Rosemary, since youre the one who got me to listen to more PinocchioP recently, I'd love to know what your favorites of his are if you'd like to share :3
HEHE….. strap in this might get a little long. i like his music a lot. gonna start with my top favorites and then just throw other ones onto the pile from there
nobody makes sense - probably my top favorite. LOVE a good "life has no meaning so we have to create meaning" theme, and the visuals are beautiful. i'm buried in a garbage heap, looking up at the stars...
nice to meet you, people of earth (my own translation of the title lol) - ALWAYS MAKES ME EMOTIONAL. the strengths and faults of humanity viewed through the eyes of a hopeful outsider...
loveit - a quiet melancholy one about easily getting sucked into self-destructive relationships... and the mv is beautiful
anonymous m - best of his recent work imo. LOVE a good meta exploration of hatsune miku as a character or not-character
lonely ufo - one of the first songs of his i ever heard. makes me emotional...
ghosts play to the audience - really interesting song about creative integrity vs crowd-pleasing as an artist and the unclear boundary between the two. also about ghosts! and it bangs!
yozurina - a song about the uncertainty and attachment of long-distance love. dawn comes again...
vocaloid is lame - a melancholy song about dealing with haters of one's work that sort of turns into a classic pino-p "finding optimism in the midst of your sadness" thing. the high note on the astronaut line always makes me tear up a bit
everything about animals - duet between miku and pino-p himself! "there's tigers, horses, deer, working adults, livestock, monkeys, you who once raised your first cry..."
it's a festival, hey come on! - i only checked this one out recently because of the creative mixed-media mv and it took a while to grow on me but now i think the chorus is so catchy. flashing lights cw
tonchinkan feast - possibly the first of his songs i ever heard. kind of an oddball but i love the creative mv. my party trick is i can sing this from memory. if you listen to it you'll understand why it's a party trick
motivation is dead - THEE depression song
god-ish - i'm sorry vocaloid community for putting this one so far down the list i just thought of a bunch of other ones first. this one got so crazy popular it shows up in "all time miku songs" tribute art. kind of wild. i was there when it dropped, who'da known...
magical girl and chocolate - another recent one that got popular although not to the insane degree of god-ish. when i find a toku character to apply this to it's over for you guys
non-breath oblige - forgot about this one for a bit but it's so good it makes me emotional. wish it was humanly possible to sing
and i'm just gonna throw ultimate senpai, what's inside, kick ass literally, nee nee nee, and mushroom mother onto the pile real quick before this gets too long. you've already seen 404, apple dot com, what yama says goes, last continue, reincarnation apple and common world domination from my other post so i didn't write up a blurb for any of those but those are some classic favorites of mine too, especially the first three. NOW as if this post wasn't long enough here are some collabs and stuff of his i like:
i'm a controversy by ado - vocals by ado, written and produced by pino-p. aka THE FUCKING DREAM TEAM EVER. this song expresses ado's conflicted reaction to the controversy she's generated with the social criticism in her music. imo THEE best song to come out of the voca-p adjacent circle this year. mv goes hard too
(not) a devil - collab with deco*27, another insanely popular voca-p, possibly the most insanely popular one currently active. as you can imagine this one made quite a splash. i like duet collabs like this because you can hear the difference in how each artist tunes their miku. pino-p's muted soft-spoken miku ftw
gorgeous big conversation - collab with utsu-p, a less popular but still fairly big voca-p known for his signature heavy metal sound which you can hear in this song. i love the lyrics of this one they are silly and surreal, i wish this video was subbed. shoutout to internet comedian arufa who is the guy in the video, he also provided the human voice in anonymous m. you may know him from this video which got popular on tumblr
ok hope this wasn't too long :) enjoy!!! also, i put these in no particular order, but if you pay attention to the upload dates think it's interesting to see how the style evolves over time. also did you know the art is done by pino-p himself :) with some exceptions obviously but that distinctive style you see always popping up is done by him
#going through the official channel made me realize how many pino-p songs i haven't listened to yet#i should fix that#✉️#doomednarrative

Let's continue with our Spring/Summer Series
#199 - Ike Renka (Lelele-P) [Kagamine Len]
Achievement Date: 15-02-07, Upload Date: 08-03-31
A really early Len song, it’s actually the second of the six part Renka series, although the only one on this list. It has some tuning problems, but the low voice actually mask the problem, and the lyrics are a bit formal but also kind of sweet, it’s not bad.
#200 - Shinkai Summit (DECO*27) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 15-02-08, Upload Date: 09-07-28
And 200th goes to DECO*27, of course. A lot more from him as time goes on. This early song brings the angsty but with a bouncy Ai Kotoba like progression, which is really interesting, and the song kind of vacillates between sweet and spiky.
#201 - Common World Domination (Pinocchio-P) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 15-02-13, Upload Date: 12-06-18
I think this is the song that really sets the PincocchioP style, the tuning really reminds me of n-buna, that light and fragile sound that is very different from what we heard before, but a style that wouldn’t be too out of place nowadays. And the lyrics presented in this style makes the song… almost melancholic at times? I really like it.
#202 - Blooming the Idol (Mitchie M) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 15-02-14, Upload Date: 12-12-14
Sounds like an ED to an idol anime. I think it’s typical of Mitchie M, he’s not trying to excel himself or anything here, which makes this song just… passable, honestly. Perhaps I have a bit too much of an expectation and these kinds of songs should be praised a bit more… I also think it’s the most moody Mitchie M song… ever?
#203 - Orange (Tohma) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 15-02-20, Upload Date: 12-12-20
A rare ballad from Tohma. I actually don’t like this song very much. The tuning is too quiet for a rock ballad, you know rock ballad requires power to really carry the emotion, and this song is very emotional, since it’s about the last days, kind of?
#204 - Regret Message (mothyP) [Kagamine Rin]
Achievement Date: 15-03-11, Upload Date: 08-05-25
The direct sequel to the Evil duo, and honestly one of the better songs in the Evilicious series. I think it’s because it’s more focused since it’s more of an append to the two songs from before and focuses more on the emotion of the characters.
#205 - Toumei Elegy (n-buna) [GUMI]
Achievement Date: 15-03-23, Upload Date: 13-02-19
And this n-buna’s entry into the list, this is n-buna leaning to the Big Three at the time, although the breeziness that n-buna is known for is still there, especially with that swingy and airy chorus. This is GUMI at her farthest away, I think.
#206 - Umiyuri Kaiteitan (n-buna) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 15-03-24, Upload Date: 14-02-24
Now, this is the song that defines n-buna, right from the get-go. A bit abstract, but certainly a more happy song than the lot, this song is kind of like nothing other, its structure is very much different from what we had before, and I don’t think there wasn’t anyone that really jumped the game like n-buna, except for Hachi, honestly, which probably why they are two of the biggest game in J-Pop right now.
#207 - High Sense Nonsense (MOL.) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 15-03-29, Upload Date: 09-04-19
Definitely one of the songs that you’ll find in the darker corners of the internet. Like, this song bloodily drills itself into the brainstem, and might have nightmares afterwards. I’m sorry to end the post with the song, but there you go, in the end.

ARR AU for Healin’ Good and Kira Kira Pretty Cure!
So I recently became a HUGE fan of Pretty Cure, and I thought of this ARR AU where the characters of Healin’ Good and Kira Kira Pretty Cure are put in the roles of various ARR characters!
The Onmyouji:
· Nodoka Hanadera: Onmyouji of the sakura. Her two familiars are the rabbit youkai sisters Ichika and Rabirin.
· Chiyu Sawaizumi: Onmyouji of the water lily. Her two familiars are Himari the tanuki and Pegitan the tengu.
· Hinata Hiramitsu: Onmyouji of the sunflower. Her two familiars are Aoi the nue and Nyatoran the nekomata.
The Familiars:
· Ichika: A rabbit youkai. She is one of Nodoka’s familiars and also her girlfriend.
· Rabirin: Ichika’s little sister. She is also Nodoka’s familiar.
· Himari: A tanuki. She is one of Chiyu’s familiars and also her girlfriend.
· Pegitan: A very young tengu who is also Chiyu’s familiar.
· Aoi: A nue. She is one of Hinata’s familiars and also her girlfriend. Aoi hides her nue nature from almost everyone; only her friends know what youkai she really is.
· Nyatoran: A nekomata kitten. He is Hinata’s other familiar who masquerades as her pet cat.
The Kitsune Clan:
· Akira: The only child of the late chieftain of the kitsune clan. She and her sister are being raised by their aunt, Teatine. Akira is also training to be chieftain. She and her family (except Byogen) are friends and allies of the three onmyouji and their familiars.
