Dear Journal,
Daddy and I had a long talk, and last week I had my last day of school. He says I need to be brave and lead by example for my little sisters. He promised that if I do a good job, one of these days me, him and my sisters will do something special, just us four.
I will admit, though, I was quietly gloomy to be leaving. Daddy and Mommy sent me along with a note explaining the situation at home, and Ms Hoffman seemed awfully sad to hear about the news. She even allowed us ten extra minutes of recess on my last day.
I miss all of my friends back at school, but especially my two best friends, London and Gladys.
London is the sweetest boy in class, and the second smartest, next to Oscar. His Daddy is an engineer and is currently living abroad in America, helping build their railways; which London says is a 'VERY important job'. He also says someday, he'd like to study there but I try not to think about it too much because it would make me too sad to say goodbye.
My other best friend at school is Gladys. She is very funny and she doesn’t even care when Ms Hoffman threatens her with the ruler for talking too much! I think she is very brave for this. Her Mum and Grandad own the most popular bakery in town, Mrs Cole’s Bakery, and Gladys always brings Cozonac bread to share for the holidays.
London always insists on walking me home when Oscar and Atticus want to stay after school to play marbles with the other boys. He says he has no interest in games like that and would rather spend time with me, anyway, even when his friends tease him!
I asked Gladys about this once, and she got even more giggly than usual. She insisted that it's really because London has a crush on me! Oh, what a thing to say!
Even if Gladys is wrong, though, I don't think I would be sad. We are thick as thieves, no matter what. Which is why we have agreed to write each other letters and pass them back and forth between my brothers. I am still eagerly awaiting my first.

FIRST WEEK OF BUSINESS INTERVIEWS
Last August 30, Jessa, Francen, Angel, and I, interviewed 5 business owners. Each of them has different businesses. Before we started the interview, we asked them for their permission to let us take a video for documentation purposes. Some of them agreed, but some of them told us not to take a video and just let us take a voice recording. We made some questions for them to answer based on all the business itself.
1. N JESS GENERAL MERCHANDISE

Miss Carmela Barton owns N Jess General Merchandise, a hardware store located at Zone 12 Upper Carmen, Door 3 LACAR Bldg. Her business started in 2015. They were also selling wholesale products of soft drinks and beers before, but the business went down as one of their staff members failed to do his/her job. Moreover, before the N Jess General Merchandise established, they were only selling nail hardware. The money they made from selling these nails was the one they used to start this business. Also, with the help of her father, who was an OFW before. They built this business so that her father does not need to go abroad anymore. Miss Barton also said that this serves as a retirement plan for her father. Moreover, we asked them about the first process they made before creating this business.
Miss Barton said that the first thing they did was to find a place, then the location, and lastly, to find suppliers. They have an estimated total of 17 staff working for them, especially since their business requires manpower. Their business also deals with partner contractors, where contractors, engineers, etc. will ask for their supplies. Furthermore, they also encounter a downfall where the sales are not that high, but nevertheless they are still able to pay for things they need to pay.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. HAPPY SIP

Happy Sip is owned by Ms. Rema Hasan and Ms. Merlyn Hasan, sisters who decided to start a business together. It is located in Zone 12, Upper Carmen, near the multicab terminal. This business, owned by the sisters, is a franchise store, with the main branch located in Manila. Happy Sip primarily focuses on selling milk tea, but the sisters decided to expand the menu, and now they also sell coffee and snacks like fries, siomai, and more. They started this business on March 5 of this year.
The business is solely managed by Ms. Rema and her mother, with no partnerships with other companies. Before Happy Sip started, Ms. Hasan's mother ran a business selling second-hand clothes (ukay-ukay), but sales declined. This decline prompted the Hasan sisters to create a separate business to generate additional income.
Regarding the process of starting the business, Ms. Rema explained that the first step they took was contacting the franchise. After receiving approval, they then made arrangements with the supplier for their products. However, Ms. Rema noted that one of the challenges they face is managing inventory, as they need to request supplies from Manila, which can take time to arrive.
Additionally, Ms. Rema mentioned that sales are not as high as they would like, which she anticipated because their products are not essential goods. She compared it to rice, a basic necessity that people need regularly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. AJ WATER REFILLING STATION
The third one is the AJ Water Refilling Station, this business is owned by Mrs. Leonor Jamito and located at Zone 12-C UZLAI. The business started operating on June 28, 2024. Their business also has no partnerships with other companies and is just solely managed by them. There are only 3 people who are working in their store, which is their family member. We asked about how the business was going, and she told us that they needed to be patient because there are times when sales are high and also sometimes they're low.
