-based novice to COMPUTER gaming kit is making a huge press to broaden its variety lately, going deeper right into the COMPUTER situations and power supplies it went into the marketplace with yet additionally breaking out into pc gaming key-boards and video gaming mice, like the Riotoro Nadex. Yet can the firm make one of the best pc gaming headsets?
Stepping once again into the great unknown is the Riotoro Aviator Classic the company's very first COMPUTER pc gaming headset (also deals with PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch as well as mobile). Looks a little bit familiar though, does not it? There's more than a whiff of the very popular HyperX Cloud collection to it, which includes the popular HyperX Cloud Alpha.
Can we really anticipate similar levels of comfort as well as efficiency from the Aviator Classic? At $80 since writing, it's somewhat cheaper than the HyperX Cloud Alpha, which is usually concerning $100, yet significantly more than Corsair's excellent spending plan array HS50 and HS35 stereo cans. What do you obtain for the investment? Virtual 7.1 surround, a detachable mic, and the choice of USB or 3.5 mm input. While the headset nails the convenience classification, it has space to grow in others.

Style as well as Comfort
Allow's begin with comfort. Equally, as they show up, these are extremely well-padded and comfy canisters. The Aviator Classic's earcups use as thick a layer of memory foam extra padding as we've ever before seen on a headset as well as are ended up in leatherette. The contact pad product has a significant effect on the total noise of a headset, and I prefer leatherette for its great noise seclusion. Certain, textile cloth pads would supply greater breathability, but I'll take that compromise in favor of a secured limited chamber around my ears that allow those regularities to bounce around magnificently.
The Aviator Classic felt slightly larger on my head than the 11.9-ounce Cloud Alpha, which isn't especially light-weight itself. Fortunately, the quantity of support on the Aviator Classic's headband kept the pain at bay. It additionally helped that the headband is wide and also good, dispersing the weight over a bigger location, while the horizontal clamping force of the aluminum band attached the ear cups to my head firmly, yet happily. The elongated cups verified outstanding at audio isolation as well as exterior noise termination too.
The develop top quality and finish is where the Aviator Classic appears. The headband is adaptable and also worryingly lightweight; it definitely would not survive being mistakenly rested on. The steel joints, on the other hand, are a bit noisier than is the standard, and also the black surface looks rather fundamental, doing not have any of the cleanings you would certainly commonly see on in a similar way valued-- as well as even more affordable-- headsets. The earcups' matte finish likewise looks a little low-cost. Basically, after rolling these around in your hands for some time, you would certainly feel like these are spending plan containers.
A gold-banded 3.5 mm port connects to a red, knotted wire. I actually like the cord, regardless of my normal aversion to intense colors in gaming peripherals. That red cable then connects to either a longer USB cable with an inline control or a black splitter cord with 3.5 mm sound as well as a mic in links. Both mics, as well as quantity mute switches, get on the USB inline, yet they don't brighten when toggled, so it can sometimes be tricky to find out whether your mic's really broadcasting or otherwise. A little light right here would certainly have been handy to fix this.
Furthermore, the volume up and down switches only reduce or enhance volume by increments of two in Windows. The function's supposed to make it so it doesn't call for a lot of presses to make substantial quantity adjustments, but I found it to a tiny nuisance.
Advertisement
In enhancement, the digital 7.1 surround if you opt for a 3.5 mm link to your PC you shed out on the inline controls.
All in all, despite a few strange kinks, we're actually impressed by the comfort of this layout. As well as most importantly, it tees the Aviator Classic up for some great noise.
Audio Performance
Noise as well as comfort don't exist in separate vacuum cleaners. Perfectly the vehicle driver's tuned, nonetheless expertly the EQ formed, the factor of call around the ears often verifies the determining aspect in headphones. You'll lose the tightness and also strike of your bass and finish up with a murky noise if sound leakages out around the rim of the earcup. And that's the advantage of a design like the Aviator Classic. The foam pillows sit tight and also unbelievably snug without being awkward around the ears, developing a sealed chamber. Aviation-style earphone designs like that of Riotoro's cans are exceptional at this precise accomplishment, and if you map the line of inspiration back much sufficient, you end up back at the original QPad QH90s, which HyperX acquired the layout license to and ultimately constructed its Cloudline. As a matter of fact, the QPad looked at flight headsets, which pilots use in loud cockpits to communicate important information with ATC as well as the trip team, for its initial style.