· Yukari: Akira’s valet and girlfriend, a nekomata. She was abandoned by her parents and raised by Daruizen’s parents, who were murdered by Byogen when they confronted him about his cruel magical experiments on Yukari. After that, Yukari left the Senkitai and went to live with Akira and her family.
· Miku: Akira’s little sister. She is sickly and Akira is very protective of her.
· Teatine: Akira’s aunt. She is the youngest child of three, with the oldest being Akira’s father, the late chieftain, and the middle child being their traitorous brother Byogen. When Akira’s parents mysteriously died, Teatine became the guardian of Akira and her sister. Teatine also has a daughter, Ratte.
· Ratte: Teatine’s daughter. She is a little girl, like Miku, and Akira is also protective of her.
· Asumi: A tsukumogami harp belonging to Teatine. She is actually Fuu, a human onmyouji Teatine had a contract with, who reincarnated in the harp after her death so she could continue to protect Teatine and Ratte. Upon reincarnation, she lost her past life memories (though she has since recovered some), and Ratte gave her the name “Asumi,” since she asked for a new name.
· Byogen: Akira’s uncle. He is the younger brother of Akira’s father and the older brother of Teatine. Byogen betrayed the kitsune clan and joined the Senkitai, which he corrupted. He was seemingly killed and is officially dead, but in reality he is still alive. He also murdered Akira’s parents and Daruizen’s parents, and experimented on Yukari.
The Senkitai:
· Daruizen: A jorougumo who is the current leader of the Senkitai, since Byogen is missing, presumed dead. Daruizen’s parents were opposed to Byogen’s cruelty towards humans and youkai alike, but Byogen murdered them and lied to Daruizen that the Meiji government did it. Since then, Daruizen has hated humans. He aims to make a world where youkai can live without fear from humans.
· Shindoine: A yuki-onna; Daruizen’s second in command. Like Daruizen, she developed a hatred of humans due to Byogen’s lies and to the times humans really have persecuted youkai.
· Guaiwaru: A kamai-tachi. The Meiji military murdered his family, and he wanted revenge, so he approached Daruizen and joined the Senkitai.
Story: Nodoka, Chiyu and Hinata are young onmyouji, about 13-14 years old, and they each have a contract with two youkai. One of each onmyouji’s familiars is her age and in a relationship with her onmyouji, while the other three familiars are children and look up to the onmyouji as big sisters. The girls’ families know they are onmyouji and about the existence of youkai, but they keep it secret because the Meiji government has outlawed onmyoudo. They are allied with the 17-year-old kitsune Akira and her family, as well as their friends Asumi and Yukari, and fighting against the youkai organization Senkitai, who hate humans and want to create a world where youkai dominate humans, and are unleashing wraiths and mind-controlling youkai into attacking humans. The Senkitai are led by Daruizen, Shindoine, and Guaiwaru, three youkai who aren’t that much older than the onmyouji. Nodoka and her friends also want a world where youkai aren’t oppressed by humans, but they don’t want either to rule over the other; they want youkai and humans to live as equals in peace. The Senkitai currently think this ideal is impossible, partly because some of the cruelty to youkai they knew of, including the murder of Daruizen’s parents, was actually committed by Akira’s traitorous uncle Byogen, who pinned all his crimes on the Meiji government.
Note: “Byogen” is meant to be King Byogen (who is in the role of Keijiro), but the “King” is dropped since he isn’t a king here, just an evil kitsune.

Beautiful Flower
omfg this is like, the longest oneshot i’ve ever written in any fandom so yall better appreciate it. Fic is based from Flower of the Plateau by Hatsune Miku because i’m unoriginal and set in a kinda gang au universe so obv it involves some death and stuff.
Pairing: Terrornuckel/Terrorknuckel/Terrormoo Characters: Terroriser, Moo, Vanossgaming, Mini Ladd, and some other characters that only get mentioned. Rating: T+
If you look at Brock, all you could see is an ordinary florist.
The man moved from the city to a quiet, peaceful little town months ago. He quickly adapted to the new environment and built a little flower shop in that town. The flowers in his shop are always so beautiful and neatly arranged. In no time, the shop became popular among the townspeople. Brock's sweet and caring nature also helped boosting his popularity.
Brock became so popular and liked, the townspeople dubbed him as a 'Flower'. Just like the beautiful, delightful flowers he handled.
His charm even attracted a local man into dating him. Brian, the town's baker, had been eyeing the florist since he first appeared in the town. He would visit Brock's flower shop almost everyday to talk with him and give him free food that he made especially for him (although he didn't say that to Brock).
At first, Brock didn't know why Brian would gave him so many (delicious) cakes or pastries and talked with him for hours. Their talk is mostly filled about their favorite games, activities, business, and sometimes Brian would talk about his brother (who he always dubbed as 'Irish potato') who is currently in an 'ambiguous relationship' with his American 'friend'. He admit though, he’s always looking forward to spend more time with him. He likes to talk with the younger male, and the pastry Brian made is the best one he ever had.
It took a few weeks after that to make the florist realized that the happiness and the pleasure he felt when he saw Brian's face, when he talked with the baker, or when he heard him laugh or groans because of his (terrible) puns, is what they called 'Love'.
He never had this feeling for someone before, especially for a guy. He didn't know what to do.
Thankfully, a week later, Brian decided to just man up and ask the other guy out. When they both talked about the new battle royale game they've been addicted to after Brock closed his shop, the baker prepared himself mentally to ask him out. He looked nervous, red blush decorating his face as he grabbed both of Brock's palms gently. His heart pounded so hard in chest while his mind’s channeling courage to say the words. "I... You... D-Do you want to go on a date with me?"
Brock's heart was filled with glee as he heard those confession coming from his crush. His face flushed to bright red as he nodded. "Of course, dummy."
Brian's expression changed from surprise to relief and joy. The baker leaned closer over the counter and planted a soft kiss on Brock's lips, before leaning back while mumbling apology for kissing him so suddenly.
Brock, however, pulled Brian closer and kissed him back. The kiss went more than a soft, gentle kiss. It was heated and intense, tongue dancing for dominance as Brian deepened the kiss. It would be a problem if someone walked into Brock's shop and see them making out, but they didn't care. They both are lost in their own world, together and full of love. That's all they cared about right now.
The news about them dating was spreading out quick, since it's only a little town. So many townspeople congratulating them and are happy for them, wishing their relationship will be so much more as the time pass. Some of the townspeople however, was kinda angry at Brian (because of jealousy, they also want to be as lucky as him).
Brock was happy.
Because nobody in that town knew about the sins he did.
You see, the man actually has a secret.
Brock WAS a member of an influential gang in a city far from the town. Almost everyday, he would commit crimes numerous times along with his comrade. Killing, stealing, deceiving so many people for their own needs, and other illegal things... it's all what they do. Even the cops are kneeling under them. It's not that like he liked doing it. He had no other options besides obeying what his 'leader' told him to. All because his parents had sold him to them, his own parents who’s supposed to care for him. It's a hell on Earth for him.
Everyday they will tell Brock what he must do. And before Brock did the job, he would convince himself that all his victim deserves it. That all his victims are a bunch of bad people, people who are sinful and unforgivable. And the gang is what 'punishment' for them. It's a little thing that made Brock felt that he was different from those cold-blooded, violence-thirsty maniacs.
He knew he's just being pathetic, being in denial. After all, there's no way in hell he can justify them (and as much Brock hated it, 'him') killing a child. Just because that child was born from someone who’s considered a 'threat' to 'them’. And that's only one example of many viscious things he did.
Time passed.
As Brock did what they told to, he began to feel his sanity slipping away. The cruel things he did, the thing he saw, all of it began to affect him. It drove him mad, and if he stayed longer, he would lose his emotions, something that differentiates him from the rest of the gang. Brock didn't want that to happen. He didn't want to be one of them. So he did what he was supposed to do from a long time ago.
He ran away.
He traveled far from the city, living in fear and paranoia of the gang capturing and killing him. Eventually, he arrived in the small little town, hoping that it's far enough for the gang to not track him down. In that town, he began to settle down. Opening a little flower shop from what left of his money to start a new life. A new life where he would finally be happy and free.
That's the story of his past, the sins he tried so hard to hide from the townspeople, especially Brian.
If you think about it, it's not really his fault. He was forced to be one of them, and he really didn't want to do anything they told him to. But the townspeople definitely would freak out and possibly banish him, because they don't want to risk some sadistic people coming to their town.
So he buried his past deep inside him. Hoping nobody would know, and his blissful life would continue forever. After all, a flower has to be beautiful, right? It must not be 'unsightly'.
Weeks has passed since Brock accepted Brian's confession. Nothing really changed between them, they would still spend time together like they always did. But the difference is, now Brian (or him) can kiss the other whenever they want, sometimes the kiss would even turned into something more 'intimate'. They also have their little 'date' every Sunday night.