Mrs. Jamito's reason as to why she created this business is because she wants to leave something for her children, and this is their business. She said that she wanted her children to have this business because we do not know how long we will still be in this world. Furthermore, Mrs. Jamito's first step before diving into this business is to save money because she knows that they need a large amount of capital to build this business.
..............................................................................................................................
4. JASMINE GARDEN
The fourth one is the Jasmine Garden, which is owned by Mrs. Amelita Dap-og. She started selling since 1992, up to this day. However, during that time she said that she was only selling a small amount of flowers or that there were not that many variations of the flowers she was selling. Her store is located in Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. There were no partnerships involved from other companies; she and her family are solely managing the business. Additionally, there are 3 staff working on her business, which are just her family members, the husband, Alejandro Dap-og, and her son, Staline Dap-og.
Mrs. Dap-og is not just focusing on selling varieties of flowers; they also cater to landscaping. They joined a lot of floral displays, such as festivals, for example, this Higalaay Festival. They were invited from the LGU to display their florals in Gaston Park also for the beautification of the place. Moreover, they have participated in contests and won some prizes, specifically "Best in Flowering" and "Best in Bonsai Plant." Furthermore, in order for them to have their business displayed, they are required to submit their business permit.
================================================
5. AQUARIST FISH SHOP
Our last stop is AQUARIST AQUARIUM FISHSHOP, owned by Mrs. Devenia Socorro M. Chua, located on Rizal Fernandez Streets, Brgy 1. The store was built in 2010, but the business has been operating since 1993. The owner manages the business herself, with no partnerships involved. There are three people working in the business: Mrs. Chua, her husband, and their son.
The business primarily sells different types of fish, although they have expanded to include other animals and pets. They also sell aquarium accessories and fish food. The business was created to generate extra income, and also because her husband has a passion for fish and enjoys keeping various kinds.
To start the business, they invested in setting up aquariums to house the fish. Mrs. Chua mentioned that their first step was to find a reliable supplier who could provide them with a steady supply of products over the long term.
Ever wondered if you can actually repay your education loan while planning to study abroad?
Can You Repay an Abroad Education Loan of ₹25+ Lakhs in 2–3 Years?
Brought to you by Hexafin – Experts in Abroad Education Loans
Studying abroad is a big investment, but also a big opportunity. If you've taken a foreign education loan of ₹25 lakhs or more, you might be wondering:
"Can I repay this entire loan in just 2 to 3 years?"
The answer is yes, it’s possible, but it depends on multiple factors. Let’s understand how.
1. Your Job and Salary After Graduation
Repayment mainly depends on your salary package after studying abroad.
If you secure a high-paying job in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, or Germany, your income in foreign currency (USD, GBP, EUR) can make repayment easier and faster. For example, with an average starting salary of €35,000–€50,000 in Ireland or $60,000–$80,000 in the US, repaying ₹25 to ₹30 lakhs is achievable within 2 to 3 years with proper financial planning.
2. Loan Terms and EMI Flexibility
At Hexafin, we help students get loans with:
Flexible repayment periods (up to 10 to 15 years)
Moratorium periods (no or low EMI during your study time)
Prepayment options without penalty
This gives you breathing room to settle abroad, find a job, and then plan aggressive repayment.
3. Is It Realistic to Repay ₹25+ Lakhs in 2–3 Years?
Let’s say:
You repay ₹80,000 to ₹1,00,000 per month (around €1,000 to €1,200 or $1,000 to $1,200) You make yearly part-payments from bonuses or savings
In such a case, a ₹25 to ₹30 lakh loan can be fully paid off in 30 to 36 months, especially if you manage your lifestyle and spending wisely.
Smart Repayment Tips from Hexafin
Start Small EMIs During Your Course Paying even ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a month can reduce interest burden.
Use Your Foreign Income Smartly Set aside at least 30 to 40% of your monthly salary for loan repayment.
Cut Unnecessary Expenses Focus on savings for the first few years after graduation.
Choose the Right Loan Plan Hexafin helps you compare lenders to get the lowest interest and best repayment terms.
Real Example
Loan Amount: ₹28 lakhs Course: MS in Computer Science (USA) Job: Software Engineer with $80,000 salary EMI Paid: ₹1 lakh per month Loan Closed: In 2 years and 9 months
Cracking the Code: Scholarships and Study Routes for Indian Students Pursuing MBA and MS in the USA
The United States has consistently attracted Indian students who seek world-class education and global opportunities. Whether it’s pursuing an MBA or an MS, studying in the USA is often seen as a career-defining decision. However, affordability remains a key concern for most Indian families. That’s where scholarships, assistantships, and careful planning come in.