You can see the connection. By shutting out exterior sound, aviation-style headphones submerse you in the sound you want to listen to, and what's more, they afford the regularities that construct those seems the space to resonate without running away. These Riotoro cans are as efficient this as any headset we've evaluated.
The headset is billed as offering virtual 7.1 surround noise. There's no toggle for the attribute, neither in software nor on the headset itself. Therefore, we can only reason that virtual border sound is constantly on when you're making use of the Aviator Classic.
During the screening, the low-end was available in strongly as well as specified, offering area for the mids to voice unimpeded. The highs come through fairly clearly too, as well as although the emphasis in the EQ curve is most definitely on producing that magnificent bass feedback, it's a clear adequate soundscape that you can play CS: GO, Apex Legends, or PUBG without the requirement to boost the audio of steps via software.
Compared to the slightly more expensive HyperX Cloud Alpha and also the HyperX Cloud II, the Aviator's audit result does not appear as abundant. It's refined, however there's a minor con to the whole sound that's specifically recognizable when paying attention to the music you're familiar with. It's similar audio to applying a software application EQ account-- outstanding in the beginning, however a touch excitable once your ears bed in as well as get utilized to it.
The accompanying software is very restricted and does not appear to offer any type of means of toggling the virtual 7.1 surrounds on or off, which's likely the culprit of that man-made ring to the noise. It would have been excellent to consist of an alternative to turn this off in order to tighten up the noise as well as eliminate that reverberant quality you usually get with digital surround formulas.
Inevitably, we're entrusted to a headset that sounds actually punchy in games however lacks just a little refinement to be taken into consideration for every little thing else.
The Aviator Classic's microphone sounded functional enough, however, it never appeared securely fastened when I attached it. There was worryingly little resistance when detaching it too, which opens the door to the possibility of knocking it loosened mid-game as well as going radio-quiet.
Software application
Riotoro gives its very own application for managing the Aviator Classic's settings, and also it's no looker. An extremely basic UI evocative the Windows XP glory days provides manual volume adjustment, private quantity adjustment on both right as well as left sides, a mic mute button, and gain a degree.
You additionally obtain a handful of presets, particularly Hi-fi, Movie, Music, and also Manual. These seem to change the EQ profile, however they're quite refined in their variant from each other.
Profits
We're not sure just how much rough and tumble it can take, however Riotoro's launching best wireless headsets likewise gets the feeling and also seem ideal out of the package.
Taking its hints from aviation-style headsets developed to block out external sound, the Aviator Classic uses generous padding to secure your ears in tight and after that pump some powerful, bass-heavy audio into them. We have worries regarding the loose mic link in our review example and worry that it'll endure some wear and tear after months of daily usage. As well as we likewise wish there was an option to turn off digital surround sound.
For alternatives, the HyperX Cloud Alpha isn't much more and is our most advised headset. as well as the Corsair HS60 Pro Surround shows solid develop top quality.

Jabra’s Elite Active 75t earbuds offer great value and sound for both workouts and workdays
Technology improvements over the past few years mean that most fully wireless earbuds are a lot better than they used to be. That has led to something of a narrowing of the field among competitors in this arena, but some of the players still stand out – and Jabra have definitely delivered a standout performer with its newest Elite Active 75t fully wireless earbuds.
Basics
Jabra’s Elite Active 75t is a successor to its very popular 65t line, with added moisture resistance designed specifically for exercise use, as indicated by the ‘Active’ in the name. At $199.99, these are definitely premium-priced – but they’re a lot more affordable than many of the other offerings in the category, especially with their IP57-water and sweat resistance rating.
The Elite Active 75t also feature an esteemed 7.5 hours of battery life on a single charge, and their compact charging case carries backup power that adds up to a total of 28 hours potential run time across a single charge for both. The case charges via USB-C and also offers a fast-charge capability that provides 60 minutes of use from just 15 minutes of charging.
While they don’t offer active noise cancellation, they do have passive noise blocking, and an adjustable passthrough mode so that you can tune how much of the sound of the world around you you want to let in – a great safety feature for running or other activities.