The older man’s always looking forward to the time he spend together with the younger man. It made him bleaming with happiness and pleasure. This is the life he wanted, a normal life surrounded with someone who cares about him and loves him.
However, something different happened one day.
It's said that a new face had arrived in the town. This stranger also came from the city, although they don't really know which city he is from. Brock is curious, so he decided to meet the stranger after closing his shop. He spotted the stranger in a bar and, as a good man he is, prepared to give the stranger a warmth welcome like the townspeople did to him.
When he looked at that stranger however, he is shocked. That stranger, is someone familiar to him. Someone who knew about his past, about his sins.
It's someone from the gang he feared. A young male by the name 'Vanoss'.
The guy smiles at him when he spotted the dumbfounded Brock, his hand signaling the florist to sit in front of him while his other hand grabbed a glass of alcohol.
"What are you doing here?!" Brock's voice is low like a whisper as he take the seat in front of Vanoss. He glanced to the left and right, worried someone might overheard their conversation. But the other townspeople looked like they're having a pleasant conversation themselves, and not sparing the two of them a glance.
Vanoss just shrugs. "Drinking." he replied before sipping alcohol into his mouth.
Brock realized that the other's eyes looks tired, as if he haven't fall asleep in days. No, he looks tired in general. And if this guy in front of him isn't a maniac from the malicious gang he hates, he would shower him with compassion and concern.
"That is definitely not the only reason you're here right now." Brock's remark made the young guy tugged the side of his lips upwards, forming a mischievious smirk that Brock used to see in his past. He can feel a sense of fear slowly creeping through his body.
"I see you've built a pretty good life here, Moo." he sips another alcohol, ignoring Brock cringing at the name. "A cute little flower shop and someone to keep you company. You're lucky."
Brock didn't answer. It's been a long time since he talked, or even met Vanoss. Just when he finally got the happiness he was searching for, a ghost from his past had to show up. A past that he intended to bury deep inside. His anxiety and fear began to pilling up more as he prepared himself for what Vanoss’ going to say after this. Is he gonna take him back? Is he gonna kill him?
Neither of that is heard from Vanoss' mouth however, but it is something that made him jolted in surprise. "Don't worry, Moo. We're the same. I also ran away from them."
"Wait, what?"
"Yeah." the younger guy nodded. "I think it's been two or three weeks since I escaped."
The answer didn't satisfy the older male, however. Against his fear, he decided to press further. "But, why?"
When the expression on Vanoss' face turned into anger, Brock regretted asking him that. The grip on the glass of alcohol he held tightened, Brock pretty sure the glass cracked. "Those son of bitches murdered someone important to me."
The young guy took a deep breath before he started explaining. "I fell in love with this guy. I didn't even know how, but when I saw him... my mind is filled with him. And my heart just, skipped a beat whenever I heard his voice or saw him. There's a strange feeling in my chest when our fingers met, or when I saw his pretty blue eyes. You know that feeling, yes?"
Brock thought about his same experience with Brian and he nodded. For the first time ever, Brock sees a small smile formed on Vanoss' face. A normal, happy smile of someone reminiscing his pleasant memories. But then, he glanced down. Expression changed into sadness, something that Brock never saw before on Vanoss' face either.
"The problem is, he's a police officer. Someone who’s working on the side of Justice. Someone who 'they' absolutely hate. They found out about him and they just... put a bullet in his head. I didn't even had a chance to say..."
Vanoss stopped, taking a big sip of alcohol before he let out a long sigh. "I had enough, and I just ran away. I'm not going to do whatever shit they told me to after that bullshit. Fuck them, they all can rot in hell for all I care."
Brock gave him a look of pity. The soft side of him wanted to wrap the guy in front of him in a hug, giving him a comforting words. But then he remembered that this guy is also a murderer, a thief, basically a criminal. A monster from 'that gang'.
'Cruel' side of him wanted to say, "That's karma for you" but Brock is too nice to tell Vanoss that. Vanoss would definitely kill him if he said that anyway.
"What are you going to do now?" Brock asked, and another smirk plastered on the guy's face.
"Well, I see you’re already settled pretty nice here. This town is full of good people, huh? I got this free alcohol from that friendly guy right there to welcome me, and as a 'gift' because I looked 'like a zombie'." He pointed his now empty glass towards the blindfolded male behind the counter, who is giving a kiss to the bearded guy beside him.
Brock looked at the direction Vanoss pointed. That's Ryan, someone who had been living in this town since birth. He lives with his non-blood related siblings named Momo and Mike, along with his husband Luke. He's the owner of the only-bar in the town, and Ryan is one of the friendliest people Brock ever met. He's a good man, although some of his 'jokes' can be lame (even more lame than his puns!) it made him groans (like some of the townspeople when he told them a bad puns).
"So I’m thinking of staying in here for a while." Vanoss announced, and that made Brock look at him wide-eyed. His eyebrows furrowed in anger.
"No, you are not!"
"I am actually. Someone already offered me to stay in their place free of charge until i can 'get back on my feet'." Vanoss countered, enjoying the angry look on Brock's face. "The 'i became homeless on the street since forever because my parents didn't want me' story works everytime, Moo. You should try it."
Brock's left hand bailed into a fist. How dare he deceived the townspeople, 'exploiting' their kindness for his own need. He knew it, this guy is STILL a monster from that gang. He can't trust him, nobody should trust him. His presence here must be putting him and the town in danger because he's still a fugitive! Or, this might be a trap from ‘them’ to bring him back.
"They would come here if you stay. Leave now and never come back." Brock responded, voice shaking with anger. He’s never been this angry before in his life, this is a first. And the feeling kinda scares him a bit, but this is for the town's safety.
Vanoss still looked calm and composed, his annoying smirk still on his face. Brock had to hold an urge to punch the guy in the face. "Relax, I'm sure no one from the gang would know that i'm here. Besides, we're the same. You're luckier though. Successfuly escaped with their money, without being tracked down."
"We're not the 'same'. I left because i'm not one of you monsters. And no, I bet you're still on that gang's radar." Brock spat, eyes glaring at the man in front of him.
Vanoss chuckled. "Oh, Brock. What can you do then? Banish me? It's not like you're the leader of this town or anything."
"I can tell everybody the truth. They would believe me and forcing you to go." Brock retorted, but more chuckle can be heard from Vanoss, who still looked calm as if the older man in front of him isn't giving him a death glare.
"That's nice and all, but I can also do that too. Telling everyone how Moo used to murder children and other people." Vanoss replied with a shrugs, before he continued. "Or if that isn't enough, I can also tell the gang that I found their sneaky eagle if they found me."
That actually made the look and feeling of anger on Brock gone. His eyes stared at Vanoss in fear, and that made Vanoss smile smugly. "Oh, you can imagine how happy the gang would be and how sad the town’s gonna be when they know the town’s florist is actually a horrible person."
The younger guy gets up from the seat, looking satisfied when Brock's mouth agape, trying to say something back but can't because of the threat. He pats the older guy's shoulder before he go. "Well, then. I'm gonna go. See you around, Brock."
Brock glanced down in defeat. His mind jumbled in sheer panic because of what Vanoss just said. Not only that he will tell everyone in the town about his sinful past, but he will also tell the gang about his whereabouts. He can't let that happen, and he can't let Vanoss stay in the town either. Both options seems to led to the same outcome, of his past being discovered and the gang would take him away. A bad 'ending' that he never wanted.
He worked so hard for the happiness he finally got, a pleasant and joyful life he always dreamed of. He can't let Vanoss destroy it, he can't let that guy take his happiness away from him.
As he tries to think about the solution of his problem, he can hear whispers from deep inside of his mind.
"A flower mustn't ever be unsightly ."
"It must forever remain clean."
"A flower mustn't ever be unsightly ."
"It must forever remain clean."
"A flower mustn't ever be unsightly ."
"It must forever remain clean."
Brock nodded. "Yeah. Yeah. The flower has to be beautiful."
He digs his fingertips into his palms. He knows what to do.
It still blows his mind when he can tell the others that Brian, the love of his life, is now his 'fiancé'.
Not just a boyfriend, but FIANCÉ.
A few days has passed since he got engaged with Brian. After dating for years, they both realized that they're ready to take their relationship further to a more serious, intimate relationship.
It's a funny story, actually. After Brock asked his friends, like Ryan, Luke, and Marcel (the town's postman) for advice and everything, they all encouraged him to propose to Brian ONLY if he's certain and is ready for bringing their relationship to the next level. And Brock is ready. He loves Brian, so much. He is the only person he ever met who made him feel what 'Love' felt like. He loves every little thing about Brian. Just, the thought of spending the rest of his live together with the baker... it made him filled with joy, to the point of tearing up (a little bit) because he never thought he would be this happy in his life.