This blog will guide you through:
The scholarship landscape for Indian students
Choosing between an MBA and an MS
Top universities to consider
Smart application strategies for maximum return on investment
Why the USA Appeals to Indian Students
The USA’s reputation as a global education hub is unmatched. It hosts the largest number of international students in the world, and Indian students form one of the largest demographics.
Here’s why:
The country is home to globally renowned universities like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and Columbia. These institutions offer advanced curricula, state-of-the-art research facilities, and vibrant campuses that encourage innovation and leadership.
Additionally, the U.S. provides strong post-study work opportunities. Especially for MS students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), the Optional Practical Training (OPT) period is extended to up to 36 months. For MBA graduates, job prospects in finance, consulting, and tech make the investment worthwhile.
MBA in USA for Indian Students
An MBA in the USA for Indian Students is ideal for Indian students who have work experience and aspire to leadership roles or career transitions. Programs typically last two years and provide deep exposure to real-world business problems through internships, case studies, and consulting projects.
Top business schools in the U.S., including Harvard Business School, Wharton, Stanford, and Kellogg, consistently rank among the best globally. Indian students benefit from large international student communities, diversity in coursework, and access to global recruiters.
In terms of costs, MBA programs range between $70,000 to $100,000 annually, not including living expenses. However, this cost can be reduced significantly through scholarships and assistantships.
MS in USA for Indian Students
An MS in USA is best suited for students pursuing specialized knowledge in technical or scientific fields. Popular disciplines include Computer Science, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Biotechnology.
Top universities such as MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, and University of Michigan offer world-class MS programs. These universities offer research-focused training that leads to employment in high-demand sectors.
STEM-designated MS degrees are particularly advantageous because of the 3-year OPT extension, allowing Indian students to work and gain experience in the U.S. after graduation. The cost of an MS degree is generally lower than that of an MBA, usually falling between $40,000 to $60,000 annually, with living expenses on top.
Scholarships for Indian Students in the USA
Many Indian students think a U.S. education is out of reach due to its cost, but that isn’t necessarily true. A wide range of scholarships—governmental, private, and university-based—can significantly reduce your financial burden.
Government-funded programs such as the Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship offer full funding for tuition, living expenses, and travel. These are highly competitive but are accessible to outstanding Indian students with strong academic backgrounds and leadership potential.
Private organizations like the JN Tata Endowment and the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation provide grants or low-interest loans for higher education abroad. The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation also offers interest-free loan scholarships.
At the university level, many schools provide merit-based or need-based financial aid to international students. For example, Stanford offers full funding through the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program, while Columbia has Dean’s Scholarships for MBA students. Universities such as NYU, Michigan, and University of Southern California also provide generous tuition waivers and stipends for graduate students.
Another financial aid opportunity is assistantships. These are typically offered to MS students and include roles such as Research Assistant (RA), Teaching Assistant (TA), or Graduate Assistant (GA). These roles offer partial to full tuition waivers and often a monthly stipend.
How to Secure Scholarships and Aid
To improve your chances of receiving financial aid or Scholarships for Indian Students in the USA, early preparation is crucial.
Start at least 12–15 months before your intended start date. Build a strong academic profile, including excellent scores on standardized tests such as GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, or IELTS. Craft a compelling Statement of Purpose (SOP) that highlights your academic achievements, career goals, and motivation for choosing a particular course.
Letters of recommendation, internships, extracurricular achievements, and volunteer work all add value to your application. Many students also reach out to professors or departments to inquire about assistantships and funding options even before getting an offer.
Finally, apply to a mix of universities—some highly ranked and others mid-tier. This strategy gives you a broader range of options and increases your chances of admission and aid.
Career Opportunities After Graduation
One of the strongest motivators for studying in the U.S. is the employment potential after graduation. MS graduates from STEM fields often find roles in top tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon. Popular job titles include Software Developer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, and Business Analyst.
MBA graduates frequently secure high-paying positions in consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, and Bain, or in investment banks, multinational corporations, and startup leadership roles.
The combination of global work experience, prestigious degrees, and networking opportunities makes the USA an excellent platform for building a long-term international career.
Conclusion: Study Smart, Not Just Hard
While the idea of studying in the U.S. can seem financially daunting at first, the combination of scholarships, assistantships, and post-study work options make it a viable and smart investment for Indian students.
