In which a random Twitter thread justly 🙄 R&J anti clownery brings its own anti clownery. Also, Tumblr proves to be just as dumb about R&J as the rest of the Internet, surprise, surprise. Sometimes I am a beggar, and other times I dine richly. Let’s get to it!

True, love can be devastating. Except that R&J’s love was not destructive. It is arguably the healthiest (and most passionate) relationship of equals in all of Shakespeare’s canon. Their love did not destroy them; it was society and fate that fucked them over.

I have no idea where this anti dumb misreading of Romeo getting made fun of for how quickly he falls in love comes from, and frankly by this point I don’t want to know.

Mercutio mocks him for his love for Rosaline, and tells him to get laid instead. Not a single word about how quick he is to fall in love. Actually, you get the impression that this is the first time Romeo has ever done anything like this. Benvolio and the parents are alarmed and even Mercutio gets a little worried, calling Rosaline “a pale, hard-hearted wench” for messing up his bro.

“A real love story” and “Stupid teenage relationship that resulted in six deaths” is some hot ice right there.

Tell me you missed the lesson on oxymorons in English class without telling me you missed the lesson on oxymorons in English class.

The problem with all these condescending and honestly fake “defenses” is not just that they make no sense but that they are basically non-canonical. The play has a strong positive bias towards Romeo and Juliet and the depiction of their love is one of the strongest in Shakespeare’s canon.

If Shakespeare wanted us to take them as dumb horny teenagers, then he shouldn’t have given them a courtship arc in the first place or the most beautiful verse in the whole play. He should have just begun the play with them already in love and deciding to marry. The focus should have been on the feud. But of course that was not Shakespeare’s intention in the first place. Otherwise he would have never made R&J the main characters.

Tell me you don’t know what the word “pretentious” is without telling me you don’t know what the word “pretentious” is. Jesus Christ, how could you say Hamlet and Macbeth are not pretentious but Romeo and Juliet is? What does the latter even “pretend” to say? It’s a story about two teens in love and people killing each other ffs.

Collins wouldn’t know how to write a love story or a romantic arc if it bit her in the ass. She is even less of a romance writer than even Rowling.

While they would be awed by the main base and its various facilities and mecha, the inhabitants in general, including the incredibly unhinged flora and fauna, unnerve them, especially the girls. But DK though? She would definitely explore the entire island, from biomes to altars to the sanctuary, while exercising caution.

At first, both DK and North weren't interested in Roblox, until they saw screenshots of Dress to Impress and pet games like Adopt Me and Pet Simulator. The girls play the aforementioned games too after their mama introduced them.

What would your OCs do with the mistletoes? In general. Would they catch their s/o by surprise or do they have a plan? (A crazy plan would be covering the entire ceiling with mistletoes which might escalate into bedroom activities) - @msbiaxalblanc

DK makes the mistletoe hanging over the bed in her room invisible with a bit of magic, so her boyfriend would not know when they make out in bed. As for North, she hangs it behind the main entrance of her house, so she could kiss her hubby on the cheeks and lips when he returns, as they do on any other day. Even though Dionel noticed the pattern in both verses, he does not object to kissing under the mistletoe.

Now comes the spicy part. As we all know, the man is a switch top, with a little more to the dom side. And being a Celestial, his stamina is infinite, bedding his lovers again and again without wearing himself out. Of course, knowing them, he would stop when they become exhausted.

HARLEEN QUINZEL

harleen f quinzel, better known as harley quinn is originally from detective comics but she has been reworked and fashioned into my own little horror oc icon.

harley was an extremely smart and capable young woman who’s mind simply would not shut up. she would think and think and think , constantly having new and exciting theories about the people in her life , the people on the news , and people in general. this theory led to her college thesis , ‘ there are only two circumstances in which a person would completely disregard the rules of society ; when committing a crime , and when in love ‘. in an attempt to prove her theory , an incident occurred in which her long term boyfriend was killed. it is unknown whether she killed him or he killed himself. this entire situation fueled her thoughts and proved , to herself if no one else , that she was right.

throughout college , harley had become obsessed with the joker. she would comb over any interview given that was about him , watch his videos over and over again , and spend days imagining what he would say if she ever was about to speak with him. it was her number one career goal.