So on Saturday afternoon, both of them were having a little walk in the park like they always do. Brock had already bought this pretty ring which cost him a lot of money, but it's for Brian and he would do anything for him. He intended to propose him in the middle of garden of his favorite flowers that he grew months ago (with the help of Ava, the town's gardener), a garden full of red roses to symbolize his love towards the baker.
Brock quickly brought Brian to the garden but before Brock could say anything, Brian started talking about how grateful he is to meet Brock, and how the older guy accepted his confession. The baker then explained that he loves Brock so much, and it's coming from a guy who swears himself that he won't have a comitted relationship years ago, but then that decision changed because of Brock. All the sweet talk is making Brock flustered, his face as red as the red roses. The baker always know how to make the florist become a stuttering mess because of his appealing, romantic words.
What made his eyes widen and moved his hands to cover his mouth in surprise, however, was Brian who suddenly kneel in front of him, pulling a small black box from his pocket. And what inside that small box is... a beautiful ring. With a small smile the baker asked the big question he’s been meaning to say tonight, endearing tone yet shakiness apparent in his voice.
"Will you... will you marry me, Brocky?"
The older man stared at both Brian and the ring. He can hear his own heart pounding hard in his chest as tears started to well up in his eyes, and for a moment he can see Brian started panicking. But then, Brock erupted into laughter and Brian's expression changed to confusion.
The florist then pulled a small white box from his pocket, giggled when he saw Brian's mouth agape in surprise. He explained to the baker about his plan, about how he's going to propose him tonight in the same place but of course Brian had to propose him first.
"Guess we both being impatience, huh?" Brock said in a playful tone, taking and inspecting the ring from Brian's hand before putting it on his finger. "I wonder how much you spend for this ring, it's beautiful."
"So, does that mean you accepted my proposal?" The baker stood up, grinning as he regained his composure back.
The florist rolled his eyes. "I don't know, Bri. Maybe i'll think about it first." he chuckled, before pulling out a ring from the small, white box he bought.
"I'm not buying this so i can keep it."
Brian only stared at him, holding back a laughter when Brock started to put the ring on his finger. "God. I really love you, Brocky."
The statement caught Brock off-guard for a bit. He let out a small laugh with reddish face, a sight that Brian always loves to see. Both are staring at each other for a moment, eyes sparkling with happiness before Brian pulled the other into an embrace.
Brock can feel the younger's warmth, can hear how his heart’s beating fast. He reached forward, giving him a kiss. A kiss that was gentle and chaste, a kiss that made time around them stopped as they enjoyed every moment of it, a kiss that felt right, a kiss which signaled their feelings and how much they love each other.
"I love you." the older man wrapped his hands around the other's back, head resting on his broad shoulder.
"Me too." Brian gave him a small kiss on the florist's temple, radiant smile plastered on his face. "I love you, Brocky."
News about their engagement spreading quick in the little town. And like the good people they are, the townspeople are congratulating both of them about their relationship. They're giving them their blessings and wishing everlasting happiness for both of them, and Brock's heart is pretty much 'moved' by their kindness and support, it's amazing how nice the townspeople are. He never met a bunch of people who are very supportive and happy for each other until he arrived in this town, and Brock is very grateful for that.
All goes well.
Nothing disturb his perfect happy life.
Even now, Brock can't stop staring and smiling at the ring on his finger. It looks really pretty, possibly more expensive than the ring he bought for Brian. The memory of that special night keep replaying in his mind, an euphoric and funny memory that will be forever burned in his mind in perfect detail.
However, he got pulled back to reality as he heard a bell rings from the door, signaling someone entering his shop. He quickly greet his customer with his bright smile. "Welcome!"
It's someone he’s never seen before. The guy looks decent, like a normal young guy. Although, Brock finds it a little... odd because the guy glanced left and right when he stepped into the shop, then looking at all the flowers and arrangement in his shop without saying anything. Brock feels like he's a cop finding evidence or something, and it kinda makes him feels a little uncomfortable.
So with a big question mark on top his head, the older guy asked. "Um... is there anything I can do to help?"
The guy jolted in surprise. Brock can see how the guy's eyes widen in shock for a second before his expression changes with a friendly smile on his face. "Oh, sorry. Just looking at the flowers here."
"Do you need help?" Brock asked, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling inside him. The guy is his customer, so he has to give him a satisfactory service!
"Oh, not really." The guy replied, before he started looking around the room again. Brock just shrugs, what an odd customer.
However, not until minutes has passed, the guy walked up to his counter. "Unless... you know a flower which symbolizes deception? Or betrayal? Or something like that?"
Brock pondered for a second. He found the guy's request to be a little weird, because people are usually searching for flowers that symbolizes positive words or energy, because it's meant to be a gift for someone he cares about. But it seems like this guy wants to give his enemy a flower or something.
Well, he actually has a couple of flowers that have darker meaning to it. He brought it and put it on his shop out of pure curiosity, just in case someone might buy them. He never thought there's someone who really wanted it.
"Uh... I have snapdragons. Snapdragons' meaning are said to be deception." he pointed at the colorful snapdragons on a pot behind the guy. "I also have petunia, which means resentment. And um... yellow lily's meanings are also said to be lies."
The guy lets out a hum of acknowledgement. "You sure know a lot about flowers huh." he said with a small smile, and Brock feels a little proud.
"Well, of course! I'm a florist, after all."
"Now that flowers really screams 'you', huh."
The friendliness tone on his voice fall, changed into more cold, serious tone. For a moment, Brock felt a slight intimidation vibe coming from the guy in front of him. "Huh? What do you mean?"
The guy chuckled as if Brock just said something funny and confusion starts pilling up inside of him. "You said that yellow lily means lies, didn't you?"
Brock nodded at that, eyebrow raised questioningly and the guy's smiles grow wider. "That's what you did to this town, right? You lied to them about your past."
That remark made the older's man face flushed to surprise and fear. "I..."
"Yeah. I know who you really are. A criminal from that gang. A fucking psychopath, that's what you are."
How can this guy know about it? Brock's mind is filled with buzzing panic, trying to figure out who the hell is the guy standing in front of him. He doesn't remember anyone from the gang who looks like him, yet this guy knew about his sinful past. And judging from the way the guy look and talk to him, he doesn't seem to be a person who will ignore his past.
"Who... who are you?" As soon as that question left his mouth, the guy let out a mocking laugh. A laugh that made Brock shudder a little bit.
"Oh, pardon me. I'm Craig, an investigative journalist. A friend of someone you murdered years ago."
That statement struck him like a lightning. Suddenly, he remembered his past. He remembered when he was pointing a gun to a bunch of people, he remembered the horrible feeling he felt when he heard their plea of help, he remembered their despair-filled gaze, he remembered when he had to pull the trigger and saw their life drained from their body. It's something that he had to do, a job from 'them' that he had to obey. It makes him even more scared when he realized he doesn't really know exactly who his friend is, since he basically had murdered more people than he can remember.
He stares at him wide-eyed, unable to say anything. Again, someone from his past coming to get him. Someone who won't let him live a normal, peaceful life.
"I can't believe it. I've been waiting for years. Waiting to find one of you fuckers, someone who had murdered my friend." His left hand bailed into a fist, eyes staring right at the florist with burning gaze. "And I found him. Having a 'happy life' in a cute little town and deceiving everyone while I suffered."
"Wait, wait! I-I'm not what you think! I-I'm differ--" Brock tried to protest but his sentence is cut off by Craig's empty laugh.
"Different? How... how the fuck can you call yourself different when you fucking murdered people and lied to literally everyone in this town?!" he said, voice growing louder.
Brock could only stare at the floor, refusing to meet Craig's gaze. His eyes started to water. This is horrible, because deep down he knew he deserved it, Craig's resentment towards him made sense because he took someone's life, someone who is important to him. But at the same time, a small part of him still refuses the guilt in his heart because it's not his choice to kill them. He never had a choice, he had to obey everything they told him to do. And if it's his job to murder someone, then he had to do it.
"I-I'm sorry, i'm so sorry! B-But they told me to do it and i-i didn't had a choice!" Brock tried to explain, voice shaking from panic. Cold sweat began to pour as his heart pounded faster and faster.
"There's no excuse for what you did! You can just, ignore their command or whatever! Or you can just call the police! I-God, you can do anything other than killed my fucking friend!" Craig snapped, and Brock can feel himself flinched at his voice.
The journalist suddenly glanced down, and Brock can heard soft sob coming from him. It's the worst feeling that Brock ever feel. He can't say anything because he's afraid of the guy's response. All he can is listening to the guy's breakdown, while remorse keeps pilling up more and more inside him.
"Lucas... I-I told him that messing with you guys is not a good idea. I told him that he can be a target anytime by doing that, but he wouldn't listen. "I'm going to expose them because no one else would apparently." he said. He's really stubborn that guy." Craig said, hands wiping tears that started flowing down his cheek.