If you are ready to build a future in cutting-edge technology or global business, choosing an MS or MBA in the U.S. could be your gateway. With the right planning and informed decisions, Indian students can access world-class education while minimizing financial stress.
So whether you dream of joining the next generation of tech innovators or leading multinational corporations, the journey can begin with a well-executed plan—and the USA offers one of the best platforms to launch it from.
BCA vs. B.Tech in Computer Science: Which One Should You Choose?
Deciding between BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) and B.Tech in Computer Science after 12th can be tough. Both courses open doors to the tech industry, but they have different approaches, durations, and career paths. If you're confused about which one is right for you, this blog will break it down in simple terms—no technical jargon, just clear comparisons to help you make the best choice.
What is BCA?
BCA is a 3-year undergraduate degree focused on computer applications, software development, and programming. It’s more practical and less theory-heavy compared to engineering.
Key Features of BCA:
Duration: 3 years
Eligibility: 12th pass (any stream, but Maths is helpful)
Focus: Coding, software development, databases, web technologies
Admission: Mostly based on 12th marks (no entrance exam in most colleges)
Who Should Choose BCA?
If you want a shorter, more affordable degree
If you prefer hands-on coding over heavy engineering concepts
If you didn’t take Science (PCM) in 12th but still want to enter IT
If you want to start working sooner (since it’s a 3-year course)
What is B.Tech in Computer Science?
B.Tech (CS) is a 4-year engineering degree that covers computer science in depth—including programming, algorithms, hardware, networking, and advanced topics like AI and machine learning.
Key Features of B.Tech (CS):
Duration: 4 years
Eligibility: 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths + Entrance exams (JEE, state CETs)
Focus: Engineering concepts, problem-solving, research, and innovation
Admission: Highly competitive (requires entrance exam preparation)
Who Should Choose B.Tech (CS)?
If you want an engineering degree with strong technical depth
If you’re okay with a longer, more challenging course
If you aim for higher-paying jobs in top tech companies
If you plan to study abroad or pursue research (engineering degrees have global recognition)
BCA vs. B.Tech (CS): Key Differences
1. Course Duration & Depth
BCA: 3 years, more focused on applied programming and software skills.
B.Tech (CS): 4 years, covers engineering principles, advanced computing, and research.
2. Admission Process
BCA: Simple admission based on 12th marks (some colleges may have entrance tests).
B.Tech (CS): Requires clearing tough entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, or state CETs.
3. Syllabus & Subjects
BCA: More about coding (Java, Python, web development), databases, and IT applications.
B.Tech (CS): Includes advanced maths, algorithms, data structures, AI, and computer architecture.
4. Career Opportunities
BCA Graduates: Usually start as software developers, web designers, or IT support specialists. Salaries range from ₹3-6 LPA for freshers.
B.Tech (CS) Graduates: Get roles like software engineers, data scientists, or AI specialists with starting salaries between ₹5-12 LPA (higher in top companies).
5. Higher Studies & Growth
After BCA: You can do MCA (Master of Computer Applications) or switch to an MBA. Certifications (like AWS, Java, or cybersecurity) help in career growth.
After B.Tech (CS): Options include M.Tech, MBA, MS abroad, or research. Engineering degrees are preferred for higher studies in tech fields.
Which One is Better for You?
Choose BCA If:
You want a quick entry into the IT industry (3-year course).
You prefer coding and software development over complex engineering theories.
You didn’t take Science (PCM) in 12th or don’t want to prepare for engineering entrances.
You want a more affordable degree (BCA fees are usually lower than B.Tech).
Choose B.Tech (CS) If:
You want an engineering degree with deeper technical knowledge.
You’re ready for a 4-year challenging course with maths and algorithms.
You aim for higher-paying jobs in top tech firms (Google, Microsoft, etc.).
You plan to study abroad or work globally (B.Tech has better international recognition).
Final Thoughts: No Right or Wrong Choice
Both BCA and B.Tech (CS) can lead to great careers in IT. The best choice depends on your interests, academic background, and career goals.
If you want to start working early and love coding → BCA is a great choice.
If you want an engineering degree with more opportunities → B.Tech (CS) is better.
Remember, your skills and experience matter more than just the degree. Many BCA graduates become successful developers, and many B.Tech graduates move into management. What matters is how you use your education to build your career.
Why MBBS Is Still the Most Preferred Career in India
Discover why MBBS is still the most preferred career in India. Explore career benefits, study options like MBBS admission in Nepal, and get expert help from Collegestoria consultancy.