after graduating university and getting her PHD , harley’s first stop was arkham asylum. she knew that they were lousy with keeping doctors on staff , and that meant she could possibly get in good with them enough to grant her access to the clown. nearly six months after being hired on at the asylum , her dreams came true and she was allowed to meet with the joker. the first few sessions were uneventful , the joker refusing to speak to her or sometimes even acknowledge her. after a while , though , he started to warm up to her. it wasn’t long before the two had started having an affair. less than a month later , harley helped the joker escape arkham asylum.

her license was revoked and once she left the hearing that decided her fate , harley transformed from quiet and brunette trained therapist to blonde bombshell harlequin.

short and sweet verses :

alternate verse 1 , mad love. harley and joker are in a severely toxic relationship and neither are sad about it. harley knows what she’s gotten herself into and she’s okay with it. she is a member of the gotham rogue’s gallery and the gotham city sirens. she is forever the joker’s right hand woman and nobody can tell her a single thing about it. shipping unavailable to any muse that isn’t the joker. faceclaim for this verse is samara weaving.

main dc verse , suicide squad , after being locked away in arkham asylum for more than a year and realizing that the joker had abandoned her , harley decided that they were broken up. she had had enough. he was the reason she was there , ten times over , and he’d done enough to ruin her life. it’s time to take it back. amanda waller offered a position on a task force , and there was no good reason not to take it. harley would never be a good guy , even anti hero was pushing it , but she could do something that was all her own.

main horror verse , dbd and other slasher settings , a disgraced psychologist ends up being locked in with her past patients after having what results in a psychotic break. after a year of incarceration, harley decided to break free from her chains to wreak some havoc.

What Is Righteous

Whumpril 2024 April 1, 2024 LIMP Tyler Bateman/Savannah O'Ryan (Original Character) Main Verse

These new friends her Vincent found himself surrounded with were not exactly the kind of men that made Savannah O'Ryan comfortable. Maybe it was because she was still stuck on how exactly Vincent had joined up with said new friends. The betrayal of the man she loved against her brother, TK O'Ryan, and the man she considered a brother, Matt Taven, had been something that broke her at the core. Meeting these new friends had not been any better. But Savannah was a bleeding heart, so seeing anyone who needed a home tugged at her heartstrings.

Tyler Bateman reminded Savannah of a Victorian gentleman in a way. It was in the way he carried himself, using a cane to work as a fashion statement instead of a support. The top hat he wore added to the mystique, though she knew it was all in the mustache. The way it twisted at both ends, as if curled perfectly, stood out to the young manager. It made Tyler unique, even alongside the larger of Vincent's new friends, a simple man by the name of Dutch, and even Vincent himself. It was that uniqueness that almost always drew her attention when he was around. That wasn't the case tonight.

Vincent, acting as the benevolent leader of his new team The Righteous, had chosen Bateman as the representative for the team in the annual Survival of the Fittest tournament. If Bateman could qualify, could make his presence felt, it would undoubtedly lead to glory for the team. The problem was that Bateman had lost to Bandido, had not moved on to the qualifier. The honor was lost and Vincent was not pleased. Before he had led Dutch and Savannah to the ring, she had tried to plead with him. "Vincent, darlin', please. He's your friend, ain't he? You ain't gotta be mad at him..."

Vincent had simply given her the smile that did not reach his eyes, carding a hand through her wavy blonde hair, "I gotta do what has to be done, Vannah. Ya dig what I'm sayin'?"

Now here the three stood, circled around Bateman who sat looking dejected in the center of the ring.

"You know I would never lie to you like the rest of society, man," Vincent began, sitting down cross-legged on the mat next to Bateman, "I know you were born with the devil in ya. I mean, that's why I gave you the mission, man. And you've done amazing! You've done such a good job! But on my journey alongside the orange sunshine, I had a moment of clarity, and I've realized what's been important to me now. And that's the Ring of Honor World Championship."

He had sounded happy for a moment. Savannah stood in the corner, watching the tears in Bateman's eyes. He really had done well, despite his loss. Dutch stood behind Bateman, never faltering, never wavering. Savannah often wondered if the former clown knew more than he let on in situations like these. Vincent's hand reached out to touch the openly sobbing Bateman's shoulder and Savannah expected a moment of praise. Her blood ran cold the moment Vincent spoke again.

"But ya failed me..."