"A-And then, I was right. Found dead in an alleyway. Everyone said someone robbed him a-and killed him because all his stuffs are gone, but I know what truly happened. I know that you people," Craig pointed his finger to Brock's chest. "Fucking killed him, because you bitches are afraid of someone exposing you."
"I spent my whole life researching and trying to find out who murdered my friend. I knew your gang had a bunch of hitman or whatever, but there's only three of you being dispatched the day my friend died. You, someone named Vanoss, and Nanners." he continued, before taking in deep breath.
"But Nanners was sent to spy on some other gang. Vanoss was in different area than where my friend was murdered. So there's only you. You are the one that murdered my friend."
He admits it. Craig's deduction is pretty impressive. But the thought of this guy spending his whole life in anguish to avenge his friend, someone that he murdered, made him speechless. It made him nauseous, the anxiety kicking in.
"How could you? How could you do that? Can you imagine how destroyed his girlfriend was when she knew about her boyfriend death? How his mother wailed and went hysterical at her child's funeral? Can you imagine how I feel to lose someone important to me?!" Craig's cried out, and Brock genuinely feel so horrible.
"I... I-I'm so... I'm so sorry..." Brock muttered, eyes closed as he feel Craig's heated gaze towards him. He feels so uncomfortable right now, and he can't think about anything except sheer panic and remorse.
"You know, I can just fucking kill you right now." Craig snarled. His hand reached for something inside of a vest he wear, and that 'something' is a gun.
Brock wants to run. He wants to escape now before something worse happened. But the feeling of fright and panic rendered his body frozen in fear. Is he really going to die? Murdered by this guy as an act of revenge?
"But no." Craig hissed, voice still shaking with anger and distress. He took a deep breath to calm himself down. "If I do it, I will be like you, a vile monster. I don't want that, nor Lucas."
Hearing that made Brock sighed in relief, his whole body became more relaxed. "T-Thank you, thank you so much."
"However," Craig continued, ignoring the older man. "I won't let you walk free from your sin. Instead of killing you, i will tell everyone in this town the truth about your past."
Brock doesn't know what worse, to be killed by Craig right now or having his deep secret, a past he tried so hard to hide, or to be revealed to all of the townspeople. Again, both choices are leading to a worse outcome, an 'ending' that would definitely crumbles all his happiness that he had 'built' for so long.
"N-No, no, no, please! Please don't do that!" he pleads, voice shaking with panic and desperation. He watches Craig turned his back and walked towards the door. He can't let him take his happiness away from him, not again.
But Craig wouldn't budge, ignoring Brock's plea. "This is your punishment for all your sins." he stops right before he turned the doorknob. "Go rot in hell."
And he left.
The older man stares at the door, tears running down his face. Is it the end? Is he going to be banished and hated after Craig tell all the townspeople the truth about him?
Is he going to lose the peaceful, happy life he always dreamed of? The life he head built for so long?
"No..." he mumbles. Deep inside of his mind, he heard a whisper.
He wouldn't let that 'bad end' happen. He will create an 'ending' with his own hands, a happy end that he deserves.
He know what to do.
It's the combination of the sound of chirping birds outside, warm sunlight that creeping through the window, and a sweet smell coming from the kitchen downstairs that made Brock opened his eyes. He let out a quiet yawn as he streched his limbs, wincing slightly at the pain he felt on his hips.
He stared at the empty space beside him on the bed, Brian must be downstairs, already waking up before him to make breakfast. Eventually, a rumbling sound coming from his stomach made him get out from warm blanket covering him, even though he wanted to spend more time on the bed. It's Sunday anyway, the only day of the week where he doesn't need to spend his entire day behind the counter of his flower shop. But he's hungry, and he misses Brian's presence, so he needs to get up from the comfy bed. The motion causing soft creak to be heard from the bed.
He picked up a frame from the desk beside his bed. It's a photo of the most joyful memory he ever had, a picture that never stops him from having a warm, fuzzy feeling that made him smile. A picture of him and Brian on their wedding day, surrounded by their friends.
Yes, it's been a month and a half since their wedding and Brock is clearly enjoying the new married life he has. Everyday he would wake up with Brian's arms wrapped around him, pulling his body closer to him and sharing his body warmth that made Brock's heart beating faster, or from the smell of breakfast Brian made, like now. If they don't have any work load, they will spend their day cuddling in front of the TV watching their favorite movies or playing some games together. Everyday, Brian would shower him with kisses and soft touch, making Brock blushes profusely, an action that never failed to make him weak.
But the night is where their favorite at. If they're tired, then they would just cuddling in bed and talk about their day, some news in the gaming world, their work, anything until they're drifting into the dream world. If they're not tired though, Brock would be squirming and whimpering under Brian's touch. The baker is good in bed, always know how to turn the florist into a mess, or say something that’s clearly not 'innocent' or 'pure' which make Brian grin for having to see that side of Brock. Their 'night session' always feels like a fireworks for both of them, the time where they will be lost in lust and pleasure, while keep showering each other with love.
As he went downstairs, the sweet, delicious smell is getting stronger. He could feel his mouth water just from the smell alone, and he can't wait to eat whatever Brian make.
"Morning." Brock said before let out another yawn as he walked to the kitchen where his husband is.
Brian, who previously had his back turned and in the middle of cooking some pancakes, turned to the voice and giving him a wide smile. "Morning, babe."
The older man walked over and Brian give him a quick gentle peck on the lips, causing red tint appeared on the man's cheeks, which made Brian chuckled at the response. The younger guy just love making his husband blushed at everything he do to him.
"I'm not too hard on you last night, right?" Brian asked, teasing tone on his voice.
Brock remembered their last night 'activity', and the blush on his face reddened. He remembered that, an 'activity' that turned make Brock embarrassed to think. "N-No, I'm fine. I like it when you’re being rough anyway." That last sentence was spoken low like a whisper, slipping out from the older man's mouth subconciously.
"What was that?"
"Nothing, what are you cooking?" Brock tried to move the conversation along.
"Oh, nothing special. Just some strawberry pancakes." the younger man replied, truly unaware of the embarrassing word Brock slipped. "Can you help me prepare the table? It's almost done.”
Brock nodded and quickly did as requested. It took few minutes, but everything's finally done, just when Brock's stomach grumbled again. He can't wait to eat, he's just so hungry today.
Breakfast time was filled with joy and pleasant vibe like always. Brock complimented Brian's cooking skill, which made a sense of pride running through Brian's body. The younger man loves it when Brock complimented him. Brian had no work today either, so they would definitely spend more time together today. Maybe they will play some games together or just watch some movies together, or maybe doing 'things' that is 'usually done at night', just like everyday.
It makes Brock so happy that he finally got a peaceful life he always dreamed of. Living with his lovely husband, in a little town with kind and compassionate people, while working at a flower shop he owns... he even thought about adopting a child someday, when both of them are ready of course. For now, they are pretty content of not having a kid running around the house. His life right now is what matters for him the most.
Still, no one in the town ever know about his past of being a criminal.
You see, there's actually a forest near the town. A big, dark forest that only few people ever visit, for hunting an animal living in the forest like a deer or a bird.
It's a perfect place for hiding something.
But Brock doesn't care about that forest. No, he doesn't need to give the forest his attention, he just have to pretend the forest never even exist by not talking about it at all.
To be exact, he doesn't need to think about what’s buried deep inside of the said forest. No, he just have to ignore two dead leaves he concealed in said forest. Two ‘dead leaves’ that tried to reveal his past, dead leaves that tried to make the flower unsightly and dirty.
His life right now is what matter the most. A life that he had 'built' so hard.
And now, he finally gets his happy ending. An 'ending' he deserves after being tortured for so long. That's all that matters. That's the only thing that matters,
No one in the town ever know about his past of being a criminal.
A flower has to be beautiful.