They use Bluetooth 5.0 for low power consumption and extended connection range, have an auto-pause and resume feature for when you take out one earbud, and include a 4-mic array to optimize audio quality during calls.
Design
Jabra has accomplished a lot on the design front with the Elite Active 75t. Their predecessor was already among the most compact and low-profile in-ear wireless buds on the market, and the Elite Active 75t is even smaller. These are extremely lightweight and comfortable, too, and their design ensures that they stay put even during running or other active pursuits. In my testing, they didn’t even require adjustment once during a 30-minute outdoor run.
Their comfort makes them a great choice for both active use and for all-day wear at the desk – and the 7.5 hours of battery life doesn’t seem to be a boast, either, based on my use, which is also good for workday wear.
Another key design feature that Jabra included on the Elite Active 75t is that both earbuds feature a large, physical button for controls. This is much better and easier to use than the touch-based controls found on a lot of other headsets, and makes learning the various on-device control features a lot easier.
Finally in terms of design, the charging case for the Elite Active 75t is also among the most svelte on the market. It’s about the size of two stacked matchboxes, and easily slides into any available pockets. Like the earbuds themselves, the case features a very slightly rubberized outer texture, which is great for grip but, as you can see from the photos, is also a dust magnet. That doesn’t really matter unless you happen to be tasked with photographing them, however.
One final note on the case design – magnetic snaps in the earbud pockets mean you can be sure that your headset buds are seated correctly for charging when you put them back, which is a great bit of user experience thoughtfulness.
Performance
It’s easy to see why the Jabra Elite Active 75t is already a favorite among users – they provide a rich, pleasant sound profile that’s also easily tuned through the Jabra Sound+ mobile app. Especially for a pair of earbuds designed specifically for active use, these provide sound quality that goes above and beyond.
Their battery life appears to line up with manufacturer estimates, which also makes them class-leading in terms of single charge battery life. That’s a big advantage when using these for longer outdoor activities, or, as mentioned, when relying on them for all-day desk work. Their built-in mic is also clear and easy to understand for people on the other side of voice and video calls, and the built-in voice isolation seems to work very well according to my testing.
In my experience, their fit is also fantastic. Jabra really seems to have figured out how to build a bud that stays in place, regardless of how much you’re moving around or sweating. It’s really refreshing to find a pair of fully wireless buds that you never have to even think about readjusting them during a workout.
Bottom Line
Jabra has done an excellent job setting their offering apart from an increasingly crowded fully wireless earbud market, and the Elite Active 75t is another distinctive success. Size, comfort and battery life all help put this above its peers, and it also boasts great sound quality as well as excellent call quality. You can get better sounding fully wireless earbuds, but not without spending quite a bit more money and sacrificing some of those other advantages.

Built for Durability, Bold Iconic Design
When a pair of NINES is constructed, each earphone is individually machined from a solid piece of high-density copper alloy, and then coated in titanium for added protection and brilliant, lasting finish. To combat stretching and shorting that causes most earphones to malfunction from normal wear and tear, NINES are built with a Kevlar reinforced copper wire and nylon cable cover along the entire length. This innovative process give NINES a versatile and tactical utility in all environments, while still maintaining their bold, premium aesthetics.
Re-Engineered for an Enhanced Acoustic Experience
The combination of the Bass Enhancing Chamber, custom tuned Sound Flow System, powerful 9mm neodymium dynamic drivers, and high density housings redefine the standard for in-ear sound quality. NINES deliver a detailed, enveloping sound: thundering bass, smooth mids and crystal clear highs with low distortion and minimal ear fatigue, especially at higher volumes.
Mobility for a Modern Lifestyle
NINES utilitarian design was drafted to support mobile communication for both professionals and audio enthusiasts serious about music. Experience exceptional clarity with precision machined 3 button Suppressor [M]ic Control for Apple Devices, aided by a 24K gold plated 3.5mm stereo plug for solid connection and superior music playback on all leading smart phones and tablets.
Individual Comfort and Increased Noise Isolation
Silicone Hollow Points, MUNITIO’s patent-pending tip technology, provide a secure fit, tighter seal, increasing noise isolation and accentuated bass. Ensuring the NINES stay securely in place in any situation, each pair comes with 3 different sized tips (small, medium, large), ear-hooks, and cable clip.
