            “What ... did you not enjoy my husband’s decadent display of wealth and ... ego tonight?”  Miriam couldn’t help the pointed question, even if there was no need for it other than belligerence and vague disdain, her own discontent clinging to her skin like a bad odor she couldn’t seem to shake, fingers drifting away from Finnick’s jaw, catching the edge of her earrings, one and then the other, pulling them free and letting them collect in her palm, fingertips working along her necklace to find the clasp, eager to be rid of all vestiges of the night’s ‘entertainment’ with as much speed as grace allowed.   “Issac and his petulance, Laurens and his obsessions --  I wonder if any of them even know what it is to actually enjoy something simply for the sake of ... genuine pleasure.”