sadly as i havent had time to draw today, i havent been able to say happy birthday to miku. though i do want to just get this out there; 10 years ago, my brother had shown me a video by the producer pinocchio-p named common world domination. through that time ive been playing vocaloid games with him that have come out through the past view years, gotten favorite artists, and have even contributed myself to the vocaloid scene. its a genre that has gotten me through times darker than i can admit, and without a doubt its one of the most sentimental things to me. as i grow older, my love for vocaloid and every single producer inside of it will continue to grow as well! thank you all for 15 years of hatsune miku, and 10 years of my life that i’ve learned to love :)

Ten Thousand Stars is SUCH a good Vocacircus song and makes great use of (I'm pretty sure) V3 English Miku-
Make Albedo and English and Japanese voicrbank because mMmmm... if I was able to talk to Bedo's JP VA so the Japanese VA is providing the Japanese voice for UTAU and the English VA is providing the English voice for UTAU (if that makes sense)
Catch me making covers with his bank and my own-
YES Them streaming project diva and going against each other! I haven't perfected Tengaku on extreme (well on any difficulty) but I did clear it to about... 80% or so. But I HAVE perfected Two Faced Lovers and Common World Domination on Normal. Working on Rolling Girl on hard mode lmao- and Weekender Girl for Extreme. I got to about 77% on ExExtreme for Love Is War... it's chaos-
I can see Barbara and Xinyan actually using vocal synths, Albedo may dabble in it too just cuz of the disecting languages- he'd have to research about languages and he's always curious so I can see him trying to look into it- whether he truly understands it or not.. up for debate. I headcanon he's good with chemistry, anything with numbers but when it comes to grammar and stuff he's just Albedo.exe has stopped working. Like The Lost Ones Weeping (it sings about English being difficult and the person wishes there was a right or wrong answer and not just "close" "almost" "not quite", because math is either you get it right or you get it wrong. No in between)
Scara woukd rage at project diva when he's trying to perfect a song but keeps failing, mans throwing his controller and screaming
I listened to it and I gotta say Ten thousand Stars slaps hard 👏👏👏 so good.
Oh my god yes both japanese and english Bedo voicebanks ahhhhhhhh that would be so cool 😩😩😩
Omg okay my bad i read that wrong but sTILL!! Theres some extreme songs that are totally okay to at least finish. But others? Nu Uh. Like i barely was able to finish NegaPosi continues on hard. How am i supposed to beat it on extreme fhfhhfhf
I havent played in a while so i can't remember much but i am pretty Sure i perfected Pinky swear on hard. I gotta say that one was pretty okay to me. But Love the perfects on two faced lovers and Common world domination for you!!!💜 Let's not get started on exextreme. Just insane i can't hfhfjfjf Absolutely respect your % in Love is war there omg! I should play again soon i'm probably so rusty <//3
Barbara, Xinyan and Bedo using vocal synths 💜💜💜 thats so neat. Maybe Bedo asks the two to show him how it works because He really wants to know!!! Xinyan having a whole collection of vocal synths !!!
But yes i agree Albedo is very good at all the science things and math (good for him i sucked at all of that). He definitely has trouble with things that have no clear answer. I imagine he's interested in Kazuhas haikus because he wants to try and understand it better. Little bonding moment between these two cuties <3
LMFAO SCARA IS A RAGE QUITTER FOR SURE
He needs to buy a new controller once a month <//3 He swears he hit that one note, the game is just stupid smh
Xiao is like that too but he gets silently angry and when he can't take it anymore he just immedietly turns everything off and you wont hear from him for an hour.
#they are such nerds💜💜💜 love them💜💜💜#ask#centuriantalevevo#the crow caws into the void#murder of crows💜

10 Franchises SEGA Would Be Crazy Not To Bring To VR – Part 1
Welcome to another edition of VR vs. The weekly VRFocus column where the ‘other one’ from the site talks about most anything and everything to do with virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) or some crazed combination of the three. Today we’re continuing a thread begun last week in the final part of my three-week feature into what may lie ahead in 2017. There I mooted the idea that of all the studios currently involved within VR, certainly from a gaming perspective there is one that is conspicuous by its absence. SEGA. Yes, yes, I know there are Hatsune Miku games but as I pointed out at the time Hatsune Miku and the vocaloid bunch ultimately aren’t SEGA property and aren’t a traditional franchise. They aren’t one recognised within their All-Stars series for instance – and whilst that isn’t a qualifying marker for this list considering how big the Project Diva series is and how iconic a figure Miku is in Japanese culture certainly, you’d’ve thought SEGA would make more of a deal out of things than they have were she theirs. So on that basis, scrub those out PSVR games off your mental tally.
Updated total? Zero.
This is unusual for SEGA. Historically SEGA (at least in the third-party era) have rushed in to support whatever new technology comes along. Do you by any chance remember the EyeToy, Sony’s camera accessory for the PlayStation 2? Yes? No? There weren’t exactly a whole heap of games for it. But SEGA were there with the original SEGA Superstars to fly the flag. They supported the Kinect they fell into bed with Wii U pretty quickly, etc, etc. For SEGA to not have had one of its more noted franchises in the West ready to rock and roll when VR came to retail, certainly the PSVR, was pretty unusual. (Again, discounting the leek-swinging singer lady.)
But that’s not to say there aren’t plenty of opportunities for SEGA to embrace VR and thrown a bone to its more beloved franchises. It’s one of the sad truths about SEGA that their most iconic of series, with the exception of the fast spiky one, have never exactly been humongous successes financially. Still, why not use some of them and maybe give them a new lease of life outside of a new racing game? (No, really SEGA. It’s time for Transformed 2. Throw some money at SUMO Digital, will ya?) It’s also not like we don’t know SEGA aren’t messing around with VR either. Both SEGA Europe (SOE) and SEGA America (SOA) revealed their ownership of VR kits (HTC Vive and PlayStation VR for SOE and Hololens for SOA) thanks to community videos. Way to keep that secret chaps. A+ work.
So let’s get things underway. As before I must point out that I used to work for SEGA for several years and worked on a number of the franchises listed that I’ll be bringing up. It was some time ago now, but I’m reliably informed that if I don’t do that the world will apparently end. We begin first with an honourable mention.
Honourable Mention: Alien Isolation
It’s just not going to happen folks. Many have said the masterfully creepy atmosphere of “SEGA’s Good Alien Game” – tho everyone forgets they also did an Alien game on the DS in that discussion – was a perfect match for a full and proper adaption into a VR experience. The scare factor would be immense, obviously. As it’s bad enough being stalked by a Xenomorph without actually looking down at your chest as its tail pushes through it to kill you. As much as we’d all like it to, the economic factors involved just mean Alien Isolation is a non-starter for Creative Assembly to even get involved in really. Boo-urns.
However, speaking of Creative Assembly…
Total War
It’s one of gaming’s little quirks that one of console gaming’s most well known names is the publisher that is in actuality one of PC Gaming’s powerhouses. Between Sports Interactive’s Football Manager series and Creative Assembly’s Total War franchise SEGA have an commanding grip of the PC chart, one would go far to say dominance at some points in the year. If you have lived in a hole for the past couple of decades, Total War is a series of real-time strategy games that takes keen players take on the role of General in various eras of time. Replaying notable battles and playing tactical hardball with history. Whether it’s the Medieval period, the time of Rome, the rise of Napoleon or the era of the samurai there’s plenty to do. Heck, you can even throw history right out the window now and enjoy some Warhammer in your Total War.
Total War has always been about getting stuck in to battles. The planning, the preparation, the implementation and the execution. The buck stops with you, and as the series has developed the control system has allowed you to get ever deeper into the action. You can even follow individual soldiers. It’s such a well developed system that there’s even been a BBC game show (essentially) based on playing the series. One that’s recently had something of a comeback.
youtube
So with this in mind how would VR make Total War better? Control.
Now, considering what I’ve just written you might be wondering what I’ve been talking about since I’ve just been praising the system. But you can always improve and everyone and anyone who has played Total War has always had periods where the game just won’t place units right or you can’t get the camera in jussssst the right position. Now imagine you are in the map as opposed to looking at a 2D surface. Imagine you were, with your motion controllers able to to manipulate your units and your surroundings just so. How much easier and dynamic and engaging an experience that would bee if you brought a touch of Minority Report to proceedings.
Heck, can you imagine a Hololens version of Total War? With you waging battles from your sofa over your coffee table, and manoeuvring your archers onto the high ground of the TV unit? That’d be amazing.
Samba de Amigo
Break out the Bellini boys and girls!
When I first saw the HTC Vive controllers my first thought, partly because of how they were being held and moved at the time, was that they kind of looked like maracas. And there’s only one game that invites you, without a hint of suggestiveness, to get your maracas out. Samba de Amigo first burst onto the scene on SEGA’s much loved Dreamcast and was actually developed by Sonic Team if you didn’t realise it. It also came out as an arcade experience before next surfacing on the Nintendo Wii. The game plays with you in amongst a vibrantly coloured carnival, armed with your maracas you control Amigo, one of SEGA’s two monkey mascots (the other being Super Monkey Ball‘s AiAi, strangely the two have never been seen as rivals in the Superstars/All-Stars titles. Which has always puzzled me.) You move and dance along to a selection of upbeat tracks, shaking your controllers in time to the beat and occasionally having to strike a pose. It’s a simple enough title, and well and truly puts the party into party game.