Savannah moved forward and whispered to her beau, "He's upset enough. You-"

Vincent cut her off with a look. The message was clear. This message needed to be passed on, it served a purpose, and she was not to interrupt again. "Death," Vincent continued as he glanced back at Bateman, "is the greatest form of love."

Tyler raised his arms, outstretched to either side, and closed his eyes. Savannah was confused until Vincent glanced from her to the man offering himself as a martyr. Vincent expected her to attack, to be the first nail to the cross. Wordlessly, her blue eyes welled up with pleading tears. She wanted to beg, to ask why they had to sacrifice a friend, but the look in Vincent's eyes was a demand. They had to do this, for the cause.

She had to do this for him.

Savannah booted Tyler in the face, the sole of the black snakeskin boots she always wore landing hard against his cheek. She knelt over the top of him, one hand on his neck and the other throwing weak punches. She wasn't a fighter. She shouldn't be doing this. "I'm sorry," she mouthed at the limp body beneath her, at the friend who offered no fight. Vincent pulled her away after a moment, wrapping his arms around her from behind. Dutch finally moved, pulling Bateman's limp body into a standing position and wrenching his head back to expose Bateman's throat.

"This is what failure brings," Vincent whispered in her ear, pressing a kiss to her hair as Dutch lifted the man for a spinning slam to the hard canvas of the mat, "This is what failing you brings."

She was crying openly now, one of her hands on her red painted lips, "I don't...I don't understand. Why...he's our friend..."

"He's a sacrifice for my goddess," Vincent chuckled, "he will come back better. Stronger."

Vincent let go of her, crossing to exit the ring with Dutch. Savannah knelt at Tyler's side, holding his limp hand in her own. This wasn't right. None of this was right. She slid the flower crown she wore from her head, laying it against Tyler's chest before pressing a tender kiss to his forehead. It may not have been right, but that act of kindness was the least she could do.

Knowing that his power is very limited, that Pennywise will return much earlier being unsatisfied thanks to the Losers’ meddling and that Georgie wishes to keep everyone alive, Mat the Turtle sends Georgie before IT’s return to gather the Losers and help them destroy the alien menace. Georgie’s biggest obstacle will not be the alien, but rather convincing his brother and his old friends that the 18-year-old is the 7-year-old that got eaten by the alien they forgot about. Fix-it fic for the movies-verse! All of the Losers are in their 20’s and Georgie is 18 and back by Turtle Magic. Remember when Sideshow Bob had a standpoint, a believes he built his act upon? Media figure, an entertainer with desire to nourish young minds via TV programming, instead of churning out brain-numbing content, he went the route of well-intended extremist and ultimately was condemned by one child, in whom he recognized fellow black sheep, unacknowledged prodigy who gets reduced to the role of clown. Isn’t it tragic his potentially most appreciative audience turned to be his archenemy, and aforementioned philosophy of children’s equality pushed him to seek full-blown revenge on the kid? There’s a lot of laugh and eccentricity in figure of Bob, his obsession with implementing theatrical drama and inspired pathos in every move – he’s more of a vaudeville villain than high-cultured maniac, but a bitter irony to his motives too. He’s too charismatic and full of passion to his real vocation to be seen as genuine treat, but rather as one colorful foe, or possibly, frenemy, that Bart tends to attract and developing rather spirited relationships with all his adversaries, all lonely souls whose true potential gets stifled by their environment, not unlike himself. Whole “HMS Pinafore” segment is showcasing brilliant chemistry between two. (Premise is, by the way, a riff on the fable about the little goat and the wolf: the goat demands the wolf to play flute for him as last wish, which attracts the dogs, so as in the episode, vanity for his talents is what befalls the villain.)

What about episode itself, it was one that solidified my growing appreciation for the series, while on later rewatching and after getting more versed into the series, I don’t think it’s really perfect: it pads the story a lot with random filler material, while all best episodes connect its side gags with main theme, and better of gags are centered on Bob’s person, which really shines here even without need of prefacing it with history of his and Bart’s feud. (I happened watching it before season 1, so was only familiar with character on surface, but episode does great work in refreshing and detailing his personality, as light-weight as its goes, compared to “Krusty Gets Busted”.) So, where it does shine, it’s in character-building department yet again, creating endearing individuals you want to know better and interpersonal relationships you want to see developed further.
