We do draw fusions of ponies from all generations, G4 is still the most popular in requests but that dosen't mean the others are not allowed!

Cross-generation asks (for example g3 Rarity and G4 Rarity) are allowed as well.

Spoilers, we still get no G1 interactions.

We meet the three new creatures that Grackle and Dyre made: Violet Shiver, Black Belle and Shadow Storm. They have successfully tricked the ponies into thinking that they are from Hayvard. But the two daughters don’t think their S'monies are doing enough. Mostly because they only told them to “make things weird”. So they told them things to teach the students which are not friendly. Thing is, the students really like it.

But Rarity is the first to notice those lessons sound mean and tells Starlight her worries. Starlight didn’t think it was the case but overheard a lesson just in case. Starlight does worry as the “summon scary objects and scare your roommates” is mean but Black Belle basically Gaslights Starlight to second guess herself. And despite this, the daughters think the S'monies should do more. So after school, they do like messing with the Wonderbolts, a restaurant vs a bowling alley, and messing with the harvest.

But the gaslighting is over as Starlight is seeing Black Belle’s lessons being more mean than she originally thought while the rest of Ponyville is getting more frustrated. And despite all that, the daughters STILL don’t think the S'monies are doing enough. Considering they don’t even oversee their creations, it is no wonder. And that’s where the issue ends with the S'monies promising to get worse.

Again, for a crossover with Generation 1, there is not a lot of Generation 1. Like imagine a crossover event where you don’t see elements of who they’re crossing over with for two episodes. Or a crossover episode where you’re almost half way and you still haven’t seen any crossover. But how is this story without those elements? 

Well, Grackle and Dyre don’t really interest me. They’re still in the Volcano complaining and not doing anything themselves. The S'monies I think look interesting but so far they are interchangeable. Like when Black Belle slipped up, Shadow Storm covered for her. And then Shadow Storm slipped up where Violet Shiver covers for him. But with the students liking them despite the scary lessons, it does set up the ending.

Another thing I notice is the coloring mistakes. Twice I noticed Starlight Glimmer’s hair having different coloring than normal. Is this why they never added her into IDW comics before? Now Issue 3 is next and we’ll finally get some actual G1 Representation... For one panel.

Time to end G4’s Official Run with IDW Comics...

Before I begin, as a reminder, I consider the Classic Reimagined Comics to be part of the G5 lineup despite it focusing on the G4 cast. So once I finish with MLP Generations, unless I mistakenly missed a previous G4 Comic, this will be the last of the IDW Comics until I get to review all of Generation 5. But that’s future AkumaTh’s Problem. Today, we’re going back to the past...

We begin this issue with the Daughters of Reeka and Draggle, Grackle and Dyre. Ignoring the questions on how they had kids, they’re stuck in the volcano while they’re... Somewhere. I don’t think this comic ever explains what. But they’re gone for a month and the kids need to do their chores, which includes getting revenge on the Ponies. That’s definitely a “leave it to us” job and not something their kids should do, but they’re stuck there with nothing to do, so might as well.

Luckily for them, they got their pet rat/possum Trench who can magically dig his way into another dimension. During this visit we see G4 at the School of Friendship, and the school is packed. So much so that despite all the teachers they’re being overworked. So after debating on what to do, Dash suggests getting help from outside Ponyville to help teach. And with that news, the Teenagers have an idea.

Make their own ponies out of Smooze, the OG one, to go over there and cause mischief. And after a trip because they can only do magic within the Volcano, they got their three Smooze Ponies and are being considered Teachers from Hayvard Unicornitivisty. And the comic ends with them showing up, and not a single Generation 1 Character appearing once.

That is a big flaw with this miniseries that everyone has pointed out: for a crossover with Generation 1 there isn’t a lot of Generation 1. We have daughters of G1 villains who look more Equestria Girls. We have minor references with nothing major like pictures of their mothers and Grandma. And not a single pony from the movie. You could literally rewrite the dialogue and you would never think of this as a crossover comic.

Another thing I’ve seen others bring up is how the comic HEAVILY references the show. Like you can overlay a screenshot and it looks like it was traced. I don’t mind because I think it is more of a reference thing that someone took way too seriously. Either that or they rushed it to get it out before G5. I only bring this up because one scene in the comic kind of looks and sounds like Evil Starlight, despite explaining why they’re overworked.

And sadly, this problem will continue to exist next issue...