VR needs more games like that I think. More games that are just full on fun and colours. It’s why Balloon Chair Death Match got people excited, it was a simple premise and it looked fun. Job Simulator is the same. Bright colours and poitively oozes fun. Yes, we can all enjoy a nice serious game with high stakes, but in dammit we all just want to be silly sometimes. Samba allows you to do exactly that. Now, what I’m essentially asking you is to imagine this in VR. Please watch the video below as in this instance it is important to what I’m writing about.
A warning before you do however; if you are wearing headphones please turn them down. There’s some loud audio distortion on the video from the outset.
youtube
Just look at this man. Look how bloody happy he is. He doesn’t care he’s in the middle of an arcade, he doesn’t care he has a crowd. He’s just going for it: a master at work. Nevermind your beloved Salt Bae (a reference I realise will date this article terribly), in your heart of hearts you wish that were you. You wish you were as cool as the Samba Bae.
Now I’m waving any potential wire-based issues here. Forget ’em. Let’s lay it out. You put on the headset and you step into a party; a “Carnaval de VR”. Everyone around you is interacting with you. The movement is infectious. You are the centre of a mass celebration with bouncing creatures and an equally bouncing musical beat. You have motion tracking controls. You wave them about in time to the music. It’s escapement, elation, exercise and fun. Now we bring things up to date with the new technology and throw in a dash of evolution to the game as well. Unlike before you can use the sensors or PlayStation camera to fully track your movements. All of a sudden Samba can have a touch of Dance Central in it, evolving it into a bit more of a full body game with one stroke. You have greater accuracy than ever before on the controllers, the game can actually see you for the first time and you get one of the most smile inducing experiences on VR. As an added bonus it gets to be a game franchise fully realised on VR, something people are clamoring for.
Yo SEGA. You’ve got my number. Call my people (me) and let’s make this happen. I’m totally open to being Producer on this thing. SAMBA! Du du de-du du-du du de-du…
Condemned
There’s a very good chance you don’t remember Condemned: Criminal Origins. There’s an even better chance you’ve never played it or Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Which is a pity really. Condemned is a first-person experience which puts you in the shoes of Ethan Thomas, a police officer investigating a murder which slowly takes him down a path to discovering secret societies, mysterious entities, encountering nightmarish visions and the city falling into the grip of madness. Both games are a twisted mix of dark menacing settings, genuine scares that mess with play on psychology and improvised combat usually involving whatever Ethan can get his hands on. It’s frantic, up in-your-face stuff and perfect for VR with the combat emphasis on melee.
youtube
It’s not just that though. The first Condemned game especially has you dealing, within your role as a police investigator, a number of different crime scenes. These are technical, and involve you hunting for clues, such as finger prints and making deductions. What Condemned is, is what I suggested it could be back at E3 2016. It could be the Batman VR game you’ve always wanted but combined with all the best twisted bits of Resident Evil VII.
We’ll just ignore the bit about shouting people to death from number 2. (Check out my good friend John’s Let’s Play of Condemned 2 to see what I mean.)
That’s all for this week. On next week’s selection of titles we’re embracing freedom in a couple of ways and I use the term “wave shooter”. Which will probably annoy people. Until then…

Highsnobiety Feature Beatie Wolfe in 10 Ways Music Will Change in 2017
Awesome to be featured in Highsnobiety's '10 Music Trends That Will Be Huge in 2017' ... Read the full article via the link or with out the images below...
10 Music Trends That Will Be Huge in 2017
Now that we’re firmly within the new year, Paul Hanford gazes into his crystal ball and predicts the biggest music trends that will dominate 2017.
2016 frequently felt more like an extortionately long and brutal episode of Game of Thrones than a year in the 21st century. Twelve months ago, would any of us have actually believed a Twitter troll could become President of the USA, or that we’d be mourning the loss of so many musical icons?
Yet, in times of hardship, art gets to work and does what it’s supposed to: confound expectations, innovates and inspires. With that in mind, and with creativity and tech fusing more and more, 2017 could very well emerge as a golden era for music.
Here are 10 music trends that will blow up or continue to rise in the next twelve months:
Music Will Be Released in More and More Unconventional Ways
From Rihanna’s Anti to Beyonce’s Lemonade and all the way back to T.I.’s Us Or Else: Letter To The System, 2016 was all about the unexpected album drop. As the influence of established record companies and their big pre-release marketing campaigns continues to disintegrate, over the next twelve months the unexpected album drop will pale in comparison to the kind of immersive approaches re-shaping the very concept of what an album can be.
Take, for example, London-based Beatie Wolfe, who balances the timeless romantic song-craft of her music with distribution methods that have attracted a salivating tech community and resulted in her getting a TED platform and Wired column inches.
Already, she’s released a single as a musical jacket and an album as a series of digitally interactive cards, and, in 2017, she’ll be taking experiential-as-an-art-form further, collaborating with award winning Designers I/O (of MOMA and Tate Modern fame) and inventors Bell Labs to release her next song cycle.
Grime Will Cement Its Greencard
There was a time when UK hip-hop felt to the rest of the world like one of those nodding bulldogs people put in the backs of their cars: charming, but ultimately pointless.
Now, although Grime has taken the better part of this century to spread its wings abroad, the visa has finally come through. Mercury Prize winner Skepta is on Kanye’s speed-dial; Drake handpicked South London’s piano-playing rapper Dave for his latest mixtape; The New York Times treated Stormzy’s stateside appearances with awe and AJ Tracey is way up high in many 2017 ones-to-watch lists. Grime arrived stateside over the last couple of years, and this trend is set to continue.
Get Used to Hearing the Word “Experiential”
Let’s talk about adverts. Can you remember the last time on YouTube you actually thought, “I won’t press skip in five seconds because I really, really want to watch this ad?” Me neither.
Companies know we’ll use ad-blockers, remove cookies and do pretty much anything else to avoid our streaming pleasures being interrupted, so they’re having to work far more insidiously to grab our attention. All of this has lead to “experiential” becoming as big a buzzword as its more culturally-aligned sister, “immersive”. Basically, experiential advertising places the would-be consumer in an immersive, branded experience.
In 2016, Heineken released plans for a new campaign called “Takeover,” allowing wearers of customized Heineken wrist-bands to control the DJ’s music at festivals. Experiential pioneers like Red Bull have been fusing the lines between creative output and branded content for years, and in 2017 this will be the main battleground on which advertisers will fight for music fans’ attention.
The Times They Are A-Changin’
Whether it’s PIL’s mantra, “anger is an energy!” or NWA rallying against the LAPD with “Fuck tha Police”, difficult political climates have always fueled rebellious creativity. Even prior to his election win, there was a surge of anti-Trump music in 2016, from YG’s “Fuck Donald Trump” to alt-lit god Dave Egger’s 30 Days, 30 Songs project.
With hairy has-beens Ted Nugent and Kid Rock the only musicians willing to play at Trump’s inauguration, his administration team are reportedly offering seven digit figures for more credible artists to play. As of now, nobody is up for it.
In 2017, be prepared for ubiquitous Trump slurs in your favorite artists’ releases.
Pop Stars Are Now Younger Than Windows 98
Pop has always been a youthful genre, but given that a member of The Lemon Twigs was younger than Windows 98 (just 14 years old!) when they started making their album, musical sophistication is arriving earlier and earlier. 18-year-old South London rapper Dave also attracted the attention of Drake last year, who remixed his “Wanna Know” track, and 17-year-old indie-electro musician Declan McKenna has been receiving accolades for his work, too.
In 2017, pop stars will make increasingly complex and interesting work at ever-younger ages.
The (Beginning of the) Death of Bro Culture
Could 2017 be the death knell of bro culture within EDM? In the traditionally male-dominated field, nine of Mixmag’s “Top Twenty Breakthrough DJs of 2016” were female, which signals a positive trend for 2017.
In the year that saw the passing of Bowie (the original androgynous rebel), we also witnessed the astronomic rise of Anohni; and with artists like Jana Hunter from LA’s atmospheric rock band Lower Dens describing themselves as “gender non-binary” and New York’s queer-core rockers PWR BTTM continuing to rise, we could be on the crest of a golden age of gender and sexual acceptance within music.
The Return of Bowie?
Picture the scene: you’re in the midst of Daft Punk’s set at, say, Coachella. Halfway through, like a resurrecting John Snow, David Bowie rises up on the stage. Before you can pinch yourself, he’s ripping into “Let’s Dance” with gallic robots grooving behind him.
Sounds crazy, right? Yet, ever since Tupac rose from the dead to duet with Snoop and Dre at Coachella in 2012, holograms have been hot, and as with VR, tech companies are channeling vast research into this area. Japan already has its own totally holographic pop-star, the “16-year-old” Hatsune Miku.
Bowie, always ahead of the times, appeared in hologram form at the AIR Gallery in West London over decade ago. We’re predicting he’ll be back in hologram form in 2017, along with – hopefully! – Prince, George Michael and Phife Dawg.