In a country where education is not just a pathway but a legacy, MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) continues to hold its position as one of the most aspired careers. Every year, lakhs of Indian students appear for the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) with a singular goal—to secure a seat in a reputed medical college and begin their journey as future doctors.
Despite the evolution of various career options in tech, business, design, and entrepreneurship, MBBS remains a dream for many students and parents alike. But what makes it so enduringly popular in India? Let’s explore the reasons behind the timeless appeal of an MBBS degree.
1. Noble Profession with High Social Respect
In Indian society, doctors have always enjoyed unmatched respect and admiration. The ability to heal and save lives is viewed as not just a job, but a divine calling. Parents often encourage their children to pursue medicine due to the social prestige associated with it.
An MBBS degree automatically places one in a respected societal role, often considered on par with or even above other top professions like IAS, engineering, or law.
2. Strong Job Security and Financial Stability
The demand for qualified doctors is consistently high—not just in India but globally. The healthcare sector is recession-proof, and the COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted the critical need for competent medical professionals.
MBBS graduates have the flexibility to pursue various lucrative paths such as private practice, government hospital jobs, higher education (like MD/MS), or even work abroad. The financial returns grow significantly with experience, specialization, and reputation.
3. Wide Array of Career Opportunities
Gone are the days when an MBBS degree only led to general practice. Today, MBBS graduates can specialize in a vast range of medical fields like cardiology, dermatology, oncology, neurology, psychiatry, and more.
Moreover, opportunities have expanded into fields like hospital management, clinical research, telemedicine, public health policy, and medical academia. This diversity keeps the profession engaging and future-proof.
4. The Emotional and Personal Fulfillment
Medicine is one of the few careers that offers deep emotional satisfaction. Helping people heal and live better lives creates a unique sense of purpose that is hard to match in other professions.
MBBS students and practitioners often share stories of how saving even one life reinforces their career choice every day. This emotional reward system plays a huge role in keeping the profession highly preferred.
5. Government Support and Educational Growth
The Indian government has increased efforts to expand the medical education infrastructure. With more AIIMS institutions and state medical colleges being set up, the number of MBBS seats is gradually increasing, making the dream more accessible to deserving candidates.
Additionally, government scholarships, loan schemes, and support programs make it financially feasible for economically weaker students to pursue medicine.
6. Growing Opportunities Abroad – Including MBBS Admission in Nepal
Due to the high competition and limited seats in India, many students are now considering MBBS admission in Nepal as a smart alternative. Nepal offers quality education, MCI/NMC-approved colleges, affordable fees, and cultural familiarity. It’s geographically close, and many universities have Indian faculty or similar curriculum structures.
Moreover, the degree is valid in India after passing the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination), making it an attractive option for thousands of aspirants each year.
7. Trusted Guidance Through Consultancies like Collegestoria
Securing an MBBS seat, whether in India or abroad, is a complex process that involves entrance exams, counseling, paperwork, and more. This is where reliable consultancies like Collegestoria come into the picture.
Collegestoria has helped numerous students fulfill their medical dreams by offering expert support for both domestic admissions and MBBS admission in Nepal. Their team simplifies the process by assisting with college selection, document preparation, NMC compliance, and visa formalities—making the transition smoother for students and parents alike.
If you're planning a medical career and want a stress-free admission process, Collegestoria is the trusted name to rely on.
8. A Legacy Career Passed Through Generations
In many Indian families, medicine is not just a career but a legacy. Children often look up to doctors in the family and aspire to follow in their footsteps. This generational influence keeps the demand for MBBS alive and well.
From grandparents to parents to children, the continuity of a career in medicine remains a matter of pride, tradition, and purpose.
9. Potential to Serve the Nation
India still faces a shortage of qualified medical professionals, especially in rural areas. MBBS graduates can make a tangible difference by serving underserved communities, participating in national health missions, or joining the Indian Army Medical Corps.
The chance to contribute to public health and national welfare makes the profession even more fulfilling for many aspirants.
Conclusion
Despite the emergence of diverse career paths, MBBS continues to be the most preferred career choice in India—for good reason. From job security and societal respect to personal fulfillment and growth potential, medicine offers a unique combination that few careers can match.
Whether you’re planning to study in India or considering MBBS admission in Nepal, the journey requires dedication, clarity, and the right support system. Consultancies like Collegestoria play a crucial role in helping students make informed decisions and realize their dreams of becoming successful doctors.
Ready to start your MBBS journey? Whether in India or Nepal, let Collegestoria guide you every step of the way—because your medical dream deserves expert direction.