Drake Will Continue to Drake
One thing will not change in the coming year: Drake’s dominance. From his game-changing deal with Apple to his categorization of his forthcoming work, More Life, as a playlist rather than an album, Drake encompasses the streaming age like no other artist.
With over a billion plays of the Apple-financed “Hotline Bling” video, Drake could pretty much spend the next twelve months occasionally streaming the sound of himself breaking wind without doing any harm to his career whatsoever. 2017 will be another big year for the polarizing Canadian rapper.
Algorithms Will Be Everywhere
In November 2016, Google Play Music released a list of 10 acts “expected to be huge in 2017.” What made their poll different from the flurry of predictions from every tastemaker, style brand and music publication is the fact that it was constructed from a combination of streaming stats, YouTube subscribers, track performances and the instincts of some Google Play specialists.
Predictably for a list largely derived from algorithms, it took less risks than an Ed Sheeran chord change. However, in these uncertain political times, can we really blame Google Play Music for not venturing a bold, original opinion? In 2017, you can be sure the easy algorithm opt-out will prevail.
People Will buy Records and Listen to Cool Shit
In December 2016, for the first time, sales of vinyl in the UK outstripped download sales. This doesn’t mean that your average teen is walking around car boot sales foraging for Pink Floyd re-issues, though. Rather, it signals that vast numbers of people are streaming rather than buying.
Whatever crazy app war may kick off between Spotify and whoever else is vying for our streaming attention, boutique record labels such as Domino and Warp will continue to survive by running a tight ship and maintaining a carefully-crafted roster of artists. In 2017, the underground will continue to throw up fresh, out-of-nowhere sounds and new genres will rise and fall in the blink of a refresh button.

New season, new fan art contest, this time celebrating the wonderful season of Spring. The contest will run for approximately 3 weeks ending on the 11th of April. In this time, you’ll be tasked with designing a main menu background similar to the Christmas fan art contest,, just instead of snow and Christmas presents, we’ll be (hopefully) seeing sakura blossoms and picnic baskets. Or whatever else happens in Spring wherever you live!
The Aspire 2017 contest voting is in it’s final moments, as voting closes very soon! Not long left now, so if you haven’t voted yet, or seen the amazing entries that this contest has birthed, we highly recommend taking some time to go have a look at the creativity of some of the communities finest mappers!
Around the community
On the topic of Aspire 2017, pishifat recently released a video talking a bit about the history of the beatmapping contest. The video goes over how the Aspire contests started and how they evolved throughout each rendition. The video touches over some rather interesting points both good and bad and also has a look at what’s to come. Definitely worth a watch if you want some valuable perspective and history on what’s behind all the Aspire hype!
We also got to the see the very artistic side of r3venger, a talented video editor in the community. His most recent, and arguably most impressive work, looks at the history of osu! and how it’s evolved from both a development and communal aspect. The video was done in an 8-bit style with some amazing animations and a very creative mind. Definitely worth the watch.
youtube
Rounding up the video goodness this week, we also have another mapping bytes video released by our lovable ztrot. With episode 5 looking at compressed streams and episode 6 looking at sliderstream jumps, ztrot continues on expanding upon the stream theme, this time taking a look at variable streams and what makes them tick, as well as how to use them.
We recently mentioned the osu!mania mentorship program accepting mentor applications - but the mentors need people to teach! Blocko has released a list of the mentors that will be taking part in the program, so if you’re interested in learning how to mod osu!mania maps in general from any of these highly skilled tutors, now might be just the chance you’ve been looking for. Decide fast, applications close this weekend on the 25th!
The Ranking Charts have been around for a very long time, longer than most of you can remember. Over the years, the system has changed extensively as the game and community have developed. This month though marks the next big step in the the future of the program - Spotlights. This new feature looks to bring in a lot more substance and interest for both mappers and players to the program, with brand new prizes, medals and much much more. While some parts of the new system aren’t ready to be announced, you can read the initial changes over on the announcement page.
Tournament Corner
Doomsday’s Corgi Cup tournament is back for it’s 3rd edition. This friendly tournament is an inhouse tournament for Doomsday’s twitch subscribers (and a few close friends). Scorewatch: March week 4 (With Scorewatch Patrol)
Cookiezi still proves his absolute dominance in the osu! Standard scene by pulling off a crazy HDHR 97.07% FC on Kuroneko Dungeon - Ryoushi no Umi no Lindwurm on Vert’s Extreme, giving him 423pp and the only HDHR FC and only FC without score reducing mods. Simply mindblowing, then again, he is Cookiezi.
youtube
A certain USA top player by the name of kablaze recently returned to osu!. Of course, he decided to set some scores, which included this amazing ALiCE'S EMOTiON - Dark Flight Dreamer HDHR SS (not to mention, 52 freaking UR), to earn himself 485pp and the 4th spot on the map, also becoming the 4th player to HDHR SS this difficulty, together with Wilchq, Yaong and Bikko. Check it out!
youtube
-GN definitely came out top this week with his amazing 5 miss HD score on Camellia - Exit This Earth's Atomosphere mapped by rrtyui. His score sits comfortably at 2nd and also gave him 231pp. Check it out!
youtube
ExGon decided to take a swing at Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Deceit / The Violation and set a 99.91% 5 miss score, hitting a peak combo of 3892. Step aside Hypwer27 and Kyptoric, the 3rd no mod pass on this difficulty beats out both scores combined, with ExGon going past 600,000,000. Let’s hope this shocking score won’t bore you to death with 10 minutes of metal.
youtube
Deceitful became the 2nd osu!catch player to get an HDHR SS on Halozy - Genryuu Kaiko (the 1st being ExGon), gaining a massive 898pp and the 2nd spot on the map. The No. 1 Indonesian and Southeast Asian osu!catch player moved to 7th place with that score. Incredible stuff. “=
youtube
NOTABLE MENTIONS:
Azer passed this test with flying colors as he pulled off an impressive 99.85% HD FC on Hatsune Miku - Kouon Chu Oniki Test on captin1’s difficulty.
Musty has happily taken the 2nd place spot on ke-ji feat. Nanahira - Ange du Blanc Pur with an impressive 99.80% FC.
Rohulk boasts his incredible consistency with an amazing HDHR SS on Kano - Kimiiro Hanabi -album version- to give him 436pp.
TWC 2017 Week 2 Summary: Separation of the Brackets - with magnomizer
This week in the Round of 16, we were treated to 8 splendid matches between the 16 countries that remain in the tournament. While it was a shame that none of the matches were close enough for tiebreaker, the whole experience was intense nonetheless. Don’t worry if you’ve missed out though, as you can always watch the VODs here, or settle for a brief recap below:
Out of the 8 matches taking place on Sunday, half of them ended in 5-0 sweeps. From this, it is looking like Canada, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan will make it very far into the tournament, though nothing is ever certain in these things. The remaining matches were definitely more heated, and we are starting to see some teams fall behind as the mappool difficulty continues to ramp up.
The match between Germany and Malaysia certainly deserves mention. Against all expectations, Malaysia, something of the “dark horse” of the tournament managed to take the first point of the match against the top seeded Germany (granted, it was due to an untimely disconnection, but the point would still have been extremely close). Germany retaliated accordingly, evening up the score to 1-1. However to the surprise of everyone, the low seeded Malaysia stood strong, and took yet another point from their opponent. At this point, it was looking to be an extremely close match, but Germany found their footing and stormed through the rest of the match, resulting in a 5-2 victory. An impressive showing from Malaysia nonetheless - they are doing exceptionally well for a low seeded team, and they are a team to watch out for next week.
Two other matches worthy of note were Indonesia vs. Australia, and United States vs. France. The matchups were very close - both pairings were of roughly equal skill. After a fierce clash of swords (or lack thereof), Australia and United States were the teams that made it out on top, knocking Indonesia and France down to the loser’s bracket, where they will soon face against each other. Both teams will have to be well prepared if they want to remain in this tournament.
Next week in the winners bracket, we have a number of potential close and exciting matches. I predict Taiwan vs. Germany will be a very hard fought and close battle. Even more so for the match of United States vs. Australia. The remaining matchups look to be sweeps from Canada’s and Japan’s side, though having made it this far already, their opponents are clearly not to be underestimated.
The first match is scheduled to take place on Saturday 25 March, 18:00 UTC. This time, the stakes are raised even higher as half the teams are now at risk of being eliminated! With another 8 exciting matches to look forward to, be sure to drop by the osu!live twitch channel this weekend, as you certainly do not want to miss out!
But that’s all we have time for this week. If you have any suggestions for what you would like to see in the weekly (and have some spare time), feel free to drop by the osu!dev discord and directly highlight Nyquill or myself (deadbeat) in the #osu-weekly channel. Alternatively, you can also e-mail as usual at [email protected].
See you next week!
